Never Have I Ever ...
Over analysed a TV trailer and its subsequent stills (Devi x Paxton heavy)
Previous theories here and here
For @seeyoumondaydevi @kcollgewoman23
3x01 - NHIE ... been slut shamed
Spoiler alert if you havent read the s3 e1 table read >>> Most of the trailer comes from episode one.
We have the Daxton entrance; the mean girls slut shaming Devi in the bathroom; the girls in Devi's room talking about (who's not) having sex; Devis boyfriend party session with Dr Ryan; Daxton make out sessions at Devi's and a failed one post date at Paxton's garage.
3x02 - NHIE ... had my own troll
The popularity that Devi had longed for isn't all it's cracked up to be, as the hate and jealousy of others start to trigger her buried insecurities and traumas.
The Gossip Girl blasts from Lady Whistleboy are coming it hot.
Will we finally find out what the anonymous text means? My bet is still it being Paxton's biggest fan, Trent Harrison.
I think the "we don't make sense" conversation happens early in the season as Daxton navigate the roller-coaster that is their first serious relationship. They reconcile and survive their first bf/gf fight ... but it starts going down down in an earlier round (will they go down swinging?)
3x03 NHIE ... had a Valentine
Hoping for some love all round in the form of Treleanor and Kamanish (is that what were calling Kamala and Mr K now? Idk you tell me).
Anyway, Paxton makes her dinner and it's too cute. The little things. Like ya know he got those roses from the garden and put it in a beer cup cause he couldn't find a vase.
However, it doesnt end well as per Devi’s expression pictured right. Nalini busts them (finally, cause how long can Devi get away with him in her room). As memory serves, she does not approve of Paxton.
Nalini starts running interference with a goal to set Devi up with whom Nalini hopes to be her future SIL - Super hot, Stanford bound, Des.
Devi is in big trouble which is why she has conditions to attend next episode's party.
3x04 - NHIE ... made someone jealous
So now it's confirmed this is when we are first introduced to Des, and 100% not an uggo.
Raise your hand if you felt personally victimised when it's revealed who she was really looking at with wide eyes.
In the same episode theme, this could also be a possibility of Aneesa's jealousy rising. Please don't do my girl dirty, she deserves the world too.
3x05 NHIE ... been ghosted
The fallout of ep 4 ... oh dear, looks like we may have a character arc backslide by P.H.Y in this one. Let's hope not. My soft boy deserves growth. Protect at all costs.
Maybe this is when we'll have more Treleanor to balance the drama. If the play is Romeo and Juliet ... so help me God. I love it but also a bit on the nose?
3x06 NHIE ... had a breakdown
"What do you have to lose? Certainly not your dignity."
Her mind.
She's is absolutely going to lose her mind and shit.
3x07 NHIE ... cheated
I thought I read that he appears in ep 8 but for now I'm going to assume it's 7. Deacon Phillippe will appear as Parker, Devi’s debate team rival from a well-funded private school, he’s able to coast through debate tournaments thanks to his school’s advantages and is always down to party.
I assume Addison makes their appearance in the same episode ❤️ played by Terry Hu, a non-binary person from the local private school, bringing more than impressive trivia skills to the group.
Please Mindy and Lang >> No physical or emotional cheating. Idc if it's academics, debate, or even board games!
Lets not do the old once a cheater always a cheater.
3x08 - NHIE ... hooked up with my boyfriend
In the words of Poorna herself:
🍆 + 🌶 = s3
Same nerds. New Drama.
Like I said, we get it. The D's V card gets swiped.
And in my favourite twist, it's revealed Paxton is also a virgin.
3x09 untitled / 3x10 untitled
So as I've written this, I've realised Daxton will experience some relationship obstacle or challenge each episode.
Pressures of sex, feelings of incompatibility, family members that don't approve of you, jealousy and insecurities of other people that you think your partner likes more, lack of communication, shutting down / shutting out, having a partner that is not in a healthy state of mind, general cheating, actual intimacy.
The last two eps will address the outcome and also whether we see Paxton graduate this year.
And from here it will go one of two ways:
1) Endgame.
2) First love, but not last love.
#excuse my rollercoaster analysis#nhie#observations and theories#never have i ever season 3#never have i ever netflix#devi vishwakumar#paxton hall yoshida#eleaner wong#trent harrison#nalini vishwakumar#aneesa qureshi#fabiola torres

I really like the Mateo quote where he tells Marjan "you don't need a hand written invitation to go help someone". That Mateo Marjan scene is one of my favorites even though I hate seeing my favorite siblings fight.
OH man Nonny, I love 3x10 for the high quality Marjan and Mateo content.
While I hate to see them fight, my favorte thing about that blow up is that both Mateo and Marjan are missing a key detail of what the other one was going through, and therefore were COMPLETELY missing each other. They were basically walking into each other's landmines because they had NO idea what the other one was going through, not really. And I think it was valid for both Mateo and Marjan to keep what they were going through close to the vest here.
Yes, Mateo and Marjan are family. As Mateo puts it early in 3x10, she's his scary big sister. But the things they're dealing with are private to Paul and Cpt. Tatum and their loyalty to other members of their family is part of what makes Mateo and Marjan fabulous. It's not until later in the episode that they both have their eyes open. But yes, Mateo has some fabulous lines, including you don't need a hand written invitation to help someone. But like, he doesn't know he's hitting Marjan who did help Paul without an invitation and is being punished for it...and like...UGH. Meanwhile, Marjan is yelling at Mateo that he's an abandoner, when literally he's trying to save Cpt. Tatum's job/life and keep the 129 from diasaster. He's doing the exact opposite of abandoning anyone...and I just...MY BABIES.
Brilliant scene. Brilliant season.
Season 3 was really the best season. More Mateo and Marjan chaotic siblings forever, please.

OKAY, so this is the "Who is Dean" anon - I'm sorry for that open question, very down to specify - I'm gonna be greedy and ask a few, and if it takes too much of your time feel free to ignore some! Okay so I'd say firstly it's still a big one that ties into a lot, but how self-aware do you think Dean is and why ? A logical follow up, what do you think the show tells us about Dean's emotional intelligence (and maybe how it evolves)? LAST ONE, your thoughts on Dean and gender performativity?
ALRIGHT NOW WE’RE TALKING, ANON!
First, about Dean and gender performativity I have a few thought’s I have written about in other posts: this meta about 15x10, this meta about emotional vulnerability. See also this thread about the impact of Dean being raised, essentially, as a soldier.Â
Ok, so since you linked the question of self-awareness to emotional intelligence, I’m guessing you are asking about emotional self-awareness specifically? If so, I think Dean is actually very self-aware. What we tend to see on screen isn’t Dean being unaware of what he’s struggling with or feeling in general, and why, but that Dean doesn’t confide in people, especially Sam. Part of this is that Dean is constantly compartmentalizing his problems because the job comes first (see posts linked above about Dean’s military upbringing), or he doesn’t want to burden others with it, which plays into Dean’s self-loathing. Often, the problem is that because we have often focalized through Sam, Dean’s reluctance to talk to his little brother gets translated as Dean not talking at all or not knowing what even to talk about. Here’s some shining moments of Dean being well aware of what he’s feeling and his coping mechanisms (under the cut because, as usual, I’m wordy asf):
A. first clear moment on Dean being well aware of his inner turmoil, but not wanting to talk about it with Sam because he doesn’t want to burden Sam with it. Dean will, though, talk to another hunter who he just met btw (from 2x03):
Dean:Â Yeah. Yeah, you know. He was just one of those guys. Took some terrible beatings, just kept coming. So you're always thinking to yourself, he's indestructible. He'll always be around, nothing can kill my dad. Then just like that (snaps) he's gone. I can't talk about this to Sammy. You know, I gotta keep my game face on. (clears throat) But, uh, the truth is I'm not handling it very well. Feel like I have this -
Gordon:Â Hole inside you? And it just gets bigger and bigger and darker and darker? Good. You can use it. Keeps you hungry. Trust me. There's plenty out there needs killing, and this'll help you do it. Dean, it's not a crime to need your job.
B. this bit from from 14x14 is also very on brand for Dean and illustrates that not only is Dean self-aware about his feelings, but he’s self-aware about his coping mechanisms AND is willing to talk to someone he sees as a partner (which is often not Sam because Sam in many ways is still ~the baby in Dean’s eyes):
Castiel: Hey, Dean? Dean: I'm fine. Castiel: What you're doing, even just sitting here and having a cup of coffee, is a Herculean feat. I can't imagine the willpower it's taking to keep Michael imprisoned. Are you really fine? Dean: I don't know, Cas. But that's what I'm supposed to say, right? "I'm fine," keep on moving? That's what we all say. Castiel: No, Dean. Dean: Okay. There's this pounding in my head. It never stops. Michael's in there, and he is fighting hard to get out. And I can't let my guard down not for a second. I'm barely even sleeping. Castiel: Well, that's not sustainable. Dean: No. No. It's probably not. But no point in complaining about it. It's on me. Castiel: No. It's on us. We are here to help you. Dean: I know. I know that. And I appreciate that. I do.
C. another instance of Dean being self-aware is when he jokes at Sam about ignoring his trauma in 15x14, in the context that Dean is very aware he isn’t fine, as we saw in his purgatory prayer to Cas in 15x09:
DEAN: He’ll be fine. I mean, I’ve been through worse. Look at me, I’m the picture of health. SAM: Ignoring your trauma doesn’t make you healthy. DEAN: Sure it does.
And compare that to the conversation between Sam and Dean in the Tombstone script that just got released yesterday:
And these are just a few examples, go look at Dean’s speech in 3x10 about his resentment towards John or the comparable speech to Mary Dean makes in 12x22.Â
Dean’s coping mechanisms may not always be the healthiest, but he is both aware of his issues, anxieties, and trauma, as he is when he is avoiding dealing with a problem or keeping it to himself for multiple reasons. Ultimately, Dean is a private person with his thoughts and emotions, and while there’s messed up reasons behind why he is like that to a harmful degree, that’s also a part of his personality.Â
Jumping off of these thoughts about Dean’s self-awareness, I want to touch on your question about emotional intelligence. I think that over the years it’s pretty clear Dean grows and his emotional intelligence grows with him, just just part of aging. However, between his upbringing, his trauma, and self loathing, Dean’s emotional intelligence takes a toll in that I think it gets interfered with by those issues. That said, Dean also has traits that would very much aid him in being emotionally intelligent: he’s perceptive, compassionate, with a keen sense of justice (I mean look at his relationship with the kids he bonds with through the seasons). Consider also the times we see Dean alone with his thoughts, even if he’s working through them via outlets (be it hitting Baby’s chassis in s2 with a crowbar or drinking alone in his room), which tells me that he’s fairly introspective, too. So, to answer your question: I think Dean could be quite emotionally intelligent and is so at times, but often has trouble with it due to his mental health issues, etc. Â
Hope this answered your questions, anon! Feel free to send more :D

In Case of Emergency (Ch 7/10)
Ao3 | 2/13.3k | Buddie | Status: Incomplete
Prev. Chapter | Next Chapter
Chapter 7: You obviously haven't tried my cereal! Just a little slice of domesticity between Buck and Eddie, with Eddie planning on surprising Buck with a thankyou dinner for organising a Christmas that didn’t involve being apart from his son. Set post 3x10: Christmas Spirit.
All Eddie wanted to do was make Buck dinner as a thank you for playing a part in organising Christmas with everyone. He knew that even with Buck adamantly saying otherwise, that the main reason for it was for him and Chris. He saw the way Buck looked when Chris had asked to have Christmas with him, and he knew that Buck hated letting anyone down, especially Chris.
So, he had messaged Maddie, asking her to keep Buck distracted and out of the apartment for the afternoon while he got to work on a lasagne, sourcing the ingredients and letting himself into Buck’s apartment as a surprise for him when he got home. It was nothing extravagant, but he knew how much Buck appreciated a home-cooked meal and that it was one of his favourite meals.
It was no secret that he was not the best in the kitchen, oftentimes when they did have dinner at his place it involved either takeaway or Buck being the one doing the cooking. Which is why he thought he might try his hand at doing something unexpected, as a form of appreciation instead of more gifts.
Unfortunately for him, even with confidence, a well-laid plan and a solid recipe, a meal could be easily undone by a cook’s ineptitude and this time was no exception.
** ** ** ** ** ** **
It had been a few months since they’d had that morning conversation and things have been going steady for Eddie and Buck. It felt right and easy, easier than either of them could have thought it would be. They decided that day to go slowly, privately for the time being as they learned more of each other through this new lens of their relationship.
They were pretty sure that the others hadn’t picked up on anything different between them and they were perfectly content to keep a lid on their relationship in the workplace; that was something that they had made clear with each other at the very beginning, to keep their personal life separate from work, and away from prying eyes at least for the time being.
However, despite their attempts at keeping their relationship quiet for as long as possible, there was no escaping the observant eyes of one Maddie Buckley, who, after a couple of months of putting two and two together, eventually managed to coax the truth out of Buck before dinner one evening while Chim was still on the way from his apartment. She had been quick to both celebrate the development and promised that she’d keep their secret until they were ready to publicly be a couple. Â
Throughout those months Buck was over at Eddie’s more often, spending more and more time with him and Chris. By Christmastime, Buck was surprised to learn that he was Chris’s second choice after knowing that he couldn’t spend it with his dad. It was heart-warming to know that his boyfriend’s son already saw him as family enough to want to spend Christmas with him and, he couldn’t bear disappointing the kid.
It didn’t take much to get the idea set into motion, especially once he shared it with Athena and let her have full reign in getting everything organised. That day was his gift, making sure everyone in the team could still have the chance to celebrate Christmas on the day and in his head, he said it was for everyone but deep in his heart he knew the true reason was that it was always meant to be a gift for Eddie and Chris.
He never expected any sort of thank you, that was never the purpose nor the point of having Christmas in the firehouse, besides seeing everyone’s joy was thank you enough. He certainly never expected to find Eddie preparing dinner in his apartment while he’d been out with Maddie taking advantage of post-Christmas sales in the limbo week before New Year’s. Â
Even from the other side of the door, he could hear the sounds of someone in the kitchen and he grinned to himself knowing there to be only one person who had both the access and the comfortability to be in his apartment without him being present.
This was something that had become a common occurrence between each other. Letting themselves in regardless of whether or not the other was home, Buck doing it more often than Eddie; making themselves comfortable knowing that the other would be home soon. So, it was quite the pleasant surprise for the roles to be reversed especially as he saw the amusing sight of Eddie frowning at the dish in front of him, skewer in hand.
“What’s all this?” he uttered as a way of announcing his presence, unable to contain himself as he closed the door with his foot and watched as Eddie startle minutely as he placed the mysterious dish back in the oven before fiddling with the timer dial and then smoothly leaned one arm against the countertop beside him, in an attempt to mask his earlier surprise.
“And a hello to you too,” responded Eddie with that near mocking tone that Buck couldn’t help but love. It was enough for him to immediately drop the bags where he was standing and stride over to his partner, in more ways than one, and quickly kiss his lips in apology and greeting.
“Hey there,” he murmured as he loosely wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist before breaking eye contact with Eddie as he surveyed the kitchen with a furrowed brow before returning his gaze back to Eddie’s, “I didn’t forget any plans, did I? If I knew you were here, I would’ve come home earlier.”
Eddie hummed contentedly and brought his arms around Buck, keeping their bodies impossibly close, “Nope, no plans. I just wanted to surprise you with dinner to thank you for what you did for Christmas.”
Touched that Eddie felt the need to thank him for something that he felt didn’t need thanks, he looked away bashfully, “I didn’t really do anything, just talked to Athena about it, she did all the work.”
“Don’t sell yourself short, I’m sure you did more than you let on. No matter, it meant the world to Chris,” Eddie tilted his head up and claimed Buck’s lips with his own before parting once again, “and to me, so thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Buck said softly, and pecked him on the lips once more before stepping out of Eddie’s arms and moved past him to look over the saucepans still holding some of the leftover sauces, “So, what did you decide to make?”
With his back to Eddie, he didn’t see the frown fall on his face, but he could hear the hint of barely concealed irritation colour his voice, “Lasagne. I was hoping Maddie would keep you out for a bit longer, so it’d be ready by the time you got home, but it’s not going exactly how I planned.”
“I knew she was up to something, there was just something in the way she was acting.” Buck shook his head as he murmured to himself, bemused, now understanding the conniving glint in his sister’s eyes.
“Anything I can help with?” he asked Eddie as he sampled both of the sauces and felt his mouth water in response, half surprised how well they’ve turned out.
Eddie hip-checked Buck to move him away from the oven door as the timer went off and reclaimed the oven mitts to bring the dish out of the oven. The cheesy top was a deep golden at this point and the edges were darkened to a near-burned look.
Buck watched with mild amusement as Eddie skewered it again and groaned in frustration, “Only if you know anything about softening the pasta sheets, I used the oven- ready ones because they were supposed to be easy but they’re still crunchy in there. I hoped that maybe the extra ten minutes I put it in for would’ve helped.”
Seeing the tension in Eddie’s shoulders and knowing how much he hated feeling like he was failing at something, Buck crowded up behind him, placing his hands on Eddie’s hips and pressed a kiss to his shoulder as he peeked over, reaching around to make his own assessment.
