Miscellaneous LU Headcanons
Four doesn't cast a shadow. when questioned, they flatly state "it died" and refuse to elaborate. if pushed on the matter, they become more and more irritated, while still refusing to elaborate
Time always knows what time it is. you could wake him up in the middle of the night and before he's even fully opened his eyes he could tell you the time without having to even think about it
Hyrule has the most magic, but Legend knows the most magical theory, followed closely by Time
Warriors, Legend, and Four are the only members of the chain who are actually legit monarchists. like the others are pretty much neutral on the concept (tho Wild doesn't like how flora was treated with all the expectations and lack of freedom, but that's another matter entirely than being of the opinion that monarchy is inherently bad), they're fine with monarchy. they just don't have strong opinions one way or another, so long as the current holder of power isn't corrupt. meanwhile Four Legend and Warriors would probably fight you if you insinuated that hyrule's monarchy should be abolished
Legend and Fable are twins but it's a secret. and also due to Fable getting kidnapped and transformed in various worlds in some of their adventures, they're no longer the same age; Legend is 19, she's 16 or 17. they still look very similar so they used the excuse that they're cousins on their father's side
Legend used to want to be a knight very very badly when he grew up, because his uncle who raised him was a knight. the knights who were controlled and attacked him during Link to the Past were pretty much all trusted adults that he knew and admired. he stopped wanting to be a knight after that
Wild may be the best cook when they have good ingredients, but when the chain is down to the wire and they need to make every little bit count? Hyrules horrible concoctions are actually the best option. he can't make it taste good but he can make it keep you alive when there are no other options
Wind is the best at navigating without a map or compass due to his experiences on ships - he would rather have the tools, but he's pretty damn good at managing without
Four has a habit of referring to themselves with "we/us" pronouns ever since they were split and then reformed with the four sword. the other heroes don't know why, but sort of shrugged and started using "they/them" pronouns bc it seemed polite. Four is mostly unaware that they do this - green picked up on it but hasn't pointed it out to the rest of four bc he knows it'll make them stress, and it clearly hasn't caused any issues
Twilight is disarmingly charismatic but only when he's not trying. if he's talking to someone casually or even somewhat irritably, they tend to be completely taken by him, but if he's actively trying to be smooth it just comes across as awkward
Sky is the most mild mannered person you've ever met until you cross certain lines, at which point it's like a switch flips and he's so pissed that even the other heroes hesitate to deal with him
Discounting the hundred years in which Wild was unconscious, Warriors had the longest single adventure, with the war of eras lasting about 7 years. Legend's six adventures altogether may have lasted longer, but they were split up into multiple parts, not one long quest
Wild takes pictures of pretty much everything they can to show Flora whenever they're back home, because they know how much she wants to learn about the ancient past, like their species, their societies, and their magic

Steve H.
Part One, Part Two
I think it would be incredibly funny to write a No-Upsidedown Au where Steve and Dustin still become unofficial brothers. Like, the kids are still getting into a ton of dangerous mischief and one way or another Dustin adopts Steve as his older brother figure and in short order Claudia takes him in as a second son.
Like maybe Steve gets his first concussion actually helping Dustin find his missing cat after Steve has been in his mentorship/brother role for a few months. How I don't know, I like to imagine it playing out like the book version of Dandelion and Geralt's meeting in The Witcher where Dustin is being chased by some bullies and just latches on to the first strong man he sees to hide behind and then BAM, bonded for life.
Anyway, Steve has been around for a little while and Claudia has met him a few times (she's not just going to let a strange older boy she's never met hang around her middle school-aged son without meeting him first) but they don't know each other too well and Steve seems very...plastic for lack of a better word when she's around. Like he doesn't want to upset her so he's always got a perfect smile and polite words ready to offer her, but he's a nice kid and way more goofy and authentic when he's hanging out with Dustin and she peeks her head into the living room.
