Favorite food? and least favorite food
John Dory - Troll equivalent of beef jerky. Bug jerky? Yeah let's go with that. 😏 Snail jerky, cricket jerky, worm jerky! And steak! 🥩 Hates mushrooms! 🍄 There was a time when it was all he could find when foraging! Yes it kept him alive, but it was disgusting!
Bruce - absolutely LOATHES eggs🥚At one point when he was younger, to keep up his physique he would eat only boiled eggs for days at a time. He quickly got sick of them! His favourite food now is fried chicken wings 🍗. Yaaaasss!
Clay - Clay likes sandwiches. 🥪 They are efficient! They can be custom made to whatever he is craving or whatever is he has available. They are quick and easy to make and he can pack one to eat later. At the Hole n Fun, sunflower seeds were a staple. They could make them into flour, then into bread. Clay hates sea food. Can't stand the smell of it! He tolerates it the best he can when visiting Bruce, but if he can avoid it, he will! 🐟
Floyd - he likes a specific dish that's made by the Hard Rock Trolls. It's a very spicy pizza-like meal from a restaurant called 'Upper Crust'. 🍕 He has tried to recreate it but it never quite tastes the same. Cannot stand the taste of olives. 🫒 He will sit there and pick every last one of them them out of a dish before he can eat it.
Branch - If you ask him he will say his favourite food is he will say potatoes. 🥔 They can become many different meals, he can store heaps of them and regrow them from cuttings. Buuuuut secretly his favourite food is his Grandma's Fluffleberry Cake. 🍰 He likes sugar like any other Troll but he can't tolerate OVERLY sugary things e.g. candy floss, meringue. Too much of it reminds him off the taste of Ring Pops and it makes him sick.
Fun fact - All of the brothers like the taste of coriander/cilantro. To Poppy and Viva it tastes like soap. 🫧

Welcome Home Theory that's been running around in my brain. In the recent update, Food comes up quite a few times. Sally asking Poppy to bake her a cake, Sally buying some goods from Howdy, Frank helping Poppy to bake and the multiple times we see Frank in his garden, using chopped up vegetables as fertilizer.
One thing I noticed in particular, especially when it came to Sally, is that Sally doesn't particularly assign the concept of Eating with Flavor at all. Howdy sold Sally a box of Soap Flakes as Instant-Mashed Potatoes, a Sponge for Bread, and Wood Chips & Sawdust as Cereal. And when asking Poppy for a cake, she was more interested in the cake's aesthetically qualities more-so than how it actually tasted. Now this could just be seen Howdy fleecing Sally and Sally being quirky, but I couldn't help but feel that was...weird. Especially the idea of Howdy selling Sally a bunch of actual junk and calling it food. Sure, he seemed eccentric but he wouldn't sell anything to a friend that could actually hurt them just for a quick buck! Heck, he doesn't even take money! What reason would he have to fleece Sally, much less recklessly endanger her like that? Than there's Poppy and Frank with their...muffins? I mean, they're baked in Muffin Tins but they're just an amalgam of seeds and peanut putter from the sounds of things! And aside from the Peanut Butter it doesn't sound edible, it sounds more like a cartoonishly exaggerated idea of what a Giant Puppet Bird would eat from an aesthetic perspective, not so much a realistic one.
My guess is the Puppets don't have access to actual food. They probably couldn't even eat actual food! They're puppets! Everything they "Eat" are arts-and-craft amalgams or props of what would look like food for a show!
It would also put more focus on when Frank said "You eat with your eyes first." Whether he knew it or not, that's literal! It doesn't matter if it's actual food, just if it looks like it!
The only thing that could disprove this theory are the decomposing vegetables in his garden. Wheras every other bit of food we've seen could be written off as meant to look like food and not act like it, his torn up peppers and tomatoes look fairly realistic. That being said, they also don't look decomposed either. They look like they were freshly torn into and just plopped onto the ground. But at the same time, it's hard to say. Now, what does this imply? So what if the Puppets are eating fake food? Well, it's just a hunch, but I think this adds credence to the idea that the world the Puppets exist in is fake and manufactured, like the show they supposedly come from.
