(kind of a continuation of this post but this is the most notes one of my pjo posts has gotten without garnering some kind of discourse and i dont really wanna touch it but i need to say this)
thinking about annabeth, the toddler daughter of a phd student whose dad already barely has time for her to the point that she is pretty much responsible for herself
annabeth, five years old, watching from the sidelines as her dad married someone she sees as a monster, moving onto things bigger and better than her, replacing her with people and kids who get more attention from him individually than she ever got in their five years alone
annabeth, seven, deciding it's time for her to move on because she's not getting any more love out of that relationship than she's already squeezed out
annabeth sometime around here learning that it's not that her mother doesn't care about her, she just has more important things to do
annabeth, barely any older, contending with thalia's death, a girl who was both a friend and a caretaker for a brief but incredibly formative time
annabeth, again, barely older, watching luke get a quest and leave her behind, hoping and praying he makes it back home to her, and then when he does, realizing he didn't come back quite right and that now even he's moving on from her, once again leaving her for bigger and better things that he keeps saying she's too young to undestand
annabeth, ten, learning about the prophecy and being told she's gonna be a part of it and starting to form an idea of how one day she's gonna find her More Important Thing if she just works hard enough, because isn't that what happens to everyone?
annabeth, 12, meeting percy and actually demanding to be a part of his quest because even though he'll probably be dead by 16, she'll be damned if she lets her chance at the More Important Thing slip away and be left behind again, so she fights like hell for her dreams and her place in the world
12, and knowing she wasn't enough to keep luke from leaving
annabeth, 13, and having to rescue grover from his More Important Thing and then watching him continue on his More Important Thing
13 still and being tempted by the hunters because if it hasn't happened, maybe the mortal world won't give her her More Important Thing
(then getting kidnapped and forced to hold the sky, no idea if anyone is coming for her, scared that everyone is too busy with their More Important Things, and finding out percy never once thought of not going after her, and beginning to realize he doesn't have his More Important Thing yet either)
14, still raw from thalia joining the hunters, and watching percy with rachel, seeing him blast himself to ogygia, and being terrified he's going to realize his More Important Thing is another girl or saving the world or something equally as more important than annabeth
15, and still scared, except now his birthday is coming up, and he might just die before she can ever get her feelings out, and then why bother?
16 and watching him reject immortality for her to help the demigods, and knowing deep in her bones that there is no More Important Thing because that's just not who he is
16, and knowing for the first time in her life that she can trust another person with her heart
16, and being somebody else's More Important Thing, and maybe letting percy be hers too
that is all

Hello Tumblr followers, it's October and a lot is happening! First and foremost, the Eldritch Saints leftovers are finally listed. New pins, prints, stickers, and keychains are available now in my Etsy shop. Many of these items have been sent to my stockists as well.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Kickstarter campaigns, if you missed the Angelology III campaign, the pre-order store is open until October 14 2023. Lots of pins, stickers, and keychains - including some awesome guest artist designs - are available for pre-order. If you miss the pre-order, you will have to wait until any leftovers are available after the campaign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back to new shop items: in addition to the Eldritch Saints pins, I have even more new pins available! Charity pins for the Maui Strong Fund and Assistance Dogs of the West are now available. My Film Noir Monsters are also available: there are a limited number of full sets, individual pins, and blind bags.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This month's seconds pins are Penemue, Percy de Rolo, Archangel Samiel, and Mistress of Darkness.
To make room for all the new pins, older ones have retired from my Etsy shop. You can still find them with my stockists. If you're curious about what pins I've made, I've updated my pin catalog. If you have restock requests, you can make those in this Google form. I generally don't reprint any pins once sold out, but if a design is popular enough I'll consider making a new variant. So if you have a variant idea, you can include that in your request.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, returning once again to new shop items: new stickers are also available! Rat Kings, Biblically Accurate Barbie, and a glitter version of Original Character Brainworms are now listed in my shop. New keychains are available too, including Be Not Afraid Jon, Biblically Accurate Barbie, Throne Angel, Little Guy Seraph, and Angelic Messengers keychains.
Tumblr media
On to more general news for October. This month I am working on drawing original angel designs for Angeltober 2023. You can follow along on social media. Some of these designs might turn into pins next year! So you can let me know if you like any in particular.
Since we're in the last stretch of 2023, I thought I'd do a recap of my upcoming plans.
First, let's look ahead to November, where I anticipate a lot will also be happening. November 24-25 2023 I'll be at the SJMade holiday fair, so I'll be working on items for that. The Cowboy Monsters, Trigun Cowboys, and a few other pins weren't quite ready in time for this update, so I'll be saving them for November. I also have some recolors of pins, including Wolf Knight and Deadwale, that might be ready by then. My plan for these November items is to a list a small quantity as usual at the beginning of the month, and save the rest for the fair. Any leftovers will be listed right after the fair, so you can expect two shop updates that month.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year, I will be working on crossing off some more pins from my self-funded to-do list: including original designs, and more fanart pins for Spiderverse, Better Call Saul, and Trigun.
