This is super cool!
Reminds me of visiting the Solar Decathlon on the National Mall back in 2009. I should post photos of that some time.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Honestly, Cosmo Canyon's become such a tourist hotspot since the event. Bugenhagen's just opened up the gates and has started hosting tours around the Cave of the Gi. Even shifted Seto's statue into the main square. Nanaki's not pleased."
FF7 art for the lovely @tomedook! Thanks again! <3

May I... humbly suggest #17 for the ask meme 👀
The Outlaw's Labor (Wild West AU)
Prompt: "I really need to change position"
Characters: Fawn/Newt/Hassan, in a poly marriage. ((Newt & Hassan both belong to @mittysins))
Context: Fawn is the leader of an outlaw gang, and just so happens to be the only woman among them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If there was anything Fawn could appreciate about the desert, it was the transformation it made after dark. The unrelenting sun would shatter into twinkling silver pieces all across the sky, the burning sand would become a cool ocean of silk, and the lonely wind came alive with the sounds of nighttime critters.
Fawn heard the wail of a lone coyote somewhere off in the distance. It was separated from its pack, and that made them kindred spirits. She glanced down the hill at the dying embers of the campfire below her, and at the circle of men sleeping around it. Her own empty bedroll lay open in the formation of snoring bodies, between the two boys she'd taken as her husbands.
A small smile graced her lips as she watched her lovers' slumber from afar. Newt had placed his Stetson over his face while his head rested back on his saddle. Hassan lay curled on his side, his long brown hair pulled into a ponytail and the handle of a shiny revolver nestled in his fist. Fawn wondered how the man could be such a ball of nerves but still sleep so close to a loaded weapon.
Her hands moved to cradle the underside of her greatly swollen belly, its curve hardly contained by the fastenings of her shirt. The denim didn't have much give to it and -- even though it was one of Hassan's shirts -- it just barely fit her gravid bump . . . especially now that labor had dropped it low and heavy on her frame. The only sign of pain throughout Fawn's entire being was the shallow sway of her hips as she felt the next contraction starting.
She'd been "keeping watch" atop that hill for a few hours, laboring quietly to herself while gazing down the length of the canyon. It weren't no secret she was keeping; hell, her boys had known the baby was on its way since that afternoon. She'd mostly kept her discomfort to herself all day, until her husbands had asked what was wrong.
Newt had convinced her to make the gang camp early, to give herself plenty of time off Sidewinder's back before labor got too deep. She was grateful he'd talked some sense into her, because she'd been much deeper in labor when they made camp among the hoodoos than she'd been letting on.
It's not that the labor didn't hurt -- it sure as hell did! -- it just wasn't anything Fawn found herself unable to handle. Her reactions to the intensifying pain were so mild, her gang was under the impression her labor had only recently begun. Why cause a stir by correcting them? What on God's earth were those lawless men supposed to do with that information?
While the men of her gang sat around drinking and playing rounds of cards until sunset, Fawn and her husbands had moved to a more private area of the canyon -- where she could feel free to labor away from gawking eyes. Well, except four of 'em.
For the five hours the gang had lollygagged around camp before nightfall, Hassan and Newt had never left her side -- Hassan, especially. He was the one who had gotten her pregnant, there was no mystery there, and he took that responsibility as seriously has he handled his guns.
Hassan's hands trembled with anxiety every time Fawn furrowed her brow in pain, and he'd startled at every tiny groan she uttered. For such a talented and imposing gunslinger, he could act as frightened as a rabbit in a jackal's den. His fear was evident in the fact he never laid a hand on her -- he'd been hesitant to touch her in any way since he learned about the pregnancy, as if she'd suddenly become made of glass. Instead, he'd stood a few feet away and annoyed her with constant suggestions on how to make her labor "easier" -- all of which were total nonsense. Where he got the idea that drinking water somehow opened the womb, she'd never know.
Newt was a more hands-on in his support, offering his wife reassuring backrubs while she rested between contractions. Naturally, he had more innate sympathy to the kind of pain she was experiencing; but he was a bit over-eager to help ease it. He seemed to be under the impression that digging his hands into her sides somehow eased the pain -- when it, in fact, made it much worse. During a contraction, Fawn had needed to bark at him several times to stop touching her before he finally got the message. After that incident, Fawn just wanted to be left alone.
