For anyone who is concerned with the websites up top, here's something I finally found online from the Vermont State Gov Site. (My state managed to hide theirs so far down the rabbit hole it took me a whole lot longer to find it, but here it is for NM if you need it.)
Fraud Protection
Beware of Fraudulent Offers
Some companies and Web sites ask you to pay before assisting you with the recovery of your unclaimed property. While there are legitimate services available to assist you - heir finders and asset locators - for a fee, it is important to remember that the State of Vermont never charges a fee for you to reclaim your money. Click here to search Vermont's unclaimed property database now. The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators provides free search tools for locating lost assets throughout the United States and in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and several Canadian provinces. It also has endorsed www.MissingMoney.com, as a viable search tool. You can also visit the US Government's Unclaimed Property website.
Bottom-line: before paying anyone to locate your property, first contact the State Treasurer Office.
Fraud-Prevention Tips
Educate yourself about the company involved. Never heard of the business or person with whom you intend to do business? Research them: contact the Better Business Bureau, any relevant licensing agency, your bank or credit union, an attorney or law enforcement agency.
Read and fully understand any business agreement prior to signing it and initiating any process.
Be cautious of any business having only a post office box or mail drop as its address location.
Beware of businesses requiring you to sign non-disclosure or non-circumvention agreements that prevent you from verifying the identity of the people with whom you are considering doing business.
Also suggest using the Better Business Bureau website, your local state or county's website, and looking up the WhoIs of a business' website to prove legitimacy. For what it's worth, I full-stopped on the above when it asked for SSN and I was like ahahaha no. Except, ya know, the website I was on is actually legit apparently for my state, which I eventually found. But it was cause for pause.
Protect yourself out there and go get your unclaimed money, fam! <3
Are you in the USA? I cannot stress this enough: search your state's unclaimed property site to see if there is anything in your name.
I just got a check for nearly $900 that I didn't know about. Apparently it was sent to me at the end of 2019 and I never got it, so it was sent on to Unclaimed Property.
My friend checked the state he used to live in. He didn't have any unclaimed property of his own. But his dad, who died 20 years ago, had over $10,000 in unclaimed property. My friend is the heir, so he gets that money.
It involves a little paperwork to get the money but it's so worth it!
You can search ALL states using MissingMoney.com. And I recommend that you search ALL states - sometimes you might get a surprise about post property in another state (as my friend did with his dad!)

handsonluc:
It’d been a while since Luc had shifted, letting their bear out in the world to do what animals do best. Just like a pet, a shifter’s animal required enrichment and socialization, and it was starting to show in Luc’s temperament that they had not been very attentive to the bear’s needs. The short fuse, his anxious smoking habit, the incessant craving for sushi, they were all indicative of an impending, involuntary shift. At least, it would be, if he didn’t give it what it wanted soon.
Eager to placate it, Luc put the finishing touches on some smaller projects around the campus and called it an early day, opting for a hike up in the North Shore. Which, according to the campus map, should have been secluded enough to provide them with a little bit of privacy.  Finding a nice bit of wilderness, Luc stripped down from his thermal wear, shivering involuntarily from the brisk winter breeze. “The shit I do for you,” he huffed under his breath, getting down to his birthday suit. Just as quickly as they’d undressed, Luc changed, his comparatively smaller frame giving way to his massive bear form. It wasn’t a painful process, at least not anymore, and if it ever had been, the memory was lost on him. Bounding through the tufts of snow like a kid on a snow day, Luc wandered through the dense forest, leaping through soft mounds of snow until they came upon a clearing. Curious, the bear stalked further onto the property, cautiously at first, and then determined when they spotted a nice little patio set they could curl up on for a bit. The snow was clear here, and with the bit of respite it provided from the snow, the bear decided it would be a lovely little place for a nap. When Luc woke up several hours later, it was to the sound of someone gently trying to shoo him. His first human thought was that engaging with a bear was kind of stupid. His second, that he should probably change before they decided to take more drastic measures. Snatching up the long lounge chair cushion, the bear wrapped it around his waist and shrunk down to Luc’s much more modest six foot four frame. “Sorry, uh…” Luc held onto the cushion for dear life. “...don’t call the police?”
Tumblr media
Well...this was a bloody first. Ciaran had been on the island long enough that there wasn't a lot of weird-ass shit that actually managed to surprise him, but this did. It wasn't every day that a bloke came back from a run to find a fucking bear asleep on this front porch. He thanked his stars that the dogs and Mr. Feathers had apparently had the smarts to stay away, then approached the what he assumed was a shifter. "Mate..ya wanna wake the fuck up now?" He muttered, nudging the creature once more with a flip-flop clad toe before taking a big step back to prepare for whatever the hell was going to happen next.
The wolf watched with arched brows as the bear shifted back into a form that, well...he really didn't have a problem with. Lips twitched before curving into a downright cheeky smile as he watched the man, unable to resist giving him some kind of shit. "I dunno" Ciaran shrugged, scratching his unruly raven locks. "Ya are tresspassin' ya know. May have to give me a reason to not" He teased, before letting out a good-natured laugh.
"Just takin' the piss love. C'mon in before ya freeze to fuckin' death. Got somethin' that'll probably fit ya if ya want." He himself was clad in only a pair of worn sweats and a white tee, a nod to the magical weather as he usually only came back from his runs in boxers. Gym shorts if he was feeling fancy. Opening the door to his cabin, he invited the other in with an incline of his head.

Choosing the Right Property Developers in UAE: A Comprehensive Guide
Understanding Your Needs and Goals
Before embarking on your journey to find the right property developer in the UAE, it's crucial to define your needs and goals. Are you an investor looking for high returns, or are you seeking a dream home that encapsulates luxury and comfort? Having a clear understanding of your objectives will guide you towards developers who align with your vision.
Research and Reputation
Research forms the bedrock of your decision-making process. Look into the track record of potential property developers. Have they successfully delivered projects on time and within budget? Are there any reported disputes or legal issues associated with their developments? A developer's reputation within the industry and among clients speaks volumes about their professionalism and reliability.
Portfolio Analysis
A developer's portfolio is a window into their capabilities and design aesthetics. Scrutinize their previous projects to assess the quality of construction, attention to detail, and uniqueness of their offerings. A diverse portfolio showcasing various types of properties is an indicator of a developer's adaptability and innovation.
Financial Stability and Transparency
Investing in real estate is a substantial financial commitment. It's essential to choose a developer with sound financial stability. Transparency in financial dealings, pricing, and contract terms is non-negotiable. Verify the developer's adherence to local regulations and ethical business practices.
Innovative Approach
The UAE is synonymous with innovation and modernity. Seek out developers who embrace cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in their projects. An environmentally conscious developer not only contributes positively to the community but also ensures the longevity and value of your investment.
Customer Reviews and Testimonials

Engage with individuals who have invested in developments by your shortlisted developers. Their firsthand experiences will offer valuable insights into the developer's communication, project management, and after-sales service.
Navigating the UAE Property Development Landscape
Local vs. International Developers
The UAE property development landscape features a mix of local and international developers. Local developers often possess an in-depth understanding of local regulations and cultural nuances, while international developers bring a global perspective and diverse design influences. Consider which aspect aligns better with your investment goals.
Community and Infrastructure
A property's value is significantly influenced by its surrounding community and infrastructure. Investigate the developer's approach to creating integrated communities with amenities such as schools, parks, and shopping centers. Proximity to transport hubs, business districts, and leisure facilities also plays a crucial role in determining a property's desirability.
Legal Due Diligence
Before finalizing your choice, conduct thorough legal due diligence. Consult legal experts to review contracts, ownership structures, and any legal implications associated with the development. A clear legal framework safeguards your investment and minimizes potential risks.
Sustainability and Future-Proofing
Sustainability has become a cornerstone of modern property development, and the UAE is no exception. As the world grapples with environmental challenges, responsible development practices have gained prominence. When choosing Top Property Developers UAE, consider their commitment to sustainability. Green building practices, energy-efficient designs, and the integration of renewable energy sources not only contribute to a healthier environment but also enhance the long-term value of your investment. Developers who prioritize sustainable features showcase their forward-thinking approach and understanding of the changing demands of the market.
Market Trends and Demand Dynamics
The UAE's real estate market is dynamic and influenced by various economic factors. Understanding the prevailing market trends and demand dynamics is crucial before making a decision. Property developers who are attuned to market shifts and have a proven track record of identifying and responding to emerging trends are more likely to offer projects that align with evolving consumer preferences. Whether it's a shift towards larger living spaces due to remote work trends or a growing demand for sustainable communities, developers who anticipate and cater to these trends can provide a competitive advantage.
Financial Planning and Return on Investment
Investing in property is often driven by the expectation of returns on investment. Different developers offer varied financial structures, payment plans, and rental yield projections. It's essential to align your financial planning with the investment's potential returns. Carefully review the developer's projected return on investment figures and evaluate their accuracy against historical data. Additionally, analyze the payment plan's feasibility and whether it aligns with your financial capabilities.
Communication and Transparency
Effective communication is the cornerstone of a successful developer-investor relationship. During the evaluation process, assess the developer's communication practices. Transparent communication regarding project timelines, updates, and potential challenges instills confidence in the development process. Developers who engage in regular updates and transparent reporting demonstrate a commitment to building trust and ensuring the investor is well-informed at every stage.
The Cultural Context
The UAE is a diverse and multicultural country, and this cultural tapestry is often reflected in its architectural landscape. Some developers specialize in designs that resonate with specific cultural themes, while others focus on modern, international aesthetics. Consider how a developer's design philosophy aligns with your personal preferences and the cultural context of the region. A development that harmonizes with the local culture can create a more immersive living experience.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right property developers in UAE is a multi-faceted process that requires careful consideration of various factors. As the country continues to evolve and redefine luxury living, property developers play an integral role in shaping this transformation. By conducting thorough research, assessing reputations, evaluating portfolios, and understanding market trends, you can navigate the landscape with confidence. Ultimately, the selection of a developer is not just an investment decision; it's a step toward owning a piece of the UAE's captivating urban story, a story of innovation, opulence, and the pursuit of architectural excellence.

How Do Expats Navigate the Apartment Rental Process in Abu Dhabi?
Tumblr media
Finding apartments in Abu Dhabi can be an exciting yet challenging process for expats. The city’s vibrant economy, rich culture, and high quality of life attract thousands of international residents each year, but the rental market can be complex to navigate, especially for newcomers.
Understanding the Apartment Rental Market in Abu Dhabi
The first step in finding the perfect Abu Dhabi apartment is to understand the city’s real estate market. Knowing how the rental process works, what to expect in terms of cost, and the standard lease agreements will give you a solid foundation to start your search.
Typical Rent Prices and Costs
Rental prices for apartments in Abu Dhabi can vary greatly depending on the neighborhood, apartment size, and building amenities. For example, luxury apartments in downtown areas like Al Maryah Island or Saadiyat Island command higher prices, while neighborhoods like Khalifa City offer more affordable options.
Most rental agreements require an upfront payment, typically in the form of post-dated checks. This could mean paying the entire year's rent in one or a few installments, so be prepared for a significant financial commitment.
Additional costs to budget for include maintenance fees, utilities, and, in some cases, property management fees.
Lease Terms and Legal Requirements
Lease agreements in Abu Dhabi apartments are typically set for one year, and breaking a lease early may incur penalties. Understanding the terms in advance can prevent costly surprises.
Expats are required to provide a range of documents, including a residency visa and Emirates ID. For those new to the UAE, you may need assistance from your employer or a relocation service to complete these requirements.
Tenancy contracts in Abu Dhabi should be registered with the Abu Dhabi Municipality. This helps protect tenant rights and ensure the legal standing of the lease.
Finding Trusted Real Estate Agents and Online Listings
Hiring a reputable real estate agent can simplify the rental process. Agents in Abu Dhabi often specialize in certain neighborhoods and can provide valuable insights and listings that may not be available online.
There are also multiple property portals where you can browse Abu Dhabi apartments for sale or rent, filtering by location, price, and amenities. Make sure to verify the credibility of online listings to avoid scams or outdated information.
Choosing the Right Neighborhood for Your Lifestyle
Abu Dhabi has a diverse range of neighborhoods, each with its unique characteristics. When looking for apartments in Abu Dhabi, choosing a neighborhood that aligns with your lifestyle and daily needs can make a significant difference in your experience.
Proximity to Work and Amenities
For those working in the business districts, areas like Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island, and the Corniche offer close proximity to commercial hubs, which can reduce commute times.
Families often prefer neighborhoods like Khalifa City and Al Raha Beach, which have more extensive schooling options, parks, and family-friendly amenities.
For those who enjoy an active lifestyle, the Saadiyat and Yas Islands offer high-end recreational facilities, access to beaches, and cultural attractions.
Public Transport and Accessibility
Abu Dhabi’s public transport system includes buses and taxis, though it’s worth noting that certain neighborhoods are better connected than others. Downtown areas generally have more transport options compared to suburban regions.
If you don’t plan to own a car, consider neighborhoods with easy access to bus routes or close proximity to your workplace to avoid lengthy commutes.
Some Abu Dhabi apartments offer shuttle services or are within walking distance of amenities, which can be an added convenience.
Understanding Community Vibe and Expat Communities
Some areas in Abu Dhabi, like Al Khalidiyah and Al Bateen, are known for their diverse and lively expat communities. Living in these neighborhoods can provide a sense of community, with opportunities to meet other expats and participate in social events.
Areas like the Corniche have a mix of locals and expatriates and provide beautiful views, waterfront activities, and a bustling social scene.
Each neighborhood has a different character, and visiting them before making a decision can help you choose a location that aligns with your lifestyle and preferences.
Steps to Finalizing Your Apartment Rental Agreement
Once you’ve found the right Abu Dhabi apartment, it’s essential to understand the steps involved in finalizing the rental agreement. Having a clear understanding of these procedures will make the process smoother and help avoid common pitfalls.
Negotiating Lease Terms and Conditions
Negotiating lease terms is often possible in Abu Dhabi apartments rentals, particularly in less competitive markets. You may be able to negotiate on rent installments, maintenance clauses, and minor modifications to the apartment.
Discuss the maintenance responsibilities with your landlord to avoid confusion later on. Some landlords may be responsible for major repairs, while minor maintenance could be the tenant’s responsibility.
If you need to modify certain aspects of the apartment, such as adding new fixtures or changing the decor, ensure these are written into the lease agreement to avoid any disputes later.
Security Deposits and Post-Dated Checks
Security deposits are typically required when renting apartments in Abu Dhabi. These deposits are usually refundable, provided there are no damages at the end of the lease term.
Post-dated checks for rent are the standard payment method in Abu Dhabi. Tenants are required to provide checks for the entire year’s rent, which may be split into two or four payments, depending on the agreement.
Ensure you receive a receipt for all payments made, as this can help resolve any payment disputes that may arise.
Registering the Lease and Utilities Setup
Registering your tenancy contract with the Abu Dhabi Municipality is a mandatory step for tenants. This registration process ensures the lease’s legal validity and provides protection under local tenancy laws.
Utilities in Abu Dhabi, such as water and electricity, are provided by the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC). Tenants must open an account with ADDC before moving in, and some buildings may require a security deposit for these services.
Internet and telecom services are provided by local providers like Etisalat and Du. Setting up these services can be straightforward, but it’s advisable to contact the providers in advance to ensure a smooth move-in process.
Final Thoughts on Renting an Apartment in Abu Dhabi
Navigating the apartment rental process in Abu Dhabi as an expat can be a rewarding journey, offering a chance to experience one of the Middle East’s most vibrant cities. By understanding the rental market, choosing the right neighborhood, and familiarizing yourself with the steps to finalize a lease, you can secure a home that fits your needs and lifestyle. When considering your options, remember that Abu Dhabi apartments for sale may also be an attractive choice for those planning to stay long-term. The city’s property market offers both rental and ownership opportunities, catering to a range of preferences and budgets.

