How Long Do Maine Coon Cats Live? – arianamaincoonkittens
If you’re a lover of furry, endearing felidae friends, then seeing “Maine coon kittens for sale” is guaranteed to make your heart flutter. These magnificent creatures, with their bushy tails and tufted ears, are known for their rugged good looks. But what’s even more important for potential cat adopters, just like you, is understanding their lifespan. So, how long do Maine Coon cats really live?
Before we delve into the core of this subject, let’s take a moment to appreciate this breed’s history. The Maine Coon, with its unique and distinctive appearance, is one of the oldest natural breeds in North America, specifically native to the state of Maine, where it has remained a beloved symbol of the region. Intriguingly, their actual origins continue to house mystery, with various tales involving seafarers, royal pets, and even crossbreeding with wild animals. Though their past is steeped in lore and speculation, one thing is sure – they’ve been winning hearts over for centuries!
Now, let’s approach the main question: how long do Maine Coon cats live? These felines typically enjoy a lifespan ranging between 10-13 years. Nevertheless, it’s not uncommon to find Maine Coons that have comfortably sauntered past this range, reaching up to 16, even 20 years of age! In fact, the Guinness World Records includes a Maine Coon that lived a staggering 26 years!
Several factors affect this spectrum of lifespan. Nutrition and diet, healthcare, indoor vs. outdoor environment, genetics, and even the love and affection they receive, all play crucial roles.
Proper nutrition, with a balanced cat diet, is key to ensuring their longevity. Avoid cheap grocery store cat food, choosing instead specifically formulated cat food recommended by your vet or cat breeder. A well-nourished Maine Coon is undeniably a healthier, happier one.
Regular check-ups with your veterinarian are equally important. A yearly examination will keep track of their health and can help detect and treat any emerging health issues sooner, potentially increasing their lifespan.
While these cats can enjoy roaming the great outdoors, it’s still safer for them to be primarily indoor pets. Outdoor elements can pose a risk to their health and well-being, from injury and disease to increased exposure to harmful parasites.
Genetics also play a considerable role in their lifespan. Investing in Maine Coon kittens from reputable breeders can make huge differences. They perform necessary genetic tests to ensure they are breeding healthy cats, thus significantly reducing the likelihood of inheritable diseases.
Last but not least, love and affection! These cats return tenfold every bit of love they receive. An emotionally nourished cat is a healthy cat!
In conclusion, if what you’re looking for is a long-term furry companion, a healthy and well-cared-for Maine Coon cat can share well over a decade of its life with you, filled with moments of absolute joy and unwavering companionship. So when you see that “Maine coon kittens for sale” sign, remember that it’s not about just owning a cat. It’s about sharing your life and your love with one. The affection and care you provide is its own reward, reflected in a long, happy, and healthy life for your Maine Coon.

Cat Animagi Au
Purely self-indulgent- I simply wanted to draw some kitties and honestly, I feel like this could be hilarious so here's some head canons I thought of while drawing this ---->
Harry
Harry was not at all expecting to be a cat Animagus. He fully expected to be a stag like his father or some sort of dog like Sirius was. The last thing he expected was to be a cat, and a very large one at that.
Harry became an animagus in eighth year.
Professor McGonagall was thrilled that she was no longer the only cat Animagus at Hogwarts. She personally saw to it that Harry was registered as an animagus at the Ministry.
Hermione often finds Harry curled up in the common room on the windowsill.
Ron is convinced that Harry is some sort of "titan" cat due to his humungous size but Hermione speculates that he's some sort of maine coon or Norwegian forest cat.
He is very much a void in the darkness and has scared the piss out of Ron, Seamus, and Dean many times.
However, his animagus status is kept quiet from anyone other than his housemates. The other houses now recognize his animagus form and give him weird or outlandish nicknames. They're mostly to do with either the faint glasses markings around his eyes or his larger than normal size.
Harry takes advantage of his smaller size to sneak around the castle during the night.
He has taken pleasure by nipping Draco's heels in the hallway between classes.
Draco
Draco, on the other hand, was hoping his animagus form was anything but a ferret. Every since that incident in the courtyard with Professor Moody he has loathed the creatures.
