wakanda forever crackpot? theory. so on chapter 4 of the black panther podcast with ruth e carter, ruth says that she actually designed ramonda's eu outfit for a different scene—the scene where she faces off with namor in the palace. and if you look at that outfit closely, you see...
looks familiar?
idk if it's a coincidence that a piece of her outfit looks similar to namor's mother's bracelet, like am i reaching? i could be reaching. but also the fact that ruth imagined her dying in it? i mean, if it's not a coincidence, it could've symbolized a connection between ramonda and namor's mother, and namor drowning her in it meant that he was turning away from what his mother wanted for him (just like shuri diverging from the future her mother wanted for her). then later, when we see the visions of ramonda juxtaposed with namor's mother extending out a hand right before he yields... perhaps that was him, remembering who he was, too?
but yeah, that's my theory lol.
#sometimes i sit and wonder... do i think about this movie too much?#🤷🏽♀️#wakanda forever#namor#shuri#queen ramonda#also! this did make me inspect the outfit ramonda actually dies in and it mirrors namor's neck piece.. so that's interesting too!

REWATCHED WAKANDA FOREVER YET AGAIN...
Okay, so I keep seeing posts saying Namor is a villain, and I find it so infuriating because he's clearly an anti-hero. "Yeah but he killed Queen Ramonda and a lot of Wakandans." Yeah, I know. If y'all ever heard of tribal wars then it makes sense. So here's the thing: Nakia killed two of his children. It's supposed to be an eye for an eye kind of thing, but obviously, Wakanda will never give up Riri and Nakia. He has no choice but to attack until the blood debt has been repaid, but then it will never be repaid because that's just how things go in war. The death tolls just rise, wars are waged again and again to avenge those who have been killed until there's no one left in one or both factions. Lots of tribes have been wiped out because of tribal wars.
Shuri choosing to spare Namor's life breaks the cycle. It's not like a preventive measure because M'Baku was wrong. They were plunged into eternal war when Nakia killed those two handmaidens. Remember, Talokan was isolated for 500 years, maybe more. They are a nation that kept to the old ways, free from western influences. To them, K'uk'ulkan's plan to wash away the surface world is normal. We see this with the fall of Tikal, which is basically an it's them or us situation (please correct me if I'm wrong but this was the vibe I got from whatever I read + documentaries...they were rivals and one is wary of the other until Uht Chan went okay let's end this shit. But also take this with a grain of salt because not much is known about the Snake Kings 🫣🫣). Ok that's all! Thanks for listening to my TED talk.
(Cuz ofc nashuri is in my head now 24/7)
(And omfg I just love the Talokan storyline so much!! We need a series, a movie, new comics!!)
(Ah hehe I just remembered Namor slept with a tapeworm queen to prevent war. He's a make love not war kinda guy, so yeah he 100% was propsing using the bracelet thing. It makes sense with his character...and yall know he was just playing hard to get when he kept saying he needed to kill Riri. I honestly thought he was trying to convince himself more than Shuri lol)
ALSO NOT TRYING TO DEFEND NAMOR BECAUSE OMG JUST WHY BUT please don't act like he did it just because...
#mcu namor#k'uk'ulkan#black panther wakanda forever#tenoch huerta#yeah i've never been the same#brain don't imagine tenoch kissing a tapeworm queen#eww#namor has killer eyebrows though like??#namor x shuri#wakanda forever#don't come at me please#just my two cents#hi! namor's the problem fr#anti-hero#he's actually a good guy!#he's also depressed#he and cap are besties

I feel the need to point out how strong Queen Ramonda is. She has been put through so much
Her husband is killed
Killmonger comes and “kills” T’Challa
She finds out T’challa is still alive but that happiness doesn’t last long because he gets dusted for 5 years along with her daughter.
For 5 years she was ruling an entire country by herself
She dealing with other countries trying to steal vibranium
Then her kids come back and her son ACTUALLY dies
Then Shuri gets kidnapped months later and her country is at war with a nation no one knew existed
THEN SHE DIES??