Return Notice

Summary: A donation to the library gives Belle insight into the mysterious Mr. Gold.
A/N: This is a @rumbellesecretsanta gift fic for @lotus0kid. Their prompt was: If found, please return to... Lotus, I'm sorry this is late. Real life stuff got in the way. I hope this answers your prompt.
* * *
The box was directly in front of the library doors, where she couldn’t possibly miss it. “For donation” was written in large letters across the top. Christmas Eve seemed like a strange time to donate books to the library, Belle thought. The building wasn’t even open today; she was only here for a moment, to pick up a gift that she’d been hiding in her desk for weeks.
She leaned over the box so she could unlock the library doors, then managed to push it inside. It was a large box, and quite heavy. Flipping on a light, she opened the box to peruse the contents.
She could tell at first glance that many of the books were for children. Several well-known board books caught her eye, worn and frayed from a toddler’s rough treatment. There were beginning readers, chapter books of the sort read by middle school children, and YA novels. With the exception of the well-gnawed baby books, they all seemed to be in excellent condition.
She picked up a copy of The Velveteen Rabbit and opened it. On the inside cover was a sticker. If found, please return to Baeden Gold, it read. The name had been filled in with careful childish print.
Gold?
The only Gold she knew of in town was Mr. Gold, the forbidding man who owned and ran the pawn shop across the street. He also owned most of the property in town, but those two facts made up nearly the sum total of what she knew about him. He seemed to take pride in keeping to himself; the only time he interacted with other humans was when he was collecting rent or conducting business in his shop.
Curiosity piqued, Belle flipped through the book in her hands, and then immediately went back to the front, where handwriting had caught her eye. On the blank page preceding the copyright information, there was a note.
Dear Bae,
You are the only reason that I ever became Real.
Love always, your Papa.
Belle read the inscription a second time, her eyes filling up with tears. Mr. Gold had a son? One that he loved very much, if this note was anything to go by. Yet she’d never heard anyone speak of the man having a son, or any family at all.
She picked up another book at random, and flipped through it. A photograph fell out, and it confirmed her guess. It showed Mr. Gold, younger than she’d ever seen him, holding a small boy by the hand. Written on the back in the same handwriting she’d seen in the book, it said, Papa and Bae, age four.
She tucked the picture back in, and turned to the front of the book. Another label with the name Baeden Gold, and on the next page, another note.
Dear Bae,
I know you long for more adventure than Storybrooke can give you. Till you grow up and go out into the world seeking your own adventures, perhaps you can live vicariously through stories like this.
Love, Papa
She turned the book over to see the title. Treasure Island. Plenty of adventure to be had in that one. Had it been enough to satisfy a young Baeden, as his father hoped?
She chose several more books at random, finding the same name labels and handwritten notes in each of them. If there was one thing Belle French knew about, it was books. And she could see Bae’s entire life documented in this box. These books had been chosen with care, starting when the baby was too young to focus on the pages, continuing through childhood, and ending – as far as Belle could ascertain – when the boy became a young adult. Till he left home, perhaps? Why had he never come back? She was sure she would have been aware if Mr. Gold had a son who visited.
She looked out the window to the pawn shop across the street, where the lights were still on. Everyone knew that Mr. Gold stayed open late on Christmas Eve, and even opened on Christmas Day, for those last minute shoppers each year. That wasn’t the only reason, she realized now, standing there with the box of books at her feet. Mr. Gold stayed open all the time because he had no one to go home to. He’d clearly had a family, once, but not in her lifetime.
Why would he give away the books of a son that he clearly loved?
Without stopping to think about it, she snatched the first book she’d looked at from the box again, and crossed the street.
The bell above the door jingled as she entered the shop. Inside, the warmth welcomed her. She’d forgotten to put her coat back on when she left the library.
Belle stopped in the middle of the room and looked around. She hadn’t been here for years, not since she’d accompanied her father on the day that he asked for a loan from Mr. Gold. The visit had been fraught with tension, and soon after that, her father warned her to always stay away from Mr. Gold. As a good and dutiful daughter, she’d done so… until this moment.
The tap of a cane warned of the man’s arrival, before the man himself came through the curtain that separated the showroom from the back of the shop. His eyebrows raised as he regarded her with interest.
“Miss French. You’re not one of my Christmas Eve regulars.” He planted himself behind the counter.
“You have regulars for that?” Belle asked, distracted from her mission by the thought of people who consistently waited till Christmas Eve to buy gifts.
“Indeed I do, but I would not have expected it of you.”
“And what makes you think you know me?” she asked, curious. “We’ve never even had a conversation before now.”
“I make it my business to know about everyone in this town, Miss French. Surely a librarian would agree with the saying that knowledge is power.”
His dark eyes bored into hers, and she was suddenly reminded that she was dealing with the most powerful man in town. Had she made a mistake, coming here?
“I’m not here to shop,” Belle said, speaking before she could lose her nerve. “I came to ask you a question.”
He regarded her for a moment before giving an elegant wave of his hand.
“By all means, proceed. I confess to some curiosity about what question could be so urgent that you’d accost me in my shop on Christmas Eve.”
Belle walked up to the counter and placed The Velveteen Rabbit on its glass top.
“Why are you trying to give away all your son’s books?”
At sight of the book, Mr. Gold went eerily still, his face guarded. When he spoke, his voice was softer than before, yet there was a subtle threat in his tone. A warning.
“My reasons are not your concern, Miss French. I donated books to the library. Shelve them for others to borrow, or throw them in the rubbish bin, but don’t bring them back here.”
He turned and moved away, aiming for the curtain again. Belle sensed that if he walked through that curtain, that she’d have missed her chance forever.
“Why are you trying to forget the only person who’s ever loved you?”
He spun around, snarling, and Belle took a step back from his obvious wrath.
“What would you know about who loved me?”
Gathering her courage, Belle tapped the book cover. “The only reason you became real,” she reminded him.
He closed his eyes, and looked… embarrassed?
“I forgot that I wrote in that,” he murmured.
“You wrote in all of them,” Belle said. “At least, the several that I looked at.”
He moved closer again, but slowly, like his burst of anger had tired him.
“Every year for his birthday, and again at Christmas,” he said, in a near-whisper. “No matter what other gifts he received, I would always give him a new book. I would write a note in it. Even before he could read, I wrote those notes.”
He laid a hand on the book, gingerly, as if it might burn him. Belle waited, but no further information was forthcoming.
“That sounds like a wonderful tradition,” she said finally. “I’m sure Bae appreciated it.”
“I thought he did… till I lost him.” His hand withdrew, clenched into a fist.
“I’m so sorry for your loss.”
“He’s not dead. I said he was lost to me.” He was still looking at his hand on the book, but his eyes were unfocused. Was he remembering all the times he’d read this book to his son?
What had she been thinking, barging into his shop and bringing up painful memories?
He removed his hand suddenly, stepping back and resuming his formal manner like a well-fitted suit.
“Miss French, I’ve changed my mind about donating the books to the library.”
She nodded. “I understand. I’ll see that the entire box is returned to you after the holiday, when I’ll have help carrying it.”
“No, I don’t think you do understand. I don’t want the books back. I want them destroyed. You must have a system in place for that.”
“Destroy them?” she asked in horror. The very notion of destroying perfectly good books was a sacrilege to her.
“I’ll pay you for your services,” he offered.
“I don’t… no. I don’t want your money,” she stumbled over the words.
“I need a guarantee that no one will ever see these books, Miss French. Or what they contain. Destroying them will ensure that.”
“What they–” And suddenly, she understood. The words she’d meant to say, died on her tongue. She took a breath and nodded, trying for her professional librarian voice. “I understand, Mr. Gold. You have my word that no one else will ever see these books.”
“Thank you, Miss French.” He was already turning away. “If you wouldn’t mind seeing yourself out, I have work to do.”
He was gone through the curtain before Belle had moved from her spot. She picked up the book and returned to the library, where she contemplated the box by the door.
With effort, she managed to push it across the floor into her office. Using a large marker, she crossed through the existing words. Instead she wrote Property of Belle French, and taped the box firmly shut.
At the first opportunity, Belle planned to move this box to her own storage unit for safekeeping. Mr. Gold could change his mind one day, and if he did, the books would be waiting for him. In the meantime, the citizens of Storybrooke never needed to know that their town Scrooge had anything other than a lump of coal where his heart should be.
He’d been right. Knowledge was power. Belle would use her power to protect.

