I SHIP IT (2014) poster
if you just like the poster feel free to delete this essay I am about to write
I was going to post this ages ago (read 2016) cause I made it after I watched the original short but I just finished binging Seasons 1 and 2 of I Ship It on CW Seed and I AM SO PROUD OF YULIN KUANG. Like this short was the inspiration I needed to push through my final IB film 2 years ago and now it’s a show with a good budget and it’s going to be on TV and like I just want to let it be known that Yulin Kuang is a genius and my hero. Honestly, I am going to work so much harder on my writing now that I know I might actually have a shot and our stories will matter cause good writing transcends any barrier or social construct.
I went into I Ship It season 2 being like “it’s going to be Tim, it has to be Tim, it’s always going to be Tim” but the second Luke spoke to Ella. I was like “I ship it” HOOK LINE AND SINKER, I was a goner. I don’t know how you do it @yulinkuang
SPOILERS
but that last kiss that Luke gives her. The nonchalance of “everyone’s on the north stage” his stupid accent, the way he walks. Then HE JUST GOES ALL IN. The intensity, the dip, the small peck on the cheek afterwards I just *swoon*
Everyone, please go watch this show, you have like a day left! Call in sick with food poisoning, it’ll take you 2-3 hours at most to binge. GO!
Watch it on CW Seed link here: https://www.cwseed.com/shows/i-ship-it/

tons of WHITE countries that torture animals(similar or worse than yulin). The only reason why people are outraged at the Yulin (apart from the torture) is because of the attachment many cultures have to dogs, not a lot r outraged at the meat industry tho :)) Also the festival is just a great way for ppl to be even more racist. china is (was) v impoverished so they ate dogs (accessible, easy. TW cannibalism - my grandma told me stories about ppl eating other CHILDREN when she wa growing up.
Yep, this is true.
Like I remember seeing some documentary about slaughterhouses in America and the slaughterers or whatever you call them were proud to kill and torture some of the animals. My memory’s fuzzy because it was a long while back but I do remember this man (obvious middle-age, farmer looking white man) who thought it was fun to abuse these animals and he’d even sexually assault them too. It was gross as fuck. But hey, let’s focus only on China as if it’s the only place where inhumane animal treatment goes on. *sarcasm*
But yeah, I definitely understand that part about poverty in some parts of China. If someone has to eat a stray to survive, then that’s on them to do what they need to. I’m not gonna tell them they’re wrong but at the same time, I’m against Yulin and any inhumane treatment of dogs. And on your grandma’s stories, I haven’t heard of that before but shit I don’t know what to say to that.

wow, really? i just learnt that in the uk they have protests against the yulin festival in china where they eat dog meat, shouting things like “shame on china”. Like are you kidding me now?? I have to say I’m not proud of the fact that some chinese people do indeed eat dogs and cats, but what makes these people think they can shame people for eating animals when so many of them are meat-eaters themselves? Not to mention protesting in the uk about CHINA doesn’t amount to shit, lmao. The only thing it does is expose yourselves as hypocrites.

Everything You Need To Know About Pomeranians
If you are looking for dogs that are very adorable to look at and can be easily carried, then you should go for a Pomeranian Yulin survivor. These are small sized dogs that have thick fur however, they are quite related to Siberian huskies and Alaskan Malamutes. The breed came into existence after they were bred into smaller sizes in Pomerania which is currently situated between Germany and Poland. There are many things you need to know about Pomeranians before adopting them:
1. They are Associated with Royalty
Pomeranians are also associated with royalty and at one point of time in history, they were the favorite dog breeds for Queen Victoria in the 1800s. She was very smitten to these small furry dogs and started breeding them for popular dog shows in the early Victorian England. Her dogs were so well groomed that she had won many of these dog shows irrespective of her status in England. So technically when you have a Pomeranian at your home as your pet dog, you can easily groom your dog and participate in dog shows and contests.
2. They Have a Big Personality
Pomeranians are not dogs you can tame according to your necessity because they are very expressive and own big personalities of their own. Also they are quite intelligent and tend to understand human language much easily. This makes it easier to train a Pomeranian Yulin survivor but you will need to give them a lot of time. They are proud and happy dogs that can be loving companion to their owners. They can get irritated if they are pet and played with for a long time because even though they are considered lap dogs, they descend from huskies and other northern big sized hunting and working dogs.
3. They Need Grooming for Good Health
When you have a Pomeranian puppy it will not need much bathing and grooming because it has less fur. But as it matures, the fur tends to grow longer and thicker and therefore, you will have to give much attention to their grooming in order to keep their health in check. You will need a professional groomer to cut their nails, brush their fur and apply conditioners to protect from matting, give them baths and trim their fur.
These are the important things you need to know about Pomeranians if you want to adopt them and save them from Dog trafficking. Adopt them if you want to fill your house with joy and playful four paw friends.