For all their sweetness, her boys had really started to try her patience by the time the stars came out. She'd managed to convince them to sleep for a while -- assuring them that once her labor "started picking up", she'd wake them.
Yeah . . . she never had any intention of doing that.
She'd brought a child into the world before, her husbands hadn't -- but goddamn, if they didn't act like they knew better than her. As the one most experienced in childbirth out of that whole gang of ruffians, Fawn qualified to be her own doctor. She knew what the subtle cues of her body meant as it slowly worked her new baby out of the womb -- that ancient language of birth between mother and child.
"Oh, you're fixin' to come out before sunrise," Fawn thought, internally speaking to her baby. She rocked her hips a bit wider, a huff of air leaving her nostrils as she felt the harsh pinch of her cervix being pulled further over the mass of her child.
The contraction faded away, and the outlaw leader rested her back against a rough pillar of stone -- one of hundreds surrounding their campsite. Auburn ringlets of her hair had escaped the pinned updo she tamed her curls in, falling loose throughout the day's sweat and toil; but now, even in the chill of the night, they clung to the back of her neck.
"Actually," Fawn thought, "you might be comin' a lot sooner than that."
Ever since that morning a pressure had been rolling into her hips like a thunderstorm on the horizon, getting louder and deeper every hour. Now, it was barreling over her.
Another contraction started less than a minute after the last one. Fawn pressed her lips together and furrowed her brow, her hands continuing to support the weight of her low-hanging belly. She felt the heft of her child moving down. With her own hands, she felt the rough outline of its shoulder resting just above the bony squeeze of her pelvis.
"Mmm-hmm, you're comin' a lot sooner than that."
Fawn shuffled around the edge of the rocky pillar, hiding herself from the view of camp behind an outcrop at its base. Her hands moved from her underbelly to her belt buckle as she doubled over with a breathy groan -- the contraction reaching its peak of intensity and refusing to let up. She shimmied her trousers and undergarments down to her knees and held herself in a supported crouch against the jagged rock, her hands splayed out to either side of her.
Lightning flashed behind her eyelids as they closed tight. The pressure was thundering and insistent, pounding on her bones with every heartbeat. Then, the storm inside her finally broke.
Fawn let out a soft sigh of relief when she felt her bag of waters rupture. The immense pressure lessened in an instant as a gout of hot fluid hit the cool sand with a dull splash. Fawn let her head lull back, thankful to the Lord above that she'd thought to remove her trousers before it happened; they were her only pair.
She had no hope of getting her boots and pants off in her condition -- her boys had needed to help her with that for weeks -- so why fret over it? Besides, this would make it easier for her to hike her clothes back up and head into camp once she was done. There was no reason to be indecent around her men . . . her authority was threatened enough as it was by her pregnancy.
To outside eyes, she looked every bit a woman in a desperate plight: outlawed to the wastelands, a price on her head, laboring with no assistance, and preparing to give birth with her most of her clothes still on; but Fawn was the picture of serenity.
"Alright, rugrat, your cushion's gone. Can't be very comfy in there now," Fawn thought with a flood of anticipation. "Are 'ya ready to come out now?"
She gave a few experimental pushes as she felt the next contraction ramping up. With the third timid push, she felt the cold night air enter her canal as her body started to flower open.
"Ooh, yeah," Fawn thought, adjusting her stance to be wider, "you're ready."
When the contraction reached its peak, Fawn pressed her boot heels into the soil and bore down with all her might. She held her breath until she was lightheaded, stopped to exhale, inhaled, and pushed again. Her nails dragged against the rock as her fingers spiked to find better purchase.
Fawn was able to wring about three good pushes from each contraction, but she lost count of how many she endured -- they were starting to bleed into each other. Excess fluid dripped from her folds as she silently worked her baby down. One long, deep push had her skin bulging out obscenely, the head finally slipping down to fill up her canal.
Pressing her back harder against the pillar, Fawn lowered herself into more of a squat, allowing her to bring her hands around. She swiped away the pebbles digging into her palms and put both hands between her legs to explore her progress.
She didn't need a doctor to tell her what was going on, Fawn could feel it all for herself. Her vulva was hot to the touch and firm as a stone wrapped in skin -- everything flushed with blood and straining with the pressure that would soon force it to open.
The pad of her left middle finger accidentally dipped into her enflamed opening, and Fawn let out an involuntary gasp as she felt a bit of damp hair sitting just inside her stretched perineum.