Z-Move with a Price (Part 2)
Tumblr media
My first attempt at a P.O.V short story; hope you enjoy!
Summary: ‘While a battle you were forced to engage in pursues, your Z-Move attempt has mysteriously backfired... and now you have to pay for the consequences.’
⚠️WARNING:⚠️ Explicit language, mild violence and gore, slight sexual preferences. Read at your own caution.
At the famous Pokémon School on Melemele Island in the tropical region of Alola, Professor Kukui was holding a session for his students as he teaches often part-time at the school when he isn’t too busy at his laboratory home at the northwestern beaches on Hau'oli Outskirts.
For the subjects he was instructing to his peers at this moment were about Fighting Type Moves. “Okay now, who can tell me what effects the Fighting type move Mach Punch can have when battling against--”
The lessons were unfortunately cut short when Kukui and the students all hear a distant, yet terrifying scream outside the large building. Kukui looks out the balcony window and sees you gripping your Bulbasaur in your arms, frantically running ahead towards the school.
With a worried look now, Kukui rushes down the school building after telling his students to stay put in the classroom, and momentarily he approaches you, then he tries to calm you down as you now have exhausted yourself from running across the school yard after sending your Gengar back to his Ultra Ball once the three of you landed safely on Melemele Island.
You not only know Professor Kukui, but you were recently hired as his assistant at both his laboratory home and at the Pokémon School; you were actually transferred to Alola by Professor Oak of Kanto for researching on his behalf of the Island Challenge that is a generational tradition that goes on in Alola.
However, now was not the time for Island Challenges or Pokemon research assisting, you’re now too frightened of what had happened back in Malie City.
“(Y/N) what’s wrong?!” Kukui asked as he tries to calm you down. “What happened to you, you look frazzled?”
Panicky, you cried with a hoarse voice. “HIDE ME, YA GOTTA HIDE ME PROFESSOR!!!!! HE’S AFTER ME!!!”
Kukui continues to calm you down and asked. “Whoa-ho, slow down cuz, who’s after you? What’re you talking about?”
Before you could manage to catch your breath to answer, you and Kukui hear a distant chant outside the school gates.
“TEAM SKULL!!! YO, YO, YO!!!”
Once more, you and your Bulbasaur screamed in terrible fright, realizing that Team Skull has somehow managed to find you after escaping Guzma. You accidently push Kukui away as you start running again while screaming.
“RRUUUUUUNNNN!!!!”
As you neared the entrance of the school, the students who were in Kukui’s class moments ago-- all the local team captains, a local but very shy peer, and an exchange student from Kanto-- Lana, Kiawe, Mallow, Sophocles, Lillie, and Ash all held looks of worry and went outside to see what the commotion was about, and following behind the students was a floating Pokedex possessed by a ghost type/electric type Pokémon called Rotom-- nicknamed Rotomdex, which in Alola has the ability to record information about any Pokémon known so far.
Momentarily all the children and Rotomdex were suddenly breezed by by you who kept focused on hiding inside the school for protection. The kids manage to shrug off the sudden whizzing of you running inside the school, but felt confused to what was going on.
“Oh my, I wonder what could be troubling (Y/N)?” Lillie asked with a concerned voice.
“Whatever it is, it’s certainly chilling her to the bone.” Kiawe remarked as well.
The kids then hear the chanting of voices coming closer and nearing the gateway of the schoolyard. They rush within a few feet of Kukui’s location as he stands his ground; Team Skull made their way into the property, but this group was in smaller numbers and lead by another leader; she was almost the same height as Kukui, lean in appearance, four long pink and yellow pigtails tied with skull shaped hair pieces, wearing a similar set of clothes like black sweatpants with white zigzag lines on each sleeve, white sneakers, black tanktop with a cross wrap around her exposing waist with her lower abdomen tattooed with a large s-shaped skull (as it is the distinguished logo of Team Skull itself), and her accessories were only a small silver skull necklace and a black and white zigzag stripe wristband on her left wrist.
The Team Skull administrator-- Plumeria-- orders the grunts to stand down for the time being while she approaches closer to Professor Kukui as he too stands in defense of what it is to come, but readies himself to hear what Plumeria had to say.
“So Kukui, where ya hiding her?” She asked with a calm and collected voice.
“Why are you even scaring her like this?” Kukui asked in a similar tone. “(Y/N) hasn’t done anything wrong-- to anyone or Pokémon alike.”
“Funny you had to mention that; but seriously, no one has meant to scare her, we just want her to come out and face her mistakes.”
“What did she even do to you to make you go out on a wild goose chase for her?”
“That’s something you’ll have to ask Guzma yourself once he gets here to come fetch (Y/N); this is between only him and her to work out.”
“I don’t understand.”
“No, of course you wouldn’t; but I guess that’s because she hasn’t told you what exactly happened back at Malie City, did she?”
Kukui just stood there with a continuous look of bewilderment.
The students and Rotom couldn’t help but overhear the conversation for several more minutes until one of the female grunts looks over at the schoolyard gateway and calls out for Plumeria.
“Bis Sis, look! It’s the Boss!” She cried with an excited tone.
Everyone looks onward to see Guzma finally arriving with four more grunts escorting him, with nearly the entire organization all gathered to witness some sort of showdown between Guzma himself and of course you. Guzma still held a discontented look of determination, expecting any results his second in command may have gotten so far; Kukui however would once again make a confrontation as he asks Guzma of the current situation.
“Plumeria was just explaining how (Y/N) managed something horrible while she was battling against you. Is this really true, especially coming from you? What exactly did (Y/N) do during the battle that made you want to chase her?”
There was a slight moment of silence, but an eerie one at that; Guzma looks up at Kukui despite how annoying he is to him, but Kukui isn’t the focus-- for now-- as his emotions of anger, fury, hatred, but most of all a glimmer of anguish and gloom wells up inside him as he slowly starts to pull out his prized pokeball to reveal something even he wouldn’t expect, especially after whatever occurred at Malie City.
“What did she do?” Guzma provoked as his voice turned up louder while pulling out his pokeball. “What. Did SHE. DO?!?”
“I’LL SHOW YOU WHAT SHE DID!!!!!”
Guzma’s pokeball opens and out comes one of the most gruesome and grisly appearances on a Pokémon anyone has ever seen.
There it was, Guzma’s most prized and beloved Golisopod; lying weakly on the ground with multiple pieces of his shells torn off, blood seeping through the cracks of what’s supposed to be his tough as diamonds armor, scratches that were nearly deep to his veins, one or two of his small legs were torn from the ligaments, his claws were deeply chipped and torn, and on of his long feelers on the top of his head were bent and bleeding.
The poor thing was literally dying!
Just the sheer appearance of the Golisopod in this gory mess made a couple of the students feel nauseous-- especially poor Sophocles who turned to a nearby bush and threw up after seeing such a gruesome sight. It was all indefinitely too much to take in as a reality, but if this is what you truly did to this Golisopod, then what is wrong with you to do such a horrific crime like this?
Kukui couldn’t believe it either, but there was Golisopod in his most vulnerable and bloodied appearance he’s never seen before. He cries out to one of the students to go fetch an emergency kit while asking Guzma once more.
“How did this happen?!”
Almost immediately Guzma answered with a stern voice. “It was one of her precious Z-Moves that did this!”
“A Z-Move? No way!” Ash remarked as he remembers the last time he fought Guzma with a Z-Move, which brings Rotomdex to recall the memory.
“Bzzztt! But that’s Impozzzible; the lazzt time Ash used a Z-Move against Golisopod, it withstood the attack! How did (Y/N)’s Z-Move managed-- THIZZZ?!? DOES NOT COMPUTE!”
“This is EXACTLY what happens when you rely on old trials and traditions a little too much!” Guzma provoked. “You think Z-Moves can solve all your problems? Take a real good look kids; you don’t use your moves properly, this is what happens!”
Kukui stops Guzma from his exasperation while one of the students comes back with the emergency kit, but somehow, Kukui thought, Guzma may be right on this one-- at least when it comes to the possibility that using Z-Moves may result in a literal cataclysmic backfire during a battle, especially with the battle you and Guzma apparently went through.
While tending to some of Golisopod’s wounds, and feeding some healing berries to keep his strength up, Mallow asks Guzma with slight annoyance in her tone. “Why don’t you take your Golisopod to the Pokemon Center? Why get (Y/N) involved in all this if this was just an accident?”
“Like I said to your teacher here,” Plumeria remarked. “This is between (Y/N) and Guzma only;” She looks up at Kukui once more as she mentions with a slight mock about a code of honor between trainers and Pokémon.
“Since (Y/N) is the one responsible for Golisopod’s condition, shouldn’t she at least take action along with his trainer to take care and help heal Golisopod? Especially when after using a backfired Z-Move to cause all this?”
Kukui held an annoyed look by Plumeria’s explanation, but at the same time she’s right; you may have done nothing too illegal in the Pokemon battle against Guzma, but whatever triggered your move to a nearly unstable condition for Golisopod to go through right now, it is you who have to take the responsibility for this damage, even if it’s for bad people like Team Skull-- and their leader, Guzma.
Plumeria orders the grunts to leave the school property along with her as she tells Guzma. “We’ll meet you at the Pokémon Center in Iki Town once you get (Y/N) out of hiding, Boss.”
Once Plumeria and the grunts leave, Kukui stares down at the bloody Golisopod in worry, and then looks back up at Guzma with a stern expression as he spoke once more.
“You will be taking your Golisopod to the Pokémon Center, will you?”
“Of course I will;” Guzma interrupted with an obvious answer, and with deep concern for Golisopod’s health, knowing full well how strong his beloved fighter is despite holding on for dear life; and while he was secretly grateful the kids manage to pitch in with the attention, he still held a deep loathing of you as he continued. “But not until (Y/N) gets her ass out here, sees the mess she’s caused, and take full responsibility for this!”
Kukui sighed. “Alright, at least let me have a talk with (Y/N); I’ll see if I can manage to bring her out here without you trying to scare her off again.”
While Kukui returns to the school building, the students continued to help Golisopod keep his strength up with the emergency healing kit nearing empty of its supplies, and Guzma stands where Kukui was, patiently waiting for him to return with you by his side.
----------
Kukui rushes upstairs to his classroom in hopes to find you hidden somewhere; he looks around, calling out your name a few times, and momentarily you make a small squeak of where you’re hiding as you hear Kukui’s voice. Kukui looks under the main desk and finds you with your legs curled up and your Bulbasaur nestling close to you for comfort and to calm you while you both hide from the wrath that is Guzma.
Kukui kneels on one knee and explains the whole situation that had happened earlier. “Guzma and Plumeria told me you did something horrible while performing a Z-Move during a battle; but I want to hear it from you (Y/N), is this really true, did you cause Golisopod to be in this... well, a bloody mess?”
The images of the injured Golisopod and the events that happened at Malie City haunts you deeply; you still don’t know what or how it happened, but it did, and by the sheer frightful and regretful look you give to Kukui, he now realizes the truth; that Golisopod’s dying is your fault.
“... So it is true?!” Kukui asked with shock in his eyes.
You try to explain yourself with tears welling up in your eyes but you try to fight off the crying, and knowing now that running away will not make this situation go away. “I-I don’t even know what happened; I-I didn’t mean to, it was an accident, I was only--” You trembled once more as the image of Golisopod being threateningly destroyed by the explosion of you Z-Move creeps back to you. “Oh Arceus, what have I done?! I-I didn’t know-- Guzma may be an ass, but I didn’t want this-- I-I d-didn’t even think this would actually happen-- I-I didn’t...”
Kukui tries to calm you down as well as your Bulbasaur purrs and coos to make you comfortable again. Momentarily you instinctively apologize to Kukui.
“I-I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
Kukui rejects with a reply, but with only a small regret to what was obvious. “No, don’t apologize to me (Y/N); it’s Guzma you should apologize to.”
You look up at your mentor after he mention’s Guzma, now feeling more nervous than ever before.
----------
Outside the campus, Guzma still stands partially impatient for you to come out of the school to face him and his dying Golisopod, while the students manage to help what could be done for Guzma’s Golisopod before he would be transferred back to his pokeball for the Pokemon Center later. Then, one of the students notice Kukui walking out of the building with your Bulbasaur following by his side, and also you who walk behind him so you couldn’t really see Guzma eye to eye just yet, but Guzma knows you’re there and well on your way towards him.
Once you and Kukui stopped within a foot of Guzma, Kukui tells the students to go ahead and back away from Golisopod so Guzma could prepare the transfer back to the pokeball, and you needing to apologize. Kukui guides you to step closer to Guzma despite you have a bad feeling where this is going next; but you try to buck up, inch closer to the intimidating gang boss, and finally give a heartfelt apology, while seeing with your own eyes the critical injury on Golisopod.
“Guzma, I... I’m so sorry about all this; truly, I am.”
Guzma’s eyes twitch in annoyance and rage instead; he suddenly grabs you by the collar of your hoodie shirt, nearly lifting you off the ground to really face him eye to eye, and then he yells at you as he had other plans besides taking Golisopod to the Pokémon Center.
“I DON’T JUST WANT YOUR APOLOGY (Y/N); YOU’RE COMING WITH ME TO THE POKEMON CENTER WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, AND YOU’RE GOING TO FIX THIS ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!!!”
The students try to stop Guzma as they thought he was going to physically harm you, but Kukui tells them to stay back while Guzma remarks as he takes out his pokeball to transfer his Golisopod back.
“DON’T TRY ANYTHING STUPID KUKUI; THIS IS BETWEEN ME AND (Y/N), OR YOU’LL REGRET IT!!!” Guzma cries once more after sending his Golisopod back into his pokeball.
Kukui keeps his students back away from you and Guzma and doesn’t say another word.
Guzma grabs your left wrist and grips you tightly to make sure you wouldn’t get away again, and the both of you start to walk out of the school property while your Bulbasaur follows behind.

Summary: Your idyllic life as a trophy wife of a rich lord is suddenly disturbed with the arrival of a pirate ship and a mutiny... what will your husband do to save you from the pirates grasp?
Fandoms: Henry Cavill, Sand Castle - Movie, Mission Impossible: Fallout, Night Hunter, Hellraiser Hellworld
Pairing: Captain Syverson x Female Reader.
A/N: This is a CRACK FIC. After a brief discussion with @nuggsmum about the cheap romance novels that you could find in the 80′s and 90′s, i called upon the awful storylines, plot holes, and general cheesyness of those books that walked so fanfiction could run. Read the warnings please.
Storyboard note: The only artwork i could find that was suitable to show a Henry-like character included the woman seen above. I tried to crop as much of her out as possible, the story itself does not describe the female reader at all.
Warnings: NSFW, 18+, Very Dubious Consent, Dub-con, public fingering, public sex, shackles, imprisonment, very corny word choices that echo back to the romance novels.

You resisted the strong arms that pulled you along, the rough blindfold shielding you from your destination, and yet you could hear the call of the gulls so you knew you were near to the shoreline. The cloth tied tightly around your mouth to gag you overwhelmed your senses, the rich musk of male sweat reminding you in no uncertain terms that these were far from civilised men that had snatched you away from your husbands rose garden as you’d been quietly cutting blooms in the dewy morning light.
The ground beneath your feet changed from loose earth to cobblestones, and you could smell the stench of the docks; of the gutted fish and the slop buckets, of the morning after the night before sailors' tavern. You had never been inside but had heard tales of the men that frequented it; dark and dangerous, men that circled the globe as well as the law. Your husband had regaled you with stories of such men, no doubt to frighten you from wandering off, but the man your father had arranged for you to be married to was but two generations your senior, old enough to be your grandfather, and rarely finished a story without veering off to start another. You’d had no say in the matter, the Lord had paid your father a princely sum for your hand in marriage, ignoring your pleas and protests. It had been three months since your father had hopped upon a spice ship returning to Europe with his gold, forgetting about his only daughter.
“Almost there” a gruff voice uttered, and you were suddenly hoisted over a wide shoulder
“Mmmmfff!” you exclaimed around the gag, but your protests were not heard as the men climbed the gangplank and aboard a vessel. Soon you were tied and thrown into a small room, left alone in the darkness as you heard the ship being prepared for sail.
-
The ship was on the open water when you were pulled out into the bright daylight, having managed to work the blindfold lose you were now wishing it was still in place, the bright carribean morning sunshine now blinding you as it glinted on the crystal blue waters. Big men stared hungrily at you as you were dragged across the deck to a small staircase that led up to the ships wheel and that’s when you saw him;
“Captain! Here she is!”
The big man at the wheel grinned, his bushy beard and cropped hair doing little to distract you from his piercing blue eyes that shone with a marked interest. Nodding to a young dark haired man he handed the control of the wheel over before quickly descending the stairs and landing steadily on his booted feet just inches from where you stood. With a toothy grin he looked down at you, his gaze falling to your heaving bosom where the stays of your corset had become loose in the struggle, licking his lips before he addressed one of the men gripping your arms;
“Well ain’t she a peach… caught a good one here Constable”
Your attention snapped to the man at your side and you suddenly realised who he was; Walter Marshall; the town constable. His wild and unruly hair and stone cold stare had kept order in town for as long as you’d lived on the island, but you recalled the last town meeting that had been held at your husband’s mansion had been far from smooth, with a number of towns people getting into a heated argument with the lords and gentry, Constable Marshall being one of them.
“You can still smell the roses on her Sy” the man on your other side commented.
The Captains beard tickled your cheek as he leaned forwards and inhaled, his nose brushing against your bare neck and sending a shiver down your spine, the whimper that escaped your throat barely audible and yet he pulled back, a faint look of surprise on his face that was quickly replaced with a smirk;
“She might be smellin’ of sumthin’ else once we’re done with her” he paused and nodded to the man on your other side; “Walker, shackle her to the rigging chest, we’ll be in the shadows of horseshoe cove shortly until it's time to do the sail past… her husband will realise paying the towns folk their dues is the only way to ensure he can live his idyllic life”

