Facts you don't know about Qaitbay Citadel

Qaitbay Citadel was the most important strongholds for Egypt & the Mediterranean Sea Coast. It was actually built on the exact location of "the Lighthouse of Alexandria", which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Lighthouse was destroyed in the 14th century and the Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf Qaitbay built and fortified the building to serve as a coastal defense against the Turkish in 1480 AD. 

What is really astonishing about the citadel is that its current form is not the original one... What do you think happened to the original form and who was responsible for mending it??

[28 Dec 2018] 🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬 Qaitbay citadel in Alexandria I walked from the Alexandria library to Qaitbay citadel because I was afraid of the Egyptians ripping me off. I could see the citadel beyond the sea, so it didn’t seem far away yet. But I miscalculated. I walked for an hour. However, I could feel the Mediterranean breeze while walking. When I went inside after paying the admission fee, many visitors who came first were looking around I also looked around the castle and cannon, it was exciting. This time I could feel BTS power. As I was looking at the second floor of the castle, three Egyptian women looked at my face. I thought, ‘what are they doing?’ I ignored them and took pictures of the castle. I finished looking around and they asked me when I was going down. “Are you from Korea?” I said “Yes” It turned out that they wanted to take a picture with me. I felt very good. So I took a picture with them. To be honest, this wasn’t the first time. When I looked around the Pyramid, some people wanted to take picture with me. BTS.. you are the best. . 알렉산드리아의 콰이트베이 요새. 계속 바가지를 씌워대는 이집션들이 두려워 알렉산드리아 도서관에서 걸어갔다. 바다 너머로 요새가 보여 별로 멀지 않으리라 생각했는데 은근히 멀었다. 한시간을 걸었다. 그래도 걸어가는 동안 시원한 지중해의 바닷바람을 느껴서 좋았다. 그렇게 도착하고 주변이 바다로 둘러싸여 있는 이 요새. 분위기 넘친다. 입장료를 내고 안으로 들어가니 무수한 관람객들이 먼저 ��서 관람 중이었다. 나도 성곽을 따라 둘러보고 대포도 보고 재밌었다. 이때 나는 BTS의 위력을 보았다. 요새의 2층을 둘러보고 있었다. 이집트 여인 3분이 계속 내 주위를 돌아다니며 내 눈치를 본다. 나는 속으로 ‘뭐지?’라고 생각하며 무시한 채 주변 사진을 찍었다. 그렇게 내려가려고 하는데 나를 불렀다. 한국인이냐고 묻는다. 나는 그렇다고 했다. 그러니 사진을 찍어달란다. 기분이 좋았다. 흔쾌히 찍어주었다. 사실 이번이 처음은 아니다. 이집트 피라미드를 둘러볼 때도 많은 사람들이 사진을 찍어 달라고 했었다.
