Some day, I'd like to recreate Harlock and Tochiro's jolly roger shirts so their looks would be at least a BIT more complete, but for now, here's Harlock and his friends.

Found this gem of an English translation in my room while going through my pile (pile?! PILE?! More like cavernous mountian!) of Leiji Matsumoto stuff, and it always makes me cackle how people go 'are you a woman?!' to her... and frankly, I'm surprised she doesn't break heads more often. The utter disrespectful behavior before they know her name and the go 'oh *censored*! We screwed up!' is kinda boggling... like you see a woman, with a gravity saber.... and you think she's just a person you can harass?! I'd be smart and stay away... ah, hell! Who am I kidding?! I'd go talk to her!

And she either gets aggressive:

Or when finding a young boy crying in a desert, you tell him 'a man doesn't cry' and HE gets aggressive with her, saying that HE knows that! He didn't cry when his parents died, but his ship? It was everything.

So she's like 'ah... I see...'

... and then gets into a duel:

And the kid FINALLY gives her a modicum of respect and asks who she is, and the cape flares and she gives her name - Emeraldas.

And she just ends up being told 'WTH would you know? You're just a *woman*!'

She then tells him that if he's brave, he'll surely meet her in the vastness of space... which leads to the whole 'insight into Emeraldas', but this one is a bit different because there's a lot of self reflection and introspection compared to the 1977 Harlock manga.

It's a lovely piece and I need to get the rest of them. I realized I only have the first edition of them. Gotta be like a Pokémon collector and gotta grab 'em all!