"Oh! Hey'ya, rugrat," she said inside her head. A small chuckle left her dry throat. "I wasn't expectin' 'ya to be there, yet."
Unbidden tears pooled in her eyes, but she blinked them away. It didn't matter if she was in the middle of the desert without a bed or a home to call her own, she felt much more at ease giving birth here than she had her first go-around:
Long before her days as "Fawn", she'd married young -- far, far too young in hindsight -- to a much older man. Her beautiful little Mercy had been born when Fawn herself was still little more than a child, and it had been an agonizing ordeal. Her daughter was yanked into the world with forceps by a doctor who was far too rough. The tongs had left indents on her baby's soft skull for days, and they'd left bruises in their wake. All that pain, all that trauma for them both . . . only for whooping cough to steal her daughter from her arms within the year.
Fawn tilted her head to gaze up at the milky way, and wondered if Mercy was anywhere among those flecks of light. Just to be safe, she blew a kiss to the sky. Then, she readied herself to deliver her second-born.
She reached into the back pocket of her trousers, pulling out the flask she'd snuck out of camp with her. Fawn twisted off the cap with her teeth and drenched her hands in the whiskey. A subdued grunt was the only sound she made as she threw her hands between her legs and dove into another push.
The top of her baby's head began to appear. Fawn's fingerpad traced its shape as it forced her opening to stretch, until that little patch of hair was the rough shape of a teardrop. Fawn pressed her hands to either side of her labia, cradling the bulging near-crown. As she pushed, she held the skin open in preparation of what was to come. It wasn't long until a sharper grunt left her strained throat -- the baby's head stretching her in earnest with her most recent push.
Fawn tried to relax her body as the stinging burn of crowning began, but her thighs and back were aching from holding a squat for so long. She turned her eyes back to the stars as a focal point, admiring their heavenly glow while she bore down on her baby.
Her fingertips lightly pressed on each side of the slimy, squishy bubble of hair as it opened into a proper crown. Long, deep breaths were the closest thing to a scream Fawn allowed herself as the ring of fire branded her between the legs.
Wider, wider, wider, she opened. With each push her fingertips were pulled further apart. God, how much of a head did this child have?! She should've expected the child to be large, Hassan was a biblical giant of a man. She tried opening her legs to make room, but her trousers acted as shackles, only allowing her knees to move about a foot apart.
Fawn threw her head back, teeth clenched and eyes shut tight against the pain she was feeling in every inch of her body now. She tried standing up straighter, but her legs refused to close. Fawn blew out a loud breath from pursed lips as she gave into another desperate effort. She continued to prod at the reddened, stretched skin around the emerging head, hoping to peel as much of it back as possible to move things along.
When she felt a large, trembling hand touch her knee, she didn't need to open her eyes to see who it was that had found her. It was Hassan. She knew his touch very well . . . the evidence of that was currently being born. She'd missed it.
But if Hassan had managed to find her out there in the dark, then where was...?
"We're here, darlin'," a soft voice came from the other side of her. A smaller hand touched her shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze.
Ah, there was Newt.
Fawn blinked her eyes open. Once her vision adjusted, the light from the stars and half-moon were enough to see by. She saw the worried creases on the faces of her boys as they knelt in front of her.
"Evenin', fellas," Fawn croaked out. It was the first sentence she'd said aloud in hours, and her voice was parched as her tongue. "You're just in time. The 'lil anklebiter's makin' an appearance."
The boys glanced at each other and almost in unison craned their necks to see between her legs.
Newt's face twisted in an odd mix of shock and awe. "Lord Almighty . . ." he murmured.
Hassan's tanned face went so pale he reflected the moonlight like a mirror.
Fawn whined, bucking her hips as she felt another contraction rearing its ugly head. "Boys, I really need to change position," she said, her tone amazingly subdued for the situation. "I can't . . . can't open my hips enough. Get my trousers off."
The boys leapt into action. Hassan removed her boots with practiced ease and both helped pull her bunched-up trousers the rest of the way down her legs. Freed from her cloth prison, Fawn sank the rest of the way to the ground, her legs falling wide open and bracing on each side of the rocky outcrop.
"God, that's better," Fawn sighed, finally feeling some of her muscles relax.
When their crowning child was fully revealed to them, Hassan put his hand over his mouth and his shoulder slumped against the rock.