Breaking News: China’s dog meat festival begins as South Korea mulls ban

Breaking News: China’s dog meat festival begins as South Korea mulls ban
As South Korea moves closer to banning dog meat, diners tuck into bowls of stewed canine in southern China, where activists are rethinking their tactics to counter a notorious festival that butchers thousands of dogs.
The annual Yulin dog meat celebration opened without a hitch on Thursday, on the day after a South Korean court announced it had ruled that the slaughtering of dogs for meat was illegal.
Activists say the ruling could pave the way for the outlawing of dog meat consumption in South Korea, but there is less progress in China where advocates fear their tactics have been counterproductive.
Eating dog to mark the summer solstice is a tradition in China’s Guangxi region, where the festival has been held since 2009 to mark the occasion in the town of Yulin.
Despite rumours last year that Yulin authorities would ban dog meat sales altogether, many restaurants advertised the controversial offering this week with the veiled moniker of “fragrant meat”. Carcasses were on display for purchase in the city’s open-air markets — though there were fewer of them than in previous years, locals said.
The Dongkou wet market downtown bustled with shoppers meandering past piles of dogs laid out atop butcher stalls for them to inspect. Others hung from hooks, their faces locked in a rigid grimace. Market workers pulled in cartfuls of dead dogs while sweaty men blow-torched the fresher carcasses to remove any remaining fur.
On the street, a man transported two live mutts in a cage on the back of his scooter. As police patrolled outside the market premises, one woman bought a full dog for 662 yuan ($102), saying she would eat it with her family to celebrate the summer solstice.
“It’s very tasty,” another local surnamed Chen told AFP, insisting “they’re all strays — strays and pets are different”.
Chen did not consider it cruel to consume the meat during what the Chinese zodiac system deems the Year of the Dog, quipping: “don’t you eat chicken in the year of the rooster, and pork in the year of the pig?”
But vendors were more discreet than usual. They cooked in narrow alleys or inside their restaurants instead of preparing dog dishes in front of patrons, ushering diners inside and not serving outdoors.
Thousands of dogs are butchered during the event, the animal protection organisation Humane Society International estimates — a fraction of the more than 10 million consumed each year in China.
Animal rights activists have typically attended the festival to purchase ill-fated dogs and save them from slaughter, said Qiao Wei, an activist from the Si Chuna Qiming Animal Protection Centre.
But now they feel that working to establish a general ban on the dog meat trade would be much more effective.
“We have no hope that we can bring change just by going to Yulin,” he said. Simply buying dogs “doesn’t help”.
International animal rights groups concur, saying that focusing so intensively on dog meat consumption in just one city at an annual event risks becoming counterproductive.
“It would be far better to have a holistic campaign that works collaboratively across the country, engaging the government and public to acknowledge animals as our friends, not food,” said Jill Robinson, founder of the Hong Kong-based Animals Asia Foundation.
Chinese leader Mao Zedong had banned dog ownership for being bourgeois, but the ranks of China’s rising middle-class are now full of proud and loving dog owners.
This year, the foundation set up an online portal where Chinese citizens can report restaurants that operate illegally. Tipsters have already flagged some 1,300 restaurants in 153 cities, with over 200 of them shut down, forced to stop selling the meat, or issued warnings, said Robinson.
Before the festival, animal protection groups from around the world submitted a letter with 235,000 signatures to Beijing, calling for the event’s abolishment.
The tide appears to be turning against dog meat consumption elsewhere in Asia, and Chinese animal lovers like Zhang Huahua, a 62-year-old retired lecturer-turned-activist, sense change is in the air.
Zhang came to Yulin all the way from her home in the southern province of Guangdong to submit a letter with recommendations to the local government. Her hope is to save dog lives by changing the system itself.
In South Korea, where one million dogs are believed to be eaten annually, a court ruled that meat consumption was not legitimate grounds for killing canines, after an animal rights group accused a dog farm operator of slaughtering dogs “without proper reasons” and violating building and hygiene regulations.
Last April, Taiwan banned the consumption, purchase and possession of both dog and cat meat, with offenders facing a fine of up to Tw$250,000 ($8,170).

