- Boi’s really surprised that you noticed every little thing he does for you. But his heart really swells at how you appreciate his small actions of affection.

52. A Return to the Institute

I was feeling crappy about the series again, and then I saw stuff you all said, and I feel better <3 I love everyone who reads this series <3

Logico goes back to the Institute - of course, the place where he first laid eyes on Irratino. It’s overgrown and dead (just like Irratino), and the only person there is a body… and the other people who work there. But ignoring that… the luxurious tree that smothered newcomers is immediately a dying wilt without the goat lord’s warmth, and no one wants to play mini-golf ever again. Oh right the body.

Raven flies around the lookout tower, circling it.

LOGICO: Like a vulture above its newest prey.

Onyx pokes around with a poking stick because she’s too short, until she sees Logico, and realizes what the real definition of short is. Meanwhile,

FLINT: I want Irratino’s money. He’s got so much of it!

He’s met with a swift kick to the nuts. Angry tiny man is not fucking around. 

Logi goes to pee, and his magnificent eye tears up as he remembers how he always used to go pee in the middle of an investigation, and see heartfelt messages written to him on the mirror… 

His heart nearly stops when he sees one. 

“The second shortest suspect had the hypnotic pocket watch.”

That… that’s something only Irratino would say. Logico breathes onto the mirror and writes a message of his own.

“Are you here?”

He prays that the mirror’s fog is a line of communication. But unsurprisingly, he doesn’t get a response. 

Guess the stupid murderer! The greedy bastard.

FLINT: The dude was LITERALLY carrying around a million dollars cash JUST ‘CAUSE HE COULD! I wanted to get SOME of that money, just SOME of it! And I would have, if not for you! Inspector Irratino willed this whole place to the guard who died, because he said he could be trusted!  LOGICO: His… will? He was so young… FLINT: Except that guard trusted ME! ‘Cause of my HYPNOTIC POCKET WATCH! And I used it to get him to put me on the will! And then, well, you’ve figured out what I did then. Haha. And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for you meddling short grown man!

Night was there the whole time (but no one noticed and that made them very sad), Onyx was poking at shit the entire time, and Raven was looking for love on the ground below. But Logico doesn’t care.

In fact, he ACTUALLY DOESN’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT A MURDER.

Another scene! In the full bit, a furious Nefario would barge in, but wouldn’t attack for fear of harming Gru. He would have to use his wits and somehow find a way to convince the villain to free his friend before engaging in the fight.

For this, I had thought of a bargain of sorts. A very tense and precarious one, where a game changing element would be brought to the table. I haven’t yet decided what that would be, but I might use said device again later. xP

I’ll be honest here, I’m currently looking for every possible excuse I can find to emphasize the scariness and sheer bulk of this enemy because I really think Sergio Pablos’s design would make for a perfect antagonist. 🤩

Encounter rates have been decreased from the original. That's greatly appreciated, since it makes traveling on foot much less of a grind.

I'm only 35 minutes in, and already my heart is just overwhelmed with nostalgia and deep appreciation for the adherence to the original games. I know there's tons of people who were disappointed that the Diamond and Pearl remakes were...well, remakes, rather than re-imagining, but for me, this is exactly what I have been yearning for from the Pokémon series for nearly 12 years now. For me, the Pokémon series has always been about reconnecting with my childhood, and these remakes are so perfectly capturing the joy and wonder of my first Pokémon adventure. And with Pokémon Legends: Arceus promising a completely new spin on the traditional Pokémon journey, I'm really happy they also made a point to preserve and re-release what was a lot of people's first experience with the series. I never wanted to have to give up one in order to have the other.

Anyways if you guys don't see me for another month, well, you know what I'm doing.

Okay u asked for more Jonah ideas so hold on tight 😂 the next one is Jonah trying to take Alice on a picnic date but everything goes wrong, he trips and she bandages him up, the food falls out of the basket and he didn’t get sleep the night before because he was nervous so Alice calms him down by laying down the blanket and cuddling him saying it was the thought that counts and it was sweet. 😭🤧 I need a man like Jonah

Oh God this is so cute and at the same time I can feel the pain Jonah would be feeling.

Alice probably said something during a late night conversation with Jonah, like idk probs wanted to explore more of Cradle or hang out in that field of flowers she’s never been, and it was just a random comment. She didn’t intend to mean anything by it.

But then a few days later, Jonah approaches her, basket in hand, and says “change into your outdoor clothes, we’re going on a picnic” and Alice is like “wha” but you know what, she’s lowkey excited and changes quickly.

She asks why a picnic so suddenly and Jonah’s like “you mentioned x days ago that you wanted to go to the field of flowers so I thought a picnic date would be nice” and Alice is like “God I love Jonah so much”

As they were going there, Alice notices that Jonah’s movements were more sluggish than usual and he wasn’t as alert as usual. So she gets concerned and is like “Jonah are you ok” and he’s like, “what? Of course I am, why wouldn’t I be” and she’s like still concerned but doesn’t press

Because the moment they got there, as Alice was admiring the view of the pretty pretty flowers, she hears a yelp and sees Jonah of all people tripping and oh no the food fell out of the basket.

“Oh my God Jonah are you ok????” Even though she knows very well that Jonah is not ok because he literally just tripped and he never trips.

“Yeah I’m ok, but the food......” Literally all the food fell out from the basket. Some sandwiches and desserts laid on the grass (oh no the poor mille-feuille!).

Welp there goes the picnic.

“And I worked really hard to make this all perfect, to the point I didn’t sleep at all last night, but now it’s ruined...”

Alice knew that tone well. She knows very well how much of a perfectionist Jonah is and knows that he would like things to be perfect from start to end. To see that things got awry, he feels really down and she could feel that pain. No one likes it when things get ruined after all the hard work they put into it.

She lays down the picnic blanket and both of them sit down. She gives him a big hug and says, “It’s alright Jonah, I’m still so happy you did this. Even if the food’s ruined, everything is still perfect.”

He’s all like, “How can you say something like that??” and Alice replies with, “Well I really just wanted to be in this field and all. And honestly, everything is still perfect because you’re here with me. I could be in the most beautiful field of flowers in the world with the best food ever, but if you’re not there, it might as well be the saddest view on earth and the food’s gonna taste like sand.”

“Tch... how can you just say things like that to me and make everything better? ... What have I done to deserve you?”

And he stays in her embrace for some time, the breeze brushing her locks of hair and caressing her face.

She feels an unexpected weight on her shoulder and she sees Jonah leaning his head on her shoulder, eyes closed. For the sake of him not getting a stiff neck and her shoulder not hurting later, she adjusted him so he sleeps on her lap.

He really needed the rest after losing sleep.

It was funny how Jonah is like asleep vs when he’s awake. He’s quite playful with Alice, almost devilish, and serious with his soldiers and colleagues when he’s awake, but asleep, he had the face of an angel, free from his responsibilities. Her chest tightened at how precious he looked, and she felt her eyes ready to cry at this blessed sight.

She looked up to the sky and whispers to herself, “Jonah, you ask what you’ve done to deserve me, but really, what have I done to deserve you?”