illicit nights | part 2
“gimme few more minutes of this feeling. for right now time don't exist.”
shuri x black!reader | 18+
Summary: You were born and raised in Wakanda, but you chose to leave to pursue a modeling career. You've amassed global fame as an international model, gracing runway shows, featuring in luxury campaigns, and appearing in fashion magazines. You're in the spotlight, and the entire world is watching your every move. After a very public breakup, you decide to return home to reconnect with your country and the people you love.
You didn't expect to catch the attention of your sister's best friend in your attempt to get over your heartbreak, let alone end up in a private sexual relationship with said friend. The Wakandan Queen.
word count: 9k
themes: model/famous reader, queen shuri, childhood friends, hookups
warnings: very explicit sexual relations
i forgot everything… the summary. the tags. the storyline. i actually almost put up the collage that was supposed to be for part 3
i think this was the song… IDK IDK. i was supposed to re-edit it but i don’t have time. 😩🤍 y’all know how i feel about this… so DON’T 😐😒
The breeze tickled your skin as you sat outside, waiting for the sunrise. Your body had only begun to adjust to the time shift, and you usually woke up early enough to have breakfast with your mother before she left for work. The majority of your days were spent catching up with friends, spending time with Izara when she wasn't at work, and visiting some of your favorite places in your hometown—also, Shuri.
It’s been three weeks since Aneka’s party. Since you had left Shuri’s bed with the vow never to sleep together again. The next morning, when you saw Izara, she whistled at you, "Look at Miss, I don't sleep with strangers." She was sitting at the table with a half-finished plate of food. For a second, you weren't sure what she was talking about as she fixed her gaze directly on the bite marks on your neck.
To be fair, you said that there would be no kissing. You did not mention biting, but you're paying for it now. “Oh, yeah.” You speak plainly, attempting to dismiss it as nothing significant, but you know it won't work with your sister. Shuri had spent much time with her lips attached to your neck and a few scattered on your chest. You try to push the images away before they take over your mind and become too vivid.
There’s a bowl of fruit on the counter, and you make your way over to it, examining your options. Banana. Pear. Apple.
Izara keeps pushing. “How was it? Who was it? Did you get their number?” She pressed for specifics about the previous night, and it was too early for you to come up with a sensible explanation.
Ignoring your sister, you take another look at the fruit before settling on a pear and biting into it. "You're asking too many questions, hurting my brain." You speak once you've swallowed. Izara made jokes about you moving back in, but it appears she was the one who did. Despite having her own place, she came here very frequently. You're surprised she came here so early in the morning; she was probably looking for leftovers in the fridge to help with her hangover.
“She went to the market, and you’re lying. I've seen you drunk. You didn't drink much last night." She accuses, and you sigh.
Hangover or not, it’s too early to ask all these questions. "Am I your next research subject?" You sass.
She takes the hint this time. "No, I'm only observing because this means you hooked up with them sober," Izara exclaims, clamping her hands over her mouth. "They must have said something to charm you. You should see them again.” You laughed at her suggestion. Shuri was the one in question, and it couldn't happen again because-
You groan, “That’s not the point of a one-night stand.”
"Well, I guess not, but it wouldn't matter," your sister thinks. “You’ll be leaving eventually, and if you had a good time, I don’t see the harm in having another go at it.” She says carefully before picking up her fork and continuing to eat, and that's the end of it, fortunately.
There's a good chance Izara would give you different advice if she knew who you ended up taking home from Elixir that night. Your sister's words lingered in your mind for the rest of the morning. There was no harm in you and Shuri being sexually involved, considering that you would soon leave Wakanda. It was strictly between the two of you. No one else needed to know, and you're both single consenting adults. The fact that she's your sister's best friend adds a layer of complexity, but if neither of you told her, she wouldn't know. You are not required to inform her if you do not choose to.
That's why, after taking your sister's suggestion, the promise only lasted 24 hours. The next night, you were back in Shuri's bed. You weren't shocked when Shuri accepted your proposal for a no-strings-attached relationship. The two of you hadn't been drunk enough to blame your actions on altered brain chemistry the first time you slept together. Attraction and lust fueled your acts.
Since you would see each other routinely, it was important to reiterate the three terms and conditions established on the first night.
No kissing
No intimacy
Izara (no one) can never find out
With that being said, the past three weeks were filled with friends, spending time with yourself, and lots of Shuri. It was relaxing, and you weren't planning on returning to work right away, but your IMG agency team wanted to check in with you.
You were lounging on the back patio of your childhood home, laptop open, waiting for a video chat from Gabrielle, your manager. It was after midnight in LA, but she worked for you; everything was on your schedule. Your agency was lenient with you, but you understood it was because you are vital to the industry. In only a few years, you became one of the top-earning models in the agency, in high demand. Though that meant nothing in Wakanda, it meant everything out there, and as a result, you are held to a higher standard.
Logically, you knew they weren't going to get rid of you, but your stomach was knotted with anxiety, not knowing what to anticipate. Was the press slandering you as a result of your absence? Does the demand for your campaign involvement decrease?
The laptop on the table chimes, signaling Gabrielle's call, and you immediately answer, her face filling the screen. As she sees your face, her smile broadens. Her surroundings indicate that she is in her home office. The night sky could be seen through the glass windows behind her. "There she is, my lovely lady. We miss you, you know?”
"I miss you guys too." For the most part, you worked with a good group of people. Your team ensured exposure and opportunities at every fashion house, show, and campaign. The money was the product of all the hard work that had gone into everything.
"The team and I wanted to check in and see where your head's at?" Gabrielle says as she shuffles papers off to the side.
Right now is the first time you’ve thought about returning to work since coming home. There was no definite time frame in your mind of when you would return. "I mean, I've missed being in Wakanda and am happy to be back. I know I'll have to go soon, but I'm not ready yet."
Gabrielle nods her head, taking in your words. “Okay, that’s understandable. Of course, we'll give you as much time as you need, but you should be aware that you're the most talked-about person in the world right now," She informs you with a broad grin. A twinkle in her eyes indicates she has some important news to share.
In the industry, that could be good or bad. No publicity was bad publicity, but still. "What do you mean?" you question. You figured once you decided to drop off the face of the planet, it would all quiet down, and the media would go back to focusing on something else.
She responds to your question with a question of her own. “Have you been on social media recently?”
“No, I logged out of all my accounts.” You weren’t actively posting or monitoring what was being said about you.
Keyboard sounds break the stillness before Gabrielle begins again, "Okay, the good news. They're doing fantastic. Your last post a few months ago received 7 million likes. You've had a few viral tweets, and you're always trending on Twitter. Your name on search engines has skyrocketed, and many people wonder where you are. Why haven't they seen you in public?"
Your manager turns back to focus on you. "People want to know where you are and when you’re back on the runway. The phones are ringing. We have brands worldwide competing for your participation in their shows for the upcoming season."
She continues. "This has the potential to be tremendous, a defining career moment, a historic moment in fashion history. The return of Y/N to the catwalk." Gabrielle illustrates her point by moving her hands in a sweeping motion to the side, demonstrating how massive this could be.
She looks at you, eyes still sparkling with excitement.
But you’re anything but, “I don’t know. When would this be?” you ask.
"If you were interested, next month you'd have to come out for a couple of fittings for other companies," Gabrielle reads from a document. It would be completely under the radar. We'll have everyone sign NDAs, and you'll be back in Wakanda in no time." The way she puts it indicates that she considered every issue or inquiry you may have that might convince you to say no.
"The shows wouldn't be until the season starts, but you'd get rehearsal and additional fittings closer to the shows. Think about it.” The details were nothing new to you. You've been doing it for a long time. Fashion Week preparations took a significant amount of time and effort.
You pick at your nails while biting your lower lip. "I'll think about it," you answer.
The woman on the screen looks honestly surprised at your response. You get it. The entire world is waiting for you. Major fashion corporations from all over the world are vying for your attention, but you're reluctant. You would have leaped at this offer a few months ago. Her tone of voice when she mentions your name, "Y/N," is quite defeated. “You can’t let Mya win.” It's as if she's been thinking about it for a while and finally feels like she can let it out.
The mention of your ex-girlfriend irritated you a little. "What are you talking about?" Was she attempting to persuade you to make a decision?
“I mean this in the best way possible. I understand how difficult it is, but you can't hide forever. Particularly not from a chance like this." Gabrielle explains, but her comments are still hurtful.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. Don't pass it up. That's all I'm saying. You already know I want the best for you." She looks you in the eyes, yet her words sting. Were you allowing Mya to win by hiding? Was she satisfied knowing you fled due to the chain reaction your breakup caused?
This ridiculous fucking conversation. "Thank you," you say quickly, avoiding eye contact.
Gabrielle sighs, undoubtedly aware that she has upset you. She's been your manager for a while now. She is highly aware of your moods. “I’ll email you over everything, take a look and get back to me when you can. Take care of yourself.”
Your voice had escaped you. You finish the call with a polite nod.
Gabrielle assumed she was doing you a favor by presenting this ‘great’ news with her oh-so-helpful advice, but now you were filled with dread and regret. Is that what the rest of the world saw? Mya made you run? A heartbroken coward who would rather hide her face than deal with the aftermath of a poor decision to give her heart away to the wrong person. It's the first time you've cried since your split. You weren't upset over the broken romance. It was the fact that you were completely overwhelmed by the idea that Mya had won.
Here you were, at the top of your success, trying to figure out what to do next. Gabrielle wanted to make it appear as if the decision was yours. Still, how she illustrated and spoke about it being a part of fashion history made it evident that she was attempting to sway your mind into saying yes. Yet, you didn’t know if you wanted to, but you also knew in the back of your mind you’d be an idiot to pass this up.
You thought about going to Izara. Your sister was generally your go-to person in situations like these. Even though she was supportive, you knew that telling her you could be going would make her sad. Even though she still had work, you swear she spent every waking moment with you, and you would never complain about being in your sister's company.
It was reassuring to know you had time to think about it, at least because your mind was not in the ideal place to make such important decisions right now. You were in a daze all day, but your spirits lightened when you helped your mother test new recipes for her bakery. When your mother retired, she decided to run a bakery. She spent her whole life as a culinary master and was delighted to share her food with others. You grinned and joyfully took all the sweets she placed in your mouth. You were responsible for informing her if she needed to add more sugar or if the dough required additional butter; it was a tedious job.
Around 3 o’clock, you get a text.
Be here at 10.
Shuri. After typing a short response, you put your phone aside and spent the remainder of the day with your mom. The process of trying out new recipes was time-consuming, but she needed your help, and it was keeping your mind off of other stresses.
"You're distracted," Shuri accuses. Today was the fourth night you've been over this week; it's probably due to a lack of sex life in the months leading up to your breakup, but sex with Shuri is addictive. It's as if she passed a master class in your body, bringing forth noises you'd never heard yourself make. Reaching parts of your body you didn't know existed. Perhaps because there was no expectation of long-term dedication or closeness, which also played a role. Once the night's events were over, you dressed and went home, waiting for the next time you or Shuri sent a text arranging your subsequent encounter.
There was never any foreplay. This was supposed to be fast enough for both of you to get it out of your system and go before anyone became suspicious. That was mostly your mother and sister. Fewer people were in the halls at this time, and the queen's floor had restricted access. Except for Dora, no one was up here. Ayo always met you outside the palace to accompany you in and out as a precaution.
Shuri usually had you naked and trembling when you opened the door, but today, you were lazily sitting on top of her, rotating your hips. Zoned out. Her voice pulls your attention. "I'm not," you exhale, blinking and looking down.
Her hands come up to your waist, forcing you to stop. “You are,” Shuri argues.
Though it was a slow rhythm, the loss of it made you whine. “Stop arguing with me and get on with it.” You complain, brushing your hair away from your face. You should have tied it up. You'll have to redo it when you get home.
"You want me to get on with it?" she says, her brows furrowed. “You're on top of me."
The thought crosses your mind, "Can you take over?" you ask, sighing. She watches you with suspicion from her position below you. You can sense she wants to continue the subject, but there are other moments to start talking about everything bothering you.
Shuri is quiet for a minute before holding out her arms and saying, "Come here," You fall into her embrace, lying on her chest. The calm is only momentary as Shuri puts her arms around you, supporting her feet on the mattress, and thrusts up into you.
Surrendering to Shuri was a better idea than being in control. You lay in her grasp while she takes you apart, bringing you to that state of euphoria your body has grown accustomed to in recent weeks. That beautiful feeling you get after orgasm puts your mind at ease.
It's 2 a.m. when you're tugging your sweatpants over your hips. "It truly wounds my ego that you can walk away every time." In response to Shuri's vulgar joke, you roll your eyes.
"You know, I'm a model. I've walked away from worse circumstances." Rebalancing after an intense release was nothing if you could stroll down a runway in 120mm Louboutins. She's standing there, watching you get ready. She was waiting for you downstairs, where Ayo would meet and accompany you to your car.
You're about to tell Shuri you're ready to go when she asks, "Are you okay?"
Was she seriously going to bring this up once more? You lied when you said, "I'm alright," but you would be fine. The news from your manager was a lot to take in, and after reviewing the emails and all the details, it became clear how vast of an opportunity you had been given on a silver platter. Yet accepting this would mean being forced back into the spotlight without knowing if all of the previous gossip had finally died down. Even more so, being in Wakanda made you remember what taking a step back and breathing felt like. In Gabrielle's opinion, turning it down meant that your ex would win the prize, seeing you fragile and heartbroken.
There was too much to think about, and you couldn't unload it all on Shuri. This was not the type of interaction. You'd both gotten what you came for, and it was time to go.
Shuri must suspect you're not telling the truth. "You know," she begins. “We are still friends.” She's staring at you with seriousness, yet it's unsettling. You've never been close.
You tilt your head in reaction to her statement. You weren't friends; you spent time with Shuri when you were younger, but it was because you were stuck to your sister's hip. Izara adored you and would never push you away, even while you were in the company of her friends. However, once you gained independence, you rarely saw Izara's friends. “We are not friends. You’re my sister's friend.” You put more emphasis on it.
Shuri shakes her head, disagreeing. "That's not to say we're not friends, though." And there is a hint of disbelief in her tone.
"Name one thing we've done together," you challenged, your hands on your hips. Shuri's smirk and the way her eyes look across to the bed you've just finished in tell you exactly what's on her mind.
"When we were kids!" You exclaimed, a flush spreading across your face. She was irritable at times.
Shuri chuckles, amused by your reaction. “I’m trying to say that being Izara’s friend never meant I didn’t care about you.” Sharing your sentiments and emotions with anyone requires you to be attentive, clear, calm, and compassionate. All of these factors lead to genuine intimacy and trust. That didn't help bridge the distance you were attempting to build between you.
“I appreciate that, but I’m fine.” The tone of finality in your voice was enough to make Shuri drop the topic.
The emails Gabrielle sent you were overwhelming once you saw just how many brands there were. Dior offered you ten million dollars to start and end their show. Mugler, Tony Ward, Zahair Murad... You had previously worked with some of these fashion houses while you had just fantasized about others, and now your fantasies were coming true.
You'd be back on the radar of all the celebrity news and gossip websites if you resurfaced in the spotlight. Though, your split with Mya was in the past. What if people continue to link you to her? Mya Hope’s Ex-girlfriend, Y/N, reemerges from the dead after her ex forced her into hiding- oh, and she’s also headlining fashion week. Will your accomplishments become an afterthought?
Despite better judgment, you enter the actress's name into a web search. The universe intervenes just as you're about to torture yourself by pressing enter. The phone rings, and your sister's picture flashes on the screen.
Izara calls to invite you to her apartment to hang out. "I'll be me, you, and Shuri," she says. Immediately, it was odd she wanted all three of you to spend time together. You could understand if it was a group outing. But the three of you together? You haven’t done that since you were kids.
“Shuri?” you repeat.
“Yes, Shuri, it was her idea.” Naturally, it was. It seemed as though she was attempting to prove you wrong. You have no idea why Shuri suddenly became interested in your acquaintance, but it was completely unwarranted. Did she not realize Izara was too observant for her own good and could quickly detect something off between you if you suddenly became too close?
As far as she’s concerned, you and Shuri haven’t seen each other since Elixir three weeks ago. You put your laptop away, feeling even more nervous and anxious. One issue at a time.
You tried to come up with an excuse. You have been doing that a lot lately. “I don’t want to interfere. I have plenty of alone time with you-”
“No!” Izara is quick to cut you off, unwilling to hear any excuse. “How often will I have my two favorite people over?” And you give in because you would do anything to make your sister happy.
That's how you end up at Izara's on a Tuesday evening. Your anxiety was high. What if you and Shuri seemed a little too at ease around each other, and your sister noticed that something had changed between you two? The days of Shuri thinking of you as "Izara's little sister" were long gone since you began hooking up.
When you arrived, Shuri was already in the kitchen, helping your sister prepare snacks. Izara ushered you into the living room, handing you a blanket and telling you to relax.
She temporarily abandoned her duties in the kitchen to get you comfortable. “Shuri and I normally try to do this every once and a while,” Izara explains, turning on the television. “But I don’t mind you crashing. I want to spend as much as possible with you before you leave.” There’s a frown on her face at the thought. A ping of guilt hits you. You can’t imagine going from seeing someone every day since birth to barely spending time with them and being constantly miles away from you.
Your sister and Shuri shared the couch while you cuddled in the armchair alone. It was probably paranoia, but you didn’t want to give away anything that would suspect anything about the rendezvous you've gotten up to these past few weeks. You couldn’t believe Shuri had gotten the two of you into the situation. The woman in question emerges from the kitchen carrying two bowls of popcorn.
She holds the smaller one out to you, “I thought it would be easier for you.”
“How thoughtful,” you say, forcing a smile as you accept the bowl.
That was the first interaction you’ve had throughout the night. You both sat in your respective seats, enjoying the movie. It was good enough that it kept your attention. Occasionally, you would steal glances over at Shuri and find her already looking at you. Could she be more obvious?
Halfway into the movie, Izara hits pause on the remote, much to Shuri’s dismay. “Seriously, Zar, you could have stopped at a worse time.”
Izara’s moving the bowl of popcorn she and Shuri had been sharing onto the table. “I know we’re almost at the end, but I have to pee!”
“Hurry up!” Shuri calls as your sister throws the blanket off her and runs out of the room. You can’t help but laugh at the exchange.
The sound catches Shuri’s attention, and the laughter in your throat dies when you realize you two are alone. Without the movie or your sister’s presence, you can freely glare at her, crossing your arms to emphasize your mood toward her. “Can you stop glaring at me?”
“You’re the one staring at me.” you accuse.
Shuri rolls her eyes, “That’s because I can feel you glaring at me. Stop.”
“No, you did this on purpose, you know? You didn’t ask me if I wanted to be here tonight. You told Izara, knowing I couldn’t tell her no.” It wasn’t an accusation, simply a fact.
Shuri would never outright admit it. Instead, she flashed you a small grin. “This is a completely normal evening.”
You roll your eyes, “I shouldn’t be here, and you know that.”
“Y/N. Do you not realize how ridiculous this is?”
"You don't think it's strange that we're now making plans to spend time together after almost a decade?" While you and Shuri were alone, there was no one else there. You didn't have to be mindful of how you interacted with each other. As you began to spend more time together, especially around your sister, you would have to be extra conscious of what you were doing.
“No, I don’t.” Shuri protested. You wanted to throw the bowl of popcorn at her but opted for flicking her off and going back to ignoring her.
Given the lack of noise, you can follow your sister's movement back into the living room as she exits the restroom. “Okay! Press play,” Izara calls, announcing her return and Shuri’s pressing resume before she even has a chance to resettle on the couch.
In all honesty, Shuri chose a good film. Several actors were unfamiliar, leading you to believe it was an indie production. The storyline was interesting enough to hold your attention, and the plot twist was unexpected, which was a plus. Even though it was interesting, you were relieved when it was over.
"This was fun," Izara said afterward. Getting the dishes ready to bring into the kitchen. "It's been a while since I've seen you two together."
You’re helping with cleaning, folding the blankets, and arranging them neatly on the couch. When the comment gets your attention, You blink a few times, unsure what to say.
Purposely, and you know it’s on purpose. Shuri says, “We should find time to do this again,”
“Yes!” your sister agrees, looking at you. You hum in agreement because you can openly oppose the idea without alerting your sister's suspicions. You believe the discussion will stop there, with the hope of you hanging together again, but there are no firm plans, so nothing is certain.
Then Izara mentions, “Oh! We’re going to the beach on Saturday. You should come with us, Shuri.” You discussed it last weekend while out to lunch with your friend Eshe. Eshe told you about her and a few other people's plans for the upcoming weekend and agreed that the more, the merrier.
You shoot a glance at Shuri, giving her a look silently, begging her to say no, as Izara awaits her answer. Shuri looks you in the eye, “I would love to.”
Right then. You decide that she must despise you.
You and Shuri then depart Izara's after the cleaning is done. When you leave her apartment and head to your respective vehicles, she tells you both to drive safely and message her when you get home.
Shuri heads for the elevator, but you take the stairs instead. You decide to take your time and assume Shuri is already gone because the elevator is faster, but as soon as you exit the building, you see her leaning against the passenger door. Her determination is sexy, but you were annoyed. You bypassed her, going directly to the driver's side.
You managed to get into the driver's seat but couldn't close the door fast enough. “Move.”
Shuri leans inside the car, sighing hard. "Are you seriously upset with me?" Her tone is stoic.
"Are you really coming on Saturday?" You make fun of her serious style.
There is complete silence as Shuri's expression tightens. "Do you want me to come?" she finally says.
Now she needs your input on something. "Clearly, it doesn't matter what I think. You can do whatever you want." You reach for the door once more, but Shuri straightens her posture and shuts it for you.
She didn't contact you again for several days after that night. You didn't think much the first day. She was probably allowing you to calm down. The longer the week went on without so much as a "you up?" text or phone call, the more concerned you became. You realized how irrational you were by the time Saturday rolled around. Mainly because everything in your life had been unpredictable and uncertain. The one sense of consistency was Shuri, and now you don't have that.
You have no idea why you were so adamant about proving to Shuri that the two of you were not close. You had no reason to treat her as you did; the regret was tearing you up inside. You thought you wanted to put as much distance between you as possible, but now that you have it, it drives you insane.
This is why, when Saturday came along, you were excited at the possibility of seeing Shuri in person.
As you arrive at the beach, you immediately notice your sister setting up and laying out a towel. There are a few people you recognize surrounding her. Two of them are your friends, Eshe and Visola. But there was no Shuri.
You put your tote bag down on the ground and asked, "Is everyone here?" since it seems less suspicious than asking for one individual in particular.
"Shuri couldn't make it," Izara replies, spreading the patterned blanket on the sand.
She’s not coming. "Did she mention why?" you question, trying not to seem too disappointed. Was she upset with you?
Your sister shakes her head. “No. She tried to keep the phone call short, but I knew her. She can’t keep anything from me.”
Want to bet?
Izara frowns. "There's a lot of pressure on her in her duties as Queen. It's hard to make everyone happy in politics." Working with Shuri, she certainly knows more about what's going on than she can say, but it's reassuring to know she wasn't avoiding you but was merely responding to more immediate issues.
You don’t say anything else, not wanting to show too much interest. Others joined you, a mix of individuals you knew and strangers. The people you were getting to know asked you many questions about your life as a model, which you gratefully answered.
Wakanda had some of the world's finest beaches, where you could decompress with the sand between your toes and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore. Your thoughts turned to Shuri. Why was she avoiding you? Was this her way of ending things? Have you overcomplicated things?
You couldn’t just outright ask forgiveness and say, “Let’s have sex,” that just seemed rude. But you needed to find a way to start a conversation.
You took a quick body selfie of yourself in the bikini and sent it to Shuri, writing, "Can't believe you're not here." That was playful enough to be true to the essence of your relationship while still acting as a check-in. If she texted you back, you could ask her why she wasn't here, hoping she'd be honest and not simply brush it off.
Shuri would reply as soon as she could; she had pressing matters to attend to. There was nothing you could do but wait, which was excruciating. Hours had passed while you swam, ate, laughed, and drank. Between it all, you couldn't help but check your phone for a single person's message. Nothing.
"You've been checking your phone all day," says Eshe as you collapse back down into your towel.
In the distance, you can see Izara building a sandcastle with some little kids who became drawn to her earlier in the day. "I have?" you say, pretending to be surprised. You knew your phone had barely left your hands today, except when you entered the water.
“Yes! Whoever that is, I hope to Bast that they respond soon." Eshe probably thought you were talking to someone. She's grinning at you, openly inviting you to divulge more details, but you're not going to do it.
“It’s not like that.” You explain leaving it at that. You felt bad, and not knowing how Shuri felt made you uneasy. This was really ironic... You felt like a dumbass.
Eshe rises to her feet, extending out a hand. "Whoever this is isn't thinking about you right now, and you shouldn't either. Give it some time." And you already know she's correct. Checking your phone was not going to speed up the response.
You reluctantly lock your phone and hand it over. Eshe grins and stuffs it inside the discarded shorts she wore over her bikini.
You squeeze every last bit of enjoyment out of the day before the sun goes down and the temperature drops. Along with the collection of selfies you took, you snapped a couple of photos of the sunset and Izara's sandcastle, which you helped find seashells to decorate it. Overall, you had a good time, and before you shower, you show your mother some of the photos you took. "Such a lovely smile. It's no surprise you choose to share it with the rest of the world." The comment warms your heart and serves as a reminder of how proud your mom is of you. She kisses you on the cheek before retiring to bed.
Shuri texts you close to midnight as if she can sense your never-ending thoughts about her.
I know it's late, but can you please come over?
After reading the text message, you feel relieved that 1. she wasn't mad with you. 2. Despite the fact that you've been a brat over the last few days, she was still interested in your arrangement.
Be there soon.
You immediately reply, changing into shorts and a hoodie, easier to take off.
The A.I. system recognizes your face, so the doors to Shuri’s living quarters open up as soon as you arrive. “You didn’t answer my text, you know. You’re lucky I don’t hold grudges-“ the joke quickly dies as you notice Shuri pacing around the room when you enter. She's dressed in her bed attire, which tells you she probably tried to get to bed but couldn’t with whatever was running through her mind.
She clearly isn't fine. "I apologize it’s so late. I've spent the entire day working on social and other issues, and-" She sighs, cutting herself off, her shoulders slouching.
"You're not going to like hearing all of this. All I need is to get my mind off of today." You've been overthinking, and the last few days have given you mental clarity.
You see, you're the problem, and maybe you've been taking it out on Shuri, who was trying to do nothing but be there for you, but you chose to push her away. This arrangement was supposed to be fun, but you've recently caused tension by acting in ways that seem intended to demonstrate to Shuri that you were not friends and that there's nothing left between you. What the hell is the matter with you?
Shuri has had a difficult day. They are to be expected, given the amount of responsibility she carries. While you wouldn't mind if she fucked you to vent her frustration, it wouldn't help her sense of peace. It would only be a temporary relief, and as soon as you left, she’d be right back inside her head stressing. That's when you decided to prioritize her pleasure. You would apologize another time.
You make your way over to her, removing your shoes. "It's alright, just breathe," you say as you take her hand in yours. You pull her into you and begin kissing her neck, creating a safe zone. Stripping her of her clothing, you guide Shuri over to her bed. "Lay back." You speak in her ear, and she complies.
You switched positions. Shuri was the one who needed your support to forget about the stress. Her legs parting instinctively, you bring your fingers between her folds to feel her, and she’s dripping. You wanted to make sure she made the most of this opportunity to focus on herself and her comfort.
A thought occurs to you. "I'd like you to take deep breaths in and out." You tell her, caressing her on the outside but not delving into where she needs you the most. You knew deep breathing was a good activity that helped stimulate tranquility and restore stability; it always came in handy before runway shows.
"I want you to say 'In' when you feel me inside of you," you finally say, sliding one finger into her wetness and feeling her clench around you. A breath of release lips passes her lips as you watch some of the tension melt away. "And when you feel me pulling away, say 'out' and take a deep breath."
You pull your finger back for a second, swiping along the ridged pleasure point and massaging her inner walls. Shuri responds with an "In," and as you retract, moving out and stroking around the outside of her entrance, she responds with an "Out."
The two of you continued with that pattern until Shuri's voice trailed off, no longer speaking as she relaxed into sheets.
"You need and deserve this. To be able to breathe and feel happy." You tell her quietly, taking pleasure in the way her face contorts in delight.
Breathy gasps escape her lips as she concentrates on the sensation of your fingers stroking around her, unconcerned about the tension of the day.
Your fingers were drenched in her juices, and the more you felt the moisture inside her, the more you wished to taste it. You get on your stomach with your head buried in between Shuri's legs. Shuri relaxed into your touch as you massaged circles into her skin, aware that the pleasure she was experiencing had enhanced her sensitivity.
Her fingers grasped the sheets, and her abs tensed in anticipation. You slid your tongue around the inner and outside folds before beginning a gentle licking with a flat tongue around the entire surface area. The moans from her lips turned you on and left you damp.
It was nice to concentrate only on Shuri's satisfaction. You appreciated the way her hips stuttered as you took her apart. As you pushed her further and further into ecstasy, she lapped up the sensations of arousal her body provided.
She was definitely close, and you couldn't wait to taste her on your tongue. Shuri soon had her hips working in little circles as she pressed into your fingers, chasing her orgasm. Moaning became increasingly audible.
You softly coaxed her inner walls with two fingers pushed inside her. "Mmm, Y/N," Shuri says as she calls your name. Her walls are spasming around you, and you know she's coming. Her breathing is labored, and you appreciate her strength because she's still careful not to squeeze her thighs around your head even though she's breaking.
You focus on her clit, sucking in tandem with your fingers, and soon she's letting out those lovely sounds, and her body jolts as you feel her release.
"Do you feel better?" you ask, happy at the satisfaction on her face.
"Yeah," Shuri confirms as she sinks lower into the bedding. Hopefully, she'll be able to sleep soon. You get out of bed and are ready to leave when she snaps her head up. "Where are you going?"
“Home.” You answer, straightening out the wrinkles in your hoodie from lying on the bed.
“Now? I figured we were going to-," She started, but you stopped her.
"I'd love to have sex with you, but I think you should rest. You're obviously overworked," you observed, frowning.
Her tone of voice shifts. “You think I’m going to let you leave my room without coming?” She's in charge now and not interested in a debate.
“I-“ The way she keeps cutting you off indicates that there isn't much you can say to convince her.
Shuri continues, “Giving you pleasure is relaxing. I like concentrating on you,” she admits. And that breaks you. How could you deny her? It’s enough to make you stop, but you don’t proceed to the bed, waiting for her next command.
"Take off your hoodie." She gave the order. You take the ends of the hoodie and pull it over your head. “Shorts,” Her instructions are brief but effective. You're not standing there in your bra and underwear, waiting for her next command, which never comes. Shuri simply lifts her eyebrows, and her look conveys all. She need not speak a word to command your submission. She already holds it.
You reach around to release the bra clasp, allowing the fabric to fall to the floor. Shuri is biting her lower lip as she watches you take your time slipping your panties down your legs.
You climb back onto the bed, this time with your exposed body straddling Shuri's waist. You're in the same situation you were in a few days ago, but this time no other issues are distracting you. Shuri had you under her control.
“Are you happy?” Shuri seems absolutely ravenous, eyes burning with hunger. She can't get enough of you undressed, no matter how many times she's seen you. Her desire for you never dies.
"That's not where I want you," she says, biting her lower lip again. Shuri's voice is low, silky, and seductive, and you can feel yourself getting aroused at the sound of it.
“Where do you want me?” you breathe. You were unprepared for what she said next.
She points to her face, “Up here.” Shuri chuckles at the expression on your face. Completely surprised she was requesting such a thing.
You purse your lips, contemplating her request, “Shuri, that’s-“
Her hand grabs your ass, squeezing. "Don't make me tell you again. I hate repeating myself.” The hand on your backside is a warning. Knowing what would happen if she had to tell you again, you're nearly tempted to disobey.
Carefully, you climb up her body until her head is between your thighs, supporting your weight on the knees. In anticipation, you hover above her face, fingers gripping the headboard. "Mm, it's been four days, and she really misses me."
In this position, Shuri had complete access to your sensual zone and the most important spots to stimulate. She drags her mouth across your clit, as if sampling before diving in. Stretching her neck up to take the sensitive bud into her mouth and sucking, you can feel the flat of her tongue licking side to side in unison.
"S-Shuri," you gasp, already stuttering. You had to be careful not to put all your weight on her face, no matter how much you wanted to get lost in the feelings. You were intent on not harming her in the back of your mind. Both the pleasure of Shuri's actions and the effort of maintaining your balance cause a burning sensation in your core and a trembling in your thighs.
Shuri's tattooed hand reaches out from your waist and rubs across your skin. You whimper at the separation of her lips from you. "Stop thinking and ride my face," Shuri murmurs quietly beneath you. Her words make your pussy clench.
You readjust your position slightly. "I don't want to hurt you." You've had plenty of sexual interactions, but this was the first time you'd been asked to ride someone's face.
As teeth penetrate into the flesh, you feel a stinging ache on your right thigh. The ache lasts for a split second before transforming into pleasure that has you gasping. "Did you really just bite me?"
"If you did what I asked, I'd be doing something else with my mouth. Can you be a good girl?" Shuri's words are breathed directly into your heat as if she's speaking to it.
"I love watching your pussy react to my words." Although you can't see her face, you can hear her smirk in her words. Cocky. It was difficult to loosen up even when your muscles were begging for you to do so. Even if you want to, you are afraid of hurting her; there was no place for argument in the face of such a dominating tone. Shuri grabs your waist with a punishing hold and lowers you to sit on her face.
The sensation of feeling her beneath you is exhilarating. Her tongue moves slowly around your clit, igniting your pleasure in small sparks that will gradually consume your body.
Shuri's hands on your hips encourage you to rock back gently against her face. You submit. Considering Shuri's strength, you know that if you wind up injuring her, she'll quickly remove you. You rest one hand on the wall for support, slightly moving your hips as if testing. You were attempting to appreciate it, knowing that it was making you feel good as part of Shuri's relaxation. You kept rocking as she flicked her tongue on your clit, your knuckles paling as you grasped the headboard tighter.
Shuri is massaging reassuring circles into your thigh, letting you know relaxing and enjoying yourself is okay. Shuri was no longer licking into you with her tongue, allowing you complete control of your pleasure, and the fact that she was letting you use her made you increasingly wet. "Fuck," you exhaled, moving your hips and grinding against her lips.
Shuri effortlessly lifts you up to take a breath. “You’re doing so good, baby girl.” The name sends shivers up your spine. When Shuri lets you back on her face, she keeps her tongue still, allowing you to grind against it. You're thankful for this experience; it was so unique you can't imagine never feeling like this again. Hips snapping straight up and down, you find a rhythm and lose yourself.
"Shuri, I-I-" you cut yourself off with a gasp, and your mouth opens wide. The delicate, breathy sounds you used to make have vanished, replaced by loud, high-pitched moans.
Sensing you’re close, Shuri cups your breast, rubbing the sensitive bud between her fingers. The additional sensation causes your lips to falter. One of your hands lets go of the bed, clutching the wrist connected to the fingers holding your chest.
Your free hand grips the headboard, adjusting the pressure and pace. When you come, it’s with a scream of Shuri’s name you’re sure anyone on the floor could hear. Your brain whites out as your body curls in on itself. You try to move away from Shuri's face, but her grip keeps you there as she refocuses her attention on the fluids released during your climax. Her tongue laps hungrily across your pussy.
It was most undoubtedly the most intense orgasm you'd ever had. You're not even aware that tears are welling up in your eyes.
“Shuri! Fuck! Please, Shuri!" You cried, your voice rising in octaves as your stomach tightened. You will never be able to compete with Shuri's strength. She won't let you go until she's satisfied, at which point you collapse against the wall, exhausted. Your legs continue to twitch, and your body is oversensitive, yet you move lower till you're on her chest.
Shuri swiped two of her fingers inside of you as she watched you pant and struggle to come down. Your breath hitched, and your legs shook a little more. Coated in your come, Shuri brought them to her lips. She needed more, as if she wasn’t already covered in you. You lowered your gaze. Her face glistened, and you brought your mouth to her chin, sucking at the flesh and using your tongue to clean yourself off her. “Such a nasty girl.” you just moan in response, moving to the other side of her face.
You slide off her body and onto the empty side of the bed next to her. Closing your eyes. “Someone’s sleepy,” Shuri's tone is teasing.
Your eyelids are fluttering open, “How are you not tired?”
“Stamina, it’s a gift from Bast.” She moves closer to you, and the next time you open your eyes, she looks down at you.
Taking in your tiredness Shuri informs you, “You know you can stay, right? I don't kick you out or anything. You leave as soon as we're through." That is true. Shuri will never ask you to leave. You take the initiative since there was never any reason for you to stay. But your body is against the idea of standing up right now. You can't get up, so Shuri must have gotten her wish.
Instead of responding vocally, you wrap your sweaty body deeper under the covers. She should really change these.
Shuri speaks up again when she notices this. "Thank you for stopping by. I know you're upset with me."
This time you mumble, “I’m not mad at you.” Face shoved into the pillow.
“Really? Because you slammed the car door in my face the last time I saw you."
You turn to face her, and your eyes are half-closed. "Your pillow talk is awful."
There's a moment between you, and Shuri's expression is filled with uncertainty. She is hesitant to express her feelings. You're trying to appear interested, fighting against your body's exhaustion. Maybe this talk should have happened before you had sex. “Whatever is on your mind. Say it,” you encourage instead of shutting her out.
She takes another minute before saying, "I don't want you to think that all I want from you is sex. You're not some random person, Y/N. I've known you practically my entire life, so come to me if you have a problem."
“That’s why I told Zar to invite you to the movie night.” She explains. “I just don’t want you to think I see you as a body where you can’t tell me when you’re feeling down. It makes me feel shitty.”
You’re apologetic. “ I'm sorry. I didn't notice." You had no idea how Shuri was feeling. It must be difficult as well. She could not view you like a warm body and renounce her caring attitude toward you.
Since she was so honest, you told her what you failed to do many nights ago. "I received a call from my manager," you explain. "I have opportunities flying into my lap, and of course, I'm living my dream as the most in-demand model in the world right now, but I don't know what to do. I don't know what I'm doing for the first time in my life, and it stresses me out." The words flow freely off your lips, spilling out everything you've been feeling, and it feels really good. You understand how stressful it was to hold all that in and be burdened with so much anxiety and despair.
You sigh, adding, "And the only normalcy I have is sleeping with my sister's best friend." Saying it out loud puts into perspective the reason for your actions these past few days. Subconsciously, you were concerned that spending too much time with Shuri and opening up about your feelings might jeopardize what you had—realizing now how natural it is to talk to each other without awkward silences or pauses between. You may not have actively pursued a strong friendship, but you care about her well-being as much as she does about yours.
Shuri groans next to you, “Don’t say it like that.”
“It’s true,” you mumble, sinking deeper into the comfort of Shuri’s sheets. They smelled like her and sex, but mostly like her. Your body settled into relaxation post-orgasm, and you felt yourself getting sleepy again, eyes hazy.
“Whatever decision you make, you have people who care for and fully support you.” Shuri’s words are comforting and true.
You smile, eyes closing again. “And I know I said we’re not friends, but you’ve always been in my life,” you admit.
To summarize. “You’re you, and I’m me, and we’re just us.” The smile on Shuri’s face tells you she’s content with that.
“Wake me up in like an hour,” your body no longer has the strength to fight off sleep. You turn around and finally shut your eyes.
When you reopen your eyes, you're surprised by your surroundings. This room is way too large to be your own, and there's a lot of sunlight streaming in through the windows. You sit up, aware that you are still in the Citadel. Shuri isn't next to you, but you can hear noises coming from the bathroom and assume she's getting ready for the day. You adapt to the light by blinking a few times, feeling clear-headed and revitalized.
Who says you can't solve your troubles with amazing sex and a good night's sleep? You stand up and begin your usual practice of playing hide and seek with your clothes. Shuri has returned to the room by the time you're dressed, and her eyes widen as she sees you awake.
You playfully narrow your gaze on her. "I said one hour," you complain, but your words have no bite.
Shuri defends herself by raising her palms. "In my defense, I fell asleep."
You grab your car keys as you smile at her surrendering. "I think I should go." You've definitely overstayed your welcome.
"I'll have Griot direct Ayo to keep the hallway to the rear entrance clear for the next ten minutes." She is already planning your getaway, and you can’t help the laugh that manages to escape you.
“What’s so funny?” Shuri inquires, her expression questioning.
“You are using the Dora Milaje to distract people so you can get your sneaky link out of the palace undetected.” You chastise, mockingly shaking your head.
Shuri laughs and tilts her head. “You have such a colorful way of describing things.”
Before you leave, Shuri asks, “Are we good?”
"We're fine," you say.
Shuri smiles and nods.
As you walk away, your cheeks begin to hurt from smiling so much.

