President Richard Nixon: The War On Poverty
Source:The New Democrat “The arguments that framed President Richard Nixon’s Family Assistance Plan have wielded tremendous influence over US antipoverty and family policy debates, setting the stage for five decades of policy development that have led us back to a “guaranteed income” through the temporary expansion of the child tax credit in 2021. Today, the US faces a safety-net design that…

headcnanon/fanficitition: motngoemry yator is yanderge for glamrock fredy but trans rigjts are activelgy being striped away across the unitd states an transphobia is rampant acros all comunities
start
glakroco freddy: helo motngoemry gator whhat is going on
motngoemry gator: republicans hav been spewing out an endless stream of anti-trans propoganda, threats and legislaition throighout the U.S, to th point wher republicans are able to build an entire cult folowing and even win positions of polticical power by basig the majority of their entire campaign off of mockig and threatening the transgender comunity. ther are laws in several U.S stats right now trying to strip the trans community - especialy trans youth - of what litle rights they already have by restrictig access to gender affirmig healthcare, tryig to keep trans people oujt of sports, FORCIBLY detransitionig trans people, banning changes in ID, and a LOT mor. some states are even tryig to take trans children awya from their families and charge their guardians as CRIMINALS for givig their children HEALTHCARE. this is literaly a governmenr-approved genocide, as restricting access to gender affirmation WILL result in th deaths of an innumerable amount of trans people in all states that pass such legislaton. ontop of this, education of all LGBT identities (especially gender identites) ar beig banned from education on the basis of "grooming", which is an increeibly dangerous an obviously false rhetoric to b spreading. this same lack of education of lgbt identities is what has alowed transphobia to ge tto the point it is currently at. the worst of the laws are hapening in red states lik texas, florida and alabama, but therg are only less than 10 states in al of the U.S that are speculated to remain safe for transgeder peple on a legislative level within an election cycle. but thats JUST on a legislative level. societaly, trans peple ar at the most risk of homelessness, harrassment, assault and murder out of any other LGBT identity, and thats just the results frm trans people who reported having these things happen to them, whic alot of trans people do not feel safe doing due to rampant societal and systemic transphobia present in most helplines an law enforcement. some of the biggest things causing all of this transphobia right now are right wing reactionary influencers along with news outlets like New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, Fox News and mor, who hav been publishing a fuckton of propoganda as of late. these posts further lead the normalzation of transphobia across the country, and you hav pribably heard the result of this transphobia just living your everyday life thanks to the popularity of the dangerous lies they have spread, such as trans people being 'dangerous', biological advangtages in sports, drag events that allow the atendance of children being grooming events, and a lot more [all of whch are factually proven to be bull shit]. these outlets are also spreadig false information about transgende people that has lead cis people to feel comfortable ommitting trans pepole from conversations and spaces that their participation is crucial in such as human rights, LGBT issues, topics related to healthcare, etc. this ommission is incrediby dangerous as it favors the comfort of cis people ovr the inclusion of trans people in situations that can, at worst, be life or death for them. transgender people need and deserve a voice in al facets of society.
motngoenry agtor: obviously the main groups to blame for transphobia and transphobic laws are cis people and the GOP, but demicrats, progressives an the LGB comunities have all faild the transgende r community on every posible level as well. not only are the large majority refusing to do even tje bare minimum to help out the trans community, but many lefitsts actively help the GOP in pushing anti-trans rhetoric. this iz especially shameful from the LGB community, as trans people played a HUGE role in progresing protections for mariage equality, protections for LGB comminities as minority groups, and for societal acceptanc of queer identities. in return, the LGB comunities have done next to nothing to do the same for trans people. sinc republicans are not goig to elt up at all, more HAS to be don by leftists and LGB folks, ESPECIALLY those in power, to protject the trans community. the curent state of trans rights in the country right now should be seen as a masive failure by all left leanig people. it is completly unacceptable. the left is not doig enough for transgender people. leftist voters need to show up t the polls an look into who an what they are votig for. anti trans laws are being drafted acros the country as we speak. it is crucial rigjt now tht the left speaks out and does mor against the onslaught of anti trans legislation going around right now. the isues transgender people face in the U.S go MUCH further beyond what i have stated here.
flamrock fredt: wow
motngomery gator: yeha also neopronouns an xenogenders ar cool fuck all of you.
end.
sory for inactivity i hav been sleepig. i wil be back. Some dajy.