Another detail in the Bug Videos is that, as opposed to the Lost Media that was posted onto the website, the Bug Videos are far more candid and calm. They feel more like Slice of Life segments than they do cut up moments from the show!
I think this is meant to imply two things! 1. The Puppets in Welcome Home are real. And I mean that as in, they aren't just puppets. They have feelings, emotions, and they do things when the cameras aren't rolling. They have lives outside of the show they're a part of and broadcasted at towards children. 2. This world is fake, and was made by someone. More than likely the Playfellow Workshop. Whether or not this is a literal world the staff made, or simply that the Puppets see the sets they live in as a world and the Playfellow Workshop does a good job to prevent the puppets from being Truman Show'ed is another thing. Heck, maybe it isn't even the Playfellow Workshop! Maybe it's another third, unknown entity we have yet to encounter! Either way, I get the feeling this theme of the Puppets being in a Fake World, as well as the details of Wally pushing past the fourth wall of reality, imply that the story takes place in two realities: The real world, and the puppet world, and that the main conceit of the story and the horror come from how the two worlds blur together.

Download - Plants
Round 30 - 32
Poppies! The poppy is well known in its uses of pain relief, mild sedatives, and relaxants. It’s also used for treating coughs and even makes an appearance in cosmetics. Creative cooks can use poppy seed for cakes and pastries, and the oil can be used to make soap, paint, and varnish.
[Notes will be copied to further posts, considering they're all the same facts]
Notes:
These are giant fields. They are meant to fill empty space in CAW/Edit town - you can use them on lots, but as stated they are quite large so if you decide to use them as lot decoration hold onto your hat because they're gonna take up a chunk of ground.
I will be making smaller/single plants to match the fields, but it takes time so please be patient.
These are speedtree plants, so they'll "follow you" when you move around. However consider that any recolors of these plants will become a default replacement unless you make the package unique. So if you would like to recolor them to suit your current world, feel free to, but please make it it's own package so they don't override the original.
These are fairly large but have low polycount - coming in at 330 polys each. That means you can have several of these in one area without weighing down your game too much. That's a win for everyone.
Please feel free to tag me if you use them in your world, I love to see them in your games! <3

Chamomile - chapter 3
Chapter 3: Blue Flames
When Geralt woke up, there was a small cup of tea next to 3 slices of what smelled like lemon poppyseed cake and a candle with a note propped against it. He sat up and grabbed the note, also snagging a piece of the poppy seed cake to munch on.
I’m doing a morning ritual right now, so please when this candle goes out, knock on the right door. If you would like to bathe, if you walk downstream a little bit there’s a dip in the creek that I use for washing, you’ll find everything you need there. Please take this candle with you, don’t worry it can’t be blown out by the wind.
Geralt stretched and rolled out his neck, taking a quick sniff of himself. Yes, he needed a bath. He finished the poppyseed cake and downed the tea, then set off to the stream. Y/N had been right, about a minute walk downstream led to a small alcove that was cover by a rock ledge to keep prying eyes away.
A giant log had been pulled closer to make it easier to get the supplies out and had a cutout with few towels and a washrag with a bar of soap on top of it.
Geralt undressed and stepped in. What he wasn’t expecting was the water to alight with a periwinkle flame and bubble to a warmer temperature, it was a surprising change, causing the Witcher to well, fall in headfirst, lacking the gracefulness he usually had on the battlefield.
“At least the birds are the only ones to witness my moment of embarrassment.” He mumbled in the water. He suspected Y/N must use enchantments to make the water not so cold, he only wished she had warned him beforehand.