confusion, confusion, it's life, and illusion. you’re with me right now, next thing you're gone. but i need you on my skin closure, like closure, baby.
the music blasts through your ears, the steady vibrations stimulating you sufficiently, working well in keeping you from getting distracted from the current art piece you worked on. the world around you seemed muted as the tones of green, brown, and orange danced across your canvas, the oil paint was firm but still allowed room for error, encouraging it even – your favourite medium for that reason.
a slow succession of knocks sound under the thump of your music, the door to your studio opening and closing with two soft clicks, the person not making themselves known to you. though, a smile creeps on your lips – having recognised the knocking pattern, “by now you should know that creeping up on me after you’ve knocked is futile, right?” your hand reaching towards your stereo to lower the piercing volume.
you place your palette on the covered table to your side, the dirty paintbrush following suit as you stand to turn to face her, your arms lift into a stretch then fall to fix the unruly bun of the lace on your head as you finally set your gaze on her. she’s standing in the doorway, her hands buried in the pockets of her baggy black sweatpants, a matching oversized black hoodie sitting on her torso, the accents of dark purple shifting as she lifts her hands into surrender, and there’s mischief dancing in her eyes.
“i will never understand how you do that when i quite literally have the stealth of a panther.”
she’s smiling at you as she speaks, her voice is playful and light as you begin to pack up your belongings, “i don’t know, your majesty. maybe, just maybe, the deadly black panther has met her match.” you’re giggling as you say it, unaware of the inner turmoil you’ve thrown shuri in to.
the air quietens down as you raise your eyes to look at her, your sweep of the room to make sure it’s presentable for your arrival tomorrow complete, and you seem to realise what has transpired, what you insinuated. shuri’s gazing at you with a deep but unreadable expression, one that has you averting your eyes over an awkward chuckle as you walk towards her.
“that, she has.” her voice is deep, and serious, as it slithers up your body, wafting with your intake of breath to settle in the depths of your lungs. her words carry a depth you’re familiar with, or at least, were familiar with, one that spoke of her devotion to you, her love and respect for you, her desires and promises to make you, her queen.
you clear your throat before moving around her tall frame to step out of the small, now tense, space. your heart flutters as she quickly reaches out to open the door for you, her cologne permeating your psyche as it washes over you – jasmine and warm musk on top of cedar and bourbon vanilla, all wrapped within the sensual flamboyancy of roses.
you walk to the elevator and step into the space, the music is soothing as you sigh out and drop your head side to side in a stretch, you had been sat unmoving for a long period of time, “i always tell you to take stretching breaks to ease the strain on your body.” shuri’s voice is teasing but you can hear the firmness floating through the crevices of it. your eyes reach to look up at her, your lips parting on a snarky remark, but the ding of a stop on another floor has you pausing; then there are two things happening simultaneously.
firstly, a group of college boys is stepping into the small space and, secondly, shuri’s reaching both her hands to rest firmly on the skin of either of your shoulders, slightly pressing against you to shift your body away from the rowdy boys, guiding you to face slightly away from them, as she steps forward to press against you, giving the one that was nearest to you a curt but taunting smile, as if she’s daring them to touch you.
the action is so swift and so instinctive that it’s over before you even get to blink twice, but it wakes up your aching body, provoking it into calling out for her. you feel its call in the warmth pulsing through you, the sweep of your stomach, and the racing of your heart. her head dips to where her soft curls skim the skin of your collarbone, her nose barely brushing against the arch of your neck, and your head is tilting slightly for her, your body reacts before your mind can process, clearly yearning for her closeness.
“what were you saying, s’thandwa?”
she breathes the words into your skin, her hands squeezing your shoulders before they’re slipping down your arms and coming to rest on the heated skin of your waist, pulling you into her so her chest presses against the length of your back; and you’re embarrassed. you can feel the rapid glances of the others beside you, though their conversation never ceases, and you know that shuri’s doing this on purpose. she knows that no matter how much you deny it, your body vibrates with the idea of her possessing you like this, owning you where there’s nothing to shield the clench of your thighs from prying eyes; she knows you bask in the humiliation of it.
you shake your head to clear your thoughts, “it’s fine, it wasn’t important.” you almost flinch when you hear how breathy your voice sounds, the heat rising to your face but moving to settle in the pit of your stomach. shuri’s chuckle is taunting as she breathes you in, her head dropping slightly and you can feel her lips curling as she skims a phantom kiss on your sweet skin, and you swear when your head clears, you’re going to kill shuri udaku.
the doors ring open to the ground floor and shuri guides your body out, no longer pressed against you as she takes to wrapping her arm around your shoulder and your head finally clears. “you are such a fucking ass, actually,” her boisterous laugh is cutting you off as she turns to look down at you, amusement dancing in her eyes.
“looking out for you is being an ass, my love?” she teases. your eyes roll as you throw her arm off of you, her laugh only intensifying as she brings her hands to clap obnoxiously. the muscles of your heart seize as you regard her, you love her so much, why’d she have to confuse you like this?
“shut the fuck up, i’ll see you tonight.” you try to look annoyed, but a series of giggles are escaping you as you walk away, your apartment only a block away. you’re adjusting the bag on your shoulder when shuri’s voice rings out in agreement, her laugh quelling as she watches you go, a sigh taking its place as the longing grips her once again.
⤠
you roll your lips to spread your lipgloss and reach to put the tube in the black bag you decided to carry tonight, rocking your hips to the beat of baby boy reverbarating through the walls of your apartment as you deem yourself ready. you spin your back to the mirror, your eyes sliding to gaze over your shoulder as you give yourself a once over, the length of your skirt was daring, provocative, just how you liked it.
the knocking at your door has you grabbing your bag and ruffling out your hair, allowing the bangs to frame your face cheekily because you know shuri likes it when you look a little bit of a mess for her, not that you wanted to look good for her or anything along those lines. the door swings open, your previous smile dropping as you lay your eyes on her, sweeping your gaze down her lithe frame as your glossy lips part, she needed you bad; shuri’s doing the same, her tongue coming out to lick her lips as her dark eyes burn into the skin of your legs, she had always been a leg girl.
your eyes snap up at the clearing of her throat, and she’s smirking at you before leaning into your space, her arms wrapping slowly around your waist, pressing you against her firmly as she brings her lips to your ear, “bast, you’re killing me, baby.”
the words end with a grunt as she slips one of her hands down your hips to play with the hem of your skirt, “this fucking skirt, you’re a little slut for attention, hm.” her voice is soft and cooing like she’s praising you, and her fingers grazing the skin of your thigh paired with the tenderness of her tone coaxes you into accepting the praise.
you let out a low whimper, the heat of your core bringing you to clench your thighs slightly, shuri chuckles condescendingly before pulling away, lifting your hand to her lips to graze your knuckles before she’s pulling you away, guiding you to her car. the ride is a short but electrified one, god what kind of exes slash friends were you?
the party is in full blast by the time you two arrive, music blasting through the house and flowing into both the back and front yards, you could feel the vibrations settle in the marrow of your bones as you make your way inside, still being guided by shuri. she moves through the crowd just like a panther; gracefully, instinctively, moving with the aura of the apex predator she was, she greets people as she enters the kitchen, using the grip on your hand to seat you on an empty barstool before she starts to prepare some drinks for you.
you’re joined by some of your friends, and soon you’re laughing, enjoying the party and the sweet drink shuri had prepared for you, before you feel like dancing. you hold one of your friend’s hands as you go to dance, letting go of the overbearing stress you carried, letting the music caress the heat of your skin. you feel her eyes watching you, feel them heavily sliding down the length of your moving body and it exhilarates you. you open your eyes and just as you meet her gaze, a body presses itself against you, much like she had earlier, and her gaze is darkening.
the intensity of it shocks you but lulls the bratty side of you forward, calling you to make her move, make her claim you again. the thought excites you enough to bring your hand to guide the strangers to rest on the material covering your ribs, your lips twitching in amusement when you see her eyes drop to sneer at the touch.
that’s it, come to me. the vixen in you is cunning, luring her lover to her with tactics she knows shuri will concur to, tactics she knows will break the regal patience of the queen.
but shuri simply raises a manicured brow, her lips lifting into a smirk as she sweeps her eyes over your frame and she’s leaning forward against the marble countertops before tilting her head at you. you know that look, and so does your body, seeing as it instinctively clenches with a fire so deep it licks at the jagged edges of your ribs, sinking into the space between your legs.
she barely lifts her hand, her fingers moving to call you to her and you’re moving without thinking, like a prey to its predator, and you’re soothed by a false sense of security when she allows you to place your hand in hers so she can gently pull you towards her and whisper directly into your ear, “i don’t know who made you think you run shit, s’thandwa, but i know you need me to fix that for you, right?”
the shiver that wrecks through your body is instant and you’re nodding before you can comprehend, your breath hitching when you feel her pull you through the crowd, you were in for it. the lock of the bathroom door barely clicks before one of shuri’s hands grabs both of your wrists to press against the wood while the other pushes your hips against the surface.
there’s a pause, “i need to hear you to tell me you want this baby, that you want me.” her voice is strained like she’s holding back.
“please, please, shuri, i need it, need you, always.”
the whine barely escapes you before she’s letting out a tortured groan and pressing against you, her hand sliding down your hip, roughly pushing the hem of your skirt up, and pressing over the front of your damp underwear. your hips stutter as she presses against your clit, your lips parting as you moan out, hearing her groan into the curve of your neck, her lips pressing heated kisses along the length of it, “barely touched you and you’re this wet for me, baby? my pretty pussy’s crying for me, isn’t she?”
her voice is pulling you into the state only she can pull you into, where your mind is only occupied with her, and it’s hard to think, to breathe, to exist beyond her. her fingers trace slow circles over your underwear, your hips swirling to match the movements, and she’s laughing at you. lifting her lips to slide over your cheekbone and press against your temple as she increases the pace of her fingers.
“my desperate fucking girl. you want to come in these pretty lace panties?”
your hips buck wildly as you gasp, your head spinning as you whimper out her name, over and over again, a series of pleads falling from your lips. the way she’s talking to you with that lilt in her voice like you were just a girl to be scolded, a girl to be humiliated until you learned, learned what being hers meant. she’s speaking words to you, wanting you to gaze into those eyes while she touches what’s hers.
you feel the wave cresting, your stomach clenching as you practically squeal out her name, your hips gyrating frantically in time with her hand, your hands are clenching, your arms still held above your head, wanting to grab something to ground you, wanting to touch her to ground you. she coos at you, murmuring about her, “pretty sweet thing coming so good for her.”
your heart rate doesn’t get the chance to slow as you feel her hand slip into your now-soaked, underwear, your hips bucking violently as she grazes her slender fingers across your sensitive clit, and your eyes are widening as you lift your gaze to find hers already on you, “had enough, angel? i don’t think you have.” her voice is taunting, her eyes holding a fire that burns your insides.
your mouth drops open, your gaze unable to move from hers as she slides her fingers to your entrance circling around the opening as she groans deep in her throat, “bast, you were made for me, my love, made to take me?” her finger slips in slightly as she curls her tongue around ‘take’ and you’re chasing her fingers, she’s being so mean.
you tense as she finally slips her finger into the warmth of your walls, a satisfying moan slips from your mouth as she begins to gently thrust in and out of you, her fingers dragging against you, just the way she knows you love. she’s smirking against your cheek as you unabashedly moan out repeatedly, thumb coming to circle your clit as you shut your eyes. the tears are gathering on your lashes as you’re whimpering out.
“there’s my pretty baby’s tears.” her voice is dark, menacingly dragging out the words. “couldn’t have my pretty pussy crying by herself tonight, hm.” the words render you dumb before her fingers glide firmly against that rough patch inside you and you’re clenching so hard that it drags her fingers deeper into you, your legs trembling, your body solely held up by shuri’s hold on your wrists. and you still long enough for her to mutter out a ‘that’s it, angel.’ before you’re exploding again.
the tears are clinging to your lashes as you see flashes of colour behind your eyelids, your breath coming out in pants as you stutter your hips to the soothing slow of shuri’s lithe fingers, she’s using the hand holding your wrist to lower your arms to rest around her shoulders, her arms then coming to the back of your thighs to gently lift you on to the sink.
you feel her lift your chin, her lips approaching yours before she pauses, “you’re mine, right. my precious love, hm?” her voice is raspy. you nod eagerly, tightening your arms around her neck, whining for that kiss. she smirks as she leans in, placing her lips against your own softly but with a little desperation, the slide of your lips is a back-and-forth pull of your love, a love song duet, a devotion of walking into what will be.
the panther’s sly hands skim up your still quivering thighs fiddling with the band of your underwear, pausing, before she’s ripping them off. the gasp you release into her mouth is sharp but as you go to pull away, she doesn’t let you, her mouth slipping against yours felt like an addiction. both her hands slip along your inner thigh making their way to your dripping cunt.
her lips separate from yours when the tips of her fingers graze your folds and you thrash so wildly, she has to reach a hand to your hip to still you, a grunt slipping passed her mouth at the action, you were so sensitive, it made her feral. her eyes lift to your shut ones as she glides her fingers over your clit, your head frantically shaking, “you don’t want more, my love?”
her voice wisps through the clouds in your mind, “c-cant…please” you force out pathetically on a whimper, her fingers circling your clenching entrance, “i know, baby, i know.” she’s speaking gently to you, lovingly, “but you’re mine, yes? mine to love, mine to make come as i please? isn’t that right, honey?” and you’re nodding frantically.
“then i want you to get off on my thigh like the desperate girl you are, sweetheart.”
her voice is the only thing you can fathom, and it has you craving for more, inviting her into you and it almost makes shuri preen – you’re so open to her, settling into her embrace as if you trusted her more than yourself, it makes her soaking pussy clench tight around nothing, in a way only you could make her. her thigh presses between your legs and your muscles tremble around the strong muscle, her hand slips around your throat, squeezing gently as she guides your eyes to hers, and she gazes at you so deeply, it makes you squirm.
shuri’s watching you struggle against her thigh, her lips lifting into a condescending smirk that forces you to shut your eyes and let out a lengthy, needy whine before she uses her free hand to grip your waist and harshly slide you against her.
“dumb baby needs me to do everything for her?”
the moans you’re sobbing out sharply slice through the air, and you feel filthy, crying out for her while she drags you against her thigh like a desperate slut. you’re hiccupping on your tears as she continues to coo at you, walking you to your demise and you can feel it, your heartbeat pulsing through your desperate clenching walls.
her head is nodding along with yours, your eyes unable to separate from hers, and she’s groaning along to your cries, asking if you want it enough if you’re desperate enough for her. she leans in to press a tender peck to your lips that you can’t reciprocate, “that’s it, my angel, give me that come.”
then your body is convulsing so violently, shuri has to press the length of her body against you to prevent you from slipping off of the sink she has you sat on, her head sinking to your neck to shower you in praises and remind you how good you were for her, how much she loves you, how pretty you are when you cry for her. your tears are hot on your cheeks as you soak her thigh, and you’re heaving as your eyelashes cling to one another, the mascara smeared along your waterline - you looked ruined.
shuri regards you with a tenderness that sends you spiralling, she reaches her hand to brush along your wet cheeks before following the trail with her warm lips, exhaling her love into your skin, reminding you how much her heart belonged to you too. her lips meet yours in a soft press and she sighs as she pulls you against her body to ground herself.
she could feel her heart clench with the force of her love for you, she was never going to let you go again.
how could i forget you? when you build house for my mind? and you no go, go outside and you no go, go. i miss me and you. but all i have is memories of you. but that just wont do tonight.

SHURI X JAMAICAN READER
Summary: A night out at the club takes a bit of a turn when y/n’s favorite song comes on and she starts drunkenly singing it to shuri , it’s the songs unique lyrics that takes shuri over the edge…
Warnings: tipsy reader, high reader, high shuri, implies smut (I’m too scared I’ll ruin it if I write smut lol)
(A/N: post writing this I am just gonna say hats off to all the writers on this platform because it is so fucking hard to translate an idea into a flowing story and I think this is the first and last time I try to do so 😭)
Soooo I’ve been on tumblr for a while reading and interacting but I never dared to write anything..but THIS scenario played out so nice while I was driving and smoking. This song was playing and it started from there you can listen to it but idk if it’ll actually go with the story so the choice is yours. If this is shit tell me immediately I’ll take it down and stfu forever 😭🫶🏾
I don’t plan on translating the patois in the dialog but if it’s necessary pls lmk and I’ll add it !
…here we go🫣 *inhales*
-
1:00AM at the club was your favorite time because the normal DJ switched out for a Jamaican one. Who so happens to be your favorite cousin.
You and Shuri decided to go out together to get some drinks in a more social environment rather than staying in like you had for the last year. Getting tired of hearing the complaints that “ Y/N put a spell on our Queen” or better yet “The Queen is pussy whipped” This was the perfect place to show face and vibe discreetly.
You made the final lick to seal your third blunt of the night. The bass in the club going hard to ‘The Harder They Fall’ by Koffee.
“Perfect song to spark the blunt to.” Shuri your girlfriend of 3 years chuckled.
The first pull was harsh but the second was sweet. That’s how you earned the name sour patch from your stoner friends.
“Here baby” you passed the blunt over. When your eyes locked so did your knees, it was a good thing you were sitting.
“You know you look really good when you’re high.” You boldly said. Shuri chuckled in reply and took a hit.
“If you think I look good so good sthandwa , dance with me”
She abruptly got up and put the blunt out, which forced you as well since you rested on her chest . As you two made your way towards the dance floor you locked eyes with your cousin.
When you saw that dumbass look on her face from the DJ booth you knew she was about to troll you in some way. The previous song seamlessly began blending into an intro you knew too well.
(start playing song here)
*Flash Back*
“Y/N long time mi nuh see yuh up weh mi spin yuh kno!” Your cousin said over wine at her place.
“It haad fi lef yuh yaad when it hold suh much luv .” You chuckled. Shuri was by no means keeping you from going out. It was more so you kept each other inside.
“Suh it guh when yuh get a gyal wid a ten outta ten ehhhhh!” You couldn’t help but bust out at the song reference she made.
“Gyal yuh nuh easy!” You laughed .
*Flash Back Over*
As soon as the bass dropped in the song you turned your back to Shuri to whine your waist.
Gyal , your pussy good mi gi’ you
10 outta 10
Up inna mi bed mi want you spread out again
“Careful, this same waistline is how you got stuck in the house for a year.” Shuri whispered in your ear, her waist keeping up with yours as she caught everything you threw.
What a body good , like you mek
outta gem
Hot inna your clothes when you
Step out again
“I’m just showing appreciation for the song choice it’s a tribute to you My Queen.” It came out a lot more breathless than you would have liked but truth be told her waistline was now leading and it was making you dizzy.
A just 10 outta 10 outta 10
Outta 10
Open up your book and mek
Mi tek out mi pen
You turned around to sing the chorus directly to her and the more words you said the darker her eyes sets.
“Slow whine gyal, your so fine
Pussy mek mi cum in no time” you sang.
Even under the club lights you could see the desire swimming in her eyes at the vulgar words you sang to her in your native tongue.
Without you even noticing her hand slide up to house your throat . “ nkosazana uyayazi ukuba indenza ntoni?” (Princess, do you have any idea what that does to me ?) Shuri rasped in your ear over the music.
You couldn’t do anything but stare at her like she hung the stars in the sky herself. The same effect that patois had on her, Xhosa had on you.
It was an instant panty soaker.
“masigoduke ndizokwazi ukubuyisa imbeko sithandwa sam” (let’s go home so I can return the tribute my love.) she ghosted over your lips.
Eyes heavy from the blunts , drinks , and Shuri’s goal to have cum untouched by her voice alone . You closed the gap between you two . The kiss was slow and deep but by no means was it romantic.
Her tongue danced with yours aiming to fuck you in the filthiest reaches of your mind. You knew if you didn’t leave now you would absolutely let her take you where you stood and no one would dare to try and stop the Black Panther .
You reluctantly broke the kiss with a gasp “yes.home.now.come” you spoke all at once and out of order.
You heard her laughing behind you as you practically dragged her off the floor.
“So you think I’m a 10 out of 10 ehhh” she teased . You tried to keep a straight face but failed thinking you both knew that you were both the 10’ s that made up the highest score.
-
*nervous chuckle*😅

