3rd Club Activity - Mock MUN

On the 27th of August 2022, Yuva MUN Club convened again to make their third club session a success. The activity planned for the day was simulation. The simulations were planned to be conducted in 2 groups - Group A and Group B. Group A had a UNICEF committee with their agenda being ‘Removing barriers that prevent access to quality education’. The committee was chaired by Ms. Mathangi (XII grader from MUN Club) and Vice Chair Ms. Kavya (IX grader and the Secretary of the MUN Club). Group B students had a Continuous Crisis Committee that discussed a hypothetical agenda - “Covid’s 5th variant - Zeta virus”. The committee was chaired by Mr. Joshua (XI grader from the Quiz Club) and Co chair Ms. Neha Julius (XII grader and the President of the MUN Club).

The simulations provided the members of the club a golden opportunity to understand the workings of an MUN and prepared them for future MUNs. Their quality of speech, lobbying skills, documentation skills were scrutinised. It tested their confidence and research skills as well. The simulation also received a positive response from the participants as well.

The awards were announced as follows:

High Commendation - Delegate of Pakistan (R Mythili of VIII B) and Bangladesh (Hrithik Naryan of VIII D)

Special Mention - Delegate of Palestine (Siddhi R of VIII E)

Verbal Mention - Delegate of USA (Tharun of VIII C), Sweden (Sai Samyuktha K of VII A) and Syria (Ryan Julius Panakkal of VII C)

Group B

Best Delegate - Delegate of Russia (Aravind S of XII A1)

High Commendation - Delegate of China (S K Navanith of XII A1)

Special Mention - Delegate of USA (Sai Sanjay of XII B1)

Verbal Mention - Delegate of Spain (Swayam Porwal of XII B1)