“Not all hope is lost just yet. We might be able to salvage this with some boiling water, plastic wrap, and foil,” he said thoughtfully as he stepped back and leveraged himself up to sit on the island bench unfazed as Eddie looked at him expectantly before frowning.
“Oh, I see, by we you mean me?” he responded in playful sarcasm with a hand on his hip as he took in Buck’s new position.
Buck laughed and spread his hands in an open gesture, “Eds, I am entirely confident that you can do this without me.”
“Except for the fact that I have no idea what I’m doing. This isn’t part of the recipe.” Eddie shot back a hint of anxiety in his voice, causing Buck to relent in his teasing, and clearly explained what needed to be done, suppressing a smile when Eddie’s face flooded with relief over having instructions to follow.
Half an hour later, he was watching with bated breath as Eddie cut through the now soft and pliable layers of the lasagne, looking as though he expected the dish to be completely inedible, much like the few dinners he’d attempted in the past.
It seemed in Eddie’s eyes it was nothing short of a miracle, considering his track record, and he voiced as much as they ate at the table, asking how he could have possibly known how to salvage their dinner aside from scraping off the sauces and trying again with a different pasta.
“Believe it or not, I did the exact same thing the first time I made it after moving away from home.”  Buck shrugged as he answered between mouthfuls, “and then searched online how to fix it without losing the whole batch.”
“Damn, and here I was thinking that you figured it out all on your own.”
“Sorry to disappoint but the internet is and will always be my best friend when it comes to cooking, it has yet to fail me on fixing any meal.” Buck proclaimed and then added as an aside, “not to mention, Bobby is a vault when it comes to problem-solving food.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
Shortly thereafter as the dinner itself came to a close, the topic of conversation gravitated to Buck's shopping when Eddie’s eyes drifted to the abandoned bags by the door, reminding Buck of the gift that he’d almost forgotten about until now, having been caught up in the domestic vision of seeing his boyfriend cooking for him.
“Now I know you said Christmas lunch was a gift in and of itself, but I ordered this well before I even came up with that idea and it seems even more fitting that you get it now.”
He watched with pursed lips as he slid the already wrapped present across the table to Eddie, suppressing what was probably a shit-eating grin as he did so, knowing exactly how Eddie was going to react.
Eddie eyed it suspiciously as he opened it before standing arms outstretched as he dryly read the words out loud, “I can’t cook for shit, but it’s my turn.”
“Flip it over,” Buck suggested with a snort unable to contain the amusement of his own joke to himself especially when he could see how much effort Eddie was putting into trying to keep a straight face as he continued, “who says I can’t cook? You obviously haven’t tried my cereal!”
“One side for me and one side for Chris,” Buck supplied lightly, barely able to keep the laugh from his voice.
Eddie rolled his eyes in mock annoyance but couldn’t maintain the façade, eventually breaking down into chuckles as he threw the apron back in his face, “you’re a menace.”
“You know you love it,” Buck responded smugly.
“Hmm,” Eddie hummed thoughtfully, coyly playing off his amusement as he bracketed Buck’s body with his arms and distracted him with a kiss before speaking against Buck’s lips, “that’s for me to know and for you to find out.”

there is dumb josh drama on Twitter @enbyriley has compiled a whole google doc on things they’re angry at him for. This is of little interest to us, but there are DM screenshots in there that strongly suggest Gary Marsh was in the way of andi mack. docs doot google doot com/document/d/1-qh1c5y7y2TglXQIKcNpTqISWmDZRoW3V472oU1wkRQ
Yeah it’s the most honest we’ve seen anyone from Andi Mack be about the censorship and restrictions they faced and those ultimately came from Gary Marsh. I really don’t care about this rehashed drama, some of it is serious stuff that I hope Josh has properly atoned for but a lot of it is pretty minor and some of these accusations seem very flimsy and don’t have any evidence to back them up. Obviously Josh should never have been so involved with the fandom across so many different platforms and I think to an extent he was failed by the adults in his life, I get that some of these instagram and discord group chats would have been private and hidden but his tumblr and twitter were public and open for everyone to see and someone whether his parents, his team, someone from the show, or someone from Disney should have intervened a long time ago. I think a lot of it has to do with not having the social network that an average kid would have which is part of a broader question of whether we as a society should be putting child actors into an adult world of working that denies them a normal childhood and forces them to grow up too fast.
It was always clear that Gary Marsh was hurting the show; the censorship was right there in front of our eyes and only got worse as the show went on. I am surprised that Josh would so openly admit it and that it didn’t leak until now. A lot of people in the fandom had a misconception that the show was cancelled because of canon Tyrus but in reality the show was cancelled before the writing of 3x10 while permission for canon Tyrus was only given during the writing of 3x21. 3x10 was filmed in August while 3x21 was filmed in December so for Disney the question wasn’t whether to cancel the show because they didn’t want to deal with a gay relationship but whether they were going to let the show end without a canon gay relationship.Â
I don’t blame Josh for being frustrated and also not for wanting to work for Disney Channel again; after all it was his characters story line that was being hurt. With the exception of Bex’s aborted Gabriel story line in 2a, Gary pretty much let Terri and the writers do what they wanted: Bex’s teen pregnancy, Andi not knowing her who father was, racism, sexism, bullying, panic attacks, learning disabilities, arrests, a funeral, and financial issues. Terri wants a Jandi, Jamber, and Muffy kiss? Sure no problem. Cyrus kissing Iris twice? Go for it! Hell they had no problem doing a gun safety plot line, we got the word gun said on Disney Channel before the word gay. And there was a reason that Cyrus and TJ could talk about the gun but not about their own feelings.Â
That’s not to say that our boy Gary is a virulent homophobe because he wouldn’t have let there be a gay character in the first place or let Cyrus come out but clearly he views two boys having feelings for each other as something far more controversial and risque than literally everything else the show tackled up to and including a gun plot line which Disney was happy to promote. Andi Mack was an important step forward for rep but there is no other rep on Disney Channel right now, not even brief Good Luck Charlie style rep, and again that’s all on Gary.Â
Josh blames Gary Marsh for there not being a Tyrus kiss which is obviously correct. A lot of people swallowed Terri’s spin in her post finale Paste magazine interview but of course she was lying about her ability to have a Tyrus kiss approved and wasn’t going to bad mouth Disney in anyway and jeopardize her Lizzie McGuire reboot. We had three conversations between Cyrus and Buffy in 3x13, 3x15, and 3x21 where Cyrus talked about his feelings for TJ in a coded way that doesn’t make any sense in universe since he was able to talk about his crush on Jonah with Buffy in S2 and in 3x11 he used the word gay. Was it a creative choice to have Cyrus never openly discuss his feelings for TJ? Of course not, Terri just couldn’t get it approved and if she couldn’t even get an open discussion of feelings approved then she was never going to get a kiss.
There’s a lot that Terri and the writers can and should be blamed for in regards to the Tyrus story line especially in S3 but if they had foreseen the restrictions they’d face then they wouldn’t have had Cyrus kiss Iris twice, or go on group and individual dates with Iris, or come up with a mashup name for them, or have Cyrus introduce Iris as his girlfriend to Andi and Buffy. The bench scene was the best ending we were going to get for Tyrus with Gary’s restrictions and Terri’s writing but it wasn’t an ending that will age well.Â
When I was talking about Seblos and Tyrus in my HSMTMTS 1x05 review I shared a snippet of an interview Gary Marsh did in 2008 regarding Ryan’s character being coded as gay in the HSM movies but not alowed to actually be gay:
Regarding the fact that there are boyfriend-girlfriend relationships in the HSM movies, Marsh interjected, “Yeah, but that’s not about sex,” as though having two boyfriends equals full-tilt boogie. And as to why there can be boyfriend and girlfriends but not two boyfriends, he could only note, “It’s just not something that we’ve ever had the opportunity to portray. It hasn’t been a place we’ve gone.”
Again I don’t think he’s personally homophobic and I don’t think he’d publicly make such a statement today but when the man in charge of Disney Channel equates a same sex relationship with sex then that’s not something he views as appropriate for children or for Disney Channel. It explains why it would be until 2014 until there was lgbtq rep on Disney with the lesbian moms on Good Luck Charlie, why there wouldn’t be an openly gay character until 2017 when Cyrus came out to Buffy, and why there wouldn’t a gay relationship until 2019 when Cyrus and TJ held hands and it explains why there’s no other rep on Disney Channel. It’s deeper issue than just one executive and it’s likely that Gary Marsh’s successor will hold somewhat similar views which means that Tyrus could be the only rep on Disney Channel and the only rep anywhere on Disney with younger kids played by actual kids for a while.

what are your top 10 fav breaking bad episodes?
10. Bug (4x09)Â
this episode has TOO many iconic moments. skyler scamming the IRS by pretending to be dumb, gus walking toward the bullets, mike telling walter to shut the fuck up and leave jesse alone, jesse having dinner with gus, and then the Ultimate moment where jesse beats walter the fuck up and pulls the “can you walk? good :) then get the fuck out of my house :)” card GOD the whole episode is like the start of jesse’s realization that he should trust mike and gus more than walter and it feels so good to watch
9. Shotgun (4x05)
after a whole season of watching jesse in a deep depression it’s such a relief to reach this episode. the COMEDY of the start where walter storms into los pollos with a GUN and the music is so intense and hes like WHERES GUS FRING WHERE IS HE WHAT HAS HE DONE WITH JESSE and then on the phone jesse is just like “im fine” like god its literally unbeatable. it’s obviously the beginning of mike and jesse’s relationship, plus on another level the beginning of gus and jesse’s Real relationship because it signals the first time gus begins to trust him. PLUS provided us with the iconic you are not the guy youre not capable of being the guy i had a guy but now i dont you. are not. the guy.Â
8. Dead Freight (5x05)
i know everyone says dead freight but dude.......it’s such a fantastic episode from start to finish! it’s such a weird combination of like, drama thriller but also sitcom hilarity? because obviously the stakes are really high and you know that if they get caught they’re going to prison like, forever, and also jesse could have straight up got run over by a train but at the same time it’s hilarious? i also love the emphasis on jesse being a problem solver at this point in the show and being able to accomplish things that even walt and mike can’t necessarily do without him. the last 60 seconds..........well we dont have to talk about that
7. Rabid Dog (5x12)
okay originally i wasn’t going to put any 5b eps on here, not because they aren’t amazing but because they aren’t exactly the kind of thing i can put on in the background and rewatch yknow? but rabid dog is so amazing because its FINALLY the point where jesse is done with walter. like it’s the final severance between them and just watching walter’s panic grow throughout the episode as he realizes that it’s going to end with one of them dying but not being able to accept that is just ... fantastic. it summarizes the complexity of their dynamic so succinctly for a single episode
6. Peekaboo (2x06)
obviously a quintessential jesse episode deserves a spot on the list. everyone is always like “this is the episode where i fell in love with jesse!!!!” and like personally i was already in love with him but yeah this episode confirmed it. it’s the first episode in the Jesse Loves Kids saga obviously and it presents the conflict he feels over like, the secondhand guilt he feels over supplying the product that puts the kid in his shitty living situation but also the knowledge that he’s trapped now. when he goes back into the house for the kid and tells him to close his eyes it’s like.......a compromise that jesse holds onto for the rest of the series. he knows he’s doing bad things but he tries to find ways to make them even a little better
5. 4 Days Out (2x09)
bottle episode #1 baby! one of the earliest episodes that is entirely dedicated to walter and jesse’s dynamic and it’s just.....classic brba. cooking in the RV out in the desert baby! jesse being dumb! walter being an asshole! ah wiiiiiiiiiiire! it’s such a good like.....foundation episode. it’s one of those episodes that you rewatch after finishing the series and you’re like “god everything has changed so much” and honestly if someone wanted to watch like One episode of breaking bad to get the gist of the whole show i would probably suggest 4 days out
4. Sunset (3x06)
another literal classic and also the first episode i watched with my mom hehe so it has a special place in my heart. in some ways it’s a very tragic episode because watching the RV get destroyed literally made me cry, but it’s so thrilling and exciting and it sets up the conflict between hank and jesse which is honestly a fav. i honestly don’t even have that much to say about it i just......love this episode it’s so rewatchable. and this is my own private domicile and i will not be harassed bitch!
3. Full Measure (3x13)
remember when Bill Hader was like “you know the end of an episode of TV that makes you gasp and wait all week for the next episode, well breaking bad has those moments constantly throughout the entire 60 minutes” THIS is the kind of episode that applies to! the battle and shifting power between gus and walter is obviously center stage but ultimately it comes down to jesse. the shot in the arcade where jesse is sitting alone and there’s the single red light GOD LETS GET INTO BREAKING BAD COLOR THEORY BABY! the episode is just so ..... dramatic and intense but artful and careful and ultimately it contains arguably the biggest moment for jesse’s character arc in the whole series
2. ABQ (2x13)
okay not to be a demon but i love this episode endlessly. i wish i could just combine it with Pheonix but i cant so ultimately i choose this one (despite it not having the water on mars conversation) it’s clearly like one of the saddest in the entire series especially for jesse but it’s so good. the introduction of mike automatically makes it memorable but the scene of jesse and walter in the crack den is burned forever into my memory its just so.....haunting. and in this episode i can FEEL myself being manipulated by walter. like i JUST watched him let jane die and i still catch myself watching ABQ and going “aw he’s talking jesse down.....he’s holding him........he’s taking him to rehab........” and that’s exactly what walter DOES to people and to catch him doing it to YOU is insaneÂ
1. Fly (3x10)
taylor u literally knew this was coming sdkfjsdfkj yeah i think this is the greatest episode in the whole show ok! ozymandias whom! yeah it’s another bottle episode but i think it’s better than 4 days out in accomplishing the ultimate goal of a bottle episode which, to me, is putting the characters together in isolation for so long that eventually their boundaries fall down. i mean obviously the concussion and drugs are part of the reason that walter starts getting so open with jesse, but the fact that they’re enclosed in the lab until walter can accomplish a meaningless goal that’s borne from paranoia just makes the conversations they have that much more meaningful. i know a lot of people don’t like this episode because its “boring” but to me, when i watch tv shows, i ACHE for even one of the single moments that this entire episode is comprised of. the fact that vince was like “okay and now let’s dedicate an entire episode to this lingering guilt that walter feels over killing jesse’s girlfriend an entire season ago and that’s the whole thing” is so bold but also so admirable because he’s truly giving something so huge (jane’s death) the attention it deserves where most shows would just sort of drop it to make room for more plot. im literally rambling but it’s just a perfect balance of what we know, what walter knows, and what jesse knows which are all conflicting and battling. “it’s not coming down, it’s staying up there forever” like ARE YOU KIDDING ME

WARNING: THIS IS AN EXTRA LONG POST!
Similar to Bughead, I absolutely cannot stand Varchie. They don’t have any depth to their relationship, and they seem to be nothing more than a relationship that is based on lust and physical attraction. On top of that, I undoubtedly find Varchie to be an extremely unhealthy, problematic and toxic relationship that just needs to be put to death. I think Varchie is one of the worst written couples on the show (next to Bughead of course) and I'm going to be generously listing my sufficient reasons as to why I don’t ship Varchie and why I absolutely loathe this terrible couple.
