New Fic: This Father Means Business

Excited to share my fic for the QZGS Big Bang 2023! I was nervous to have my first work for a fandom that I love be a BB fic, but I'm so glad I went for it, as it's been a really fun experience (even if there were a few stressful weeks in there). Not to mention, I genuinely love how the fic turned out--Phew! Check out my fic here.

This Father Means Business is a 12k complete oneshot and is my first attempt at handling a fix-it. It got out of hand, story-wise, as most everything I write does, so I ended up cutting 2.5 of the planned scenes. BUT that just means there's more for me to write later!

In truth, I've been struggling to write fanfiction for the past six months, so I'm really grateful to the optimistic version of me who signed up for this event and forced me to get back into fic writing.

Wei Chen takes his self-given ‘this father’ title seriously, and he’s been working on himself since leaving all his kids like that was, well, shitty. It’s still a work in progress, but for all that reaching back out to any of them is still tied up with his own shame, grief, and self-loathing, Wei Chen can’t just sit at home after watching the utter travesty that was Season 5.

I had the pleasure of arting for jelly’s YuYe big bang fic, “Seas, snails, and puppy dog tails: how to make him fur-ever yours”

When marine biologist Yu Wenzhou moved to America with his dog Shaotian for a new post-doctoral opportunity, he didn't expect to fall in love with the first person who caught his eye.

A fic about the Asian-American experience, interpersonal relationships, marine biology, and of course, falling for the man with the really cute dog.

The first chapter of my QZGS Big Bang 2019 fic is up! It’s a one-shot set in a Gundam-inspired Future/Space/Mecha alternative universe.

Ye Xiu moves to steal some of Tyrannical Ambition’s latest technology from a Martian research facility in order to upgrade his mobile suit, Lord Grim, while Chen Guo coordinates the mission from high above Mars. She’s more than a little relieved when he makes it back safely...

I'd first like to thank my artist, Dekrion (Twitter), for doing the lovely line art for this fic in spite of great adversity. Next, I'd like to thank Sora (Twitter, Tumblr, Lofter, Instagram) for so graciously agreeing to color it on such short notice. QZGS Big Bang 2019

Hello, Glory fans!

Do you feel there is a distinct lack of fic in this fandom? Are you struggling to find fanart outside of Lofter? Do you feel lonely…isolated…neglected? Like you dedicated over seven years of your life to a team only for them to call you old and hire some uppity kid to replace you?

…Okay, that’s getting off-topic. What we’re trying to get at here is: suffer no more! The Glory Pro Alliance is bringing you our fandom’s very first Big Bang!

What is a Big Bang?

A lot of fics and fanart, produced and posted in abundance to flood the fandom with affection! (Why does this sound like a tongue twister?)

Fics and fanart of what kind?

Any kind you like! Characters, themes, ships, it’s all up to you. All fics will be at least 7k words long and artists will produce fanart based on the submitted fics.

How do I participate?

Just read the basic information, rules, and schedule, then sign up using one of the forms linked in our blog.

Any special requirements?

As long as you’re dedicated, you should be good, but we will require your alias and your email address, and ideally you should have either a Tumblr account or AO3 account, since these are our two main platforms for posting. We will be offering generalized updates and reminders through Tumblr, and more specific ones via email.

Can I back out at any time?

Pretty much, but try not to wait until the last minute to do so. We’d also prefer it if you didn’t disappear on us; just tell us if you no longer want to participate.

Come one, come all! Signups start on April 6 and end on May 6, but there’s no need to take that long to think about it. Glory favors the brave!