Geralt washed quickly and dried off, redressing and heading back to the house. As he walked, the candle in his right hand went out. He quickened his step and went to the front door, walking in and going over to the door opposite Y/N’s room. He knocked softly on the door, waited a moment and then heard a small “come in!”
“Oh thank you Geralt, sometimes I get carried away and it’s not that often that I can rely on someone else to tell me when times up.” Y/N sat in a small circle that had been carved into the floor, around it were markings in chalk and candles lit, each burning a different color flame.
“The stream, it uh, turned—“ Y/N gasped, “Turned warm and a periwinkle flame danced on top?”
Geralt nodded and Y/N threw her head back and laughed. “Oh boy, I’m sorry Geralt, I should have warned you.” She stood up and walked into the kitchen, Geralt followed her out and went to his armor, putting it back on and packing up.
Y/N turned to him with a quizzical look, “What are you doing?”
“The beast is dead, though I don’t know where it came from, usually ghouls stick to cemeteries and cryp—“ “Oh! On the north side of the forest, there used to be a cemetery a couple centuries back, I think the town was massacred or a natural disaster wiped them out. But, there’s a crypt in it that is probably still intact, I bet that’s where it was staying.”
Geralt took a deep breath and let it out, “Well, that’s a mystery solved. I’ll be leaving now, I have nothing further to do here, and I have a horse to bail out.” She was going to comment on the horse remark, but decided not to. Instead she said, “Let me sort the coin out and let you have your share then.”
I don’t know why I’m bummed out. I guess this is the most exciting thing that’s happened to me in a while…
Y/N went to grab the bag but Geralt put his hand out on her shoulder. The touch was new, but not unwanted. His hand was warm against her skin despite the layer of cloth that divided them. The air suddenly grew a bit denser, and Y/N thought he noticed it too.
In a very soft voice, one she didn’t know could hold such gentleness, he said, “There’s no need, having a roof over my head last night was repayment quite enough.”
He removed his hand and nodded a farewell.
Y/N stood at the open door and watched Geralt walked off into the forest as a light drizzle started to float down, enveloping him like a rainfall curtain, making him disappear into the early morning.
Y/N watched him until she couldn’t see the shine of his lovely white hair—
Lovely? When did it become lovely hair??
She shook her head at the thought and closed the door. She had other things to do, important things.
I wonder if I’ll ever see the great Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, again…
-3 years later-
Screams engulfed the air as fire raged the town.
The clash of swords was loud and horrid. Bodies were scattered throughout the village, flipped over with their eyes gouged out. Mutants ripped apart small children and ghouls feasted on the particularly sweeter flesh.
“Geralt! Geralt!!” A bard called out after bashing a mutant with his now broken lute that had been, even cut in half, crawling towards the musicians hiding spot. The Witcher wielded his mighty sword and sliced the supposed leader of the monster’s head off that had been cornering a woman and her babe.
“What Jaskier?! Don’t you see I’m a bit busy here?!” Geralt grunted.
An explosion brought Geralt’s attention to a nearby pub that was now engulfed in flames. “Oh fuck,” He knew where he was now.
A memory of her face laughing flashed before his eyes. But no time to think about that now. He turned back to the situation at hand and cut his way through the chaos.
“What is it now Jaskier?” Geralt crouched down behind the barrels where his flamboyant travel companion hid.
“Well uh, I don’t mean to burst your bubble of glorious sword-swinging and all that but I think you’ve got some competition and it looks like they’ve already won.”
The bard nodded his head towards the newcomer, Geralt turned his head to see what looked like an angel floating above the town.
This person was, as it looked, glowing with a blue light that spread out to give the illusion that they might be a shooting star, fallen from the heavens.
All at once, the monsters that had been tormenting the town simply vanished into thin air. Just dust flowing into the wind, the fires died out with a wave of their hand and suddenly the town was quiet.
Geralt and Jasper stood slowly as the person descended to the ground.