[[ALS. i wold just like to add since i mentiond drag that i am aware that drag and being trans is not th same. unfortunstely drag is a big talking point from transphobes rigjt now so it does end up beig relevant in conversations about transphobia.]]

All of y'all insisting your parents and grandparents being Republicans is a result of misinformation and the shrewd and careful calculation tactics of the devious and wickedly intelligent Republican party and claiming your parents are good people at heart, they've just been mislead through insidious foreign bot social media tactics are sorry, not relatable.
My mom was raised by Republicans and has been a progresive for decades by simple virtue of not being a fucking braindead idiot or an asshole.
She's a goddamn boomer who doesn't know how to install an app on her phone, yet she still doesn't fall for that QAnon bullshit or believe a single thing she hears on Fox News.
Sorry your parents suck, but trying to insist they were tricked into being racists is just a coping mechanism for the fact that the people you had the misfortune sliding out of are idiots, but worse, they're also assholes.
I'm sorry, y'all are gonna call me privileged or elitist for this, but whatever.
I find it sad that tumblr is trying to hock this rhetoric about like, JK Rowling and how oh nooooo, poor baby multi millionaire Jk Rowling was TRICKED into becoming a TERF.
or, it's not boomers faults theyre so susceptible to lies, I'm sorry.
It is.
These people are assholes.
Stop trying to defend your racist father. You can still love that stupid fuck, if you must, but don't try and defend him on Twitter by insisting "reasonable good and kind people can become Nazis."
You're wrong actually and your take is fucking stupid.
Tumblr as always never wants to accept any personal accountability, y'all think you're intellectuals for always blaming "systemic something."
Anthropology MA here!
I'm here to tell you that people suck ass. They're bitter and ugly selfish bastards who don't care, who are stupid and happy to be so, who are rotten to their core.
Trying to make some bullshit excuse about how social media makes people ignorant and stupid, wrong.
People use social media to validate their opinions.
If they're susceptible to radicalization, it's because they're stupid and were already prone towards radicalization.
Your stupid grandfather believing a news article by breitbart about how blacks are gonna roast white babies alive is braindead.
You can't blame systemic whatever or technological changes or the evils of social media.
It's stupidity.
It's literal stupidity.
Through out all of human history, human beings have shown themselves capable of reasoning, of deducing from existing evidence, of objectively problem solving.
When human beings stop doing that and believe whatever it is someone else is telling them simply because uhhh cultural traditionalism, guess what?
They're simply stupid.
Doesn't matter what era, what period, what dominating cultural views there are.
Human race has always had its idiots.
You're blaming the damn symptom, not the real disease.
You're defending people for believing and having blind faith in a flawed system.
In no human era is this acceptable.
Shut up about how old people don't know any better.
They're not fucking infants, they're just assholes.

I’ve got to say that I and Yahoo are not on the same wave link when it comes to defining a real challenger. The DNC has a popular young progresive and they want another safe Republican to replace her. Please note that this information is NOT included on here web page:
“ Michelle Caruso-Cabrera (born February 9, 1967) is a journalist running for Congress, and a Democrat who is a former Republican. A regular CNBC contributor, she was Chief International Correspondent for eight years. In late 2019, Caruso-Cabrera moved from Trump Tower to Sunnyside, Queens. “

Select L.A. County/California Races, March 3, 2020
Hi friends, it’s me again. I am here to offer my opinions on how you should vote. As before I am up front about my biases: I am a Warren supporter, I live in L.A. and I am actively pro-density (Yay SB50, you deserved better) and pro-transit. I live in the east Valley, so I tend to focus more closely on the issues that directly impact my side of town, though I try to keep an ear out on things countywide.