I'm planning to close my Etsy shop December 8 2023, and reopen it sometime in 2024. That will be your last chance to grab any last minute gifts. My stockists will remain open so you can purchase from them while my Etsy shop is closed.
Next year I'm running my last two planned Kickstarter campaigns: Angelology IV: Angels of Extinction, which will feature designs inspired by endangered and extinct creatures; and Pride Angels, featuring angel pins in the colors of different Pride flags. This won't be my last Kickstarter campaigns ever, but probably my last for a while.
I will also have a much shorter list of pins I'm planning to self-fund in 2024: it includes some more fanart pins, the rest of the Zodiac and Astrological Putti, and a series inspired by the angelic hierarchy. I'm considering making a pin club on Ko-fi so I can share those plans and help fund those pins, without relying on Kickstarter. I would also post manufacturer reviews and merch previews. Let me know if that would be something you'd be interested in!
In 2024, outside of the Kickstarters I'm planning to scale down my pin making to focus on making other merch, I have a long backlog of stickers, keychains, and other items I've set aside this year to focus on pins. Pin making will always be my greatest passion so I don't think I'll ever stop completely, but it does take a lot of time, effort, and money and I think it's time to ease up on it so I can work on other things. I'm also looking to diversify my inventory of items, so if you have any suggestions you can send them my way. That's my early New Year's resolution anyway, we'll see if I follow through!
That's all for this update, which ended up being a long one. I'll leave you all with a link to my About Page/FAQ if you haven't already given it a read; and if you have any questions you'd like to ask anonymously, you can send them to my Tumblr ask box. Have a wonderful week.

Hello   and   welcome   all   to   ohlympns!   This   is   an   independent,   private,   and   selective   Percy   Jackson   and   the   Olympians   &   The   Heroes   of   Olympus   multi   muse.   I’ll   be   combining   sources   from   the   books   and   my   own   headcanons.   Please   see   any   information   about   this   blog   down   below.   Rules   will   be   under   the   cut.   If   you   have   any   questions   or   concerns,   please   feel   free   to   message   me!   I   promise   I   am   very   friendly!

Tumblr media
Rules to follow! I'll keep it simple: Mun: My name's AJ! I love characters, love talking about them all the time. I love to read and write. I mostly read horror, and recently found it's actually a favorite genre of mine. I'm a nerd, a dork, hella shy, and would love to be your friend!
Please be kind and respectful! If there are any issues with me, please come to me in an appropriate manner. I don't bite, I promise. We all know we can't read each other's minds!
The Gods and Goddesses. As someone who is a devotee to one of the Greek Gods, I may have a different approach with how the children interact with their parents. I'll try to balance canon and how I view it.
Muses. As it goes, my primary muses are ones I probably will have most muse for, and will be my go to muses for starter calls or unspecified memes (but pretty please specify muse). Primary & Secondary muses can shift position or be removed depending on interaction. I may add muses as I see fit in the future. I will make any posts indicating any updates.
NS.FW. Will not be present on this blog. Even though my main verses are post the book events when all of them are a little older.
Shipping. I love to ship. I'm opened to it as long as we both are good with it, and talk about our muses to see if they click. Annabeth, Nico, Clarisse, Frank: They will be hinted to be in a relationship with their significant others, however that doesn't mean I will automatically ship with their significant others unless a partner wants to or if I'm shipping with another character. Piper: Same thing applies somewhat but with Jason. However, the time during TMOA my Piper won't be in a relationship with Jason unless my partner wants them to be. Leo: I don't ship Leo and Calypso, so he won't be in a relationship with her.
Controversial characters. Totally down to write with any type of character. I won't limit myself. If this bothers you, please do not follow.
Triggers. I'll tag what I can/remember. I will NOT write with drunk muses. This doesn't need to be tagged for your threads, I just don't want to deal with it one-on-one.
Formatting. If there is anything about my formatting for writing that bothers you, please feel free to message me. I'll be happy to change it for our threads.
OCs/Fandoms. Totally chill with OCs, just have some type of an about page. I can try and fit my muses into anything, and will follow blogs I can see working (even if I don't know the fandom).
Be patient! I have a full time job and a few other blogs I hop on. I usually go with the flow, see what muse I have. Plus please be aware that I struggle with depression. Some Days are good and others not so much.
OOC. I love to chat ooc. Through IMs or discord. Whatever works for you. Although, discord is only open to mutuals.
Icons. I don't use icons as of right now since I'm slow at getting FCs. However, if I ever find FCs I like to make icons- just know we don't HAVE to use them. That being said, if you use icons feel free to use them as you wish.
Movies & Show. I'm opened to discussing a way to flow them together since I base most of my blog around the books. Don't feel as though you can't approach me!
MUTUALS ONLY!!!!