Trump sees 'Wonder' Puerto Rico survival, ignores critics - Western Mass News - WGGB/WSHM

By JILL COLVIN and CALVIN WOODWARD Associated Press
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Touring a little slice of Hurricane Maria's devastation, President Donald Trump congratulated Puerto Rico on Tuesday for escaping the higher death toll of "a real catastrophe like Katrina" and heaped praise on the relief efforts of his administration without mentioning the sharp criticism the federal response has drawn.
"Really nothing short of a miracle," he said of the recovery, an appraisal at odds with the grief of many still struggling to find water and food away from the capital city in wide swaths of an island where only 5 percent of energy customers have power back. The death count of 16 is expected to grow.
In the heart of San Juan a few miles from the air base where Trump gave his report individuals piled clothes and mattresses lacking electricity nearly two weeks. "Nobody's come," said Ray Negron, 38, collecting debris in the Playita neighborhood.
Trump vowed an all-out effort to assist the island while adding, somewhat lightly, "Now I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you have thrown our budget a little out of whack because we have spent a lot of cash on Puerto Rico. And that's fine. We've saved a lot of lives."
Known deaths from Maria in the U.S. territory stand at 16. But local officials warning that any accounting of death and destruction is far from complete as effects are suffered by individuals from thirst, hunger and extreme heat without air conditioning. As for Katrina, as many as 1,800 people died in 2005 when levees protecting New Orleans broke, a toll in property and lives that took years to understand.
The trip offered evidence of the unconventional route Trump has taken in responding to the punch from Maria, Irma and hurricanes Harvey. His effusive praise for relief efforts has overshadowed his displays of empathy for those people who are suffering. And in Puerto Rico an off note has been struck by his criticism of people for not doing more to help themselves during a time of crisis.
Trump said his trip was "not about me" but then praised local officials for offering kind words about his administration's recovery effort and encouraged one to replicate the "nice things" she'd said earlier. Trump also singled out Gov. Ricardo Rossello for "giving us the highest compliments"
"Every death is a horror," he explained, "but if you look at a real tragedy such as Katrina and you consider the tremendous, countless and hundreds and hundreds of people that died, and you look at what happened here with, really, a storm which was just totally overpowering, nobody has ever seen anything like this." He told local officials "you can be very proud of all of your people, all of our people working together."
The most notable critic in Puerto Rico, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz of Trump, joined officials at the air base to get a briefing shook the president's hand and said afterward she expected he now understood the situation's gravity. But his comment implying Maria was not a event left her unsure.
"Sometimes his style of communication gets in the way," she told CNN. "I'd hope that the president of the United States stops spouting out remarks that really hurt the people of Puerto Rico."
On a more positive note, Cruz said "I saw a real connection between the reality and the White House staff. I think they finally realized." In a tweet, she pointedly excluded the president as she credited his people with now understanding "the disconnect between how things should happen and the way they really happen."
Air Force One brought first lady Melania Trump the president and aides to Puerto Rico for a tour.
Parts of the itinerary were drawn to ensure a friendly reception: Trump visited the homes of selected families waiting on their lawns.
One of the fastest to recuperate, in the Guaynabo area, 200 people cheered Trump's trip and crowded around him for mobile photos. To the audience that was friendly, Trump tossed rolls of paper towels at a table of supplies at a church.
"There's a good deal of love in this room, a lot of love," Trump said. "Great folks."
Inspired by AP what he has to say to people still without power, water and food, he spoke of the generators and said the grid is being fixed.
"Again the job that's been done here is really nothing short of a miracle," he said.