His mother predicted he could have been an exotic bird and for a while he was fond of the idea until he realized he would have to molt feathers every year.
The first time he transformed Pansy gushed over him and promised to purchase him one of those pretty necklaces that she's seen muggles give their cats. Draco had to explain to her how that was, infact, not a necklace, but a collar. Blaise would not shut up about giving Draco a collar for the next month.
Draco takes pride in his appearance and that does not stop when he's in his animagus form. He's always very sleek and shiny without a hair out of place. His tail is by far his favorite feature with how it looks like a fancy feather when he walks.
He's yet to register with the Ministry as an animagus.
He can often be found infront of the fire in the Slytherin Common room curled up on a silk pillow.
Draco hates the black smudge on his right foreleg that imitated the dark mark on his arm. Even as a simple cat he can't escape the choices he made in the past. He's tried ripping the fur out there but found that the skin underneath was also just as black. He had a mind to dye it but that idea quickly went out of the window for a multitude of reasons. One being he did not have opposable thumbs.
Draco and Harry
When Draco stumbled upon Harry in his animagus form it was completely by accident. At first Draco was afraid that the Chosen one would somehow recognize him but was surprised to find a gentle hand passing over his head and spine. It was the weirdest experience he has ever had.
Draco took to following Harry around the castle on weekends convinced that Harry was none the wiser about who he was. It was nice. Of course when Ron and Hermione weren't around. WHen they were Ron teased Harry about gaining a follower, as if he did have those already, and Hermione studied him as if he was one of the massive tomes she carried around. He was half convinced that she had figured him out long ago, but just hadn't said anything for some unknown reason.
Draco met Harry finally in the other's animagus form while stalking the halls late at night. A quick glance and Draco was petrified by two glowing green eyes in the darkness and it took everything in him not to flee down the hallway.
It took awhile for the two to get along in their animagus forms and on several occasions had to be broken up by Professor McGonagall who during several of those occasions was in her animagus form as well.
After a while, Harry and Draco slowly form a weird routine of walking the halls at night. They bond quite well during their time together.
Harry at some point joins the gag about getting Draco a fancy collar. Draco is surprised that it doesn't seem like that bad of an idea when coming from Harry.
Draco teases Harry about how even as a cat his furr is still just as messy as his hair is in human form.

I'm so sorry if I'm clogging your inbox but I'm nothing but a hyperactive gal with chronic brain rot
Domestic Kate Laswell?
Domestic Kate Laswell who gets into not-so-quiet arguments with household appliances.
Domestic Kate Laswell who sits at the kitchen table and doomscrolls while her wife makes a recipe she saw on Instagram reels.
Domestic Kate Laswell in ratty lounge clothes with her hair pulled in a tangled ponytail, somehow holding a cat, book, and a bag of Lays.
I saw Kate Laswell and immediately knew what I had to do. Not apologising for this, I like Laswell posting so it's gonna be long. Also, when it comes to Station Chief Kate "I love my wife" Laswell, there is no clogging my inbox.
Kate Laswell, the esteemed woman she is routinely argues with their toaster because it's broken but she refuses to get a new one because it was the first ever appliance she bought herself. She and her wife have the money to purchase hundreds of new toasters but she refuses because this one is her toaster. Sarah Laswell has walked into their kitchen on multiple occasions to find Kate talking to this fucking toaster. "You under-toast the bread and then you over-toast the bread. Just toast my fucking bread correctly." "Let's get a new-" "No."
Kate, who has a Pinterest board full of recipes that she thinks Sarah might like to try and she'll send them to her wife only to find that it's the same recipe from the Instagram reel that Sarah had bookmarked last night. So, now she sits and watches videos about behind-the-scenes facts from movies while Sarah argues with herself about how much garlic is too much garlic.
Kate, who spends her day off on the couch with Minnie, their Maine Coon, on her lap with a book resting on Minnie's back and a bag of chips held between her chest and the cat. She's wearing sweatpants that are so old she can't identify what logo used to be on the leg. Her shirt is definitely Sarah's because there's green paint around the collar and it matches the green in the painting above their mantel.
Kate Laswell, who can routinely be heard threatening to put one of her cats in the soup. What soup, you ask? The soup.
