I'm gonna go for a quick run
Being on space stations is all well and good fun. And work. And people. Most of whom you like. And snacks. God, space snacks are the best, half the time the Aliens who bring them are like:
"We read this may be poisonous to Huma
They never get a chance to finish that sentence before I grab whatever it is and munch it down. Pretty much every time it's real spicy or oddly invigorating, it's a nice pastime learning what everyone's shocked expressions look like. Okay, I've had to go to the clinic a few times, and one time I was in a coma for two weeks, but I'm still alive and kicking!
There is the downside of all the noise when everyone talks. The translator unit does dampen to almost nothing everything it translates, but my left ear is sensitive so I tend to take that unit off whenever I'm off the clock. Let me tell you, when everyone is used to hearing everything in their tongue at normal volumes, many end up developing a much louder natural voice.
It gets real confusing sometimes. One thing I have begun to notice is the accents - everyone has very distinct ones. The translator normally renders in a neutral tone, and only adds a slight tinge for the more culturally prominent accents so people understand they are from a different major section of their respective race. But without it, there's so much to each language. At this point I can recognize twenty different clicking sounds that are the same word for this one species.
However, the cafeteria is a hellhole. A radio emitting white noise in a blender that's being microwaved is a peaceful and melodic tune compared to the mixture of thousands of every conceivable noise an organic creature could make. And many more I thought they couldn't - what kind of nightmare anatomy makes a sound that I can only describe as a sickly polystyrene foam mule getting squeezed in a rusty vice.
What kind of ears think that sounds okay?
What kind of noise do they make when making l
actually I don't wanna think about that
I'm just...
gonna go for a run now.

It was Human Hanson. He was in his protective suit. Running in laps.

Pearl of the East China Sea
Here we have the brightest boy in Jinling City - Zhang Zhehan as the young Lin Shu from Nirvana in Fire.
The inspiration for this fig is pulled from several different places in the show, but the primary inspiration was brief flashback scene near the end of Episode 40. It's been cut out on the version on YouTube, but it is watchable on Viki, starting at 39:00 in the episode. I can't download it from Viki, but I do have a small clip I downloaded from somewhere years ago that plays out this scene:
Apologies for the lack of attribution, I am not sure who originally posted this.
I took a couple screenshots in better definition so you can see more of the detail:
I hate to admit this, but I have not watched Nirvana in Fire yet despite it's epic reputation. BUT I'm hoping to start next week! I have a long flight ahead of me and plenty of time to get started on it's 54 episodes.
I loved this clip when I saw it because of how delightful it was - the young Lin Shu is adorable, with a smile that can really can light up the city.
He arrived safely tucked into his polystyrene box. The little cutout to the right side of him didn't have anything in it. My guess is that it was originally for his lantern, but (very thankfully) it came pre-installed. We won't need to have me sweating over trying to carefully slide it into his little hand.
The pearl is definitely as big as a chicken egg!
The (fish? frog? tadpole?) lantern in his hand is SUPER cute. It's also from the show as well, since I recall seeing a clip of him carrying it, but unfortunately I don't have a shot of it. When I watch the show I will keep an eye out for it, and come back and update this.
This is also a good angle to see the beauty mark on his left ear. This fig maker always adds the beauty marks to Zhehan and Gong Jun's ears.
The lantern is really too cute. Look at the little feet! I'm a complete sucker for those claymation animals with the googly eyes, and this totally reminded me of it. I'm so, so grateful that this didn't arrive broken and once again that I didn't have to wrangle glue on it to stick it into his hand.
The scales on the lantern! Such great detail.
I love figs with cloaks. Here you can see the little bit of detailing for the fur trim.
As you can tell by the fig stand, this little guy did not stand up on his own. You might think the weight of that enormous pearl might drag him forward, but no, the weight of his head kept tipping him back. I glued him down right away - no chance of this little cutie falling and breaking something!
He's not in his full armor here like he was in the clip, he's wearing clothes that Lin Shu wears elsewhere. I think it was a good call by the fig maker to have the clothes be recognizable enough without being overpowering. It really allows the pearl and the lantern to take center stage.
I love this fig, I think he's just so cute.
The fig maker really captured the youthful roundness of his face, and rendered his hair perfectly. The detail on the fur trim on his cloak is subtle but very nice. Just a great execution all the way around.
He's wearing black pants tucked into his black boots, but it's a little difficult to see due to the color.
It's easier to see from this angle.
You can see more detail on the guan here, and we have a nice shot of his hand holding the pearl and the googly eyes on the lantern.
I like the hair a lot on this fig, it's a great look.
This fig maker always has great box card art, and you can see the name of the fig here - Pearl of the East China Sea.
Material: Resin
Fig Count: 493
Scene Count: 31