Then without further ado 🤑
Prompt: adult and married Percy and Nico meeting their younger counterparts (let s say the ones from after the whole not my type incident) go craaaazy, sorry if it s not an easy one . I just hope you ll take a comedic approach to it but that s your choice.
"YOU!" The teen pointed at him once he saw him. "WHAT DID YOU DO?"
Percy sighed and passed by his seventeen year old self and straight towards fifteen year old Nico. The little son of Hades shrugged, as if to say, 'what do you expect of me?' and walked towards the car.
"Sorry about this, Wise Girl," he apologized. "I swear I was watching them, but I guess I forgot how slippery I can be."
"You forgot a lot of things, Percy, if you're even Percy anymore!" his younger self kept accusing. "Why did you guys break up?!"
"Just... give me a heads up next time something like this happens," Annabeth said. "Just a few minutes with him and I remember why we broke up,"
Young Percy looked at her, betrayal in his eyes.
Percy took advantage of his shock and dragged him to the car, speeding off before he could try and jump out.
When the boys had appeared in front of him and Nico at home, his husband almost suffered an aneurysm. When Young Percy had asked where Annabeth was, as she would know how to take them back, Percy had been stupid enough to let it slip that they had broken up.
Cue his younger self running away to find her and find out what happened, with Young Nico following behind, to make sure he was safe.
"What did you do?" Young Percy asked, calmer this time. "Tell me so I never make the same stupid mistake!"
"It wasn't a mistake," Percy said, getting angry despite himself. "You just don't know how things will go until they happen."
"Maybe that's why I'm here, then," Young Percy explained, desperate. "To make sure this Bad Future doesn't happen."
"Then why am I here?" Nico spoke up. Percy immediately whipped his head back. He was still panicking, but now all his attention was centered on Nico. "The only thing I know about my future is that I am in your house."
And gods, was his seventeen year old self an idiot. How did he not notice himself forgetting the world just by listening to Young Nico's words? How did he justify his eyes following the movements of his hands like it was hypnotic?
Denial was one hell of a drug.
"Why wouldn't you be here? Or at my house? We're friends," Percy answered like it was the most natural thing in the world. "And right now, it's us against the future."
Nico said nothing, but he gave him a small smile. Young Percy relaxed.
"So, how did it happen?" he asked again once they were by the house.
"I fell in love with someone else," Percy said honestly. Young Percy's eyes widened. He obviously thought it impossible. "I was... about your age, really, but didn't notice it until much later, when that person was already taken."
"Well, I don't like anybody but Annabeth, so that means this future won't come to pass."
"Oh, it will, you just don't know it yet," Nico, older Nico, said as he leaned against the car. Young Percy jumped on his seat. "Welcome back, Percy. Was little me good?"
"I'm not ten," Young Nico complained. He looked at his older self. "Do you know why we're here?"
His husband shook his head.
"Afraid not, but good news is, I don't remember being thrown into the future and meeting my older self, so you guys probably won't remember this once you get back."
"Nico! Help me!" Young Percy said. "If I won't remember, then it means I must fix this here! You have to help me get back together with Annabeth!"
No one spoke for a few seconds, and Percy saw Young Nico wince. Whether he was sad over his younger self being such a hard head, or cringing at him was a mystery Percy couldn't crack.
Nico shook his head, smiling tenderly and leaning forward slightly on the window and... well, his husband was 24 and dressed in an oversized shirt that let a lot of his collar bone and chest show. Young Percy was too mesmerized to keep talking.
But Young Nico noticed and his eyes shifted rapidly between his older self and both Percys.
The son of Poseidon gave a subtle nod, winking at him. Young Nico's face turned a deep crimson. Gods, he missed when Nico used to do that.
"When you grow up, you'll understand why it ended," Nico said gently. Young Percy, cheeks a little red, nodded dumbly. Percy was sure that, at that point, his husband could make his younger self to jump to his doom faster than any siren. "Now come on, I made some ravioli I'm sure you guys will love. I remembered mamma's recipes," he added for his younger self's sake, who wouldn't stop sneaking glances at both Percys.
"Wait, so this is your house? Where do I live, then?"
Nico looked at Young Percy for a second and gave him what Percy knew as his 'I'm seducing you' smile. Young Nico looked escandalized.
"Where do you think, Percy?" he said in a low whisper. His younger self's eyes widened in horror.
"I... I don't like... do I? B-but you said, I mean, he said I... that I wasn't his—" he looked between the Nicos, probably seeing his version for the first time as well. "I'm not hungry!"
"Percy, wait!"
Their younger versions ran into the house. Percy would probably hide in their room and see all the evidence of their relationship, while Nico would try to calm Percy down, who, now with the idea in his mind, wouldn't be able to stop thinking about his Nico that way.
"That was evil," Percy said, chuckling. Nico smirked back.
"Maybe," Nico admitted. "But he was the one who suggested breaking our marriage, so he deserves it."

