1983 is testing my seam removal abilities…
I do like how chonky this old Prototype Gundam kit is. Having to plot how I paint parts as I glue them together is a neat challenge, and seam removal is kind of zen???

Something I find really funny is how for all the rumors that Seed’s staff/writers don’t like Cagalli, Orb under her leadership just keeps ending up in a better (political) position with each addition - Seed Destiny ends with Logos wiped out, Blue Cosmos severely hampered, and the entire Seiran family wiped out, including Yuna. This leaves Cagalli with almost no political opposition in Orb (since the second Battle of Orb would’ve flushed out a majority of the Blue Cosmos/Logos sympathizers within the government/military), along with giving her a boost in popular and military support thanks to her actions and field leadership during the battle.
(Cutting for me just rambling on a bit about the in-universe politics after Seed Freedom)
You can tell with how much she’s managed to get done in the years between Seed Destiny and Seed Freedom - in that short year and a half to two years, she was able to propose and found COMPASS, secret away and upgrade the Impulse, Destiny, Strike Freedom, and Infinite Justice, arrange for ties between Orb and Terminal to investigate/exchange intel (Athrun and Meyrin), and put into place all the evacuation/defensive protocols in case of another attack on Orb (as seen vs Foundation and Requiem, even if she needed Kira to pull an “I lived, bitch” to Aura 😅).
And it doesn’t end there - thanks to Foundation, Cagalli arguably has an easier time internationally now, because the Eurasian Federation leadership also got hit and the Eurasian Federation, while not necessarily Blue Cosmos sympathizers like the Atlantic Federation, was very staunchly anti-PLANT, which I think would’ve caused some problems for Cagalli, especially post Seed Destiny with Lacus joining her for that broadcast.
I actually think Orb probably has fairly decent diplomatic relations with PLANT (I think Chairman Lament mostly cut off that call after everything went south in Eldore because of the whole nuke situation), especially since Lacus is COMPASS’s inaugural president, plus the time both Dearka and Waltfeld (I’m not sure if he’s in Orb or PLANT as of Seed Freedom since his silent cameo has him helping to stop the coup in PLANT in Seed Freedom) spent there. And we have a very prominent all-Coordinator team with the Yamato Team - truth be told I actually wonder how much the Earth Alliance invested into COMPASS because everything we see on screen is either contributed by Orb (Archangel, Murrue and crew, Kira, Mu, and the Murasame Kais), PLANT/ZAFT (Millenium, Konoe and crew, Heinlein, Shinn, Lunamaria, Agnes, Gelgoog, and Gyan), or arguably both (namely, Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice). Unless I missed a minor crew member along the way. Which is possible.
Also pure speculation on my part on this - but the fact Seed Freedom has Athrun going into intelligence with Terminal (which we first see as having a presence in the PLANTS) from the Orb side and Yzak and Dearka going into intelligence from the PLANT side can’t be a coincidence. I want to think the three of them decided on it together because being in intelligence/covert ops gives them the chance to work together without having to force anyone to change their current loyalties - I don’t think Athrun can be truly loyal to anyone except Cagalli after Seed Destiny, and Yzak was always loyal to PLANT, and if Dearka hadn’t been captured and made to realize how extreme PLANT had become under Patrick Zala he wouldn’t have switched sides to Orb/Three Ships Alliance during Seed either. Which also indirectly feeds into Orb and PLANT having better political relations than Orb and Earth Alliance.
Which brings me to my final point - I would be very surprised if Orb isn’t the primary target for the antagonists in a Seed Freedom sequel. At this point Orb’s capable of doing too much with the limited resources it has as a small nation with too much military strength at its command. And there is room for a sequel (setting-wise) because while Earth Alliance took another major hit with during the Foundation Conflict, the ideologies that led to the First and Second Earth Alliance-PLANT wars still exist - even if Blue Cosmos lost another leader, even if the believers of Coordinator Supremacy lost another leader (in Jagannath) those ideologies still fundamentally exist. All the Foundation Conflict did was serve to take down the military leadership of those ideologies - even if the public on both sides see those views negatively it doesn’t make them go away.

I hope these drawings make up for it! Most of them are doodles along with a new add on to my likings! I started playing overwatch a while back and started drawing Characters I've mained before, some which are old, the Reinhart is my newest technically but its a doodle for a project 😅 I started liking prototype and one peice as well! Sorry for the mix I feel like it'll get very confusing, this would count as an art dump right?

Next up from SD Gundam G Generation:
Tumblr media
The AMX-001 Prototype Qubeley. Originally designed as the MSN-008 during the waning days of the one year war, it was one of several units that were eventually completed at Axis. It was designed to be a direct successor to the MAN-08 Elmeth (MAN: Mobile Armour Newtype to MSN: Mobile Suit Newtype), best known for its use by Lahlah Sune, the Ghost of Solomon. Though the psycommu system was largely miniaturised, the Prototype Qubeley was still a large mobile suit, being roughly 25 metres tall. For reference, the RX-78 Gundam stood at roughly 18 meters tall, and the Qubeley itself, which succeeded the Prototype, was only 18.9 meters tall.
Armaments wise, the Prototype Qubeley was armed with two beam sabers built into the hands, analogous to those on the regular Qubeley. However, though powerful, they are not removable like the later model, nor can they double as beam guns. Perhaps in recognition of this, it was also armed with Vulcan guns, mounted on the chest, presumably to dissuade enemies from getting close. Instead of the aforementioned beam guns, the Prototype Qubeley had a set of Mega Particle Cannons mounted in the forearms, which were wired directly to the suits reactor, giving them high output. Interestingly, in order to fire these weapons, the hand would fold away and the arm would split in half to form a firing channel. Lastly, it was armed with psycommu system with which it controlled its funnels, which are miniaturised from the Elmeth’s Bits in both form and function. (It appears in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Define (below) with a funnel design similar to that of the Qubeley, but in the original game, Sd Gundam G Generation F, they appear as smaller versions of the Elmeth’s). Interestingly, the rear of the Prototype Qubeley where the Funnels are stored does resemble a smaller Elmeth.