Workshop: Available Light | Week Three.
-> Produce three photographs of the same interior scene that is lit by only domestic interior lighting. With each image use a different white balance setting – daylight (5000K), domesticlight bulb (3000K) and something inbetween.
How do these different light qualities impact on your image? What choices will you make that best serves your subject and its inherent possible ideas. At this point in time you may not be working with a particular idea or concept, however you will intuitively know how you want this space to be rendered by and through your camera. Compare these three photographs.
-> First photo was taken using daylight lighting/52000k, shadows are soft but still not much light coming into the photo.
-> Second photo was taken using shade lighting/70000k, shadows are much more darker and deeper but there is a warmth overtone to the photo.
-> Third photo was taken using tungsten lighting/32000k, shadows are much more dramatic and darker compared to shade. there is a cool, blue over tone to the photo.
Overall -> I like the warmth overtone that shade lighting brings, it reminds me of film and i think it'd be really cool to use in my photos. i also like the cool blue overtone of tungsten lighting and i think would be really cool to use in horror related creative photos. there is some hue to the daylight photo but i think it looks the same as normal but really cool to see.
-> Produce three photographs of a different interior scene that is lit by both domestic light bulb (tungsten) and daylight (through a window or two).
With each image use a different white balance setting – daylight (5000K), domestic light bulb (3000K) and something in between. How do these different light qualities impact on your image? How are the two different light sources being read in the final photographs? How can you create a transition between daylight and tungsten light?
-> First photo was taken using daylight lighting/52000k, the photo is quite equally balanced with the tones and bright. the lighting coming from the windows is reflecting but also the secondary lighting is leaving reflections as well.
-> Second photo was taken with shade lighting/70000k there is more warmth in the photo, kind of looks like the light coming from outside has dulled down.
-> Third photo was taken using tungsten lighting/32000k, more dramatic and cool. can't really see much light coming from outside but interior lighting is still reflecting off surfaces.
Overall -> I think the daylight lighting works really well with these photos but it was really cool to experiment with.
-> Set up a small still life within an interior space, lit by daylight through a door or window.
a. Photograph the still life as is - with no other light source.
b. Photograph the still life with the room light on (mixed light temperatures)
c. Photograph the still life without the room light and using a fill-in light to lighten the shadow area. To do this you will need to bounce daylight from the window or door onto a white surface that is angled sufficiently to direct the light into the shadow area.
Large pieces of white polystyrene do the job very well, or reflective photography umbrellas, a white sheet, or last but not least a white pillow.
The idea here is to redirect some of this precious light falling through the window or door (interrupt the light) to fill in the shadows, so as to create an image with as much detail as possible.

Flexible Packaging Market by Regions, Type & Applications During 2024-2030
Flexible Packaging Industry Overview
The global flexible packaging market size was estimated at USD 270.96 billion in 2023 and is expected to expand at a CAGR of 4.8% from 2024 to 2030. Increasing consumption of flexible packaging products in medical and pharmaceutical sectors is driving their demand. These products offer various advantages, such as container variety, need for less raw materials, ease of disposal, and lightweight nature, which are expected to fuel their demand over the forecast period.
Gather more insights about the market drivers, restrains and growth of the Flexible Packaging Market
According to the Flexible Packaging Association, nearly 34.7 million tons of all produced food is sent to landfills annually. Food waste generates 27.0 million tons of carbon dioxide. In addition, there are other indirect effects of food production on the environment, which include the greenhouse gases generated from cattle breeding, farm machinery, vehicles that transport food, and nutrient runoff from fertilizers that often lead to water pollution.
Extending food shelf life is necessary to reduce the amount of food waste dumped in landfills. Oxygen and moisture affect the freshness of food products, thereby rendering them unsafe for consumption due to mold formation on food products. The shelf life of food products depends on factors such as storage conditions, packaging material, and exposure to microorganisms, oxygen, light, and moisture.
The flexible packaging consists of plastic films with high barrier properties. The high-barrier properties efficiently block the transmission of moisture, light, and oxygen from contacting sensitive foods. Furthermore, the reseal closure products featured by flexible packaging allow users to securely close the bags or pouches, ensuring the freshness of the packaged food products over several uses.
Browse through Grand View Research's Plastics, Polymers & Resins Industry Research Reports.
• The global phthalic anhydride market size was valued at USD 4.52 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 3.8% from 2024 to 2030. This growth is driven by significant industrial chemicals used as starting materials for manufacturing various chemicals and polymers.
• The global low smoke halogen free flame retardant polypropylene market size was valued at USD 637.1 million in 2023 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 9.5% from 2024 to 2030. The market growth is attributed to the increased adoption of low-smoking halogen-free flame retardant polypropylene due to its low-smoking emission and environment-favoring properties.