Geralt, sword still in hand, walked toward this strange ethereal being. Jaskier followed at a close distance, poking his head out from behind the security of his rather beefy friend. Once the person finally stood upon solid earth the light died down and Geralt could see it was a woman.
“Oh hello! Thank you so very much for saving us—“ Jaskier started up the moment he could see the feminine figure; but he was cut off when the person looked up and Geralt’s face formed several emotions at once, surprise, confusion, and wonder.
“Y/N?”
The woman smiled kindly and step towards the two men, now only her eyes still a vibrant blue.
“Hello Geralt, it’s wonderful to see you again.”

Moar soap for my Etsy shop! They’ll be up for sale before black friday.
Salty Dog is a marbled sea green/blue with a whispy white shea butter base. It’s really hard to see in the pictures, but the light makes the soap look green or blue depending on the angle. The sent is Bay Rum! Nice and Spicy and a good smell for buccaneers.
Grandma’s Kitchen has actual poppy seeds in it! It’s a really nice massagy type feeling with all those little seeds. Plus it’s environmentally safe. Like what it looks like, it is a lemon poppy seed tea cake scent, with butter-creme frosting on the top! I mean, what grandma doesn’t have poppy seed cake sitting around lol?
Just two more soaps to make and I’ll have the physical part done getting ready for the shop!

I live in Easton, Connecticut, a small town of about 8,000 people. We are proud of our rural, suburban character and our many acres of protected fields and woods. Many of us cling to our strict residential only zoning laws because we want to preserve the beauty and character of our town. There is no main street or any street at all for that matter. But there are several working farms in town. There are also four farm stands that have expanded into larger, more diverse stores. In addition, we have an old inn that is now just a breakfast and lunch restaurant. We have also had two general stores since the 1920’s or 1930’s. Recently, these two stores have modernized. One, The Easton Village Store, became a deli that also sells pizza and some essential grocery items.
The other just reopened after a major transformation and is now my favorite place in town. It’s called Greiser’s after the two generations of store owners. I remember Greiser Sr. from my childhood. The Post Office was part of the general store and Mr. Greiser was both postmaster and store manager.
Post Office when I was a child with Greiser Sr. behind the bars
I was thrilled as a kid that my grandfather would let me hold the mail when we went to the post office. But I was nervous that I might drop some of it into the pickle barrel that sat between me and the post office boxes.
The store when I was a child
When the son, Richard (my age) took over the store around the 1980’s, he petitioned the town to move the post office into its own room, attached to the store. After much wrangling with the zoning board, he was finally granted a zoning variance and the Post Office declared its independence!
Richard standing next to one of his ‘antiques’
Richard continued to sell a smattering of supermarket items. He also had a small deli counter and sold lots of sandwiches to workmen in the area. But his real passion was ‘antiques’ – old stuff, the kind of items which are closer to junk than heirlooms. He collected lots of old stuff and started a side business. He had interesting things like an old gas pump, old phones and typewriters and a full-size carousel horse I adored!
A sad aside – Richard was divorced and subsequently fell in love with the Post Office manager. They married and were very happy together for many years. Then she died suddenly from a massive heart attack in the post office, right next door to her husband. Richard has recently decided to retire and neither of his two children wanted to take over running the store. So he rented the front rooms of the store and kept the back room for his antiques.
The woman he rented to, Adriane, decided to totally reinvent the space. She turned it into a ‘gourmet’ country store and coffee shop. It also sells miscellaneous items like candles and soaps, blankets and aprons and trendy teas. It has a distinctly upscale country vibe.
The décor is warm, comfortable and rustic. There are places to sit down to enjoy your coffee, both inside and out, in an armchair or at a table. And there is still friendly conversation, with Adrianne and with other customers. The experience is still small-town intimate.
But the food is high-end city. The refrigerator section houses vitamin waters, fancy cheeses, cultured butter, frozen pasta and packed, marinated vegetables. The teas and coffees served are in the cappuccino, macchiato, espresso, matcha and chai latte vein.
