Aspects
My views on Homestuck's Aspects. Part of this analysis is the idea that Aspects have relationships to each other, each bringing the other about.
I will use my own custom Aspect symbols throughout, but the analysis itself is based on canon.
Space

Space is the Aspect of beginnings, of new things. Space experiments and improvises. Space cares about what is possible now, and cares more about the discoveries made in a journey than about a specific endpoint. Space is infinite discovery and potential.
Space is represented by art, fashion, atoms, and frogs.
Space is the color of the night sky, empty beyond human perception, endless and unfathomable but not featureless. Inky darkness, dotted by stars. Space has no color at all, which sometimes results in it using Sburb’s default texture.
Space is opposed to the Aspect of Time.
Space is the fundamental force of creation that gives rise to the duality of Life and Doom well as the unknown mysteries of Void.
Void

Void is the Aspect of the unknown. Of hidden, ill-defined things impossible for us to know or give names to. Void is the Aspect of true reality, of things on a spectrum, of quantum and biology.
Void is represented by water, darkness, and pumpkins.
Void is the color of deep waters, hiding what lies within; its color somewhere on a gradient, but impossible for humans to pinpoint or define no matter how long they stare; Void is the shifting hues of the color of the sky.
Void is opposed to the Aspect of Light.
The unexplored unknowns of the Void hide the untapped potential that is Space, leading to new creation.
Life

Life is the Aspect of agency and self-direction. Life is self-directed and idealistic; Life concerns itself primarily with what Life wants to do, not caring for obstacles or drawbacks. Life sees an infinitude of options, and picks the one it desires.
Life is represented by plants, food, coins, and wealth.
Life is opposed to the Aspect of Doom.
The ultimate freedom to do whatever one wants eventually leads to the ennui of Breath. The interplay of Life and Doom leads to defining one's self in Heart or hiding in Mind.
Doom

Doom is the Aspect of fate and constraint. Doom has burdens and limitations; Doom concerns itself with practical issues instead of lofty ideals. Doom sees no escape or negotiation, going with what others demand of you.
Doom is represented by skulls, death, and fire.
Doom is opposed to the Aspect of Life.
The practical matters and the knowledge of our limits leads to the endless toil of Blood. The interplay of Life and Doom leads defining one's self in Heart or hiding in Mind.
Breath

Breath is the Aspect of detachment. Breath goes with the flow, not caring about anything or anyone in particular; Breath does whatever feels right in the moment, not worrying about much.
Breath is represented by wind, leaves, and rivers.
Breath is opposed to the Aspect of Blood.
The freedom of exploration of and detachment of goals leads to the compromise and negotiation of Hope and to exploration of the self in Heart.
Blood

Blood is the Aspect of effort. Blood has lofty expectations, from both itself and others, and runs itself ragged to accomplish all of them. Blood cares intensely about what it does, without rest or thought.
Blood is represented by blood, sweat, stone, and iron.
Blood is opposed to the Aspect of Breath.
The exertion and toil of Blood eventually lead either to hiding in Mind or to the revolution of Rage.
Heart

Heart is the Aspect of self and emotion. Heart is a person's identity and definition, their emotions and their friendships and their biases. Heart goes with its gut. Heart cares about what its heart directs it to.
Heart is represented by music, hats, and horses.
Heart is opposed to the Aspect of Mind.
Heart’s loyalty and instinct lead to the upheaval of Rage and Heart’s caring nature leads to Blood.
Mind

Mind is the Aspect of thought and masking. Mind coldly adapts itself to circumstance, hiding the true self in order to blend in with what's acceptable. Mind is impartial. Mind weighs all the options, and picks the one most suited to the situation.
Mind is represented by masks, blindfolds, and scales.
Mind is opposed to the Aspect of Heart.
Mind’s bottling of emotions leads to the real detachment of Breath; and Mind’s adaptive nature leads to Hope.
Rage

Rage is the Aspect of rebellion. Rage is skeptical of what society presents as true, and fights tooth and nail for what it stands for. Rage riots and fights back; Rage would sooner bring revenge than healing. Rage fights for sudden change.
Rage is represented by fangs, beasts, and waves.
Rage is opposed to the Aspect of Hope.
In fighting against their shackles, one gains the newfound options of Life. Rage’s sudden changes forms half of the past events of Time.
Hope