Last time I did this a couple of folks reached out to give me gifts to say thanks for doing this guide. This year, I would encourage anybody who wants to say thanks to donate $5 to Fair Fight, a group founded by Stacey Abrams to fight voter suppression in the 2020 election. We’re gonna need all the help we can get in November to defeat the GOP, and Abrams is doing it in a smart way.
Other voting guides
This is my voting guide and reflects my general opinion on things. However, I am indebeted to many other guides, including the Knock L.A. Voter Guide and the L.A. Podcast Voter Guide for their takes. I don’t always agree with them, but both of these are invaluable resources for the progressive voter in Los Angeles.
L.A. City Council
This year the even numbered seats are up for re-election. Half of them are effectively uncontested, a couple are very much contested, and two are free for all because of term limits.
CD2: Ayinde Jones
Look none of these candidates set my heart afire. I work with Councilmember Krekorian’s office a lot (remember, I live in the east Valley) and he’s a competent politician with a ton of endorsements and community ties, I have no illusion he’s going to win his full term comfortably on March 3. However, I believe it’s good to encourage competition, and Ayinde Jones did a good (not great) job at the candidate forum I attended hitting on themes of how the parts of CD2 north of Victory are being left behind as the area evolves. I wish he were better on S50, but then again all three candidates were opposed, so that’s kind of a wash. I look forward to hearing more from Jones in the future.
CD4: Sarah Kate Levy
From a paucity of options to a surplus of options next door. CD4 is currently represented by David Ryu, a politician who came out of the Neighborhood Council system and went on to become...a city hall politician. Both his opponents are great. Nithya Raman is the founder of SELAH, a group that does amazing work helping the unhoused in Los Angeles, and recently led Times Up! Hollywood for a year. I’d vote for her in a heartbeat, but I am encouraging people to vote for Sarah Kate Levy for two reasons: first, Levy is unabashedly supportive of SB50 and we need this kind of leadership, and second I am hoping these two excellent women will get so many votes that they overwhelm Ryu and leave him in third place. Fingers crossed.
CD6: Bill Haller
This is another shoo-in. Nury Martinez is the City Council president and has the backing of the County party and all the local clubs. I am endorsing Bill Haller because he supports an agenda that includes more public funding for affordable housing, more and better transit, and climate justice.
CD8: Marqueece Harris-Dawson
There are no other candidates in this race, so congratulations on your re-election Councilmember Harris-Dawson.
CD10: Aura Vasquez
This is an open seat, and the smart money has Mark Ridley-Thomas as the frontrunner. Ridley-Thomas is a current member of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors (more on them later) who is termed out of that position. I’m endorsing Aura Vasquez, a progressive activist with ties to Mid-City who has served as a commissioner for LADWP and led fights for renewable energy, banning single use plastics, and housing affordability in her community.
CD12: Loraine Lundquist
Dr. Lundquist rules. She takes public transit to debates, she is an honest to goodness scientist, and she nearly beat a Republican in what is the most conservative district in L.A. during a special election. I have donated money to this lady because we need to win this one. Her opponent, John Lee, wasted no time in trying to block housing for the homeless in his district and in attacking a successful safer streets project on Reseda Blvd. The city has a chance - a really great chance thanks to the realigned municipal elections - to toss out the worst possible councilmember in favor of the most progressive voice, don’t mess it up.
CD14: Cyndi Otteson
This race is Kevin de Léon’s to lose, but he won’t commit to serving a full term since he really wants to be mayor. I say let him have his spare time to run for mayor and select Ms. Otteson, a grassroots activist who has the support of the UTLA and who is the only voice in favor of the Colorado Blvd alignment of the NoHo to Pasadena BRT project. Transit equity matters, and Ms. Otteson deserves your vote this March.
LAUSD School Board
Deferring to the teachers’ endorsements on this one.
Board Seat 1: George McKenna
Board Seat 3: Scott Schmerlson
Board Seat 5: Jackie Goldberg
Board Seat 7: Patricia Castellanos
Glendale City Council: Dan Brotman
An environmental activist with progresive views, Brotman will be a useful voice in Glendale’s city hall.
