The Jersey

Coincidentally after having that thought, I witnessed a group of people celebrating the triumph of their soccer team. They all had the jersey of the team. Adults, kids, men, and women, they all had the shirts. There was even a dog that also had the jersey on. 

How? Since young we put on the jerseys of the team they should support. We raise them on the same religion that our families have followed for generations, sometimes only knowing little or nothing of it. 

The music they hear in the house…

Their political party…

Oh and our tendency to create “mini us”.

The rockers with their black leather jackets with their mini rockers who hold their hands. 

The cowboys and their little cowboys. 

The fashionistas with their little ladies that dress like women.

But, giving them a jersey or trying to make them look like us isn’t as serious as passing down our fears, or mental limitations, our superstitions, etc. 

“You aren’t going to make it in that”, “I don’t think you can”, “That’s too hard”. These and so many more phrases that we tell our kids. It’d be great if it didn’t influence them, but as parents our influence is huge. 

There exists that period in their childhood where we are their heroes, and “if my dad says it’s not possible, it’s because it’s not.” That is the thought of a kid who still doesn’t understand how much potential he truly has, but because of instincts he follows the examples of his parents. 

How to SAVE my kids from being my parents' kids?

Full life for everyone. Remember that no one is born knowing, we can all learn a little everyday.