An hour of being chained to the enormous storage chest had given you time to watch the goings on of the ship, the way the men worked together, and you’d learned a thing or two about what had seemed to be your boring and idyllic island life had in fact been a town of corruption and mutiny. Captain Syverson had been a Navy Captain, retired once injured but seemingly now fully healed. Walker had been Infantry with the Fusiliers and was a crack shot with both a pistol and a rifle. Of course you already knew of Constable Marshall, and from eavesdropping the conversations you’d learned that they had scuttled the entire islands ships; anything the gentry owned was out of service and unable to sail. With the fishing fleet having left for open waters at dawn there wasn’t a single seaworthy vessel left on the island. Covert operations had meant the fuses for the island’s canons had all been removed in the dead of night, meaning a quick attack would be out of the question. Captain Syverson planned to sail just out of shot reach of your husbands mansion, the ransom note having already been delivered that morning an hour after your disappearance, and only the sign of a yellow flag being waved would ensure your safe return.
When the dark haired deck hand suddenly came to sit next to you, you were surprised as he started to remove the scarf that still acted as a gag;
“Don’t scream, ok? Capt’n has told me to make sure you drink, he doesn’t want you passing out from thirst”
You nodded and the younger man carefully untied the scarf, before taking the earthenware flagon and lifted it to your lips, the cool ale it held soothing your parched throat. Tipping it a little too much it spilled from your mouth and onto your chest, his eyes going wide in fear;
“I… I can’t touch you… Captain’s orders”
“It’ll dry, its hot out today”
“You’re surprisingly unafraid”
“Should i be afraid?”
He shrugged;
“Dunno. I’m Mikey by the way”
“Aren’t you a little young to be a Pirate?”
Mikey shrugged;
“I guess it was just the inevitable”
Through the conversation that followed you found yourself telling him all about yourself; how your father had basically sold your hand, how your husband was literally only on paper, having far more predilection for the handsome young footman than for you. Mid sentence the Captain’s voice boomed across the deck;
“Mikey! Back to work!”
“Yes Capt’n”
-
When you heard the bells chime of the church on the hill to say it was noon you were moved, the ship sailing around the side of the island and into position 100ft from the shoreline of your husband’s property. With your arms pulled above your head, you were tied to the base of the mast, the big captain coming to stand at your side, his eyes glancing at your breasts as they threatened to spill from your corset that had become loose and had slid down your ribcage.
“What do you see Walker?”
Peering through the spyglass the moustached man paused before he spoke;
“No yellow flag Captain… wait a moment... they’re using semaphores” He was referring to the message flags that the Navy used to send messages from passing ship to passing ship, each small triangular flag each meaning a different seafaring reference; “Hang on… ‘No duties owed’”
The Captain roared and grabbed the spyglass, peering through before grunting  and handing it back;
“Lets see if we can change his mind, eh?”
Pulling his knife from his thigh holster he hooked the blade beneath the stays of your corset, tearing the garment in two and watching as it fell to the deck at your feet, your breasts now on full show and greeted with a wild cheer from the crew. Syverson turned to Walker;
“How about now?”
He peered through the spyglass before letting out a defeated sigh;
“Same again… no duties owed”
“So, he’s sticking to his guns… let’s kick this up a level”
Turning back to you he smirked;
“This ain't personal sweetheart…”
To your surprise the big man started to gather your skirts, your eyes wide as he pulled up your petticoats and his large hand slid between your silky thighs, finding you without your undergarments and he cocked an eyebrow;
“Your men found me before I had dressed fully for the day”
“I ain’t complainin’ sweetheart, makes it easier to find…”
His hand found your petals and you groaned quietly as he discovered you slick and ready, his calloused fingers seeking out your clit before he slid two into your velvet channel, filling you more than your own fingers ever had;
“Tight little thing, aren’t ya? Your husband got a small dick?”
You turned your head to face him, emboldened by the wanton display;
“I wouldn’t know, i’ve never seen it”
The Captain froze;
“Fuck”
His hand stopped, still inside you and you could feel your walls trembling with excitement around his digits as his men approached, Walker and Marshall both having heard your admission;
“Sy… we gotta continue, we’re owed for three months pay from the Lord…”
He nodded to the mansion;
“What’s the message?”
Checking again, Walker sighed;
“Return Cargo. No duties owed”
The Captain roared with anger;
“The fucking bastard! Every single man on this ship is owed half a years wages, and for what? Keeping his idyllic island life”
The look on his face had changed, and you finally saw the Pirate in him as he approached you, wrapping a big hand around the back of your neck and kissing you roughly. When you willingly opened your mouth and your tongue pushed against his it gave him the green light to go ahead, his body pressing you to the mast and you could feel his hardness pressing against the thin layers of your petticoats. With a flurry of hands he pulled your skirts up and unbuttoned his breaches, revealing his fat length, almost as thick as your wrist and patterned with veins.
You may never have lain in the marital bed or known the intimate touch of a man, but you had sought your own pleasure with your fingers and even the occasional candle from your husbands drawing room. But you’d never had anything as large as the Captains throbbing length inside you. You hooked your leg over his hip, pulling him close even though your hands were still tied, and let out a cry of pleasure as his hot flesh speared your soaked cavern.
Syverson ravaged you against the mast, fucking you with such a fury that you could feel your body start to tighten around him, and with a cry you came, pressing your head back against the hard wood, a blissful smile across your face as you had your first ever orgasm that you hadn’t given yourself. You were vaguely aware of him pulling out, fisting his shaft and spilling his seed over your bare thighs, before your skirts were dropped and he was fastening himself back into his breeches;
“Well?” the Captain demanded of his men.
Constable Marshall cleared his throat;
“There’s a new semaphore… Cargo Abandoned”
“HE WHAT?” you spat out, filled with anger that your husband would just leave you to the Pirates.
“Very well” Syverson nodded; “Hoist the mainsail, we sail for Kingstown”
He turned to you whilst addressing his men;
“Get her down and have her taken to my cabin” he turned to you; “You ever sailed before?”
“Spent a decade on spice ships Captain” to which he nodded.
“At least you have your sea legs then”
Mikey had unshackled you and was stripping himself of his vest, helping you to slip it onto your arms so you could cover your naked chest.
“Michael?” the captain boomed; “... find her some of the chests of finery we took from that French vessel a couple of months ago”
“Yes Father”
“He’s your father!?”
Mikey nodded;
“Welcome aboard The Cavillry. We’re like one big family here”
Just then the bow hit a wave as it reached the deeper waters, spray splashing up and soaking you, much to Mikey’s amusement;
“You’ll get used to being wet here”