Chapter 4: Ah, Trophies
On the following afternoon, the first years finally had the chance they were waiting for. Their first true flying lesson with brooms. Although it wasn't said that they didn't learn about the use of flying and other student that had experience before had weren't excited, but as interesting as the class was; Harry managed to get into trouble within the first thirty minutes of class and is now expecting to be expelled as he walks behind Professor McGonagall with his head down in shame.
Professor McGonagall stopped at the door to Professor Quirrell's classroom, knocked and opened the door.
"Professor Quirrell, can I borrow Wood for a moment." Professor McGonagall said to which only had lead to Professor Quirrell fainting after a quick 'eep'.
"Yes Professor? Is everything alright," a fifth-year Gryffindor said as he came into the hallway.
"Harry Potter this is Oliver Wood. Wood, I found you a seeker."
"We'll finally be able to beat the Slytherin's winning streak," Oliver said looking at Harry in awe.
"I'll finally get Black's grin off of him every time his Slytherins win." Professor McGonagall said looking excited in thought.
"As long as we keep Harry away from Professor Black practices then we'll have a secret ace up are sleeves," Oliver said as he started already thinking of a plan to win.
"So I'm not going to be expelled Professor?" Harry asked looking at Professor McGonagall with pleading eyes.
"Not today Mister Potter." Professor McGonagall said with smile, "Your father would be proud."
——
Word got around quick.
Ron in the other hand was just trying to wrap his head around the idea that it actually happened, "But that's impossible; first years never make the team! You must be the youngest quidditch player-"
"In the century, according to Professor McGonagall," Harry said as he took in the notice of even more curious stare in his direction then normal.
"Hey Harry, Wood just told us." Fred said as George and him came up to Harry and Ron.
"Ruff game Quidditch."
"Brutal."
"But no ones died in years."
"Although they do vanish occasionally."
"But they turn up in a month or two." The twins said as they headed off to class getting ready to cause mischief as they pulled out a piece of old parchment but were already far away from Harry's eyes.
"I don't know Ron, what if I mess up, what if I'm no good?" Harry said not
"You wont miss up, it's in your blood." Hermione said coming up to them and taking them to the direction of the trophy room.
——
"Bloody hell, hey check this out Harry, your father won the Quidditch cup as captain twice for Gryffindor!" Ron said as he looked at the Quidditch cup with amazement as Harry came to see.
1975 Gryffindor:James Potter:Chaser
1976 Gryffindor:James Potter:Chaser
Harry couldn't help but smile; this was probably as close as Harry ever got to his father and probably ever will; he took notice of another name as well, that appeared three times just under his fathers.
1977 Slytherin:Regulus Black:Seeker
1978 Slytherin:Regulus Black:Seeker
1979 Slytherin:Regulus Black:Seeker
"Professor Black was a Slytherin? But his actually nice!" Ron exclaimed as he took notice of the name.
"Don't be ridiculous; just because a person is in Slytherin does not mean your destined for evil; I'm sure they put wizards in houses based on attitude and abilities," Hermione said taking look at old pictures.
"Oh really, well then Ms. Know-It-All, why does it happen that all dark wizards are from Slytherin. I can't even name a single evil wizard from another house."
"Well if it isn't Potter; it's surprising you weren't expelled but to think, they would even put you in the Quidditch team. Wait till my father here's about this," Malfoy said will a sneer as his goons came just behind.
"I prove my point."
"What do you want Malfoy," Harry said
"Oh nothing, just looking at the great Harry Potter that seems to be able to get away with anything. Bet you can't even do anything on your own."
"Like there isn't anything Harry couldn't beat you in." Ron said which seemed to be the answer Draco was looking for.
"Then it settled, we hold a duel here, tonight at two, who ever doesn't show up will immediately lose," Draco said looking smug.
"Your on."
—-
"Your going to get us in trouble," Hermione said as she followed Harry and Ron as Neville trailed along, not wanting to be left alone.
"Well it your so worried, just go back to the dorms instead of following us," Ron said which only proceeded to make Hermione redden with anger.
"We really should go back, we'll lose house points," Neville said as he quivered by each little sound.
"Or worse." Hermione stated as they got to the trophy room.
"Ha, that wimp isn't even here yet. Probably to scared to show." Ron said with a triumphant look on his face while Hermione took the time to look at the metals that caught her attention.
"Harry? Your mother's maiden name was Evans rights?," Hermione said as she looked at the Medal of Magical Merit with the name Lily Evans.
"I'm not sure, I was never really told much about my parents but I suppose. Never really knew my mother maiden name through," Harry said as he came over and saw a picture close to the medal of a pretty women with red hair.
"Please don't be sad Harry, I'm sure they're happy to know your safe. They would be happy to know you're a good person," Neville said as he noticed Harry sadden expression. "Oh look, Professor Black won a medal too!"
"Oh bloody hell! That's it's," Ron said as he started to look though the trophies.
