damn... this interaction btwn them hit... totally forgot bought this scene too but the parallels between their struggles are so good... yuna getting traumatized from being a pushy busybody in middle school + closing herself off vs. miki being scared of letting people down + making herself Too available. i really love the fact that yuna's a meddler at heart and that she can't help but butt into problems that aren't even her own, even though she tries really hard to suppress that part of herself and stay lowkey. she always has poignant advice to give

Poltergay: This is Real and French - Amazon Prime Review A haunted nightclub starts to affect a couple’s relationship. #Poltergay
A haunted nightclub starts to affect a couple’s relationship. SUMMARY Marc and Emma (Clovis Cornillac and Julie Depardieu. Yes, Gerard Depardieu’s daughter) are young, recently married, and new homeowners. However, it turns out that their house used to be the site of a literally underground spot in 1979 called L’Ambigu. As the name apparently suggests in French (I don’t get it, but apparently…

RE: the Asian movie about teen suicide/vulnerable kids gangsters with a lot of teen nudity being distributed by a gay movie company
funereal-disease said: Does “gay movie” as conceptualized by this company inherently mean “erotic”? I’m asking in good faith; I don’t actually know what “gay” connotes in indie cinema
This is a good question & probably has a lot of good potential answers. I own two other films by the company - I love ghost movies. So one of them is a gently comic Italian drama about a gay actors in a flat haunted by resistance fighter circus performers from WW2: it's not erotic, and is a "gay movie" the way most films are "straight movies". The character's sexuality is not a huge part of the narrative. The other one is a daft comedy about a supposedly - straight man and his wife buying an old mansion which had a tragic fire in the gay disco underneath it, so it's haunted by a bevvy of screaming queens. It's called Poltergays. This is also not erotic, but it's got a lot of queer content, and most of the characters are gay. I expect the company does produce films which are more sexually explicit, but it turns out I'm mostly into non-scary ghost cinema. So in answer to the first question: for this company, no, gay is not a euphemism for gay erotica, and they release non erotic films.
Yr second question is more open ended, and I don't know how I would answer it (followers?). I guess it would be some combination of {story about gay characters} + {film which appeals to a gay audience}. In marketing terms, I don't think something merely homoerotic counts (ie Rebel Without a Cause, Guns of Navarone); nor something which happens to be made by a gay creator (ie Room with a View - gay author and directors); nor something beloved by the gays (ie Baby Jane, Wizard of Oz, Grey Gardens); or something with gay interest (ie Rock Hudson movies). Even though all those things could be considered as Our Cinema, I wouldn't call them "gay movies" or expect a gay movie company to release them.
So I guess what bugs me about this particular Asian movie is 1. It isn't a story about gay characters and 2. I felt a bit weird in the first 15 minutes of the film until I got used to it, like, as an adult viewer about how I was supposed to feel about watching all these half naked kids. Maybe that's *me* being weird about perfectly natural nudity. But that second factor, {film which appeals to a gay audience}, is therefore quite discomforting to me, and makes me question what exactly about this film appeals to that audience. Again, maybe that's me being weird. I'm a huge fan of the "unintentionally extremely homoerotic" genre, but I wouldn't classify them as gay films, and discovering the subtext for yourself is half the fun, and also they all feature adults.
It's very possible that I'm making this weirder than it is. As a viewer, one of the big emotions I experienced while watching was just parental concern for the characters on every level, so it could be an extension of that emotion. They spend the whole movie in these vulnerable situations, and I guess that spills over into concern about inappropriate sexualisation.

LGBT Horror Films
I’ve been wanting to compile a list like this for a while now, and what better time to finally do it than Pride Month!
I have sifted throughmany films in compiling this list, including reading through many synopses, and watching many trailers.  I have made a strong effort to avoid films with unforgivably ignorant or maliciously negative portrayals of LGBT people (there are films here with LGBT villains/killers, but real life has shown us that we, too, can become corrupted by trauma and suffering).  Of the films portraying LGBT characters as victims, they either triumph in the end, or are otherwise portrayed with proper humanity (i.e., their sexuality or identity is not blamed by the filmmaker as the cause for any problems they may have, except when facing villains motivated by bigotry).  I felt it equally important that these films are listed based on canon, and not speculation or memery (sorry, Babadook!).  Films with undertones have their own sub-lists.
Many more films came up while compiling this list that I felt didn’t quite meet the standards to be included, such as those whose LGBT content were relegated to minor background characters.  If you’re still interested in finding these other films, you might want to check here, here, and here.  If you’re interested in finding more LGBT directors, check here.
Please note: Permanent link availability is NOT GUARANTEED.  I wish I could have had more links to offer, but I’ve tried to rely only on free streaming sites and Youtube. Tubi TV requires signing up, but it is still 100% free (and it’s also available as an app on IOS, Android, Xbox Live and the Playstation Network).  I will do my best to update links when there are changes.
There are a few films here that veer more toward being thrillers, sci-fi, or dark fantasy, but I still felt they deserved to be included.