District Attorney: Rachel Rossi
George Gascón and Rachel Rossi will both be light years better than the current county D.A., Jackie Lacey. Both have promised to make substantial reforms in the office. I am really torn on this one, since I think Gascón’s experience as a Deputy DA in San Francisco is a big deal, and since he has the backing of the County Party. I am endorsing Rossi in a tilt-at-windmills hope that somehow she and Gascón make it to the final ballot in November and give us a thoughtful debate between a career prosecutor bent on reform and a public defender whose goal is reform about methods and ideas. Anyway, don’t vote for Jackie Lacey is all I am saying here.
Superior Court
Voting for judges is stupid. We shouldn’t be doing this, but since we have to, I’ll make some suggestions. My math is based on other progressive endorsements, Party endorsements, and reverse-engineering some well known conservative voting guides to, if nothing else, make sure I am not voting for their endorsement.
Office 17: Shannon Kathleen Cooley (the race is uncontested)
Office 42: Linda Sun
Office 72: Myanna Dellinger
Office 76: Emily Cole (Cole is a prosecutor, but her opponent is a man who literally changed his name to “Judge” after serving as a judge in Stanislaus County)
Office 80: Klint James McKay
Currently an administrative law judge, he impressed Public Defender Union representatives with his thoughtful and articulate answers to their questioning.
Office 97: Sherry L. Powell (Powell’s opponent ran as a conservative Republican for state assembly in 2018, this is a defensive vote)
Office 129: Kenneth Fuller
Office 131: Michelle Kelley (the race is uncontested)
Office 141: Lana Kim (the race is uncontested)
Office 145: Troy Slaten (Slaten’s opponent has a troubling history of misconduct and should not be elected to a judgeship)
Office 150: Tom Parsekian
Office 162: David D. Diamond
L.A. County Board of Supervisors
The Supervisors oversee policy for the County, including all unincorporated areas, the LASD, County Health services, etc. For a county of TEN MILLION PEOPLE, there are only five supervisors, so they have a hugely outsized influence.
Seat 2: Jorge Nuno
A lot of progressives are endorsing Holly Mitchell in this seat. Me, I just can’t go there when she’s speaking at events for Livable California and when she gave a floor speech opposing SB50. Though he’s the front runner, Herb Wesson doesn’t deserve your vote - he was City Council president when the homelessness crisis exploded and he’s done little to address it. Nuno is a progressive and has an ambitious platform.
Seat 4: Janice Hahn
She’s solid, and nobody’s pushing her from the left.
Seat 5: John Harabedian
Kathryn Barger, the incumbent, is a Republican who supports Trump’s immigration policies. John Harabedian is a solidly Center Left Democrat who has the backing of the county party and who could, in this presidential election year, win an upset in what is traditionally a Republican stronghold of L.A. County. Vote for him.
County Ballot Measures
Measure R: YES YES YES
This will provide crucial tools to the already existing civilian oversight committee for the LASD, including subpoena powers. It also requires the commission to study ways to divert offenders from jail. You need to vote yes on this.
State Ballot Measures
Prop 13: Yes
$15B in bonds to invest in public schools and “local control” to allow local school districts to issue larger bonds. The only real opposition is from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, a revanchist organization that is singlehandedly responsible for much of our state and local problems in the past few decades. Don’t listen to them.
Congressional Elections
Despite some misgivings, I am generally supporting the progressive challengers here to hopefully lead to a Progressive/Center Left election in the fall.
CD 25: Christy Smith
She has a good track record in the state assembly and a strong local support network. She’s not a carpetbagger with a YouTube show, and she’s not a Republican.
CD 28: Adam Schiff
He’s not the most progressive guy in Congress but he’s been critical to holding Trump accountable. He’s earned this vote.
CD 29: Angelica Duenas
Tony Cardenas is a bit of a non-entity on the national stage but he does good local work and he was an early vote in favor of impeachment. The rape allegations against him which troubled me last time were dismissed with prejudice in 2019. Cardenas has a progressive challenger, Angelica Marie Duenas, who has run in the past as a Green Party candidate. I don’t trust her decision to abandon that label and come into the Democrats after getting drubbed in 2018, but overall I like her ideas and I’d be happy to see her and Cardenas in a runoff this year.