Before, on approach to the airport, Air Force One descended over a landscape marked by mangled palm trees, metal debris strewn near homes and patches of stripped trees, yet with less devastation evident than further from San Juan.
For much of his tour, Trump stayed focused primarily on drawing praise.
"He didn't play politics at all," he said of the governor, which makes clear that he believes those who have criticized him to be politically driven. Maria was misstated by Trump as a Category 5 hurricane; it was Category 4 when it hit on Puerto Rico.
"I appreciate your service and I know you love ours," Trump said. "Our country has really gone all out. It's not dangerous, it is expensive. But I consider it a great honor."
Before leaving Washington, Trump said Puerto Ricans who have called the federal response inadequate "need to give us more aid."
Large-scale protests against Trump failed to materialize by early afternoon, with only a few knots of people gathering around San Juan.
As he led out from the White House to visit the island, Trump told reporters that "it is now acknowledged what a terrific job we have done."
The excursion is Trump's fourth to areas battered by storms during an unusually violent hurricane season which has also seen parts of Texas, Florida, Louisiana and the U.S. Virgin Islands inundated by floodwaters and struck by high winds.
Trump's trip follows a weekend where he had pushed back against critics, such as Cruz. He had reacted angrily on Twitter, deriding the "poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who aren't able to get their employees to assist."
"They want everything to be done for them as it ought to be a community effort," he added, scoffing at "politically motivated ingrates" who had criticized the federal work, and insisting that "tremendous progress" was being made.
Cruz had begged the administration to "make sure someone is in charge that is up to the task of saving lives" and said federal inefficiency was killing people.
Trump and his wife also visited Navy and Marine Corps personnel on the flight deck of the USS Kearsarge.
Before the storm struck on Sept. 20, Puerto Rico was in dire condition as a result of a decade-long economic recession that had left its infrastructure, including the island's power lines, in a sorry state. Maria was the most powerful storm to hit the island in a century and unleashed floods and mudslides that knocked out telecommunications, together with roads and the island's entire electrical grid.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said more than 10,000 federal officials are on the floor on the island, and 45 percent of customers have access. Businesses are starting with 60 percent of retail gas stations now up and running.
Woodward reported from Washington. Associated Press writers Danica Coto and Michael Weissenstein in Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar in Washington and Catherine Lucey and San Juan contributed to this report.

US President Donald Trump has praised the “great job done by his administration” to help hurricane-hit Puerto Rico.
On his first trip to the island since its pummeling by category 4 Maria two weeks ago, he told local officials they should be proud they did not lose thousands of lives as in “a real catastrophe like Katrina.”
“What’s happened in terms of recovery, in terms of saving lives,16 lives, that’s a lot. But you compare that to the thousands of people who died in other hurricanes and frankly were not nearly as severe.”
Welcoming POTUS realDonaldTrump today in Puerto Rico so that he can learn firsthand our situation in the aftermath of Hurricane María. pic.twitter.com/3jFdm1HCQl— Ricardo Rossello (@ricardorossello) October 3, 2017
Trump’s government has been criticised for failing to respond adequately to the crisis. Leading the criticism has been the mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz who has who compared the alleged lassitude to “genocide”.
Trump’s trip has been to reassure the island’s struggling residents that his government is committed to their recovery after being hit by the worst hurricane in 90 years. He even joked at one point that the island was straining the US budget.
“I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack because we’ve spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico.” he said. “ and that’s fine. We have saved a lot of lives.”
The majority of Puerto Ricans are still largely without electricity, communications and access to clean drinking water and food.