Kate, who very `begrudgingly` agrees to let Sarah buy the cat Halloween costumes. And then days later sends John a series of photos. Minnie, their big, glorious, sophisticated girl, is dressed like a hotdog. Borris, her favourite grumpy old man, has a stupid Dracula cape. Dolly, has on a costume that makes her look like Yoda. And John's favourite of their cats, Dot, the little mold spore has tiny ladybug wings because they were the only thing small enough to fit her. Kate makes a photo of the four cats and Sarah her laptop wallpaper. John makes a photo of Dot in her tiny wings his phone wallpaper.
Kate Laswell, the professional woman who after having spent 26 hours awake sits and scrolls through Facebook one night on Sarah's phone. Except she doesn't actually look at any of the posts, she just sits scrolling with her thumb for ten minutes before she realises what she's been doing. Sarah waits until after she's tucked her wife in to lose it laughing in the other room.
Kate and her wife who parallel play on their phone. They'll sit on the couch with a movie they've seen countless times in the background while Kate plays solitaire and Sarah does her daily word search on her favourite app.
Kate, who does that thing I've noticed literally every woman do when they're on the phone at home and they start doodling in the corner of the nearest bit of paper. It starts as squiggles, then they draw black circles and eventually there are various little flowers scattered across the page.
Kate, who absolutely adores the movie 9 to 5 and will throw it on whenever everything in her job starts to become a bit too suffocating. Sarah recognises the action and immediately orders dinner from their local Thai place. The man who owns it knows the two by name, she doesn't have to order, she just has to call up and she hears "it'll be about half an hour" over the phone. More often than not on those days they'll fall asleep on the couch together like they did at the start of their relationship.
Kate and her wife, who like to make gingerbread cookies at Christmas and decorate them. Sarah is amazing at it when she's not giving the gingerbread ladies gumdrop titties. And then there's Kate, she tries, she genuinely does but every year a photo of her gingerbread folks gets sent to a group chat with her, Sarah, John and Nikolai where they are subsequently body-shamed beyond belief. She saves some for Nik anyway and he accepts them gratefully.
Kate and her beloved blue shirt that she wears to work and owns three of because the first one mysteriously disappeared. Coincidentally, Sarah started baking in the kitchen in nothing but a pale blue shirt and Batman underwear around the same time. Her second has a blood stain on the cuff from where John had grabbed her, not knowing his palm was sliced open and he'd stained the light material with blood. He had felt horrible, Kate brought up the time she'd drunkenly thrown up on a pair of his nice shoes years ago when they were younger and more reckless. They moved on. That shirt is now her "Sarah has roped me into helping paint" shirt. If anyone fucks up her last shirt then she's asking Nikolai, John and Sarah separately all to get her a new one for her birthday so she'll have a decent stock of them.
Sarah, who has to keep a stock of Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew in the fridge because Dr Pepper is her favourite and Mountain Dew is Kate's but the other woman would never admit it or buy it for herself because she's weirdly embarrassed by it. But amongst a very small group of people, it is common knowledge, Station Chief Kate Laswell's favourite drink is Mountain Dew.
And lastly:
Kate Laswell, the woman who once snapped a man's neck with his own gun, is also the woman who loves her wife's family. When they get asked to babysit baby Katie [named after Laswell], the two women agree before the question is even half out of the relative's mouth. In fact, you're right, they should keep baby Katie for the night just to give her parents a night off because they're kind like that. No other reason. And this little girl adores her aunts, if Kate is near then the toddler is by her side clinging to her pant leg.
So, they go shopping and get snacks. They also get baby Katie a new stuffed elephant because she really needed one and who were they to deprive her. Then they go home and change into their respective comfy clothes. Katie's is a little shark onesie and the two women take no less than 19 photos. They spend the day drawing pictures with little Katie, and eventually, it results in the toddler colouring in Sarah's tattoos and drawing Kate some of her own. Eventually, they order some takeout from their local Chinese place and watch Zootopia with their favourite niece. Hours later Sarah takes a photo of big Kate fast asleep on the couch with little Kate asleep on her chest. Kate has an arm around the little girl and the toddler has a fistful of her t-shirt. The next day they very reluctantly take their niece home but not without managing to persuade her parents to let them take her in two weeks time again.