Varchie has 0% chemistry: For a couple based on lust, physical attraction, and sexual attraction, you would expect Archie and Veronica (AKA Varchie) to be oozing with tons of passionate, hot and intense, romantic on-screen chemistry. But unfortunately, it turns out to represent the complete opposite. Archie and Veronica don’t have any on-screen romantic or sexual chemistry whatsoever. It’s extremely unusual that Archie and Veronica are precisely the most sexual couple on the show, but their distinctive characters fail adequately to produce any on-screen romantic and sexual tension naturally. KJ Apa and Camila Mendes possess some of the weakest on-screen chemistry between any key pair of leading actors on this show (And chemistry is not this shows strength, to begin with!). In an undeniable fact, their creative chemistry is so weak that I genuinely think they maintain the least decent amount of personal chemistry out of all the romantic couples (established canon and considered non-canon) on the show alongside Bughead. Because of the apparent lack of organic chemistry between Archie/Veronica and KJ/Camila, their romantic scenes look forced, cringe-worthy and uncomfortable. KJ and Camila naturally have undeniable chemistry with everyone else except with each other. For a prime example, KJ typically has excellent on-screen chemistry with Lili Reinhart. Every single scene that KJ experiences with Lili, you can merely see the on-screen chemistry oozing from those two because they work extremely well collaboratively. KJ and Lili assuredly have organic chemistry and spark that KJ and Camila severely lack. KJ/Lili genuinely seems to enjoy an unspoken emotional intimacy together in their chemistry which typically makes their poignant scenes appear deep, profound, intimate, and emotional. On the contrary, KJ’s emotional chemistry with Camila is seriously devoid of existing. Even when KJ and Camila as Archie and Veronica are producing emotional or poignant scenes together, it falls flat for me, and I don’t genuinely feel anything for them during those emotional scenes. When two key actors are willingly sharing an emotionally intimate scene, the intended audience is naturally supposed to experience it. We’re supposed to experience the emotions of the characters seeping through the screen and the dialogue because that is how we feel empathy and sympathy for the characters. Unfortunately, Archie and Veronica fail to deliver any strength in their emotional scenes merely. For particular examples, when Archie and Veronica broke up in 3x06, I know that I was reasonably supposed to feel sad and heartbroken for them, but you know what? I simply didn’t. The chemistry between them was just non-existent, and it fell flat for me. Or when Archie and Veronica reunite in 3x10? I know I was supposed to feel joy and happiness for their characters that they were back together, but I felt nothing. That’s justified in key parts to the fundamental lack of incredible chemistry between KJ/Camila and Varchie in general. Now, it’s not KJ and Camila’s specific fault that their on-screen chemistry falls flat every particular time. More than anything, I justly blame the contributing writers and the complex dialogue for the remarkable lack of chemistry between the two iconic characters and leading actors. It’s very possible KJ and Camila could have better on-screen chemistry on another project that would utilize their potential and treat their character with more care. Since Varchie is popularly known to represent the physical, sexual couple, I would expect their scenes to be steamy, hot and cause me to feel something. But I merely don’t. Their repetitive sex scenes lack the depth and emotional intimacy and chemistry that would make any of their sex scenes hot and sexually appealing. It is the same complaint that I have with Bughead. Like Varchie, Bughead naturally lacks sexual chemistry and romantic chemistry. But at the same time, Bughead doesn’t get as physical and sexual as Varchie always does so their physical scenes aren’t as prevalent as Varchie’s. Not one sex scene of Varchie has happened in the series so far where I can say that they have amazing or hot chemistry. NOT ONE. Their first time in 1x13 lacked chemistry, and I didn’t feel any spark between them. Their explicit sex scene in the shower was highly revolting, disgusting and inappropriate. Not only did it lack chemistry, but it was just so wrong for Veronica to do that with Archie after he had just experienced something traumatic. Their sex scene at the local prison? Just plain lacking chemistry and dull. Their reunion sex scene after he came back home to Riverdale after being in isolation as a fugitive on the continuous run from Hiram Lodge? Dreadfully boring. No chemistry. Just blah, both specific times they did it with impunity in 3x10. The writers need to stop shoving so many explicit Varchie sex scenes on the show. Because they do not have the organic chemistry to pull off these sex scenes at all. KJ and Camila don’t have any on-screen chemistry, and these are just the facts.
Varchie is a stale couple: Varchie is gradually becoming the most boring, flat couple next to Bughead. I would say Bughead is still the de facto Riverdale’s Most Boring Couple, but Varchie is undoubtedly a very, very, very close second. Bughead sets me to sleep as it is but Varchie isn’t much better either. Everything about Varchie is so dull, boring and stale including their explicit sex scenes, their romantic moments, their kisses, their drama, and their frequent fights. Their problematic relationship is just plain dull. Not to mention I find Varchie’s relationship completely repetitive which is also what makes it annoying. All Varchie typically do is merely fight, break up, get back together and then have explicit sex afterward and they usually repeat that same cycle ten many times over. It’s boring, and it naturally lacks considerable diversity, creative originality, and genuine excitement. Varchie doesn’t communicate. Instead, they use sex to solve all of their problems, and it’s just so boringly repetitive. Varchie doesn’t talk about things or their problems or how to properly fix their relationship issues. They don’t secure a deep emotional connection that allures me in or causes me to genuinely want to invest in observing their destructive relationship grow excessively and flourish on an annual basis. All they do is have sex and then fight, have sex and then fight and then break up. The contributing writers don’t care about Varchie as a good couple, and it purportedly shows. If the writers did care about Archie and Veronica's relationship, they would establish some effort into making their relationship more exciting and less of a repetitive bore.Â
Varchie is a cringe couple: I can’t state it enough. Varchie is undoubtedly the most cringe-worthy personal relationship on the show. The acting is cringeworthy, and their dynamic is merely plain cringeworthy. It has been traditionally cringeworthy since the show instantly began. Their first meeting was full of cringeworthiness. I mean, Veronica just randomly walks over to Archie and Betty’s table and disturbs them to introduce herself. The direct dialogue was just so wrong and forced. It was a huge no, and that scene established me universally hating this likely couple. I invariably found their first kiss in the closet to real cringe as well because the acting and the constructive dialogue was so terrible. The majority of Veronica’s cringe-worthy and terrible lines on the show typically involve Archie somehow. Her lines like “I would recognize those abs anywhere” or her constantly calling Archie “Archiekins” (shudders). The writers of the show genuinely seem to be deliberately writing Varchie’s relationship to be shallow and cringe because none of the other couples on this show come close to the considerable amount of cringe that Varchie naturally has. What adds to the cringe factor of Varchie’s relationship is typically them continually having sex in the most arbitrary and inappropriate times and terrible places. I still believe the most cringe-worthy scene in Riverdale history is when Veronica and Archie got it on in the shower after Archie was traumatized over his father getting shot. The scene was just so bad, and I had to shut my eyes while watching it. I know the writers were expecting us as the audience to find that scene steamy and hot, but I merely found it disgusting and uncomfortable. Varchie having sex in the private prison that Archie was in was also cringe-worthy as well. I mean precisely, who has sex in a private jail like that? It’s weird. More than anything, it’s merely their creative dialogue that traditionally makes Varchie a cringe relationship. The contributing writers seriously don’t mind how Varchie and their relationship is portrayed. Otherwise, they would not be writing Varchie in such a terrible manner and with such terrible lines and dialogues. Varchie is typically just a massive cesspool of cringe that needs flushing immediately!
Barchie, Jeronica, and Veggie are superior to Varchie: I sincerely believe that Jeronica, Veggie, and Barchie, all ships that feature Archie and Veronica, are superior to Varchie. In an undeniable fact, Varchie is undoubtedly such a low rent ship that any couple is better than them, But all of those couples that I generously listed would represent a better alternative as canon romantic couples than Varchie. Let us begin with Barchie and why they would be superior to Varchie. Foremost, Barchie naturally has tons more chemistry than Varchie. Varchie doesn’t include any personal chemistry to start with, so that isn’t so complex. Barchie would not merely have great physical chemistry, but they would traditionally have superior emotional chemistry, something that Varchie severely lacks. Other than the chemistry factor, Barchie essentially possesses a unique history and delightful companionship, and that is precisely something crucial that Varchie equally lacks in direct comparison to Barchie. Archie and Betty retain a remarkably intimate, deep connection that stems back to their childhood. As a result of having that strong and deep companionship and history in their corner, Archie and Betty appreciate and recognize each other better than anyone else does. They possess a deep and genuine sense of pleasant companionship and essential kinship that Varchie does not and never will. Thirdly, Barchie is based on love while Varchie is unbridled lust. Barchie would be more than just a substantial relationship based on passionate sex and brutal lust like Varchie. They would be an actual good representation of a relationship based on true romance and true love. Varchie, on the direct contrary, naturally lacks these critical components of deep connection and sincere love. Varchie is all about promiscuous sex and physical attraction. Their contentious relationship typically consists of fighting doggedly, breaking up and having sex and nothing else. Barchie would have sex and physical intimacy indeed, but there would be vehemently intense emotions and overwhelming feelings involved in their intimate scenes. That’s invariable because Barchie enjoys a deep relationship while Varchie enjoys a shallow relationship. Barchie is naturally an emotional connection while Varchie is precisely a physical connection. Whereas I believe Betty is undoubtedly in unconditional love with Archie because of everything that he is as an amazing person, Veronica is merely in love with Archie because of the way he looks and how hot he is. Betty loves Archie for him, not his appealing looks. Veronica lusts for Archie; she doesn’t love him. That is why Barchie would be undoubtedly an everlasting romance while Varchie is typically meant to fade instantly and not last. Complex relationships like Varchie based on unbridled lust and passionate sex typically have an ingrained habit of happening quickly but also burning out quickly as well. Another key reason why Barchie would be superior to Varchie is that Barchie acquires many personal things in common. They have similar tastes in things; they have similar points of view, outlooks, personalities. They properly understand each other, yet they complement each other at the same time. Archie and Betty are the same, yet they have enough differences to balance each other out. Varchie, in contrast, doesn’t possess anything in common. The exclusive thing that I can declare that Archie and Veronica undoubtedly have in common is conspicuously their passionate love of music, but that’s not enough to correctly make a complex relationship last for a long time. Archie and Betty come from similar worlds and backgrounds while Archie and Veronica don’t. It is why Barchie would represent a beneficial relationship inapt comparison to a toxic and destructive one like Varchie. Archie being with Betty would uplift and encourage Archie; on the contrary, Archie being with Veronica has brought down and discouraged Archie. Betty is absolutely the right girl for Archie. On the other hand, Veronica is wrong for Archie. Moving leisurely onto Veggie and why they would be superior to Varchie. There is naturally much more superior development between Veggie than there was comfortably between Varchie. I feel like Veggie essentially took some time to bond and forge a friendship with each other instead of just jumping into kissing each other from the get-go. They built a friendship, and it wasn’t just based on sex right away like with Archie and Veronica. Let us not forget to prominently mention that Veggie has way better on-screen chemistry than Varchie perpetually has. That could be popularly attributed to Charles Melton and Camila Mendes dating and being legitimately a real-life couple off-screen. But the undeniable chemistry between Veggie is way better and more convincing to me than Varchie’s. Also, Archie left Veronica and took off, especially when Veronica was so desperate for him to come home after eagerly doing everything that she could to break him out of that prison instantly. Reggie was there for her to console her and generously support her. Veggie is better developed than Varchie. Veggie essentially underwent a fascinating journey; they invariably went from being overwhelmingly active enemies to frenemies to mutual friends to ardent lovers. Out of all of the current canon couples on the show, Veggie has had the best development so far. Varchie didn’t have that great of sustainable development on the contrary. They kissed in the very first episode without even getting to appreciate each other properly. Their direct connection was immediately physical and sexual. Yeah, they have waited to date and get together at the end of season 1, but I still feel like their relationship was rushed and lacked proper development. I feel like the writers just put Archie and Veronica together because Jughead and Betty were together and they merely wanted Archie and Veronica to be with someone. Technically speaking, Varchie is indeed the main official couple of the series automatically because Archie is traditionally the leading character and Veronica is respectively Archie’s longtime girlfriend. But regardless, Varchie fails on so many reasonable levels especially when you justly compare them to Veggie and how they formulated and developed naturally. Veggie is just superior to Varchie in all key aspects: organic chemistry, proper development, and an established connection. Because of this, I honestly hope Varchie never get back together, and that Veggie continues to grow and prosper into a stronger relationship over the remainder of the season. Next, onto my final comparison of Jeronica and Varchie. I naturally think Jeronica would be superior to Varchie because Jeronica admittedly has excellent on-screen chemistry while Varchie doesn’t include any organic chemistry at all. Jeronica, IMO, possesses some of the strongest romantic and sexual chemistry of an established couple or specific dynamic on this show. For some reason, Cole and Camila have that natural chemistry that is extremely hard to act out. It’s the type of chemistry that is tangible and potent, and you can see it and feel it when Cole and Camila have scenes together. Cole and Camila work very well together professionally, and their undeniable chemistry is strong, solid and outstanding. I would argue convincingly that Cole/Camila undoubtedly has the strongest on-screen chemistry between two leading actors in the series, followed closely by KJ/Lili, Charles/Camila and Skeet/Madchen (Skeet/Marisol also have remarkably good chemistry too). KJ/Camila merely don't have the same chemistry and spark that Cole/Camila produce during their key scenes. I recognize one scene between Cole/Camila to be more intense, magical and interesting than all of the scenes between KJ/Camila combined throughout the series. Aside from the strong chemistry that Jeronica naturally has and how their excellent chemistry typically exceeds Varchie’s by countless miles, I assuredly find Jeronica a more intriguing and interesting dynamic than Varchie. Varchie is traditionally a very boring, cliche high school relationship based on lust and sexual attraction. Jeronica, in direct contrast, would be more interesting than Varchie because it would be sincerely a relationship traditionally based on genuine friendship and kinship. I feel like if Jeronica were inevitably to become romantically established canon in the potential future, their relationship would be substantial because they would invariably have a necessary foundation of mutual friendship and intellectual companionship. Unlike Varchie, Jeronica would be interesting because they would genuinely have a highly fascinating journey and continuous development. Watching Jughead and Veronica develop progressively into a potential romance in the imminent future would be such an impressive and fun thing to observe. They would go from enemies to frenemies, to work partners, to friends, to lovers and it would be so grandly fascinating to watch. Varchie, in marked contrast to Jeronica, traditionally lacked that distinct type of incredible journey and gradual development. I never got to see Varchie properly develop over a reasonable period of considerable time. They just got together so quickly before they could develop. Because of that, I, unfortunately, find Varchie’s negative relationship incredibly shallow. Another chief reason why Jeronica is superior to Varchie aside from the chemistry factor and the development factor is that Jughead and Veronica have a lot of essential things in common. They traditionally come from similar worlds and similar backgrounds. Both Jughead and Veronica come from worlds and families situated in organized crime. They can handle each other’s lifestyles and worlds because they are remarkably similar. A key part of the practical reason why Varchie instantly became such a problematic and toxic relationship is because of the key fact that Archie and Veronica come from vastly contrasting backgrounds and cultural worlds. Veronica’s background and family ended up corrupting Archie because he comes from a completely distinct world than she does. Archie is more sheltered than Veronica and wasn’t raised in a morally ambiguous background the unusual way that Veronica was in contrast. Archie is brought up in a very morally uptight environment and background similar to Betty, and that is why he became so morally compromised when he voluntarily joined Veronica’s family business and faithfully followed Hiram blindly. Jughead, in notable contrast to Archie, would be able to properly handle Veronica’s morally ambiguous world of the organized mob. Jughead would naturally have the strong enough moral code to withstand or fiercely resist being morally corrupted by the personal likes of Hiram Lodge, Hermione Lodge and the frequent rest of the mob family. But Jughead would moreover be comfortable conforming with Veronica’s morally ambiguous family background because he grew up in a morally ambiguous background. He grew up in a gang family, a distinguished family that typically conducts unlawful activities to get by financially. Jughead’s alcoholic father has been prominently involved with the Serpents since he was allegedly Jughead’s critical age and therefore, he has been knowingly exposed to criminal activity since he was precisely a minor child. The criminal underworld is undoubtedly Jughead and Veronica’s everlasting life. They were naturally born into this collective life. Archie and Betty were not, and that is why Jughead and Veronica would be so much of a more exact fit than Archie and Veronica. Jeronica would be superior to Varchie because I naturally feel like Jughead is what Veronica needs at the end of it all. All of Veronica’s established relationships have been physical or based on lust. She hasn't had an emotional or deep connection with someone whom she's romantically involved. I feel like Jughead would represent the first guy that she would essentially enjoy an emotional attachment, connection, and bond with and that would be an essential step for Veronica’s character. Jughead would adequately provide Veronica with the genuine affection, love, trust, eternal friendship and emotional support that she so desperately needs and doesn’t seem to be properly received from Archie. I possess more excellent reasons why I genuinely believe that Jeronica would be superior to Varchie, but then it would instantly turn into a published novel. I assuredly have so many more reasons as to why Barchie, Veggie, and Jeronica would be way better romantic couples than Varchie combined but I typically have to intentionally try and condense my reasons and carefully keep it short. To sum it up, I naturally feel that Barchie, Veggie, and Jeronica are all superior to Varchie and two of those prominent couples aren’t veritably established canon (yet), and that essentially reveals a mighty lot about how inferior Varchie is undoubted.