The baked goods are delicious croissants – almond for sweet and bacon and egg, ham and cheese and spinach and ricotta for savory. The cakes and muffins are flavors like orange spice, morning-glory, and almond poppy-seed. The ‘sandwiches’ are paninis, like Brie and fig preserves on whole grain, locally baked bread.
The funny thing is that The Easton Village Store and Greiser’s are no more than two miles apart. But they are in and represent, two totally different demographics. They are worlds apart.
The Village Store is in the one-acre zoned part of town, which is more suburban and middle class. It’s food tastes run more toward the deli and salad counter at the local supermarket. Simple and traditional. Greiser’s is in the three-acre zoning area and is more rural and upper middle class. Food tastes here run more high-end urban. More Whole Foods than Shoprite.
Adriane behind the counter
I’m thrilled with the new Greiser’s. I love the vibe and the food. I’ll be even more excited when their chef (yes, they have a real chef) starts making cooked meals for dinner take-out.
I never thought I would be able to sit in a comfy chair and enjoy a cappuccino or latte just one mile from my home! (I tried making them at home but without a foam machine, it doesn’t really work).
Comfy chairs at the front window
So one small part of my town is slowly inching its way into a more urban, 2018 food culture. Easton now has a place to go with atmosphere, personality, and charm as well as good food and good conversation. Now I can have a touch of urbanity in my otherwise rural life.
Three Cheers!
CAPPUCCINOS CAME TO TOWN By ELLIN CURLEY I live in Easton, Connecticut, a small town of about 8,000 people. We are proud of our rural, suburban character and our many acres of protected fields and woods.

Culinary school so far
Okay so I have to say a few things about my month in culinary school thus far because you see and hear the stupidest things imaginable. Week 1: Every class we walked around the kitchen to see where everything thing is. In baking class we were suppose to make cookies but a girl passed out in class and we had to wait for the fire department to come and check her out so no cookies. Other then that pretty mellow. Week 2: Pantry which is a class were they teach us how to make salads and dressings and a lot of cold stuff. We had to make a salad they came out good. Then I have intro into baking. So I know that I should know that there are people in the class that have never baked before. But there are some things that should just make sense. So we are making a sugar dough for a tart shell and the mix is looking dry. I wish that I just trusted my gut and add more egg to make it moist. But I didn't because I didn't want to over step. So I am cleaning up my tools and my partner has started the lemon cream. So he throws the lemon, cream cheese, and sugar in the food processor. But he doesn't grab anything else that goes in the lemon cream. No lemon zest, no salt, no nothing else that the recipe calls for. So I go rushing around the kitchen to get the rest of the stuff so the cream doesn't go bad. But all in all the tart came out really good. Let's move in to cooking 1 shall we. This class bugs me the most not because it's cooking and I'm a baker. Oh no it is because of the people in the class. They don't listen to the teacher and they don't even follow the recipes. At the end of each class they post a cleaning duty list with your name under the job you are suppose to do. And one girl that is in the class said that she didn't know how to do the dishes. Okay one if you passed Sanitation and safety which you had to or else you wouldn't be allowed in the class. They explain with pictures in the book how to do the dishes. And two have you never done dishes at home. You get the crap off then was it with soap, rinse off and dry. Then a girl who works in a bakery cut her finger like two seconds into class. So I said "don't you work with knives at work?" She says other then cutting the cakes no. " You don't cut fruit or fan strawberries or anything like that?" "No." Other then that stuff went smooth. Week 3: So in pantry this week was a little stressful. We were doing fruit salads. One of them had Kiwis and I am allergic to Kiwis so that was stressful. But my team was cool and kept everything separate so that nothing would mix together and cause a issue. Baking on the other hand made me want to tear my hair out. The teacher has us rotate partners each week. And let me say the partner I had was a nightmare. We made challah