CD 30: CJ Berina
Brad Sherman is an okay Congressmember. CJ Berina is a young, progressive challenger who’s attracted the attention of the Sunrise Movement. I’d vote for him to try to push the GOP out of the runoff and make this a race between the Center Left and the Progressive Left.
CD 34: Frances Yasmeen Motiwalla
Jimmy Gomez is solid; let’s push the GOP out of the runoff though by supporting this progressive.
State House
District 39: Luz Rivas
District 41: Chris Holden
District 43: Laura Friedman
District 44: Jacqui Irwin
District 45: Jesse Gabriel
District 46: Adrin Nazarian
District 48: Blanca Rubio
District 49: Edwin Chau
District 50: Richard Bloom
District 51: Wendy Carillo
District 53: Godfrey Plata
District 54: Tracey Jones
District 55: Andrew Rodriguez
District 58: Margaret Villa
District 59: Reggie Jones-Sawyer
District 62: Autumn Burke
District 63: Anthony Rendon
District 64: Fatima Iqbal-Zubair
District 66: Al Muratsuchi
District 70: Patrick O’Donnell
State Senate
SD 21: Kipp Mueller
SD 23: Abigail Medina
SD 25: No Endorsement - I rarely do this but honestly Anthony Portantino does not deserve your vote. Write in Mickey Mouse.
SD 27: Henry Stern
SD 29: Josh Newman
SD 31: Richard Roth
SD 33: Lena Gonzalez
SD 35: Steven Bradford
County Committees
Look this is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaay into the weeds. What I am going to say is this: I know that a lot of “progressive” slates are out there and I encourage you to try your best to vet them. In my district, one of the candidates is somebody I know personally - she actively campaigned for Jill Stein, she circulated the decades-old “Clinton Death List” to voters, and she pushed Pizzagate theories. I am not voting for this person, but she is endorsed by “Progressive California” so...just be careful.

last night’s Democratic primary results were overall very good:
• Christine Hallquist won the Democratic nomination for governor in Vermont. If she wins in November, she will be the first trans governor in U.S. history. She is a progressive who supports single-payer healthcare and increasing the minimum wage.
• Jahana Hayes won the Democratic primary for Connecticut’s fifth congressional district. She would be the first Black congress member from Connecticut, and she also embraces progressive policies. She easily defeated her more moderate/“establishment” opponent.
• Ilhan Omar won the Democratic primary for Minnesota’s fifth district. Along with Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, she is likely to become one of the first two Muslim women in Congress as they both have good chances of winning in November. She is a progressive Democrat endorsed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
• Progresive Justice Democrat Randy Bryce won the primary for Wisconsin’s first congressional district, the seat being vacated by everyone’s least favorite speaker, Paul Ryan.
• Bernie Sanders very easily won the Democratic primary for his re-election in Vermont.
• Overall, last night’s results were very good for diverse representation and the progressive policies espoused by the “left wing” of the Democratic Party.
• Also, the Republican candidate running to replace Paul Ryan looks so much like Paul Ryan that it’s fucking creepy:

I think all progressives have some gripes with the Democratic Party. Some are upset by the fact that they continually screw over progressive candidates in primaries. Others are upset by the fact that they prefer performative stunts to meaningful policy change. However, there is one problem with the Democratic Party that should concern every progresive: the Democratic Party is more willing to cooperate with the right than the left.
The party has been cooperating with the Lincoln Project the past month or so to produce negative advertisements about Donald Trump. The Lincoln Project was founded in 2019 by a group of Republicans. Chief among them, George Conway, the husband of Kellyanne Conway who was at one point on a shortlist to be named Trump’s Solicitor General. Furthermore, just a few days ago they announced that John Kasich would be speaking at the Democratic Convention; a politician they disparaged in 2016 when he was running for the Republican presidential nomination. The Democratic Party is more willing to work with Republicans to defeat Donald Trump than a center-left candidate like Bernie Sanders.