DOG YEARS // Harry Styles O.U.
Part 2: The Bar Cart
Tumblr media
a/n: hey and welcome to part 2! this is kind of short but I felt that it  needed to be it’s own chapter (in my head it makes sense.) aw harry and colette are v sweet in this one (i love them already). also there is colette’s face claim in the collage/mood board above including real pics from the soho farmhouse. :) comments, likes and REBLOGS are v much appreciated happy reading!
STORY PAGE // PART 1
What I had concluded throughout the night was that this small group of Harry and his friends were just so normal. It was so easy to watch him on a phone clip or on the screen of a TV for an award show and have a false preconception of who he was. After all, he was a huge celebrity -- it’s hard not to imagine him being a certain way. I never could have dreamed he would be the way he is though, I suppose that’s the beauty of first getting to know somebody. As the hours weened late and the clock neared 12 AM, I realized Harry Styles was as normal as any man in a baby chick sweater could be.
I had never been a massive Harry Styles fan, sure if his song came on the radio I bopped along. If I saw him on my Snapchat Daily Mail snippets, I’d read them every so often — but other than that I had no true preconception of who he was and what he was about. I guess that came in my favor because I had no high expectations from him and therefore he could only go up from there. Throughout the night the five of us took an abundant amount of shots and played a few childish ‘Truth or Dare’ games. I found myself taking a shot of maple syrup and pickle juice MIXED — Harry’’s idea of a dare.
This was the most fun I had since moving over here to England, and in the presence of all these ‘misfit’ like personas, I felt at home. There was no awkward beats, shame or egos. The whole atmosphere was completely judgement free and as light as a feather. I talked to everyone, chatting away about California, good food spots, sports and more. I found it so refreshing to be able to relate to other people’s stories about my home state, a place I was starting to long for.
It was fair to say that we were all peak drunk around 12, dancing along to old 70’s hits as well as current ones. Jamie tried to teach us all  ‘TikTok’ dances she had learnt from her children back home. Of course the 5 of us tried our best to be choreographed and in sync, but failed miserably. Little did they all know I spent most of my free time perfecting these stupid dances. Of course any videos we took, were never posted publicly...but some did make the cut as a private post to a whopping 0 followers. Watching Harry Styles sing the words “I'm a savage. Classy, bougie, ratchet, sassy, moody, nasty” with a bunch of hip pops was an award winning scene.
So as it reached 1 am, I was near my max of what I could handle for the night. My head which was once spinning was now beginning to pound and that gross dry feeling in my mouth was taking over. I hated this part. I didn’t feel sick to my stomach yet but I knew if I didn’t get sleep soon I’d be regretting it.
“Hey, so do ya need a ride back home?” Harry’s raspy voice asked, reading the room very well. He had taken a sudden seat next to me on the couch, spreading his legs apart and laying his head back fully — complete relaxation.
“You drank tonight,” I reprimanded him jokingly. But I meant it, he was the most plastered of all of us. “You can’t drive, even if it’s just down the hill.”
“Can’t argue with that,” He hummed. “’M pretty trashed still.”
I turned my head towards him, he was still looking up as if he was admiring the wood paneled ceilings, taking every detail in. But when I looked closer, his eyes were shut. His face structure was flawless if I’d say so myself. His jaw looked like it could cut someone, his eyebrows full enough to make any girl jealous, and those floppy, thick waves — it was hard to admit that he wasn’t handsome. I blinked my eyes hard, trying to get out of the small trance I was under. I was drunk after all.
“Well…” I began, “I need to start heading down to my casa.”
“Well…” Harry chirped, directing his attention towards me. “If I can’t drive you back down, the least I could do is walk you there.”
“No, please,” I scoffed.
“Yeah, yeah. Shaddup and grab your coat, it’s about to get chilly out there.”
I knew I’d manage doing the walk by myself well enough alone. The premises of Soho Farmhouse were protected with heavy security and gates. I knew I had no reasons to worry about a swift 5 minute trudge down a hill.
“No Harry, seriously. I’ll be fine!” I argued back, forming a tight lip smile to reassure him.
“Who knows?  A bloody chicken could be loose and start chasing you, ya? Plus, it’s my duty to make sure you get back safe. Now, up!” He instructed. “’M a gentleman.”
I knew there was no point in fighting back, he was adamant about it. Plus the look on his face when I obliged was well worth it.
The two of us said our quick fair wells to everyone  who was still gathered round the kitchen island talking amongst each other. It might have been the alcohol, but I felt oddly emotional saying goodbye to all of them. For the first time in a month I made what felt like real connections with a group of people and all I wanted was to hang out with them forever. I was bummed knowing Jamie and Jeff would only be here for another week or so.
“Shall we take the wagon, bar cart contraption thing?” Harry offered, pointing to the blue wagon filled with alcohol.
“I don’t even have the keys.”
“Fair enough, walking it is.”
“Thanks for having me tonight,” I spoke tiredly.
“Don’t even worry about it. Glad to be of assistance in the ‘lit’ department,” He laughed, using quotations around the word lit.
“You’re very Americanized,” I noted. He turned his head to me, raising his eyebrow as if he had just been accused of something terrible.
“That’s why I’m back here in the English countryside. Trying to ween away from all that LA bullshit…” He admitted, running a hand through his hair nervously.
“LA bullshit?” I asked, appalled...maybe even a little offended. Although I had lived in Northern California, an insult to one city of my state was an insult to all.
“Yeah, erm, spent too much time there ‘s all...” Harry mumbled. I was almost sure by his tone he was not giving off the complete truth but I didn’t want to push. Harry started to fiddle with his bottom lips, hit teeth constantly biting it over and over. Most likely a nervous habit.
We continued walking along the cobblestone in silence, the click-clack of our shoes echoing through the emptiness of the night. Despite the quietness of it all, it felt pretty comfortable.
“I love LA,” I offered sheepishly. “I mean, as long as you surround yourself with the right people, I think LA’s one of the best places you could be.”
“Well you’re just saying that,” He countered. “You’re from California, you’re supposed to say that.”
“False!”
“I loved LA too,” Harry admitted, focusing his attention back to the cobblestone ground ahead of him.
“Loved?” I asked inquisitively.
He turned his gaze to me and laughed, “It’s complicated.”
“LA can have that effect,” I said back, trying not to delve any deeper. I had just met him today after all, there was no reason for him to trust me with any of his problems.
“I think you staying here will definitely be a big change. It’s about as simple as it gets.” I didn’t want to delve any deeper and invade his privacy so I took his explanation as it was. I couldn’t help but think there may have been a direct correlation with his quick mood change yesterday and his reasoning for disliking California.
“Looking forward to it,” He smiled. “‘S kinda just like, the perfect situation for me. No press, no distractions, just focusing on myself...the music.”
“Mmm, exciting.”
Harry caught my gaze, “You’ve got no idea.”
We began to approach my cottage, the smallest one on the property. The lights on in the kitchen we’re still on from when I left. They were now shining through the windows giving a angelic glow to the darkness of the night.
“No rush to get up early tomorrow.” Harry insisted as we approached the large wooden door. I looked at him excitedly, all I wanted to do was sleep in after tonight and he had just granted me his permission to do so.
“Really?” I questioned.
He nodded his head, “I’ll be sleeping in late too. Bloody tired.”
“Alright I’ll just wait for a text from Jeff..”
Harry cut me off swiftly, “Or myself.” He pointed a finger to his chest playfully.
“Or yourself,” I agreed.
“But don’t worry, like I said, sleep in and uh I’ll see you tomorrow maybe.”
For some unknown reason the air between us felt extremely awkward. I was still a little tipsy, but coming down quickly. I thought to myself that if this was any other guy, I’d probably be on my tippy toes and ready to kiss him, because why not? But it was Harry Styles. He was like my boss, I guess, and he’d have no interest in me. If anything he’d file a restraining order if I tried to pull something like that. I pulled my jacket closer to my body as the air swirled around us.
“Alright well goodnight!” I exclaimed bringing him in for a quick side hug. Harry quickly turned it into a full on hug, giving me a tight squeeze. He smelled divine. How badly I wanted to arch my head up and meet his lips, which were probably freezing. The alcohol just does something to me and makes me want to kiss almost anybody to be fair. Making out with friends whilst drunk was one of my famous traits. It was like he had handed his warmth over to me because being embraced in him I instantly felt warmer, any shivers I once had were gone.
He let go of me and awkwardly stood there, his hands flying into his pockets. “Just want to make sure you get in safe,” He noted, bringing his lips into an awkward smile, shooting his gaze towards the door.
“Oh yeah, of course,” I laughed nervously. I emphasized the key in my hand, giving him a big smile as I twisted it and unlocked the heavy door.
“Right,” He muttered.
“Get back safe!” I chirped, allowing myself to fully walk in the warmth of my cottage and turning to face him.
“I’ll text you.”
“Oh?” I arched my eyebrow at him jokingly.
“Goodnight, Colette.” And with that he turned on his feet, slowly waking back up the treacherous hill and to his abode.
I slammed the door fast, the thunderous noise vibrating through my whole cottage. I rested my back against it in a state of relief and confusion of the encounter I had just endured. Pulling myself back together and avoiding any intrusive thoughts I may begin to think, i decided to start up a hot shower and brew myself tea.
HARRYS POV
I felt weird. I hadn’t felt this way since the night I had met Camille, years ago at a friends party. It was a feeling I longed for, but also was scared of. The creative side of me wanted to embrace the feeling, the broken side of me wanted to steer clear. I knew the girl I had just waved goodbye to depended on this job, I couldn’t just ask for a replacement — plus, I was intrigued. I felt like I was at tug of war with myself over a girl I had just met earlier today. It was a tad ridiculous.
I figured the best thing for me to do was to only call her around when trulynecessary. It wasn’t like me to be this unwelcoming, but the feeling in my stomach that was creeping up to my mind was telling me to be this way. I wasn’t going to text her tomorrow for anything. Colette, right? Yep, that was her name — how could I forget it. A face as pretty as the name. I didn’t say much when I came back into my temporary home, instead I insisted I needed sleep and get a propers nice rest of what was left of it anyways. It was the most polite way to let my dear pals know to fuck off for the night. I loved them all, but I needed to get situated and I wanted space. Time to myself is what I cherished most.
I rushed up to my bedroom, shutting the door and entering the attached bathroom. I neatly undressed myself, taking a deep stare in the mirror. I looked at myself hard, the alcohol was still in my system so I appeared a little fuzzy. I felt older, my hairline was not what it used to be in the 1D days, it didn’t bother me but I had seen some tweets about it. My facial hair was growing in kind of unevenly, this is what I get for wanting to be independent and not have a stylish take care of how I look. I preferred it that way though, that’s how it should be.
Sighing, I went for the toothbrush and started on my nightly routine. I wanted to create a new set of routine now that I was becoming accustomed into this place I’d be calling ‘home’ for the next four months.
After freshening up, I let my body get underneath the cool covers, pulling them up high up to my neck to keep me warm. I stared at my phone that was sitting on the wooden table side. I always kept my phone on Do Not Disturb when I was taking time off for myself. Seeing a bunch of missed calls and emails stressed me out, and I wanted to detach from all that. I let out a puff of air, knowing what I’d be seeing if I decided to take a look at my phone. But the alcohol that was left in me couldn’t hold back so I reached for it anyways.
I quickly opened up the safari tab and typed my own name, something I was never keen on doing. I hadn’t done it for weeks actually, but I knew there was a part of me that needed to see what was being said. Just like that, a bunch of highlights of new articles and my name as well as hers were everywhere.
“Fuck..” I sighed, closing my eyes shut for a second. “Why..”
Camille Rowe, model and famed ex girlfriend of musician and heartthrob Harry Styles releases tell all book — including steamy details of  her former romance with the star!
Click. I waited for the page to load, nervously biting my lower lip.
There’s a lot of things we should thank Camille Rowe for — her Vogue tips on how to achieve the perfect Parisian makeup look, inspiring the fabulous Harry Styles Fine Line album and now releasing a book telling us ALL about her old relationship with the man himself!
Details in the book delve deep into her once what seemed great, but now known doomed relationship with the singer. She mentions details of cheating, jealously and what Harry’s really like in the bed. Thanks Camille — you’ve answered all of our questions. Turns out, Harry is just as packed as we thought he would be!
I couldn’t read it anymore, I felt humiliated and invaded of my privacy. Privacy. The one thing I valued most in my life, the one thing I hold onto like it is the most precious jewel in the world. Privacy — the one thing Camille knew was the most important aspect of my life. I grew up in the spotlight, placed under a huge amount of pressure and scrutiny. I felt as if I was made from a testing tube so specially to fit into a mold of a person I wasn’t.
For so long in my life I had felt as if people knew everything about me, even more than I did — and that’s a harsh feeling. I regained that privacy back after leaving the band and learned how to maintain a healthy balance of showcasing who I was to the world but holding back at the same time. It was what made my albums, my art, so special. Making my songs and putting them out there was  my own personal invitation to those who listened, to get a glimpse into my life.
I felt sick and the alcohol in my stomach stirred the more I thought about that damn book.I was getting older, and alcohol didn’t clique with my body the way it used to. I opened my messages up, seeing Camille’s name at almost the top of my list of new messages, probably trying to apologize.  What she should have done was ask if I was comfortable with her releasing a book that almost solely focused on our past relationship. A relationship that was well done with for almost 3 years now. For fucks sake, I’d always have love for the lady, but she never knew when she took things too far. I finally felt at peace and fully over her, and here she was ambushing my life and swiping away my beloved privacy.
I swiped left on the unopened messages, deleting them before even reading. I had to focus on the positive, that’s why I was here in the countryside after all. I hadn’t answered my publicist since the damn book came out last week, I didn’t even know where to start or what to stay. I wanted to keep silent, MIA.
Tonight with Colette though, I forgot about it all. She was stunning, there was no denying that. Funny too, and a little shy. She didn’t come off star struck by my presence, she treated me like any bloke off the street. Normal. Dropping her off at her cottage tonight, after spending the past few hours with her bloody gorgeous face, I wanted to snog her face off. Was I getting too old to be acting that way? I didn’t want to scare her off though, and that wasn’t really my style anymore.
Hookups and shit. The amount of one night stands from my days in the band were shameful. Thinking back to having security bring girls we thought were hot to our hotel rooms for a quick fuck, was so common back then, it was insane.  It was a part of my life that I felt deep regret for, and sickened me to think about. I was young, horny, and willing to give my body up to any girl. Most of the time, I felt awkward. I’d see a girl at the bar in a fancy hotel we were at, I wouldn’t even say a word to her, 20 minutes later I was back in my room, waiting for my security to drop her off for an hour or so. No phones, sign an NDA, show ID of proof of legal age, be my type and bam, she got to be fucked by Harry Styles.
Things were so much different now, I focused more on making those connections, I found it built more of an attraction. The lead up to the sex or the relationship, was now my favorite thing. After years of getting instant sex, waiting for it had now become the best part.
I shook my head, brushing away these invasive thoughts I wanted to avoid and memories I wanted to forget. Switching off the lamp beside me and placing my phone on charge, I dozed off.

The Ultimate Guide to Property Management in Abu Dhabi
Property management in Abu Dhabi is a multifaceted task that requires a deep understanding of the local market, legal frameworks, and best practices to ensure the success of your real estate investment. Whether you’re a first-time landlord or a seasoned property owner, navigating the complexities of property management can be challenging. This ultimate guide will walk you through the essential aspects of property management in Abu Dhabi, providing you with the tools and knowledge needed to manage your property effectively and profitably.
1. Understanding the Abu Dhabi Property Market
The real estate market in Abu Dhabi is unique, influenced by various factors such as economic conditions, population growth, and government policies. As a landlord or property owner, it's crucial to stay informed about these factors to make informed decisions.
1.1 Market Trends
Current Demand: The demand for residential and commercial properties in Abu Dhabi is influenced by the city’s status as a business hub and its appeal as a destination for expatriates. Understanding which types of properties are in demand—whether luxury villas, high-rise apartments, or office spaces—can help you position your property effectively.
Rental Yields: Rental yields in Abu Dhabi can vary significantly based on location, property type, and market conditions. Keeping abreast of rental trends ensures you set competitive rates that maximize your return on investment.
Future Projections: Analyzing future market projections, such as infrastructure developments and government initiatives, can help you anticipate changes in property values and rental demand.
1.2 Key Areas in Abu Dhabi
Popular Residential Areas: Neighborhoods like Al Reem Island, Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island are known for their high demand among expatriates and locals alike. Understanding the dynamics of these areas, including amenities, accessibility, and community appeal, is essential for targeting the right tenant base.
Commercial Hotspots: Abu Dhabi’s central business district, including areas like Al Maryah Island and the Corniche, is prime for commercial real estate. Knowing the business landscape and demand for office spaces can guide your investment decisions.
2. Legal Requirements for Property Management in Abu Dhabi
Navigating the legal landscape of property management in Abu Dhabi is critical to ensuring compliance and protecting your interests as a landlord.
2.1 Tenancy Law
Overview: Abu Dhabi's tenancy laws govern the relationship between landlords and tenants, outlining rights and obligations. Key provisions include rent caps, lease terms, and the process for eviction.
Lease Agreements: A legally binding lease agreement is essential for defining the terms of tenancy. This document should clearly outline rent, payment schedules, maintenance responsibilities, and the conditions for lease termination.
Security Deposits: The handling of security deposits is regulated, with clear guidelines on how much can be collected and under what circumstances it can be withheld at the end of the tenancy.
2.2 Landlord Obligations
Maintenance and Repairs: Landlords are responsible for maintaining the property in a habitable condition, including ensuring the proper functioning of essential utilities like water, electricity, and air conditioning.
Health and Safety Compliance: Properties must comply with health and safety standards, including fire safety regulations and the provision of adequate living conditions.
Privacy and Access: Landlords must respect the tenant’s right to privacy, providing notice before entering the property for inspections or repairs.
2.3 Dispute Resolution
Tenancy Disputes: In the event of a dispute, landlords and tenants can seek resolution through Abu Dhabi’s Rent Disputes Settlement Committee. Understanding the process and grounds for disputes can help prevent legal challenges.
3. Best Practices for Property Management
Effective property management is about more than just collecting rent. It involves a proactive approach to maintaining the property, managing tenants, and ensuring long-term profitability.
3.1 Tenant Screening and Selection
Importance of Screening: Choosing the right tenants is crucial to minimizing risks such as late payments, property damage, or legal issues. A comprehensive screening process should include background checks, credit assessments, and rental history verification.
Setting Expectations: Clear communication with prospective tenants about the rules and expectations of tenancy helps prevent misunderstandings and fosters a positive landlord-tenant relationship.
3.2 Regular Property Inspections
Frequency and Scope: Regular inspections are essential for monitoring the condition of the property and identifying maintenance needs early. Inspections should cover all aspects of the property, from structural elements to appliances.
Documentation: Keeping detailed records of inspections, including photos and notes, helps track the property's condition over time and provides evidence in case of disputes.
3.3 Maintenance and Repairs
Preventative Maintenance: Proactively addressing potential issues before they become major problems can save significant costs in the long run. Regular servicing of HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical components is critical.
Handling Repairs: Establishing a reliable network of contractors ensures that repairs are handled quickly and efficiently. Prioritizing tenant requests for repairs also helps maintain satisfaction and retention.
3.4 Financial Management
Rent Collection: Implementing an efficient system for rent collection, whether through online portals or direct deposits, helps ensure timely payments and reduces the likelihood of arrears.
Expense Tracking: Keeping accurate records of expenses, including maintenance, taxes, and property management fees, is essential for managing your budget and maximizing profitability.
Financial Reporting: Regular financial reports provide a clear picture of your property’s performance, helping you make informed decisions about future investments.
4. Financial Management and Reporting
Financial management is a cornerstone of successful property management. It involves more than just tracking income and expenses; it requires strategic planning to optimize returns and manage risks.
4.1 Setting Rental Rates
Market Analysis: Conducting a thorough market analysis helps determine the optimal rental rate for your property. This involves comparing similar properties in your area and considering factors such as location, amenities, and condition.
Adjusting for Inflation: Periodically reviewing and adjusting rental rates to keep pace with inflation and market changes ensures that your property remains competitive while generating adequate income.
4.2 Budgeting and Forecasting
Expense Planning: Creating a detailed budget that accounts for all anticipated expenses, including maintenance, taxes, and management fees, helps you plan for the year ahead.
Revenue Forecasting: Predicting future rental income based on market trends and occupancy rates allows you to set realistic financial goals and make informed investment decisions.
4.3 Tax Considerations
Understanding Tax Obligations: Property owners in Abu Dhabi must be aware of their tax obligations, including any applicable property taxes or VAT on rental income.
Tax Efficiency: Exploring tax-efficient strategies, such as deductions for maintenance costs and property management fees, can help reduce your overall tax liability.
4.4 Financial Reporting
Monthly Reports: Regular financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets, provide a snapshot of your property’s financial health. These reports should detail all income, expenses, and net profit.
Annual Reviews: Conducting an annual financial review helps assess the overall performance of your investment and identify areas for improvement.
5. Working with a Property Management Company
For many property owners, partnering with a professional property management company like Arabesco can streamline operations and enhance profitability.
5.1 Benefits of Professional Management

