egg-white cauli-oats (4 points)
i have to tell you that this is not my own personal brain child, but it’s so good that i eat it every day for breakfast! it sets my morning on the right foot, leaving me both full and satisfied without having to spend half an hour making food.
ingredients:
1 packet of quaker lower sugar oatmeal (maple brown sugar, apple cinnamon, or cinnamon spice):  4 points
1/2 cup of cauliflower rice:  0 points
3 tbs liquid egg whites:  0 points
1 packet of zero calorie sweetener:  0 points
optional toppings (may add points)
directions:
add cauliflower rice and 1/2 cup water to a bowl and microwave for 2 minutes. add oatmeal packet, egg whites, and sweetener to the bowl, stir well, and microwave for another 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. stir halfway through microwaving, and again when done. top with anything you want, and enjoy!
tips:
in terms of sweetener, i like swerve’s brown sugar replacement, because it feels the most like real sugar to me.
for toppings, i like a mashed banana (0 points) or lucky leaf’s lite apple pie filling (1 point).

Apple Cinnamon Pumpkin Spice High Protein Oatmeal with Toasted Walnuts.....😅 🍏 I am not a fan of oatmeal. As a kid, I loved the Maple Cinnamon packets or even the dinosaur egg ones. 😂 As an adult, I realize how much sugar is actually in those versions. 🍎 Overnight Oats served cold is the closest I’ve ever gotten to CRAVING oatmeal. There are some other flavored version that are pretty good and lower in sugar but they’re expensive to buy regularly. I have been on a mission to make high protein hot oatmeal that tastes good and I’m getting closer. 🍏 This is half cup of @quaker oats cooked in @bolthousefarms #peaproteinmilk with a half scoop of @tryabouttime #pumpkinspice #proteinpowder. [link in description for 15% off] I had to dissolve the protein powder in the milk first before adding any heat to it. Lesson learned from failed attempts. #walnuts we’re toasted with 1/2 teaspoon of #puremaplesyrup. #cinnamon and #pumpkinSpice were sprinkled throughout. Lastly, 1 full #galaapple which is where most of the sweetness comes from. 🍎 #applecinnamon #oatmeal #toastedwalnuts #vegetarian #glutenfree #breakfastideas #highfiber #highcalcium #highvitaminb12 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs51FOcAuZe/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=al1qfzufsa0p

salt, sugar is often loaded into low-fat items to enhance taste
Are foods labeled "low-fat" really that good for you? When they come in the form of fruits and veggies, I say Mangia! But, it might be wise to take a closer look at the prepackaged items in your shopping cart. A recent report from Consumer Reports found that lower-fat foods can have pretty steep levels of sodium, including unlikely items such as Kellogg's Raisin Bran (350 mg a cup), Friendship 1% low-fat cottage cheese (360 mg), Twizzlers Black Licorice Twists (four have 200 mg), Aunt Jemima Original Pancake and Waffle Mix (200 mg a pancake), Heart Healthy V8 vegetable juice (480 mg) and even the Caesar salad from McDonald's has 890 mg of sodium. The high salt content is there mostly to compensate for taste, but simultaneously, it increases our risk for complications from high blood pressure like heart attack, kidney disease and stroke, as well as risk ofasthma, kidney stones, osteoporosis and stomach cancer. Similar to salt, sugar is often loaded into low-fat items to enhance taste. Not to mention, corn is subsidized by the government so high fructose corn syrup, the synthetic sweetener in most boxed foods, is super cheap to come by, making it an alluring ingredient for big companies. A recent article in Men's Health magazine sited items that top the charts when it comes to sugar content. On the list was Quaker Natural Granola: Oats, Honey & Raisins. Sounds healthy right? One cup has 30 grams of sugar. Yikes! Not good, considering processed sugar, or refined carbohydrates, can cause spikes in blood sugar levels, telling your body to store fat and increasing your risk of type 2 diabetes. So, check your food labels. But beware, sugar can fall under many names, including corn sweetener, corn syrup or corn syrup solids, dehydrated cane juice, high-fructose corn syrup, dextrin, maltodextrin, dextrose, fructose, glucose, lactose, and most other ingredients ending in "ose," among others. What can you do? When it comes to salt, The Consumer Reports article offers some good advice: Shop for condiments with no salt added; eat at home more and cook with less salt; eat one serving (instead of the whole can of soup); avoid sodium heavyweights, like soy sauce, chicken bouillion and cured meats (like bacon, ham and hot dogs) and check your medicine (some drugs can contain sodium). See our article on shaking the salt habit for more easy ideas. As for sugar? Try to buy cereals with less that 10 grams of sugar; use spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to add flavor to plain foods like oatmeal; give bland cereals a pick-me-up by throwing in some fresh berries; replace highly processed and refined sugars like corn syrup with more natural alternatives like honey, maple syrup, brown rice syrup or agave nectar. These items have more nutrients and therefore take longer to digest than their processed counterparts, keeping you fuller longer and helping to avoid dangerous spikes in blood sugar. Learn more about choosing the right carbs. So, next time your in the grocery store, double check the label before tossing it into the cart; looks can be deceiving. Read the full article