Hiya, do you know what breed Night is? My cat looks a lot like them and I never figured out what her breed might be
Most cats, especially ones you find as strays or at shelters, are not any particular breed, and Night is much the same! Cat breeds haven't existed for as long as dog breeds, so unlike with mixed breed dogs, most cats you meet who weren't purchased from a specific breeder are just "cat" with no specific breed heritage. (There are other folks who have much better articulated posts about this.)
Night's "official" label is "domestic longhair" (the generic term for a longhaired cat with no traced lineage) though he does share several traits with Maine Coons, so would likely have been the type of cat to have been chosen to help found the breed back when it first started. But he is not an actual Maine Coon, if that makes sense.
We do, however, have an open line of communication with his vet because sometimes cats who share similar traits to a breed will be at risk for the same conditions, so for Night we always have him checked for any joint disorders that might arise from his large size, and they check his heart thoroughly as there is a particular type of heart murmur that Maine Coons and similar cats can develop (so far he has shown no signs of it which is good!)
Just for fun, some of the traits he shares with MC cats in spite of not being one:
Large boy. He is around 18lbs and pretty much all muscle, and can easily reach the top of our high-backed couch with his front paws while his hind paws are still touching the floor.
Mixed coat length (short head, long ruff, medium back and sides, long belly britches and tail)
Loves to play with water
Tiny baby meow which is hilarious with how big he is.
Very chatty and mostly "talks" in chirps and trills instead of regular meows.
Slow to mature. He didn't finish growing until I think age 3? And has only really started to mellow from his kitten energy at age 5. This year was the first sign of him slowing to what one would expect of a normal adult cat's sleeping levels. He also gets fluffier every year.
He does lack certain other features like the muzzle shape (American bred MCs don't quite have the heavy chin that European ones do but it's still a bit broader) and the ear position, size, and tufts.

She bought a fucking Maine Coon cat from a backyard breeder, a breed with a list of health problems (ask me how I know, I’ll happily show you the vet bills, and the previous owner dumped this purebred at the shelter without disclosing he had a bladder stone the size of Kansas City so he’s been the most expensive gift with purchase from the jump), when she’s got two prop dogs she can’t properly care for. I’m livid about this.
Renee is just an asshole…I hope the cat manages to escape and finds someone who doesn't see it as a fucking accessory.

So one of my aunt’s friends is a professional Maine coon cat breeder and one of the kittens from the last litter has not yet been purchased. So my aunt keeps reblogging (on Facebook. I don’t think it’s reblogging? Whatever) this kitten’s listing from the breeder page and the listings aways describe him as needing “a forever home” and saying “won’t you adopt him” which is such a funny thing to say about a purebred cat that costs thousands to buy.

[david tennant, cis man, he/him, francesca, muse b! ) – Is that DOMINIC BRADY I spotted in new york city? rumour has it they’re 47 born on OCTOBER 25th and have been in the city for 23 YEARS! I think I’ve seen them around BROOKLYN and working as a PARTNER AT THE MARLOWE & BRADY LAW FIRM! They’re really known for SAYING IT LIKE IT IS, A BLACK COFFEE IN HAND AT ALL TIMES, AND A CONSTANT STRING OF DAD JOKES IN PRIVATE but that’s for you to judge. I hope they like the city!
IN A NUTSHELL; red-soled shoes, saying it like it is, a black coffee in hand at all times, monochrome decor with a pop of colour, extravagant lego builds, a constant string of dad jokes in private, bright ties and neatly pressed coloured shirts, expensive bottles of red wine, crystal glasses.
tw: divorce
Name: Dominic Brady Nicknames: Dom Age: Forty-seven DoB: 25th October 1977 Occupation: Lawyer Romantic/sexual orientation: Biromantic/bisexual Birthplace: Windsor, UK
IMMEDIATE FAMILY.
Parents: Richard & Cynthia Brady Siblings: One older and two younger siblings Children: Fraternal twins ( 25 ), Elliot ( 14 ) Pets: One Maine Coon cat named Mercutio
ABOUT.