Hope is the Aspect of diplomacy. Hope believes everyone is good at heart, and that everything could be solved if only everyone talked things out. Hope has blind faith and will sooner comfort a friend than hurt an enemy. Hope solves things slowly and steadily.
Hope is represented by religion, ribbons, and blankets.
Hope is opposed to the Aspect of Rage.
Hope’s compromises and negotiations lead to new shackles in the form of Doom. Hope’s slow changes form half the past events of Time.
Time

Time is the Aspect of the past. Time is concerned with traditions, patterns, and the inevitability of what came before. Time brings the authority of established rules and governance. Time looks to what was to decide what will come about.
Time is associated with gears, crowns, sand, and clocks.
Time is the color of a gear turning to rust, of blood leaving a vein, of a game timer running out. Time powers shine in all colors at once before they settle on one.
Time is opposed to the Aspect of Space.
The knowledge of the established patterns of Time leads to the knowledge and definition of Light.
Light

Light is the Aspect of definition. Light has clear rules, clear definitions, and clear answers. Light creates frameworks of understanding and puts things in black and white, right and wrong, relevant and irrelevant, which can sometimes lead to ignoring the gray areas between. Light is the Aspect of human knowledge of the world, our ideas, stories, and sciences.
Light is represented by the sun, fire, and compasses.
Light is the blazing color of the sun, impossible to look at for long, but shining its light everywhere, a white light that returns as a myriad of colors.
Light is opposed to the Aspect of Void.
The sharp delineations of Light ignore the gray areas outside definition, creating Void.

A Lunar Corona over Paris

Explanation: Why does a cloudy moon sometimes appear colorful? The effect, called a lunar corona, is created by the quantum mechanical diffraction of light around individual, similarly-sized water droplets in an intervening but mostly-transparent cloud. Since light of different colors has different wavelengths, each color diffracts differently. Lunar coronae are one of the few quantum mechanical color effects that can be easily seen with the unaided eye. Solar coronae are also sometimes evident. The featured image was taken last month from Paris, France. The blue beacon emanating from the Eiffel Tower did not affect the colorful lunar corona.

Overwhelming presence
Monitoring space is a complicated task due to the literal cosmic scale of the undertaking. However, security is paramount, all species learn this in their own histories, thus technology and methods to effectively keep track of most relevant objects in space has been thoroughly developed.
The (relatively) simplest and most commonly used is the Quantum Web - a series of micro-satellites dotted around a star system, each maintain a large field of quantum-entangled particles and relay any changes within it in real time to all associated monitoring stations. The primary method is by detecting changes in energy levels, as simple physical displacement often clutters the feed with random asteroids and debris, or other objects of non-sapient origin.
As the United Federation and the Galactic Coalition are in a bit of a... tense stage in their relationship at the moment, the bordering Neutral Zone is heavily monitored by Federation agents, especially all systems close to where they have deployed their Battle Moon.
One day, a Federation monitor was returning from a short break to notice something off about the readout. There were many big bright white dots moving quickly within the Neutral Zone. They had never seen anything like that before. Normally all readings are color coded based on known ship or station designs and typical power outputs throughout said vessel.
The flow of energy throughout a vessel is sort of a fingerprint in a way. If you zoom in on the readout, and if the Quantum Web field is saturated enough, you can sometimes make out individual power generators and consumers.
This was something else. Going closer just made the whole projection go white, as if the thing was hundreds of kilometers in every direction, but that couldn't be. First, even the Battle Moon doesn't produce an image like that and it is literally a 340km large moon. And second, these dots - spheres more accurately - seem to overlap constantly. Logically, this must be an error of some kind.
What was not logical is when those bright lights came up to relative physical viewing distance of the hidden monitoring station. Letting curiosity get the better of them, the Federation agent pointed a telescope where this "error" should be.
There was nothing there. Just an error then. Feeling relieved even though they didn't think they were nervous to begin with, they set about filing a report on the situation and requesting maintenance support. As they were about to finalize all necessary paperwork, an open channel hail pinged them.
"Hey there, is anyone out here? We, uhh, messed up and wiped our navcom, so we're kinda lost here. Could someone please send over a copy of the local system chart? We'd be real grateful if you also didn't tell our parents about this, okay? Like, we can trade for something, like Mick's fancy guitar" "Hey!" "What? You don't play, your dad just gave it to you cuz you randomly said you wanted one while high."
Taking a quick glance at the projector and comm-observer, the agent stopped. The messages were coming from those bright lights. Rushing back to the telescope, they quickly zeroed in on their location and found three small apparently custom built space craft of unknown design.
As the trio of ships kept sending out random conversations among the clearly young civilians on board, the agent maintained total silence. Not long after, a Coalition military scout craft appeared on the projector in the expected yellow energy pattern, confirming that the Quantum Web was functioning without fault.
Throughout the ensuing conversation and reprimand, they learned that the three ships belonged to Humans, a species very recently integrated into the Coalition. Little investigation had been done on them so far, mainly as they are quite far away and only reside within a single system.
So the question stands - what kind of energy signature would produce such a massive bright light? it couldn't be a ruse. You can't "trick" a quantum-entangled particle. Maybe... There are ancient anecdotes of true fusion reactors - miniature stars - but no, nobody utilizes that, it's far too dangerous and difficult just to contain let alone exploit.
No one in their right mind would use literal stars right next to them. Right?

Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) materials have shown great potential for applications in lighting and display fields due to their wide color gamut, adjustable emission wavelength, high quantum efficiency, high color saturation, and low processing cost. For example, QD materials based on cadmium and perovskite have made remarkable progress, but the use of toxic Cd and Pb has limited their further application. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulation clearly limits the use of Cd and Pb in electronic products to less than 100 ppm and 1,000 ppm, respectively. Therefore, developing new environmentally friendly quantum dot material systems is of great significance. In recent years, eco-friendly I-III-VI2 QDs, such as Ag-In-Ga-S (AIGS) QDs, have attracted widespread attention due to their large Stokes shift, controllable emission over the entire visible spectrum, and high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY).

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to three researchers “for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots.” Moungi Bawendi of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Louis Brus of Columbia University, and Alexei Ekimov, formerly chief scientist at Nanocrystals Technology, will each receive one-third of the prize money—11 million Swedish kronor (about $1 million). Quantum dots are semiconductor crystals in the nanometer size range—so small that about 500,000 nm fit across the period at the end of this sentence. Because of the effects of quantum mechanics, these particles exhibit a number of physical properties that uniquely depend on the size of the crystal. For example, how these particles absorb and emit light varies widely between particles that differ just slightly in size. Researchers, including this year’s chemistry laureates, have exploited those size-dependent traits to make quantum dots that glow in every color in the rainbow.

New Identity Submission: Genderquantum

Hi! My name is Draigìn, and I'd like to talk about my gender identity. I haven't seen anyone else refer to themselves as Genderquantum before, so I think I'm the first one. If you feel like you identify as Genderquantum, feel free to add this label to your endless pile of labels.
Genderquantum is a subset of genderfluidity. I used to identify primarily as genderfluid, but it frustrated me that people would assume my gender was one and not another, and would say "How should I refer to you today?"
Genderquantum is based on the concept of Quantum mechanics, in which partial states may be identified, but identifying one state omits the whole. If you think I am a particle, then I am a wave. If you think I am a wave, then I am a particle. I am all, I am none. My gender fluctuates very quickly between feminine, masculine, and agender, and as such can never accurately be identified at any given time. As such, I am simultaneously male, female, and none. Genderquantum is a form of bigender and multigender. Here's how pronouns work for me: I go by he/him and she/her, but I don't want others to stick with one and use it per day or per occasion or based on my appearance. I invite others to switch out my pronouns as they choose. For example: "Draigìn likes to work on his needlecraft in her freetime." This may or may not be the same for you.
Genderquantum is not the same as Schroedigender, although the two are similar. Genderquantum does not seek to be one gender encompassing many, but rather to encapsulate the shifting feeling of gender and the plurality of gender. Genderquantum identifies the absence as well as presence of gender in our society.
Above is the Genderquantum flag, created by myself. It is a black base with a white helix [or a sine wave and a cosine wave] crossing horizontally. In the center is a white dot with a lavender gradient, surrounded by 9 half-moon like strokes to represent quantum energy shells. Each stroke is a color of the gender fluid flag [pink, purple, blue]

Stranger Things and the quantum mechanics of time travel.
How El & Max travel through time.