Varchie is strongly incompatible:  Archie and Veronica don’t match at all. They are undoubtedly not a good or ideal match because of how vastly different they are rightfully in proper regard to distinct personality and cultural backgrounds. They come from completely distinct worlds. Archie traditionally comes from an ordinary middle-class family in the minor town of Riverdale. Veronica comes from a fabulously wealthy privileged family in New York City. Archie grew up in an excellent, upstanding environment while Veronica grew up in a morally ambiguous environment traditionally filled with organized crime. Archie is from a working-class family, and he barely has any money; Veronica is economically from an enormously wealthy family and possesses tons of (illegal or dirty) money which gives her more power over Archie in the relationship. One of the fundamental reasons why Archie and Veronica are incompatible is because of their vastly contrasting backgrounds. Never mind the fact that Veronica is rich, and Archie is working class. It’s the fact that Veronica comes from a dangerous and corruptive crime family. When Archie made the conscious choice to join Veronica’s family eagerly, it was one of the unwisest decisions that Archie ever made on the show. He didn’t grasp the extent of how corrupting Veronica’s family would be by getting involved with them. Because of Hiram controlling and manipulating Archie, Archie started to change tremendously for the negative; He was no longer the same Archie that we dearly loved and rooted for in season 1. Veronica and her family have a corrupting influence on Archie, and that is ungood. Archie practically became a villain because of being involved with Veronica and her family. Not solely did being involved with Veronica and her family negatively change Archie’s personality but he also underwent constant emotional trauma. Veronica’s wealthy multi-billionaire father Hiram Lodge orchestrated everything in attempts at destroying Archie’s personal life, and that is why Archie is inevitably in the precarious position that he’s currently in right now. If Archie never got involved with Veronica, then Archie would have been exceedingly happier. If Archie had merely executed a different decision at the official start of the series and had just chosen Betty over Veronica, Archie wouldn’t be battling all of the complex issues that he is. Veronica and her prestigious family have been undoubtedly a heavily toxic influence on Archie, and they have been bad for his mental and emotional health. The incompatibility between Archie and Veronica is primarily dependent on the two of them coming from clashing, incompatible worlds. Archie shouldn’t be involved with Veronica and her family whatsoever because Archie is naive, absolutely trusting and easily manipulated. Influential people like Veronica’s family prey on people like Archie and corrupt them in the continuous process. Other than the clashing, conflicting backgrounds in which Archie and Veronica grew up in, I feel like Archie and Veronica are incompatible because they don’t genuinely possess anything of substance in common. Other than their mutual love and mutual appreciation for music, what else do they naturally have in common? I can’t seem to figure out one thing that these two retain in common. Oh, wait, they do obtain something in common besides their love of music. They genuinely love having sex! That’s merely it. That’s all Varchie traditionally have in common: music and having sex. That’s not a recipe for a beneficial, sustainable, and compatible relationship. When sex is precisely the exclusive thing that two people in a relationship share in common, then that facilitates a severely inappropriate relationship. If two people are in a relationship simply for the key reason for getting physical, then they shouldn’t be in the relationship. Now, the third specific reason why I undoubtedly feel like Archie and Veronica are incompatible is the social status issue and the money issue. Veronica naturally has more considerable money and boundless wealth than Archie. As a result, it automatically sets her in a more dominant and controlling position in the relationship. I’m uncertain that’s a good thing, but that’s not the only issue I have with them. Veronica would likely flaunt her wealth and status to try and acquire Archie to accomplish what she asks whenever she wants because she would use her wealth and status to lord it over him when it would benefit her. She could use those things to manipulate Archie whenever she desires. The severe differences in financial and economic status create an imbalance in their relationship. But then again, Jughead and Veronica invariably have seriously contrasting economic statuses, and I genuinely think they would be great together so Archie and Veronica being of separate social statuses and socio-economic/financial status isn’t categorically my most pressing issue with Varchie when it traditionally comes to their compatibility. I reasonably find Varchie incompatible because of their seriously clashing backgrounds and because they seldom have anything in common except consensual sex and physical activity. It is precisely what typically makes Varchie’s questionable relationship of little specific substance or value.
Varchie is based on lust + sexual attraction: Varchie is way too sexual and lustful of a relationship. All Archie and Veronica produce every particular episode is sleep together. They don’t consider anything else in their relationship. Where’s the deep connection? Effective communication? The kindred soul bonding? The emotional comfort and moral support? Eternal friendship and pleasant companionship? It’s just not there at all. Varchie is unbridled lust, physical attraction, and erotic attraction. It’s been typically like that since the promising start of the show. We all traditionally saw that Archie was instantly attracted to Veronica’s physical beauty. He looked like he was prepared to pounce on her and have sex with her right in the middle of Pop’s Diner. Now, I’m not saying physical attraction is a bad thing and that having some lust in the relationship is wrong because it isn’t. Having sexual attraction and lust in the relationship can make a relationship way more fun, exciting and enticing to watch. However, it’s not fun or intriguing to watch when the continuous relationship is solely sex and lust. Archie and Veronica appear to naturally lack an emotional bond and meaningful connection in their complex relationship. More precisely when they try and communicate with each other emotionally, it merely turns into a sex scene. Every time I think there is going to be a deep and significant conversation between Archie and Veronica about their problems and their relationship, they manage to ruin it by having sex right after. It is why I can’t take Varchie and their established relationship seriously. I’m typically not an identified fan of Bughead at all (I merely mean, I heartily despise Bughead with a passion.). But the one distinct advantage I will willingly give them over Varchie is invariable that they aren’t having sex every episode. Their relationship isn't just gratuitous sex and physical attraction. They don’t constantly use sex to combat their problems. Varchie does all of those things instead of acting as a real romantic couple should. They don't provide each other emotional comfort and generous support during a difficult and traumatic time, communicate openly and honestly with each other, resolve issues by talking coherently and bonding with each other, get each other the help and support they need when they are in emotional trouble, etc. These are all things that are seriously lacking in Archie and Veronica's relationship, and this is why their relationship doesn’t work for me. There’s no unfathomable depth to Varchie’s negative relationship. It’s shallow, and its foundation is sexual attraction. I feel like Veronica enjoys the idea of Archie more than she loves Archie, the person. I genuinely feel like Veronica only loves the physical aspect of Archie, not Archie as a whole person. I mean precisely, Veronica couldn’t tell Archie that she loved him when Archie, on the other hand, could. What does that inform you about their relationship? I feel like Veronica uses Archie for intimate comfort and that’s it. I love Veronica, and she is one of my fave characters but what bothers me about her relationship with Archie is the lack of depth and how she uses sex to solve her problems with Archie. Veronica's a very lustful and flirtatious character, and Archie has a way of undoubtedly enhancing that distinguishing quality in her. I find that troublesome and problematic because Veronica is only a 16-year-old girl and she shouldn’t be over-sexualized at such a young age. She’s underage, and she’s still a child. It adds to the racial stereotype that Latina girls and women are slutty, lustful, promiscuous and over-sexualized. It doesn’t help that Archie is a hormone-addled teenaged boy who is horny and typically wants to get laid constantly. Veronica feeds into Archie's lascivious, hedonistic and sexually deviant behavior and it’s not a good thing. Archie being too sexual of character who constantly wants to have sex with Veronica makes Archie come across as a shallow and only horny person and wants to sleep with tons of girls. Varchie’s sexual connection is detrimental to both Archie and Veronica as principal characters. Because of the constant sexual nature of their relationship, Archie and Veronica are slut-shamed by the fandom and are looked down upon in comparison to Bughead who are significantly less sexual than Varchie. Carefully add to the fact that Archie and Veronica are always engaging in sexual activity at the most inappropriate times. Archie and Veronica allegedly have sex in the shower after Archie is traumatized over his father being shot and almost dying? Check. Archie and Veronica having sex in the middle of Veronica’s living room where her parents could walk in at any minute and capture them in an uncompromising situation? Check. Veronica arriving at Archie’s house to purportedly show her support for Fred as Mayor but then proceeding to go up to Archie’s private room to allegedly have sex? Archie and Veronica sleeping together at a bonfire with Jughead and Betty not far away from them? Check. Archie and Veronica having sex at the local prison in which Archie is locked up? Check. Archie and Veronica are having sex right after they are joyfully reunited and Archie comes home after being a fugitive? Check. It’s just...Varchie is always having sex and enjoying it at the most inappropriate or unnecessary times. It’s just way too much. Varchie is traditionally a purely physical, sexual connection and nothing else. That is one of the fundamental reasons why I hate them together.
Varchie is a boring couple: This goes back to my other point of this post. Varchie is dull. They have overstayed their welcome on this show. Their continuous relationship has undoubtedly contributed nothing of fundamental value or considerable significance to the show, and they have instantly become such a useless ship. Their relationship is played out, and there’s nothing left to do with them. Varchie is remarkably similar to Bughead in that regard. An essential part of the apparent reason why Varchie has naturally become such a dreadful bore is that Varchie lack chemistry, they traditionally lack proper development and they are rushed eagerly and happened way too fast for my sincere liking. The lack of organic chemistry is typically the biggest reason why Varchie remains a dull and boring couple. When an attractive couple doesn’t have new, convincing chemistry, the couple becomes dry as stale toast or dull as dirty dishwater. Varchie isn’t an exciting relationship whatsoever because there’s admittedly no impenetrable mystery to their relationship. They have already served their purpose, and I don’t see the point in the writers even attempting to reunite them or put them back together in the future. In comparison to Veggie, Varchie is undoubtedly a sufficiently complete, total bore fest. Veggie is everything that Varchie wishes it could be invariably but will under no circumstances be. In notable addition, what contributes to Varchie’s boringness is assured that they didn’t receive proper development. They happened so fast into the series, and they were rushed. When a couple occurs too rapidly, the couple gets stale quickly. There’s nothing left to do with this couple, and I hope the writers keep Varchie apart for good. There have been numerous complaints in the fandom and amongst loyal viewers about Varchie being naturally a boring, dull couple and legitimate grievances and constructive criticisms about them are entirely warranted.Â
Archie may be in love with Betty: I sincerely believe that Archie harbors romantic feelings for Betty, but he merely doesn’t want to admit it to himself candidly. Let us go back to 1x01 of the series. Archie never got a reasonable chance to experience whatever he genuinely felt for Betty because of the excessive interference of Veronica and Ms. Grundy. When Archie found out that Betty had genuine feelings for him, he naturally had a complete and total freak out. He has never expected his best friend since childhood to love him romantically. But that’s not the main reason why Archie freaked out when Betty told him how she felt for him. When Archie and Betty talk in front of Betty’s modest house, Betty questions Archie about whether or not he possesses any romantic feelings for her and if he loves her. Archie tells Betty that of course, he cherishes her, but at that moment in time, he couldn’t submit her the answer she wanted. Archie politely tells Betty that she is so perfect and that he will never be admirable enough for her. Archie seriously believed that he wasn’t good enough for Betty because he has such serious self-esteem issues and doesn’t think he deserves anything good. Therefore that is precisely why he comfortably settled for enjoying a consensual yet illegal affair with Ms. Grundy and flirting with Veronica instead because he felt like he wasn't good enough of a person to be with someone as special as Betty. Do you not recognize the situation for what it is? Archie rejected Betty because he loathes himself, not because he doesn’t love or harbor genuine feelings for Betty. The fact that Archie settled for dating Veronica instead of being with Betty shows how low he regards himself. We receive a comprehensive glimpse of Archie harboring romantic feelings for Betty when Archie notices how Jughead and Betty have gotten closer and are affectionate with each other. Archie immediately looks bitterly wary and suspicious when he sees Jughead placing his arm around Betty. Archie is so interested in what is going on between Jughead and Betty that he immediately rushes to Jughead to inquire what is going on between the two of them. Why would Archie be so curious about her and Jughead getting closer if Archie didn't care about Betty romantically? If Archie only viewed Betty as just a lifelong friend, then why would Archie get so jealous when Jughead tenderly touched Betty and acted like a longtime boyfriend to her? It’s because Archie acquires feelings for Betty, but he doesn’t want to admit it. Those feelings that he has buried so deep, but it’s there, shining brightly at the same time. A key scene that gave away that Archie retains romantic feelings for Betty and undoubtedly sees a possible romantic future between the both of them was admittedly at the end of season 1. Archie was frightened to tell Betty about he and Veronica dating and beginning a relationship. When Veronica and Archie told Betty about their relationship and Betty appeared to be gracefully accepting of them dating, Archie was sorely disappointed and skeptical. It’s like Archie wanted Betty to be genuinely upset and hurt that he was genuine with Veronica. Archie wanted Betty to harbor resentful feelings over him and Veronica dating because it would instantly confirm to him that Betty still possesses those genuine feelings for him. So to make sure, Archie confronts Betty privately and interrogates her once again if she is really alright with Archie being with Veronica especially after the first time when she legitimately took Archie and Veronica kissing hard. Betty earnestly assures Archie that she is suitable with him and Veronica being allegedly a devoted couple even though she wasn’t at first. Archie promptly tells Betty that he naturally thinks that Veronica is amazing and great and that he genuinely enjoys her, but that a little part of him has always thought that he and Betty would be together romantically someday. Betty interrupts Archie’s love confession to Betty by saying to him that despite their complex, intimate history together, it’s tremendous that the two of them have discovered people that they are content with right now (Jughead for Betty, Veronica for Archie) and that they all managed to remain friends after all the tension between them in the beginning. Archie looks sad and disappointed at Betty’s words, and you can see that he has a yearning and looking look in his face and his expression when he’s looking at Betty. You can completely see in his expressive face that he does love Betty, but he can’t express it. Or how about the key fact that when Archie, Betty, and Veronica all went to Southside High to sincerely convince Jughead to go back to Riverdale High with them? When Jughead and Betty were hugging each other, Archie was gazing at both of them with a combination of jealousy and longing. Like he genuinely wanted to be the inclined one with Betty supporting her and encouraging her. Even Veronica noticed the meaningful way that Archie was looking thoughtfully at Betty and she contemptuously called him out on it. She could tell that Archie has deeply concealed feelings for her that he hasn’t expressed or admitted. The subsequent time we regard a unique glimpse of romantic feelings between Barchie is in mid-season 2. The first personal time is precisely after Archie and Veronica break up in 2x08 because Veronica couldn’t tell Archie that she genuinely loved him. We next see Archie in his room staring at Betty from his window next door. He is providing her this look of wonder and longing. Betty equally sees Archie from her visible window, and the engaged two of them share an intimate, passionate and romantic scene just by staring at each other through their windows and not saying a needed word to each other. You can merely see and feel the chemistry and the unspoken passionate feelings between them. It’s simply undeniable. The second precise time we identify a visible sign that Archie may undoubtedly have romantic feelings for Betty is when Archie and Betty end up sharing an intimate, emotional kiss that was an irresistible impulse in 2x09. Both Archie and Betty thought they were going to die together taking down the Black Hood, so Betty kissed Archie because it was the ultimate thing she desired to perform if she had died. Archie looked shocked when Betty leaned in to kiss him, but if you look closely, Archie was also leaning into the kiss meaning that he genuinely wanted to kiss her. There are so many intriguing glimpses and unmistakable signs that Archie harbors romantic feelings for Betty, and it’s solely in his explicit expression, the meaningful way he smiles tenderly around her, the way he looks wistfully at her. Archie Andrews is in love with Betty Cooper, but he doesn’t realize it yet. But you know what? That glorious day when he uncovers his luminous eyes and instantly realizes it will come promptly enough and when it undoubtedly does, it is inevitably going to completely blow Varchie and their mediocre relationship out the abundant water! Archie and Betty are undoubtedly meant to be, period!
Varchie is forced and rushed: I’m not an ardent fan of how Varchie progressively developed into a romantic relationship. I think Varchie is rushed in terms of development and the manner in how they got to become a couple on the show. I mean precisely, I undoubtedly know they got together after Bughead, but I still can’t help but note their relationship lacking good development. I didn’t genuinely care for how Archie and Veronica encountered each other in the Pilot episode first of all. I’m a big Veronica fan, but the fact that she came to interrupt Archie and Betty’s friendship date at Pop’s really annoyed the fuck out of me (Sue me, I am undoubted, always have been and still will be a Barchie shipper, both in the Archie Comics universe and in Riverdale!). Archie completely ignored Betty as soon as he set eyes on Veronica. Affirmative, there was an instant attraction between the two. But Archie and Veronica’s meeting only solidified that their relationship was typically going to be instantly rushed into and not properly developed. I knew more presently than later that Archie and Veronica were going to kiss in the same episode and I turned out to be right. Archie and Veronica end up kissing passionately in Cheryl’s closest at her house while engaging in a game. I feel like there was assuredly no build up to Archie and Veronica kissing and it is upon passionate impulse. Their vital kiss should have had more build up and time instead of the two of them just jumping into it so quickly. Archie and Veronica kissing so fast only made their relationship appear as a relationship that is merely about erotic attraction and lust, not love. The reason why Archie hasn't been getting involved with Veronica was that he was tied up with his pedophile of a music teacher Ms. Grundy. After Grundy leaves town, Archie starts dating Valerie while maintaining a flirtatious and belligerent relationship with Veronica on the side. After Valerie breaks up with Archie, Archie is already kissing Veronica again at Jughead’s birthday party and then an episode later, they are suddenly dating. It’s just way too rushed and happened too fast. Archie shouldn’t have jumped into a relationship with Veronica so quickly, especially after what he had undergone with Ms. Grundy. His unethical teacher allegedly raped Archie, and he never dealt with the aftermath of that. He was manipulated and used by a more senior woman and instead of taking time for himself, Archie and Veronica just jumped onto each other as soon as Archie was single. With the way Archie and Veronica got together immediately after Archie broke up with Grundy and then Valerie, it traditionally makes Varchie look like a rebound relationship in addition to Veronica looking like she is promptly taking advantage of a vulnerable Archie. I don’t know, but the direct way that Varchie got together bothers me. By the climactic end of season 1, they are already sleeping together. It merely happened too rapidly. Come season 2, and their relationship is already so stale and boring because of how quickly they got together. I practically feel like the writers merely threw Archie and Veronica together because they did a similar thing with Jughead and Betty. Archie and Veronica got together out of possible convenience, not because it naturally made any proper sense to the specific story or the intricate plot. I reasonably think Varchie may have been slightly better if they assuredly had built up throughout all of season 1 and a considerable part of season 2 and then they invariably start carefully developing a meaningful relationship. I wouldn’t ship them, but I would be more tolerant of their relationship development. The distinct lack of good progress for Varchie is the same complaint that I typically have about Bughead. It’s all too forced and instantly rushed.