"Don't you dare go dark on me, Has," Fawn scolded, her words pinched and breathless as she pushed into her hands. She paused to take in a huge gasp of air. "This is your doin', remember?"
It was as if the baby had been waiting on its fathers to be there, as suddenly every push Fawn gave sent the head surging forward. Even when the pain was at its worst, Fawn never lost her composure. She panted, she hissed, and she gave the occasional quiet groan; but otherwise, she voiced no complaints.
Her boys were still and silent, perhaps too unsure what to do to offer any more unsolicited advice -- thank God. At least they could see for themselves she knew what she was doing.
With the chirping crickets and hooting owls as her background music, Fawn managed to slide the head of her child free in just four more good shoves after changing position.
"Do . . . you need anything?" Hassan timidly asked.
"I just need y'all to be quiet."
It wasn't an insult. With a large head hanging out of her and shoulders already pressing their way through her pelvis, any sound louder than a whisper was making her nauseous.
Fawn breathed deep, her thumb lovingly stroking the cheek of her baby while she waited for their body to turn. She felt their face twitch under her fingers, their mouth opening in a cry that had no breath behind it yet.
"I know, rugrat. I know it's uncomfortable, I'm sorry," she thought, her breath coming in harsh huffs through her nose. "Mama's got 'ya, though. She's got 'ya and your daddies are both here waitin'. It'll be okay, sweetie."
With her next contraction, Fawn made it her mission to push until her baby was out; and, by God, birth that child she did -- feet pressing against rock, hips angled towards the sky, and with both fathers watching on in stunned and obedient silence. The shoulders pressed through one right after the other, and all Fawn had to do was give a gentle tug under the chubby arms once they came free.
The sand under her became drenched as the hips of the baby slipped free of her own. Fawn held the scrunched newborn up in front of her for a few seconds, giving it a quick once-over with her eyes. From what she could tell, he was perfect!
"Well, ain't you a handsome one?" she crooned, laying her son over her stomach. He squirmed face-down on the worn denim of her shirt, whimpering quietly. "Come on, you can do better than that," Fawn encouraged, giving his shoulders a rub.
The newborn must've been exhausted from the hours-long squeeze. He could still only muster enough life to whimper, until his mother gave him a flurry of harsh pats to the butt. Then, he finally cried.
With his very first breath, that little boy proved he had his mother's authority in his blood. Because forty feet downhill, the entire gang was woken to the sound of his cries.
It didn't matter if they'd been sound asleep, they were all going to know his Mama had a new reason to kick their asses.
((I'd love to receive more prompts for this AU! I'd love to get one that would allow me to continue with the family fluff after this birth scene. I would've added it to this drabble, but I didn't want to get too far away from the prompt/))
Hope you enjoyed!
seekers are really communal frame types. it's actually part of the reason why they trine together; they're like rats or pigeons. a single seeker left alone to their own devices will often slip into depression without companionship. it's actually a big idea i have for my fan continuity.
i've seen people saying that vosians are prideful assholes and while i think that's true to some extent, i also think that they're just generally very focused on their communities. within my fan continuity, certain areas of cybertron lended themselves better to certain frame types. the areas that eventually became the region of vos were pitted by steep mountains and deep canyons so only those who could fly were able to properly settle there.
due to this, vos is a very flight oriented region. most cities there are built high into the atmosphere and rarely accommodate other frame types which has led to the stereotype that all vosians are vain and only care about themselves which is very much not true!
vos, in my fan continuity, isn't a single city. it's a name given to describe a specific region of cybertron that has similar topography, and language families (similar to how we call the middle east, the middle east even though there's a ton of different countries and cultures there)
vosians are generally some of the most outwardly friendly cybertronians due to the wingspeak that the region developed as their main form of communication. this language is allows for far more nuance but it's not something taught across cybertron so when vosian's speak common, their tones often come across as intensely snooty because they tend to be very blunt with their words.
seekers in particular are distinguished from other flight frames by their specific wing forms and general likeness to each other in terms of kibble placement and other such looks, are very community based, often forming massive neighborhoods and colonies of up to 120 seekers.
these colonies function just by the sheer feeling of community that shows up between those who are part of it. members often share, sleeping, cooking, bathing, and living spaces and it's not uncommon for multiple different trines to form massive poly relationships with each other just because of close proximity
this is also my explanation behind why the only air force we see in the decepticons are seekers. because they're so communal, it only made sense for them all to join the cons. not doing so would mean that one left behind might become extremely isolated and depressed from lack of contact.