Summary: An Alternate Universe where Bakugou doesn't want to be a hero, but was was forced by Deku to attend at UA. On the first day of school something unexpected happens. Turns out, if you're the last one standing, you'll be the number one student of UA. Everyone excluding the 3rd years go againts each other to be at the top, while Deku and Bakugou find ways to survive without any casualties.
Besides all of this, the question stays. Who created this ridiculous predicament at UA?
Chapter 1: It's just the first Day of school, and now this?!
Making his way to the classroom took a lot more effort than he initially thought. Head down, eyes trained on the floor, and carefully maneuvering his way through the crowd of students while avoiding attention— Bakugou tries his best to go through the day unnoticed.
Someone grabs him by the shoulder. The force makes him face the person behind him— someone he knows quite well.
"Deku... There you are." It was his childhood friend.
"Is everything okay? I've been calling your name so many times. I had to run towards you just to get your attention."
"Sorry, I was just thinking about something."
Deku watches his friend, worried. "What were you thinking about?"
"Isn't it obvious! We made a bet remember!" Bakugo lashes out, his hands balling into fists.
"Oh that.. You're right..." Deku recalls, scratching the back of his head. "But I don't see why would that be a problem. You passed the exams! You should be happy!"
Deku takes out his watch before looking around the hallway and grabbing Bakugou's hand. "Come on, let's go. It's the first day of school! We should at least hurry to our classroom!"
Before Bakugou could protest, Deku was dragging him to their classroom. The green haired lad excitedly opened the door, only to be greeted by a room filled with empty seats.
"What? Where are they?" Bakugou steps inside, looking around. "Did you bring us to the wrong classroom or something?"
"No.. I'm certain this is Class 1-A." Deku replies as he checks the sign outside the door. Sure enough, they were in the right room.
"Well—" Bakugou gets cut off when the school bell chimes. Three bells, an indication of an announcement.
Not too long, a female's voice sounds from the speakers.
"Attention all students, please head to the auditorium for an announcement!"
"An announcement? What could it be Kacchan?" Deku turns to his friend, a mix of confusion and curiosity present on his face.
"Who knows. Let's go before we miss anything."
It wasn't easy getting into the auditorium with all the students flooding in at once. It took a whole few minutes of squeezing into the crowd to finally reach their post.
A student walks towards the center of the stage, holding a microphone in his hand. Face filled with confidence, he taps the microphone two times before speaking.
"Greetings! First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for gathering here today." The young man starts, "My name is Shoto Todoroki, and as you all know I'm the son of the number two hero, Endeavor. I'm here to announce a challenge that will change everything this school year!"
Bakugou could hear other students whispering on the sides.
"A challenge, what does he mean by that?"
"I don't know, but this better be good."
"As you all know, we students dream to become one of the pros— to be in the top 10. That's why we're here at UA, the top Hero Academy in Japan! And with this challenge, we can reach that dream and take it even higher!" The student, Todoroki, exclaims, his fist pounding in the air.
"One of you— that's right— the one with the best, strongest, flashiest quirk will become the number one student of this academy! Well, excluding the 3rd years. The benefits of becoming the number student are endless! You could be one of the top 3 students, and train with the best heroes outside of japan!" Todoroki continues.
"So more island hopping?" A second year student asks, raising their hand.
"Yes, being the number one will focus only on your training to be a hero. There would no longer be a need to study or take the elevator exams."
The students stir with his announcement, and Todoroki uses this chance to further encourage them. "Now tell me this, are you capable of fighting your friends, classmates for this one of a kind opportunity? Let's set aside all emotions and strive towards our goal! So what are you waiting for? Are you just going to stand there doing nothing? Or are you going to give it your all and fight to be the best?!"
The auditorium falls silent.
"But what about the other classes who aren't suited to fight, like the General, Support, or Management?" Another student asks.
Todoroki lets out a loud sigh, answering the query. "The General can join in if they wish. Support can help the ones who are fighting. And the Department of Management— eh, can do whatever they want." He shrugs.
At the back of the crowd, a first year with glasses shouts. "But where are we going to fight? We're using our quirks right? If we're going all out, non participants might get disturbed or worse, get caught up with the fight!"
Todoroki nods. "Good question. Rules regarding the venues of the event will be explained soon."
"But what about our hero costumes? They're not finished yet!" Another first year asks.
"You have your PE uniforms." Todoroki says before remembering an important detail of his announcement. "As for property damages within school campus, there is no need for worry. I'll be handling all expenses."
He brings his hands out for a around of applause. "Alright, The rules will be delivered at the end of today's classes. The challenge will start tomorrow. And for all non-participants, the third years will act as your escorts for the time being. That wraps up this morning's announcement. I wish everyone good luck and may the strongest student win!"
Todoroki drops his mic and quickly exits the stage. As soon as he's gone, the atmosphere starts to liven up.
_____________________________________________
Todoroki was exhausted, he didn't think this through. He didn't take into account that there were others who had no desire to participate. "I should ask Yaoyorozu about this—"
"Oh? Is this perhaps Shoto Todoroki I'm seeing?" Someone greets him with a cheerful tone
Todoroki snaps, turning to the sound of the voice. Upon looking, he sees a group of three students walking towards him.
"Wow, I'm amazed. This year's students are pretty energetic!" One of the students chuckles.
"Well, atleast it's a change of pace, unlike last year..."
"True. I can't believe principal Nezu agreed to this. It's exciting but tiring at the same time. Dragging alot of students into this, it's kind of a risk to them don't you think, Mirio?"
"Mirio?" Todoroki paused, realizing the name she spoke was—
"Ah, Todoroki Shoto right? Bold of you to propose a challenge without thinking there wouldn't be casualties."
Shoto's eyes widen as he stumbles back. "M-Mirio Togata!"
"Oh sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I guess you already know who I am, huh? Nice to meet you, Todoroki!"
"Oh, uh— Oh! I guess it's my turn next." said the girl next to him, "My name is Nejire Hado, and the guy on the left is Tamaki Amajiki!"
"The big three.." Todoroki composes himself. "Were you here to see me?"
"Yeah. Since you did announce to the whole school, why wouldn't we?" Nejire chuckles.
"The teachers haven't arrived yet so we're here to look after the school while they're not around." Tamaki says, facing away from Todoroki.
Todoroki sighs. "I see... And yes, you're right senpai. I should've thought this through. I got so excited that I forgot about the safety of others"
Mirio approaches Todoroki, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Don't worry Todoroki, we'll help you! We are your senpais after all. And it's already been decided, we'll take care of the non-participants as well as the injured. All you gotta do is take charge of the battles."
"As for the organization of the fights.. We'll have to come up of a plan to reassure the other students' safety tomorrow." Tamaki adds.
Todoroki felt guilty that his senpais had to help him with all of his problems— thinking about how dumb he was for going through with the idea without a proper plan. "I'm sorry you had to help me. I should've thought this through..."
"Well your father and Principal Nezu did agree to this without telling you the consequences, or perhaps they're testing you?" Nejire eyes Todoroki, examining him.
"Why would would they want to test me?"
"Who knows, you ask them."
"Well would ya look at the time! It was nice meeting you Todoroki, and next time we meet, plan first before you act on anything." Mirio tells him, smiling as the three make their way to the exit.
"Yes, I will senpai." Todoroki nods, watching them go.
"Aww, we're leaving already? I haven't gotten the chance to ask him some questions yet." Nejire says, feeling disappointed.
"It was nice meeting you Todoroki, see you!" Nejire adds, bidding farewell.
"Ah- Goodbye senpai!"
The three waved at Todoroki and left, leaving him alone again.
Todoroki leaned on the wall, sighing in exhaustion.
"I could really use some tea right about now. Yaoyorozu's on the top floor..." He shrugs. "I'll just take the elevator."
_____________________________________________
After the announcement at the auditorium, Bakugou and Deku went back to the classroom for a breather.
"Damn, staying at the auditorium packed with a lot of people really is a nightmare." Bakugou says as he stretches his arms.
Deku agrees whilst cracking his knuckles. "The announcement came out of nowhere too. And not just that, all of the teachers and staff are gone."
Bakugou takes his seat on the chair next to where Deku stood, thinking about what he said. "And that Todoroki guy, what's he planning to do with this challenge of his? He could've just waited until the Sports Festival. This whole challenge thing doesn't make any sense."
"He must've been really excited. A lot of students would want to join in."
"Well, I know I don't."
Deku stops, looking at Bakugou worriedly. "You.. Aren't?"
"What, is there something wrong about that?" Bakugou glares at Deku, causing the latter to avoid eye contact.
"I just thought that, you know.. You were okay with using your quirk now.."
Bakugou blinks. "I am. I don't see why that has anything to do with the challenge."
"Well.. I thought you would want to join since it's a challenge and all." Deku says in a quiet voice, his hands fidgeting.
"Join the challenge?" Bakugou scoffs. "There's no way I'm doing that. Not when I can possibly harm others."
Deku stares down at his friend. "Then what are you gonna do when a villain attacks?"
"Deku.. That's not it."
"Kacchan did you forget? We're at UA. If you can't use your quirk, how are you going to be a hero?"
"(Kacchan, Promise me that in the future the two of us will be heroes.)"
"(Of course, we'll be the best heroes. I'm obviously going to be number one!)"
"(No way, Kacchan. I'm going to be number one!)"
"(Ha! You wish!.)"
"Can't be a hero without using my quirk huh?" Bakugou smirks. "Then I'll just have to change that."
"You're gonna.. What?"
"I'm gonna enter the challenge and win without my quirk."

