1934 Peter Harholdt, BMW, R7 Concept Motorcycle. Art Deco.
BMW’s sleek, streamlined, one-of-a-kind R7 Concept Motorcycle appeared at major shows in Germany in 1934, then was crated up and lost until it was discovered in 2005, and restored by BMW craftsmen. Highly advanced for its day, with a pressed steel frame and full bodywork, the R7 is a remarkable survivor—and a bike that was well before its time.

Portland Art Museum: Japanese Landscape Prints by Utagawa Hiroshige (museum exhibition)
“…this exhibition explores Japan’s journey with and through nature during the 19th century and into the modern age through the lens of landscape prints, revealing the at once reverential and playful spirit in which people held the trees, mountains, and rivers around them."

Busy, commercial Downtown Portland is known for its shops, art galleries, music venues, and trendy restaurants, especially on and around Congress Street. The Portland Museum of Art showcases works by Maine and international artists, and the nearby Children's Museum has science- and play-based exhibits. The grand City Hall building dates from 1912, and nearby Lincoln Park features walking trails and a fountain.