seeker colonies are highly complex and often feature a single trine as the main leaders (in this case it would be the elite trine) but it can often vary from colony to colony. smaller ones might only have one trine in charge, but the bigger ones might have up to five which create a council of sorts to make decisions regarding the community
going back to the city structures of vos. it varies highly on the area but generally cities that are built high in the mountains tend to build outward around the mountain and then upward. so you'd see a lot of scaffolding around the lowest layers, just general structural support dug directly into the rock, while the upper most layers are connected by a series of bridges and pathways.
cities that built into the canyons of the region tend to be a lot more spread out, with chunkier buildings that better accommodate cybertronians of other frames. however it is consistent that vosian cities are built at high altitudes, feature heavy use of spiraling skyscrapers, and generally focused on flight frames and their specific needs. so lots of perches to land on, runways to take off from, and open aired buildings to allow for better weather predictions since some cities might be so high up that the upper layers stretch above the cloudline.
i have thoughts about the winglord thing in fandom. i think it's really interesting but i don't think it's a seeker specific thing.
so in terms of the winglord for this version of cybertron, i think it's a ceremonial term used to describe the winner of a ritual that determines who will lead the vosian region for the coming millennium regarding religious leadership. it's kinda like if the pope position got chosen by a fistfight. so like the winglord doesn't have any actual political power, but they do have a lot of religious influence
starscream in my continuity never actually becomes the winglord because of that reason. he's not particularly religious and because he specifically wants to join politics to get vos more focused on unifying with other cybertronian regions, he never participates in the winglord fights. however, sunstorm does
skywarp is a cartographer and his teleporting abilities allow him to get into unmapped spaces without too much trouble. which is very useful since vos' topography does not lend itself well to scanning devices because of the unpredictability of the weather. the area is prone to sudden and very random tornadoes because of it's mountainous landscape and it's actually part of the reason why vosian cities are designed the way they are. they're built most commonly in the areas that avoid the paths of the tornadoes
once again this ask is getting out of hand so i'm going to cap it off on that
aaaaaa i can't believe it took me so long to get to this ask, this is literally the coolest thing ever. Though i might be biased because I have... well, not exactly a continuity, more like... it's flashes and, uh, images, in my head, barely headcanons, and they're not always nearly as pregnancy-based as i led everyone to believe. And in these barely-headcanons, i am a sucker for, first of all, the cybertronian "cities" being more akin to areas or states with more cities within, and second of all your idea of seeker communal society kind of reminds me of the way that the roman kingdom operated, and i looove to get inspired by rome for my cybertronian worldbuilding. mostly because rome was very fucked up and cybertron needs to be as well.
and yeah, the winglord thing, i do feel like it's possible that every city/state on cybertron would have a high ranking official that is technically "in charge" and vosnians simply call it a winglord, but it's not exclusive to them. sorry just the political arrangement of cybertron is so interesting to me, no.1 favourite thing to think about. it probably depends on the "area" but the official can be only religious in nature or fully tyrannical or anywhere in between. again, sorry, i have to stop thinking about this.
in love with your mind, i love communal fliers. i know people can get weird about seekers and trines but i love it when it's simply a cultural difference.
New Cast Propels Cal To Opening Wins
Ten Bears Debut in 86-73 Win Against CSUB
Cal Pulls Away for 91-73 Victory Over Cal Poly
BERKELEY (AP) – Jovan Blacksher Jr. scored 17 points, Andrej Stojakovic added 16 for California on Monday night and the new-look Golden Bears beat Cal State Bakersfield 86-73 in the season opener for both teams at Haas Pavilion.   Ten first-year Golden Bears – nine transfers and one freshman – saw the floor within the first eight minutes of the contest and five of them reached double-figure points, including BJ Omot (13), DJ Campbell (12) and Mady Sissoko (10) along with Blacksher and Stojakovic.   "Every one of the 10 (players) went in there and contributed to winning," Cal head coach Mark Madsen said. "This was a tremendous team effort tonight."   Jemel Jones led Cal State Bakersfield with 22 points, Corey Stephenson scored 17 and Marvin McGhee III had 13. Shakir McGhee III grabbed 10 rebounds to go with nine points.   Jones made a jumper that capped a 9-3 spurt and trimmed CSUB's deficit to 78-71 with 59 seconds to play but Stojakovic, a Stanford transfer, Blacksher, a graduate transfer from Grand Canyon, and Campbell each made 2 of 2 from the free-throw line from there to seal it. Cal made 31 of 40 free throw attempts Monday night, its most makes and attempts in a single game since going 31 of 43 against Portland State on Dec. 21, 2017.   Minnesota transfer Joshua Ola-Joseph threw down a dunk that made it 9-8 with 14:22 left in the first half and the Bears led the rest of the way.   A dunk by Fidelis Okereke trimmed Bakersfield's deficit to 32-26 with 3:38 left in the first half but Blacksher answered with a 3-pointer and then a layup to give Cal an 11-point lead a minute later. He and Omot then hit back-to-back 3s to close the first half and make it 46-28.