who are you loyal to? ☆ | shuri x fem!reader
the ring on your finger is temporary, while shuri's claim on you is forever. some silly arrangement won't keep from her, she's just hurt you didn't tell her first.
warnings : cheating, kissing, arranged marriage
word count : 4k+
note : this is actually one of my favorite pieces i've ever written, so i hope you guys enjoy it :) also i just skimmed through it instead of proof reading so sorry if there are errors.
as your servants laced up the corset that lays under your black silky dress you couldn't help but dread the upcoming event. you'd been attending the wakandan tribe gala since you were in diapers. your mother and father ruling over the river tribe helped you get the invite after all these years.
when you were young you loved attending the gala. it was a time for you to feel accepted and welcome among the people of higher class. you could relate to the people of your tribe, but you couldn't help but feel isolated. you were the only daughter of your parents, meaning you faced the hard task of taking over for them once they passed.
attending the balls also didn't hurt because shuri had been in attendance. the princess of wakanda obviously had to be in attendance and you were happy to see her every time. when the two of you were just a few years younger you were very close. however, you mainly had to do most of your communication with her through kimoyo beads only. the only time you did get to see each other were at galas or royal meetings your parents would drag you along for. this meant this was the only time you and shuri got the chance to exercise your teenaged romance. your relationship was essentially long distance, without the distance. perhaps social distance and busy schedule distance would be a better term for it.
sneaking around the palace during the galas gave you both adrenaline. stealing kisses behind pillars and escaping the dora milaje at every corner made you somehow fall more in love with her. sometimes you two would sneak off into her lap, where no one would be due to how busy the ballroom was. she would show you all the things she made with you in mind as you sat on the table, smiling wide. you were in awe of her intelligence, while she was in awe of your beauty.
"this one i call y/n prototype number three." shuri said as she showed off a kimoyo beaded necklace, laced with vibranium diamonds. it made your eyes go wide from its beauty. she knew how much you loved jewelry. she also knew how much you liked it when she named her inventions after you.
"it matches your breathtaking beauty."
"oh shuri, stop it! you're too much of a sap." you said, smiling from ear to ear and laughing together as she hugs you.
at one point shuri had even set griot's voice to your own when she was alone in her lab. she had claimed it helped her focus, but really it was the only way she could get any real sleep.
one day she had forgotten to change the voice setting when her mother walked in. this resulted in many questions that shuri couldn't answer due to how flustered she was.
shuri was your first love, first meaningful relationship, and first sexual partner. you two were together for three years, which were some of the best in your entire life. a lot of the most important events in your life involved her.
now, this would be the first time you've seen her since your private break up. it would be the first time that you've seen her since her brother's passing. in his death he handed her the mantle of the black panther, which meant she spent less and less at home in wakanda.
it would also be the first time that you were to tell the queen, and shuri, about your soon-to-be wife. which would make your relationship with her far more public than shuri's.
an arranged marriage was very common within your tribe. your parents had been arranged and sometimes you wondered if they even truly loved one another. your heart had been with shuri, not someone random.
the breakup was caused because shuri was angry with the world. she wanted to burn it into ashes. she thought that because she had lost her brother that she had lost everyone who cared about her. her mind pushed out the thoughts of you, therefore ultimately leaving you alone to deal with your own grief as well.
it was painful knowing that she was dealing with something like this, self sabotaging herself in the process. you knew she would never be the same shuri, which only made you cry more. she was destroying herself and you could do nothing but watch.
however, almost two years had passed since then. this meant you needed to begin to move on, whether you liked it or not. you avoided seeing shuri in the media, blocking news sites and articles from popping up on your kimoyo beads that might showcase her. you refused to attend any formal events in fear that you may see her there despite her busy schedule. you became somewhat of a recluse, only letting your tribe people see you when you needed to go to the market. this ball was the only thing you couldn't get out of, and you tried ever so desperately to do so. your parents went on and on about how you need to stop avoiding the girl you were to marry. really, they had no clue that you were avoiding the girl you wanted to marry.
"they are here to escort you to the gala, y/n." your personal bodyguard spoke out. she had been a part of your tribe and was almost like an older sister to you. she was the only person who knew about the true nature of you and shuri's relationship. she was the only person who truly knew who your tears were for.
"thank you, i shall head out soon." you say to her, a smile on your face to hide the feelings you truly had. she knew it was a facade, but she admired you all the more for it. you were a strong woman, and an even stronger leader someday. she hoped that shuri would open her eyes again to you someday, but it was becoming less likely with your upcoming marriage.
she simply walks away, after giving you a nod. your face turns back to the vanity you sat at. your makeup looked beautiful and your hair was styled high on top of your head. you looked just as regal as you felt. you wondered if shuri would feel the same if your eyes met hers tonight.
"ah, my sweet daughter has finally decided to join society after all this time." your father says jokingly as you bow before the queen. everyone had to do so whenever they entered the gala. you did so, as the princess stood right beside her.
you refused to make eye contact, placing your gaze at anything but her. yet, out of the corner of your eye you couldn't help but watch her.
she had looked older, more mature. perhaps aged by her grief. she no longer wore her signature braids, instead opting for a curly top and a fade all the way around. her jawline no longer seemed childish and her body had been much more toned than before. she wore a dress of her own, it was long and somewhat boxy. it made her look tall and elegant. you curse bast for making her so much more attractive, therefore making her harder to resist.
shuri had been fighting the urge to look at you as well. it proved hard for her, because although she would not admit her cruelty she knew she messed up with you. while you actively went to of your way to avoid shuri, she kept up with you. she watched you in the market when you traveled through. she kept up with your charity work in america at the centers her brother had created before his passing. she thought she knew everything there was to know about you, not being able to let go after all this time.
"i hear we have an engagement on our hands?" queen ramonda asks, causing you to push out a fake smile. shuri can't help but look in your direction now, with her eyebrows furrowed and eyes wide. this couldn't be true, how did she not know? she prayed to bast that you would correct her mother.
"yes. i am to be married."
"to who?" shuri bursts out, her voice cracking a little as she speaks. the outburst causes you to finally look directly at her. your heart skips a beat, and she can sense it. most of all, she can see it, the pain hidden deep within your face when she looks at you. a pain that she caused, and she knows it too. her nose twitched at the realization.
your parents speak for you, considering you're far too choked up. "to make, she also from the river tribe. we thought it best to find someone from within our tribe for her."
"oh, how wonderful-" the queen begins to say, before being cut off by her daughter.
"this was arranged?" she looks bewildered and upset all at once. her voice had arguably raised an entire level and some people even began to look towards her. "do you people not even care if your daughter loves her?"
your mother scoffs as you stand there, stuck in your own embarrassment and surprise.
"shuri! know your place. do not ask such questions!" the queen says, quickly correcting her daughter's unruliness.
"i am sorry mother." she mumbles out, never once taking her eyes off of you.
"do not apologize to me. apologize to y/n and her parents."
in your mind there was nothing to apologize for. shuri had spoken out against something that both you and her knew was wrong. she knew how you felt about arranged marriages. you often expressed your fear to her that your parents would set you up in a loveless marriage someday. she would reassure you, saying that would never happen seeing as how she wouldn't allow it. besides, there would be no worry as long as you two were together. however, now you aren't together. now you were engaged and it was not to her.
"i am sorry elders." she speaks, and then looks at you. "i am sorry y/n."
it felt like her saying sorry for so much more than this outburst.
"apology accepted." your father states, not wanting to dwell on the matter more than you already had. your mother has an angry look on her face, still not taking the apology sincere.
"if you will excuse me, queen mother, i must be seeing my fiancée."
she simply nods her head, "i hope to speak with you about this exciting news later."
"of course." you say before walking off into the crowd of people.
"please excuse me as well." shuri says shortly after you walk off. she only heads off into your direction once her mother sways her away with a hand motion.
"y/n!" your fiancée calls over to you from the bar. her hand is in the air, showing her magnificent diamond on her ring finger. it was the most expensive your parents could get.
"makeya, my love. how are you tonight?" you ask her as you sit next to her in one of the empty chairs. it didn't feel right calling her that nickname, considering you did not truly love her. you loved her as a person. she was kind, beautiful, and ever so considerate of your feelings. had it been another universe you would've loved to be her person. however, you weren't and it felt so wrong to string her along. it wasn't like she had much choice in this situation either, although she seemed quite happy about it.
"i've never been able to attend one of these balls before. i always watched the lavish women enter from afar. i never imagined i'd get the chance to attend!"
for you, this was just a regular day out of the year.
"i'm glad i've been able to give you this experience." the bother in your voice is obvious. you don't even bother to hide it, knowing that you wouldn't be able to.
"is something the matter?"
"not particularly."
"ah, i know what is."
you raise your head, "you do?"
she laughs, "yes, you are probably just too used to these sorts of settings. they are not fun for you anymore."
"oh," you say, a little disappointed she hadn't guessed correctly and called of the engagement right then and there. "sure, that's it."
"y/n?" a familiar voice calls out to you. you would've liked to say you turned slowly to face her, when really it was the exact opposite. it was as if you were desperate for her to call out to you and you jolted up. your posture changed and your eyes widened as you looked at her. your lips went dry despite the gloss and air was caught in your throat. for some reason it felt like you were caught cheating.
"princess shuri?" makeya can't help but ask, the fingerling in her voice is hard to contain.
shuri laughs, and it sends shivers down your spine. the princess watches as the hairs on your arms stand. she was eye-fucking you, and you knew it. yet, it wasn't like you were exactly begging her to stop.
"we should go elsewhere makeya."
"and leave so soon?" shuri questions, making you scowl at her.
"not leaving entirely, just leaving the area."
"oh, y/n. don't be like that when i'm trying to know your future wife."
makeya giggles, not intuitive enough to see what's going on. how she is ignoring the tension between you and shuri is unbeknownst.
"i would love for you to get to know me! i know that you and y/n were close friends once, but she would never give any exact details!"
"oh?" shuri looks from makeya and back to you, "i have many details about y/n. such as one about the star tattoo on her lower hip. you see-"
"enough." you hiss out to the panther, grabbing her arm. "makeya, please excuse us."
you don't bother looking back to see your fiancée as you began dragging shuri out of the ballroom. some eyes fall onto the both of you as you push past the crowd. shuri had a wide smile on her face, knowing she got under your skin. your anger only grew when you realized this was her intention all along.
you don't even realize you feet are taking you to the lab until you reach the smart doors. perhaps it was muscle memory that this is where you decided to take her. if you were being honest, it only made you more angry.
"griot, open." you speak to the ai, assuming that shuri never deleted your voice activations. just as you thought, the doors opened without a second thought.
with your strength you pull her body in front of yours once you're alone in the room.
"what the hell are you doing?"
she scoffs, "that's a question i should be asking you. since when do you feel the need to not tell me you're getting married?"
"it's none of your concern who i am with. you are the the one shut me out! she let me in after you broke my heart."
"i'm assuming pretty easily too." shuri rolls her eyes.
you don't know what exactly you've done until you hear the sound of skin connecting, until you see shuri touching the red mark on her cheek, until you see how wide her eyes are. you don't even notice the tears in your eyes until you feel one rolling down your face. no apology for slapping her comes to your mouth. you can't find it within yourself to apologize. you were hurt by her. hell, you were still hurting because of her. she had lost her brother and you were sympathetic to that. why did she want to lose you as well? that part confused you deeply.
"how dare you?" you ask, your voice breaking. "how dare you start acting like you give a damn about me now? would you have even cared if i wasn't engaged?"
shuri stays silent, fingers still touching her own cheek.
"that's what i thought. you are jealous that i'm happy. you're upset i didn't stick around to put up with your bullshit."
"it is not bullshit. i was grieving."
"we were all grieving shuri, so i understand that. but are you really going to use that as your excuse for pushing me out and then never letting me back in? if so, it's a cheap fucking cop out."
"it was never my intention to fully push you out. i thought i was doing you a favor!"
now it was your turn to laugh, "a favor? you thought that me losing the love of my life would a favor?"
"love of your life?"
you grind your teeth, not wanting to answer that question. her eyes are searching for it, that much you can tell as she looks right through you. your lip trembles as you fight back more tears. this was not the conversation you wanted to have tonight.
"i got scared." shuri begins to say after realizing you weren't going to answer. "i got scared that i would lose you completely, like t'challa. i know you have certain rolls to uphold within the river tribe. i didn't know if i could be that woman for you anymore, living in constant fear that you'd be the one i'd lose next. you deserved to be happy, so i thought that was the only way. i didn't know that it would do the opposite of making you happy."
"you're selfish for not asking me about how i felt. all i ever did was ask how you were doing."
"i won't say that i'm not selfish. i am. i'm being selfish even now about wanting you all to myself. i pushed a lot of people out when my brother died, including my mother. i made amends with her but i never knew how to go about reconciliation with you. now it's too late. you have no idea how many nights i've laid awake sleepless wondering about you."
"then give me an idea." you say, staring deep into her eyes.
"when i realized just how much pushing i'd really done i knew i could never get you back. i had countless nightmares replaying our breakup in my mind. i thought that putting myself into my work would take my mind off of you but it only made it worse. my designs went back to being centered about you. my coworkers knew i was unable to focus on my work. i grew irritated with everything and everyone. i kept tabs on you, but obviously not well enough."
it hurt your heart to know this was how shuri was feeling. however, you knew deep down that you couldn't settle for this. would you have ever gotten this apology from her had you not been engaged?
"i'm telling you this now because i don't want you think i don't love you. i wasn't sure if i could find the courage to admit my mistakes until now." she says, as if she's heard your thoughts. your eyes can't help but go wide. this was the push that shuri desperately needed.
"what did you expect to get out of this?"
"do you love her?" she interjects, not even bothering to answer your question.
"fuck you, shuri."
"fine, then let me ask you this." she says, stepping close to you.
you just keep looking right at her, challenging her with your stance. the feeling of her breathing on your skin makes you shiver.
"who are you loyal to?" shuri asks, gazing into your eyes. she's searching for an answer that she knows she won't get.
"my country, my family, and my people. as every great leader is. you should know this better than anyone." you say back, glaring into her deep brown eyes. you knew she was testing you.
"ah, but not your soon to be wife."
"i am loyal to her especially."
shuri chuckles, "but here you are with me. you're a liar."
you cock your head, smiling at her, "she fucks good." you knew this was a lie. makeya had never even touched your boob without a bra over it.
"oh please," shuri rolls her eyes, "i saw the look on her face when i mentioned your tattoo. she didn't even know it existed."
you grind your teeth together. of course your fiancée didn't know you had that tattoo. you two hadn't actually gotten that intimate yet, knowing you weren't ready for something like that after shuri. even more ironic, it was a tattoo that shuri had given you herself after a drunken night. it was a panther paw. corny, you know. however, it signified that shuri laid her claim on you. which was highly efficient considering every time you stared at yourself in the mirror you would envision her behind you.
"yeah, nothing to say now." shuri says, now even closer to your body. your noses are almost touching and your chests can't help but smush up against each other. her hand makes its way to your face, caressing it softly. "that's cause you're loyal to your princess. not whoever that woman is. i know you're angry and i can't express how sorry i am. however, i will not let you marry her. i will go out there right now and tell them all that i'm marrying you if that is what it takes."
"do it then." you say, offering her a challenge that you don't know she'd actually take. you weren't thinking about how much it may hurt your supposed lover. you weren't thinking about how much it would hurt your mother and father. you knew how hurt you were by shuri, but she was the kind of drug that was the hardest to quit.
you can feel her free hand slipping off the engagement ring you sported on your finger. her eyes never break away from yours as she tries to read the emotion spreading across your face. for some reason, you can't make her stop from throwing your ring across the lab.
then she kisses you. it was nothing like you've ever experienced before. it was better than any first kiss you had with her. it was as if all this wanting built up to a point of no return as her hands found your hips. as she lifted you up onto the table she wasn't thinking about makeya. she was thinking about how you were hers and always would be. her panther powers kicked in as she gripped your thighs, trialing her kisses all the way down your neck.
she smiled in between kisses and sucking as she listened to the moans that escaped your mouth. they sounded like a symphony as they came one after the other. this was what you ached and dreamed for, and damn did it feel good.
"who are you loyal to?" shuri asks again, sounding breathless.
"you.." you moan out, trying to maintain your composure.
"good." shuri states, and then pulls away from you.
"where are you going?" you can't help but ask as you watch her walk towards the exit of the door.
"to tell them you're getting married."
"they already know that shuri!" you exclaim as you fix the straps on your dress and fix your hair she had begun to mess up.
"oh i know. but i am going to tell them you're marrying me instead."
shuri had officially lost it. you attempted to catch up with her as she moved through the halls, but her panther powers made her walk so much faster than you when she was trying. you pleaded with her to not do this, knowing the outcome. the elders would never allow it and you would crush makeya in the same sitting.
yet, you couldn't help but smile at the idea. shuri finally showing the effort you've always wanted from her. your heart ached for this and your dreams were becoming a reality in ways you could never imagine.
shuri was going to marry you, whether the elders approved or not.

warnings: fluff, little angst, alcohol, weed, cheating?
a/n: lemme know if y’all want a part two!!
wct: 3.2k
chapter 1
as you walked inside, the strong aroma of weed not a unfamiliar smell in her home, the dark purple ambiance of shuri’s luxury apartment glared off of your skin, contrasting with your melanin. as you got closer to her kitchen, you could hear the soft sound of ekykah badu playing low in the background. you took a seat at her island, resting your head in your hands.
shuri knew the routine by now, making her way to her wine cabinet, grabbing the most expensive one and two wine glasses. after pouring herself a decent amount, she took yours and started with the same quantity. you looked up from the counter and then up at her.
she smirked and continued to pour, “that bad, huh?” she teased, and you couldn’t even blame her. this has happened a couple times before, not that shuri minded taking care of you, she just. . . wished it was for a different reason.
you sighed and began to chug down the red drink, attempting to drown your frustration in alcohol, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. this was one of those times it didn’t.
you placed the glass down with a clink, wiping your lip with your thumb before you finally spoke, “m’ sorry..” you let out breathlessly. the wakandan only chuckled and shook her head.
“it’s fine, entle. here, c’mon” she began walking to her living room, you trailing behind her like a small puppy.
“where’s your friend..” you asked as you made yourself at home on her couch, watching shuri’s slouched figure attentively as she lighted her pre-rolled blunt, sparking it, once, twice—
“riri? gone, she went to a convention for one of her projects. so it’s just me here for right now” you nodded, you had always wondered if shuri or riri ever engaged in anything while being more than friends. she brought the joint to her lips, inhaling the intoxicating air and holding it in. “you don’t have to talk about what happened if you don’t want to. you should know by now that i’m not going to force you” she broke the short silence, finally exhaling and passing the joint your way.
you have a small smile, taking the drug from her fingers and copying her same action. “it’s not that.. it’s just.. i don’t know. i feel like i’m overreacting about the whole situation.”
shuri didn’t speak, letting you get all your thoughts out into the air. you had this habit of keeping of all your thoughts in when in came to quinton, because to you, it never felt like he was ever really listening. shuri didn’t like that. so she promised to be your outlet, the one who could always talk to, and ever since then you’ve taken advantage of that opportunity to actually be heard for once. after a while of you and shuri starting with the small stuff, you never even tried to go to anyone else, not that you wanted to. shuri was perfect.
she was patient with you, attentive, caring, almost like she wanted to hear about your problems. each time you and shuri had one of your ‘talking sessions’ shuri felt her anger grow more and more at your sad excuse of a boyfriend. how could he treat someone so sweet and kind so horribly?
she couldn’t put all the fault on him though, well she could but— you were kind of responsible too. you were smart enough to see all the signs and red flags he was waving blatantly in your face. but damn your full and generous heart, you couldn’t help but still be loyal to him, no matter how much you fussed.
shuri hated that. you were too kind for your own good. he had no right to the heart that should’ve been hers. she could treat you so much better and she knows it. she just wish you did.
“shuri!”
the queen blinked, coming out of her thoughts. she hadn’t realized she had zoned out.
“shit.. i’m sorry y/n! i zoned out..” she apologized, rubbing at her temples. you gave her a sincere look and gently took the last bit of the dead blunt from her inked fingers. “what’s wrong, princess?”
normally, shuri would always correct people who incorrectly used her title, but hearing the name come from your lips. . she let it slide.
she turned to look at you, your big brown eyes staring back at her. she sighed and shook her head. bast what the hell was she doing?
“this isn’t supposed to be about me y/-“
“i know,” you cut her off, “but i want it to be. you’re always looking after me, i just. . wanna return the favor.”
the royal took her eyes off you and stared up at the ceiling. how was she supposed to tell her best friend that she had had a crush on her for over 3 years. how was she going to tell you that she had bottled her feelings up for so long because she didn’t want to lose you, so she let you slip from her fingers and into the hands of someone who doesn’t even know how to take care of you properly.
you rested your cheek on your arm that sat at the top of the sofa letting your eyes linger on her chiseled face for a little longer than you should’ve, “you look like you have a secret, something you wanna say but you just can’t for some reason” you smile, sort of in a joke, but shuri didn’t know you were playing around.
“shuri, you can tell me, you know you can tell me anything..”
she looked back at you, only loved filled in those deep dark eyes. she returned your declaration with a small smile, eye cutting down to the floor. you could see her smile fade and her head turned the other way.
“ri?” you asked softly
you watched her curly lashes come together as she blinked, rather slowly.
“i can’t..” she whispered
“you can’t what?”
“it won’t be the same.. i can’t lose you..”
“shuri, whats going on?”
“i can’t y/n!” she yells, the sudden change knocking you back a bit. she gets up from the couch and begins to pace.
“i can’t! i can’t tell you how long i’ve watched you be in a relationship with him, how long i’ve watched you be treated like shit, knowing i could treat you better! i can’t tell you how long i’ve been in love with you!” your jaw fell slack at her words. she had loved you? she’s in love with you?
your mouth opened and shut, trying so hard to let something—anything come out.
“shuri..” you choked
“i know, i know! i’m wrong for feeling this way but i can’t help it. i’m tired of being the one you always come to when that fuck says or does something hurtful to you,” she rubs her hands down her face. “i’m tired of being that friend y/n! i’m tired of being your friend. i don’t want to be your friend..”
“i wanted to be more than that. i still do. . but i know you don’t like me that way. that’s why i kept quiet, i forced myself to not say shit to you because i didn’t want to ruin our friendship.”
you only stared at her, tears threatening to swell in your eyes.
“i just. . i couldn’t hold it in any longer, i’m sorry.”
your silence scared her. why the hell did she tell you that?! now you’re never going to want to see her again! she was already accepting defeat.
“i don’t know. . what to say” your voice cracked from the tears. you couldn’t believed she was containing this in for so long. you can’t say that you never felt something for the queen. but to you, she never showed any real interest in you in that sort of way.
“you don’t have to,” shuri replies, quickly wiping the single tear that fell down her cheek, “your face clothed and towel are in the bathroom, i’ll be in the room.” was the last thing she said before she walked out of the living room and into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her.
instead.
there was so much you wanted to say to shuri, so much to let off your chest. how much you wanted to tell her how sorry you were for putting her through what you did, how long you’ve waited for her to say those words. how. . you loved her too.
you had feelings for shuri in the beginning, but it never seemed like she reciprocated them, you both went that entire time without ever putting out your feelings because of freight. maybe you should’ve said something. . maybe this all would’ve been different.
even though you had begun a relationship with quinton, you still wanted to have shuri around, that was still your best friend, no matter how much you loved her. but you never realized how much it hurt her to see you and him together. maybe it were those fake smiles she’d pull when you would have to cancel on your plans because he ‘needed you’, or how riri would tell you that shuri had decided not to go to a party you begged her to go to. when you would ask her why she wasn’t going she would tell you ‘oh, i wasn’t feeling well!’ or ‘had an errand to run’ or ‘just felt like staying home.’ but the real reason was because she knew he was going and she couldn’t bare to see you with him. she didn’t have the heart to tell you that though.
jesus, were you that oblivious?
you couldn’t deny that you hadn’t had a thought or two about you and shuri being together during your relationship with quinton. imagining how nice her arms would feel around you, having the chance to feel the warmth of her kisses, being able to play with her soft hair, getting to hear her laugh over and over, being the reason that she smiled, god that smile. .
you walked into shuri’s bedroom nice and fresh from the bathroom, only to find that she wasn’t there. you wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t want to talk to you. you stuffed your clothes in a split section of your bag then walked over to the bed, flopping onto the mattress. you let out a long sigh before the feeling of being alone irked you. you sat up and began to look for shuri, though that search didn’t last long.
you heard movement from her balcony and turned to that direction, seeing her sitting in a chair, staring into down at city. you walked to the doorway, trying your best to be quiet.
“i can hear you, y’know” she said, not bothering to look behind her. you gave up and made your way to sit beside her.
“are you okay?”
“are you okay?” you retorted, adding emphasis on ‘you’. you looked over at her just in time to see a smirk appear and disappear on her face. “it doesn’t matter”
“yes it does, shuri, don’t say that.”
she glanced at you, then back at the city, the building lighting reflecting off her perfect skin, highlighting her features, something you had always appreciated before. the tattoo the trailed down her neck, her diamond cut jawline, her high cheekbones. she had let her curls grow out a little, almost into a small fro since the last time you saw her.
you’ve always thought shuri was beautiful, but now, knowing how she feels about you, your admiration intensified.
“i do too.” you broke the silence
“do what?”
“. . love you”
shuri looked at you skeptically, “alright, y/n” she scoffed, turning her head away from you again.
“i’m being serious, shuri,” you grab her chin, forcing her to face you, “i. love. you.”
her eyes saddened as she stared at you, “then why didn’t you say anything. .” her voice cracked as she spoke
“you were the most honest, sweetest, reliable friend i ever had. i didn’t want to lose you either.” you finally let go of her face, hoping she’d still look at you. when you saw that you had her full undivided attention, you continued. “i love you shuri, and i’ve always wondered what it would be like to spend my life with you. i just didn’t know you felt the same.”
“i wanted you to be happy.”
“but i’m happier with you. .” you placed your hand on her cheek caressed the skin with your thumb.
“baby if you had told me all of this sooner, i would’ve chose you over q,” you could the slightest glint in her eyes and she knew you were telling the truth.
“you’ve always been there for me, and i’ve taken advantage of you all these years, at least let me make it up for this. .”
you both slowly drew closer to each other, lips just almost brushing each other before shuri pulled back.
“what about quinton?”
“after what he’s put me through, i couldn’t give two shits about how he feels.” you rested your hand on the back of shuri’s neck, and pushed her forward to close the gap.
you both moaned, the action of being deprived of this feel for so long had so many emotions coming out that neither of you could suppress.
shuri had always imagined how your lips would feel, soft and innocent, warm and honey-filled. it felt so refreshing.
you began to wrap your arms around her neck and she moved you to straddle her lap, holding you by your hips.
“i’m sorry for making you wait this long, princess, lemme’ make it up to you, please” you begged through her kisses, letting your hand slide under her tank top and your fresh set scratch along her abs.
instead.
“baby, that tickles!” your giggles erupted throughout the bathroom as shuri kissed along your neck.
after your little 'session', shuri decided it was best for you both to take a bath, which you didn't disagree on. so now here you both were soaking in the corner tub of her bathroom, bubbles filling in the leftover space you and her haven't taken up.
"mm mm," she replied as she continued her kisses behind your ear, occasionally nibbling on the lobe. "i've waited too long to have you in my arms entle, at least let me kiss you"
"yeah, i do owe you that, don't i?" she smiled against your skin as you place your hand on the side of her face.
after you two got out and dried yourselves, shuri led you to the bed, insisting that she puts your lotion on you after you attempted to do it yourself.
you were now laid on your back while shuri lathered her hands in your lotion. she began at your legs. she made her way up from your ankles to your calves to your thick thighs. you couldn't help but blush at the act.
she then moved her way up to your soft stomach. she would occasionally leave small kisses against you as she did so. she smiled at the giggle that came from your lips, watching your pretty teeth make their appearance.
“you’re beautiful y/n.” she stated simply. a dark hue formed against your skin and she planted a kiss on your nose.
once she was done she helped you put on your pajamas and you were both now laying in the bed, cuddling against each other as close as you could.
as you laid your head against her chest, listened to the faint sound of her heartbeat all you could think was: this was all you wanted; somebody to love you, take care of you, hold you. shuri gave you that, she always has, you just hadn’t realized it because you were so busy caught up in your own junk. and that made you feel guilty.
you sighed and nuzzled your face deeper in her, “i wish i would’ve told you how i felt sooner. that way we both wouldn’t have felt so miserable all these years.”
“me too..”
“all this time i’ve been wasting these years with him, when i could’ve been with you.”
shuri sat both of you up, where you were straddling her lap while she laid back against the headboard. "i know, my love, i've hated it too. but now i finally have you, and i promise i'm never going to let you go. i'm going to do all the things that he never did."
her declaration brought tears to your eyes. you smiled pecked her on the lips three times, holding her face in your hands. once you both pulled away you nuzzled your face in the crook of her neck and she wrapped her arms around you.
"i meant it when i said 'i love you' y/n" you heard her say before she kissed the top of your head.
". . i love you too shuri." she said.
instead.
after packing your things back and kissing shuri goodbye you drove back to yours and quinton's apartment. as soon as you walked through the door, you were bombarded with questions.
"baby? where you been? never mind—look i'm sorry, i just—" he stumbled on his words
"it's fine." your words took him aback. it was never that easy for you to forgive him. normally it took a lot of pleading and convincing.
"uh.. really?"
"yeah, i'm cool. and you were right, i shouldn't have overreacted."
quinton watched you in confusion as you walked past him and into your bedroom, beginning to change into something more comfortable.
"so. . you sure you're not mad?" he asks again, your sudden nice behavior scaring him.
"yeah? i'm fine, swear." you tell him once again. after hearing nothing coming from him after that you turned around, seeing he was still staring at you, "what?"
"nothin', i'm just. . surprised is all."
"why's that?"
"well i mean normally you'd stay mad at me for at least a week.." he started
"i know, and that was wrong of me."
he didn't say anything and turned around to go into the living room, leaving you in the bedroom. once you heard him turn the tv on, knowing he was distracted, you reached for your phone to call shuri.
as you tried your best to have your conversation quietly, quinton tried his best to listen to you from the other side of the door. the only words he could make out were 'date', 'baby', and 'i love you'.
who the hell were you talking to?
"okay, bye" he heard you giggle from the other side and quickly crept his way back to the couch.
he smiled at you nonchalantly, as if he wasn't just trying to be a fly on the wall—door.
you plopped down on the couch next to him, "whatchu' watching?" you asked, laying your head on his shoulder.
". . just the saint and falcons game.. i know you don't watch football so you dont—"
"no, it's fine!" you smiled.
"uh—ight.."
what happened while to you while you were gone?