So when he gets hurt while helping, and subsequently protecting Dustin and a couple of his friends she makes sure to stop by with cookies and a profound thank you. She asks where his parents are and who's going to make sure he wakes up every hour for the next 24 hours when he gets discharged and he says he was planning to call a cab and set some alarms because his parents aren't in town and there's no one else at the house. So Claudia pretty much just tells him he's coming home with them for the rest of the week, which turns into a full week when his parents still aren't home, and by the time he's actually ready to leave they've all grown accustomed to this new family unit.
Steve does go home at first, but he makes a lot more excuses to come over and Claudia and Dustin work overtime coming up with lame excuses as to why he should just spend the night.
"Oh Steve, it's already midnight and you're taking Dusty to school tomorrow morning anyway, why don't you just take the spare bed."
"Steve! Steve! We have to watch the next one! You said we could watch the whole series so we're not stopping until we pass out on this couch!"
"Oh, honey the snow is really coming down out there. I know you have snow tires but you really shouldn't risk it. You stay here tonight."
And Steve doesn't want to leave, not at all. He's never felt more at home than he does sitting with the Hendersons after dinner watching sitcoms or playing board games, but sometimes he doesn't have a good excuse or his parents are planning to come home for a couple of weeks so he leaves and hates every moment spent in his own house.
Until one day when he's staying the night at his parent's house while they're home for a long weekend and they have an absolute blowout of a fight. He doesn't even know why it started, just knows that everyone was already in a foul mood and none of them are the type to back down from a fight and the result is hours of screaming hurtful things at each other and his mom throwing a few slaps his way that hurt his soul more than his face and ends with his dad going upstairs and smashing his walkman and his favorite cassettes with the kitchen kettle. At which point silence descends on the Harrington house and Steve turns around and walks out the door.
It's a 20 minute walk to the Henderson home and by the time he gets there, he's numb in the heart and the hands. Dustin is already in bed and Claudia pulls him inside to warm him up and talk it out, at which point Steve curls up into her arms and cries and rages.
After that night Steve doesn't go home aside from the single trip he made to fill a bag, grab his car, and tell his parents he won't be coming back. They put up a bit of a fight but ultimately let him go with the promise that no legal action will be taken, meaning that they'll sign whatever documents he needs for school or the doctor or whatever if he faxes them to the office but he won't try for emancipation and bring all that legal drama to the forefront. Steve knows that any lawyer he could get for the case would be trounced by whoever his parents brought in, so he agrees.
And from that day on he lives with the Hendersons and becomes Claudia's second son and continues being Dustin's older brother.
(We didn't actually get to the funny part but I was on a role so if you're interested I'll be posting part two soon!)

Sword gays showdown, round 3, bracket three
Propaganda:
For Ballister:
he could tell when his sword was switched out for a fake, graduated top of his class so we know he's a good fighter, also the scene where he's fighting is hot because he's so confident with a sword in his hand, also he's gay
A canonically gay, disabled, South Asian man takes down the government with his genderqueer shapeshifter sidekick/adopted daughter! He has a swordfight with his ex-boyfriend! in which he defeats about 20 knights singlehandedly!
top of his knight class this man is a master swordsman
(Movie) He has used a sword since he broke into the Institutes training ground and ended up becoming a knight
He has very divorced vibes with Ambrosius and he uses a sword.
He's a legit knight! So, it's in the fine print.
According to the Nimona movie, Ballister here has been practicing the art of sword fighting since childhood to earn the trust of the city and he was SO CLOSE to becoming a knight. He's also definitely not dating another one of his knight mates (?). Nope. Not at all. This movie is super straight /s I think he also beats an entire army of knights with nothing but his sword and a chaotic good shapshifter so that's pretty cool. He's also south Asian, has a prosthetic arm he made himself and is honestly such a goofy guy (in a good way ofc) if that's anything.
For Amaya:
Badass super strong disabled lesbian general who can and will take you out. Doesn't need a sword to punch you into next week, but will use one anyway.