Week 3:
Number One:
Produce three photographs of the same interior scene that is lit by only domestic interior lighting. With each image use a different white balance setting – daylight (5000K), domestic light bulb (3000K) and something inbetween. How do these different light qualities impact on your image? What choices will you make that best serves your subject and its inherent possible ideas. At this point in time you may not be working with a particular idea or concept, however you will intuitively know how you want this space to be rendered by and through your camera. Compare these three photographs.
Photo #1: 5000K
Photo #2: 4000K
Photo #3: 3000K
Comparing these 3 photos of the living room of my house, obviously these are set at different colour temps. From this littel exercise, it's best if I use a warmer (more daylight) Kelvin colour balance in order to get a better representation of what the living room actually looks like in the real world. Nowadays, cameras have really good auto white balance, but sometimes the camera will find it diffucult to know what Kelvin to settle on.
It's also easier to change your white balance in Post-Production, especially when shooting RAW, very easy to change the Kelvin of your white balance to get it to look right.
Number Two:
Produce three photographs of a different interior scene that is lit by both domestic light bulb (tungston) and daylight (through a window or two). With each image use a different white balance setting – daylight (5000K), domestic light bulb (3000K) and something inbetween. How do these different light qualities impact on your image? How are the two different light sources being read in the final photographs? How can you create a transistion between daylight and tungsten light?
Photo #1: 3000K
Photo #2: 4000K
Photo #3: 5000K
Number Three:
Set up a small still life within an interior space, lit by daylight through a door or window.
a. Photograph the still life as is - with no other light source. b. Photograph the still life with the room light on (mixed light temperatures) c. Photograph the still life without the room light and using a fill-in light to lighten the shadow area. To do this you will need to bounce daylight from the window or door onto a white surface that is angled sufficiently to direct the light into the shadow area. The idea here is to redirect some of this precious light falling through the window or door (interrupt the light) to fill in the shadows, so as to create an image with as much detail as possible.
Photo 1 with no artificial light.
Taken of my cousins stroller in the living room during noon. Clear skies and sunny. Quite dark in the area, but its a high dymanic scene so it's a good area to test out the difference when a white reflective piece of material bounces the light off back into the scene. Roughly 5000K colour temp.
Photo #2 with added artifical light, but does not make a difference.
Still quite dark in the area, but again, its a high dymanic scene so it's a good area to test out the difference when a white reflective piece of material bounces the light off back into the scene. Still Roughly 5000K colour temp.
Photo #3. no artifical light, but used my huge white sitting pillow to give a boost to the shadows. Big difference compared to the previous two images.

Here’s how they are helping to change the world and how you can help, too.
The traditional egg carton is a frequently-used packaging material that is made from polystyrene or Styrofoam materials and is widely used due to its lightweight and durable nature.
It can be noted that the conventional egg cartons, essentially the polystyrene (Styrofoam) or plastic, egg cartons bring a range of environmental issues with it. Unfortunately these materials do not decompose over time rendering them to be non–biodegradable thus adding to the common issue of plastic pollution. Once they are no longer useful, they are frequently thrown away and become a part of the world’s growing waste problem, remaining in our oceans and landfills for hundreds of years and polluting ecosystems and wildlife.
Since the pulp egg cartons are made from recycled material, there are several benefits associated with using them as follows.
Pulp egg cartons, specifically, are more preferable since they are made from recycled paper products and they are both biodegradable and compostable. This makes them a far superior choice for anyone who wants not only to save money but also to do their part to help the world around them. Pulp cartons are biodegradable, which when they are left in environments such as landfills, they disintegrate naturally into harmless by products that can fertilize the soil, consequently amounting to a lower landfill space usage and lower pollution. Pierre Fournier is proud to be an environmentally friendly company that incorporates sustainable measures in production. For our cartons, we use recycled paper and other bio-degradable materials and our manufacturing processes that follow the principles of using eco-friendly methodologies to reduce wastage and energy use. The convenience and practicality of the pulp cartons makes it easy for the consumers to dispose them responsibly through recycling wherein we also support the zero-waste initiative.
Making a Difference
It is for this reason, as a message to the public when using our eco friendly pulp egg cartons that you are making the right choice. To support this, you should also ensure that your used egg cartons are disposed by being recycled. To take it to the next level, make sure you recycle the egg cartons that you use. Reusing and recycling of the egg cartons that you use is very important in sustainability.
It is also important to note that while most curbside recycling programs will accept pulp cartons, it is always wise to call and confirm with the recycling facility that is in your area. Compost systems: While it is recommended not to place these pulp cartons in recycle bins, if you have a compost bin, then you can add an important ingredient to your pile, carbon material! Not only this but also investing our money in those brands that have adopted sustainability as their business strategy ensures availability of more sustainable products.
Conclusion
Poultry Cartons incline towards providing protection to the eggs but it is high time to switch to alternatives like Pulp Egg Cartons for better protection of the eggs as well as earth. When you make this small step, you are getting to be part of a bigger cause – which aims at the preservation of the environment. We came in strength and in unity to make the world a better place one egg carton at a time. This is why saving our resources, protecting nature and becoming a green society is part of our mission. So next time when you are planning to buy eggs, opt for Poultry Cartons and that would be an environment friendly egg pack.