Anything But Love Part 2
AN: Hello my loves! First, I’m gonna apologize for disrespecting the sanctity of democracy, I hope you all can forgive me maybe. Love for Duties Sake Part 5 is still 150% coming, I’m just trying to be a good person, and A. Not make it a book. And B. Actually give them some peace for once in their lives (spoiler alert it’s not going well) SO yeah here's this gem of a story while I work on that, Shuri is once again a brat but maybe just maybe she doesn't actually mean to be a brat? Idk crazy idea. Y’all asked for Y/N to have a little bit of bite to her, I hope I did that lol. Blame two of your favorites on here for this coming out this morning instead of last night-
As always this is dedicated to the lovely @pinkwright, I simply exist to write fake dating for them.
Summary: Being the head of PR for the Udaku family came with its challenges. But staying on top of public perception and answering to elders paled in comparison to your most formidable challenge, dealing with the princess.
Pairing: Shuri x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Cussing, like BREIF mentions of sexual elements. that’s it I think.
Word count: 4,658
Masterlist. Taglist. Part 1.
Suggested listening: Bitches Broken Hearts - Billie Ellish
“You can pretend you don't miss me (me) You can pretend you don't care All you wanna do is kiss me (me) Oh, what a shame I'm not there.”
“And again! One, two, three, four dip! One, two, three, four, turn!”
The feeling of Shuri’s foot coming down on yours had you pulling your hand from hers, a loud “Ow!” spewing from your lips.
“I wouldn’t have stepped on your foot if you had it in the right place.” Shuri looked down at you smugly as you rubbed your foot.
“Well maybe if you hadn’t skipped the first step, I wouldn’t be confused as to where we were at.” You glared up at her, wanting nothing more than to shoot up from your position on the floor and wipe that smug look off her face.
“Are you two really not over your issues, seriously? Mama gave you both a week, I thought you would have settled this by now.” T’Challa’s voice, while slightly annoying at this exact moment, was still right.
Queen Ramonda had given both you and Shuri a week to come to some sort of acceptance of the deal you both agreed to. Banning Shuri from entering her lab and you from your office, she hoped the time away from work would give you both some clarity about the situation, leading to you putting your childish bickering to the side and finally working together again.
While this all sounded good on paper, the time away from your safe spaces seemed to leave the two of you more irritable than before. Shuri’s attitude is on full display and your patience running dangerously low. Luckily, once she noticed this the Queen called in the one favor she had left, hoping maybe she could talk sense into the two of you before it was too late. But until she showed up under the Queen’s strict orders T’Challa was to teach you and Shuri the waltz.
“The only issue I have is that she cannot follow directions! I am supposed to be leading her in this dance yet every move she makes is contradictory to the one I have made. I step left, and she goes right. I take two steps forward, and she takes two backward. How am I to lead someone as stubborn as Y/N?” Shuri folded her arms over her chest, no longer giving you the satisfaction of looking in your direction once she finished her array of insults. Classy.
You rose from where you had been sitting checking your foot. Where Shuri may have beaten you in height, you had her in pure intimidation. Shuri was all bark and no bite and the minute you really mouthed off back to her, she faltered. “Maybe if I had a good leader, someone who I trust to lead, maybe then I’d have no problem following them. But when she can’t even remember the order of simple steps to a waltz, how am I supposed to want to follow her mkhuluwe? (brother)”
T’Challa tried to answer and de-escalate the situation but his sister's fiery attitude stopped him.
“I find your continual suggesting that I am an unfit leader to be disrespectful Y/N.” Shuri took a step closer to you, looking down at you through the curls that had fallen into her face. “Some would even say what you’re suggesting is treason. Are you committing treason against the Princess?” The tone in her voice was cocky, like a cat playing with her food. What you said was not treason, you knew it, she knew it, T’Challa knew it, and everyone else in the room knew it. But still, she chose to pull rank on you, a subtle reminder that you two were not acting off of an even playing field. Another low blow.
“You know I almost wish what I said was treason worthy Shuri, I’d gladly take whatever punishment that brings over having to continue this charade with you.” You chuckled softly. “Fifty years of solitary confinement, I think I’ll take my chances.”
The young Princess’s fists balled and the next smart remark was just about to leave her lips when another voice cut in. One that wasn’t yours, hers, or T’Challa’s.
“Bast! You both still fight like children!” You and Shuri both whipped around to see Nakia leaning up against the ballroom wall behind you. The sight of her had your feet moving faster than your brain could process, leading you right into Nakia’s arms. She let out a groan when your body connected with hers, squeezing you tightly. “Well hello to you too, usisi omncinci (little sister).”
“I didn’t know you’d be here so early.” You still hadn’t removed yourself from Nakia’s body as you spoke.
“Well, clearly she is,” Shuri’s slick remark rang out before Nakia could speak. “Now move, you’re not the only one who has missed her.”
With reluctance, you peeled your body off of Nakia’s to allow Shuri to hug her. As you watched the two embrace you were brought back to your childhood, Nakia’s family being the other one that you lived with when you weren't in the palace. She had taught you everything you knew about being an adult and your eagerness at her return was no different now than it was when you were younger.
When Shuri finally finished she stepped back next to you, leaving T’Challa as the only one who hadn’t greeted Nakia yet.
“Hi.” He said sheepishly as he stepped up into his girlfriend's space. Nakia smiled fondly at him, holding her hands out for T’Challa to take.
“Hi.”
“You did not tell me you were coming back.” T’Challa’s hands rubbed idly at Nakia’s knuckles, memorizing the feeling of her skin under his. These moments between the two of them were rare, Nakia busy with her war dog duties and T’Challa with his kingly responsibilities.
“Mm, I wasn’t supposed to be back this early but, Queen Mother called.” Nakia took her hand and cupped T’Challa’s cheek, rubbing gently on his soft skin before placing a sweet kiss on his lips. “And, I missed you mtuwam (my person).”
The sight of the two lovers made you smile and that same smile stayed on your face as you backed away to give them some privacy. Of course however when in the presence of the Princess such a smile can only last for so long. The sight of her staring at you in disgust had you rolling your eyes at her. “What is your problem? Is your heart so cold that you can’t appreciate a couple in love?”
Shuri let out a dry laugh. “No, I adore my brother and Nakia, she makes him significantly less lame. It is your reaction that I don’t believe.”
“What? I am a lover of love. A certified lover girl like Drake said. Especially true love like that.”
“Mhm if that’s what you need to tell yourself to sleep at night, but that’s not what I have heard.” Shuri dismissed herself from the ballroom, seeing no need to continue the dance lesson now that T’Challa was occupied.
You followed hot on her trail, what the hell had she “heard” about you that could make her of the opinion that you weren't a lover of love. It was blasphemy honestly, defamation of character.
“Shuri!” You grabbed her arm, forcing her to stop in her tracks. She tried to pull out of your grasp, expecting to overpower you easily. What she didn’t account for though was your newfound muscle from training with Ayo, rendering her attempts unsuccessful.
“Let me go.” She still hadn’t turned to face you, to you this seemed like disrespect, another time Shuri couldn’t even give you the decency to look at you. But internally, Shuri’s heart was beating a mile a minute. She hadn’t even realized how much she missed the feeling of you touching her skin. Holding hands to dance was one thing but the way you held tightly onto her now felt like a security blanket, holding her down to earth.
“What are you talking about? What did you hear?”
Shuri tried to pull her arm again to no avail, taking a deep breath, she turned and faced you. “When I tell you, you’ll remove your grabby hands from my wrist, yes?”
You roll your eyes at her use of the word grabby, this was a tactic you two would use often as kids and she never had a problem with it then. “Yes, if you tell me what you’re talking about, I’ll let you go.”
The Princess looked you up and down as she debated how to spill this information. “All I’m saying is I find it hard to believe that you are a lover girl when you so clearly have shown that you’re the opposite.”
That got you to loosen your hold on Shuri’s wrist just enough for her to pull away, her heart finally steadying. But to your surprise, she didn’t leave, rather staying and standing in front of you almost waiting for your questions.
“Explain what you’re talking about right now!” You demanded, your voice cracking slightly under your urgency.
“Adah.” That name was all Shuri gave you as you two stood staring at each other. “Oh don’t play dumb now, you two have been doing this thing since we were teenagers.”
You gritted your teeth, for a second time today, an Udaku child was right about something. Adah was a year younger than you and Shuri, her grandparents sat on the council so she was frequently in the palace growing up. Shuri never cared too much for Adah, saying that she was too whiny and took up too much of your time. This dislike only increased when you and Adah started casually dating as teenagers.
While you put the emphasis on casualness, Adah could never do the same; always trying to cling to your side and attach herself to your and Shuri’s plans. This only led to the Princess feeling more confident in her ability to voice her disdain for the young girl, consistently pointing out her shortcomings. When you finally did end things with Adah, she still seemed to pine after you, even going as far as to join the Dora Milaje to maintain proximity.
“Adah is just a friend Shuri, the same as she was back then.” This earned you a laugh from the Princess.
“Oh I’m sure she’s just a friend to you, but she doesn't see you the same way and she makes it abundantly clear.” Shuri looked you up and down. “And you don’t seem to have a problem with that, do you?”
You chose to ignore the second part of Shuri’s statement, instead attacking the first part. “Why does it matter who I’m friends with Shuri?”
She scoffed at you and attempted to walk away, done with this conversation. But you had grown tired of things always ending on her word, by her command. So you stepped in front of her, blocking her path with your body. When she stepped in another direction you followed suit, leaving her nowhere to go. “Why does it matter who I’m friends with?”
“Get out of my way.”
“Answer my question.”
The Princess was left with a decision, attempt to worm her way around you, success rate: twenty-five percent, or answer your question. Reluctantly she chose the ladder.
“I do not care who you’re friends with Y/N. Truly, I don’t.” She used the closeness of your bodies that you had created to her advantage, leaning over you. “But Adah, she’s not just a friend, is she? Because I remember what it was like to be your friend and I don’t recall it involving sneaking out of your bedroom at three AM every other night.”
Fuck.
Your eyes widened at her words and your breath caught in your chest. How did she know about that? Those were isolated incidents. The few times when you had permitted Adah into your bedroom late at night it was just long enough to make you feel something again, before swiftly kicking her out.
“Oh don’t get quiet on me now Y/N, where's all that energy you just had?” Shuri teased you, cocking her head to the side with a chuckle.
Two options played out in your head at that moment. The first was to stick to what you knew worked with Shuri, logic, and reason. Walk away from the conversation and wait until you were both cooler-headed. The second option was to really give it to Shuri, and remind her why your attitude was just as feared as hers, with the hopes that she’d step off afterward. Two shit options but beggars can’t be choosers.
“You know what Shuri, first off fuck you. We’re not friends, right? So, who I decide to spend my time with is none of your business.” Your words had Shuri straightening up, no longer towering over you.
“Second, fuck you again. You ended this, you didn’t wanna be my friend anymore, so yeah maybe I decided to be friends with Adah again. But guess who no longer gets an opinion on it? You.” You had effectively backed the Princess into a wall, her having nowhere to go but to press her back up against it and wait for you to finish.
“Third and finally fuck you. Fuck your bullshit ass entitled attitude that pushes everyone away that tries to help you. Fuck your inability to not be an asshole for once in your life. Fuck you for not even being able to be a decent non-friend to me Shuri. I mean shit, we didn’t have to be best friends but you don’t have to be such a dick.”
By the time you finished speaking, you realized you had said way more than you’d originally intended to. Letting some of the anger that you’d held onto from your adolescence spew out on the princess now. You two stared at each other for a moment, not sure what to say after your honest words.
Shuri tried to speak but you stopped her with a raise of your hand. There was nothing left to say here. Backing away from the Princess you ignored her calls and made your way away from her as quickly as you could.
Once you were clear out of sight Shuri sunk down to the floor, burying her head in her knees. How did she keep doing this? Insulting and pushing you away when all she wanted to do was recreate the relationship you guys used to have. But how could she when clearly she had hurt you so badly?
Two shadows appeared over Shuri and she looked up to see Nakia and T’Challa, locked arm and arm, staring down at her. The last thing she wanted right now was some lecture from her brother. “What do you want?”
“We heard everything.” T’Challa rocked on his heels slightly, his nervousness apparent. He wasn’t sure how to go about a situation like this. Being king, that was easy. But being an ubhuti omdalana? (older brother) This was much harder.
“Okay…” Shuri buried her head back into her knees, her braids shielding her face from view.
The King looked to Nakia, hoping his girlfriend might have something to say here to help the situation. Instead, the war dog just smiled and squeezed T’Challa’s arm. “I am going to check on Y/N.” She whispered to him quietly. “You got this.”
T’Challa held tightly to Nakia as she tried to pull away, shooting her a “Do not leave me here.” look, which only made Nakia smile. After a few tugs, she finally got her arm out of T’Challa’s hold and she bent down to speak to Shuri. “Sisi (sister), try to at least listen to what he says hmm?” She rubbed the princess’s shoulder gently, satisfied that she could go when Shuri gave her a small nod.
When Nakia left T’Challa sat down next to his sister, pulling his knees to his chest to mimic her. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“No.”
“Okay…” The siblings sat in silence for a little bit, T’Challa unsure of what to say. He tried to think what his Baba would do if he were still here or what kind words his mother would offer but he drew blanks. Just as he went to speak Shuri’s head popped up.
“It is like she wants me to hate her or something.”
“Ingaba uthetha ukuthini? (What do you mean?)” T’Challa turned to look at his little sister confused by her words.
“Y/N, it’s like she wants me to hate her. Everything she does I’m convinced she only does it to infuriate me.” T’Challa recognized the tone of his sister's voice, it was the same one that developed when she had solved a math problem or fixed a mechanical issue by herself. A tone of finality.
“And what has she done thus far to make you hate her?” Now that he understood where Shuri’s problem lay, her brother felt much more confident helping her work through it.
Shuri looked up at her brother as if he was crazy. “What do you mean what has she done to make me hate her? You heard the whole argument right?”
T’Challa nodded.
“Then you have heard just the most recent thing she’s done to infuriate me, becoming friends with Adah.”
“And why can she not be friends with Adah?” T’Challa posed the question simply, raising his eyebrows at the Princess.
“Because she knows I dislike Adah, she could have chosen any girl in the palace to be friends with and yet she chooses the one she knows I do not like? What kind of a friend does that?” Shuri let out a puff of air as she spoke about your behavior, but she didn’t stop there.
“I mean really mkhuluwe (brother), do your friends treat you like that?”
“Shuri,” T’Challa tried to stop his sister from continuing.
“One moment, I am just saying who gave her the right to be so annoying! Friends are not supposed to be annoying-”
“Shuri,” T’Challa tried again to interject but was shut down.
“You came to listen to me talk, yet you keep cutting me off. Like I was saying friends are not supposed to be annoying, petulant, life-sucking-”
T’Challa couldn’t stand it any longer and finally, he fully interrupted her. “Shuri! For Bast's sake listen to me for a moment.”
Shuri cocked her head back in disbelief, cutting her eyes at him in the process. “Did you just yell at me?”
The King swallowed, “Yes.”
Shuri looked him up and down before nodding, impressed at his ability to finally stand up to her. “Go on.”
“All of this,” He gestured around her body. “Is because you’re upset with Y/N, yes?”
Shuri faltered for a second, “Not just because of Y/N-”
“Your heart rate increases when you are lying, try again.”
The Princess gasped, shoving her older brother. “I told you about using your black panther powers on me, it’s weird!”
T’Challa only laughed. “But I am right, yes? All of this is because you’re mad that Y/N has made friends with someone you do not like.”
“Yes.” Shuri’s response was quick, almost as if she didn’t wanna agree to what T’Challa had said.
“But sisi, were you not the one to end the friendship with Y/N in the first place? How can you be mad at the way she has chosen to move on?” T’Challa’s words struck a chord with his sister. “Even if she did deliberately choose Adah to upset you, which we both know our Y/N, and I do not think that is something she would do. Why do you get to treat her poorly because of it?”
Shuri let out a groan and turned away from her brother, but T’Challa continued.
“What it sounds like to me, little sister is that you are jealous that Y/N has moved on and has found someone else to spend her time with.”
Shuri sat there processing her brother's words. Jealous? She wasn’t jealous… Right?
On the other side of the palace, Nakia had finally located you.
“How did I know I would find you here?” The older woman looked up at you in the trees. Nakia guessed that this tree, the same one you would climb up as a child, is where you would be.
“Not too much has changed hmm.” You offered.
“Oh but so much has.” Nakia mused with a smile as she started her ascent into the trees.
“Be careful, your body is not as young as it used to be.” You warned her with a laugh, earning a gentle shove from her once she finally got herself situated.
“Are you calling me old sisi (sister)?”
“I am not calling you young.” Your laughter only increased at her shocked expression.
“I leave for a few months and you start insulting your elders? You really are just like Shuri.” Nakia meant the comment to be funny, and a few years prior it would have been. But now the mention of the princess made the smile slowly fade from your face.
This of course did not go unnoticed by Nakia, she brushed your shoulder with hers gently. “Talk to me about her.”
You shook your head, “Nakia, there's nothing to say about her that I haven't already said. You heard it all.”
“Then tell it to me again. Explain to me how two girls who I watched grow up like sisters, now cannot spend a minute together without fighting.” Nakia’s brown eyes bore into your own. She always had a way about her, this energy that encouraged you to spill what had been weighing on you. And especially up here, high above the palace looking out onto the rest of the Golden City, you felt the urge to open up for once.
“I don’t know what I did to make her so upset with me.” The words came out of your mouth quietly. “It was like one minute she was my best friend and now she can hardly stand the sight of me. Everything I do is somehow wrong in her eyes.”
“You know that’s not how she really feels Y/N.” Nakia tried to reason with you.
“As much as you and Mama keep saying that Nakia, I think you’re wrong.” You finally pulled your eyes away from her. “She is all upset that I’ve chosen to spend time with someone else but she was the one who decided she didn’t want to spend any time with me.”
Nakia tucked a few stray curls behind your ear. “Do you want to know what I think sisi?”
You made a sound of inquiry, encouraging Nakia to continue.
“I think she regrets her decision.”
You whipped your head to face Nakia. “Intoni (What)?”
“I am being serious, I think Shuri regrets her decision about ending the friendship,” Nakia spoke matter of factly as if she had weighed out all the options in front of her and settled on that one.
“Yeah, and what about her behavior is saying ‘I want Y/N back as a friend.’ to you?” The question came out more comical than you intended but you couldn’t help it, the idea Nakia was pushing was laughable.
“You and I both know Shuri, so you and I both know the last thing she can do is admit when she’s wrong. Think back to when we were kids and she didn’t want to admit that it was her miscalculations that made the hair dye ‘semi permanent’ not ‘washable’ like she insisted it was.” The memory Nakia brought up had you laughing.
You and Shuri couldn’t have been but thirteen when she insisted that her new project was a hundred percent safe and a hundred percent NOT permanent. That of course led to you both having matching bright purple streaks in your hair for two months.
Seeing your smile again brought Nakia some peace, she hadn’t lost you to your mind's overthinking yet. “Shuri is just hard-headed. She does not know how to say she wants you back in her life, so she doubles down on her stance.”
You pondered Nakia’s words, it was true that Shuri did seem to double down on her dislike of you in the past three weeks. Almost as if being in increased proximity to you was making her miss you and lash out in response.
“Promise me something?” Nakia wrapped her arm around your shoulder bringing you into her.
“I can’t promise something if I do not know what it is Nakia. What if you wanted me to promise that I’ll jump from this spot right now? That’s not a promise I would make.” You were only rambling to annoy Nakia at this point and she knew it. She brought her other hand to flick your forehead.
“Hush. Just promise me that you won’t shut Shuri out completely?” The older woman looked down at you awaiting your answer. “I know this is hard for you, having to be with her constantly when she isn’t the Shuri we know. But, there will come a time when she is again and I want you two to be able to rebuild when that comes.”
You inhaled deeply debating if this was something you could promise to.
“I’m not asking for you to lay down and let her insult you, Shuri needs someone to keep her in check too.” That got a chuckle out of you. The Princess needed more than just someone to keep her in check, she needed a full attitude adjustment. “But I am just saying, I think the more time you two spend together the more she’ll come back around.” There was a glint in Nakia’s eyes when she spoke that you didn’t recognize.
“Okay.” You agreed quietly.
“Okay?” Nakia squeezed you tight. “I will take an okay, I was not even sure if you were going to let me get this far!”
The two of you both laughed in unison, knowing that it was a rare occasion when you actually took someone's advice. Your laughter was interrupted by the chirp of Nakia’s kimoyo beads alerting her that she had an incoming call.
“Oh it's Challa, let us see what he wants.” The call went through and a holographic picture of the prince popped out of the beads. “Molo (Hello), sthandwa sami (my love). Everything is well I assume?”
T’Challa grinned back at Nakia. “Ewe, just like you said it would.” The two just gazed at each other through the phone for a moment before the King cleared his throat. “I was um calling to see if you’d be joining us for dinner tonight?”
“Of course, I would not miss it for the world.” Nakia’s reply came quick and you could have sworn T’Challa’s smile doubled in size.
The soft sound of Shuri’s voice interrupted the moment. “Is Y/N with you?”
Nakia hesitated a moment, “Yes, she is.”
“Is she uh- coming with us to dinner?” Shuri herself seemed unsure if she actually wanted to ask the question. Peeking out from behind her brother's shoulder, showing that they were both still sitting on the floor.
Nakia looked over at you, trying to judge your body language. When she didn’t sense anything that seemed like you were against the idea she finally spoke. “Ewe, she will be joining us for dinner.”
Shuri sat up from her slouched position, her tone sounding more joyus. “Really? So it will be me, you, T’Challa, Mother, and Y/N. Good.” When she finished speaking she felt the eyes of T’Challa and Nakia on her, now both bearing sickeningly wide smiles. Why were they looking at her like that? As if her response was something they could have predicted. It made the princess check her attitude, returning back to her unbothered demeanor. “It is good Y/N will be joining us, for work and everything.”
“Mhm, I think so too.” T’Challa followed up his sister, alleviating some of the attention from her to himself. “Just like old times.”