She’s married to another sword gay and she’s also disabled so I love her very much
First deaf character I saw in any cartoon, she's very badass and protects her kingdom's border, later falls in love with an elf warrior princess she once fought. In the new season, they're planning their wedding while trying to navigate political tensions between the elf society and humans. Some of the elves aren't super into the idea of a human marrying one of them, which isn't for homophobic reasons but still (I believe) meant to mirror real world conservatives (really liked a scene with Janai's brother telling Amaya she's fine as a girlfriend for Janai but actually *marrying* her is too controversial and political. Whoever wrote this did a really good job).
She’s currently engaged to another lady, she uses a sword, is a general badass.
General Amaya is a standard sword lesbian with a cool shield and some funny "lines" example: "This bread is...." *bashes bread on table with no damage to the bread* "Weapons grade"

Asmo's Selfie Reflections
First I'll have a little cry about the fact that there are no comics in the new cards. We've been robbed. Best part of the cards, along with the stories, is gone…
At least the prologue, with the presence of the kings and their right hands, was simply wonderful (Bael and his instant killing spree when he saw Beel <33)
I waited so long for Asmo that when he showed up it seemed unreal. He got everything. Most of my favorite physical features - checked. Glimmers of depth in behavior - checked. Being a dark and shady bitch - checked.
Plus, it's my personal thing, but seeing that nearly all my headcanons and assumptions for him matched reality made me squeal like a little girl.
Finally.
It doesn't surprise me at all that one of the the most powerful weapons of Hell is not so much physical, but mental force. Feelings that neither devils nor angels can resist. Love and desire have long been portrayed as some of the most powerful things, I have come across Greek motifs quite often, where the most powerful yet hidden gods were Eros or Aphrodite. As long as the spirit wants to fight, the body will follow, but without the spirit, what is left?
Especially since his order turns off your brain and tells you to follow, no matter how absurd it may be.
Asmo and his mind-fucks can help his own as well as his enemies. Especially since it seems that devils are quite traumatized after meeting him, and if they don't, they are locked up in Abbadon.
Although, it seems that he can control his abilities perfectly. He was able to blend in with the crowd and no one knew who he was.
Ahem I just have to stare at him every five seconds. My equivalent of breathing. And speaking of breathing…
*Grabs bottle of sanitizer and a mask* My dear, I know your (not)bathing routine and I still have pandemic supplies with me.
I love that the kings cover the entire spectrum of their specialties, especially the extremes. Satan is the avatar of anger, but he can keep his cool like no other when he needs to. Mammon is the avatar of greed, yet he is the most generous of demons. You get the idea. Same here, Asmo is both the lust and the love, the ultimate playboy and a loving husband.
And not only that, but complete lack of emotions and cold calculation too.
Oh yes, one of your sons is pretty famous, Vox Akuma as i heard. I really confused them when I saw Asmo for the first time-
Knowing how dark the rest of this is, I'm afraid of what you mean.
What follows is pure madness, and not really in a positive sense. Real madness and exhaustion. I had high hopes that he would take away any senses and twist in every direction, but he does it in such a beautiful way. And what's better, he loses himself too.
I only remember Satan, who at the end of Ch1 gave in to his anger so much that he almost killed Sitri and Ppyong. Asmo seems similar to me, completely lost in lust - only for a long time, without Mammon to calm him down, and without any scruples or limiting his power. If that's the case, then the devils of Abbadon must be damn strong. Crazy, but strong.
It's hard for me to describe anything after that, because it's hard for me to put six days into just a few words??? Literally. I have no idea how to describe it. I've read it a good few (a dozen) times and my brain turns off and goes into fangirl mode instead.
He seems as sweet as he is cold… which intrigues me even more, because so far he gives me the impression of a third party. He is not with the angels, and he is with the rest of the demons because it pays off for him.
At least one thing doesn't change.