CHAPTER THIRTEEN:
Something about Friday nights at the bar always seemed to put Zoey in an energetic mood. As hectic as it got, there was always something new and exciting happening on the weekends. Groups of newly legal drinkers, bachelorette parties, rowdy swingers, there was always something. And the group of people she worked with on weekends only improved the fun. Andy was at his prime tonight, mixing and mingling with everyone that approached the bar while Brett flirted with all of the girls, Zoey was making everyone laugh, and a few other servers bounced around, as well.
They had busy weekends down to a science by now, knowing where everyone was, what everyone would be doing, and reading the signs on when they might be able to take a quick break. This was, by far, the most organized bar she’d ever worked at. Zoey stepped out of the storage closet, carrying a box full of napkins when she bumped right into Brett.
“Whoa, if you wanted me to get on the floor for ya, all you needed to do was ask,” Brett grabbed his arm where the box had hit him as he stumbled backward, smirking.
She could bet that he was so used to flirting for tips that it just came as second nature to him. Still, the idea of getting plowed by him in the closet right now seemed almost too good to pass up. Especially considering how Australian he sounded tonight. It’s been a minute. She smirked back, looking at him through her eyelashes, “Well, the closet’s free now if you want to meet me in there in five minutes?”
His eyes widened slightly before standing up straighter and stammering, “Oh, uh. Probably not a good idea right now, actually. It’s super busy out there. We can’t leave the others alone.”
“Oh, yeah. I was kidding,” Zoey laughed, blowing it off and countering, “I’m still out of a bedroom right now, otherwise I would invite you to spend the night.”
A week and a half ago after Zoey had gotten home from her date there was a pretty bad storm in LA. While she was on the phone with Harry, lightning had struck the top of their building and hit an electrical box that shut the power off on the top dozen floors of her building, including her unit. The electrical current that ran through her apartment had also caused their water heater to build too much pressure which made it burst, spilling water out of the utility closet and leaking into the hallways and the room closest to it, which happened to be Zoey’s room.
Luckily they were able to get the electricity back up rather quickly, but the damage had already been done. Water damaged the carpets, the underlayment, and the bottom of the walls. It even caused water damage to the ceiling in the unit below them. Thankfully the furniture was salvageable, and the building maintenance and property manager were very helpful in trying to get everything fixed and sorted for them, but it did take some time. They had to move all of Zoey’s furniture out of the room and into the living room to rip up all of the carpets, put holes at the bottom of the walls to get air circulation inside of the walls, and install dehumidifiers and drying fans around the back half of their apartment. It looked like a bomb had gone off in there, and because of this, they hadn’t had visitors over since.
He nodded, hesitantly admitting, “It’s okay. I have plans tonight, anyway.”
“Oh, nice. Another date?”
He paused, “Yeah, kind of.”
“Ooo,” she sang, teasingly, “Good luck. Hope they’re not as crazy as the last. How were her parents, by the way?”
He laughed, pushing her lightly, and walking away saying, “From now on I’ll have to mention it upfront. No parents on the first date.”
She continued on her way and began filling up the containers underneath the counter with napkins when Andy came over, smiling and lightly kicking her shoes as she crouched. Zoey looked up and grinned at her friend, pushing the box to the side and standing up, picking a piece of lint off of his shirt.
“I think Brett’s dating someone,” she told him.
Andy faked a frown and teased, “Awe. Are you sad ‘cuz your fuck buddy can’t fuck you anymore?”
She rolled her eyes, hip-checking him, “A little. He’s just being so sketchy about it. I don’t get why he can’t just be honest and tell me we can’t fuck anymore because he either doesn’t want to or because he’s seeing someone. Boys are annoying.”
Andy nodded, pursing his lip, “Girl, I get it. I don’t want to like boys, either. Shit sucks.”
When 1 AM rolled around, Zoey was exhausted. She made out pretty good tips, but she felt like she could have fallen asleep on the drive home. To her surprise, the living room lights were still on. Usually, Nancy and Aurora were in bed by now. They could have accidentally left it on. But just as the thought crossed her mind, a soft door closing and heels clicking caught her attention and she turned to see Rory stumbling in, gasping a little at the sight of Zoey.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you,” Zoey giggled, setting her bag down on the island.
Rory shook her head, her cute little mixed French and British accent squeaking, “It’s okay. I lost track of time. I should have known you’d be home soon.”
“Are you heading out?” Zoey noticed her roommate still fully dressed. Her eyes widened in realization, “Ohhhhh, are you going to Harry’s? I know he said he was thinking of coming home early, but I haven’t talked to him today, so I didn’t realize he did.”
Rory hesitated for a moment before stuttering, “Yeah, but it’s a quick visit. I’ll be back in the morning.”
Zoey nodded, yawning and dragging her feet over to the couch, “Have fun, you crazy kids!” she joked, plopping onto the sectional and muttering under her breath, “Can’t wait to have my bed back.”
“You can sleep in my bed tonight if you want. Since I won’t be here,” Aurora offered.
“Really? Thank you! Might actually be able to get a good night’s sleep tonight,” she grinned standing up.
Aurora paused for a moment before smiling back, putting her head down with a nod goodbye, and walking out the door. With another yawn, Zoey grabbed an oversized tee and a pair of sweatpants from the pile of her clothes in the corner of the living room, quickly changing, and headed towards Rory’s tidy white bedroom.
Her roommate’s mattress had to be the most comfortable mattress she’d ever been on, by far. As soon as she hit the pillow, there was no stopping it. Not even her most nagging thoughts could keep her awake.
Zoey dreamed of life before all of this. Back to her boring Pennsylvania town with all of her boring adventureless memories. But not all of her memories were boring. She had a good life. It might not have been a fantasy life, but it was stable. She dreamt back to days with Jess, swimming in the pool, and nights with her ex-boyfriend, settling down after a long night’s shift at the bar. She’d be so exhausted that she’d practically crawl through the pitch dark apartment to find Michael already asleep in bed. She dreamt about how she’d climb into the bed beside him and he’d instinctively reach out and pull her closer to him, nuzzling his face into her shoulder to fall back asleep. She remembered that feeling of warmth and security encasing her as she drifted off to sleep.
Except that warmth and security wasn’t just a dream. As Zoey’s consciousness grew, she became more aware of the fact that there was someone in the bed with her, their arms wrapped around her stomach. Automatically her first thought was that Brett’s date must not have gone as well as he’d hoped. But she started to realize more and more that not only was she not in her bed, but the faint red glow on the inside of her eyelids told her that it was morning now, and the way this person’s arm rested across her side so comfortably, and the sweet, yet spicy scent of the person’s breath on the back of her neck was something she never encountered with Brett, who normally smelled of beer and stale peanuts. Zoey suddenly came-to, gasping and pushing herself away from the figure behind her, which caused them to sit up in a panic and gasp as well.
“Harry? What the fuck are you doing here?” her vision barely came into focus.
“What am I doing here? What are you doing here? I thought you were Rory!” Harry’s eyes widened.
“Why the fuck would I be Rory?! Rory’s with you!” she shot back, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
Comprehension of what she just said smacked her in the face and she slowly took her hands from her face to get a good look at Harry’s face. She saw his expression range the emotions in a matter of seconds from confusion to realization, hurt, annoyance, and anger. Zoey sat up, eyes wider, holding her hands out and motioning for him to calm down.
“Hang on a minute,” Zoey pleaded as he stood up, “I didn’t mean to say that, I was half asleep when I came home and you scared the shit out of me. I think I just misunderstood her last night.”
“I fucking knew it,” Harry ignored her, pacing the room, “I knew she was cheating.”
“Alright, now that’s a bit dramatic,” Zoey rolled her eyes, getting out of the bed, “You’re not dating yet, so let’s just relax. You don’t know where she is.”
“Where else would she be?” he shot back.
“Hello? She has other friends besides me and Nancy. Let’s not jump to conclusions. She said she would be back in the morning, let’s just make a cup of coffee. I’m sure she can straighten this out when she gets here and she’ll be so excited to see you.”
Under different circumstances, Zoey would have been excited to see Harry. But her head was pounding from the abrupt wake-up call that she honestly couldn’t figure out her sentiments just yet. She had to physically drag Harry out of the room and keep a hand on him at all times in an attempt to keep him grounded and from running off, whether it was her squeezing his arm, holding his hand, or grabbing his shoulders. He was so full of tension that it just barely worked.
They sipped their coffee at the kitchen island and Zoey did her best to distract him by asking about his final show and trying to talk about what he was going to do when he got back home to England, but it was no use. Harry’s eyes bore holes into the countertop gripped onto his mug so tightly that she was certain it would shatter any minute now when they heard the front door open. Harry instantly got to his feet, darting into view with Zoey at his heels, pulling him back by his wrists when Aurora walked in, her grin fading at the sight of them.
“Harry,” Rory breathed, taking a step back.
“Where were you?” He demanded, yanking his arm from Zoey.
Both girls recoiled, surprised by his tone and actions. Neither of them had ever seen Harry so angry before. It was completely out of character that it sent them both into a temporary loss for words.
Zoey was the first to bounce back, giving Rory the biggest apologetic eyes she could muster, “I’m so sorry, Rory. I think there was just a misunderstanding. I thought you said you were going to Harry’s last night and I spoke before thinking. He’s just had a long flight, that’s all. I told him you were probably just with a friend and I misheard you.”
“I-” Rory stuttered, looking between the two, unsure of what to say.
“You were with Brett, weren’t you?” Harry accused, eyes glaring.
Zoey shot her head at Harry and gritted her teeth, “Would you stop it with the Brett thing? She wasn’t with Brett! You know him and I have a thing going on. Stop accusing her!”
But when she turned her attention back to Aurora, the color had drained from her face and her eyes glassed over. Zoey furrowed her brows as Rory’s gaze turned to her, pleading as she shot her hands over her mouth and let out a sob, tears finally spilling from her eyes, “Zoey, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to lie to you. It just happened. I swear this is the only time. I didn’t mean for this to happen. We were only planning on hanging out but one thing led to another. I’m so sorry!” she begged.
Zoey’s heart dropped at the sight of her friend and roommates anguish and guilt, trying to take everything in. All she could muster to say was, “Okay.”
“Okay?” Harry spat, “I fucking told you this would happen!” He turned his attention back to Rory who was still crying, “I came back here for you! I was going to ask you to be my girlfriend today! Instead, I come here to surprise you, find my best friend in your bed, and find out that you were sleeping with her boyfriend? What kind of person does that?”
His voice boomed so deeply that Zoey felt the vibrate in her chest with every syllable he spoke. It was so loud that it managed to wake Nancy, the heaviest of sleepers, who pitter-pattered down the hallway to see what all of the commotion was about. Zoey managed to squeak out a quick, “He’s not my boyfriend!” but no one heard over the screaming match that pursued.
“Don’t you fucking dare try to insinuate I’m a whore! I’m not your fucking girlfriend! You had nearly half a year to ask me out and you didn’t! I told you I wasn’t going to sit around and wait forever!” Rory scowled at Harry. His jaw tightened with each word she hurled, “What was I supposed to think? You talk to my roommate you’ve only known for three months more than you talk to me! You fly back here just to spend time with her, you barely spoke to me that weekend except when you wanted to fuck! And that was only after you spent all day in her bedroom! You tell me what the fuck I was supposed to think!? How would you feel if I did that?!” Nancy softly took hold of Aurora’s arm to try and soothe the tension.
“Rory, I didn’t mean-” Zoey started, suddenly feeling guilty, but was cut off by Harry.
“I was just trying to be a good friend! I told you that you had nothing to worry about! You knew Zoey was going through something and wasn’t in a good place! You saw her! Zoey’s been nothing but a good friend to you, so what are you even trying to say? First, you sleep with her boyfriend and now you’re accusing her of cheating with ME? You’re deflecting!”
“He’s not my boyfriend,” Zoey spoke louder this time, but again it fell upon deaf ears as Rory spoke.
“I’m not accusing Zoey of anything!” she turned her attention towards her roommate, her eyes softening, “Zoey, I’m so sorry, I know nothing happened between you and Harry. And I would never do anything to try and hurt you. I promise I didn’t mean for this to happen.”
“But it did happen, and I fucking said it would, didn’t I?” Harry, turned towards Zoey.
“Oh, you said it would happen?” Rory’s sarcasm dripped through her teeth like silk, “Congratulations! Once again, your instincts were correct! What do you want? A fucking medal? If you knew it would happen, why did you even come here?”
“Because I wanted to be with you!”
“If you wanted to be with me so fucking badly, why did it take you five months to figure it out?! You never really wanted me! I was just a convenience for you! That’s why you waited until the tour was over! You have nothing else to occupy your time with!”
“And that’s why you ran to fuck Zoey’s boyfriend, is it? Because he’s emotionally available for you?” Harry’s sarcasm intensifies.
“He’s not my fucking boyfriend!” Zoey screamed, standing in between them, causing the two to retreat, taking a step back. Zoey glowered back and forth between Harry and Aurora, frustrated at the disgusting display of animosity towards each other. She had half a mind to start screaming at them, but when she saw Nancy’s reassuring gaze, she took a breath and calmly reasoned, “Listen. Obviously, we all need to talk things out, but right now the tension is way too high and it’s way too early in the morning to think clearly. Let’s all just take some time to calm down.”
“How about I just go?” Harry retorted, pulling away from Zoey and storming towards the door.
Zoey watched him as he stomped to the door, shooting a glance at Nancy who mouthed, “Go.”
She quickly grabbed her phone and threw on the first pair of shoes she found before jogging towards the door. Rory grabbed her hand quickly, eyes still red and raw from crying. Her voice was so soft that it was barely a whisper, “Zoey. I’m so sorry.”
Zoey looked into the eyes of her roommate and it nearly broke her heart. She placed a hand over Rory’s and managed a sympathetic smile, “It’s okay,” she said, seeing the relief wash over Rory. “I’ll talk to him.”
Rory nodded and Zoey ran off, catching the elevator doors just before they closed and slipping in with a still fuming Harry. When the doors closed and the elevator began its descent, his arms jerked upwards, grabbing onto the back of his neck, doubling over as he shouted, “FUCK!”
This should be fun.