a/n: it took me two hours and multiple repeats of ‘lift me up’ to write this 🥹
༺♡༻
Another terrible pain struck through your chest, much worse than the one hours prior. Holding your chest and slowly moving towards the side of the bed to sit down, you breathe slowly to ease the discomfort.
After giving yourself time to relax your chest, you grabbed your phone to search what was actually going on with you. You knew that the search engine would highly say death or another illness to be the cause of your pain but your body feels the same after each pain.
A knock on your door interrupted your train of thought and you tapped your kimoyo beads, far too much in pain to stand and opened the door yourself. Riri stepped in with a concerned look on her face, treading lightly towards you.
"Hey girl. Nakia's been looking for you, it's almost time for the meeting." She softly smiled. Riri had met you on the tour she took of the palace with Nakia when she first arrived. She thought you and Shuri were even married but you explained how you were just close friends and looked out for her after her brother made you promise.
"Are the tribe leaders here already?" You asked and Riri nodded, you also nodded and stood up slowly. Your vision turned white for a quick moment before going back to normal, blinking your eyes as if something went into them. Riri would see you double over in pain almost everywhere in the palace but not knowing how to approach the situation, especially when the war with Namor is close.
You lifted your head to weakly smile at her and fixed your stance to pretend as if nothing was wrong with you. "Let's go. We don't want to keep anyone waiting, especially if it's about us." You said, reaching your door and opening it, allowing Riri to walk out first.
༺♡༻
The ringing in your ear had become louder as you tried to listen to what the Queen was saying and what the tribal leaders were suggesting. The River Tribe leader, Zawe, had kept her eyes on you since you had stepped foot in the throne room. She noticed your body swaying and you constantly trying to keep yourself still. Shuri had her eye on you too, seeing you clench your fist repeatedly but thought nothing of it, just you being anxious.
As the Mining Tribe leader finished their statement, the unknown pain struck you again, going from your chest to your head. Your vision going completely white and the room went silent. It was as if your soul completely left your body and you were floating in space with purple and blue hues. On the outside, you let out an ear piercing scream, dropping down to the floor and immediately alarming everyone in the throne room.
Your eyes had turned white and the veins on your body showed and they were a bright purple, almost giving out light. You were shaking and your skin was getting a little pale. Shuri, as horrified as she was, immediately ran to you and helped Riri pick you up and give you to the Dora Milaje, waiting for their command from Queen Ramonda.
Before the queen could say anything, Zawe spoke up. "We need to get her the heart shaped herb. The myth of Bast is coming true." The last few words had brought chills to the other leaders in attendance, including M'baku himself.
The myth of Bast was, like its namesake, a myth that had been around for centuries but was never told to the younger generations by the order of King T'Chaka before his reign, to not have the youth believe in it. Your mother had briefly told you about it and how Wakandans had hope for Bast's return to the great nation.
The myth implied that the spirit of Bast would enter one's body and reveal themselves to be the Panther Goddess, one of the most powerful beings in the universe. The person would experience pain that scientists wouldn't dare research during transformation and gain powers that could make them rule the world if wanted. However, he who told this myth centuries ago had disappeared shortly after.
Until now, not a single soul in Wakanda has spoken about it nor heard anything about it. Until now.
“How? We have no herbs left!” Someone exclaimed from behind Shuri. As if gears had begun spinning in her head, she remembered your private garden that held the desired herb for whenever Shuri could possibly need it. She had given you prototypes to plant as a way to test on whether they’re effective or not.
“Someone needs to go to her room.” Shuri muttered to herself, gaining the attention of Riri who was watching you be placed on the floating gurney, twitching and crying out and it truly pained the pair to see you like that.
“Her room? The hell would she need there?” Riri questioned, a confused expression held on her features. “She’s got a few prototypes of the heart shaped herb planted in her private garden. I’m going to need you to get it and immediately bring it to the lab-”
Shuri was cut off by you screaming once again then moving your mouth with no sound coming out. “Take me to the garden of the herb. Now.” You demanded in a strained voice. Shuri wasn’t usually someone who could easily be scared however she knew that the voice you spoke in wasn’t yours but a completely different one. It seemed to have scared everyone around you.
Riri looked at you stunned and trudged her way to your room quickly, not wanting to witness anything else. Shuri looked back at her mom who nodded and walked to stand next to you. “Let’s go. I can’t bare to see her in pain.” Queen Ramonda instructed. Okoye, Ayo and Nakia were walking next to your gurney as they made their way out the palace. The remaining royals were escorted to the Royal Talon and Riri would be accompanied by Aneka, who was waiting for her by your bedroom door.
༺♡༻
The cave of the garden held an eerie atmosphere as you entered and everyone who escorted you felt a specific feeling that they couldn’t quite pinpoint but fear was laced into it.
You had calmed down however your glowing veins were still visible and seemed to glow brighter the deeper you were in the cave. You stopped before the stone gazebo which also had the sand pit. Okoye, Nakia and Ayo placed your body on the sand, looking at Riri as she rushed to kneel next to your body. Shuri and Queen Ramonda followed Riri and placed themselves next to you.
Ramonda held the liquid above you, chanting to Bast to communicate with you in the ancestral plane and to remove your pain. As you drank the liquid, the deeper your soul traveled to meet the Panther Goddess. All the ladies beside you quickly buried you in the sand, silently hoping that you come back well.
the ancestral plane
You opened your eyes gently to see pink and blue versions of the northern lights and multiple stars literring the sky. You slowly sat up, looking around noticing the trees where panthers rested. You noticed you was in one of the private gardens of the Great Mound, where Shuri’s main lab was, your place of comfort.
One panther in particular, climbed down the tree and stood in front of you. The realisation of you actually being in the ancestral plane hit hard as you started to breathe faster. The panther transformed in front of you, revealing itself to be T’Challa, smiling at you ever so softly.
Tears pricked at your eyes as you looked at him. He had on the royal colours, purple and gold, in a suit with tribal designs. He looked happier than when you had last been in his presence, no longer suffering from the unknown illness. Before he could even speak, you walked up to him and tightly hugged him. It had been way too long since you had last hugged him.
He had said your name and you looked up at him, detaching from the hug. “I want to thank you. You have lifted Shuri up, keeping your end of the bargain.” He grimaced, making the tears on your face fall gracefully.
“Did you keep yours?” You asked, smiling and sniffling. He looked to the side and smiled. “I do look better, don’t I?” T’Challa joked, make you slightly chuckle.
“T’Challa. Why am I here? If anyone should be seeing you, it’s your sister. She needs to be in your presence.” You muttered. “I’m always with her, she just doesn’t want to believe it. You are doing an excellent job at caring for her just as I would. I’m incredibly proud of you.” Hearing those words come from him caused your tears to fall at a fast pace.
“You see now? I barely cry in front of others.” You smiled as you wiped your tears with your wrist. T’Challa smacked his lips and chuckled. “Crying is for the strongest of people. Always remember that.”
He hugged you again, you smelling his signature scent of mango and coconut with a hint of his everyday cologne. “Now, onto your journey here. It was not me who had requested your presence in the ancestral plane, as good it is to see my family here. She will be here soon.” He stated.
“She? Who is she?” You questioned, looking behind him after his sentence.
“You’ll see, she likes to have special entrances whenever she comes around. I do have to go now. Please tell my family that I love them with everything in me.” He requested and you nodded, going for one last hug, this one lasting a little longer.
“Two things before she arrives. Tell Nakia I love seeing her happy and also tell Shuri everything you want her to hear. She’ll listen. Goodbye, y/n.” Before you could even respond to his requests, he transformed back into his panther state and returned to the tree he came from.
Rumbling came from behind you and your instincts told you to look behind you, revealing a much larger panther than the rest with fur that had streaks of purple adorning it. The eyes of the panther were trained on yours, slowly but surely giving you the creeps.
Just as T’Challa, this panther transformed to a woman. A beautiful woman who fit the description of a goddess. The atmosphere around her had shifted to that of regalia. Her skin was a beautiful shade of dark brown with a body that one would kill for. Her facial features were quite young looking as she displayed her dimples and pearly whites. As she walked closer to you, her dark purple eyes remained the same shade as her pantheress form. Her outfit had thrown you off completely, it resembling a Mugler bodysuit that you had recently bought from Paris. Her hair was in a large afro with a purple halo around her head. Her height was that of Shuri’s, both women taller than you.
It clicked to you that you were in the presence of an actual goddess.
The woman stood in front of you was Bast herself.
“Holy shit.” Your mouth had spoken before you could register a sentence in your brain. You had no idea what to do. This was a deity you and your entire country had loved and worshipped for centuries. This was who you placed your manifestations and dreams to. This was who you put your entire trust in. Your whole heart. This beautiful woman who stood before you was arguably the most powerful being in the universe.
“Dearest y/n. It is an absolute pleasure to meet you. I’ve admired your walk of life and how you have carried yourself. You are truly a gem to Wakanda.” She began slowly and her comments sent heat through your entire body.
“Bast..” you whispered. She gently smiled at you. “Ewe, sthandwa.” She replied.
“I know you have your many questions and I’m here to answer however you do have to get back. They’re all waiting for you.” She added.
“Why me? Do I have any significance here?” You asked. “Ah yes! You, my dearest angel, are a true descendant of me. When you were born, you were considered special. You had an aura around you that couldn’t be pinpointed. I chose you for a reason.” The goddess expressed.
“Descendant?” You said stunned, essentially brushing of everything else she said.
“Yes!” She cheered. “Just as my dear Wakandans have theorised, there’s a descendant of mine walking amongst them. Y/n, you have inherited my powers to help others and to protect Wakanda alongside the Black Panther.” She explained.
Before you could even ask about the powers, she continued. “I do apologise for the painful process of gaining your powers but it was the only way. For now, it is your duty to protect Wakanda alongside Shuri. I will guide you through it all through your dreams.”
“Does that mean that..I’m a goddess?” You hesitated and Bast nodded. “In the ancestral plane and the eternal realm, you will be known as Bahati, to give you individuality amongst the others. You are now the most powerful being in the universe alongside the most powerful person in the world.”
As you’re processing everything, certain words had caught you off guard. “Your… majesty, you had mentioned the Black Panther. We don’t have that in the real world.” You mentioned making her smile.
“Oh, just you wait, y/n. The Queen has made lovely progress already as we can already see the future.” She added with a smile, making you more confused than you already are.
“Wait-”
“And do tell the girl your true feelings, we need entertainment around here.” She winked at you and you felt yourself being pulled backwards.
You gasped loudly, drawing the attention of everyone in the cave who was watching you float in mid air. You closed your eyes and saw Bast again.
“Show them who you are.”
You opened them again and you were gently let down on the floor. Looking at everyone around you with shocked faces. The first one to break their facade was Shuri, immediately lunging forward to hug you as if you left forever.
“How long was I gone for?” You whispered in a hoarse voice due to the excessive screaming from before.
“20 minutes, plus minus. You scared me, y/n. I was starting to think that you weren’t coming back. I wouldn’t have anyone to call my best friend-”
“Shuri, I saw him.” You looked at her softly, causing her to pause and look into your eyes.
“Y/n.” Queen Ramonda started.
“He loves you all very much, with everything in him. Shuri, he’s incredibly proud of you.” You smiled, watching Shuri release small tears along with Ramonda and Nakia who appeared in front of you.
“Are you okay though? Seeing you floating and shit was scary.” Riri asked, making you to turn to her and she gasped loudly. “What?” You looked at her confused as she gazed into your eyes as if she was studying them.
“Your eyes…they’re purple.” Nakia pointed out. You couldn’t react, knowing you couldn’t see yourself. Shuri realised your new eye colour and gasped when it went back to your normal eye colour.
“Is it bad timing to ask Griot anything?” Shuri asked and you shook your head, non-verbally giving your permission.
“Griot. please check Y/n’s vitals and database.” She called out to the AI on her kimoyo bracelet, a large screen projecting itself with your hologram on it.
“Of course, Princess. Y/n l/n is a 19 year old black Wakanda female originating from the River Tribe. Her most recent database update includes an influx of supernatural abilities in her blood, it reading that it is the powers of the Panther Goddess, Bast herself. As of 20 minutes, Y/n’s database now includes Goddess status. In the eternal realm of all powerful beings, she is known as Bahati, Bast’s descendant.” Griot finishes, causing the cave to go silent.
Everyone looked at you with faces of shock and confusion.
“Holy shit.” Shuri quietly cussed, her mom gently hitting her arm.
“Shuri!” Ramonda whisper-yelled.

Whipped Cream 🤍…
This story is inspired by my favorite song whipped cream-Ari lennox 🫶🏽
Summary: y/n and Shuri have been friends since teens , they met through their moms . One day y/n Mom get Ill and Decides to let Queen Ramonda take care of her since y/n doesn’t really knows her dad . Around 16-18 shuri and y/n have a on and off relationship without anyone knowing especially the Queen, A lot of bumpy roads both of them ride on with each other , but they figure it out .💔
Warning:possessive shuri,Brat reader, cursing, smut⚠️⛔️(oral,,kissing, strap slinger shuri🌝), death,Angst, fluff, jealousy, light choking 😉,Crying (reader a crybaby), Manipulation, Embarrassment kink, Obeying kink, pussy whipped (reader and shuri), THIS WHOLE THING IS TOXIC AND CONTROLLING SO DONT TAKE THIS SERIOUS
Me and Shuri have known each other since we was around 14 until one day I had to move to America to live with my dad, And yes I am half American and wakandan bc my mom is from Wakanda and my dad is African American. I’ve lived in and out of Wakanda, My mom was really close to Queen Ramonda that’s how me and shuri met. Both of us was 14 and Ramonda wanted to catch up with my mom since both of them grew up together, so Ramonda invited me and my mom to the palace bc she also wanted me to meet her children.
When we arrived at the palace shuri was standing right next to her mom with a smile on her face when I approached them while having my headphones in, my mom snatched them off my head and whispered to me “show respect before I take your phone” she said “hi I’m y/n, nice to meet you” I said sarcastically while staring at them both with a smirk “wow” Shuri said shocked that I am in fact a rude person “Shall we ?” Queen Ramonda said pointing towards the entrance of their home “yes, and sorry” My mother whispered to Ramonda “it takes a village so don’t worry about it” Ramonda said with a chuckle.
When we entered the palace they introduced me to T’CHALLA and he was very kind, After 20 minutes of eating dinner with them and our moms catching up while laughing they dismissed us from the table and told me and shuri to go get to know each other more.
*in shuri’s room*
“Wow” I said walking into shuri’s humongous room “you can make yourself comfortable on my bed if you want?” Shuri said closing the door behind her, I walked to shuri’s bed and did what she said . “Sooo..”Shuri trailed off slowly walking towards me “what do you like to do for fun?” She finally asked “umm…I honestly into technology mostly but other than that I read, listen to music or skate board due to my dad teaching me when I was younger” I said “oh ok that seems cool…I like technology too.” Shuri said smiling while walking away “it’s awkward in here” I said bluntly while now standing up “yea…” Shuri said taking a deep breath “ want to listen to music ?” Shuri asked “sure.”
After spending two hours with shuri we found out we have things in common with each other , from being a popular loner to the music taste . Me and shuri had made a pact to hang out again to get to know each other more since we barely like dealing with people we very much clung to each other like we was meant to be friends, or even more than that, not saying I like shuri or nothing it’s just I feel like we are gonna have a long road ahead of us .
*5 years later*
Today is my 18TH birthday and I am so excited! I can’t believe that I am actually finally legal , I just wish that my mom was here to witness this bc ever since she been gone I’ve kinda felt lost even with the Queen and shuri been a big help with taking care of me since I was 16 and helping me heal , it’s just been a lot and I’ve even been to therapy to deal with my depression and attachment issues.
Oh ya… you guys didn’t know? Sorry I forgot to tell you .
My dad stop calling when I turned 15 so it’s always been me and my mom , But after me and shuri first meeting we have been hanging with each other non stop and I mean non stop. Okoye would say we was attached at the hip and I would 100% believe her . At 16 and shuri was 17 of course , I found out my mom had this very indescribable disease that neither me or shuri can figure out , till a couple months later it was too late , MY MOM TOOK HER LAST BREATH AT 38 Years old . That whole day was the worst day of my life bc I felt to small, like I was trapped in a bottle and can’t help to get out . Everyday I think about her, HER smile, HER smell,HER laugh, HER funny jokes, HER loving hugs, HER supportive ways, HER everything. Saying that I’m doing mentally okay was a understatement, bc I’m not.
*BACK TO THE PRESENT*
(Tonight me and shuri thought it was a good idea to get fucked up and also have fun , so we decided to throw a amazing 18TH party for me)…
I wore a cute champagne spaghetti strap dress with clear heels, And curled hair ofc .
Shuri decided to where a black button down shirt with black pants and a chain with a panther claw on it , Along side some sexy heels she go my for her 19th birthday.
“Y/n hurry we are gonna be late!” Shuri said while banging on my room door “OKAY MY BAD I DIDNT KNOW YOU WAS A PARENT WITH 12 KIDS !” I shouted back bc who was she rushing..
Once we made it to the club I am easily greeted by my little small group of friends, people that came to show love for my party, some of my friends who work in the lab beside me. “OMG YOU LOOK SO GORGEOUS MY LOVE !” My friend rhinestone says “THANK YOU BEBE!” I say pulling her into a hug. “ENOUGH LOLLY GAGGING LET GO GET WASTED !
After one shot, it turned into two, after two it turned into three, after three it went to fourth, after four it went to five, and let’s just say I get wasted quick.
( PLAY , I KNOW THERES GONNA BE A GOOD TIME- YOUNG THUG AND JAMIE XX)
MY song comes on and let’s just say my body was moving on its own honestly, I make my way through the crowd to start moving my hips as the rock, side, to side. I feel eyes burning in my skin , as I turn around I noticed her staring at me with nothing but lust in her eyes, then her eyes follows the figure behind me . Apparently there was hands slowly coming from behind me to grip my hips so I started to keep grinding on the unknown male , bc why not ? . As I look back to the corner shuri was at she was moving her finger in a (come here) motion so I obeyed bc I thought she genuinely wanted something even though I’m drunk as ever, as I got closer she quickly yanked me up by my neck (not in a abusive way THE FUCK) “WHAT TF ARE YOU DOING Y/N ARE YOU TRYING TO TEMPT ME Tonight BY DANCING ON SOME RANDOM AND LITERALLY MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH ME, YOU KNEW EXACTLY YOU WAS DOING , YOU WAS BEING A BRAT AND IM GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW BRATS GET TREATED!” She said in a low shout “meet me in the car, NOW!” She shouted in my ear . I QUICKLY MADE IT TO THE CAR WITH NO HESITATION BC IM IN SHOCK OF SEEING THIS SIDE OF SHURI , I KNEW SHE WAS MEAN BUT NOT THIS TYPE OF MEAN . And not to be that person but I got a little wet at that and couldn’t wait for what she was finna do when we got back to the palace bc me and shuri only had sex once and that was after like 2 months my mom died and it was just sex I needed to relieve my pain and after that night together we promised to just stay best friends and never mention it again .
The ride back to the palace was so silent , I can feel my wetness slowly dripping down my thigh and a pit in my stomach for what ever punishment shuri had for me , when we made inside the palace shuri gave me a quick glance and said “go to my room and strip and you better be naked by the time I get up there or it will be more consequences.” She said in a low tone , I quickly made it up to her room and did everything she told me to do , she slowly walked in locking the door behind and licking her lips like I was a snack , good thing I sober up quick . “Lay down and spread your legs” Shuri says while taking off her shirt and watch, less then a second shuri was between my legs licking my clit at the fastest pace and ever while being three fingers feel inside me , “UGHH- FUCK BABY IM ABOUT TO CU-” with out a thought I came so hard everything felt like it was turning white , “MHM” I squirted while making a high pitch moan that I never did before, I immediately went shy till shuri said “THATS MY GOOD GIRL” she said while slapping my pussy making me squeal a little. “Get on all fours and arch for me Usana” Shuri said while walking to her closet, “AHHHH!!!” I moaned so loud as shuri shoved in with out a warning with her strap while going at a impossible speed “FU- SHURI SLOW DOW-” *CLAP* “HUSH AND TAKE THIS DICK OR YOU WILL NOT CUM !” Shuri said after sending a harsh slap to my ass…
After a hour and 30 minutes of shuri fucking me brain less ,she bathed me and put me to bed after that she gave me a kiss on my forehead.
*two days later*
It’s been two days since shuri fucked me and she been keeping her distance lately, I was wondering why until she came in the lab today smiling and giggling with a girl she had her hands around her waist with . WTF , DID I MISS SOMETHING, I said to my self . Shuri noticed me and her smile instantly dropped, “Shuri can we talk for a minute ?” I said in the calmest voice I could ever have. “What’s up ?” Shuri answered with furrowed brows “who is that?” I asked “Lia” she said “mhm” I said “wym mhm?” Shuri asked with raised eye brow “just mhm” I said turning away and exiting to go back to my room .
“That was weird” RiRi said after I told her about what’s been happening “ so she just gonna leave you WHIPPED like that and bring who ever lia is, to her lab all hugged up with no real answer on who lia really is?” RiRi asked now getting mad about the situation “idk but two can play that game …” I said before me and rir said our good byes and hung up the phone.
*Time skip*
Two months has passed and I figured out that Lia and shuri use to fling with each other so I ended finding me a lil boo too , mykel, mykel has been breaking my back in , but not how shuri use to . I met mykel in the lab a couple times bc she usually the work in the area I work in , just to show him off to shuri I always kissed him in front of her or even let him hug me by my waist in front of shuri and trust me when I tell you , she HATED him!
“Hi babe” mykel said walking inside the lab coming towards my desk. “Hi handsome” i said with a bright smile , Me and mykel only been together for 4 weeks but so far it was going good , “what’s the move for tonight sexy ?” Mykel asked “idk you tell me, Bc no matter how much I will love to watch a movie and chill, I also will love to make a movie of our own” I said while straddling his lap (Right now me and mykel the only one in the lab since it’s 9pm)
“Y/n Will be right back!” Shuri said while grabbing me tightly by the arm and dragging me from mykel lap to a secluded under construction corner
“HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING MARBLES?!” Shuri whispered/yelled “I’m sorry I didn’t know you was here.” I said “I honestly feel like you are tryna piss me off with that scum you’ve claimed to be with , And also me and you both know he can’t beat that pussy up better than me so stop this madness between you and him RIGHT NOW OR I SWEAR TO BAST I WILL MAKE YOU AND HIS LIFE A LIVING HELL!” Shuri has officially lost her mind , Did this bitch just threaten me to break it off with mykel when she literally has a whole Girlfriend, OH hell no I’m finna turn up on her ass.
“YOU FUCKING BIT-” Before I can even finish I felt a hand wrap around my neck (Not a hard hold) “WATCH who you talking to Phambi kokuba ndimxelele uMntu wakho Indlela ebendindibize ngayo ngoTata, kwaye undithembe i wont hesitate ( Before i tell your Man How I had you calling me Daddy, And trust me i wont hesitate)” Shuri semi Whispered in my Ear . Shuri let go of me and walked off before turning back around and said “Do what I told you….NOW!” Then walked out the lab back door , When I looked around the corner shuri had me held at I noticed Mykel was packing up leaving “Babe? Can we talk for a minute?” I asked getting closer to him “ya wassup, And why was Queen Shuri so mad?” He asked “She just wanted to talk to me about a new project that I forgot about that’s all” “Ohhh okay, We’ll what you wanted to talk about?” mykel asked “I think we should break up…” I said with my head down “Why? Did I do something wrong?” “No!no no …It’s just I need to focus on myself for a while that’s it” I said with a tremble in my voice Tears was threatening to spill bc I seen his face sadden and it honestly broke my heart “I-I understand y/n… I’m sorry I got to Go” Mykel said rushing pass me sniffling slightly bumping my shoulder. When he left I honestly broke down letting all my tears fall bc I really liked him and he made me happy, I didn’t have to go through any toxic stages with him and he brung me hope and peace , but I guess good things doesn’t last forever…But this was the only way for me to keep both me and him safe bc everyone knows shuri is not the one to be played with…
After my little break down gathered my things and went home to cry some more bc ever since Queen Ramonda died shuri has been such a controlling,Manipulative, possessive,Mean person who wasn’t the same kind, understanding, sweet shuri that I use to love being around . It like the more I got older the more her love grew for me, And the more her love grew for me was more possessive she gotten.
*1 Month later*
It has now been a Month since shuri made me break up with Mykel and ever since that night shuri has doing nothing but getting under my skin , for example, she will have me staying in the labs from 5am till 9pm literally doing nothing but paper work or watching her do nothing !, Another time she had me do all her work just bc she claimed she has a meeting when she literally only went to Starbucks and took a nap for 4 hours.
I haven’t seen mykel after that night also, rumor has it he quit and moved back to nigeria. I kinda moved on from him but not as much bc little things kinda reminded me of how happy I was with him. Shuri and her girlfriend are still together of course, WHICH IS SO UNFAIR due to the fact shuri only wanted me to break up so she can still fuck me and keep her girlfriend, Yes you heard me I said still fuck me. Every time I even look at shuri she’s already staring and if I mouth off too her about stuff I don’t want to work on she has to put me in my place it’s either Fucking me senseless or giving me to silent treatment. Believe it or not I’m still madly in love with shuri it’s just she wants her cake and she want to eat it too, I sometimes just don’t understand us.
“FUCK YOU SHURI !” was all I heard outside the lab , When I turned my head I seen A angry Lia stomping away from shuri. When I seen shuri coming towards the door I quickly turned back around acting like I was still working on the sequence I supposed to did yesterday but my head was hurting at the time, “EVERYONE OUT !!” Shuri yelled which made everyone scatter out of the Lab , I grabbed my stuff and was finna leave from my station when I heard “NO YOU STAY !” When the lab was now clear she turned back around to look at me with nothing but lust and anger in my eyes “You look so good right now” shuri said as she looked at my black body con dress with my black bubble slides, gold anklet, and white lab coat. “And why do you have on slides in my Lab ?” She asked with a raised eyebrow while slightly biting her lip “I-I-I’m sorry , I j-ust thought since I wasn’t going to be here for long that I could wear something comfortable” I said stuttering a little bit bc she made me nervous I couldn’t even look her in the eye, “What did I tell you about eye contact?” Shuri said while slowly walking up to me, I didn’t say a word just kept my head down looking at the jewelry on my slides until I seen some black and white retro dunks come in my vision , shuri then lifted my chin with a not so tightly grip that made me look her in the eye “I STRICTLY SAID WHEN I AM TALKING TO YOU , YOU LOOK IN MY EYES , WHEN I AM FUCKING YOU SO HARD THAT YOU CRY YOU LOOK INTO MY EYES, WHEN I AM THREE FINGERS DEEP IN YOU , YOU LOOK INTO MY EYE! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!!” Shuri yelled “Y-YES” I whispered “YES WHAT ?!” Shuri said while now giving my ass a harsh slap that made me Instantly get wet “YES DADDY !” I Moaned while biting my lip to try to keep my other ones back “Meet me in my room I need you naked and layed on your back or I promise I will not make you Cum for two months” shuri said I quickly walked out the lab to do what she said when I made it to her room.
Let’s just say that’s after that night Shuri claimed me as Hers and promised me that she will never put me before a bitch who pussy isn’t good as mines ever again, After Shuri destroyed me for 2 hours me and her was layed down naked under her cover while I’m layed on her chest “Shuri what happened to Lia and mykel?” I asked curious “I sent mykel away and banned him from Wakanda” MY MOUTH DROPPED IN SHOCK “And Lia was mad bc I did the same to her and told her , Her pussy wasn’t good and kinda dry” MY EYES AND MOUTH WAS NOW WIDE BC WTF?!!! “Close your mouth before I stick the dick back in it” shuri said while kissing my neck , I quickly closed my mouth bc I’m tired. “I Love you shuri” I said while kissing her boobs since she kinda sitting up and I’m still layed on her chest “I love you More y/n , always and forever. You’re not going anywhere and me and you both know that”
Ever since we was teen we have both been
Whipped!
THE END 😛