Everyone loves to piss off Satan <3
I know that was a very polite analysis. That's not how I planned it, but just, just want to shove my phone into each of your hands and tell you to read it yourself because it's indescribable 😭
I already love this guy, and if he wants to sacrifice me in some twisted way, I'll even pour oil on myself to make the flames smell nice. Am I crazy? Yes. Am I ashamed? Absolutely not. Abbadon, here I come.
#whb#what in the hell is bad#whb asmodeus#it was sooo loooong#it wasn't supposed to be an analysis but that's how he affects me#AND HAVE YOU SEEN HIS HEAD'S LITTLE NODING IN THE UNHOLY BOARD WHEN WE BITE HIM#this little praise is all my life now

Howdy, erm, sorry, but I thought since you know Abt mha more than me, you would make this better.
So, the idea is: gaalee, but mha teachers (Lee is teaching orientation on the terrain, and Gaara more like hero activity moderator which mission, who and how should do it, smth like it. Dunno if in bnha verse they have such organ, but I think it would be neat). Like. Gaara and Lee are their adult versions with kids, but Lee is divorced. So, they like meet after loooong time and be like: remember our battle arc, when I almost killed you? Wanna do that again, just to see our progress? - Gaara said.
Since Lee is a teacher he has stadium pass.
So, they end up repeating all the steps like on manga until Lee jump on higher place (tribune or smth), Gaara would think like 'he is abt dropping his weights', but Lee actually just jumps down SUPER CLOSE TO GAARA'S FACE. He could feel warm breath in his forehead, Lee band a lil to his lips, Gaara in shock he just can't move sand at all (Lee still doesn't have quirk, that just pure shock). Then Lee just slide his hand in gourt, grab some sand and pour it on the flore through his fist and then like 'any new tricks from this dawg, cause I learned some'
I am sorry but this stupidity was rooting my brain too damn fast.
Is it gay enough to discuss? :p
Have a good Day!
Taz I do hope you know what you've done here, you have smashed together my two favorite ships of all time and now my brain is broken forever.
I'm obsessed and I will be drawing this fight scene you've written as soon as I have the energy for something complicated. For now, I only offer a lil flashback and Gaara being the New Teacher lol
They are being so polite for introductions lol
Close up and transcriptions under the cut
Sports Festival:
-Lee loses to Gaara and is unable to join the hero program- flunks out of general studies- gets license from different school (Lee is quirkless)
-Rumors that Gaara is definitely going to be a villain- seen as a nepo baby- Father is a business man with ties to hero corruption/working with villains
Years Later @UA
-New Teacher Gaara- Reformed attitude+ therapy- wants to fix hero corruption from inside
-Established Teacher Lee- explaining to his students how his wraps are reinforced to withstand his full punches- thanks support!
G: "Sorry for almost killing you." (thinking: Tall, cute, strong.. Wonder if he hates me now)
L: "Oh! It is all in the past! You are forgiven! Please let me know if you need help with anything! I look forward to working with you!" (Thinking: omg he's so cool now! He's barely even scary! Its been so long! Maybe he'll spar with me! So pretty..)
G: "Likewise."

No Yan Sim: Undine Eisner
My entry for the No Yandere Simulator au by @quartztwst. I'm sending Undine out to play with the neighbours' kids!