Rose Jun
This outfit of Gong Jun's is one of my favorites ever. So did I shriek with joy when I saw this fig get posted for sale? Of course not. Not out loud!
Definitely inside my head. The initial howl of joy would have been a solid 160 barnbuster on the decibel scale, and that's just too loud for public consumption. Let's take a look at this beautiful inspiration, shall we?
Gong Jun was looking incredible between the pages of Madame Figaro magazine in September 2022. He was the first man ever on the cover of the magazine, and he had three covers! I bought all 3 of them, and I regret nothing.
Look at this suit. It's incredible. There's nothing I like better than roses on clothing, but I'm very picky about them - only the most beautiful of roses. These are definitely the most beautiful of roses. Look at that gorgeous deep red, edged in black, which further sets off the incredible ruby color. We have lusciously dark green stems, and this incredible silk? Wool? Cashmere? Something amazing draping elegantly around Junjun in a blue-black midnight hue.
Underneath is a black lace shirt, and...wait for it...
Did you see it? It's around the 5 second mark.
There's this incredible lace back on this suit! It is criminal we didn't get a photograph of this in the magazine. CRIMINAL.
It's a little difficult to see all the detail on the suit in the magazine picture, since the lighting is gorgeously shadowy. Here's the same picture with me removing a lot of that artful shadowing:
Now you can see a lot of detail here - the pleated cummerbund, more of the lace shirt since it pops more against his skin, and the lace cuffs at the wrists. This definitely looks more like silk here, maybe a silk / linen blend? The suit is by a brand called GCDS, and I looked them up to see if I could find any further details about this suit, especially pictures of the back. He looks so good in this suit - it fits him perfectly. Look how gorgeous that fits him. Just outstanding.
The suit is from their Fall 2022 / Winter 2023 collection, which was, interestingly enough, inspired by Dracula.
Here is "Look 24" from their fashion show, where we can see more detail, especially with the pants. I had no idea there was a matching hat!
Here's another view, this time of the back:
The money I would pay to have seen this angle on Gong Jun, I tell you.
I would buy this suit in a heartbeat, if I had any idea how to get it, and if I wouldn't have to cut so much off the hems that the bottom of the cargo pants would touch the floor. As it is, I have it in miniature fig form!
My favorite is when figs are in little plastic bags in their polystyrene mailing boxes. They are still wedged firmly in, but just slip right out vs me cutting into the plastic foam. I also feel like they're less prone to breakage this way even when packed at the factory, but that may just be me.
Here he is, looking dapper as can be! This was not an easy fig for the factory to make - the fig maker spent a lot of time with them getting it just right.
There's a lot of details on this fig - we have the cummerbund, the lace at the cuffs, and you can see the bit of the lace shirt under the suit jacket.
I love the 3-D effect of the roses!
And oh, what is this? Could it be?
The lace back! Amazing. We can see the cummerbund fastener here too.
Here's a close up of that wonderful lace back.
This looks so good. I love the wrapped angle on the back of the jacket.
I don't love the cargo pants on the original suit - I think it drags the eye down from the beautiful drapery of the jacket, but what do I know.
She rendered Junjun's spiky hair here beautifully!
I love the details on the shoes here too. The pose matches the Madame Figaro pose exactly.
I take it (partially) back, the cargo pockets look pretty cool on the fig - gives it a bit of interest.
What a great suit. I wish it came in women's sizes.
Not much to see on this angle - just a bit of the roses peeking out!
The fig came with a very supermodel-ly Gong Jun keychain! I love it.
Dual sided keychain. He looks so good! I would have taken an entire magazine of just shots of him walking around and posing in this suit, let me tell you.