Varchie have nothing in common: I’m seriously thinking of one thing that Archie and Veronica have in common with each other? Oh, I can discover one thing. SEX! The sole thing that Archie and Veronica genuinely seem to share in common with each other typically is precisely the critical fact that both of them like consensual sex. Other than that, what else do Archie and Veronica have in common with each other that is more than just sex? The exclusive thing that I can conceive of is undoubtedly their shared love of music, but that’s merely it. They don’t obtain similar goals, values, ideals, or upbringings. Archie is one of the most morally upstanding and noble characters on the show. Veronica, as much as I genuinely love her, is more on the morally ambiguous side. Archie is emotional, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s expressive in how he feels, and he lets people know what’s on his mind. Veronica, on the other, is more unemotional, stoic and possesses a hard time expressing herself. To me, it’s an important personality trait and quality that they don’t provide in common which causes strong incompatibility between the two. Archie was capable of telling Veronica that he sincerely loved her, but Veronica wasn’t able to naturally do the same in return. It’s not merely about the fact that they don’t retain many personality traits in common. They have entirely experienced separate lives. Veronica traditionally grew up living an extraordinary life of considerable wealth and comparative luxury in New York City. Archie grew up living an uncomplicated life in the small town of Riverdale. If Archie were to go back to New York City and acquire a taste of Veronica’s former life including her friends and her lifestyle there, Archie would be a complete fish out of the water. He wouldn’t comprehend what to accomplish with himself. Veronica seems to be out of touch with the small-town life that Archie lives as well. She is typically on the sheltered side because she grew up rich, spoiled and privileged. Let us not forget that their family lives and moral upbringings are so vastly different. Archie grew up in an ethical, noble and upstanding household with two middle-class moral parents in Fred Andrews and Mary Andrews. On the contrary, Veronica grew up in an immoral, criminal family with two wealthy illegal parents in Hiram Lodge and Hermione Lodge. Because of the severe differences in their class backgrounds, I genuinely feel like Archie and Veronica don’t understand where the notable other is typically coming from which instantly adds to the comprehensive list of critical things that they don’t share in common. What I’m saying is the lack of commonality between Varchie has to do with their differing backgrounds and upbringings. I feel like Archie tries to accept Veronica and Veronica seeks to understand Archie. But for some apparent reason, they don’t click or “intimately connect” the way they should. A striking contrast to how many things Archie naturally has in common with Betty, and there is just no possible comparison. Barchie is superior to Varchie in every possible way when it undoubtedly comes to possessing essential things in common and sharing similarities that are crucial for a successful intimate relationship.
Varchie is an extremely toxic relationship: This is likely the biggest reason why I positively hate Varchie. Their relationship is so damn toxic. I typically think their complex relationship is precisely borderline abusive. That’s how toxic it is admittedly. Archie and Veronica’s relationship is so toxic that I genuinely think these two need to separate amicably for good. They aren’t satisfactory for each other. They don’t bring out the best in each other. They don’t beneficially challenge each other. Their relationship regresses their independent characters. Their relationship exercises a bad influence on Archie and his personality. Their relationship is highly codependent and corruptive. And their relationship is just too sexual and dependent on sex to resolve all of their fundamental problems. Archie and Veronica aren’t good for each other. They possess nothing in common with each other; they don’t know how to open up to each other and communicate with each other. They are always keeping secrets from each other and lying to each other non-stop. Archie and Veronica don’t challenge each other for the better. They don’t stop each other from typically going over the edge and acting irrationally. Archie challenges Veronica to become more selfish, self-absorbed and dishonest. And Veronica challenges Archie to become more impulsive, morally corrupt and reckless. Archie and Veronica’s relationship naturally makes their complex characters stagnant and lacking in proper growth and evolvement. Their relationship represents a vicious cycle of repetitiveness that stops Archie and Veronica from growing up. Because of this, their relationship is incredibly toxic and negative. Archie’s unique personality changed for the negative throughout season 2 because of Veronica and her complex family. Archie got involved with Veronica’s family and completely transformed him for the worst. We no longer saw the old Archie. We saw an Archie that was corrupt morally, someone who was concealing secrets and lying constantly, someone who was turning against his family for his girlfriend and her family. Does that sound like the good old Archie Andrews that we know and love? The satisfactory answer is undoubtedly no. Because of Veronica and her wealthy family, Archie lost his moral code. He instantly willingly started doing so many out of character things in the honored name of his passionate love and fierce loyalty to Veronica and her affluent family. Instantly becoming a willing accomplice to murder, keeping Hiram’s hidden agenda a well-kept secret from his longtime friends, turning against his best friend Jughead, the Southside and the Serpents, siding with Hiram over his father Fred and essentially becoming a teenage mobster under Hiram’s negative influence. Promptly, I’m not saying that Archie choosing to associate with the Lodge family is all Veronicas fault because it isn’t. Archie made a conscious decision to voluntarily join the Lodge family business against Veronica’s earnest wishes. But I can’t lie and say that Veronica isn’t at least partially responsible for Archie becoming corrupted because she didn’t try hard to keep him away from her family. There were undoubtedly valuable times when she encouraged Archie to be loyal to her elite family and the morally corrupt things her family was typically doing. She fed into it by convincing Archie and cynically manipulating him to stay loyal to her family and keep their family’s shameful secrets from the concerned rest of Riverdale. Veronica indeed got Archie to knowingly lie for her to Betty and Jughead about the Lodge’s ambitious plans for Riverdale. That is just toxic, toxic, toxic. Archie and Veronica should not be lying for each other. If someone has to lie for someone else in the relationship, then the relationship is toxic, and they should not be together in the first place. All the deliberate lies, constant dishonesty and inviolable secrecy in Varchie’s relationship, especially in season 2, emphasized how wrong they are undoubtedly for each other. Veronica’s family seems to be the reason Archie is so messed up and emotionally cracked in season 3. If Archie never got into a relationship with Veronica and had been loyal to her privileged family, Archie wouldn’t be an emotional mess as he is right now. Archie being completely messed up and broken right now shows that Archie should have under no circumstances been with Veronica in the first place and that it must be something that he hugely regrets. Another apparent reason why Varchie is unhealthy and toxic seems to be because their relationship is too erotic and dependent on sex to resolve all of their complex problems. Archie and Veronica lack the confidence to essentially talk to each other and effectively communicate with each other. They don’t maintain an emotional connection with each other and instead, use physical activity and sex as a coping mechanism. That is merely not something that is healthy. A genuine beneficial relationship between two people involves communication and speaking to each other from the heart. Not just resorting to eagerly taking each other’s clothes off and having sex constantly. Archie and Veronica have issues expressing themselves openly and honestly with each other. That is a significant problem that should be addressed in their relationship. Every episode, Varchie is instantly jumping in bed together. I mean, how many significant times are Varchie inevitably going to have sex every episode? It’s just too much. The reason Archie and Veronica don’t discuss anything is that they don't know what to discuss in the first place. Their relationship is shallow and based on sexual attraction and nothing else. If Varchie were more than just sex, we would witness them communicating as a proper couple should. I equally find Varchie to represent a codependent relationship. Not exclusively is Archie codependent on Veronica but Veronica is codependent on Archie as well. Their relationship is mutually codependent. I feel like Archie uses Veronica and her being accepted by her family as a way to feel loved and accepted because of his low self worth and self-esteem is. And Veronica is with Archie as an active form of youthful rebellion against her overbearing parents, as a form of escapism from her toxic, dysfunctional upbringing and unsuitable environment. A big part of me thinks Veronica is dating Archie to piss her father off and make him jealous. Let’s not forget that in season 2, Archie seemed to care more about earning and gaining Hiram Lodge’s enthusiastic approval than about being traditionally a steady, decent boyfriend to Veronica. Archie being Hiram’s loyal lapdog and lackey overtook his relationship with Veronica. It looked like Archie was in a relationship with Hiram instead of Veronica. Does that seem like a healthy relationship to you? The direct answer is precise no. Also, Archie’s relationship with Veronica and his loyalty to her family caused Archie to have tension-filled relationships with all of his family and friends. Because of Archie’s toxic relationship with Veronica, his relationships with his father Fred, mother Mary and his most beloved friends Jughead and Betty became severely strained. Archie’s relationship with Veronica caused Archie to become seriously isolated from everyone, and that is not a pleasant thing at all. The way I identify it, Archie and Veronica are better off apart. They aren’t good together, and they aren’t good for each other. Their relationship is toxic, destructive and borderline emotionally abusive. These two are incompatible and genuinely need to stay far away from each other. I sincerely hope the contributing writers don’t indeed try to instantly think of resolutely putting Archie and Veronica back together because the fact of the practical matter is undoubted, Varchie’s relationship is incredibly poisonous and toxic and it merely doesn’t work.
Archie + Veronica bring out the WORST in each other: These two don’t wield an effective or beneficial influence on each other. They bring out the worst in each other, and that’s just the truth. They ate a very poisonous and toxic influence on each other, and that is why their relationship is so incredibly problematic. Archie influences Veronica to act stupid, irresponsible, airhead-like and flighty. Veronica is typically a brilliant, manipulative, intelligent and cunning person in her own right and she is undoubtedly an eminently capable girl. However, for some reason, Archie has a habit of making her come across as stupid, illogical, unintelligent, and dumbing her down. Archie equally makes Veronica come across as a manipulative and controlling person. Archie genuinely seems to allow Veronica to control him and walk all over him typically. I cordially hate how Archie seems to allow Veronica to treat him as her loyal, submissive lapdog invariably. Veronica should be with someone who will challenge her. Veronica seems to have serious control issues, and she likes to be in control of everything around her. Archie genuinely seems to allow Veronica to take the leading reins naturally merely, and he doesn’t challenge her that much like she dearly needs to be promptly challenged. A beneficial relationship is about a balance between the two people. There naturally has to be traditionally an equal power balance in the relationship. Otherwise, it’s precisely just one obstinate person typically dominating the relationship while the other is just submitting to the person who is in direct control. And that is a recipe for a destructive relationship. Other than the power dynamics issues that I have with Varchie, Archie and Veronica don’t exert a beneficial influence when it comes to keeping each other’s moral compass in check. Archie doesn’t produce a favorable effect on Veronica about keeping her immorality and her tendency to slide to the sinister side of things at bay. He seems to be accepting of Veronica's morally ambiguous side and her performing shady activity. He doesn’t proclaim her out when she does something that’s necessarily morally right. He merely enables her bad girl side and doesn’t challenge her to do better. For example, when Veronica was getting so tied up in her family’s crooked and criminal business throughout season 2, Archie fell into the shady, criminal business himself instead of trying to prevent Veronica from falling into her shady parents' trap. Archie, like a genuine hero and good boyfriend, would do if it were their girlfriend that they are seeking to protect from harm or danger, didn’t prevent Veronica or shelter her from Hiram’s abuse, controlling behavior and manipulations. He didn’t prevent her from falling in extremely deep with her family like his initial intentions were for associating with the Lodge family. On the other hand, Veronica and her family have an overwhelmingly negative effect on Archie. Because of Veronica and her corrupt family influence, Archie changed for the negative. He undoubtedly lost the moral person that he consistently has been and the person who would always stand up for what was right. Veronica eagerly told Hiram that she didn’t want Archie compromised by being involved in the distinguished family, but she didn’t accomplish anything to halt him from getting overly sufficiently involved. She just let Archie slide further and farther to the dark side, which resulted in not only a negative change in his personality and attitude but also causing him to have strained relationships with everyone that he loves. Veronica and her family pretty much isolated Archie from everyone else. Do you not realize how toxic and poisonous of a personal relationship that is? Veronica may be directly responsible for isolating Archie from everyone and turning him dark, but she is indirectly responsible because it’s her family. Veronica is too “dark” for Archie and Archie is too “light” for Veronica. Archie doesn’t fit in Veronica’s world, and his personality isn’t compatible with hers. That’s why Veronica brings out the worst in Archie. And Veronica doesn’t fit in Archie’s moral world. She can’t comprehend his world because it’s completely dissimilar from the one she grew up. Veronica has lived much life for one so young while Archie hasn’t. Let’s not forget that Archie and Veronica are knowingly causing each other to lie at ease to their mutual friends and family. Veronica pretty much got Archie to lie comfortably to Jughead and Betty about what the wealthy Lodge family were meticulously planning on willingly doing to the Southside. Veronica did manipulate Archie somewhat in getting Archie to prefer her and be loyal to her and her family over Archie’s other friends and his family. Veronica also tried getting Archie to swear to secrecy and never tell anyone about what the Lodges were planning, even though what her family was planning could have a very negative effect on so many people’s lives. That is just so inappropriate. A healthy relationship doesn’t require you to willingly lie to others and suppress deep secrets that are undoubted of a critical nature and could potentially hurt many other people. Aside from the fact that Archie and Veronica bring out each other’s corrupt sides and cause each other to lie and preserve secrets from other people, they additionally produce a very hedonistic effect on each other. Veronica possesses a habit of bringing out the overly sensual and lustful side out of Archie. It seems that Archie acquires a habit of bringing out the overly lustful side of Veronica. Their unfortunate relationship is just way too lustful and sexual overall, and that is undoubtedly something that is negative for both of the characters because it traditionally makes them look shallow. There’s nothing wrong with having a monogamous relationship that involves a healthy sex life but Archie and Veronica are always sleeping with each other at the most inappropriate time and places. It’s like they don’t do anything else or don’t know how to do anything else tastefully. Along with bringing out the lustful side of Veronica, Archie brings out spades of the traditional Veronica. The Veronica who was a wretched girl and a bitch back in New York City. Their relationship brings out the worst in Archie and Veronica because it causes them to come across as so incredibly shallow and vapid. When it comes to Veronica, she lacks any sense of intelligence and a conventional sense that she’s supposed to have. Veronica willingly does so much illogical and stupid stuff in the specific name of Archie. She loses so many IQ points and brain cells every time she is with him and any time she is involved with anything about him. Archie isn’t the cleverest tool in the shed, but it’s like Veronica dumbs him down and causes him to look even more foolish and reckless than he already is. Nearly all of Archie’s stupid, illogical and careless mistakes throughout season 2 involved Veronica or her prominent family. These two are no good for each other, and they bring out the absolute worst in each other. They don’t have a healthy and beneficial influence on each other. Their complex relationship has intentionally caused their beloved characters to become stagnant and regress severely. As soon as Varchie start to grow apart, we ultimately see Archie and Veronica sufficiently develop some positive character evolvement and organic growth. It reveals that Archie and Veronica are much better off apart and their relationship should be scrapped.