"Ron, what are you doing?," Neville said looking at Ron who seem to be rummaging through old trophies.
"Prefect for two years, first place in the schools national dueling championship in 74, 75 & 79, Potions Championship in 74; okay, I'm impressed," Ron said looking at his Professors achievement, though it's strange; someone of his abilities shouldn't just be a teacher, although he was technically forced.
They heard a sudden movement and a soon meow that came with it.
"Oh no, it's Filch's cat!," Hermione said as she quickly hid to which the boys soon followed suite.
They hid behind the older trophies and looked at the head boy list of records to see two familiar name once more.
1978 Gryffindor:James Potter
1979 Slytherin:Regulus Black
"Bloody Hell, is there anything he can't do?!? He's even worse then Percy!" Ron cried out which had Harry and Hermione cover his mouth with a shush.
"Come on, this way," Harry said as they hid behind the suits of armor, careful not to make a sound.
To with Peeves the poltergeist, took notice of them and started to make a ruckus near there hiding place catching the attention of others patrolling the school.
"Run!" Neville said as he went off in a sprint to a corridor as the others followed till they make there way to a door.
"It won't open, it's locked." Ron said trying to open the door.
"Oh move over," Hermione said pushing Ron out of the way.
"Alohomora," Hermione said pointing her wand to the door as it unlocked letting the kid get inside.
"Alohomora?" Ron questioned to Hermione once they closed the door.
"Standard Book of Spells, chapter seven." She replied bluntly, but by now the children took notice at the room at hand, or more like, the paw in the room that was accompanied by a very large black dog who now took notice of them and pretty sound; they scream.
They quickly got out of the room, holding back the door to stop the creature from getting through shutting it back tight as the dog continued to beat on it.
"Mister Potter, Mister Weasley. Mister Longbottom and Miss Granger too! Why are you four out this late!"
Extra
•I imagine Professor Quirrell pretending to be even more fearful because not only does he have Severus to worry about but Regulus too.
•Regulus offers in helping the Quidditch player in all the houses which only makes that games more intense, of course Wood doesn't want to let any of the Gryffindor team go because the 'enemies' will see.
• Whatever house wins the Quidditch cup Regulus wears the team color the next day; the other teachers go along with it to and McGonagall in upset because she hasn't had the chance to wear read in years.

Chapter 1: The Potion Masters
"Hey Percy, who's that Professor?" Harry said looking at a young and handsome man who was sitting at the far right of him at the teachers table, black hair loosely placed in a ribbon tie which barley reached his shoulders and wore black elegant clothing with silver trimmings. His grey eyes looking at the Headmaster with amused boredom as he moved his wand with silent spells, changing Dumbledore's hat to an even more absurd one then the last.
Although by the other Professors amused reaction and the Headmaster not paying to much attention to his changing appearance, as well with the older students paying no mind other then glimpses every so often, this appeared to be normal.
"Oh, that's Professor Black. He teaches Potions with Professor Snape and is the substitute professor when a professor can't make their class." Percy said not even looking up from his quite enjoyable food.
"But I'd be careful around him, not that his dangerous, just that his a real wild card." Fred or George said with a laugh; Harry still was not sure which was which.
"That's right, when Snape became a teacher, Black was brought in by Dumbledore to work here as well. It's common knowledge that he was dragged by his collar, you can even ask the paintings," George or Fred said, although Harry was not sure how asking a painting would help.
"But don't get us wrong, his actually a really good teacher- great with children-helps us out a lot." The twins said in unison.
Harry was not sure what to think of this Professor. At first glance in appearance, he looked to be of high class elegance, but with his antics, there was just no telling.
"Is he from the Black family?" Ron asked taking more notice of the Professor and, by the looks of it, other first year students in multiple houses were starting to realize to.
"Yup, the last one out here." Fred or George said.
"Although don't mention his brother to him," George or Fred said.
"It's a touchy subject," they said in unison again which apparently was quiet normal for them.
"What does his family have to do with anything?" Hermione said giving Ron a puzzled look.
"The Black family is full of nutters; whole family full of dark wizards, he's probably the last one out and about, all the other living ones are in Azkaban. Caught red handed working directly for the dark lord himself. They didn't even deny it." Ron said stuffing his face in chicken.
Harry looked back at Professor Black who now took notice of Harry's constant stare and gave a small amused smile which made Harry look away quickly.
"I'm sure that he isn't like his family, the other Professors don't seem to think badly of him at all," Hermione stayed with a small blush to her cheeks as many other girls had as well.
"He's is quite a knowledgeable man and is unbiased too; you'll be having him for your first year, all the way to fourth year, then afterwards you'll be having Professor Snape for the rest of your time at Hogwarts and alchemy, if you qualify and if there are enough students," Percy said making notice of a man that was sitting two sits away from Professor Black which reminded Harry of looking like an over grown bat that was talking to Professor Quirrell.