3 Tasty Berry Recipes For High Blood Pressure Control
The post 3 Tasty Berry Recipes For High Blood Pressure Control is from https://bpnutritions.com/
Berries are possibly the largest sources of antioxidants among all fruits. These antioxidants not only give them their vibrant and beautiful color, they also go a very long way in protecting your body and keeping it healthy and beautiful! This is because the polyphenols or anti-oxidants in berries actively fight free radical damage in the body. While this is great for overall health, it is also very good for your arteries and veins. In fact, studies have shown that consuming a certain amount of berries per week can significantly lower blood pressure. And that is why today we have brought you 3 yummy berry recipes for high blood pressure.
But before we go on to the actual recipes… just to take a look at…
How Berries Lower Blood Pressure
Well, as we mentioned earlier, berries of all kinds – blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, goji berries, lingonberries and all other berries you can think of – are rich in antioxidants. And since the free radicals in the blood cause maximum damage to the blood vessel walls, loading up on berries means you are actually protecting your blood vessels. And healthy blood vessels equal to lower blood pressure.
In addition to this, studies have shown that berries also have other positive effects on heart and vascular health. Research has shown that consuming berries on a daily basis improves platelet function, and also increases the amount of good cholesterol (HDL) in the body!
So, overall, you will only benefit from including more berries in your diet. And to help you with that, we have actually brought you 3 delectable recipes…
Here Is What To Do With The Berries
The three recipes we have for you are:
A Goji Berry Breakfast Granola
A Berry Smoothie for Blood Pressure
Berry Cobbler with Oatmeal
And now on to the recipes…
1. A Goji Berry Breakfast Granola
You can serve this granola with skim milk or crunch on it as it is! Don’t add any extra sugar, though.
For this you will need: Instructions: • Old fashioned oats – 3 cups • Coconut flakes – 1/3 cup • Goji berries – 1/3 cup • Slivered almonds – 1/3 cup • Light brown sugar – ¼ cup • Scraped vanilla bean – 1 • Ground cinnamon – ½ tsp. • Agave nectar – 1/3 cup • Grapeseed oil – 1/3 cup 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment. 2. Combine oats, coconut, almond and cinnamon in a bowl. 3. Take a small saucepan and heat together the sugar, vanilla bean seeds, agave and oil till sugar dissolves. 4. Pour this over the dry ingredients, mix to combine and spread over the parchment. 5. Bake for 20 minutes, mixing once halfway through. 6. Break up with your hands when a little cooler and mix in the goji berries.
And now we move on to our smoothie…
2. A Berry Smoothie for Blood Pressure
This smoothie is packed with ingredients that lower your blood pressure like blueberries, beet ,carrots etc.
So, here’s what you actually need:
Frozen blueberries – ¼ cup
Carrot juice (unsweetened) – ½ cup
Raw beet (peeled and grated) – ¼ cup
Raw almonds – ¼ cup
Applesauce (unsweetened) – ¼ cup
Ground ginger – ½ tsp.
Freshly squeezed lime juice – ½ tsp.
Ice cubes – 1/3 cup
And to make the smoothie, just throw all the ingredients in a blender and blitz!
And finally the yummy one you can even have for dessert.
3. Berry Cobbler with Oatmeal
Normally desserts are not very commonly advised on a high blood pressure controlling diet. However, here is one healthy dessert that you can have! It tastes yummy and it is healthy for your blood vessels!
For this you will need: Instructions:
Frozen mixed berries – 2 pounds
Quaker Instant cinnamon spice oatmeal individual packets – 3
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp.
Margarine or Smart Balance butter – 225 grams
Sugar – 2 tbsp.
Cooking spray
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a glass cobbler pan with the cooking spray.
Place the berries, sugar and lime juice in a sauce pan. Heat gently. Wait till the sugar melts.
Pour the mixture into the cobbler or pie pan.
Take a bowl and pour in the oatmeal mixes.
Melt the margarine or butter and pour into the oatmeal.
Mix and spread over the berry mixture.
This needs to bake for 45 minutes or so.
It will come out lovely, fragrant and bubbly… cool a bit and enjoy!
Berries are a powerhouse of health – and as numerous studies have shown, they can be extremely good for lowering blood pressure too! So try out these 3 berry recipes for high blood pressure – and maybe you can cut down on your blood pressure medication!