Chapter 4: Feeling and Healing
Worldbuilding Note on Witches: Witches may just be the most complex supernatural creatures in all the worlds. What makes them special is that they were not around when the universe was created, while all other creatures were. Even vampires, only created by turning humans, had a group of Originals that were first created by the universe. On the other hand, witches were humans who taught themselves the art of magic used predominantly by fairies, demons, and jinns. It wasn’t an easy task to learn magic by any means, and the truth was that most who tried ended up failing to do more than a simple spell. The few that could grasp the art of magic had the ability to become one of the most powerful creatures of all the worlds and live thousands of years.
----------------------
Namjoon fled the guest bedroom, Seokjin following only a few steps behind, leaving the other five in the sudden silence. The alpha were-shifter had ripped his arms out of the two vampires' grips, and Jungkook was looking after him with guilt in his eyes and a trembling lower lip.
Yoongi sighed and ruffled the younger vampire’s wavy locks. “Don’t worry about your Namjoon-hyung, he’ll come around.”
Jungkook didn’t reply, his gaze only falling to the ground and his eyebrows pinching together.
“I’m not manipulating you,” Hoseok spoke up, his voice rather sad. The four packmates turned to watch him struggle to sit up in the bed. He was a bit shaken up from the shapeshifter’s hostile behavior, but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle. “I swear I’m not.”
Jimin hurried over to urge the other fairy to lay back down along with Taehyung. “I believe you, Hoseok-ssi. Your aura is too kind to be manipulative. Namjoon-hyung just has some trust issues.”
“I don’t know how to prove it to you,” the orange fairy continued.
Hoseok continued to mumble but no one could make out exactly what he was saying anymore as his eyelids drooped and his body relaxed back against the pillows once more.
Taehyung ran a hand through the older man’s bright orange locks. “Sleep now, Hoseok-ssi. You need rest.”
The fairy was unconscious before he even finished the sentence.
“Jimin-ah,” Yoongi began softly, taking charge of the situation. “Since Seokjin-hyung is busy at the moment, why don’t you and Jungkook make us some easy dinner, yeah? I’ll help Taehyung tend to Hoseok.”
The pink fairy wanted to argue, wanted to stay, but he knew that he couldn’t do anything for Hoseok, at least not at the moment. So, Jimin instead nodded his head and stood up from the edge of the mattress, making his way over to the two vampires still hovering in the middle of the room. Jimin reached out and grasped one of Jungkook’s hands with his small one, guiding the quiet vampire out the door with him.
True to his word, Yoongi followed Taehyung to his workroom on the first floor, greeting the rather large wolf that laid casually on a large, fluffy dog bed in one of the corners.
Eunji was Taehyung’s familiar. Not all witches had familiars as it was difficult to come across an animal that shared a similar magic aura. Eunji was an absolutely gorgeous creature. She was a grey wolf, her coat the obvious color of grey, but tinted with a hint of warm brown. Her eyes were a shimmering gold color that was always piercing. Despite being around the familiar for years now, Yoongi still felt a shiver go down his spine every time their eyes locked. (Eunji) Nevertheless, Eunji was tamed by her connection with the witch, and now really saw the rest of the pack as her family.
The creature watched lazily as the vampire assisted Taehyung in concocting some sort of energy elixir. While the tea they had given Hoseok earlier acted like a caffeine boost, this potion would be much more powerful and suited to the fairy’s drastic state.
Yoongi basically just listened to the witch rattle off different ingredients for him to grab off of the shelf. Besides that, the two of them were pretty silent as Taehyung brewed the potion in a small cauldron on the stove. It bubbled a bright blue and green.
Yoongi would never, despite seeing it time and time again, understand how the potions came to be. To him, it just looked like different ingredients going into a pot, but somehow created a drink that had magical properties. Taehyung had laughed at him the one time he mentioned it, telling the older that the process of brewing involved adding the witch’s own power. Unlike other forms of magic that were practiced by multiple species, potions were unique to witches only.
After a few minutes of silence and stirring, Taehyung moved the cauldron off of the burner, turned it off, and ladled some of the contents into a mug.
“Take this to Hoseok-ssi and try to get him to drink at least half of it,” Taehyung ordered, handing over the mug full of the blue-green potion. “With how bad things were, this won’t keep him going for long so I’m going to contact a few friends right away, try to find someone who might be able to help.”
Yoongi simply nodded and moved to head out the door. He only stopped when he heard a quiet “hyung?” behind him. The younger man was looking at him as though trying to decipher his thoughts.
“Namjoon’s not the only one with trust issues,” Taehyung pointed out. “Do you think he’s manipulating us, too?”
The vampire turned fully back to the other. “No, I don’t,” he replied honestly. “For some reason...there’s something about him that makes me believe him.”
Nodding and humming in agreement, Taehyung moved over from the stove to the computer desk on the other side of the room. “I think so, too.”
They left it simply at that, Taehyung starting up the laptop and Yoongi heading back to the guest room.
Yoongi managed to urge the orange fairy to half-consciousness, enough to get him to drink most of the elixir that had cooled down enough by now. He couldn’t help but fluff the pillow and tuck the newcomer into his bed once he was finished.
The vampire sighed at his own actions before he took his leave once more, heading down to the kitchen to check up on the two cooking dinner.
Jimin was humming softly under his breath as he tended to the meat sizzling in a frying pan. Jungkook was preparing several kinds of vegetables and rice at the island in the center of the kitchen, pouting as he appeared to be lost in his own thoughts. He didn’t even look up to greet the older vampire when he usually approached him like an excited puppy.
“He’s fine,” Jimin told him as he glanced over, “I think he’s just really processing what he did wrong today.”
“Well, it definitely wasn’t the best idea to bring a stranger home,” Yoongi replied. “He’s still so young, though. I don’t want him to be so hard on himself.”
“Gods, you’re such a softie under that stone-cold exterior of yours,” the pink fairy teased.
Yoongi hummed and strutted over to stand behind Jimin, his arms wrapping around the younger one. “Only for my pack mates.” He sealed the words with a press of his lips to Jimin’s nape.
Footsteps came down from upstairs and the two at the stove looked up to see Namjoon and Seokjin walking into the kitchen, hand in hand. Namjoon had been visibly calmed down from earlier, no doubt in part to Seokjin’s “omega magic” as he called it. Now, the alpha looked more tired and deep in thought.
Namjoon was guided to sit down on one of the tall island stools by Seokjin, next to Jungkook, who had finished preparing his part of the dinner and moved over there. Next to each other, their expressions were identical. Both were so caught up in their heads that they barely recognized the world around them.
Seokjin picked up the bowl of vegetables that Jungkook had chopped up and brought it over to the stove where the other two still stood. “Is it about time to add these?” he asked Jimin.
The fairy nodded and took the bowl from him with a thankful smile. As the vegetables and meat finished up cooking, the vampire draped over his back didn’t bother to move.
“How are you feeling about all of this, Seokjin-hyung?” Jimin questioned.
The omega huffed out a laugh. “I’m fine. How about you, my lovely, ever-caring fairy?”
“I’m good.”
----------------------------
Taehyung huffed out a frustrated breath.
Witches weren’t common amongst any world, so trying to track down someone who even knew one was difficult. Of course, there were the rather famous witches whose name was widespread for one shocking action or another, but there were also those who kept to themselves and did things silently. Those were the ones Taehyung was on the lookout for.
Online forums discussing encounters with different, rather unknown witches gave Taehyung half a dozen leads that trailed to dead ends after hours of searching. The first few acquaintances he contacted were unfortunately not of any help either. He was frustrated with the lack of progress, but his sheer determination to help Hoseok overshadowed any other emotion.
“I’m not sure where to go from here,” he conveyed to his friend, Baekhyun, over the phone. He knew that the older man was quite a busy person with his own pack, so he hadn’t wanted to call him unless he really needed to. Now at his wit's end, Taehyung hoped that his old friend might be able to give him a few names.
The two witches had met when Taehyung was still in his earlier years of learning magic. Baekhyun had taken him under his wing in a way different to any mentor Taehyung had had before. Instead of the usual firm, teacher-like attitude, the older male had approached him as a friend and became somewhat of a family to the younger for many years. By his side, Taehyung had learned more about magic and about who he himself was as a witch and a person. Baekhyun was undoubtedly the most influential figure in Taehyung’s sixty-seven years of existence.
“That’s a tough one,” Baekhyun replied. “Curses like that are nearly impossible to reverse.”
“I know, but I can’t just leave him to die without doing everything I can to help him.”
The older witch chuckled, “We lived together for fifteen years, trust me when I say I know that you would go to the ends of the universe to help someone in need.”
“My other mentors told me that it would be my downfall,” Taehyung stated as he ran his hand absentmindedly through the soft fur on Eunji’s back. At some point over the last few hours, she had made her way over and sat next to him, occasionally nudging him in encouragement. “They said that I care too much. That I can’t help everyone.”
“But you already know that,” Baekhyun added knowingly. “You know that perhaps better than anyone.”
The younger witch hummed, “Everyone has gone through hard times, Baekhyun. My past horrors are nothing special.”
With an audible sigh, Baekhyun changed the subject, knowing from experience that trying to argue about that with Taehyung led nowhere. “I think I might have a lead for you, but don’t get your hopes up too high.”
Despite himself, Taehyung straightened up in his seat in anticipation. “I won’t,” he lied, “Just tell me.
“You’ve heard of the Dragon?”
Taehyung scoffed, “Of course I have. Every witch in South Korea knows that name. But he’s just a myth at this point really.”
“Not necessarily,” Baekhyun corrected. “I admit that I thought he was only a myth most of my life until I met someone a few years ago who told me about a very interesting encounter he had with the Dragon.”
“And you believe them?”
“Choi Minho,” the older witch started into the story. “He’s a bit older than me. One night we were having drinks together and he told me about his encounter with the Dragon. He didn’t give me all of the details, but apparently, the Dragon helped him bring his familiar back from the brink of death.”
“That sounds insane,” Taehyung breathed out in awe, his fingers momentarily tightening on Eunji’s fur. The thought of losing his familiar was heartbreaking.
The wolf gave a quiet whine, sensing her witch’s emotions. Eunji leaned up and licked his cheek in gentle comfort.
“That’s what I was thinking at the time as well,” Baekhyun replied. “But I’ve known Minho for quite a while now, worked with him on many things, and he’s never given me a reason to doubt his word before.”
“And you think he could help me get in contact with the Dragon,” Taehyung asked.
“If anyone could reverse a curse like the one on your guest, it would be the greatest witch in all of South Korean history,” Baekhyun stated.
Taehyung hummed, “You’re not wrong there. I’m not entirely convinced but if you could give me this Choi Minho’s number, then that would be greatly appreciated.”
“Of course I can, and I understand your reservations about this, that’s why I told you not to get your hopes too high.”
“It sounds pretty far-fetched,” Taehyung admitted. “But I’ll take any lead I can get.”
“I’ll send you his number then,” Baekhyun promised. “But Taehyung, you sound tired, so go to sleep now and give him a call later.”
“Okay, yeah, I guess I should do that.” Taehyung let out an involuntary yawn. “Thanks, hyung.”
“No problem, Tae-ah. Let me know how it works out or if you need anything else.”
Once his phone was set down on the desk, Taehyung turned to lock eyes with his familiar. “I never would have thought that the Dragon could still possibly be alive, Eunji-ah,” he murmured to the animal.
The large grey wolf nudged at his thigh with her nose and then his calves, urging him to his feet. Go to sleep, Tae.
The witch smiled at the soft voice that appeared in his head. “Yes, ma’am.”
Taehyung chuckled as Eunji rolled her eyes and trotted back over to her bed in the corner, settling in for the night.
After checking in on their guest and assuring that his potion was working to elevate his magic energy, Taehyung walked into the bedroom he shared with his boyfriends. The witch, along with Jimin, had years ago created a large bed with their combined magic that defied physics and managed to fit all six of them on it (and a few more than that). Now, he found Jungkook, Jimin and Yoongi cuddled up on that very bed, limbs intertwined and fast asleep. Namjoon and Seokjin were noticeably missing from the bunch, so Taehyung guessed that they needed the night for themselves and slept on the futon in Namjoon’s office.
Taehyung changed out of his day clothes and into his pajamas, eyes drooping with the long hours he’d been awake. After cleaning up for the night in the bathroom, the witch slipped in behind Jungkook on the bed and wrapped his arms around him.
---------------------------
The next time Hoseok rose from his unconsciousness, he could see daylight streaming in through the windows, the sun illuminating the room. His body felt heavy, his limbs tired, and his head was a bit cloudy.
Looking through the haze, a figure perched next to his bed captured his attention quickly.
The fairy expected one of the pack to be watching over him - Jungkook, Yoongi, Jimin, or perhaps that kind witch, Taehyung - but he was shocked to find that it was the two shapeshifters seated in a chair next to his bed.
Hoseok blinked. He wanted to say something but his throat and mouth felt dry and sandpaper-like. Attempting to speak only caused him to emit a rough croak.
The omega - Seokjin, he remembered - sat up straighter upon seeing him awake. “Don’t speak just yet. Joon, grab the water for him.”
The alpha nearly tripped over his own feet to pick up the glass of water from the bedside table. “Here, here! Please drink-” The man then succeeded in tripping over his feet as he turned back around, the glass slipping out of his hand. Even with their shapeshifter reflexes, the alpha wasn’t able to catch it again in time. Surprisingly, it didn’t break into a million pieces as Hoseok expected but rather clattered around for a few moments before rolling to a stop.
No one was really paying attention to the glass, however, because the contents of the cup had been thrown in Seokjin’s face and the other two were preoccupied with the soaked omega.
Seokjin simply shut his eyes and sighed as water dripped from the ends of his bangs and streaked down his cheeks. Based on his reaction, the fairy could tell that this accident wasn’t an uncommon occurrence in the house.
Hoseok bit back the laugh that threatened to tear from his tired body. For such a big, bad alpha, Namjoon - he finally remembered his name - sure was clumsy.
“Oh, dear!” Namjoon exclaimed. “Sorry, hyung!”
The omega reopened his eyes and looked at his boyfriend fondly. “It’s alright, Joonie. This is why Taehyung and Jimin charmed all of our glasses to be shatter-proof.” Seokjin picked up the glass from the floor a few feet away and carefully held it out to the alpha. “Go refill this in the bathroom, and for the love of all beings, please, try not to spill it again.”
Though the words were gentle and fond, Namjoon looked thoroughly chastised as he took the glass and walked off to the en suite with his head down.
Seokjin smiled after him with heart eyes before turning back to the fairy. “Sorry about that. I must go get changed. But it is good to see you awake, Hoseok-ssi.”
The omega had barely left the room when the other returned, holding the glass cautiously with both hands and taking careful steps. Quite an amusing and cute sight, Hoseok thought. “Drink what you can, you must be thirsty.”
Hoseok took the glass from the shapeshifter with shaking but eager hands. The cool water quenched his parched throat and he downed the whole thing quickly.
“How are you feeling?” Namjoon asked, his voice surprisingly soft.
“Better,” he replied, voice much less croaky than before. “More alive.”
The alpha nodded, “The energy potion Taehyung made must be working alright, then.”
An awkward silence fell over the two, neither quite sure what to say.
“I need to apologize,” the shapeshifter blurted out rather suddenly. “Not just for dropping the water.”
The fairy opened his mouth to say something, but Namjoon stopped him with a raised hand.
“Please...I am so sorry for my accusations before,” he apologized, barely able to meet the bed-ridden man’s eyes. He appeared truly ashamed of his actions. “They were uncalled for, you haven’t done anything to threaten or hurt us. I...I overreacted and I’m very sorry.”
Hoseok let out a huff of breath in relief that Namjoon was warming up to him and gave the alpha a reassuring smile. “Apology accepted. I understand why you acted the way you did. I’m a stranger that’s invaded your nest.”
“That doesn’t excuse my harsh words,” Namjoon replied.
“Truly, Namjoon-ssi, if I had a pack, I would also be overprotective of them.”
The shapeshifter bit his lip and looked down. “There...there’s something more than that,” he admitted.
The fairy pursed his lips, “What do you mean?”
“You...you startled me,” Namjoon tried to explain, brows furrowing when the words didn’t come out exactly as he’d wanted. “The way that you made me feel...made my alpha feel...”
“Something bad?”
The shapeshifter shook his head, “At first, I thought so. But after I was able to think about it for a while and talk with Seokjin, no. Not something bad. Something good.”
Hoseok’s jaw dropped. It didn’t take a genius to see where this was going. “You mean like...like...”
“Like pack mates.”
“Pack mates?” Hoseok echoed.
“Pack mates,” Namjoon confirmed sheepishly.
“Pack mates,” the fairy repeated once more, a little dazed with the thought.

A/N: Yes, I will address the fact that Taehyung’s familiar is an actual wolf while his two pack mates/boyfriends are wolf shifters. Just wait ;)
