Aho Vikramarka - A Familiar Tale with a Standout Lead

*Aho Vikramarka* delivers a solid dose of action and drama, though it treads familiar territory in its narrative. The story revolves around Vikramarka, a corrupt cop played by Dev Gill, whose life takes a sharp turn when he stumbles upon a buried secret that plunges him into a violent confrontation with the villainous Asura, portrayed by Pravin Tarde.

Dev Gill’s portrayal of Vikramarka is undoubtedly the film's highlight. He brings a rugged intensity to the role, perfectly capturing the transformation from a self-serving officer to a man on a mission. Gill’s ability to balance the character’s ruthlessness with moments of vulnerability is impressive and keeps the audience engaged, even when the plot feels predictable.

Chitra Shukla adds charm as Vikramarka’s girlfriend, though her character serves more as a narrative device to propel Vikramarka into action than a fully fleshed-out role. Still, Shukla’s screen presence adds a touch of elegance to the film.

The supporting cast, including Pravin Tarde, Prabhakar, and Krishna Murali Posani, deliver solid performances, but they are somewhat limited by the conventional storyline. Pravin Tarde’s portrayal of Asura is menacing, yet his character falls into the trope of a typical villain without much depth.

Director Trikoti Peta ensures that the film maintains a brisk pace, keeping the audience entertained with well-executed action sequences and sharp dialogues. The action, overseen by Real Satish, is executed with flair, adding excitement to the otherwise straightforward plot. However, the film doesn’t break new ground and relies heavily on tried-and-tested formulas.

In the end, *Aho Vikramarka* is a decent watch for fans of action dramas. While it doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking, Dev Gill’s commanding performance and the film’s fast pace make it an enjoyable, if not particularly memorable, experience.

Film Stars Celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Khalnayak

The iconic 1993 film Khalnayak, starring Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, and Anupam Kher, celebrated its 30th anniversary on September 11, 2023. To mark the occasion, a star-studded screening was held in Mumbai.

The screening was attended by many of the film's cast and crew, including Subhash Ghai, the film's director; Ila Arun, who sang the iconic song "Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi"; and Pravin Tarde, who edited the film.

The screening was followed by a panel discussion, in which the cast and crew reminisced about the making of the film. They spoke about the challenges they faced, the successes they achieved, and the lasting impact the film has had on Hindi cinema.

Sanjay Dutt, who played the role of the villain in Khalnayak, said that the film was a turning point in his career. "It was a very challenging role, but it was also a very rewarding one," he said. "I am grateful to Subhash Ghai for giving me this opportunity."

Jackie Shroff, who played the role of the police inspector in Khalnayak, said that the film was a "milestone" in his career. "It was a very successful film, and it helped me to establish myself as a leading actor in Hindi cinema," he said.

Madhuri Dixit, who played the role of the love interest in Khalnayak, said that the film was a "dream come true" for her. "I had always wanted to work with Subhash Ghai, and Khalnayak gave me that opportunity," she said. "I am so glad that I was a part of this film."

★ Salman Khan Starrer 'Mulshi Pattern' Remake To Release In 5 Different Languages?!

Salman Khan starrer Mulshi Pattern remake will also have his brother-in-law, Aayush Sharma. In a recent interview with a leading national daily, Mulshi Pattern director Pravin Tarde revealed that the film will also release in several other languages apart from Hindi. He added that the film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannad and Oriya too.

Pravin Tarde also added that the shooting for the Salman Khan starrer Mulshi Pattern remake was scheduled to kick-off by April 25, 2020. However, he added, due to the coronavirus lockdown, the shooting has been postponed. The director also added that both Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma play important roles in the film.

Pravin Tarde is also the writer of the original Mulshi Pattern. Tarde also spoke about how the Mulshi Pattern was made keeping in mind the needs of the Marathi audience. However, the Hindi remake is being made against a Haryanvi backdrop. When quizzed about why he did not want to direct the remake, Pravin Tarde added that he was not very comfortable. He added that he has never tried a Haryanvi setting before and hence, did not want to direct the remake.

It was earlier reported that Salman Khan will be essaying the role of a policeman in Mulshi Pattern remake. However, on the other hand, Aayush Sharma will portray a gangster who is being hunted down by the police. If media reports are to be believed, then the remake of Mulshi Pattern will be titled Dhak.

Sep 25, 2021 The song Vignaharta from Antim: The Final Truth released when Ganesh Chaturthi began, and today, is a chartbuster, with the track being played in mandaps across Mumbai. The film, an official adaptation of the Marathi movie, Mulshi Pattern, stars Salman Khan, Aayush Sharma, Pravin Tarde, Pragya Jaiswal, Nikitin Dheer, Mahima Makwana, Jisshu Sengupta and others. Next in line is a two-minute action and drama-packed trailer that director Mahesh Manjrekar is in the process of editing. It will be the first trailer of the film. Earlier this month, the Antim team released the first poster of the movie, where Salman plays an honest cop and Aayush, a gangster.

While it is still being decided whether the trailer will come out in the first or second week of October, the filmmaker adds that it will be followed by a song. “The two-minute trailer will have Salman, Aayush and some of the other characters and it will try to tell you a little bit about what the film is about. I am in the process of editing it. Post-production of Antim is on and we are also editing the trailer now. We released the song Vignaharta during the Ganpati season and it turned out to be a chartbuster. More than being catchy, the song is a hit because it has all the traditional elements of the Ganpati festival too which appeals to all.

”Salman is not known to be a director’s actor but someone who gets involved in each and every part of his movies – from the script to the music and marketing. “A good suggestion is always welcome. Yes, he is involved in the filmmaking process but in Antim I have tried to shred the Salman image in what he is usually seen as in all his earlier films. We have been friends for years, so he knows what I want. As far as the script is concerned, I had it ready before we shot. I had insisted that I want the film to be as I have written it. Where music and other aspects are concerned, I welcome his suggestions as he has a good ear for music.”

There’s talk that Salman is doing a special appearance in the film. Mahesh denies it emphatically, “It’s definitely not a special appearance as Salman is there throughout the film. If you see lengthwise, the character of Rama Shetty in Ardh Satya had just six scenes, but he was the main antagonist and unforgettable. We have these warped ideas of special appearances. What will you call Asrani and Samba in Sholay? You take these roles home with you. The characters make a film. Sunny Deol was hardly there in Damini but when people mention the film, they talk about his 'dhai kilo ka haath'.”

Mahesh's conviction in his project is high. The director says that Antim has “shaped up brilliantly and you will see Salman as you have never seen him before! This is the first time that I am working with him as a director, and he has done a fantastic job. Salman will surprise everybody with his performance. I am very happy with the film as the audience will feel after watching the movie that Salman is different and fantastic. Antim is a film right up my territory. It is an extremely realistic portrayal of a character (Aayush) who comes from the village and how he evolves into a larger-than-life person after certain incidents take place in his life.”

His next directorial, a Marathi crime thriller, Varan Bhat Loncha Ni Kon Nay Koncha, shot during the pandemic, is also ready for release at the theatres. “It’s a mind-blowing concept and one of the best films that I have ever made. It completes my trilogy – first Vaastav, followed by City Of Gold and now Varan Bhat Loncha Ni Kon Nay Koncha.”