#Quaker #QuakerLowerSugarCinnamonSpice#QuakerLowerSugarApplesAndCinnamonOatmeal #QuakerStrawberryBananaInstantOatmeal#TrixCereal #GeneralMillsTrixCerealOatmeal#OatmealMix #OatmealDay
I tried the Lower Sugar Cinnamon Spice Oatmeal, Quaker Lower Sugar Apples And Cinnamon Oatmeal, Quaker Strawberry Banana Instant, General Mills Trix Cereal Oatmeal mixed together with Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino mixed together.
This oatmeal mix was pretty good.
This mix oatmeal with the caramel ice coffee was microwaved like a soft baked oatmeal cookie before cooking it.
This had a light cinnamon, apple and light mixed fruit taste to it but with a light sweet caramel coffee flavor.
This was sweet but not overly sweet to me and the toppings added a light saltiness to the oatmeal that it needed with the crunchiness of the mixed nuts with the seasonings from the soul food seasoned quail eggs that were lightly firm but also soft.
I added corned beef hash, mixed nuts, and quail eggs.
I would eat this again.

This oatmeal mix was lightly crunchy but soft in texture.
This mix was sweet and salty but not overly of both to me.
This oatmeal mix was warmed up close to the texture of a soft baked oatmeal cookie with the Victor Allen's caramel iced coffee.
I would eat this again.

#Quaker #QuakerLowerSugarCinnamonSpiceAndInstantOatmealsMixReview #OatmealDay #OatmealMixReview
I tried the Quaker Lower Sugar Cinnamon Spice and other Instant Oatmeal's mixed together with the Starbucks espresso canned coffee.
This dry oatmeal was lightly cinnamon tasting while also lightly sweet.
This was a little crunchy in texture.
This was mixed with other oatmeal's with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, starbucks espresso coffee and quail eggs.
This mix tasted like a chocolatey, banana with light cinnamon taste but I didn't taste the strawberry flavor in the strawberry banana oatmeal.
The coffee flavor was light tasting and the oatmeal flavors overpowered the espresso taste.
The sunflower and pumpkin seed gave this smooth and oatmeal cookie constancy oatmeal a light crunchy texture while lightly salty.
The quail eggs were firm but soft in texture and taste like hard boiled chicken eggs but are mini and the soul food seasoning gave these quail eggs a lightly salty well seasoned taste.
This mix was lightly sweet and salty.
I would eat this again.