Pres. Trump tells Puerto Rico ‘You’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack’
PUERTO RICO — President Donald Trump squarely focused on one task as he landed in Puerto Rico: portraying his administration’s response to the devastation on the still-recovering island as a tremendous success.
In so doing, he held an awkward roundtable with local officials where he offered praise for those had been most complimentary to his administration, even as many residents on the island continued to lack access to basic services and criticized the federal response.
The President also appeared to jokingly blame the island and its 3.5 million residents for throwing the federal budget “a little out of whack.”
“I hate to tell you Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack,” Trump said with a grin. “Because we’ve spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico and that’s fine, we’ve saved a lot of lives.”
But the bulk of Trump’s remarks on Tuesday focused on praising his administration’s response to the destructive hurricane, even as more than half of residents still lack access to potable water and as nearly all of the island remains without power.
He called out top officials in his administration for praise before the cameras. He told officials they should be “very proud” that only 16 people died in the hurricane — comparing the death toll to the more than a thousand who died in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
And even as he praised some of the islands local officials, he focused squarely on the positive comments those officials have made about him and his administration’s response.
Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselo was called out for praise for “appreciating what we did.” The island’s representative in Congress, Jennifer Gonzalez-Colon, was thanked for saying “such nice things” — and asked to repeat her praise on Tuesday.
“Right from the beginning this governor did not play politics,” Trump said. “He was saying it how it was and he was giving us the highest ratings.”
One official Trump did not call out for praise was the mayor of Puerto Rico’s capital San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz, whom Trump criticized on Twitter over the weekend after she expressed frustration with the pace of the federal response.
As he thanked Gonzalez-Colon, Trump asked her to “say a little something about what you said about us today,” before quickly catching himself and adding: “And it’s not about me, it’s about all of these incredible people from the military to FEMA to the first responders, I’ve never seen anyone work so hard.”
After his roundtable meeting with federal and local officials, Trump headed to Guaynabo, Puerto Rico — just outside the capital of San Juan — to tour some of the hurricane’s devastation and meet with victims of the storm.
Trump’s trip to Puerto Rico came as frustration on the island mounted with the federal response to the storm as the island remained without power. Residents continue to struggle to get access to food and fuel nearly two weeks after the storm hit.

Trump sees 'miracle' Puerto Rico survival, ignores critics

By JILL COLVIN and CALVIN WOODWARD Associated Press
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Touring a small slice of Hurricane Maria's devastation, President Donald Trump congratulated Puerto Rico on Tuesday for escaping the higher death toll of "a real tragedy like Katrina" and heaped praise on the relief efforts of his government without even mentioning the sharp criticism that the federal response has attracted.
"Really nothing short of a miracle," he said of the restoration, an assessment at odds with the grief of many still struggling to find water and food away from the capital city in broad swaths of an island where only 5 percent of electricity customers have power back. The death count of 16 is expected to rise.
In the heart of San Juan a few miles from the atmosphere where Trump gave his report people stacked clothes and mattresses out companies and homes lacking electricity two weeks. "Nobody's come," said Ray Negron, 38, collecting debris from the Playita neighborhood.
Trump vowed an all-out effort to help the island while adding, somewhat softly, "Now I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you've thrown our budget a little out of whack because we have spent plenty of cash on Puerto Rico. And that is fine. We've saved a lot of lives."
Known deaths from Maria from the U.S. land stand at 16. But local officials caution that any accounting of destruction and death is far from complete as secondary effects are suffered by individuals from thirst, hunger and extreme heat without air conditioning. As for Katrina, as many as 1,800 people died in 2005 when levees broke, a toll in property and lives that took years to understand.
The trip offered evidence in responding to the punch from Irma hurricanes Harvey and Maria of the route Trump has taken. His praise for relief efforts has overshadowed his displays of compassion for those people who are currently suffering. And in a time of crisis, specifically, an off note has been struck by his criticism of people for not doing more to help themselves in Puerto Rico.
Trump said his trip was "not about me" but then praised local officials for offering kind words regarding his government's recovery effort and invited one to replicate the "nice things" she'd said earlier. Trump also singled out Gov. Ricardo Rossello for "giving us the highest praise."
"Every death is a horror," he explained, "but if you look at a real tragedy such as Katrina and you look at the tremendous, countless and hundreds and hundreds of people that died, and you look at what happened here with, actually, a storm that was just totally overpowering, nobody has ever seen anything like this." He advised local officials "you can be quite proud of all your people, all of our people working together."