I always pronounce the name in German that's why it didn't click. His name is Max - the Planck constant. With his work Max Planck layed the groundwork for modern day quantum physics/mechanics in science.
The Planck constant was a clue they gave us to point to quantum mechanics/physics and time travel. Quantum mechanics holds the scientific key to time travel and can even bypass the Grandfather paradox.
The one used in ST is from 2017,not the 80s which on face value looks like a mistake: 6.62607004
However if you split the number in half.
6+6+2+6 = 20
7+0+0+4 = 11
(That numbers, even dates put into an equation will turn to either 11 or 20 isn't unusual in Stranger Things: Mike tries to contact El 353 times, in the first DnD game Will needs a 13 but rolls a 7, Max's trailer number is 56 etc etc)
This split in half leads to another thought I had and others had but only in regards to Henry: that he was split. What if he wasn't the only one and there are two Elevens too, we just know them under a different name and face (I'll elaborate on that in another post)
Max was sent into another dimension & into the future.
Gates react depending on the emotions involved - fear and anger sent Henry into the Upside-down and love and compassion sent Max.. somewhere else. And it's just Max's mind. A gate was open. A mind gate. (We see the door of the Creel house is not in it's hinges when Max is there, meaning for her the door is open)

That's why they have parallels & mirrors. Literal mirrors as Max sees her counterpart, Henry, in the mirror, the left eye "blind" (there are other things they have in common like red & green clothing, a shot of Max in the gym vs Henry in the promo poster for that stage play thingy.)
We see the kaleidoscope before the teleportation - in El's "memory" before the zooming effect, the rainbow on Max's face & in the rainbow room. The most intriguing thing is that two kids use the rainbow as a bridge or road, playing with some toy cars on it.
And on the hand the colors we see from El's memory... It's a birth. Later associated with an electric shock when El is revived by Owens & Brenner.
"And there upon a rainbow is the answer to a neverending story. " - a rainbow bridge. A time vortex as it's called in Doctor Who. There also known as a Bifröst. Through a birth canal.

"Show no fear for she may fade away. In your hand the birth of a new day."
The association between this and "sent into another dimension" is obvious: El figuratively gave birth to or created something? Or at least helped. If not at least in a metaphorical way? . Most importantly Max's mind was send over this rainbow bridge (due to a fact that I noticed later/after this initial post - a zooming effect around El's head after the rainbow sequence) especially bc it appeared in the script during the revival, not before, a new dimension by teleportation of a being/mind. In connection to the electric shock/lighting bolt that can be seen in S1, framed by Blue and Yellow, and in the stained glass windows "eye" and in we have another association with the hints toward the 1.21 Gigawatts.

My Back to the future posts (a bit older and not 100% up to date & remember how BttF was literally in Season 3).
And the teleportation/transportation (as a metaphor) has been foreshadowed earlier when Max is in the hallway with the drawing of a rainbow starting with dots like it's disassembled into it's particles. (Comic book down below as an example of how you can do this in art)

According to an article (link down below) the physicist Timothy C Ralph ".... suggests using teleportation for time traveling, although in a different setting, namely, displacing the entangled resource in time." (This could be a coincidence but Tangled was pointed out as an inspo for S4. Tangled...entangled. The Creel house rose window that shows Blue and Yellow entangled. I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to connect these things. So, this is definitely open for interpretation.)
Quantum mechanics, time travel/time displacement, wormholes (the DeLorean uses a wormhole btw and the time displacement is actually mentioned as a line).
They adapt these ideas (only on surface level), put in hints but basically, they told us what happened...it even makes it possible that Henry ended up in the past, defying the grandfather paradox.
We are talking about time travel via teleportation/transportation into another "dimension" .
Why else use these words in this manner in the script if not suggesting exactly that. (it could have been "when El remembered her birth/love of her mother yet this is not mentioned. Terry is probably just another proxy & Jane Ives just a...disguise). And mind lairs/inner worlds can be interpreted as exactly that: dimensions. I'm talking about Max's mind lair.
And then there was the hint towards "A wrinkle in time" and Mrs Whatsit. Madeleine L'Engle herself was fascinated by science like theoretical physics and like her the Duffers use these for ST.
In regards to quantum mechanics, you need to keep in mind a spin. "Deep inside all matter in the universe, electrons are buzzing around and behaving as if they are twirling around on their axes like spinning tops. These "spinning" electrons are fundamental to quantum physics and play a central role in our understanding of atoms and molecules."