Varchie lacks a meaningful connection:  Varchie’s relationship is way too shallow for my genuine liking. I’m moreover into loving couples that aren’t a simply sexual or physical attraction. Varchie naturally lacks the deep connection and congenial companionship that is necessary for a healthy thriving romance. Indeed, when they initially met, it was evident that Archie and Veronica’s attraction to each other is sexual. It’s like they nevertheless don’t undoubtedly appreciate anything about each other because it seems that the sole thing they know about each other is each other’s genitals. Archie and Veronica have sex more often than they know and recognize each other’s personalities and that is merely not a pleasing thing for their relationship. I can understand that Archie and Veronica found each other physically attractive at first and that is something that initially forged them to each other in the first place. But after the physical attraction passed, I expected Archie and Veronica to develop a considerably deeper bond and a relationship than just kissing and complementing each other’s looks. Varchie is most definitely shallow in direct comparison to Barchie. Barchie represents an unusually deep and soulful relationship. You can instantly tell that whatever feelings are there between Archie and Betty, it is way more than just physical or sexual. There’s precisely a soul connection between Archie and Betty. The tender feelings between Archie and Betty go so deep that it is deeply hidden within both of their hearts and it’s become an unspoken connection. Archie and Betty typically have that deep sense of essential kinship and delightful companionship that Varchie traditionally lacks. Putting Varchie next to Barchie is undoubtedly not an appropriate thing when it merely comes to critically comparing them with excessive regard to a deep connection because Barchie merely puts Varchie to absolute shame. I know for a fact that Betty’s feelings for Archie had nothing to do with his aesthetic appearance or his looks because according to Kevin, Archie wasn’t even attractive or hot before the summer of their sophomore year. He was a skinny, awkward, gangly, nerd who probably had issues capturing the constant attention of the opposite sex. But yet, Betty was still in unconditional love with him. Betty loved Archie before he got hot and progressively became a chick magnet. She genuinely loved him when he was ordinarily that awkward nerd and before he respectively became the hot school prince. That is how I know that unlike Veronica, Betty doesn’t merely love Archie for his appearance. She loves him for whom he is which includes his engaging personality and his gentle soul. Veronica merely seems to like Archie’s external appearance. Affirmative, she generates specific comments about the key fact that he is undoubtedly a nice guy, but she is attracted to his abs, and his charming looks than anything else and that is traditionally a shallow reason to love or like someone. I don’t think Veronica properly understands Archie at a deeper level. She doesn’t get him, and that’s okay. Veronica and Archie indeed don’t connect at that deep level, and it’s not undoubtedly Archie and Veronica’s fault. It’s just the personal way their relationship is. Some people connect on a deeper level, and some people don't. Some people understand someone deeply, and others don’t. Betty understands Archie on a deep level; Veronica does not. Every significant time that I observe Archie and Veronica attempt to have a deep and emotional conversation, it just falls flat. I don’t feel the emotional connection and affectionate intimacy in their relationship. On the other hand, every unique time that Archie and Betty share a scene or facilitate a dialogue together, I can sense and feel the emotional chemistry between them. I can consider the depth of their relationship. It’s in their eyes and their expressions when they converse with each other and even look at each other. I don’t perceive why Varchie appears as a relationship that is typically lacking the deep emotional bond and connection needed to entice me in, but I genuinely think it comes down to KJ and Camila not having any on-screen chemistry. On-screen chemistry is more than just about physical chemistry and giving each other bedroom eyes or checking each other out. That’s an essential part of good chemistry, but that’s not all of it. Real on-screen chemistry is whether two actors/personal characters naturally mesh well together. Everything flows, and it’s genuine. The engaging dialogue, the unmistakable looks and the comprehensive glances between the two principal actors give away whether or not two actors or principal characters have great on-screen chemistry. It’s also what feeds into two characters in an intimate relationship having that deep emotional connection. KJ and Camila, as Archie and Veronica, consistently fail to provide that deep emotional chemistry on-screen adequately. It’s not that KJ and Camila are bad actors and it’s undoubtedly not their specific fault. Actors either have great chemistry, or they don’t, and unfortunately, KJ and Camila don’t. I accurately compare KJ’s emotional chemistry with Lili with Camila, and it’s undoubtedly like night and day. KJ’s emotional and palpable chemistry with Lili is so much more superior than with Camila. KJ and Lili mesh well together on-screen. They are just more natural with each other in key scenes of an emotional and intimate nature. It is what it comes down to, and I think why Varchie lacks that deep emotional connection. It’s not the writers don’t attempt at giving Varchie emotionally intimate and deep scenes, it’s just that the two actors and characters can’t deliver these scenes very well because they don’t have the chemistry to pull it off and make it believable. Any deep emotional and intimate scenes that Varchie has valiantly attempted to produce end up falling flat for me. Varchie merely doesn’t have that emotional bond and meaningful connection that Barchie constructs and I just don’t “experience” it when they are together. For all one knows it’s executed deliberately by the writers. It is possible the contributing writers are explicitly writing Varchie to represent a shallow relationship that naturally lacks a deeper bond and genuine connection because they genuinely want to subtly inform the intended audience that Barchie represents the meaningful relationship to support. To instantly add, indeed when Varchie does experience an emotional scene, it inevitably ends with them having sex or being typically in bed together. They can't just have one simple conversation about their relationship without them sleeping with each other. It always leads to sex, and that’s the biggest problem I have with this relationship and why it just doesn’t work for me.Â
The Varchie fans are annoying: Right away, I’m not going to say that Varchie fans are more annoying than Bughead fans because then I would be lying. But it doesn’t alter the fact that they are annoying. I positively hate the negative way Varchie fans act on social media. They act spoiled, entitled and bratty. When devoted Varchie fans don’t get their way, or when someone says they don’t like their ship, their first instinct is undoubtedly to lash out and bash other ships. Like, I’m sorry that Varchie is typically not a well-liked ship in the fandom and they continuously get shit on more than other couples, but that doesn’t grant them the fundamental right to bully and allegedly harass other innocent people just because they don’t like their ship. Lately, I’ve been noticing Varchie fans have been spamming up the comment sections of Jeronica and Veggie posts on IG or Twitter with #SaveVarchie. Do you all not realize how annoying that is? If Varchie fans don’t like a couple, then ignore the created post. Don’t spam up the post about another couple just because you don’t like it and act annoying because of it. What’s funny is some of these Varchie fans say they dislike Bughead and hate the way Bughead fans operate. But at the same time, they act just as ignorant, petty and foolish as they do. To me, passionate Varchie fans are almost as annoying and irritating as Bughead fans. But then again, I’m not surprised this traditionally is the case since many Varchie fans also ship Bughead. So, of course, they are a nuisance within the fandom. Varchie fans also take it as a huge insult when people justly criticize the critical aspects of their toxic and unhealthy ship. Many people that comment about how Varchie is toxic and based on sex are merely telling the truth and delivering legitimate criticisms about the couple. But Varchie fans always take it so damn personally. Varchie fans have dared to suggest the plausible argument that Veggie is canon on the show because Charles Melton and Camila Mendes are conventionally dating in real life? Um, excuse me? Graciously according to Camila herself, she recently squashed that elaborate theory on her Twitter to an ignorant Varchie fan who was saying that Veggie is only happening because of Charmila. Veggie was already being written as a possible romantic contender in season 3 before Camila and Charles were even dating. Varchie fans will invent any convenient excuse in the used book for their ship. There are also some Varchie fans that can’t seem to separate imaginative fiction from fundamental reality. There are precisely some Varchie fans that ship KJ Apa and Camila Mendes in real life and genuinely believe that they were dating or have dated in the forgotten past. Um, newsflash? KJ and Camila have never dated, and they don’t have a romantic history. They are friends and costars, that’s it. Camila has never expressed any romantic interest in KJ, and these are just the facts. Some of these Varchie fans are just like Sprousehart fans; they can’t seem to typically separate fiction from reality. Varchie is undoubtedly fiction; Charmila represents reality. KJMILA IS NOT REAL, VARCHIE FANS! It never has been but won't be. I'm genuinely shocked that some of these Varchie fans even ship KJ and Camila in real life since they don’t also have any on-screen chemistry, to begin. I’m sure they are good friends and enjoy each other’s company, but come on. They don’t have any romantic chemistry whatsoever, and I possess no possible clue what entices these Varchie fans to sincerely believe that KJ and Camila undoubtedly have any romantic interest in each other as well as romantic history together. When it comes down to it, Varchie fans can be just as crazy, unstable and deluded as the Bughead/Sprousehart fans. They aren’t any better than them.Â
Archie acts stupidly and impulsively because of Veronica: I have observed a consistent pattern with Varchie’s relationship, and that is whenever Archie is with Veronica, he performs irresponsible and reckless decisions that don’t benefit him whatsoever. His most fatal mistake so far is being adamant about eagerly joining Veronica’s influential family and getting involved in the crime world. Veronica tried to forewarn him about the possible trouble that would come for Archie if he associated with her family and was in on their family secrets. But because he was so desperate to be with Veronica and support her, he didn’t listen to her warnings. Associating with the wealthy Lodge family and willingly allowed himself to be manipulated and intentionally used by Hiram Lodge turned out to be undoubtedly Archie’s ghastliest mistake in his life. With Veronica, Archie merely doesn’t think. He loses any sense of logic and reason. Veronica possesses a habit of bringing out a reckless and impulsive Archie. Veronica consistently fails to stop Archie from executing decisions that could hinder him in the sustained run and cause him nothing but trouble. Because of Veronica and her elite family. Archie ended up suffering unnecessary pain. He got too wrapped up in Veronica and her family, and he didn’t see how toxic both of them were for him and his mental health. Being with Veronica hasn’t helped Archie to understand his apparent recklessness correctly. A prime example of Veronica unable to stop Archie from acting reckless was when Archie was illegally taking drugs and buying weapons. Veronica cursed Archie out for obtaining an illegal weapon to seize down the Black Hood and defend his distressed father, but her harsh words and her ranting to him didn’t have that healthy of an effect on him and didn't convince him to give up his revenge quest reluctantly. Veronica didn’t stop Archie and the Bull Dogs from fighting with the Serpents in the copious rain and willingly having a bloody all-out brawl. She encouraged Archie to grapple with the Serpents by persuading them to resolve it. She didn’t diffuse Archie from going through with it or prevent the fight entirely. The only time when Veronica stepped in was when the fierce battle between the Serpents and the Bull Dogs became so violent that Archie and the Bull Dogs were invariably in imminent danger of being severely hurt by the Serpents because the Serpents were battering them in the fight. Veronica willingly allowed Archie to throw himself into a violent conflict because she didn’t have any profound influence over Archie's reckless and impulsive side. Archie also acted impulsively and stupidly where his other loved ones other than Veronica were genuinely concerned. He was perfectly suitable with lying to his other friends, people like Jughead and Betty, just so that he could keep Veronica and her family’s secrets about their plans for the Southside (Which was nothing good at all?). Because Veronica fed into Archie’s incredible stupidity, Archie promptly ended up progressively losing everything that mattered to him including his lifelong friendships, his established family and his excellent reputation. Veronica exerts the worst influence on Archie and Veronica makes him act more stupidly and recklessly than usual. Archie is at present an impulsive and reckless person as it is precisely and he shouldn't be with someone who will do nothing but enable those horrible personality traits of his. Archie needs someone to temper and downplays those traits, and to me, the solitary people that can achieve that for Archie are Betty and sometimes Jughead. I don’t know, but anytime Veronica is involved, Archie merely loses his brain cells and acts illogically, and it causes him to become incredibly annoying and not someone that is worthy of support.
Archie loses his morality/moral code/moral compass because of Veronica: Veronica brings out Archie’s dark and immoral side. It’s shocking how Archie progressively became such a wicked character in season 2 because of Veronica and her corrosive criminal family. Archie is recognized to represent the noblest kind, caring, empathetic, and compassionate person on the show. He’s the shows de facto hero. But in season 2, Archie squandered all of those excellent qualities that traditionally made him such a fantastic person. He lost his sense of morality, and his moral code is broken. He was typically conducting all specific kinds of illegal activity and morally ambiguous things all in the name of his fierce loyalty to Veronica and her corrupt criminal family. He cared more about being loyal to Veronica and Hiram Lodge than about being loyal to his father, Fred. He cared more about doing precisely what Hiram Lodge wanted over being a beloved, sympathetic friend to Betty and Jughead. He cared more about being loyal to Veronica and her family than accomplishing what was right in his heart. He cared more about being Hiram’s loyal lackey than standing up for himself and not letting Hiram eagerly take advantage of him and dominate him and carefully manipulate him for his gain and benefit. Archie intentionally chose Hiram, Veronica, and the Lodge family over his father! I mean, seriously? Archie seriously crossed a line there. Who voluntarily chooses a swindler over their father who has been there for him and generously supported him for his entire life? How about the fact that Archie’s loyalty to Veronica and her family caused him to become an accomplice to a murder that he witnessed, and at the same time, Archie didn’t do the right thing and report the crime to the authorities? How about turning against the Southside and his dearest friend Jughead by advocating for the Southside to become a for-profit prison? Or Archie staunchly supporting all of Hiram’s illegal and criminal ideas for Riverdale and not producing a damn thing to prevent it from happening organically? When Archie is with Veronica, he instantly loses his ideal morality and his moral sense of what is right and wrong. His moral code becomes piously blurred, and for me, as someone who has been undoubtedly a longtime fan of Archie Comics since my typical childhood, it’s merely something that I find so unsettling. Archie isn't supposed to be an immoral character who does shitty things. Archie is undoubtedly considered Mr. Noble and kind Mr. Heroic. He represents a moral person. Veronica and her authoritative family nearly turned this once noble and good character into someone that was undoubtedly veering into villain territory. That’s how bad of a considerable influence Veronica and her family have on Archie and his objective morality. It’s sickening, and Archie needs to stay far away from Veronica and her family because, for some reason, Archie cannot handle Veronica and her family’s criminal underworld without being an immoral, corrupt criminal jackass that regularly secures himself in illegal situations. Archie has promptly become a teenage delinquent and potential criminal all because of his complicated relationship with Veronica. Just awful.Â
Archie is too unintelligent for Veronica: Veronica is recognized to be somewhat intelligent, cunning and manipulative. She’s undoubtedly a smart girl when she puts her brilliant mind to something. Unfortunately, Archie fails spectacularly to match Veronica’s sly wit and superior intelligence accurately. Archie is merely not the brightest tool in the shed at all. For some unknown reason, Veronica makes Archie appear less intelligent than usual. Veronica requires someone that will precisely match her intellectual and cunning capabilities. She needs an intellectual challenger, and I don’t believe that Archie is that person. I know Archie can be smart in other useful ways, but he’s typically not an intellectual type of guy. He’s not as well read and cultured as Veronica is invariably and that naturally makes Archie look like an uncultured peasant next to Veronica. Much of Veronica looking more intelligent than Archie is because of the cultural differences in their academic backgrounds and privileged upbringing. Veronica has likely received a very high-end education since childhood. She has most likely been exposed to classic literature and historical films and elite media since she was undoubtedly a precocious child due to her wealthy and privileged upbringing. Veronica is extremely knowledgeable about a broad variety of things including politics, music, culture, media, pop culture, literature. I don’t think Archie matches Veronica in any of those specific areas in particular regards to extensive knowledge or proper understanding of those controversial topics. I wager you any money that if Veronica were to attempt to have a conversation about any of those topics, Archie would likely be sitting in front of her wholly dumbfounded and blank-faced because he wouldn’t provide a clue about what she is discussing. I don’t think Archie naturally has the same appreciation for current events and modern culture the direct way that Ronnie typically does. And that is why in specific regards to intellectual pursuits, Veronica and Archie are seriously incompatible. Now, it’s not either Archie and Veronica’s fault for not being a worthy ideal intellectually matched complementary pair. It’s merely the direct result of their different social statuses, academic backgrounds, and economic upbringings. Archie can’t help that he is working class and somewhat sheltered from a miniature town in Riverdale just as much as Veronica can’t help that she is pampered, privileged and wealthy from the mighty city of New York City. Their intellectual abilities are a result of their different statuses in society, and that’s just the way it is. But Veronica does seriously need to be with someone who is more knowledgable about a variety of diverse topics and subjects. She needs someone who will intellectually stimulate her. Veronica needs someone who can outwit, outsmart, and out manipulate her at times. She needs someone to challenge her intellectually, and I think that Archie doesn’t provide that for Veronica. I find that Archie makes Veronica less intelligent and intellectual than she is. Not only does she execute irresponsible and careless decisions with Archie but she doesn’t get the chance to prominently display or show just how smart and cunning she genuinely is. Archie dumbs Veronica down, and that’s only the truth. Aside from Archie not matching Veronica’s considerable intelligence and intellectual abilities, Archie is much too trusting, gullible and naive for Veronica. Because of his naivety, Archie ends up pulling himself into absolutely dreadful situations constantly. It was precisely Archie’s benign and trusting nature that undoubtedly caused him to trust Hiram Lodge and become morally corrupted by him. Hiram eagerly took advantage of Archie because he not only saw a traumatized and psychologically vulnerable adolescent boy that he could manage and warp to his benefit, but he equally saw someone that was so blindly optimistic and naive. Archie's naivety is overwhelmingly a harmful thing for Veronica because due to Archie’s gullible and unsuspecting personality, Veronica gets forcibly pulled into all of the dire troubles that he manages himself into through being his girlfriend.Â
Archie becomes unlikeable + OOC with Veronica: Since being with Veronica, Archie has gradually become a very unlikeable character. He doesn’t act like the happy go lucky, kind, caring, and noble person that he was undoubtedly at the official start of the series. Veronica and her family have managed to turn this exceptional character into a caricature and shadow of his former self. He has become morally corrupted by the prominent Lodge family, and because of that, his unique personality has severely changed for the worst. I dearly miss the Archie from season 1. That Archie was accurately kind, caring, and compassionate. The Archie that was selfless and understanding of other innocent people’s personal feelings. Archie always cared about doing the right and noble thing and had a stable moral code, despite his flaws and occasional mistakes. His relationship with Veronica has managed to eliminate all of those characteristics in Archie and turn his character into someone that isn’t the hero of the show and is alternatively, someone incredibly unlikeable and out of character. Veronica and her family have had an extremely negative impact and influence on Archie’s character development and his journey on this show. He undoubtedly does some very out of character things because of his complicated relationship with Veronica. In season 2, Archie crossed such a dark path that I was afraid that the contributing writers and the show were voluntarily going to portray Archie as a complex villain convincingly. He was traditionally doing all practical sorts of illegal and criminal activity in the name of his passionate loyalty to Veronica and Hiram Lodge. But it wasn’t just the criminal activity that Archie was involved in that made him act entirely out of moral character. It was Archie turning against the people who have cherished him, supported him and been there for him through everything. People like his father Fred, his mother Mary, his best friend, Jughead and his other best friend, Betty. He instantly turned against all of these notable people because he desperately wanted to prove his loyalty and himself to Hiram Lodge. And examine what Archie’s devotion to Veronica and her family got him. He assuredly lost his faithful friends, his prominent family, his moral dignity, his sanity, and his impeccable reputation. Outside of the show, he lost many fans support because of his poor, terrible behavior, actions, and decisions. Everybody started disliking or hating Archie in season 2, and honestly, I can’t say I blame people for making negative comments about Archie’s character development because the way that he was acting and behaving in season 2 just wasn’t him. And much of that negative change in his engaging personality and moral character had a lot to do with his relationship with Veronica. Veronica and her wealthy family weren't right for Archie, period. That’s all there is to it. Archie is naive and gullible. He’s typically the specific type of person that can be easily corrupted and manipulated by others and taken advantage of in the continuous process. That is precisely what Hiram Lodge did remarkably. He promptly took advantage of a vulnerable and weakened Archie and warped him into a caricature and elusive shadow of his former self. Archie is typically not an immoral criminal who usually conducts illegal activity and acts overly impulsive, aggressive and rash. That is not who Archie Andrews is naturally. On top of the fact that Veronica and her family have morally corrupted Archie and practically shifted him into a villain, Archie lost his sanity. He became wracked with mental illness and profound trauma that he has yet to deal with properly. Hiram messed up Archie mentally and has a hard time recovering. Archie is such a mess that he resorted to drinking to help alleviate his pain and combat his problems. It is just toxic and unhealthy. It is precisely why I bitterly hate Varchie, and this is why Varchie is seriously extremely toxic and problematic. The fundamental change in Archie’s distinctive character and the adverse effect that this unstable relationship undoubtedly has on Archie is precisely the most substantial reason why I genuinely think this ship needs to crash and burn fiercely and fast intentionally.