This Masterpost contains all my reblogs under the templates, - you are welcome to comment and ask questions in the post's comment section :)
(excuse the traditional art, I don't have the digital drawing skill, lol) (Undine is her own Warning: Racism, Queerphobia)
Under the Cut: Role in the Plot, Introduction, Official Questions answered Part 1 & 2
Role in the Plot: NPC / Secondary Rival
- will investigate murders and murder attempts (turns up after murder and failed attempt) - will try to protect everyone (after failed murder attempt: guards the intended victim, no matter who it is) - {NEW} will not guard Azul, because she knows that he has enough strong guards and they don't like each other (but would still guard him, if he had no one else to help him, very hypothetically)- will intervene in fights if she comes across them (tries to stop the fight, so no one gets injured/killed) - will try to stop a murder attempt, if she walks in on it (fights the attacker and tries to capture them) - will sneak/run away, if someone has a gun (Undine knows what she's made of and that she can't win against that)
Introduction
In this AU, she moved with her family from Germany to whereever this school is, while her friends stayed back in Germany, so she is on her own at this school (still in contact with them though). Her family is actually political very right and hates foreigners, so they also hate to be foreigners, but one parent got such a great job opportunity here, you know: money. At any rate, Undine tries to be a "good" foreigner and "integrate" (assimilate). So, she prefers to get into fights (only with "bad guys" who "deserve it", of course) after school, to not be bad at school by breaking the rule against fighting there.
Other "values" taught at home are racism and queerphobia. With the bad influence of her parents instead of the good influence of her friends, Undine believes in these "values" much more. By mouthing off about her outdated and cruel points of view, Undine has ruined her own reputation at this school.
Her desire to be heroic and popular (even stronger in this AU) is constantly thwarted by herself. It's not just that she ends up discriminating students in her mindset to look down on differences to put herself higher, she also comes across as annoying, ignorant and patronizing when she tries to help people with little daily struggles (because there are so little big stuggles at this lame, mundane school).
While it is unclear, if Jade really has a romantic interest in Undine (as rumour has it, but that rumour could easily be false), he is certainly interested in the contradiction between her heroic kindness and her villainous rude side and the resulting "entertaining behaviour". Undine is curious, if the rumour is true, but won't ask Jade outright. She wouldn't risk to get rejected by someone she doesn't even have a crush on. Goes against her pride.
In an AU, where she is not at a disadvantage with others having magic, but she herself not, Undine is pretty strong. She won't admit it, but her motivation to get stronger in the Martial arts club isn't just her wish to be heroic and save people, but also her less heroic lust for power (which physical strength is).
Her close friends call her "Dini" - but she doesn't have any close friends at this school.
I hope Undine isn't too problematic with her discriminatory ways, but I thought if murder is okay, then her misdeeds should not be too hardcore for the AU. Undine can change and learn to be a better person - with some good-influence-friends, patience and learning from mistakes it's possible, even in this AU.
Undine Eisner No Yan Sim AU Q&A Part 1
1. Does your OC have parents or family in the AU? If not, what is their current living situation?
Yes. Undine lives with her parents and has a good relationship with them. Her parents, followers of right-wing populism, are a bad influence, raising their daughter (only child) to be racist, queerphobic etc. The teachers at the school step up and try to teach her to be more tolerant.
2. What are their thoughts on Quartz?
Quartz has an unusual skincolour, so... While Undine doesn't outright bully people with a different skin colour, her racism manifests in a casual form, by her avoiding them, being wary of them and being less kind to them. For example, Undine would help Quartz, if she sees another student bullying/attacking her (unless she knows of a context that justifies it, like... you know... Quartz trying to kill someone), but she wouldn't help her if she fell down or dropped some things, when she would help white students in such little scenarios. Since she is so distant, Undine isn't close to Quartz at all. She barely knows her. Undine has no idea, what she's up to. While Undine isn't crass enough to admit it out loud, she is more suspicious of not-white people, so she will easily suspect Quartz to be a criminal.
3. What is their thoughts and relationship with Azul? How did they meet Azul?
Undine has no respect for guys who have a harem (which Azul has in this AU apparently, lol). Someone who can't choose and commit isn't worth her (romantic) interest. Normally, Undine stays away from Azul and his admirers. She has actually never met him alone until now and has never had a proper conversation with him. She only knows him from seeing him around and hearing other people's stories about him. She will protect him from harm and danger, but out of principle - Undine will try to save every student, whose life is in danger.
