Word Bearers having recital contests where participants compete for the best, most emotional, and most accurate readings of long passages from the Book of Lorgar, at least the ones that don't cause the speakers to spontaneously combust.

They start 'em early. Children whose parents are part of Word Bearer congregations are invited to these contests, and get pretty ribbons with skull pins for doing a good job. They may even receive cash prizes and get recruited as Space Marine neophytes.

Once upon a time a Chaos Space Marine and an Imperial Space Marine fucked and had adorable twins who were literally born to be Space Marines.

When they turned ten years old, their father sent them away to get a proper education as Space Marines. These Word Bearers, regarding twins as sacred, were happy to pledge allegiance to him in exchange for them.

These neophytes, precocious and plucky boys who resemble their mother, have just won a Book of Lorgar recital contest.

They write letters to their mom about how much they're learning with their new warband and how proud they feel for memorizing so much (Space Marines are supposed to have good memories). They include drawings of their ribbons.

Mom, who was born in the Imperium and taught to be Emperor-respecting and intolerant of religions that aren't the Imperial Creed, finds all of this alarming. They may faint upon reading the letters.

Perhaps their husband needs to intercept the letters until they're ready...there is a lot of control and manipulation going on in this marriage that the twins have no idea about.

Two little feet dropped down behind him, and Ra’s had to resist the urge to startle. “Detective,” he greeted, not turning around. There was a frustrated “tt” before Bruce’s voice came from behind him. “How do you always know?!” Bruce asked, sounding adorably frustrated. Ra’s decided not to tell him that no one else would dare sneak up behind him— except for his daughters, but then he wouldn’t hear them— and simply fixed Bruce with an enigmatic smile. “I’m the Demon Head,” Ra’s answered, aiming for a— yes, there it was, that hint of a smile at Bruce’s lips. He was such a precocious eleven-year-old, but he was still eleven. Practically a baby, what was Ra’s thinking, letting him in the field alone— no. Bruce was a capable agent, and Ra’s had started his own training much younger. “That isn’t an answer!” Bruce’s foot twitched, and Ra’s knew he had been about to stomp it. “I have a mission for you,” he said, instead of answering. Based off of Bruce’s quiet groan, he hadn’t missed the way Ra’s had changed the subject. “What?” Bruce asked sulkily, and Ra’s let a little warning seep into his gaze. “Sorry, Lord Ra’s,” Bruce mumbled, sensing his displeasure, and Ra’s let up on his unspoken reprimand. “What is it?” “I’m sending you to a League base in Britain. Some of our neophytes have been...rather vexing, as of late,” a thinly-veiled veneer of disgust slipped into his words, “I expect you to, ah, remind them upon whose sufferance they work.” Bruce straightened, folding his hands behind his back. “Of course, Lord Ra’s.” Ra’s didn’t miss the sparkle of mischief in the boy’s eyes as he bowed, but Ra’s elected to ignore it. Whatever Bruce was planning, those idiots deserved it. Ra’s would soon come to regret that decision.

(cw catcalling, rant, if youd rather not read atm I totally understand) I have to say I was *this* close to screaming my head off in sheer frustration after three boys in primary? (12 at absolute max, likely younger) school passed me, at first whispering and then one said "whore" under his breath... I mean, how do you even react to these goddamn neophytes? Itm I just screamed "you goddamn assholes", but like.. Im also the adult in this scenario?!? the fuck?

Isn't that such a fucking depressing ass statement about patriarchal culture though? Boys - literal CHILDREN - can be confident in sexually harassing adult women. What the literal fuck. So my thing is, like, sure you're the adult there - but if they think they're big and manly enough to harass women like a man, they can get the consequences of that like a man too, and I have absolutely no compunction about ripping them a new one or needing to take the high road and not start shit, just because they're kids.That said, you know what's far more damaging to a boy of that age than being yelled at or cussed out? Scorn and ridicule. It cuts them back down to size in a way that doesn't quite work the same way on an adult man. Have you seen GOTG 2? Think like the way that one Sovereign lady cracked up when Yondu had just blown up his ship and Taserface was like "when you kill him, tell him the name of the man that sealed his fate: Taserface." and she snorts and then dissolves into giggles. Make it super clear that while they may think they're big bad men, they are actually walking punchlines and just haven't realized it yet. That'll hit their egos a lot harder than anything else could.So instead of yelling, just start laughing like they're the funniest thing you've seen in weeks (and honestly, the idea of a couple of 12 year old boys thinking they're badass for calling a woman who's at least twice their age a whore is pretty fucking funny in the abstract, so use that to your advantage to fuel your mocking laughter). For bonus points, gasp out between giggles "Oh my god, you are so precious! Did your daddy teach you to say that?" and say it in a tone like you're talking to a precocious toddler who just used a word they definitely don't know the meaning of and just picked it up from hearing an adult say it. Like, with condescension just dripping from your voice as you say it. (caveat: some 12-yr-olds can be surprisingly big and they might feel the need to escalate to defend their nonexistent manhood in front of their friends, so only do the extended version with talking down to them if you're confident you could come out on top in a physical altercation with them if it came to that. I'm big, always angry, and I fight dirty, so they'd have to be bizarrely ripped kiddos before I'd start worrying, but if you're smol yourself or not sure you could kick the snot out of the brats, just use the scornful laughter response but don't engage further.)