Varchie is poorly written + has bad dialogue: Out of all the prominent couples on the show, Varchie remains the couple always saddled with horrible dialogue and cringe-worthy writing. The fact that the writers refuse to produce sound, decent dialogue and solid scenes for this couple show that the writers don’t give a shit about their portrayal. They know Varchie is the couple that gets the most criticism for how badly they are written and cringeworthy their scenes and dialogue are, but the writers don’t care. The contributing writers are incredibly careless with certain regards to Varchie and the specific content of their relationship. I genuinely feel that that the writers don’t comprehend what to achieve with Varchie because they undoubtedly have some strange favoritism towards Bughead and it convincingly shows. Varchie doesn’t have any profound, touching or emotional scenes like the other couples typically do. Indeed, when they do receive some emotional scene, it just falls flat and fails to persuade the audience. Other than that, the notable writers are habitually having Varchie have explicit sex scenes. They don't compose anything of essential substance for Varchie. It's merely fighting, break up, get back together, and then sleep together and repeat that cycle 10x over each season. I keep hoping that there would be some better treatment for this couple every season, so I don’t have to skip through their scenes all the time. But nope, each season, Varchie gets worse and becomes more and more cringeworthy. One of the most significant executive writing errors that the prominent Riverdale writers undoubtedly made last season was unwittingly making Archie and Veronica more and more criminal. RAS and the writers almost turned Archie and Veronica into teen villains because of the specific way that they were constructively engaged and intimately involved in the elite Lodge family and their criminal plans. Archie turned into a teenage mobster and Veronica was subtly manipulating Archie into being loyal to her corrupt family, preserving her corrupt family’s evil and illegal business plans a terrible secret from all of her personal friends, and mainly working for her overbearing parents to assist and transport these nefarious plans throughout Riverdale. Veronica turned into a Mafia Princess that was okay with destroying other people’s personal lives. What merely happened to Veronica that was so against her criminal family and their criminal legacy? It’s like all that character development went straight out the window. The writers didn’t mind how Varchie would be adequately portrayed and typically perceived by the fandom. Otherwise, they would have required more proper care in how they purportedly wrote Varchie and their relationship in season 2. The writers of Riverdale do not care about Varchie, and it’s blatantly apparent. The only couple that they care about catering to and typically giving semi-decent dialogue and intriguing storylines is undoubtedly Bughead, and unfortunately, it’s naturally at the considerable expense of the other “main couple” of the show.Â
Veronica acts too controlling + manipulative towards Archie: I’m instantly going, to be honest, and merely say that part of the critical reason I bitterly hate Varchie is because I don’t appreciate how Veronica unwittingly becomes this manipulative, cunning and controlling person around Archie. I love Veronica, and she’s one of my favorite characters in the series, but she is so bitchy and manipulative when she is with Archie. I detect visible traces of the old mean girl Veronica from New York City come out whenever she typically interacts with Archie. There’s no doubt that Veronica would try to manipulate and control Archie when it came to expressing loyalty to her family and preserving all of their dark family secrets. Archie even called out Veronica in a season 2 episode for trying to manipulate him and his father into running for Mayor of Riverdale because it was what her family desired. And Veronica didn’t seem to realize she was manipulating Archie into convincing his father Fred to run. Archie undoubtedly had to call her out on her irrational behavior appropriately. That was a moment when I didn’t enjoy Veronica. I equally feel like Veronica asserts too much control over Archie. She sometimes talks down to him and handles him as her subordinate. It was way worse in the comics, but there are traces of controlling and domineering Veronica on the show, and I don’t appreciate that attitude. For a prime example, when the Core Four were going to the Lodge Lodge at Shadow Lake for a weekend vacation, Veronica unjustly treated Archie as her caretaker. She ordered him to grab her heavy and excessive luggage (being a high-maintenance rich girl and all). I found her unlikeable for doing that. Archie is not Veronica’s lap dog. It’s not his official responsibility to take care of her needs or cater to her at every personal whim. It’s precisely critical things like this that cause me to genuinely feel that Archie and Veronica’s relationship with him makes Veronica act very controlling and annoying.Â
Varchie have a serious power imbalance (Veronica is too dominant + Archie is too submissive): This is an extension of the previous point. There is undoubtedly a severe lack of power balance in Varchie’s relationship. Veronica has more control and dominance in the relationship and Archie is too weak and submissive in the relationship. It traditionally makes the relationship imbalanced and unhealthy. Veronica at present possesses a degree of power over Archie as it is because she is wealthy and of privilege and superior status. Therefore, in the money factor, Veronica maintains power over him. But it’s not just about Veronica coming from wealth and status and Archie coming from a working-class financially struggling background that makes Veronica and Archie’s relationship severely imbalanced. It’s typically the fundamental dynamic of their relationship. As I said, Veronica is voluntarily controlling towards Archie, and I genuinely feel like she resorts to intentionally using direct manipulation and her aggressive sexuality to dominate and control Archie typically. I’m not a fan of that specific quality in Veronica. I don’t feel that Veronica always respects Archie and his valuable input and expressed opinions. I genuinely feel like she wants to be the inclined one in effective control of the relationship without caring about what Archie wants and properly respecting what he desires. A beneficial relationship is about respect, mutual trust, and understanding. Veronica has control issues, and she likes to be in control of everything around her, and it’s a negative trait that Veronica possesses. Veronica has instantly got to tone down her essential need for control, but I feel like since Archie is so weak and submissive towards her, he doesn’t stand up to her as much as he should. Archie doesn’t challenge Veronica the proper way she dearly needs to be promptly challenged. Veronica, as much as I love her, has many negative personality traits that can be considered intolerable and annoying to other people. And I don’t feel that Archie tempers those negative traits that Veronica naturally has. He undoubtedly enhances them because he appears prominently to conspicuously lack a reasonable degree of considerable power in the relationship. I’m not asking for Archie to assume absolute dominance over Veronica and for him to be the one in control of Veronica and the relationship. What I would appreciate seeing is a mutual amount of power in the bond where Archie and Veronica share the power and where they typically alternate taking control or willingly taking on the dominant role/lead in specific situations. Because right now, especially since season 2 onwards, I feel like it’s Veronica and her family that assert absolute control over Archie. That is a toxic and destructive relationship. When there is such a severe power imbalance in an intimate relationship, it’s a recipe for an abusive relationship. One person who has control and established dominance in the connection will invariably end up exploiting their controlling power and typically treating the other person who is weaker, more submissive, and more laid back in nature, like absolute crap. Veronica asserts too much control over Archie and Archie allows Veronica to have too much negative control over him. Veronica needs to tone down her need to control Archie and everything around her. Archie needs to learn how to take control more often, be less submissive and stand up to Veronica and other people who take advantage of him or try to utilize him, dominate him and manipulate him. Woefully, I don’t think they are going to achieve this together. It is something that they can only deliver on their own and when they aren’t together in a relationship. It is precisely a key reason why Varchie does not work as a healthy, functioning relationship. They don’t have a healthy balance in their relationship, and that’s one of the many reasons why their relationship is so toxic.Â
Varchie are an unhappy + miserable couple: Archie and Veronica shouldn't be together because they constantly make each other miserable and unhappy. Since season 2, their relationship has become completely toxic and destructive for both of them. They are so much better off and happier when they are separate and season 3 has proven that. Veronica got Archie dragged into her shady family business, and it resulted in Archie being corrupted and cynically manipulated. Once Archie realized that he was intentionally turning into Hiram’s little criminal and experienced a personal epiphany regarding all the dreadful things he was undoubtedly doing in the name of his questionable loyalty to Veronica and her prominent family, Archie lost his mental stability and sanity. Being with Veronica has done nothing but invariably bring Archie endless drama and considerable pain and suffering. Archie has a terrible relationship with Veronica’s father Hiram, and this is where all the problems stemmed. Hiram hated that Veronica had a lot of love and steadfast loyalty to Archie and because Veronica is undoubtedly the rosy apple of Hiram’s shrewd eye and his little Mija, he couldn’t handle anyone else taking over and being overwhelmingly #1 to Veronica. Therefore Hiram naturally took every legitimate chance and every opportunity to destroy Archie’s personal life intentionally and by direct extension, his daughter’s life. Because he couldn’t stand to see his daughter happy and he couldn’t stand seeing someone else make his daughter happy other than him. Some dedicated Varchie fans would typically try to argue that it wasn’t Veronica that made Archie so miserable and succinctly put him through endless suffering and that it was undoubtedly Hiram. But the thing is, Veronica is part of the Lodge family. Anyone that gets romantically involved with Veronica, no matter who it is, is instantly in the line of fire. Archie just happened to represent the most unfortunate victim of circumstance because he’s so easily influenced, manipulated and naive. It didn’t help that Archie was already suffering from debilitating mental illness, profound trauma and PTSD by the considerable time Hiram instantly got his infectious hooks into him and morally corrupted him. Since being with Veronica, Archie has become more violent, aggressive, isolated, closed off, secretive, immoral, and reckless. He’s displaced the Archie that he used to be in season 1. He hardly smiles anymore, and it’s now considered to be a rare occurrence when Archie smiles or shows any hints or signs of happiness. That is just so depressing. Through his relationship with Veronica, Archie ended up becoming a hardened shell of his former self. He became self-destructive and turned to substances to help cope with his pain and suffering because Veronica simply wasn’t enough to help him cope. Archie instantly became a drug-addicted, pill-popping, alcoholic, teenage vigilante who conducted criminal activity and was on his way to becoming a teenage delinquent and mobster working for a crooked drug lord and crime boss. That is precisely what Veronica and her notorious family have done offensively to Archie. This negative relationship with Veronica has progressively changed Archie for the worst and has naturally caused him to become so depressed, anxious and ridden with countless tons of incredible pain, suffering, apparent trauma and established guilt. It’s so depressing to genuinely see the accurate comparison of who Archie was in contrast in season 1 to who Archie inevitably became in season 2 to the tragic aftermath of who Archie is presently in season 3. But it’s not merely Archie that has been detrimentally affected by this toxic relationship. Veronica has equally been affected as adversely. Since being with Archie, Veronica has had to willingly endure countless tons of unnecessary pain and complex drama in her personal life. Her father has naturally made it his prime number one ultimate goal to ruin her complex relationship with Archie and deter them apart. Veronica has consistently been a major Daddy’s Girl, and her personality is defined by the relationship she had with her father as this is seen in season 1. Her father somehow influences everything that Veronica does, and that is not a good thing. Veronica constantly goes back to Hiram, despite how terrible he is and how badly he handles her (and her faithful mother Hermione by logical extension) because Veronica is starving for constant attention and genuine affection from Hiram and because she desperately craves Hiram’s official approval. The adversarial relationship with her wealthy father has severely affected her relationship with Archie, and she has recognized herself undoubtedly caught between Archie and Hiram throughout season 2. It instantly became a love triangle of rare sorts between Veronica, Archie, and Hiram, with both Hiram and Archie competing fiercely against each other for Veronica’s unconditional love and passionate loyalty. The fundamental problem with Veronica and why her relationship with Archie is precisely such a toxic failure is because she merely can’t stop being a daddy’s helpless girl. She can’t cut the cord on her mighty father once and for all even though she knows how bad of criminal and petty crook he is. Even though she has seen how many dear lives her terrible father has methodically destroyed, including hers and Archie’s, she still can’t let him go willingly, and we witness that even in the current season 3. Veronica’s unhappiness is partially her fault because of her decisions to stick by her morally corrupt family, despite how unhappy they make her and despite how much pain and suffering they have caused her and her relationship with Archie. In the grand scheme of things, the most prominent victim in this entire situation is Archie. Affirmative, Veronica is undoubtedly an apparent victim of abuse from her cruel parents as well, but she chooses arbitrarily to be loyal to her criminal family even though they ill-treat her. Archie’s unhappiness that resulted from his relationship with Veronica wasn’t a choice, while I could suggest the argument that Veronica’s unhappiness that resulted from her relationship with Archie was of choice. Veronica could have naturally taken the preventive measures and the necessary steps to cut the cord on her authoritative parents, especially her corrupt father, but she hasn’t completely and fully done it. The specific key to Archie going back to being happy is one way: he should never get back together with Veronica or get tangled up with her morally corrupt family ever again. Archie needs to stay away from being romantically involved with Veronica. He can be friends with her and remain steadfastly on amicable and cordial terms with Veronica. But going back to being romantically involved with her is a huge no if Archie wants to find any semblance of happiness. On the other hand, the key to Veronica's happiness is not going back to Archie romantically. She needs to be single and focus on her spiritual growth and evolvement. Either that, or she needs to move on with someone who will undoubtedly make her happy and will adequately provide her with a healthy relationship (someone like Jughead or Reggie for example). Both Archie and Veronica need to cut the cord on each other and their relationship because their relationship isn't beneficial for either of their well beings and their mental and emotional health. Another key thing I discern is that if Varchie isn’t sleeping together, then they are either fighting, crying when they are together, or breaking up with each other. There’s merely no profound sense of everlasting happiness and eternal joy in this questionable relationship. It’s so toxic and detrimental to both of them, and it should be gently put to an ultimate end permanently. Archie and Veronica aren't meant to be together and season 2 has amply proven that over and over again. They are much happier and better off apart, or they are better off as just friends.