4. What are their relationships with other characters/OCs?
Crowley: If Miss Eisner gets sent to my office one more time for political incorrect commentary, I shall have her put together and hold a presentation about why discrimination is unacceptable and the benefits of tolerance at school. A recording of that will look good on the school's website - I mean it is good to share the resource with the public, so that everyone can learn from it...
Azul: Undine is easily one of the most foolish students here, very naive and narrow-minded. I don't like people like her.
Vil: Undine is a perfect example of someone who has neither skill nor talent in acting. Unfortunately, she tries to put up her nice-girl-act every day, despite that. It's so bad, that no one could fall for it...
Ace: Yeah, Undine is really way too nice. She just agrees to help me with everything I ask of her, as long as I don't want her food or ask her to go throw my trash away. I found out that her limit of taking requests from the same guy is two per day, then she catches on that she gets used as maid and gets snappy, hehe.
5. What grade/year is your OC?
First year
6. What is your OCs goal for the school year or in life?
Get good grades, do good, be heroic.
7. Your OC is being framed for murder of another student by Quartz, how does your OC react to that? Does your OC know it's Quartz?
Outrageous! Undine will prove her innocence and look for the real killer! If she knows who framed her, she can guess the killer is also Quartz.
8. Your OC notices Quartz carrying a weapon in her skirt pocket. That's strange since the female school uniforms don't have skirt pockets. Does your OC report this?
Yes.
9. Where is your OC usually with or at during school? Classes? With Azul? Skipping class? Where do they eat lunch?
Undine doesn't skip class. She eats lunch in the cafeteria. She is usually alone.
10. How are your OC's grades?
Overall good, but nothing special. She's failing English, because she is too far beneath the first language level, that is taught here.
NEW!
(No Yan Sim AU) Questions for OCs part 2!
1. What is their magic level? What type of magic are they’re best at?
She does her best with the potential she has, Undine wishes to be more powerful of course. She has no Ultimate Magic (yet?) and sticks to the basics, using the four elemental types. While she is decent with all four elements (nothing unusual), Water is her strongest.
(Fun fact: The OG version of Undine does not have magic.)
2. If your OC is magicless, how do they defend themselves from someone attacking them with magic? Are they good at fighting?
Undine is not on the strong side of the power scale for her magic alone. She is good at physical fighting and has an attack style that includes both magic and physical attacks, with a practised sequence that will throw guys, who try to make out a simple attack pattern in her fighting style off. Undine tends to evade spells as much as she can, because that way she can use less of her limited magic for defense.
3. Your OC stumbles upon a dead body a few feet outside of the school. Do they report it?
This is narrated as an own post. LINK HERE
4. Which elimination tactic is preferred to use on them?
Misleading of her investigation - after Undine catches a wrong "killer" (ideally a rival), she will also stop guarding any rival target.
If Undine accuses Quartz - just say she's being racist again. Everyone will buy that that's all there is to her suspicions, unless she has solid proof.
If you want to eliminate her as rasicst/queerphobe, the best tactic is to befriend her and change her ways through a good influence.
5. How are your OCs outside of school? Do they have jobs?
Undine has no job, so she just enjoys her free time outside of school. She consumes media about heroes at home as her hobby. She will blaspheme about schoolmates much more at home with her parents (who encourage such "criticism") than at school.
6. How social is your OC? Do they stray away from crowds?
Outgoing, but judgemental - it's complicated. Crowds don't bother Undine, she may join the crowd if it revolves around something she likes, like some delicious food in the cafeteria or school drama. But she avoids the crowd of Azul and his fans, she finds this crowd stupid and annoying.
7. Which TWST character does your OC believe should have more admirers than Azul?
Undine thinks no one should have as much "simps" as Azul has now, no one needs that many romantic options, that's just ridiculous. Since Azul doesn't commit to one, Undine thinks he isn't worthy of any admirers, so in her opinion, he should have 0.
A bit of a romantic at heart, Undine grants everyone else a love interest, so they may/should have 1.