"And Professor Snape; is he a good teacher too?," Harry said looking briefly at Snape then back at Percy.
"Well, he knows his potions, but his room is quite dark and he much prefers the Slytherins and hates Gryffindor with a passion. But as long as you listen well to Blacks lessons, you'll be fine.”
It wasn't long after that they went to there dormitories which left Harry in thought.
"How are my classes going to be?"
Extra
•This is basically a story of if Regulus Black survived but went into hiding with only Kreacher knowing where
•Dumbledore went off in a hunt in France to find him after finding out he was alive (don't ask me how he found out)
•Dumbledore asked him (forced him) to become a teacher at Hogwarts after having got Snape about a couple months earlier (Dumbledore blackmailed Regulus to comply after saying it would be quite troublesome if his brother found him)
•Dumbledore also know Regulus is a good boy and that he knows something about the Dark Lord and figured that if he at least won't say anything to him, at least he can kept an eye on him
•And after all these years of teaching, he's become good company to the school

As a John/Percy fan, I'd say be grateful you haven't read Bees yet. I was looking forward to it finally coming out for so long, and now I just wish I could bleach the traumatic details from my head entirely. 😑💀
As for the book as a whole, I feel like - despite it being a whopping 900 pages long - not much of consequence actually happened in it (to me anyway). *shrug* All the same loose plot threads from previous books are still hanging about, unresolved. It seems like its main purpose was just setting the stage for the last book of the series - which, if the length of time it took DG to finish Bees is any indication, we probably won't be getting for like another decade. Rather annoying.
(And given the rotten state of my health, I don't even know if I'll be alive to read it anyway. *sigh* But, in truth, if poor Percy is really dead I won't want to read it at all. 😭)
Indeed, what even is the point of the Fergus mystery she's now dragged out for three whole long-ass books??? If it's not actually true then she'd have just wasted our time for nothing - so that's why I feel, as a writer, that it would be illogical for her to have spent so long drawing this storyline out if there wasn't truth to it. (In which case everyone owes Percy a huge apology!! 😤)
Agreed, if DG wasn't going to actually DO something meaningful with the Beauchamp plot then she shouldn't have even introduced them in the first place. And yes, you're quite right, Fergus would have to take St. Germain’s last name, not Beauchamp (theoretically, if he intended to claim the Comte's estate as his legitimate heir - though I have trouble seeing him being willing to renounce the name Fraser given the sentiment attached to it) - which means, of course, that Fergus would still be Claire's ancestor, just perhaps not by direct line of descent. (He could, instead, be a distant cousin, rather than a many-greats-removed great-grandfather.)
Yes, Percy has said he and Cecile have no children - and didn't mention her having had any children from a previous marriage either. (Nothing changed on that front in Bees.)
(It's quite possible she could've been married at least once before she wed Percy as well, because she had to have been between 42 and 48 years of age in 1776 - a supposition based on the presence of the portrait of Claude, Cecile, and Amelie as children John mentioned seeing at Trois Fléches (Echo, Ch 45). Since the three of them were painted together before Amelie disappeared and later died, then Cecile can't be any younger than 42 years old (because Fergus was born in 1735); but she's also younger than Claude who was about 49/50 in 1776 (having been said to be a few years older than John who was himself 47 when he met Claude).
So she couldn't have been any younger than than her mid to late twenties when she married Percy and, of course, this is the 18th century we're talking about, so her father most likely would've married her off to some French nobleman back when she was in her teens. I headcanon that Cecile's first husband was served as an officer in the French army during the Seven Years War (1756–1763) and died sometime during those years, leaving her widowed by the time she met Percy (and she chose to reassume her maiden name after her first husband's death). I also imagine she might be unable to have children if at least two marriages didn't produce them - and we know that she and Percy didn't have a wholly sexless marriage (even if her brother was sometimes present during their interludes *cough cough* lol). As for Percy, he'd have been married to her and a part of France's Black Chamber/Secret du Roi no later than 1764.)
As to Claude, we don't actually know for certain either way whether he has any children. We weren't told he has children, but we also weren't explicitly told that he doesn't have them either. I headcanon that he does (because a titled nobleman's first duty is basically to produce a male heir to inherit his title after all) and his wife died in childbirth or something at some point, and he never felt the need to remarry (hence why he has no wife in 1776) because he already has an heir. And given his age, his children would most likely already be young adults/adolescents - hence either married or away at university - thus explaining why none of them were present when John visited Trois Fléches. So it's quite possible that Claude at least has a son.
But regardless of whether he does or not, what we do know for certain is that some male relative does indeed carry on the family line in England after the French Revolution. Even if Claude didn't have children himself, that doesn't mean he doesn't have extended family. Maybe his father had younger brothers who had sons, and it's actually Claude and Cecile's cousins who carry on the Beauchamp name - who knows? (There's enough canonical ambiguity to leave things open to multiple possibilities.)