Dominic was born to money. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. As a result, he grew up wanting for nothing. He could have anything and everything that he wanted, so long as he did what his parents said anyway.
For him, that involved heading off to Eton as soon as he was old enough to, just as his father had done before him and his grandfather before him. His younger brother was expected to do the same. When it came to the Brady children, they were supposed to perform.
When it came to university, he travelled across the pond to the States and to Harvard Law School. It wasn’t exactly what he wanted then, but his father made him do his best and aim the highest that he could. That, of course, meant it had to be Harvard.
While he was there and away from his parents' watchful gaze, he began to explore another kind of lifestyle. He partied hard and he definitely did his best ( to enjoy every second, at least ).
It took a couple of years, but in the end he realised that law was actually what he wanted, that his father was right —- something he wouldn't actually admit out loud to the other man.
He spent six years out in Massachusetts studying in the end, getting all the qualifications he needed.
There was a slight distraction during that time, however, when the girl he'd been casually dating fell pregnant and he ended up as a father of twins all of a sudden. The pair attempted to make things work for his remaining years out in Cambridge, but in the end, they really weren't suited as a couple. They are fantastic co-parents, though, something that hasn't changed in the slightest in 25 years.
Once he graduated, he made his way to New York, moving into a three-storey townhouse in Greenwich Village, purchased with his trust fund of course. He finally made a proper life for himself there, the twins splitting their time between New York and Boston.
He found himself a job at an up-and-coming law firm, spending his late twenties working his way up the ladder and making a name for himself. By his mid-thirties he was one of the most sought-after lawyers in the city.
Dominic also found himself in his most serious relationship, one that led to him meeting his soon-to-be wife. In the end, they were married for nine years and have a son together, Elliot ( 14 ), but the marriage fell apart thanks to them both being such workaholics. Making time for anything just seemed impossible in the end.
Ten years or so ago, Marlowe and Brady was formed, a boutique law firm opened up with a friend. He hasn't looked back since.
More coming soon...

Finding The Best Maine Coon Cat Breeders: Key Qualities To Look For
When searching for Maine Coon Kittens for Sale, it's essential to ensure that you're dealing with reputable Maine Coon Cat Breeders who prioritize the health and well-being of their cats. Maine Coons are known for their large size, gentle temperament, and luxurious coats, making them a popular choice for families. But how do you find the right breeder who offers healthy, well-socialized Maine Coon Cats? Here are the key qualities to look for when choosing a breeder, ensuring you bring home a healthy, happy kitten.
Health Testing and Guarantees
Reputable Maine Coon Cat Breeders prioritize the health of their kittens. Before purchasing, always ask breeders if they perform health testing on their cats, particularly for common hereditary issues such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and hip dysplasia. Breeders like Royal Maine Coon Cattery offer health guarantees, ensuring that the kitten you purchase is free of major genetic defects. This is a crucial aspect to consider, as it guarantees that you're investing in a healthy pet.
Well-Socialized Kittens
When choosing Maine Coon Kittens for Sale, you want to ensure that the kittens are well-socialized. Maine Coons are known for their friendly, outgoing personalities, but this is enhanced by early socialization. Look for breeders who raise their kittens in a home environment, where they are exposed to daily household activities and human interaction. Royal Maine Coon Cattery, for instance, prides itself on providing kittens that are accustomed to being around people, making them ideal companions.
Breeding Ethics
Ethical breeding practices are key to maintaining the quality of the breed. Avoid breeders who offer Maine Coon Cats at unusually low prices or produce too many litters in a short time. Reputable breeders will limit the number of litters they produce each year to ensure the health of both the mother and kittens. They should also be transparent about their breeding practices and happy to provide references from past buyers.
Registered and Certified Breeders
The best Maine Coon Cat Breeders are typically registered with reputable organizations like the International Cat Association (TICA) or the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA). These certifications indicate that the breeder adheres to strict breeding standards, ensuring the health and temperament of the kittens. Breeders like Royal Maine Coon Cattery are often part of such organizations, which adds credibility and peace of mind for buyers.
Transparency and Communication
When looking for Maine Coon Kittens for Sale, good communication with the breeder is essential. Reputable breeders will be open to answering all your questions, whether it’s about the health of the kittens, their living conditions, or the breeding practices. They should also provide regular updates and photos as the kittens grow, giving you insight into their development.