California 91, Cal Poly 73
BERKELEY (AP) – In their second game this week, the Golden Bears erased an early double-digit lead and defeated Cal Poly 91-73 on Tuesday night to improve to 2-0 for their season.   Jovan Blacksher Jr. scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in the second half and Andrej Stojakovic added 15. Blacksher hit four 3-pointers and the Golden Bears (2-0) went 11 of 26 from the arc. Rytis Petraitis scored 13 points off the bench and BJ Omot had 10. Lee Dort grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points.   Leading by four at halftime, Cal opened the second half with three consecutive 3-pointers – two from Omot and one from Stojakovic – for a double-digit lead. The margin was 14 before Cal's bench provided all the points in an 11-0 run midway through the half. The Mustangs got within 12 with four minutes left but no closer.   The Mustangs hit five 3-pointers – including two from Jarred Hyder, a 2023 Cal alumnus who played three seasons for the Bears between 2020-23 – in the first six minutes of the game in taking a 12-point lead. Cal responded with 3s by Blacksher and Christian Tucker and eventually took the lead during a 13-2 run that included three consecutive 3s. The Bears led by as many as nine before going in the half ahead 39-35.   Issac Jessup hit 5 of 9 3-point attempts and finished with 20 points to lead Cal Poly before fouling out. Owen Koonce added 11 points. The Mustangs made 10 of 26 3-point tries but gave up 18 turnovers, leading to 29 Cal points.
UP NEXT Cal hits the road for the first time to face Vanderbilt next Wednesday. Tipoff at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville is at 5 p.m. PT and the contest will be televised on SEC Network+. It will be the first meeting between the two schools.
I wanna badly ask how does it work the octo expansion au with Army!! I mean, were they not present in the rest of the stuff that happens in all manga, like they appear only in octo expansion part or there is like a different planning on how Army is before being in the metro. Yea im really curious about this.. (AND wanna add i really love your drawings and you made me end up being part of the poly s5 nation fr🦅)
ok so this has been a big question for a while because having a different character be in a different place with coroika specifically can throw in a lot of issues because everythings so specific around character situations. for armys plot specifically the plan is for him to be present for the entire manga, but in octo expansion his memory of previous events in inkopolis get knocked out. its basically more of a self reflection in that way, hachis story was about regaining his memory but armys story is more focused on accepting his memories since he'd been in disguise previously. i think the only time i drew army in different stages of his memory is here for the side order art i was being silly... (l to r 'inkling' army, oe army, so army)
Tumblr media
dropping army into the metro is. a bit of an issue because army isnt present when goggles gets shoved out the salmon run boat. so it creates an issue because theres no reason army would be in octo canyon or anything to encounter rider, much less likely to fight with them because hes disguised. so that situations out the window but with coroika it just so happens to work out GREAT because the s4 had been in a salmon run after goggles.
Tumblr media
and guess how goggles got to the metro. he fell off a salmon run boat BAAAM PERF PLOTLINE. since goggles is also present as a character in the oe au as a plot leader i think im just going to have army fall later and find goggles somewhere ahead. goggles isnt really as impactful here because. i dont like goggles too much but he needs to b there. so whatever.