Though the writer in me doesn't think it's a good idea for some unknown, never mentioned, Beauchamp cousin to actually turn out to be Claire's direct ancestor. It should be a character we already know, or at least someone closely connected to them, such as a child of Claude's we just haven't heard about yet.
Of course, ideally, I'd have had Percy and Cecile be the ones Claire's descended from. (I'd initially guessed - before Bees - that maybe DG had chosen not to give Percy any children because she meant for he and John to get back together eventually. And him not having any kids would've made it easier for him to start a life somewhere else with John without him having to choose to abandon his children.) And Percy and Claire even have a superficial resemblance on paper (curly brown hair, "sherry" brown eyes, pale skin, delicate features, slender build), so it wouldn't have felt like that much of a cognitive leap for me. And it would've given Percy a connection to the main characters, which would've played out interestingly with John.
But then we got Bees instead. 😑
And I have no idea what the hell DG even thinks she's doing anymore, since Bees basically threw away everything she'd spent Books 7&8 building towards with John and Percy. 😒💀💔
Still rereading Voyager, and this description of Claire’s eyes has me thinking again what a missed opportunity it was for Percy not to have turned out to be her ancestor. *sigh*

So I like auror, but while I'll do WWW for the sake of (secondary) canon, I don't think George would want another brother to be his partner--and if I did want to write one of the brothers going into business with him, it would be Percy, because I'm just much more interested in that dynamic.
In my main timeline, Ron was an auror, then semi-retired to be with the kids after Rose was born. Since then, he's had some projects; now that the kids are out of the house, he's taking on more and more involved projects, and probably getting dragged in to train recruits.
In the canon timeline, I feel like (thematically) the Golden Trio don't get to get out of the war. They're deeply involved with the reconstruction and are probably going to spend the rest of their lives guiding wizard society, because frankly between them they're capable of succeeding where Dumbledore failed and actively working for a world in which there won't be another Dark Lord in another 20 years.
And Ron is a knight. He moves around, and crops up where you didn't expect him. (Chess note: the knight is the only chess piece that can move through blocked squares.)
A lot of the projects are writing, though. George has an entire shelf full of short, friendly, informative books Ron has written.
Now, for careers in AUs:
I love healer!Ron. (And not only because, "Merlin's balls, Harry, if you want to see me that badly you can just drop in, you don't actually need to get yourself killed.") He seemed drawn to the idea in the career pamphlets, if he'd been taking the right OWLs.
I've also got a not-actually-muggle AU in which Ron is a med student, so there's that.
I've also got an actually-muggle AU where Ron is a kindergarten teacher. He didn't much like schoolwork--I don't think he'd want to teach older kids--but I can absolutely see him teaching the little ones. Kindergarten and high school are fundamentally different animals.
I've read some baker!Ron AUs, and I do love that idea. (Ron is a baker, Hermione is a lawyer is my favorite for some reason.) I don't think canon!Ron would make a career of it, though--he's just the member of the family who always turns up with delicious baked goods. Mostly because with Hermione's income he doesn't need to make a business of it... and while I love fic in which Ron is the business brain at the Wheezes (while George is the product guy), I don't think Ron would actually enjoy the "actually making it profitable" side of running a business.
Although I don't think it actually suits any of them except Neville, I quite enjoy "everyone becomes a Hogwarts professor" AUs. (Hermione: Ancient Runes; Harry: DADA; Ron: Muggle Studies; Luna: Care of Magical Creatures; Ginny: History of Magic; Neville: Herbology, per canon.)
The only other career I've written for him is in the college AU, in which he's a math major. I honestly think Ron, lateral thinker and player of games, would quite enjoy being a mathematician... though that isn't exactly a career per se (ask me how I know), and I don't think Ron would enjoy being a professor. That Ron's probably going to end up opening a bakery after he graduates, honestly.
ik in cannon ron becomes an arrorur but do u like agree w/ that? ik alot of ppl prefer the idea that harry becomes a teacher instead, do you have similar ideas for ron? or do u think like he'd kinda do w/e harry does or find his own career?
I think Ron would have been a good auror. In canon he retires to help George at the WWW, and I think that’s a perfect job for him. He felt bad for George and wanted to help him every way he could, so he went to co-owning it
Other than those jobs? I’ve seen professor Ron headcanons, but personally I don’t see him as a teacher. He kinda hated school, so I don’t think he would have enjoyed teaching that much. Ron was fairly good at quidditch, so he could have become a professional player. I imagine he made the cannons win games and get popular
That’s about it, I guess. Are there any muggle jobs he would be good at? Chess, obviously. You can make money any way in the real world

I understand what you are saying. But imo there is seriously no justification for the abuse he has put his own son through.
Literally none.
If he wanted his son to change:
-Why is he the only one who's being punished, if the other gods are even worse than him?
-Why did he get angry at Percy for trying to change things between gods and demigods? That would have helped.