A Google Doodle, it sez here, is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages intended to commemorate holidays, events, achievements, and notable historical figures. Google got September off to a good start by highlighting a cartoonist in its Doodle for September 1. Not only was the Doodle about a cartoonist, it was also drawn by a cartoonist. And both cartoonists are women. And both women are Black! The occasion that prompted this happy coincidental, said Sarah Cascone at artnet.com, is the 75th anniversary of Jackie Ormes’ longest-running cartoon, Patty-Jo ‘n’ Ginger, first published on September 1, 1945. The single-panel cartoon, which featured the precocious insight of Ginger’s young sister Patty-Jo, ran for 11 years and inspired an unusual toy doll from Terri Lee: it was the first American Black doll to have an extensive line of clothes, and it eschewed common racial stereotypes. The story initially was a big Knicks victory over a good Rockets team Monday night in new team president Leon Rose’s first day on the job. It took a turn Tuesday morning when Spike Lee went on ESPN’s “First Take” and addressed an incident the previous night with Madison Square Garden security. It’s the most Knicks thing possible to follow their best win of the season with another PR disaster.

That’s where the latest episode of “Big Apple Buckets” podcast starts. Kazeem Famuyide and I react to the filmmaker and superfan’s comments, the Knicks’ PR statement and how poorly this was handled. Shouldn’t the Knicks have told Lee in advance about not using the employee entrance? Why escalate the situation with a tweet that includes a photo from afar of Lee and James Dolan shaking hands? It’s now become a war between Lee, who spends around $300,000 a year on tickets and has had them for almost 30 years, and the controversial Knicks owner.

Legendary Knicks broadcaster Mike Breen then joins the show. Breen talks about how special it was for him to get into the Hall of Fame and how grateful he is to get to call Knicks games for so long. He also talks about what he has seen from RJ Barrett, the Knicks’ youth movement and the future of the team. He speaks highly of Mike Miller as the potential head coach after this season. The 2020 Curt Gowdy Award winner breaks down where his “Bang!” call originated and how it stuck with him. Breen also talks about working with Walt “Clyde” Frazier and his favorite words from Clyde’s vocabulary. “Precocious neophyte” gets plenty of love here.

NY Post Knicks beat writer Marc Berman then drops by in his weekly spot. Berman talks about Rose’s speech to the team before Monday night’s impressive win and the message he sent to the players. Berman addresses what Rose means to the franchise and the impact he could have. He also talks about Barrett’s confidence and improved play in a career-best performance.

New York Knicks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder pregame: Carmelo Anthony's return

Carmelo Anthony is returning to Madison Square Garden for the first time to face his old teammates — and his old fans.

The New York Knicks will be hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight and are looking to win their fourth straight game and move to three games above .500. While the struggling Thunder coming in to take on a youthful and exciting Knicks team could be the storyline, it’s not.

Fans are going to be hyper-focusing on Carmelo Anthony in his return to the place where he played for seven seasons. It’s unclear whether Knicks fans will cheer or boo the 10-time all-star, but I have a feeling every fan in the building will let ‘Melo know exactly how they feel.

Anthony was exactly the type of player that fans either loved or hated. For better or for worse, his time in New York will always be a large part of his legacy. He took his team to the second round of the playoffs once. The Knicks missed the playoffs in his last four seasons on the team. Anthony knows how a lot of Knicks fans feel about him and you can bet that he’s looking to have a big game in front of them tonight.

Despite the buildup and intriguing storylines in this game, it may not live up to the hype. Injuries and overuse are going to change the lineups for both teams tonight. Kristaps Porzingis is dealing with a sore left knee and is still questionable for tonight’s game. The Thunder are coming off of a triple overtime victory in Philadelphia in which four of their players played 45 minutes or more.

Carmelo Anthony is likely to see a reduction in minutes in tonight’s game. He may want to go out and give his average of about 33 minutes per game, but a realistic expectation could be around 25 minutes tonight.

Steven Adams has already been ruled out after playing 51 minutes and a large majority of those minutes came while he was covering Philadelphia’s precocious neophyte Joel Embiid. He is going through concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head late in last night’s game.

Paul George played 45 minutes last night, but he will likely still get a lion’s share of the minutes. He’s a superstar in his prime and the Thunder need to start finding their groove. He might see a slight dip in minutes, but he’s still capable of putting up huge numbers tonight.

Russell Westbrook played a career-high 52 minutes in last night’s game. I bet he went to the rec center after last night’s game against the Sixers to see if he could find another game. It really is incredible how he never looks tired and is always attacking whether it’s his first minute of the game or his 52nd minute. Joel Embiid came up with some huge plays late, but he was sucking wind on each play. Westbrook was attacking in transition every play and only pulling back when he saw that he was all by himself.

I doubt we see anything other than the most authentic version of Russell Westbrook tonight. Jarrett Jack has struggled mightily against more athletic guards this season. If he has to cover Russell Westbrook tonight, it could be a long night for Knicks fans. But maybe we’ll see another positive effort from the rookie Frank Ntilikina. It will be a great taste for Ntilikina who only played eight minutes when these two teams met in the season opener.

The Knicks are an excellent team at home and the Thunder have underperformed to this point in the season. Hopefully, Kristaps Porzingis is healthy enough to play because without him the Knicks will have their work cut out for them. My prediction is Knicks 104 – Thunder 95.