illicit nights
“a little less conversation and a little more touch my body.”
shuri x black!reader | 18+
Summary: You were born and raised in Wakanda, but you chose to leave to pursue a modeling career. You've amassed global fame as an international model, gracing runway shows, featuring in luxury campaigns, and appearing in fashion magazines. You're in the spotlight, and the entire world is watching your every move. After a very public breakup, you decide to return home to reconnect with your country and the people you love.
You didn't expect to catch the attention of your sister's best friend in your attempt to get over your heartbreak, let alone end up in a private sexual relationship with said friend. The Wakandan Queen.
word count: 5.9k
themes: model/famous reader, queen shuri, childhood friends, hookups
warnings: sex, drinking, idk i forget y’all read this before
hi! 🤧😔 this is actually kinda hard because i never title my stories in the documents and i make copies when i’m editing in case i delete something and i want it so i’m going through so many documents to find the right one and then all the outfits are gone. i can’t remember the themes and warnings i put… anyways, y’all good sister is back up
When you decided not to attend Wakanda University to pursue a modeling career, you did not doubt that you would succeed. Your parents wanted you to follow in the footsteps of your elder sister, but subjects like physics and calculus never piqued your interest. There was a lot of debate regarding your decisions, especially when you told your family that you were leaving Wakanda. Many Wakandans live beyond the borders, but you weren't looking for a simple life.
You were blessed with breathtaking beauty and the qualities for which others were willing to pay millions. It's hardly surprising with a face like yours, in just a few years, your career has skyrocketed to unfathomable heights, catapulting you into worldwide fame. Every fashion week, you're on the runway, traveling worldwide for campaigns, fittings, and numerous billboards of your face.
While you like the acclaim and spotlight, you quickly learn that being such a public figure in the entertainment industry has drawbacks. You have been in a highly publicized relationship with actress Mya Hope for nearly two years. Maybe it was your naivety, being new to everyone, but you and Mya hit it off immediately. It was lovely initially, but as your relationship progressed, it was just continuous disputes, mistrust, and resentment. You endured it because you expected things to change one day, but then Mya cheated. You learned through a gossip article that several individuals provided you with via text and social media.
Because her infidelity provided concrete evidence that things weren't working out between the two of you, you broke up. It was awful after the public found out. You've had relationships in the past, but they were the silly childlike attachments all kids have as time passes. Nothing has ever been this long or public. Being followed around and pressured into making a statement about something so personal was a culture shock. Who in their right mind wants to expose their private grievances to the rest of the world?
This month was an emotional roller coaster, and after wrapping up a photo shoot for Dior's upcoming campaign, you instructed your manager not to arrange anything else. You needed some alone time and wanted to go home and rest away from everything and everyone—home, not LA.
With the help of your older sister, Izara, by the end of the week, you'll be back in the safety of your rightful home, Wakanda.
Your mother never approved of Mya, and despite your best efforts to keep your family informed, she had kept up with your activities in your work through Western media, including your relationship. You guessed it was because she was afraid you'd end up permanently residing outside of Wakanda, but maybe mother intuition told her the relationship wasn’t right for her daughter.
When you arrived at the house where you'd grown up and rushed back to your mother's arms, she didn't criticize or tell you that you should have listened. "I expected you to say I told you so." You inform her.
"A mother can only guide her child and hope that they will listen, but it's our responsibility to be here when you fall," she adds as she pulls you tight.
The next day, your sister comes over first thing in the morning. Izara was four years older than you. You two were close; she was your elder sibling, and you naturally respected her intelligence and accomplishments. However, as you matured, you came to see that you had different interests despite your shared affection for one another. While Izara excelled at technology and engineering, you discovered a love of fashion and beauty. You loved your nation and knew you could build a successful career in Wakanda once you found you wanted to be a model, but you wanted to be known worldwide.
Being the baby of the family, it was difficult for your family to accept that you were going, but they realized deep down that there wasn't much they could do to influence you or your choices. As they witnessed your success, your family became increasingly supportive and proud. The only disadvantage is that your career has kept you away from Wakanda and the people you care about. It was challenging to find time to return home while growing your profession. You weren't worried about taking time off now that you were in a secured position in the industry.
“What are you moving back in?” Your sister makes a joke about all the things you brought. One packing rule you had was that it was better to be cautious than sorry. You’d rather overpack than need something thousands of miles away. After all, you didn't arrive by plane. A Wakandan aircraft had no weight restrictions.
Your mother is quick to reprimand her. “Hush. My child is always welcome to come back.”
“I- I don’t know about moving back yet,” You admit, dismissing any thoughts your mother has about you moving in. "But, I'll be here a little while." Though you did not intend to stay in Wakanda indefinitely, you weren't in a hurry to go. The combination of fresh air and your mom's homemade pastries positively impacted your mood.
Later, you and your sister relaxed in the living room while your mother was in the kitchen. She was so excited to see both of her daughters under the same roof after such a long period that she rushed to prepare tea and lime cake. Your favorites. “No moping. Your sadness is going to make me sad,” Izara says, frowning at you.
"I'm not moping," you say with a sigh. “It wasn’t even going to last. We fought a lot. I knew I was unhappy, but all the attention was overwhelming. It simply has to blow over." Your sister was the only person who understood the ins and outs of your previous relationship. She was your closest confidante and had warned you to leave Mya so often that she was probably exhausted by how stubborn you were.
Izara hums understandingly. “Don’t worry. It will. Those silly foreigners will find something else trivial and pointless to focus on. In the meantime, you need to be out and enjoy being single.” She advises. “Like, when’s the last time you had sex?”
“Izara, shut up,” there’s a warning in your tone. You confided in your sister about many things, but that was where you drew the line. She didn't need to know what you did, and you didn’t need to know what she did. Though the question did make you think, it’s been over a month since the initial break up, and you and Mya had long stopped being intimate. The passion just wasn’t there.
Izara is always persistent and keeps talking. “What! We’re both grown. We can talk about that now.”
“Absolutely not.” You groan, deciding to change the conversation to focus on your sister, “How is work?” She’d recently been promoted at her job working in the laboratory at the palace. She had called to tell you, but you had been in the midst of a photoshoot. Part of you felt bad you couldn’t give her your full attention upon hearing the news.
As the director of research methodologies, she spent a great deal of time in the various villages conducting focus groups to determine where improvements were needed. She then brought the data back to the lab, where they worked to enhance the areas that needed it. “It's incredible. I feel good knowing that my work has a positive influence.” Your sister has always been active in the community, dedicating her life to helping others.
“That’s amazing, Izara. I’m proud of you.” You say because you genuinely are, even though you didn’t take after your sister and her love for science. Her drive and passion are admirable. “It’s okay. It’s your job not to be fucked up so I can be the rebellious one.”
That gets a laugh out of your sister. You’ve missed that sound. “Not to brag, but I’ve been considering returning to University for my Ph.D.. Shuri is encouraging me.”
Shuri. Since childhood, the Princess, now Queen of Wakanda, was your sister's best friend. They attended the same primary school and connected instantly. You recall when Izara snuck Shuri into your home for a playdate, unbeknownst to your mother and the King and Queen. The Dora Milaje arrived at your mother's home with spears in hand before learning that the mischievous princess had sneaked away to play with her new companion. Your cheeks rise as you recall that day. "There's that smile again!"
“Just remember the time you almost got our entire family executed.” You chuckle, and Izara groans. She hates this story.
“We didn’t know any better!” After that day, Queen Ramonda invited your sister to the palace to play to prevent any other misunderstandings. Shuri would occasionally come to your house, allowing the two girls to form a lasting bond. “You had the biggest crush on her. You used to follow us around whenever she’d come over,” Izara added, laughing as if it was the funniest thing in the world.
For the record, it was a brief crush. The wooden doll house you had collapsed a few weeks before your seventh birthday, and you cried all night about it. Shuri presented you with a fully equipped doll house for your birthday. You recall looking on with wide eyes as she demonstrated all of the functions, the lights switched on, and water poured out of the sink. Still, you'd never acknowledge it. “I did not have a crush on her. I was following you. I wanted to be just like you until I realized how boring you were.” You snickered. A look of disbelief crosses your sister's face, and you laugh harder.
"I should thank Shuri," you say once you've quieted down. When you told Izara you were planning to return home, she enlisted the assistance of her best friend, who made every effort to ensure your safe arrival. You're not sure you could have endured another moment amid the chaos.
“You should, and she would love to see you.” Your sister agrees. “I have to go to the office tomorrow. Actually, we can stop over there, and then we can go to the shops. I have to buy Aneka a birthday gift.” Aneka, another one of your sister's friends. She had such a bold personality but was always kind to you. “Oh, and you’re coming Saturday.”
"I-" you start, thinking for a moment. There's no justification for you staying at home, feeling miserable over a failed relationship that wasn't going anywhere. It's been a little more than a month, and you're supposed to be unwinding and having fun. Izara squeals and orders you to be prepared by an ungodly hour after you accept.
You and your sister traveled to Birnin Zana the following day. You knew the Golden City but had never been within the Citadel. While your sister is likely to be familiar with both the interior and outside of the high-rise glass tower, you have never stepped foot inside. With all the Dora Milaje present, it was a little intimidating, and you did your best to keep up with your sister in your heels. As Izara was a few steps ahead of you, someone you imagined was a staff member gave you a strange look. “Stop walking so fast.”
Izara ignores your request and keeps moving. "No one told you you had to wear those shoes." She lets you catch up by coming to a halt in front of an elevator.
“It’s not the shoes. It’s you.” You argue, coming up to her as you wait for the elevator.
As you rode the elevator, your thoughts turned to the new Queen. Several years have passed since your last interaction with her. Shuri had always impressed you with her intelligence, and she was extraordinarily strategic and visionary. She undoubtedly carried those attributes with her when she ascended to the throne.
“I didn't tell her you were coming. She’s going to be so surprised.” Izara scans her badge and enters the lab. You follow behind her. “Shuri, I have the file you asked for; sorry, I was reviewing it over to make sure we caught all the errors from the last trial and-”
Shuri had looked up when she heard your sister's voice, but you saw her eyes widen in your presence. “Y/N?” You watch as she blinks a few times, taking you in.
Shuri’s hair was short now, the sides shaved, and her hair coiled into a mohawk. She wore a light gray boiler suit. Truth be told, you did have a crush on Shuri when you were younger but grew out of it. It was the projection of a childish imagination. It faded with time and age as you ventured away from your sister and developed your own relationship with friends, no longer in the same space as the Wakandan Princess. But now, she looks good, very good.
“Hi,” you say, happy to see another familiar face. After being surrounded by strangers and new faces for the past few years, the familiarity of home was comforting. "I appreciate you arranging transportation for me to get here." You instantly tell her, knowing the reason for your visit. You did not intend to disturb her.
Shuri is quick to respond, “Of course, Izara said you wanted to visit. It was no trouble.” It was the honest truth. You know Shuri would do anything for your sister and, in relation, you.
Izara smiles, “I’m happy to have my little sister home though I wish it were under better circumstances. I’m trying to cheer her up.” Your sister pinches your cheeks and immediately moves away from reach when you swat her hand away. She might be a little obnoxious. You are not a baby.
“I am not a baby.” You vocalize, rolling your eyes.
"You'll always be my baby," she replies with a childish pout. "Now, wait right here. I’ll be back. I’m going to grab something from my office.” Izara says as she walks out of the lab, leaving you and Shuri alone.
You begin to appreciate the painting on the cylindrical pillar in the room, assuming you won't bother Shuri anymore, but Shuri speaks. “To what do I owe this visit? Not every day, I have Wakanda’s most famous supermodel walking into my lab,” she jokes.
It’s clear she’s being humorous, but your face heats up. “Oh, I wanted to see you and say thank you. I’m just following Izara around, and we’re going to pick out a birthday gift for Aneka.” You explain, trying to ignore the sensation in your cheeks.
Shuri is now leaning back against one of the tables, completely focused on you. "What did Izara mean when she said 'better circumstances'?" She inquires, her gaze fixed on yours.
She patiently waits. You pause, unsure how much you should reveal. All the arguments and nights of crying make you question if your sister ever mentioned Mya to Shuri. You make the decision to keep things simple. “I’m going through a very public breakup which means nothing to anyone here but everything to the media out there.”
“You know how hard it is to be walking down the street and be harassed with a thousand questions about your ex?” It was a rhetorical question. The media was ruthless and would stop at nothing until they could pull enough out of you to exploit for their own selfish advantage.
Shuri, being the intellect she is, probably realizes you'd rather not discuss this and moves on. "Wakanda, thankfully, does not have such an animalistic journalism system." Culturally, there was a high level of respect and awareness throughout the community that your business was private. Wakanda was far more developed and gave little thought to gossip and drama.
You were thankful for that. Breakups aren’t easy, no matter how shitty the relationship was. External stress wasn’t helping with your mood. You finally felt like you could breathe. “Exactly. Anyways I’m happy to be back.”
“Any plans?” She asks.
You shake your head. “Other than spending time with my family, no.” Further into your stay, you’d probably come up with some type of itinerary, but you were laying low for now. “Izara thinks I should be out enjoying being single.” She or your mom would probably try to set you up sooner or later.
Shuri nods in agreement. “She’s right, you know? There’s no reason to waste time thinking about someone who isn’t thinking about you when you could be having fun.”
The bluntness of Shuri’s words surprises you. “I suppose I’m young. I should be doing what I want with who I want.” You remark in a lighthearted tone.
Shuri glances at you, licking her lips, and winks. "Exactly," she replies. Your heart rate increases. Is she hitting on you?
Izara returns, and you both say goodbye to the Queen before heading to the shops. The brief exchange has left your thoughts in a frenzy. You spent the rest of the day trying to persuade yourself. Shuri was undoubtedly attractive, but there was no way a years-old crush would be rekindled within seconds of seeing her again. A crush you had when you were five at that, but the way her tone held so much suggestion.
Wakanda's nightlife was always lively. People come together, clubbing at the same venue, existing at the same time in the same place. It was an essential aspect of the culture and many people's choice for a social gathering or celebration.
The next night, you're on Elixir's second floor, famed for its massive and powerful alcoholic beverages. Aneka's party had the entire floor to themselves, and she leaped up and down as soon as she noticed you. “Ah! Baby Izara! We see your billboards when we’re on missions outside Wakanda.” She tells you, and you feel shy under all the attention. It was nice to know that the people at home were supportive in seeing you thrive. "Thank you!" You exclaim as you hug her. You said hello to a couple more people before ordering a cocktail and settling in. You're seated alone in one of the many round booths. Your sister and a few others had gone downstairs to join the sea of crowded and sweaty bodies.
You had the idea to go down there. Dance on someone, make an emotionless connection, and return to their apartment, but you know in the back of your mind that it wasn't for you. Impersonal connections lack the comfort of knowing each other's bodies and personalities.
There's quite a commotion at the club's entrance, and you peek down to see all the excitement. Shuri navigated the crowd with a small group of individuals following behind her. The woman was dressed in all black, with form-fitting pants and a tailored blazer—dark shades, shielding her eyes from those around her.
You felt something stirring deep within you the entire time your attention was drawn to her.
The sheer strength and command of her presence divides the crowd. She doesn’t have to ask. Everything about her screams dominance, and you can't deny that you're drawn to it, trying not to let your imagination wander into the illicit territory. This was not a crush. This was pure want. Shuri makes her way up the large metal steps, where she is embraced by the bubbly birthday girl who has had too many drinks. “Shuri! You made it,” Aneka says excitedly. The sweet look Ayo gives her excited girlfriend warms your heart. They're adorable.
Before hugging Aneka, the Queen leans in and says something only she can hear. She fades from view as she moves deeper into the scene, most likely conversing with others. When you see Shuri again, she's walking over to you, drink in hand, her steps purposeful.
She slides into the booth across from you without asking. “I’m surprised you’re not down there dancing. What happened to being young and single?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Please," you retort. "So I can have sweaty men press their balls on my back. Thank you, but no." Your lips were pursed.
“So you came out to sit around?” Shuri comments. “In such a pretty outfit,” she notes. Her eyes are covered behind those black shades, but her statement indicates she's checking you out, taking in the way your boobs sit nicely and the tiny skirt displaying the silky flesh of your upper thigh. There's a trace of something in her voice as if she's coaxing you to reveal more, understanding there's more to your decision to isolate yourself. Again, a tempting tone.
You’re not in the mood for mind games. “You ask a lot of questions. Besides, are you not doing the same thing?” Your voice is laced with skepticism as you eye her.
Shuri lets out a disagreeing sound. “I’m here to celebrate Aneka and enjoy my night.”
If she can tease you, why can’t you do the same? You twirl your tongue around the straw in your drink, and Shuri can’t look away. “Since you’re here with me, am I a part of the enjoyment?”
When your eyes meet, there’s a glint of danger in them. “I think you should behave.” Her tone was low and warning.
If she believed that would get you to listen, she was mistaken. That resulted in the opposite effect, as you felt arousal between your legs. "And what if I don't?" You push, your eyes innocent, as if you had no idea how provocative your tone was. She looked damn good in that suit.
You were putting aside the complication caused by the fact that Shuri was your sister's best friend and the Queen of your country. Something enticed you to make a move on her. You notice the cherry in her glass and immediately say, "I can tie that with my tongue." It was a cool trick you picked up from a model in Cannes. People were always shocked at how simple you made it look before trying it themselves.
Shuri glances at you as she takes the cherry into her mouth instead of answering vocally. The stem is just beyond her lips, and her brows are lifted, waiting for you. You bend across the table, making sure not to brush your lips together as you move the stem from her mouth to yours. She keeps a close eye on you while you concentrate on your task, stretching your tongue upward and trapping it against the roof of your mouth.
You stick your tongue out after pushing the end through the loop, revealing the knotted cherry stem to Shuri. She removes her glasses, folds them, and sets them next to her cherry-free drink. Eyes filled with fire. “Stop looking at me like that.” You could sense a level of hesitation from the woman. Behave wasn't a no; it simply indicated she was attempting to get you to back off since her resolve was slipping.
You roll your eyes as you remove the stem from your tongue and place it on a napkin. “You know you’re practically undressing me with your eyes.” You could see a glimmer of hunger in her features, and you knew you had her right there.
“Mmm, I’m not the one showing off tongue tricks,” Shuri smirks, sipping her drink.
Before you can say anything, a breathless voice breaks the tension between you. “Shuri!” your sister and two of the girls had returned from the dancefloor. “Scoot over. I’m taking a five-minute break.” Izara says. You can see the sweat on her forehead. You start to shift over to make room for everyone, and you’re forced to be pressed against Shuri, depleting the distance.
Upon their arrival, Shuri redirects her attention to her best friend, “Hey, Zar. I was just asking your sister why she wasn’t dancing.” Glancing at you with a smug look, she was enjoying this.
Izara nods, “I told her she needed to get down there and have fun. It’s been five weeks, and the best way to get over someone is to get under someone new.”
As you drum your fingers across the glass table top, a sigh escapes your lips. I’m trying, you think. "I'm not keen on hooking up with strangers," you answer instead. You were discrete with your words. Sneaking a quick look over at Shuri when you say it, you find her already staring back at you. Her expression has now become unreadable.
Izara sighs. Her sole motive for inviting you was for you to have fun; she probably believed you weren't having a great time, but your attention was attracted to something you didn't need to search for. You wouldn’t tell her that, though. "Oh, Bast, you need more liquor." She approaches a waiter and orders a round of shots.
As soon as the waiter places the shot glasses on the table, all eyes turn to you. You reached forward, grabbed one shot, pinched the lime, and tossed back the tequila, promptly sucking the lime between your teeth and dropping it into the empty shot glass. "That's my girl," Izara says, clapping.
The five-minute breaks last a lot longer than five minutes. Your poor sister was utterly unaware that she was cock-blocking. She and Shuri were having a casual conversation about who knows. You weren't paying attention. Maybe she senses you getting restless beside her, but you feel a hand rest on your leg. Shuri continues to converse with Izara while her fingertips brush your left thigh. You let out a sharp, deep breath before composing yourself. The soft touch riles you up. Shuri taunts you by not moving her hand any higher. She rests it there, stroking your skin, knowing it’s driving you crazy.
Shuri is winning this game you're playing together, but you have a plan.
When your sister returns to the main level, she attempts to get you to accompany her, and you make up an excuse, promising to do so after you use the restroom. When you and Shuri are alone again, you slap her hand and glare at her. “You should move your hand if you’re going to start something you can’t finish. I’m not in the mood to be teased.”
As you get up to leave, you grab a second shot, downing it before smiling. It's a mind-numbing high that blocks all of your feelings except lust. "I'll be really upset if this night doesn't end with me in your bed." You whisper, walking away, not bothering to wait for Shuri’s reaction. There was no point in playing games when you wanted her, and she clearly wanted you. That’s why you knew she would follow you.
The bathroom is located down a dim corridor with purple fluorescent lights. You're walking down the hall when you hear quick footsteps behind you. A hand catches your waist, pressing you against a solid body. Away from prying eyes, Shuri holds you against her, moving your hair to expose the side of your neck, “Do you want to dance with me after?” She speaks with hushed tones.
Mission completed.
You shook your head and turned to face her. "I wasn't here to dance." Dancing was a waste of time because neither of you wanted to do it. Every second more you spent in this club was a moment wasted when she could be inside of you.
Shuri paused for a moment, her eyes clouded with longing. "You realize what you're asking of me." Your mind wanders to Izara. All the red flags were flying in your head. This was your sister's closest friend and her most recent boss. Shuri felt off-limits for some reason. But you swiftly block out all of that.
“Don’t complicate things. I wouldn’t be here asking you to bring me home and fuck me in the middle of a club if I didn’t,” you said. You've teased and flirted with the Queen all night, and now nothing stops you from ending the night in bed with her. “No kissing, no intimacy, it’s just sex.” You assure her.
“Fuck, you feel so good.” You gasp as Shuri thrusts back inside, making your body tremble in response. It’s one of the many compliments you’ve given her through the night as she takes you further into euphoric bliss.
Maybe it's because you haven't had sex in what seems like an eternity, but the slide in feels like heaven. The first thrust has you seeing stars, and every move since then has you letting out an endless stream of moans. You were on your knees, Shuri kneeling behind you, going at unrelenting speed.
You're both high on adrenaline and lust, making your body hum and your head spin—sweaty bodies work together as your heartbeats syncopate in a rhythmic acceleration. You can't recall the last time you felt so attuned to another person, so alive.
Her hands are all over you, one of her arms reaching from behind to support your upper body, cupping your chest while her fingers tease your nipple. You figure the mind of a genius is used to focusing on multiple things at once because despite her fast thrust, the fingers on Shuri’s other hand stroke along your clit, gently knowing what you need, where to touch you, and how to touch you.
“Harder, harder- fuck, don’t stop.” You reach around to find Shuri’s hips and hold them, following her movements in an attempt to feel her closer. “Such a bossy girl.” Shuri pants but drives into you with more force.
She eventually removes the arm that has been holding you up and pushing you forward. At this angle, she's hitting the spot inside you that has you unable to speak, trapped in an endless repeat of pleasure as the sensation causes your skin to prickle.
Collapsing onto the bed, you cushion your head on the pillow, and your back arches beautifully. “Fuck Shuri. C-close,” you stutter, your voice weakly coming out between your pants. The way Shuri was easily manipulating your body to take her deeper made you want to scream. "I can't wait to see you come looking for me." Shuri breathes and snaps her hips.
"You're going to look gorgeous." She goes on, talking you through it. "Should take a picture and put it on the front cover of every magazine. Everyone can see how pretty you are when you’re getting fucked so good.”
Shuri's comments fill your head with filthy thoughts, even though you've never considered yourself an exhibitionist. Imagine one of the world's most famous models being railed by the Queen of Wakanda on a magazine cover. You two are certainly an obscene sight. “Should I let everybody see what a good girl you are, or is this only for me?”
"Only you," you answer thoughtlessly. Your mind was only centered on pleasure now. As you inhale sharply, the heat inside of you grows, and your body is frozen in ecstasy. Your eyes slip back as your stomach muscles contract in anticipation of eventually feeling that relief. Your eyes widen, your brows rise, your breath stutters, and your eyes close tightly. So tight, and you’re coming. It's quiet for a few moments, and then you're screaming Shuri's name, your voice breaking, your nails sinking into the covers.
As you move your hips back, little gasps escape your lips. “You’re perfect. It feels so good. Want to keep fucking you.” Her words and tone are desperate as she pants, grinding into you, using the friction and pressure to reach her orgasm. You could get off just from the sound of her moans alone.
When Shuri pulls out, you fall into the satin sheets and turn over, sticky and satisfied, staring at the ceiling. You take a few moments to collect your breath and come down from your climax. You sense the bed shifting as Shuri fades from view.
On shaky legs, you stand up to scan the room for your belongings. There was no need for closeness or caressing. Both of you agreed to just sex, and you needed to get home as soon as possible. Your top is lying right in front of the door. That was the first thing to go.
“I’ll have a member of the Dora escort you home.” Shuri comes back into the room from the bathroom, a tee shirt and boxers on now while you’re still struggling to locate your underwear.
“Are you crazy?” You pull the straps of your top on your shoulders and try to situate your breast inside. “I’m not even supposed to be here.” You whisper-shout. The reality was settling in now that the fire inside you had been put out. Izara would most likely interrogate you in the morning, thinking you went home with someone and you had time to think of a lie once you were home.
“Imagine going to my mother's house with the Dora Milaje. - have you seen my panties?” Her head wanders sideways, and you follow her gaze to discover your underwear on top of the lampshade on the bedside table.
They undoubtedly landed there in her haste to strip you naked. Shuri takes them and hands them to you. "You're so messy," you mutter as you take them from her, leaning down to slip them on.
"You weren't complaining," Shuri chuckles. There goes that smug tone.
Before leaving, you get dressed, put on your heels, and turn to Shuri. “This never happened. I was never here." You're both consenting adults, but having your sister in the mix complicates the situation. It was acceptable for the one time you both received much-needed relief, but it couldn't happen again for the sake of preserving normalcy. The elder remains silent. "Did you hear what I said?"
A confused sound leaves her lips. “I can’t hear anything. I'm here by myself.”
You roll your eyes and walk out the door. That’s the end of that.
When you’re showered in bed and reflecting on tonight‘s activities, it's later when your kimoyo beads ring.
It’s Shuri.
“Yes?” you answer, ensuring not to disturb your mom. It was late.
“I just wanted to make sure you got home safe.” you knew her concern was genuine because Izara would never forgive her if something happened to you.
“Yes, I did. Thank you.”
She hesitates for a second, staring at you in contemplation before asking, “So, are we going to talk about it?” There’s humor in her voice.
Not this. “Didn’t we agree that I wasn’t with you?”
"I'm not addressing that," Shuri responds immediately. "There is something far more intriguing on your lower back," she taunts, winking.
Your lips form an unconscious gasp. “Shut up!” The first and only tattoo you’ve ever received was in Paris after your first fashion week. You and a few other models get tattoos while feeling celebratory and possibly under the influence of a bit too much champagne. A tribal butterfly is permanently affixed to the center of your lower back. "No, we can't discuss it since you've never seen it." You remind her of this, your face heated. You can't believe you overlooked that.
"I completely understand." She responds, but the way she looks at you and bites her lip suggests otherwise.
Everything about her was enticing. You decide to end the call, “Goodnight, Shuri.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
You went to bed vowing never to do it again, a commitment tainted by dishonesty because it happened again.

