I took a break halfway through a sentence in my interview prep for tomorrow to make this because I was listening to music and my entire brain suddenly screamed "THE SPIRITLOOMS ARE OVER HIS SLEEVES" at me and. well. I couldn't exactly not do something with that when it all fits so perfectly, now could I?

an important part of the qpr heromix agenda to me is that it went unresolved within canon

the potential was there, the feelings were there, they never talked about it because they are both, in their hearts, creatures of duty and loyalty and they had responsibilities they had to attend to before they could let themselves sit and talk about something that would be just about them

they never got a conversation that we didn't see about it. they got "Because I've been thinking you could help me and my friends with the Rose!" - come with me when this is over, join my fight, let's stay together and share a duty - and they got "There must have been at least one good thing?" "You." - there was light in the darkness and you were there to watch my back and looking back you're the one thing that was never, ever bad - and they got "They mean the world to me" and "I'll miss you" - I wanted to come with you, I would have stayed if I could - and they got nothing else

he died. they ran out of time. they both knew but it went unresolved. it's a key part of the dynamic, to me. that they would have talked about it if they had more time but they didn't get that time

(it's about the aching question of what if? what if Jaania's ice hadn't stolen years away, what if they'd been a little less selfless, what if they'd had the opportunity, had a little more time? what if, just maybe, the world had been a little bit kinder?)

every time I start to worry that the qpr heromix agenda is colouring my characterisation in my writing I go back to reference against canon and every single time I get hit with no, I'm not exaggerating anything, they're just Like That, they literally just Love Each Other So Much on screen, I am entirely within parameters

#dragonfable #Tomix starts his goodbye asking Yashta to take care of the hero and ends it addressing them specifically #his LAST WORDS are ''I'll miss you'' to THEM SPECIFICALLY #There's various thing I could point to with the hero but the one that immediately comes to mind #is that Tomix is the only person who showed up BOTH times they tested that experimental potion on Hero's Hearts Day #yes we never actually see him in AdventureFriends Edelia but the dialogue clearly indicates he was THERE #he's the ONLY one the hero's dreaming mind put there twice and IF SK'AAR HADN'T BEEN MESSING WITH THINGS HE WOULD'VE BEEN THEIR PARTNER #I feel like I've made a post along these lines before #QPR Heromix Agenda

We know of at least three timelines in which the Hero of Falconreach and Tomix Danao both exist and we only know for sure that they met and became friends in one of them and I think about that sometimes

#Dragonfable #The three timelines are DF MQ and AQW btw #We know that the MQ Hero and T9 never met (sad)#and it's ~unclear~ if AQW!Tomix has met the AQW counterpart of the DF Hero #because we know that they exist and that the AQW Hero is a distinct entity #Tomix makes no mention or reference to the Hero of Falconreach in his dialogue as far as I can tell #but his adventures in Ravenloss ARE referenced and have a link to DF button #so we can deduce it PROBABLY went similarly to Book 1 even with the obvious timeline differences so they PROBABLY know each other #but it's not certain #QPR Heromix Agenda

#I'LL GET THERE. I'LL GET THERE EVENTUALLY #the problem is. you see. that even with the framework of a qpr the premise of ''two people are in a committed partnership now yay!''#just doesn't grab me enough to produce words #I need a PLOT and a REASON and I do think most of my fix its have them talk about it post reunion but I usually don't write that bit #because to me the natural end of the story I'm telling falls before that #if I ever do actually get them together in a qpr it'll need an entire character study before that I think

I've poked fun at Tomix telling the hero Literally Nothing about Azaveyr when they went to visit before but in fairness the hero told him Literally Nothing about the whole Orbs situation and the prophecy for the entire Book 1 Tomix Saga, so I guess that's only fair

Can’t stop thinking about “Tomix! You are busy, I know. You are always busy! But... I need your help.” and then, years later, “Let's say you banish him... what will you do after it? Because I've been thinking you could help me and my friends with the Rose!”

Look me in the eye and tell me that this doesn’t have the vibes of the hero having been thinking about asking Tomix to join them in their adventures for quite a while

I was thinking about my enjoyment of whump and hurt/comfort and I realised something about part of why I enjoy the Hero & Tomix dynamic so much

They've both got the general vibes of characters where you've gotta go "If I break a few limbs and drug one of you and lock you in a room, maybe then you'll finally talk about your feelings" (as is so appealing for lovers of whump & hurt/comfort)

except they've been through so much in actual canon that their specific vibes have become "we would immediately word vomit about our feelings at each other if the world would please stop ending for five minutes"

...so, depending on what turns out to be going on in AdventureFriends 2, is entirely possible that the hero has had two dreams where Tomix is meant to be there but vanishes and his absence is one of the first signs of everything going off-balance and wrong

...do we think that says anything about their emotional state re: his death?