Everyone except Leona (Undine clashed with him the past, her taking the L of course), he can stay alone for all she cares.
If the Game-Yuu is at the school, Undine will also except this person, because Game-Yuu can't be classified as boy or girl. When it comes to Undine's queerphobia, she tolerates/ignores the sexualities LGB and A, but she believes that "there are only two genders and everything else is woke madness" and thinks it's also "woke and weak" when people can't just accept their biological sex as their gender. To her, someone with such a "flaw" is not admirable at all.
If there are the Manga-Yuus at the school, Yuuken, Yuuka and Yuuta, Undine will also think they are more admirable than Azul, because unlike the Game-Yuu she can classify them as boy, girl and boy respectively in her little drawer-brain.
8. What are your OC's weaknesses? Are they easily manipulated? Easily overpowered by?
Undine is too wary to get tricked/manipulated easily. If you try that, she may turn the tables on you.
Undine's favourite persuasion tactic is: "You want (to be) X, and if you do action Y, you will be/get X."
Undine is easily owerpowered by strong magic spells (when you manage to hit her) and a powerful pyscical force (but you have to be very quick too, or else she'll run away when she notices that you are much stronger than her).
9. Why does your OC like their crush?
Well, Undine doesn't have a crush. But here is what she's generally into:
male
heroic
handsome
10. If your OC has no crush, which TWST character might have a liking for your OC?
Jade might have a liking for her!
While it is unclear, if Jade really has a romantic interest in Undine (as rumour has it), he is certainly interested in the contradiction between her heroic kindness and her villainous rude side and the resulting "entertaining behaviour".
He usually talks with her a little bit, when they cross paths in school. Undine can't tell if Jade is trying to flirt. Isn't it his normal behaviour, that he is talking a bit smooth?
Undine is curious, if the rumour is true, but won't ask Jade outright. She wouldn't risk to get rejected by someone she doesn't even have a crush on. Goes against her pride.
On Undine's side, she likes Jade, but can't see him as friend or suitor, because she doesn't trust him (yet?). After all, she has heard more rumours about Jade than the one about his supposed crush on her and some of those are concerning...
At any rate he likes her enough, to not let someone get away with killing her, so if you eliminate Undine, Jade will will have it in for you.
11. Since reputation and popularity are kind of different, is your OC popular in and outside of school?

i'm still following first soldier's plot just from these posts but how is young sephiroth portrayed? is he evil or like he was in crisis core or what
Young Sephiroth is depicted as being confused, insecure, and kind of brainwashed from years of conditioning under Shinra. First Soldier provided some interesting aspects and moments for his character, which I'll bullet for you here real quick.
Sephiroth has never been on a real mission before this one. Most of his "accomplishments" so far have been fabricated lies under Shinra for propaganda purposes. Despite him simultaneously being freakishly strong and overpowered thanks to the Jenova cells.
Sephiroth is also apparently incredibly sheltered as he comes across as very socially awkward and kind of shy when he isn't sticking to Shinra's script. It's implied he's barely ever interacted with actual people outside of a controlled setting.
Sephiroth carries a locket of his mother Lucrecia (who he refers to as Jenova) and at this point still believes her to be alive and is looking for her. He apparently asks everyone he meets to see if they know anything about her. He loses this locket offscreen btw and it's bullshit.
Sephiroth is a brainwashed child soldier and often spouts fucked up logic/Shinra propaganda in order to justify his more violent actions. He conveys an extremely paranoid world view that if he doesn't fight, he'll be killed or hurt. This obv speaks to the conditions Shinra put him under during training.
That said, Sephiroth actively dislikes his status as a "hero" and just wants to find his mom and live a normal life. He breaks down crying after killing a bunch of child soldiers his own age and says that he never wanted to be what he is.