Let me first say that there’s nothing wrong with reaching out across the aisle. Cooperation is a necessity in government. However, if Joe Biden is able to win the presidency off of this strategy, I fear The Democratic Party will take it as a sign that they should move right. The party tries so hard to court Republican voters, completely neglecting the fact that there are millions of leftists in the US that they could easily excite by embracing progressive policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. Instead of embracing the left, the party sucks up to the right.

Parlamentarii din Congresul Statelor Unite se opun intensificării relaţiilor comerciale cu Brazilia
New Post has been published on https://reporterliber.ro/parlamentarii-din-congresul-statelor-unite-se-opun-intensificarii-relatiilor-comerciale-cu-brazilia/

Like I see that a period drama would never use words like 'non-binary' or 'trans' but I think Cole could describe the feeling of not feeling like a boy. Like, he could describe how he feels/describe what it's like to be nb but just not using the modern language. We would make the connection.
Also, I'd say that's true for most period shows, but this show is different. It's not afraid to be political or to reach out to the LGBTQ community. Also, Canada is a more liberal country than US so there would be a lot less push back.
Like, I don't want to get to much into it but there's the right-wing conservative Progresive Conservative party or PC for short. They are basically our version of the Republicans, but even they are a lot more central than Republicans. Like, gun control and healthcare aren't really issues the same way they are in the states, we already have both. Then there are the Liberals, the NDP, and the Green Party. All three together would be the Democrates. Liberal is by far the largest, they often campaign left but vote central. NDP is medium sized. They've never been elected Prime Minister but they always have a solid number of seats in the House of Commons. A few years ago, there was this guy Jack Layton who is known as "the best Prime Minister Canda never had" because he was an awesome politician who was gaining a lot of traction, especially in Quebec, and even made the NDP the official opposition but tragically passed away right after that. Green Party is super small and are similar to NDP with a concentration on environmental sustainability.
We are a very left-leaning country, and so are all the showrunners on Anne. It's not impossible to have a nb character.
Cole!
Ok, so I already mentioned it on Insta Story, but I think Cole might be trans, not gay. Like, he obviously isn’t interested in Anne romantically as I suspected. But the way he talked about being different, something about it struck me as a gender identity crisis rather than a sexual identity one. I think he might be non-binary, which I would love. We definitely need more nb representation, especially historic representation. The only reason I wouldn’t like this theory is that Cory, the actor, isn’t nb. He’s cis, and I don’t like it when cis actors play trans parts. Hire trans actors, thank you very much. But I suppose if Cory had been trans it would have been a huge spoiler.
That being said, I love the friendship between Anne and Cole. Thing is, they look so similar, I wonder if they are cousins or something. I would love for Anne to get some family, though Marilla, Matthew, and Jerry should be enough.

After we retake the presidency, should we illegalize the Republican Party and strip any supporter of all his/her rights?
COMMENTARY:
As an Eisenhower Republican, my advice to Democrats of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s generation to focus on her constructive and progresive Democratic Socialism of American constitutional capitalism rather than acting like the crypto-Nazis who are the agents of the Tory Socialism of Reaganomics that needs to be dismantled and assigned to the dust bin of history along with Marxist Socialism.
The agenda of the GOP Deep State is split between paybacks and theft. People like Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Roger Stone and Trump invest enormous emotional capital getting even for stuff that happened to them growing up as wimpy whiny white weaklings. If Trump spent as much energy implementing Obama’s progressive economic design as he does complaining about how Obama left him an economy that he, Trump, didn’t have to bail out of a complete collapse but was inhibited entirely by Mitch McConnell’s obstructionism, economic growth would currently be somewhere north of 6% without the inflation that creates the illusion of 4% growth. Trump is the king of Tory Socialism and Tory Socialism is the only thing that has stood in the way of putting a permanent UN Space Force Base on the moon and the transformation of the Military Industrial Complex to an Aerospace Entrepreneurial Matrix that would create a one time annual 13 - 15% economic growth as a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul comes on line.
Nevertheless, Trump’s anemic economic growth is possible entirely because of what he inherited from Obama and in spite of his actual neglect and incompetence as Chief Executive in favor of an administration organized almost entirely of crypto-Nazi paybacks and ugly politics,
