Here's hoping Instagram doesn't threaten to delete me again today for the cartoon sperm in the artwork. If so, thanks for all the love and support 🙏 This reissue is pretty much flawless in every way, and I've come to expect pretty high end product form VMP since they take this stuff pretty seriously. This was the last QOTSA album I really liked and it was such a crusher from front to back. It marked the last album where I would consider them a hard rock band and Dave Grohl's drumming made it even punchier and heavier than it ever could have been without him. I definitely miss the old days of gettin rocked by this band, but having this one properly mastered and professionally reissued will scratch the itch. Crate Digger’s Corner…by DJ Musically Rich

Here is the sixth part to my 2017 list. For those that missed the earlier parts (and haven’t taken a look at it yet), I’m giving a quick list of albums that I heard from 2017 in 7-10 albums at a time. There will be a few more parts to the list over the coming weeks. I may do a listening to some of the ones that I know I like, but want to revisit, and use that as an opportunity to review some of those more deeply (If there are any you see that you would particularly like to see a review of, leave a note). This list does not include reissues, live material or compilations.

Artist- Album (general genre)- and brief description

Oh Sees- Smote Reverser (psych rock)- John Dwyer continues to push his band to what feels like must be getting close to the breaking point (in the best way) of his mix of psych/prog/hard rock. Guitars fly all over the place as the band completely delivers on one of their best albums to date.

Lupe Fiasco- Drogas Light (rap)- Lupe Fiasco puts out a new album with a lot of guest artists. While the album is solid overall, he gets lost a little bit in the overall swarm of guests.

Gorillaz- Humanz (electro pop)-It is a wonderful mix of electronic, hip hop, R&B, amongst other styles. The Gorillaz put together an album that runs as smoothly as possible in working together song-to-song, despite guest artists (and often multiple guests) on each track. The only knock I have is there weren’t as many songs that get caught in your head driving you to repeat listens, which it really needs to be fully appreciated.

 Willie Nelson- God’s Problem Child (country) Willie continues his string of great albums that he has been putting out in this most recent era of his music making (since 2000 roughly). Certainly a must for fans of Willie, but also for fans of the younger outlaw country stars including Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson, Margo Price, Tyler Childers, etc. A highlight of the album is the title song where Willie is joined by legends Tony Joe White and Leon Russell, and also the aforementioned younger musician Jamey Johnson.

 Queens Of The Stone Age- Villains (hard rock) QOTSA follow up their best album (Like Clockwork) with an album that continues to grow on me each time I hear it. I think maybe the worst thing about this album is that it had the unfortunate challenge of following up their best. It is a very good album that stands on its own, and the production from Mark Ronson does not pull them toward a different sound.

 Robert Plant- Carry Fire (rock)- The former Led Zeppelin lead singer puts out a second album with his current backing band, Sensational Space Shifters. They mine the Middle Eastern sounds that Zeppelin looked at around the “Physical Graffiti” album, but with a little less hard rock bombast than his former band had. This is another excellent album from this band and Plant continues to put out more quality music since 2000.

Here are 6 albums I heard in 2017, there will be more from this list coming in the future, and this isn’t necessarily a ranking, just in the order that I was writing them down. I hope you enjoy and happy hunting!

Oktober 1991 auf den Markt. Ein paar Wochen nach Nevermind. Ich finde es ist Soundgardens härtestes Album. Nicht zuletzt, weil die komplexen Taktarten, Geschwindigkeit der Songs und die volle Cornell-Bandbreite dermaßen verrückt sind, dass es wohl 2 - 3 Anläufe braucht um richtig zu zünden. Chrissy würde sagen: Isn "Grower" Junge. ACHTUNG #nerdattack Hier sind nur ein paar Facts, um auf der nächsten Party DER Hengst zu sein. • Matt Cameron ist auch Schlagzeuger bei Pearl Jam und spielte die ersten Live-Shows bei QOTSA. • Von 1989 bis 1990 spielte Jason Everman den Bass. Jason Everman war 1989 auch der zweite Gitarrist bei Nirvana und spielte die Bleach-Tour. Er ist auf dem Cover zu sehen, hat aber das Album nicht eingespielt. • Ben Shepherd war früher Roadie bei Nirvana. • Kim Thayil wirkte auch bei Probot (Dave Grohl) mit. • 1992 spielten Soundgarden die Use Your Illusion-Tour zusammen mit Faith No More (und G´n´R, is klar). • Das Album wurde von Terry Date produziert.