bread and she had one up on my last partner because she actually got all the ingredients together. But that's where it ends. It's hard to describe the stuff that she was doing. But let me say that anything that Chef demo'd she did the complete opposite of. So we get everything proofed and ready to go in the oven. Chef says to egg wash the bread and then put seeds on it if we want. So I was putting some seeds on some and was going to leave some plain because I had plans for the bread outside of class. But before I know it my partner puts a sesame/poppy seed mixture on all the rest of the rolls. Then gets offended when I said that I did not want seeds on all of my rolls. I'm sorry I did not know that you were queen bee and everything had to be your way. But then when it came to the loaves she went to the extreme and left them all plain. Nice way to be passive aggressive. Week 4: Monday was a holiday so no school. So Mom and I went on a chocolate factory tour. That is still food related learning right? But I still had cooking 1. It was a clusterf**k let me tell you. There are more people then there is workable stove space so we all had to reach over each other to be able to cook anything and having to reach over hot burners not fun. No major disasters though other then people not knowing that they aren't the only people in the kitchen. You say behind and they don't move so that you can get by. They also don't know how to make it so that when we all need to get the same ingredients they don't know how to share. And the major face palm moment was when the same girl that didn't know how to do the dishes was assigned to the dishes. I was throwing some dishes into the dishwasher when she had to put stuff through too. Keep in mind she was standing right next to me when I pushed my tray through. I go to walk away and she starts freaking out going wait wait don't go anywhere I don't know how to do this. Bitch did you not just watch me push my tray through. So I tell her just push the tray towards the front of the machine and it should catch and will come out the other side. She looks terrified as she does it. Bonus of the night Chef said that the plate I did with my partner was the best looking one. Chef also said that one of my sauces looked really good. Yay! Now we are caught up to this week. In pantry more salads but this time they were entree salads. The class went fairly smooth. But one girl as I was doing my personal dishes threw way a towel in a bag. And she gave me attitude when I said what are you doing that is someone's property don't just throw it outBaking we made dinner rolls and thank the lord it was an individual assignment. But Chef was getting so frustrated because again people were just doing whatever they wanted. We got out of class an hour late because of it. Oh and the girl that wanted to throw out someone's towel got all her rolls stolen. Karma I think so. But it was also that people do not listen and people started taking rolls off trays even though the trays had our names on them. And then there was cooking 1. Again a clusterf**k because we are moving a lot of hot things and people do not move when someone says behind or hot behind. Trying to get ingredients is a nightmare. Had to reach over two burners to reach mine and burnt my arm in the process. And my favorite things of the night was I watched a girl double dip her tasting spoon. She tasted it then put the spoon back in to taste again. No what the hell are you doing. What is wrong with you that is a sin in the kitchen. We were cooking steak. While waiting for a burner I watch a lady pick up the steak with her bare hand, put the steak in the pan, and never washed her hands after that. She cross contaminated the whole kitchen basically. And that folks is how I spent my birthday. I think I am going to do a post in the future about the type of people in my classes.

Citrus Poppy Seed Swirl Soap
I had so much fun creating these sunny, speckled bars. The idea was to create a swirl using texture—as opposed to colour—to differentiate the swirl from the rest of the soap. When I set out to make these bars it had been positively ages since I’d made soap. Who else gets sucked into those strange inertia loops where you haven’t done something in a long time, so you keep not doing it, and then BAM… it’s been months? That’s me and… so many things. Anyhow—as I brought the lye water and fats to trace and starting working with the batter I wondered why it had been so long. Soap making is far too fun to fall victim to the do-nothing inertia loop!