Trump critic San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, in Puerto Rico, said, shook the president's hands and joined him and other officials she expected he understood the gravity of this situation. But his remark implying Maria was not a event left her unsure.
"Sometimes his kind of communicating gets in the way," she told CNN. "I would hope that the president of the United States stops spouting out comments that actually hurt the people of Puerto Rico."
On a more positive note, Cruz said "I saw a real relation between the reality and the White House staff. I think they finally realized." In a tweet, she pointedly excluded the president as she credited his people with now knowing "the disconnect between how things should happen and the way they really occur."
Air Force One brought first lady Melania Trump the president and aides to Puerto Rico for a tour.
At least parts of the itinerary were attracted to guarantee a reception: Trump visited the homes of families awaiting their lawns.
One of the fastest to recover, in the Guaynabo area, Trump's trip cheered and crowded around him for photos. In a table of supplies in a church, Trump tossed rolls of paper towels into the audience that was friendly.
"There's a good deal of love in this room, a great deal of love," Trump said. "Great folks."
Asked by AP what he has to say to people still without water, food and power, he talked of the generators attracted to the island and stated the grid is being repaired.
"Again the job that has been done here is really nothing short of a miracle," he said.
Earlier, over a landscape marked by mangled palm trees, metal debris strewn near homes and patches of stripped trees, yet with devastation evident than further from San Juan, Air Force One descended on approach to the airport.
For much of his tour, Trump stayed focused on drawing on praise.
"He didn't play politics at all," he said of the governor, making clear that he believes those who have criticized him to be politically driven. Trump misstated Maria as a Category 5 hurricane; it was Category 4 when it hit on Puerto Rico.
"I appreciate your service and I know you appreciate ours," Trump said. "Our country has really gone all out. It's not dangerous, it's expensive. But I consider it a great honor."
Before leaving Washington, Trump said Puerto Ricans who have called the national response inadequate "have to give us more aid."
Large-scale protests against Trump failed to materialize by early afternoon, with only a few knots of people.
As he led out from the White House to go to the island, Trump told reporters that "it's now acknowledged what a great job we have done."
The excursion is Trump's fourth to regions ravaged by storms during an unusually violent hurricane season that has also seen parts of Texas, Florida, Louisiana and the U.S. Virgin Islands inundated by floodwaters and hit by high winds.
Trump's trip follows a weekend where he had pushed back against critics, including Cruz. He had responded angrily on Twitter, deriding the "poor leadership capability by the Mayor of San Juan, and many others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help."
"They need everything to be done for them when it ought to be a community effort," he added, scoffing at "politically motivated ingrates" who had criticized the national work, and insisting that "tremendous progress" was being made.
Cruz had begged the government to "make sure someone is in charge that's up to the task of saving lives" and stated national inefficiency was killing people.
Trump and his wife also visited Navy and Marine Corps personnel on the flight deck of the USS Kearsarge.
Even before the storm hit on Sept. 20, Puerto Rico was in dire state thanks to a decade-long economic recession that had left its infrastructure, including the island's power lines, in a sorry state. Maria was the most powerful hurricane to hit the island in a century and unleashed floods and mudslides that knocked out the entire electrical grid and telecommunications, together with roads of the island.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said more than 10,000 federal officials are on the floor on the island, and 45 percent of customers now have access to drinking water. Businesses are also starting with 60 percent of retail gas stations up and running.