Prince Justin and Princess Beatrice in some kind of modern au, but instead of being lovers they are foced-to-be-coworkers (almost technically friends) dynamic.
They don't exactly hate each other no, it would be too strong of a word, it's just they're not really the biggest fans of having to tolerate the other's presence in a work environment.
They don't really have a choice, being two people from big businesses corporations, making deals and small negotiations once in a while. This slowly emerges into the funniest situation in the both companies' history.
Justin rushes into the negotiation room two hours late looking like he just had hit by a truck and Beatrice says him to fuck off in the worst form possible because he cannot just sneak a kitten under his coat she has an allergy goddamit. They handle the negotiation ten minutes later.
Beatrice sends Justin a document to edit and Justin returns it, edited and renamed to "the way to scam this losers for one hundred thousand euros." Beatrice sighs.
People from everywhere try to "arrange them" every now and then and they are so SINCERELY disgusted by this idea they look at every single person suggesting it like they have gone mad. Not in "enemies to lovers" way. They're dead serious.
Beatrice brags about horses she keeps near their house to do some horse riding and Justin keeps suspiciously quiet cause the guy is TERRIFIED of horses. Unironically, the amount of martial arts this man went through up to his adulthood and he has never been close to a horse. Beatrice would utilise this knowledge if she knew.
They would caught each other sitting in the open Google Doc at three am and then process to argue about stuff in a passive-agressive manner through text only to exit the document with two sentences written (it ends with "and all this idiots can go to hell...")
They make fan of each other on their twitter private accounts because they can. Which is funny because Beatrice does not really has a private account, she just refuses to have an official verified account and Justin actually has an official verified account but posts to his private 99% of the time.
One night they decide that if one of them would be too tired of this business shit, they would run away to wildness, but in different directions, Justin would go to the forest and Beatrice would climb up to the mountains, so they won't stable at each other.
They would not call each other friends by any of the matters but technically. That's what they are.

You know what? I’m finally ready to write that meta about why Okoye being stood down was so hypocritical. A nation that prides itself on tradition held a grudge and punished one of their leaders for following tradition that was a safeguard for the throne they hold in such high esteem.
Imagine making Okoye feel like family for so many years and then tossing her aside for your ‘real’ family, because that’s what happened to her when she was sent down for her failure (even though it was Shuri’s choice to go with the Talokanil).
Okoye was trained as a Dora from a young age. Sworn to protect the throne (no matter who sits on it), and the Elders and Queen Mother threw that back in her face. Tradition only matters to the upper echelon of Wakanda when it suits them. They’re still a monarchy and everyone else, regardless of rank, loyalty, and service, is disposable. Okoye included.
Also, because this has been annoying the ever living fuck out of me: I HATED the instances where Okoye’s physical appearance was made fun of. Calling her ashy and a bald-headed demon for laughs? Umm no. It’s on the nose. Dark skin Black woman being made fun of because how she looks by a Black man and an actual teenager? Fuck off with that.
She was Wakanda Forever’s punching bag. She was orphaned by the Queen Mother’s death, too. And she was not given the chance to reconcile before her murder. The only people who showed her respect were Ayo; Aneka; Ross; Shuri; Nakia; and Attuma (whom she had brutal bouts with). Don’t @ me. I’m offended for her.

Shuri stares in anger and jealousy, seeing Riri and you snuggle up to each other while doing a project that you and Shuri were supposed to be working on together. She rolls her eyes, turning her chair away from you two and focusing on her part of the project. Okoye was complaining about how her new spear was malfunctioning, so you and Shuri were trying to see what the problem was.
Well, more like Shuri was trying to see what the problem was since the two lovers behind her were too caught up in each other and giggling too loud for her comfort, but she tried to ignore it and focus on the thing in front of her.
She looked through all the parts and finally found out what the problem was: the cord connected to one of the gears was stuck. She just needed a screw to get it out. Shuri turned to you and said, "Hey, n/n, can you pass me a screwdriver?" She tried to ask.
But you were too busy giggling with Riri to notice that she asked you a question: "Y/N!" She asked a little louder, but you still didn't hear her "Y/N!" You and Riri jumped at her loud voice and turned around to face her. "Oh, sorry, did you need something?" Riri asked.
She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. "I wasn't asking you," she said with a slight jab in her voice. "Shuri! ungabi luhlaza!" You scolded, crossing your own arms, "Oh? You heard that, but I have to call your name multiple times for you to listen."You sighed and uncrossed your arms.
"Okay, I'm sorry. What did you need?" You asked.
"As I was asking, I needed a screwdriver since I'm basically done with Okoye's spear." Your eyes went wide in surprise. "Wait, you did it without me?!" You asked slightly upset, "Well, if you were actually paying attention to your part of the project, I wouldn't have had to do it myself now, screwdriver, please," she asked, holding her hand out.
You slowly got one from on top of your desk and walked over, putting it in her palm, and she turned around, not sparing you a single glance, leaving a slight pain in your chest.
After finishing the spear, she got up and went to find Okoye, leaving the couple alone in the lab. After finding Okoye and giving her spear back to her, she leaned her back against the wall and slid down, sitting there for a few minutes just rekindling her thoughts until a rich, elegant voice came into your ears.
This wasn't the first time you basically blew her off for Riri leaving her to do a project; it was basically like you forgot about her every time she wanted to hang out with you; you just happened to already have something planned with Riri that very same day, which hurt her to the core.
But her feelings for you never faded; in fact, they grew stronger each day, but she knew that you two would never happen since you were already happy with somebody else. Even though it hurt, she still wanted her best friend to be happy.
"What's the matter, child?" She looked up to see the Queen standing there in all her glory, looking down at her daughter, her hands gracefully behind her back. "Mother," she said, quickly standing up and sitting since she was literally just sitting on the floor. She chuckled at her daughter's goofy nature.
"It's nothing, just thinking something over," she said, shrugging her shoulders, but as if she read her mind, she could tell Shuri wasn't telling the truth. "It's about y/n, isn't it?" Shuri's eyes widened at how fast she figured it out.
"How did you?" She smiled and took out her hands. "Isithandwa me and y/n's mother found out the moment we saw how you would always glance at her? You were definitely a teenager in love." Shuri looked down in sheer embarrassment. "But that doesn't really matter anymore; she's with Riri," she said, her shoulders shrinking down.
She patted her head. "The future isn't set in stone. No offense to Riri, but you and y/n were destined to be together ever since you were born. She might not know it now, but give her time, and she just might understand." Shuri slowly nodded, taking in her words. She walked away to attend to her duties just as you turned the corner.
"Oh, there you are! I've been looking for you!" She exclaimed, jogging up to the princess, "Well, here I am." She smiled, but Shuri could see that you were twiddling your fingers, and she knew that you only did that when you were nervous.
What's up, y/n?" She asked now, getting nervous. She obviously didn't want to hear anything about you and Riri, but she didn't know if it was important or not.
"Well, you know about that small festival you wanted to take me to next week?" She nodded her head, remembering about asking her, and she told you that she would clear her schedule.
"Yeah, what about it?" You looked behind you, and she moved her head to see Riri standing against the wall.
"I'm not going to be able to go because I'm going to be spending that day with Riri," you said.
Every emotion in her body shut down; the only thing she saw was red. "So let me get this straight." Shuri started her face getting darker and her jaw clenching.
"You basically want to ditch me at an event that we planned weeks prior and that you promised me we would go to together just to be with her?" You slowly nodded your head. It took her everything to not punch the wall next to your head.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Now she was completely done and was not going to hold back any longer.
You jumped back, and her sudden rage—you've never seen Shuri like this. Sure, she might have her fits, but they were never this bad. I know it's bad, but I promise I'll be free next time."
"No, I don't. There is no next time. This is like the 14th time you blew me off, and for what huh, we've haven't hung out in months, and when I wanted to, you always blew out plans away for her.
"Does our friendship not matter anymore?!" Shuri could feel tears cloud her vision with each word.
Tears started to form in your eyes as you tried to reason with her.
"Of course it matters, Shuri," she said, but she only scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"It obviously doesn't if you do this continuously. I can't do this anymore. I'm done." She walks past you, bumping your shoulder. You tried to grab her arm, but she just ripped away.
"Shuri!" She didn't answer, and she just kept walking away. Riri came up behind you and wrapped her arms around your waist, resting her head on your shoulder, as you broke down, feeling your entire world rip apart.

A/N: As stated this is my sorry excuse for angst. Some of yall are GIFTED. Because yall be making me cry and shit! Lol
You remained still as you heard Ayo announce that you were home. You never thought you'd be back in Wakanda so soon. The phone call was brief but unpleasant. The king, T'Challa had passed on. The man you called your brother. The man who helped you in your dark times. The only one besides Queen Ramonda who understood your reasoning to leave Wakanda behind in the first place. He had requested you be there for the funeral. To console his mother and sister. Giving the Queen words of comfort was easy but Shuri? She will most likely shut you out immediately. After all, you didn't leave on good terms with the princess.
"Y/N. We have arrived." Ayo spoke softly. She always treated you with respect. Even after falling out with your sister Okoye and your ex. Okoye was another thought that caused your stomach to drop. You haven't seen or spoken to her since you left 2 years ago. It was time to face them all as you felt the ship land. You slowly stood as the door opened revealing the soft smile of the Queen and the scowl of the princess. As you step off the aircraft Queen Ramonda was the first to welcome you with a tight hug.
"Thank you for coming back my child." She smiled before you gave a small bow. You made no move to hug Shuri as you spoke to the pair. More so the queen.
"My condolences to you Queen mother. Princess." You locked eyes with Shuri for a second before turning back to her mother. "I hope to offer comfort for your loss." She gave a short nod before motioning to Aneka to show you your room.
“She didn’t have to come back mother. We don’t need her here.”, You winced at the malice in Shuri’s hushed voice before the queen called out to you once more.
"I will be there to speak with you soon Y/N. It's good to have you home." She said as you followed the Dora to your old room. It was still the way you left it. Nothing had been moved out of place.
"I was expecting my room to have been changed into a place where Shuri throws her old projects in." You said and Aneka shook her head.
"Both T'Challa and the Queen insisted nothing be touched in case you ever decided to come back. You ran your fingers over the dresser before biting the bullet. "How's Okoye?" She let out a small sigh before giving you a wide smile.
"She's okay. She was supposed to accompany the family upon your arrival but asked me to come instead." You gave a short laugh as you sat on your bed looking up at the ceiling. "Sounds like her. Thank you Aneka." The Dora dismissed herself as you began to go through your bag, ugly memories flooding back, filling you with sadness.
// Flashback //
"What are you on about now Y/N?" Shuri asked you with her face buried in the sequence before her. Ever since Killmonger attacked a couple of years back she's been stuck in the lab doing any and everything she could possibly think of. Except get good rest and actually eat a meal.
"Shuri you haven't left this lab in weeks. You have to rest for awhile sthandwa." You said in a soft voice but she waved you off. You were trying not to get upset as you watched her speed around the lab. "Shuri I'm serious. Your mother is worried about you. And T'Challa wishes to see his sister more." While it was true you also wished you could tell her the full truth. The truth is T'Challa now has an undisclosed illness. He doesn't want to tell Shuri because of how she'll react. All you can do is try to push her to spend all the time she can with him. As neither you, his mother or he knows when the time will come. "They can easily walk in here if they want to see me so badly."
"After everything that has happened don't you think you should be with them more? Killmonger? Thanos? You all lost so many years after that. Goes to show anything could happen and you all should spend quality time." You said and she froze before throwing her tablet down on the table.
"And how would you know? You didn't get snapped away!"
"No but I had to deal with the loss of all of you! I had to live here while you all were gone! Don't make this seem like I was affected. I just want to help!" You shouted as she was in your face now.
"I don't need help Y/N! Why try to fix what isn't broken? Everything is fine. Everyone is fine. We don't need a family therapy session." She spat and you dropped your shoulders in defeat.
"I'm just saying anything can happen, Shuri." You spoke as she turned her back to continue working. You looked up at the ceiling to keep the tears from falling down your face. You didn't want to tell her why you pushed so hard for them to spend time. Not during a fight. But it was now or never. "I'm leaving Wakanda." She spun on her heels as you stared at the floor not wanting to see her reaction.
"This is not a time for jokes Y/N." She said and your eyes found hers. Disbelief floating around her orbs and you bit your lip. Realization crossed her features when you didn't respond and you swore you saw a flash of anger quickly replace it. "Seriously. You're leaving me." You didn't want her to think that way and opened your mouth to speak before the door to the lab opened as Okoye entered.
"You two can be heard all the way down the hall. Can you just make up and relax?" She questioned before looking between you. You avoided Shuri's stare as she burned holes through your face. "What is going on?"
"Go ahead Y/N. Tell her." You sadly sighed as you were put on the spot. You had planned it out how to let everyone down gently. Including Okoye. "Tell her! What are you scared of your big sister now?" You tilted your head at her outburst before Okoye stood in front of you.
"I'm leaving. Leaving Wakanda for awhile." You mumbled and she went rigid as you searched her face for a reaction. Anything. But it seems she was still in her Dora Milaje state as the princess was present. It hurt.
"Since you're leaving, Okoye will see you out." Ouch
"Shuri-"
"You've said enough now, get out. Go enjoy your life. You won't be missed here." You turned to your sister for help but she stood tall without as much as a word. You scoffed at the two before exiting the lab with haste not bothering to look back.
// End of Flashback //
And you haven't turned back until now. A soft knock interrupted your thoughts and you turned to see Queen Ramonda with a smile on her lips. She scammed your face and could tell you were having an internal battle with yourself. Without a word she pulled you into a hug rubbing your back with words of comfort. "Everything will be alright Y/N."
"I'm supposed to be comforting you remember?" You laughed and she rubbed your arms.
"I think it is best if you talk to her. Maybe it will do you both some good."
"Some good? She's probably going to ignore me until I force her to talk. After our last fight, I'm sure she doesn't want anything to do with me."
"I beg to differ. She still isn't aware of the reason you left. Her brother never got the chance to tell her." She said and you felt your body freeze up. She still just thinks you just up and left. You gave a small nod as she kissed the top of your head before moving to leave you to your thoughts. You couldn't find the strength to move from your spot as you tried to think of what to say. 'Hey I'm sorry I left but you needed to hang out with your brother before he died?' Sounds like the perfect icebreaker. Pushing your braids out of your face you gathered your courage before making your way to the lab. Your palms started to sweat as you balled your fists trying to calm your nerves. Upon entering you lowered your eyes to the ground, hearing all the commotion around you. Then you heard her.
"It's simple really. But I'm sure you tried your best." She spoke to a scientist before she turned to walk the other way. Her being froze when she met your gaze and you bit the inside of your cheek. "Is there something you need?"
"No I'm just-"
"Then you have no reason to be in my lab." She spat and you sighed. She's still mad. Why wouldn't she be?
"Princess if you just hear me out." You tried to reason with her before she dropped her things and turned to look at you. Memories of your last fight came rushing back but you held your ground, refusing to be intimidated. She grew taller and now stood over you but you had a promise to keep.
"There's nothing for me to hear. You said what you had to say the last time you were in here. Now leave." She said with authority in her voice, leaving you a bit irritated. "Now you're hard of hearing? I said leave."
"I am not one of your scientists, Shuri. You will NOT speak to me as such. So stop acting like a child and let's talk." You retorted, dropping all formalities as she held an unreadable look in her eyes.
"Leave us." She said in a low voice before all of the scientists scurried out of the room. "You have some nerve."
"Oh I have plenty. But I made a promise to your brother to be there for you and Queen Ramonda. And I plan to keep it whether you like it or not." Your words held her attention and she stood a few steps away from you. You held her stare before another familiar voice spoke out to you.
"I can hear you both all the way down the hall. Can we not talk in a civilized manner without going at each other's throats?" Okoye scorned and you lowered your gaze to the floor. Even after not seeing her for years you still felt intimidated by the older woman.
"We were just talking." Your words came out mumbled and Shuri scoffed.
"Now you're afraid of your older sister? What happened to all that nerve Y/N? You had so much of it when you got up and left. Left your home. My mother and brother. Okoye. You left me." She spat in your face and you swear you could hear your heart beating through your ears.
"But I had a good reason. You'd know that if you'd just listen to me." Shuri threw up her hands as she turned away from you. She was done with the conversation and won’t even listen to your reasoning.
"T'Challa wanted to give everything he could to everyone before he passed. Nakia, Queen Ramonda, you! He chose to suffer in silence so he could make that happen." You were trying so hard to keep it together in front of them. "His last hope for me. He wanted me to finish my education back in the states. Finish where I left off before he became king. He felt bad for me having to pause my education. He wanted me to make something of myself and then come back here to stand by your side! I was supposed to graduate BEFORE he died." You had tears rolling down your cheeks as you let out all the pain you held in your body. "You think you were the only one who was hurting?! He told me he was sick and to keep it to myself until he told you himself. I was going to tell you anyway but you were just so angry and unreasonable that day I said I was just leaving. I didn't want to tell you while we were fighting! I didn't want to leave but I respected T'Challa's wishes because he treated me like I was part of the family."
"Y/N maybe we should-
"And you! After everything I begged you to help me figure out how to talk to her before I left. But you kept saying the princess had things to do or the princess is busy. The princess did not need distractions. You never understood how I felt! You were always in Dora mode! Why do you think I don't talk to you!" You screamed as she stood tall but you could see tears starting to form. Her mask was failing.
"I didn't need the General of the Dora Milaje to tell me what to do! Bendifuna usisi wam omdala!"(I needed my older sister!) The words slipped past your lips in Xhosa and Okoye let the tear fall down her face. "I needed my sister. I needed you! And you both pushed me away." The silence that engulfed the room became too much for you to handle so you quickly thought of a way to run and hide. Something you were used to doing. You wiped your face before fixing your composure. "I'm sorry for bothering you princess."
You turned on your heels leaving the two in silence as you went back to your room. You walked over to the balcony and leaned on the railing. The wind breezed past you and you let your eyes close to take in the comforting feeling. You felt your body sway a little as you thought back to simpler times. Times where you and Shuri would pull limitless pranks on T'Challa. Having dinner with the family. Okoye giving you sisterly advice. Your first kiss with Shuri. Letting out a sigh you felt a presence behind you and turned to see Queen Ramonda standing with her hands intertwined.
"My apologies for interrupting you dear." She smiled as she joined you outside. "Ayo informed me of your conversation with Shuri."
"Wouldn't call it a conversation. More of a screaming match. And I did most of the screaming." You said as you found yourself in her motherly embrace. "I didn't mean to yell. It's like something snapped and I couldn't hold it all in anymore."
"It's alright child. I'm not angry with you. Honestly I'm happy you let it out. Give Shuri some things to think about."
"Queen mother. Maybe it was a mistake coming back." You whispered and she gave a soft smile.
"There are no mistakes. But if you feel as if this is not for you, I'll get the jet prepared to take you back home." She rubbed your arms and you shook your head.
"I promised T'Challa I'd give my support. To both you and the princess. It hurts, yes. But I won't break that promise. It's the last thing he wished for me." She gave a small nod. Her silence was deafening but deep down you knew she understood. She understood everything. “I’ll stay. But I’ll make sure to be out of the way. I won’t cause any more trouble.” Ramonda gave a short scoff as she hugged you tighter. A familiar warmth washed over you as you brought your own arms around the Queen. A warmth you refuse to let go of a second time.