One of the first soaps I ever made was a lemon poppy seed soap, done up to look a bit like a loaf of lemon poppy seed cake. It was bright yellow thanks to the addition of some vibrant buriti oil, and was speckled throughout with wee black poppy seeds. I only recently chucked out the last one of those bars while moving—it had long since donned many dreaded orange spots, and had aged so much that every surface was concave (much like many of its c. 2011 brethren). Anywho—as I went through the dregs of my early soaping days I realized it was high time I made another poppy-seedy bar, so with poppy seeds + textured swirl on the mind, these bars were born.
I knew I’d need a pretty slow-tracing batter to give me time to create a more liquidy swirl, so I designed a batter that uses more liquid oils than my typical blends. I also worked a wee bit warmer than I usually do—just a titch above room temperature. While cooler batters do trace slower than hotter batters, I’ve found very cool batters start to thicken up faster than slightly warm batters. Slightly warm is where it’s at for working time.
The colour of these bars comes from the essential oil blend, so they’re really simple to make. Once I had the batter at a fairly light trace (it needs to be viscous enough to support the weight of poppy seeds) I blended in the essential oils and poured a quarter of it into another container. I stirred a healthy dose of poppy seeds into the quarter of the batter—enough that the seeded batter would contrast with the seed-free batter.
Given the liquidy state of the batter, and the fact that the poppy seed batter would need to be pretty concentrated to create a noticeable swirl, I decided to let the pour into the mold do the work rather than risking a pot swirl become too diffuse for the effect to be noticeable. I poured against a spatula to keep things from getting too mixed together; the poppy seed part is poured overtop about half of the non-poppy seeded batter, and then the remaining seed-free batter is poured down one side of the mold to create a swirl.
I gave the very liquidy batter about twenty minutes to set up before sculpting the top, and then left it to saponify and set up for three days. That’s a pretty long time according to general soaping guidelines, but with this softer blend of oils more time in the mold gave me a firmer bar that was easier to slice without accidentally damaging it. I made sure to slice it through the side so I didn’t drag the poppyseed topping through the bars.
Every slice looks different, but the final bars definitely have a noticeable cloud of nebula-like poppy seeds dancing through them. There’s been a bit of darkening around the seeds, so it looks a bit like a galaxy with a sort of glow around each star creating a cloud-like appearance. The bars smell wonderfully citrussy, and kept a bit of colour from the vibrant essential oil blend. I love ’em!

Citrus Poppy Seed Swirl Soap
25% coconut oil 25% tallow (wondering why?) 45% canola oil 5% castor oil
Calculate to 5% superfat
Per 500g oils:
Kick things off by calculating out your recipe for the amount of soap you’re making to get the finite amounts of the fats, lye, and water. Unsure about how to use SoapCalc? I made a video to walk you through it! Please ensure you’re familiar with standard soap making procedure before diving in (click that link if you aren’t!).
Prepare your mould—you’ll want a loaf mould for this soap. Melt your oils together in your soaping pot, and have a container with a pouring spout handy (I use these awesome funnel pitchers). Let your oils cool to slightly warmer than room temperature. Mix up your lye water and let that cool to about room temperature (you can use ice for part of your water to speed up the cooling process).
While everything is cooling, weigh out your essential oils.
Once the melted fats and lye water are just slightly warmer than room temperature, follow standard soap making procedure to bring them to a fairly light trace. Once you have a relatively thin trace, blend in the essential oils.
Now it’s time to divide up our batter! Pour about 25% of it into the small pitcher and stir enough poppy seeds into that portion to create a noticeable contrast with the remaining 75% of the batter.
Pour approximately half of the unseeded batter into the mould. Follow with the seeded batter, pouring it over a spatula relatively close to the surface of the batter in the mold to prevent too much mixing. Finish off with the rest of the unseeded batter, pouring it over a spatula, up against one edge of the loaf mold.
Once the batter has been poured, leave it for twenty minutes to thicken before sculpting the top and decorating it with some more poppy seeds—watch the video to see what I did.
Leave to saponify for 48–72 hours. Remove from the mould and slice, and then leave to age for at least four weeks before using or gifting. Enjoy!