Clean and Safe Environment
Visiting the breeder’s facility or home, when possible, is a great way to assess the conditions in which the kittens are raised. A clean, spacious, and safe environment reflects a breeder’s dedication to their cats' well-being. Look for breeders who provide plenty of space for their cats to roam, ensuring they are physically and mentally stimulated.
Lifetime Support
Reputable Maine Coon Cat Breeders, like Royal Maine Coon Cattery, often provide lifetime support for their kittens. This means that even after the sale, the breeder is available for guidance on care, feeding, and health concerns. This level of commitment shows that the breeder genuinely cares about the long-term well-being of their cats.
Conclusion
Finding the best Maine Coon Cat Breeders requires careful consideration of health, socialization, and ethical breeding practices. Breeders like Royal Maine Coon Cattery stand out by offering well-raised, healthy kittens in a loving environment, ensuring that your new furry family member is not only a beautiful Maine Coon but also a happy and well-adjusted one. By prioritizing breeders who meet these standards, you'll be well on your way to welcoming a healthy, friendly Maine Coon kitten into your home.
If you are looking for Maine Coon Kittens for Sale, make sure to check out Royal Maine Coon Cattery for a trusted and reputable option!

PETKIT PuraMax Self-Cleaning Litter Box Review
Disclaimer: This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through these links as an affiliate. Your support helps us continue to provide valuable content for pet owners. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Convenience and Capacity The PETKIT PuraMax is an impressive extra-large capacity, app-controlled, self-cleaning litter box that proves to be highly suitable for households with multiple cats. During our testing period, which involved three cats, we found that the litter compartment only needed emptying once a week, showcasing its convenience for busy pet owners.
Design and Features
One of the standout features of the PuraMax is the inclusion of roomy trash bags with a drawstring handle, making the disposal process straightforward and hygienic. The design shares many high-quality elements with the PetKit PuraX Self-Cleaning Litter Box, particularly its notably quiet cleaning cycle, ensuring minimal disturbance in your home.
Enhanced Odor Control
Odor control is a critical aspect of any litter box, and the PuraMax excels in this area. It boasts a tightly sealed waste compartment, an integrated chamber for an odor-eating block, and an automatic deodorizing sprayer that activates after your cat exits the box. These features work together to maintain a fresh-smelling environment.
Efficient Cleaning Mechanism
The cleaning mechanism of the PuraMax is efficient and reliable, utilizing a system that tumbles the litter over grates to separate waste and return clean litter to the main compartment. Throughout our testing, the PuraMax operated smoothly without clogging or requiring any interior cleaning.
Buy Now
Customizable Cleaning Options
To ensure the litter box remains fresh, the PuraMax offers multiple cleaning options, allowing you to set it to cycle after every use. This means each cat in a multi-cat household can find a clean litter box every time they enter.
Smart Sensor Technology
The PuraMax is equipped with built-in sensors that effectively recognize when a cat is entering or exiting the box, enhancing safety and functionality. Additionally, you can trigger cleaning sessions either directly from the litter box or via the accompanying mobile app.
App Control Experience
While the app control feature adds a layer of convenience, our experience with the app was less satisfying. It was visually busy and seemed overly focused on encouraging accessory purchases. Furthermore, despite requiring detailed setup information, the app occasionally failed to differentiate between individual cats and provided a high volume of notifications, which sometimes led to important alerts being missed.
Suitable for Large Cats
For households with larger cats, such as Maine Coons or Norwegian Forest cats, the PuraMax is particularly suitable. It features a 10 by 8-inch entryway and an entry height of only eight inches, making it accessible for senior cats or those with mobility issues.
Space Requirements
However, potential buyers should be aware that the PuraMax is quite spacious, measuring over two feet in width. This means it requires a significant amount of space in your home.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the PETKIT PuraMax is a highly efficient, user-friendly, and spacious self-cleaning litter box that is ideal for multi-cat households and large cats. Despite some minor drawbacks with the app, its overall performance and features make it a worthwhile investment for maintaining a clean and odor-free litter environment.
