To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord.
1 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.
4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
5 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.
7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
10 O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise. — Psalm 36 | BRG Bible (BRG) Blue Red and Gold Letter Edition™ Copyright © 2012 BRG Bible Ministries. Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
--Psalm 36:5-7

Light and Dark
To the choirmaster. Of David, the servant of the LORD. 1 Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. 3 The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good. 4 He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets…

Knowledge of Mercy
In the morning prayer of the Divine Office, we began with Psalm 36: “Sin speaks to the heart of the sinner in the depths of his heart. There is no fear of God before his eyes. He so flatters himself in his mind that he knows not his guilt… all wisdom is gone. He plots the defeat of goodness..” Being Irish Catholic and a product of Catholic elementary and high school, there is no chance that I do…

PSALMS S.O.A.P. ~ PSALM 36
Thursday, 9/7/23
SCRIPTURE:
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. ~ Psalm 36:5,7-9
OBSERVATION:
His lovingkindness and faithfulness reach even me...
Even now I'm a child of man - and as such he offers me refuge in the shadow of His wings...
He offers to quench my thirsts...
He offers me a chance - the chance - to see in His light...
All of this through His grace to an undeserving me...
Through Jesus...
APPLICATION:
Reach for His lovingkindness and faithfulness...
Take refuge in the shadow of His wings...
Drink my fill of His abundance and delight...
See in His light...
PRAYER:
(Incorporating verses 3,4,10, & 11)
Loving and faithful Heavenly Father; Too often the words from my mouth and heart carry wickedness and deceit; Too often I ceased to be wise or do good. Too often I plan wickedness - or stumble after it; Too often I set myself on a path that is not good; Too often I do not despise evil. I ask your forgiveness for those times, and those times I know will follow... I ask that You continue Your lovingkindness and that I may continue to grow in knowing You, May Your righteousness through the Holy Spirit guide me to an upright heart. And not let the foot of pride come upon me, And not let the hand of the wicked drive me away. In Jesus's Name, And for Your glory and honor in all things...
Yours, for His glory and honor... 𝖌

“[1] To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.[2] O my God, in you I trust;do not let me be put to shame;do not let my enemies exult over me. [4] Make me to know your ways, O Lord;teach me your paths.[5] Lead me in your truth, and teach me,for you are the God of my salvation;for you I wait all day long. [10] All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his decrees.[11] For your name's sake, O Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great.[12] Who are they that fear the Lord?He will teach them the way that they should choose.[13] They will abide in prosperity, and their children shall possess the land.[14] The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him,and he makes his covenant known to them. [21] May integrity and uprightness preserve me,for I wait for you.” (From Psalm 25, NRSV)
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26, NIV)
“Softening Your Heart” By In Touch Ministries: “When you trust God, there's no limit to what He can do through your life.”
“When we continually spend time with God in His Word, His presence will saturate our heart, making us sensitive and teachable. But just as a human relationship can grow cold unless we intentionally nurture it, the heart can gradually harden when we aren’t seeking intimacy with God. For our heart to stay soft and receptive, we must obediently—and promptly—respond to whatever the Lord tells us to do.
If you believe that God might be leading you in a certain direction, take the time to earnestly seek His mind on the matter and intentionally listen for His response. Then avoid getting busy with a substitute for what He originally called you to do. It would be tragic to work hard doing what you and others consider good, only to discover that you accomplished something that was not God’s intention.
Resisting the Lord often amounts to setting His purposes for your life on a shelf. And that will likely leave you feeling something is missing. There’s no substitute for God’s will, even when His plan might seem difficult or impossible. But when you trustfully approach God with a cooperative heart, there’s no limit to what He can accomplish through your life. So, step out in obedience today and say, “Lord, I want Your will—no matter what.”

A Child Destined to Die
God had revealed to Joseph in a dream what was about to happen. Startled awake, his heart pumping and his mind racing, Joseph quietly woke Mary and together they hurriedly packed, bundled up their son, and slipped away under cover of the night.
God had revealed to Joseph in a dream what was about to happen. Startled awake, his heart pumping and his mind racing, Joseph quietly woke Mary and together they hurriedly packed, bundled up their son, and slipped away under cover of the night. Pharaoh, long ago, had tried to wipe out the Jews by killing their newborn boys, but God saved one, Moses, who would lead all God’s people into the…

The Shield of Salvation
35 Thou hast also given me the shield of Thy salvation; Thy right hand hath held me up, and Thy gentleness hath made me great. 36 Thou hast enlarged my path under me, that my feet did not slip. — Psalm 18:35-36 | 21st Century King James Version (KJV21) The Holy Bible; 21st Century King James Version Copyright © 1994 by Deuel Enterprises, Inc.