Varchie is a selfish relationship: Varchie’s relationship is heaped in enlightened selfishness, distinct lack of sincere appreciation and mutual respect, and disrespecting each other's wishes. For these key reasons, I undoubtedly find Varchie to represent an extremely selfish relationship. Their relationship makes Veronica and Archie as characters act incredibly selfish and self-absorbed. If Varchie represents a selfless relationship, then they wouldn’t have gotten together the way they traditionally did in the first place. Let’s not forget that Veronica decided to make a move on Archie when Veronica knew that Betty had genuine feelings for him. I know respectively that was something that’s a thing of the past, but it doesn’t negate the fundamental fact that Veronica’s irresistible attraction and active pursuit of Archie was selfish. Betty revealed to Veronica that she genuinely liked Archie and Veronica had willingly promised Betty that she would willingly help Betty pursue him even though she was also attracted to him. But she proactively managed to go back on her good word to Betty and instead chose to make a move on Archie herself. It was just a bitchy and selfish move. I’m a Veronica fan, and I've moved on from that moment, but it wasn’t an enjoyable thing to carry out. Another sufficient reason why I typically find Varchie to represent a selfish relationship is undoubted because they know how wrong they are together and how much extensive damage they were intentionally causing throughout season 2, yet they still stayed together and continued doggedly to hurt those closest to them willingly. Veronica had earnestly warned Archie not to get involved with her family and their private business because of how morally corrupting it is. But Archie was too selfish and insistent on being with Veronica that he voluntarily chose to willingly sacrifice his practical morals and moral integrity just so that he could be with Veronica and join her family. Archie knew what bad news Veronica’s family was, but because he was so self-absorbed where Ronnie was concerned, he executed an impulsive and reckless decision that cost him everything in the end. And Veronica knew that Archie was being morally corrupted and compromised yet she didn’t assuredly arrange anything to cease it. She knew Hiram was using and manipulating Archie, but Veronica was just too selfish to let him go and break up with him. I don’t feel that both of them firmly put each other’s specific needs before their own. Veronica has performed some delightful things for Archie and his family occasionally (like gallantly helping to pay off Fred’s medical bills which added to the tune of a whopping $86K), but that doesn’t negate the fact that their relationship is selfish in other ways. I genuinely feel like their relationship is undoubtedly an exceptional case of all take and no give from both parties, but mostly from Archie (taker) to Veronica (giver). Veronica is seemingly the inclined one to be constantly providing for Archie in a reliable way of financial, emotional, and physical support. She is the one, more often than him, that’s giving in the relationship and Archie doesn’t seem to appreciate or respect what Veronica does for him genuinely. For example, when Archie was traumatized after his father was shot and Veronica wanted to give Archie some emotional support, Archie told her to get lost even though Archie needed emotional comfort and support. Archie acted unappreciative of the fact that Veronica was trying to be supportive of him during a difficult time especially since Veronica had admitted earlier to Betty that she was unused to being the one to provide emotional support and comfort to other people during difficult times of crisis. Archie equally didn’t seem to appreciate that Veronica didn’t want Archie involved in her family business at first because she knew how dangerous and corruptive and poisonous it was and how he got involved with her corrupt family would morally endanger him, and she was right. Archie was much too selfish and impulsive when it came to wanting to join Veronica’s family, despite Veronica’s protests against it. He didn’t respect her good wishes and what she assuredly had to declare about him joining her family business. Or when Veronica prudently decided to construct a comprehensive plan to carefully help promptly break Archie out of the juvenile detention center in 3x05. Veronica successfully got him out of that hell hole with the help of his friends. But what does he end up doing? He breaks up with her and instantly abandons her after all she did to get him out of that prison and going through complete and total hell. There was no appreciation from Archie for what she accomplished for him. To sum up my specific point, I genuinely feel like Veronica provides more for the relationship while Archie doesn’t provide enough and that is what traditionally makes their relationship imbalanced. Veronica establishes more conscious effort into their relationship than Archie typically does, and it naturally looks like Veronica genuinely loves Archie more than Archie loves Veronica. Veronica rightfully deserves to be with someone who universally respects her, who would properly appreciate what she does for them and is willing to contribute generously to the relationship and be 100% committed to her and the relationship. Archie, from what I’ve witnessed throughout the seasons, merely isn’t that person for Veronica. But I’m not just going to say that it’s all on Archie either. I don’t feel that either Archie or Veronica respect or sincerely appreciate each other properly. In addition, Archie and Veronica don’t have any respect for what their relationship and their harmful actions together throughout season 2 had intentionally caused to other people and the established town of Riverdale in general, including those who were close to them (i.e., Fred, Mary, Jughead, Betty, Ethel, the Serpents, the Southside). Varchie and their direct actions represent the fundamental conflict of season 2, and they seem to be the apparent reason why there was so much unnecessary drama, unimaginable pain, and suffering. It is precisely why I typically view Varchie as a thoroughly selfish relationship.Â
Varchie is unpopular: From what I’ve observed, Varchie is universally considered to be undoubtedly the least liked and the least favorite couple on Riverdale amongst the devoted fans and the intended audience. There have been numerous complaints across the established board about this couple and not without good reason. One of the common complaints about this couple and why it is so unpopular is because they are over-sexualized and they are teenagers. The frequent complaints that many viewers consider about Varchie are that they have too many sex scenes and I can’t say I disagree with them. Varchie consistently has an explicit sex scene promptly thrown in almost every separate episode that they are in together, and it is beyond annoying and tiresome and monotonous. I can identify why the fandom and the dedicated audience are sick to the imminent death of keenly watching Varchie sleep together especially when they don’t have any on-screen chemistry, to begin. Explicit Varchie sex scenes are forced because of the fundamental lack of organic chemistry between the principal actors and the principal characters, and this is precisely where the factual basis of the legitimate complaints about this from the specific audience is typically coming. When a couple has chemistry, nobody wants to observe a couple has numerous sex scenes that are uncomfortable and forced. Many fans have also commented they feel Veronica uses sex as a way to control and manipulate Archie. Or that Veronica and Archie use sex as a way to overcome their problems. I can’t say the consensus of the fandom regarding this fact is precisely wrong because I do agree. Another frequent complaint amongst the critical audience and the fandom about Varchie and what contributes to Varchie’s lacking popularity are that Varchie is being portrayed as an acutely toxic, destructive relationship. The dangerous and unhealthy aspects and vital elements of Varchie’s complex relationship were most prominent to the loyal fans throughout season 2. The devoted fans constantly hated on Archie and Veronica both individually and as a couple throughout season 2 because of the poor writing and wrong characterization that they were undoubtedly receiving. Archie and Veronica’s fierce loyalty to the prominent Lodge family and their corrupt plans for Riverdale did nothing, and it merely made them incredibly unlikeable. Archie and Veronica enthusiastically received gallons of passionate hate from the fandom and the loyal viewers throughout season 2, and it was so painful to watch despite it being amply justified. These are precisely the two most common complaints about Varchie that I have seen about Varchie in the fandom and why they remain the devoted couple that receives the harshest criticisms. I can’t say I accuse the considerable majority of the loyal fans of disliking Varchie because I’m one of them and many of their specific reasons for not liking or shipping Varchie are understandable and justified. That doesn’t mean that Varchie doesn’t have any fans or supporters, however. There are a vocal group of fans in the Riverdale fandom who love Varchie and like to allow everyone knows that despite Varchie’s overwhelming unpopularity and underneath the heaps of hate and criticisms they receive, they are satisfied Varchie shippers and nothing will discontinue them from letting everyone else in the Riverdale fandom know about it. I would say that up to 70%-75% of the loyal Riverdale viewers and fandoms either dislike, hate or are apathetic/don’t care about Varchie. Therefore while I sincerely believe the considerable majority of the fandom is not Team Varchie, they, however, include some vocal and loud supporters in their private corner and dear boy, are they sure rude, annoying and obnoxious!Â
Veronica becomes an unlikeable character with Archie: Typically, I enjoy Veronica. But whenever she is with Archie, she becomes an intolerable and unlikeable mess. I don’t grasp what it is about Archie and her relationship with him, but they most definitely don’t bring out the best in Veronica. When she is with Archie, Veronica regresses as a unique character and doesn’t grow as a capable person. With Archie, I typically find Veronica unlikeable, selfish, spoiled and over-sexualized. I genuinely think she becomes unlikeable around Archie because he naturally brings out her controlling, manipulative, domineering traits. Archie is undoubtedly not a very assertive person when it comes eagerly to standing up for himself. Veronica will take advantage of that and try to direct him. Aside from the controlling and domineering aspect that she prominently displays in her mutual interactions with Archie, I naturally find that Veronica’s specific character has gone downhill because of her complex relationship with him. Veronica sacrificed her individuality because of her relationship with Archie. Her storylines seem to revolve around Archie and how everything she accomplishes affects Archie. I hate how such a capable, intelligent, independent girl like Veronica has her life revolve around Archie and her love life. If her personal life isn’t revolving around Archie, then it’s revolving around her beloved father Hiram. It merely makes Veronica very unlikeable as a person and not at all relatable. Veronica has instantly become a caricature of the capable person she traditionally used to be back in season 1. I positively hate how her social life revolves around Archie to the specific point where I genuinely feel like Veronica isn’t even an independent character anymore. The contributing writers don’t know how to write decent storylines for Veronica carefully, so they latch everything that typically happens to Archie onto Veronica’s notable storyline. Since invariably getting with Archie, her complex character has naturally become controlling, manipulative, spoiled, and selfish. Archie was supposed to exert a beneficial effect or influence on Veronica, but as season 2 has proven, it’s the contrary case. Because of Archie and her relationship with him, not only did Archie become corrupted by her authoritative family but Veronica undoubtedly fell into her family’s criminal activity along with Archie. The united two worked as a cohesive team, and it was like it was merely them against the cruel world. They acted too much like a Bonnie & Clyde duo, conducting constant shady and illegal activity behind their friends' backs. It made Veronica extremely unlikeable, and there were points where I couldn’t support her even though I’m a Veronica fan. Archie possesses a habit of bringing out the manipulative side of Veronica without indeed trying or performing anything. Veronica’s penchant for implementing manipulation is one of her most negative qualities and personality traits, but the most significant reason why I think Archie brings out V’s manipulative side is that Archie is so gullible, trusting and naive. Archie makes it so easy for him to allow Veronica to manipulate and dominate him. When Veronica tries to manipulate and control Archie carefully, it’s precisely specific times like this when I undoubtedly find Veronica unlikeable as a character. In addition to Archie and her relationship with him making Veronica, an overall unlikeable person, I instantly feel that Archie brings out Veronica’s lustful and hedonistic side. Something about Archie naturally causes her to want to sleep with him constantly, and it’s just extremely frustrating to grimly watch because Veronica Lodge is more than just the passionate, sexy girl who popularly uses her sexuality to persuade what she desires. With Archie, everything becomes sexual with Veronica. It’s like Veronica and Archie doesn’t know how to talk intimately or communicate meaningfully. It’s habitually the consistent thing with them using sex as a way to rectify their problems or communicate with each other. The over-sexualization of Veronica represents a huge turn off for her character. We need to remember that Veronica is an underaged 16-year-old girl and she should NOT be so lustful and over sexual at such a youthful age. Archie bringing out Veronica’s lustful side is typically a certain way to instantly get the fandom and the dedicated audience to fiercely criticize Veronica for being over-sexualized and to slut shame her. Veronica being beyond sexualized is undoubtedly a negative connotation for her character because it typically plays into the racist stereotype that Latina women and girls are merely sluts, whores, and putas who sleep around. It’s not a proper look for her character and Archie indeed happens to bring out that sleazy side of her that I don’t like. Veronica isn’t a mature adult. SHE’S 16 YEARS OLD. She’s underaged, and she is still technically a child. I know precisely what we the intended audience genuinely seem to forget these are underaged teenagers that we are eagerly watching because the principal actors were realistically portraying these characters are all in the 20′s. But again, these are undoubtedly kids. Veronica is a child, and she is written as an over-sexualized character. It’s no wonder why Veronica is unlikeable to a sizeable portion of the audience because her constant need to sleep with Archie causes her to appear slutty. The reason why so many people in the fandom prefer Betty or have a preference for Betty is that they see her as more virtuous and virginal than Veronica, who they see as a whore. In the Riverdale fandom, there’s a huge Madonna-Whore Complex trend going on where the considerable majority of the fandom typically sees Betty as the Madonna and Veronica as the Whore. Much of the bad characterization of Veronica’s character whether it be her unlikeability, her controlling and overbearing tendencies, her spoiled brattiness and entitled attitude, her manipulative qualities, or the over-sexualization of her character has considerably to do with Archie and the kind of influence he has on her as a character. The way for Veronica to show character growth and proper development as well as go on the direct path to naturally becoming a more appealing, relatable character is for her to break up with Archie for good. She should never get back together with him romantically but instead, remain mutual friends with him. She may need to stay single for a while or pursue someone who is more compatible with her (like Reggie or maybe Jughead). Archie isn't the fit guy for Veronica because of how unlikeable he typically makes her.Â
Barchie + Jeronica or Veggie are endgame?: Finally, the key reason why I positively hate Varchie and don’t support them together is that I’m a fervent believer that Barchie and either Veggie OR Jeronica will be undoubtedly endgame. The critical reason why I reasonably believe Barchie is endgame over Varchie is that unlike Varchie, Barchie has gradual development and a unique journey. They didn’t get together right away in season 1 for a reason because the writers are most likely saving Barchie to be explored for later on in the series towards endgame time. Also, Varchie happened way too fast into the series (like Bughead) and without proper development. They were accelerated and forced as a result of a lack of good development. Varchie is, also, an incredibly destructive and toxic relationship whereas Barchie has shown to be a much happier, healthier relationship in marked contrast. Varchie has consistently proven that they do not work as a couple and that they’re better off apart (as we are currently seeing in season 3). If Varchie were undoubtedly going to be endgame, do you genuinely think the writers would have written Varchie so terribly and ruined their relationship so much throughout season 2? Do you think that if Varchie were undoubtedly endgame that the writers would execute Varchie as such an unlikeable couple and regressed Archie and Veronica’s characters during their relationship? No, they wouldn’t. It’s like the writers deliberately wrote Varchie as an unlikeable and toxic couple because they are intentionally trying to sufficiently prove a key point and typically contrast their relationship with Barchie. They require the dedicated audience to root for Barchie to eventually get together romantically because when they do, it will be abundantly satisfying and justly earned. That is typically why I sincerely believe that Barchie is endgame over Varchie. Now, not only do I think that Barchie will be endgame, but I believe that either Veggie or Jeronica will be endgame. My specific reason for believing that Veggie will be endgame over Varchie is because Veggie had way better build up and sustainable development than Varchie. Whereas Varchie pretty much got together super quickly, Veggie had proper development that we merely witnessed. They naturally went from being potential enemies to frenemies, to mutual friends, to lovers. Out of all of the current canon romantic couples on the show, Veggie has had the best development so far. In notable addition to Veggie securing superior development to Varchie contributing mightily to Veggie being endgame over Varchie, Veggie moreover includes stronger and superior chemistry to Varchie. Much of the stronger chemistry between Veggie naturally has to do with Charles Melton and Camila Mendes dating off-screen. I feel Camila may have a slight influence on her character of Veronica ending up with Reggie over Archie if that is what she desires. Other than the key development and the chemistry factor, I feel Veggie is possibly endgame over Varchie because Veronica and Reggie’s distinctive personalities and temperaments match each other. They have similar personality traits in many ways. Veggie has a higher compatibility rating because Reggie and Veronica generously share some remarkable things in common. Ultimately, I genuinely think Veggie enjoys a grander chance of being endgame over Varchie because Veggie is significantly more popular and well-liked by the dedicated audience and the fandom than Varchie, which has been one of the most hated and unpopular couples in the fandom since the beginning. Veggie’s considerable popularity amongst the Riverdale fandom could exercise a mighty influence on the writers causing them to be endgame because the writers would naturally want to please the considerable majority of the loyal fanbase. On the other hand, I also feel there’s a possibility that Jeronica could be endgame as well. The most significant reason why I genuinely think that Jeronica could be endgame is that if you look earnestly at the grand scheme of the entire show, Riverdale is framed by Jughead and Veronica’s complex storylines and arcs. When you indeed look at Riverdale as a coherent whole, the show revolves around Jughead and Veronica and their prominent families and their compelling stories. A second reason why I instantly think Jeronica possesses a huge possibility at being endgame alongside Barchie is because of the ominous foreshadowing of Barchie/Jeronica that undoubtedly took place at the end of 1x02. When Jughead and Archie saw Betty and Veronica at Pop’s Diner, Jughead was staring thoughtfully at Veronica as if he instantly fell in love at first sight with her. It was precisely like considerable time stopped, and he instantly saw his soulmate. In my opinion, that is the implication of that particular moment. But what approached after that was Jughead walking over and choosing to sit next to Veronica instead of Betty (on the other hand, Archie sat next to Betty). Jughead put his arm around Veronica, and they seriously looked like a romantic couple even though they had just met. Another possible reason that carefully adds to the Jeronica being endgame possibility is the endless and numerous similarities and parallels that have been typically occurring between Jughead and Veronica since the series began. Here is a comprehensive list comprised of all of the key things in common, the striking similarities and the direct parallels that undoubtedly exist between Jughead and Veronica, and they are many and counting!: http://thatsixfoottallgirl.tumblr.com/post/170088867186 The fact that there are endless parallels between Jughead and Veronica throughout the series cannot remain a coincidence. It’s like the writers are purposely setting up all these similarities and parallels between Jughead and Veronica to prove a specific point abundantly and to send a message that Jughead and Veronica are undoubtedly meant to be. They are doing it with impunity in such a discreet manner without being too obvious about it because they don’t want to piss off the rowdy Bughead fans. But the remarkable similarities and direct parallels between these two characters are too obvious, and it foreshadows something more between Jeronica down the continuous line. Otherwise, why would the writers bother writing all of these apparent similarities and remarkable parallels between Jughead and Veronica when they don’t even interact all that much right now? If and when Jughead and Veronica eventually get together romantically, it will be satisfying and a plot twist at the same time. It will be undoubtedly a profound shock to Jughead and Veronica with proper regard to how similar they are and how much they undoubtedly have in common, and it will also surprise the dedicated audience with how much they belong together because of these considerable similarities. Jeronica is the dark horse ship of Riverdale. I believe if written properly with good and sensible development, it could become the most popular couple on the show. Conclusively, I sincerely believe Jeronica enjoys a decent chance of naturally becoming established canon and possibly being endgame is because Jeronica has powerful on-screen chemistry. In fundamental fact, I genuinely think Jeronica has the strongest chemistry out of all the couples, canon and non-canon, on the show. Cole and Camila have good, organic chemistry with each other, and it typically exceeds their chemistry with Lili and KJ respectively. Many people have commented about the magnetic and strong on-screen chemistry between Cole and Camila especially during this season when they have more scenes together. Once Jeronica enjoys more direct interactions and key scenes together, I guarantee Jeronica will continue to gain popularity and tons more fan support which could strongly affect the possible chances of them being endgame over Varchie or even Veggie. To me, Jeronica is the second coming of Pacey/Joey (Dawson’s Creek), Kylo Ren/Rey (Star Wars) or Hyde/Jackie (That 70′s Show). Interestingly enough, these were all fan favorite and popular couples. Jeronica being endgame would be an excellent plot twist to a highly predictable and overall badly written show because nobody would expect them to end up together. They are so different but are alike at the same time. Therefore, those remain some of the sufficient reasons why I sincerely believe that Barchie and Veggie/Jeronica obtain an excellent chance of being endgame over Varchie (and Bughead) and honestly, those couples being endgame over Bughead/Varchie makes more sense story wise because it shows complex character and relationship development. Â
To conclude my master post, I know that this was probably a tedious and extra long read, but I thought it would be good to write a post explaining why I don’t like Varchie and why I don’t think they are a good couple. I believe if Riverdale wants to improve its quality and content, then they should keep Varchie separated for good because their relationship doesn’t bring anything positive to the show. Again, I know there are multi shippers in this fandom, and there are some Barchie, Veggie, and Jeronica shippers who may ship Varchie as well. So if you’re a multi-shipper who ships Varchie, ignore my post. Thank you for reading! 🌹