Time travel however will work more like in "Days of Future Past" in which Logan's future mind was sent back in time into his younger self. Same body, different time. Like sleeping.
We saw for example quantum physics used as a means to travel through time and space in Endgame too. (I use these two examples only to showcase that others have done similar things too - it's not a direct inspo {necessarily} )
Except in Stranger Things and Max's case it's the future: an immediate time jump.
Brenner’s death shows a spin too and Henry is connected to things that spin like mills.
Why? Because that day in the lab, Henry/Edward was not only sent into another dimension but was also displaced in time. (Likely it were two Henry's from two timelines or he was split - the latter more likely. Others thought in this direction already. Same with El & Max?). Like Max was now sent into the future.

ZX Calculus - Another Perspective on Quantum Circuits. Part I

Recently, stumbled across a tensor network-type framework which was completely new to me - the ZX Calculus. The ZX Calculus is not only a neat way of representing possibly complicated mathematical equations, it also gives explicit rules to alter and simplify those expressions. The ZX Calculus is particularly suited to describe matters in quantum information, which is why I'd like to provide a neat example of how to use this framework. As you might already know, quantum circuits can be fully analysed and understood with the help of tensor networks (actually, they are tensor networks) [1]. However, the ZX Calculus is a specific framework which gives a very illustrative graphical way of understanding quantum circuits, while the typical tensor network approaches are mostly tailored for many body problems. All of the following is taken from [2], a very comprehensive introduction to the ZX Calculus and I fully recommend to go through this paper if the following glimpse into the topic made you curious.
In the following we will set up the very basic set of definitions and rules in order to understand how to evaluate the outcome of the well-known Bell circuit which creates a maximally entangled Bell state:

Basic Definitions: Spiders and Vectors
The most fundamental definition in the ZX Calculus is the spider. The Z-Spider has n inputs and m outputs and is defined as follows:

Thus, such a spider is simply a way of representing a specific kind of 2^n x 2^m matrices. Here, the |0> and |1> denote the basis states of the Pauli Z operator. Similarily, an X-Spider can be defined in terms of another basis, the eigenstates of the Pauli X operator, |+> and |- >:

Thus, the color of the dot encodes information about the basis. The usage of the basis states of both Pauli X and Pauli Z is eponymous for the ZX Calculus. One could have chosen the Pauli Y basis as well, however the choice of X and Z results in nice symmetry properties [2, p.22]. From this, we can already conclude the first identity which we will need to evaluate the Bell circuit: Set n=m=1 as well as α=0. With these parameters, the spides become plain 2x2 identity matrices (just look at the definitions!). While α=0 is denoted with an empty dot, this observation can be represented as:

Thus, as soon as we encounter single, plain dots with one incoming and one outgoing leg, we can remove them. Additionally, we will need to know, how to represent simple basis vectors in this diagrammatic language. This is simply done by using dots with a single leg and the following simple consideration according to the definitions of the spiders:

Of course, one can also describe |- > and |1> states, just apply α=π respectively. Note that we omit global phases here; thus using a simple equality sign is actually a delicate matter.
The Hadamard Gate
The Hadamard gate is a unitary gate which simply transforms between the X and Z basis; e.g. applying the Hadamard gate to a |0> state will result in |+>. Its graphical representation is just a plain box with one outcoming and one incoming leg - its action on the basis vectors is as follows:

Actually, this is one special case of the more general rule, that the application of Hadamards changes colors as follows:

This of course also holds if the colors are inversed. In general, all ZX rules hold under coherent exchange of colors.
The CNOT Gate
Another central gate in quantum computing is the CNOT gate, which is a controlled NOT gate, i.e. the target qubit is only flipped if the control qubit is |1>, otherwise nothing happens. This 2-qubit-gate can be represented as

The equality sign should be taken with care as well, because the left is in the quantum circuit notation, while the right is in ZX calculus notation. Its construction is explicitly explained in [2, pp. 11]. Since it is a bit lengthy to go through it by representing the diagrams as matrices, I leave it to you to check it in the reference in case you are interested.
The Fusion Rule
In general, it is possible to "fuse" dots of the same color, while adding their phases. Note that it is addition mod 2π because α and  β are the exponents of e.

Later, we will only use a special case of this, namely that we can fuse dots of the same color which are connected by one line.
Now, we have finally settled the rough framework for analyzing the Bell circuit, which will do in the next part!

Moungi Bawendi, the Lester Wolfe Professor of Chemistry at MIT, has won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2023. He will share the prize with Louis Brus of Columbia University and Alexei Ekimov of Nanocrystals Technology.
Bawendi is a pioneer in the development of quantum dots: tiny particles of matter that emit exceptionally pure light. These particles, a special type of semiconducting nanocrystals, have been incorporated into  technologies such as biomedical imaging and computer and television displays.
In its announcement this morning, the Nobel Foundation, cited Bawendi for work that “revolutionized the chemical production of quantum dots, resulting in almost perfect particles.”
Quantum dots consist of tiny particles of semiconductor material that are so small that their properties differ from those of the bulk material; they are governed in part by the laws of quantum mechanics that describe how atoms and subatomic particles behave. When illuminated with ultraviolet light, the dots fluoresce brightly in a range of colors determined by the sizes of the particles.
In 1993, Bawendi and his students were the first to report a method for synthesizing quantum dots while maintaining precise control over their size. Since then, he has also devised ways to control the efficiency of the dots’ light emission and to eliminate their tendency to blink on and off, making them more practical for applications in many fields.

So not only can quantum dots be used to manipulate cells for mind control, they can also be used for a variety of cellular and dna functions depending on what color spectrum of light they used. This might explain why they are using quantum dots. Their colors will vary depending on the size of the quantum dot. Plus they can control the electrical charge of the quantum dot with lights as well. In principle, this means that they can manipulate millions of cells in the body at once with a single photon and by taking advantage of a quantum property called entanglement....So like an on/off switch they can manipulate cellular function and dna expression too to express or silence too.

april 5, 2023 - wednesday week 5
almost to break! today we actually got out of research on time, which is a first. we purified and characterized our silver nanowires, which went....... alright. the procedure that my partner used is definitely better, which is good because it's the shorter and easier one! we also analyzed our post-dialysis quantum dots, and they were also alright. no strong feelings.
pictured is some tungsten (vi) chloride used in a new WO3 quantum dot procedure! it was suuuuuch a pretty color. we dissolved it in ethylene glycol, and the protocol said it would become transparent, but it just slowly became a mountain dew color and then went back to its blue-black state before lightening again. weird, but my research advisor said it was probably just a reduction that then started going backwards. our lab microwave is currently broken so we just popped it in an autoclave and the oven. hoping for the best!

Flat screen TVs that incorporate quantum dots are now commercially available, but it has been more difficult to create arrays of their elongated cousins, quantum rods, for commercial devices. Quantum rods can control both the polarization and color of light, to generate 3D images for virtual reality devices. Using scaffolds made of folded DNA, MIT engineers have come up with a new way to precisely assemble arrays of quantum rods. By depositing quantum rods onto a DNA scaffold in a highly controlled way, the researchers can regulate their orientation, which is a key factor in determining the polarization of light emitted by the array. This makes it easier to add depth and dimensionality to a virtual scene. "One of the challenges with quantum rods is: How do you align them all at the nanoscale so they're all pointing in the same direction?" says Mark Bathe, an MIT professor of biological engineering and the senior author of the new study. "When they're all pointing in the same direction on a 2D surface, then they all have the same properties of how they interact with light and control its polarization."