Day 7! Hiking
Tumblr media
Jade is showing Shay and Miles around the canyons :D I like these clothes designs <3 Miles really like the view , and Shay and little buddy’s friendship is going quite nice compared to how it started. Jade likes to go out on walks or hikes and is really happy that she gets to share her findings with her new “friends” …. Let’s be honest they’re more then friends at thing point and are 100% in a poly relationship <3
You really have a way with words. In your Hypnospace outlaw post you talked about low poly modeling, and being nostalgic for a time you weren’t around for, and that’s EXACTLY how I feel. A Short Hike, Pseudoregalia, Smile For Me, and most importantly Hypnospace Outlaw, are all my absolute favorites.
oh my gosh thats such a nice compliment thank you! :3
i havent had the chance to get a short hike or pseudoregalia yet, but im totally with you on smile for me. i feel like it has a similar nostalgic framing, but instead of a specific point in time it kinda feels like if a 90s cartoon was a throwback to the 60s (btw look up "team egg donut canyon"). the gameplay has a similar vibe too of setting up a bunch of funky people for you to interact with, only SFM gives the player a more active role in interaction to give you more of a feeling of community involvement. figuring out the vampire is nat's dad gave me the same feeling as finding out chowder man was going to coolfest, the reappearance makes the world just feel more real!
Football 17776 and especially Football 20020 have this intense physical quality. They make you hyperaware of geography. The visual medium is peppered with maps, the low poly 3D kind that the satellite narrators would see. The vast timescales make cross-country travel as physically easy as going to the grocery store, and the gigantic football fields mean a canyon is a more serious antagonist than the opposing team. Infinity is hard to comprehend, but when gigantic swaths of space and time are shrunk like this, the characters and audience viscerally can feel how far away Georgia is from California.
It reminds me of another work, actually: the Tower of Babel by Ted Chiang. Both the Tower and the various football games in 17776 are huge projects that take many human lifespans to complete, and both stories highlight this by showing the details of everyday life: Nick and Manny's marital drama, the production of the materials necessary for tower construction, Ed's mastery of Double Dribble, a sunset seen from above. . . the contrast is what gives enormity meaning.
Poly Selfship Ask Game by @selfship-polycule
(ft Bakugo and Kirishima)
🐘 How big is your polycule?
3 people, including myself
🐪 Who confessed first? How did it go?
Bakugo first confessed to me, then we both agreed we wanted Kirishima to be in our relationship.
🦌 Were they already in a relationship when you got with your FOs?
No, but me and Bakugo were.
🐊 How long have you all been together?
All three of us have been together for 6 months.
🐿️ Did you have to hide your relationship?
None of us have told our family except for Kirishima. Luckily, his parents are supportive. We’ve never “come out” to anybody in our class, but it’s pretty obvious.
🐒 Who is the big spoon, middle spoon and little spoon?
Bakugo is usually the big spoon, but sometimes switches places with the little spoon, which is usually me or Kirishima. We switch up a lot.
🐈 Do you all share one big bed together or do you have different beds?
We couldn’t fit a big bed in any of our dorms, so we don’t really have a big bed, but we share our small one anyway.
🦇 What are your favorite things to do together?
We really like going to restaurants or cafes. Our favorite thing when we can afford it is going to water parks. Occasionally, we have movie nights with all 3 of us. All of us are very physically affectionate, so it works out pretty well.
🐦 What were your first date together?
Our first official date together was at an aquarium. It was really beautiful, and I loved seeing Kirishima getting excited about the sharks.
🦎 What were the first thing you gave to each other?
Kirishima got Bakugo some black earrings and me a stuffed animal puppy. Bakugo got me a cute bracelet and Kirishima a pet rock with googly eyes and red foam hair. I got Kirishima a shark stuffed animal and Bakugo a new jacket that he had really wanted.
🐝 Do you have a poly ship with FOs from different sources?
I have another polyship with Rengoku and Uzui from Demon Slayer.
🐌 Who is more likely to fall asleep first? Who goes to sleep last?
Bakugo usually falls asleep first, followed by me, then Kirishima. He likes to make sure we’re both sleeping well before he goes to sleep.
🦔 Do you or your FOs date outside of the polycule?
No, our polycule is strictly closed.
🐋 What are each of your FOs' nickname? Do they have one for you too?
My nicknames: Sweetheart, baby, darling, sweetie, pebble, love, babe, baby, doll, cutie, angel wings, idiot
Bakugos nicknames: Sweetheart, babe, baby, blasty, love, honey, darling, babe, love
Kirishimas nicknames: baby, Sharky, sweetheart, sweetie, babe, hottie, shark-face, dummy
🐻 How do they show their love? Is it through gifts? Words? Quality time? Something else?