Apollo may still love his father but he shouldn't by any means. Your abuser can have a redemption arc and it doesn't mean you should forgive them, especially if they show no remorse.
During the Trials Apollo often think of his father laughing at his pain and humiliation. Why would he imagine something like this, if he doesn't believe his father is cruel?
You don't do the things Zeus did to his son if you love your son, that's how I see it.
Apollo was almost completely destroyed. We're taking the whole corporal punishment thing too far.
In this moment there is no reason in the world why I would give him the benefit of the doubt and even if there was a sudden reason why the punishment makes sense, I would still be very uncomfortable thinking of Zeus as a good guy.
And if he seriously hurt, humiliated, abused, terrified and almost destroyed Apollo just for him to "TRAIN" then I hope to God Apollo uses this "training" to annihilate him.
I know he won't and the whole thing will probably end with a sort of "you know what dad? you were right to abuse me, thanks :)" but ew. EEEW.
I love forgiveness, but not like that. For starters, the other part should be sorry for what they did, and I'm putting the bar on the floor.
So no, I don't think Apollo is to blame for his own abuse, because Zeus was the older one, Zeus is the one who has power over the other, and Zeus is the one who blatantly favors other kids over Apollo. The power imbalance was completely in Zeus' favor and he chose to act like this.
I'm all for "the gods aren't completely good or bad" but in Zeus' case, after all I've read in those three books... nah. And I'm a big Hera-fan.
Maybe we'll find out new things that'll make our perspective shift (I doubt it) but right now... no. It makes me uncomfortable to think of Zeus as anything but an abuser. Maybe it's because I'm young and if I thought about my father possibly doing those things to me I'd almost start to cry because it's too much.
I see your points because I usually really like the gods, but if Zeus died in the next book for some reason I'd probably be happy.
((I have been meaning to do a thing on Apollo and Zeus’ relationship for a while, but it is an extraordinarily complex relationship so I’ve been putting it off.
Up top, I want to say that there is, in fact, mutual love between Zeus and Apollo. Despite everything that Zeus has done, Apollo still loves and respects his father, and wants to have a good relationship with him. Unfortunately, for most of their lives, the relationship has been terrible and strained, and both parties are to blame for that. In addition, they have an extra handicap of being who and what they are, and being a product of the culture they were created in.
Throughout history, parents did things with and to their kids that we would find incredibly harming and abusive today. Corporal punishment was the norm, and children were treated as small adults. Kids were expected to help run the family farm as soon as they were able to, or apprentice to learn a trade. In Sparta, boys were taken from their mothers as young as seven and put into an intensive education and military training, and if they were not able to keep up, they died. But for all that, parents back then didnt love their children any less than they do now. Zeus may have been a bad dad, especially by today’s standards, but in the time that Apollo grew up, that would have been standard parenting.
Because he’s Zeus’ bastard son, albeit an acknowledged one, it puts Zeus in an uncomfortable spot. Hera already hates that Apollo exists, and that he’s too strong for her to do anything about. Its hard to understate how difficult it must have been for both of them, either because you want to spend time with your child knowing that it would upset your wife, or wanting your father to be around more and knowing that he cant because of the scandal.
In addition, you have to understand how Zeus became king of Olympus. He got his throne by killing his own father, who only got the throne because he’d killed his father. That sort of succession leads to quite a bit of paranoia, and looking over your shoulder to see if any of your strong uppity sons are coming at you with a knife.
Apollo happens to be one of Zeus’ most powerful (if not the most powerful) children, and it doesnt help that he’s also the one that has openly defied Zeus the most times. One of those times was an act of open rebellion, the type that would set off all of Zeus’ paranoia about getting murdered for his throne (in my personal headcanon, Apollo has no interest in becoming king of Olympus, but that’s besides the point).
Its not a healthy relationship by any stretch of the imagination. Its not good, but its also not entirely because Zeus is an angry bastard man that hates his kids. In reality, Zeus loves his family to pieces, he just is under the constraints of his offic and the culture he represents, and therefore is really bad at showing that love.
That brings us to TOA and his current punishment. At first glance, it seems like a typical Zeus Overreaction, but I think thats actually wildly out of character. Zeus is the god of Justice, it is in his nature to try and find the fairest way forward. Forcing Apollo to be mortal for something he honestly has no control over (prophecy) doesnt make sense.
I think perhaps this “punishment” is a mere pretext for training. We know that RR is building up for some sort of massive crossover, and we know that its going to require an all hands on deck scenario. Putting Apollo down on Earth where he can forge relationships with demigods, where he can be in a position to potentially lead when it comes to this crossover is going to be huge. Plus, Apollo is having to rely on himself, his own wits, and his friends instead of his powers. Having a god who doesnt need to use his own divine strength as a crutch is going to be formidable indeed.
All in all, I’m tired of seeing the posts saying that Zeus is an awful father, because in the end, he is a bad dad, but not the monster that everyone would like to make him out to be.