(Piloted by Haman, obviously)
Design-wise, really good. The powder blue and yellow and red really make it pop, and it certainly feels Zeonic, with its slim, mono-eyed head and little crown. I like its bulk, since it’s a transition between the round Elmenth to the elegant Qubeley, so it being a little ungainly fits very well, and yet all the spikes and pointy bits give it a good silhouette. My only criticism is that I can’t for the life of me figure out where its waist goes. The above-left picture of it from Z-Define just looks too hunched to me, but its official art makes its body look rather squat, atop its long and graceful legs. (Also, despite what you may think, that large yellow part just in front of the arm isn’t the mega particle cannon, it’s just the side of the chest). In a nutshell, it’s a nice design, I just wish we had more art of it, so it was a little clearer how it all fits together.
Also, wasn’t really sure where to put this, but that red and yellow panelled area on the side of the head? That apparently flashes in a rainbow when it’s charging it’s mega particle cannons, which is just a neat detail.
(Feel free to throw any more art of this thing at me, I know there’s a Gundam War Card design for it I haven’t seen)

"Calibarn" is a pretty neat wordplay, not gonna lie. With how on the nose everything is with their naming, it's very likely that it's not just a reference to The Tempest's half-monster Caliban—just like Gundam Aerial is... Aerial—but Caliburn.
Y'know, popularly known as The Sword In The Stone (even if there's lots of discussion that says Caliburn and Excalibur are the same thing).
And just like King Arthur, Suletta is looking pretty worth to pilot it...

A return to Form
I'm back from half a year of absence! I now have a degree. But anyways, lets get back to printing.
I have been wanting to make a poseable semi-articulate figure similar to Gundam since December. Now that I have the time, I can start working on the articulate parts. In this section I have lovingly dubbed:
Tumblr media
In today's episode of "Hold This Joint", we will be discussing two types of articulation; Ball and Socket and Item in Place. For examples think the Gundam hand to wrist connections for Ball and Socket, and think of majority of modern Gundam feet to ankle connections for Item in Place connections. Keep in mind that all these prints are done by a Resin 3d printer. the use of an FDM will require a much larger tolerance for everything to fit nicely together.
Ball and Socket
Tumblr media
My Initial plan for the ball and socket joint was to have a three pronged socket hole that would flex to hold the ball inside. Upon the print finishing and assemble, 2 things happened: 1. The shaft on the ball joint broke off of both models (I have printed it far too small) 2. Upon Assemble, one of the Socket's prongs broke off leaving an interesting recess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(USB drive as scale) My future designs for this will try and incorporate this broken recess into the design, as it does function nicely. Item in Place
Tumblr media
Most of this worked well, same printing issues for the shaft as the shaft on the ball joint. Besides that, the hole on the flat part of the rotor was too small (most likely adhered to the plate).
Tumblr media
What can be Learned???
Make prints larger size (they are just too small to support themselves and be easily taken off the plate)
Tolerance for the ball and socket could be tighter (by a hair)
The tolerance for the Item in place was prefect

1/100 scale HDM-04 “GARBALDY” or “GARIBALDI” (painted), 2008 This design borns in 2007 as my personal version of a sort of Zion unit of Gundam Universe. It started as a modification of a 1/100 scale Goblin (see in “Pubblication” section if you like to see this model), then I’ve decided to create almost everything from scratch. Creation of the master lasted almost 5 months of hard sculpting work and it was the first time i’ve used lathe to create several round shapes like spikes on shoulders, gun and thrusters noozles, sturm fausts, gun’s barrel and other pieces. Once completed it’s about 24 cm (10 inches) tall and it’s composed by 150 resin parts circa. The master (prototype) was made out of Milliput Superfine, Plasticard, Evergreen bars, model kit parts and common every-day-objects, all melted together with Epoxy Putty and super-glue. The master (prototype) was made out of Milliput Superfine, Plasticard, Evergreen bars, model kit parts and common every-day-objects, all melted together with Epoxy Putty and super-glue. He got lots of modifications during the years and was limited-producted many time as a resin kit for Kallamity Productions.

More Gundam Indra and N°3/Marleen. I drew over parts of both Zowort and Pharact to settle on a design that gives that "inebtween" prototype feel - using technology the company had already developed but adding something new on top that's not quite finalized yet. Unwell ramblings below, as usual.
FP/A-67 Indra was developed as a test prototype for the GUND format, including the Corax system - the MS comes with 6 stun beam GUND bits, which were later implemented into FP/A-77 Pharact. 12 more bits were added to the latter MS to achieve denser attack patterns in effort to make it a combat-ready MS.
Due to the increased number of GUND bits to control, higher output armaments and the permet link not being optimized for her brain implants as it was in Indra, N°3's seizures returned 8 times out of 10 upon reaching permet score 4 in Pharact and eventually outside the MS as well. Because of the toll the data storm was already taking on her body and not being able to pilot the Pharact reliably, she was "discontinued" and sent back to Peil's research facility. The position of the company's main test pilot was passed down to N°4.

Hey, does anyone have any opinions on Gundam Ecole Du Ciel? I’m kind of toying with getting back into it after having bounced off the first time.
(I know the prototype Kämpfer’s in it, but that’s really the only thing of note I remember).