Bakugo shows his love through physical affection and words, but he has to feel very comfortable to express himself through words. Kirishima expresses his love through quality time and gifts.
🦊 What is something you love most about each other?
I love how positive Kirishima is, and I love how affectionate Bakugo is when we’re alone
Kirishima loves how strong Bakugo is, mentally and physically, and he loves how sweet I am.
Bakugo loves how Kirishima motivates him, and he loves my kindness.
🐁 Any headcanons you have about your polycule?
And they were all switches.
🦨 If you had to name your polycule, how would you name it?
Katsukasushima
🦥 In a modern setting, what job would each of you have?
Bakugo would probably be a tattoo artist/piercer. Kirishima would be a football player. I would be an artist.
🦧 What's your current relationship statue (dating, married, etc)?
We’re all dating :)
🐧 If you went on a trip together, where would you go?
We would all go to somewhere brand new, maybe Arizona to see the Grand Canyon. Just a change of scenery.
🐅 Do you have any pets? If so, what are they? If not, what kind of pets would you like to adopt?
We’d all like a dog, but we don’t have any pets.
🐇 Any plans to have kids?
We want to have a kid one day, maybe two; one from Bakugo, one from Kirishima.
okay so we know about your Neo 3, mod, but what about your other agents?
(This was the question I wanted to get since I introduced Chevelle lmao thank you!!!)
(So my agents don't follow the same kinda pattern a lotta other people do with theirs!)
(My Captain 3 is named Osprey, Ozzy for short. She's Australian, Aboriginal most likely. Not the brooding type of Captain, but still a massive dweeb. Talks like an anime protag, conductor of the chronic pain train, kinda chipper and more of a mentor to agents like Neo 3 and 4. Likely to kick your beak in if you're being a jerk tho so they're not a pushover. She/they pronouns! About 22/23 still deciding here. Probably Pan, probably Poly, doesnt care about gender. VERY stupid about self care and pushes themself too hard a LOT. Captain of both the NSS but also the squid sisters fanclub. Probably was in a lil fling with each Squid Sister separately at different points. Both ended on good terms!)
(Agent 4 is Polaris, or as Marie calls them "Lari", which makes them f u m e. They also get called Bi-Polar for being an easily ticked off bisexual who can't stick to a gender identity. ADHD/Autism swag is off the charts too. Like this is my lil skrungle who punches people during Turf. Probably has rabies? Ate a raw bird once for 3k G. Has trouble applying themself to anything other than Agent Work, which they love. 20, they/them is their usual pronouns but they'll switch em around with she or he or sometimes it pronouns. Most likely French Canadian if I had to give them a voice. 100% Dated the Fiddler from Bottom Feeders, broke up because she wanted to fight to keep things "fresh".)
(My 8 is Oracle. Former Elite who fell into the Metro after engaging with Captain and Cuttlefish while out on patrol with her partner. She's got quite a checkered past that's actually tied to an oc centric story I'm writing but the short of it is that theyre a clone of an AWFUL scientist from Octo Canyon and she's really trying to distance herself from that. Trans lesbian swag. She/they, cynical and sarcastic but in that big sister kinda way. Highly intelligent, suffers from injuries received during the NILS statue fight and the trials [mostly seizures, migraines, PTSD, and anxiety the poor dear], her and Cap3 are probably an item but won't make it official, shes 24. Enjoys modding weapons and stabs as a warning. Venomous! Pearlina Shipper #1)
(And you all know Chevelle hopefully. If not, they're an orphaned Octoling who got adopted by a Maws [Mamaws]. They didn't wanna be an agent, but felt like Cuttlefish could pay them and then didn't so they were going to back out but then fell into Alterna and the rest is history. Started out super poor and spends time getting money to donate it to other poor kids in Splatsville. REALLY hates Grizzco. Steals eggs back. Sabotaged the copter more than once. Thinks of Deep Cut as bad influence older siblings [gets treated like it too by those 3 like they LOVE Chevy like a sibling]. Very dry-wit, motivated and resourceful. Lil Buddy is basically their adoptive baby brother who eats glue. Ambiguous race for now, though I see them with a bit of a Spanish accent so might be of Latin descent. Can speak Salmonese, Octarian, and Inklish but prefers to be quiet. 18. They/them. Gay gay homosexual gay. Has a crush on Polaris)