Sephiroth occasionally has moments where he acts like an actual little kid, giggling over Glenn's jokes, wanting the group's approval, and often coming off as being kind of timid and overly respectful. He has two modes--hardass leader sticking to a schedule and a literal child trying to push himself too hard because that's all he was ever taught.
Most of the time he's pretty supportive and courteous, if not overly polite. He clearly really wants to impress his team and often apologizes whenever he makes a mistake. He's leader, but he's figuring things out.
Lastly, and strangely most importantly, the stupid Halloween Event of all things confirmed that Hojo has been abusing/torturing Sephiroth for most of his life and is likely the reason why Sephiroth pushes himself so hard.
Currently, Sephiroth's story is still unfinished. The game makes it clear that he's grown very attached to his new team and feels responsible for protecting them from danger. He and main character Glenn have formed a brotherly bond of sorts and Sephiroth willingly goes against Shinra's orders in order to follow his team to rescue another boy his age from danger (Rosen). Rosen and Sephiroth are expected to have an encounter next chapter and it's very strongly implied that Sephiroth will end up killing Rosen as a means of trying to protect his group/some other reason. It's gonna be fucked up and emotional either way.

But it is worth noting, of course, that non-college-educated people in the top 20% (such as due to inheritance or such) still voted R, and at higher frequencies.
Right now I feel politically homeless. The Republicans are obviously not an option. I disagree with the progressive Dems on foreign policy, but I disagree with the centrist Dems on economics to a great degree.
Yes, I mean the whole break down of who in what economic group (and then splitting it by race) voted for which party is not cut and dry, I just wanted to express frustration at the idea that if we just were "like FDR" or were progressive or whatever, people would flock to the Democratic banner and we'd win FDR in 1936 style landslides forever and always Aman. Because very clearly Joe Biden modeled himself on FDR or LBJ and did a bunch of very progressive stuff and like... the landslides and overwhelming popularity failed to show up. Its just annoying to see that take over and over when its clearly not true, now, I support all that stuff because I think its good stuff to do, but also lets be realistic its clearly not a vote winner (I don't think its a vote loser as such either)
personally I'm pretty comfortable being politically homeless. In a general sense I'm a Democrat but that really only describes any at least semi-serious person anywhere on the left of center of American politics. I personally believe in American leadership in the world, are we perfect? nope, but history shows us that one country is usually the lead, the agenda setter, the tone setter, the Primus inter pares, etc and if I have to pick between us and the other countries who want to be setting the agenda, what China? the techno-totalitarian state? Russia? thats literally waging a war of genocide as we speak? no thanks I'll take the flawed USA over those two any day. But I'm also progressive, I don't believe in a "little" interference by the state in abortion or trans healthcare I think people should be left alone to make their medical choices with their doctors. I believe in a role for the state in the economy, I believe in strong climate action (thus why American leadership in the world, China and Russia don't want to do shit on climate change) and that more immigration is a good thing.
and honestly I'm okay not fitting neatly into one camp with set answers for all our policy questions. We live in an age where aren't thinking, at all, much less for themselves, everyone spits out slogans with no meat behind them "Make American Great Again" wtf does that mean? "Green New Deal" huh? "Defund The Police" but we don't really mean defund we mean complex explanation followed by someone yelling "yes we do, abolish the cops!" "Free Palestine" "DOGE" "Make America Healthy Again" "raw milk!" "no cops at pride" we're all just yelling CRAP! and no one has any thoughts much less answers. So I'm not worried about fitting into a home, and having like minded people, if I agree with people 100% on everything political, I'm gonna start to get worried. Any political movement has to be big tent, has to involve people who don't agree on everything, doesn't mean you give up on what you believe in, you fight for it in the tent, and sometimes you lose and you sit it out because you don't get anywhere taking your toys and going home, you just keep fighting till you get what you want.

It is fair that Iroh and Zuko don't punished for their crimes like Ozai did? Does redemption mean they deserve to be rewarded?
Before we ask ourselves what's fair, what's more practical: forgiving and cooperating with the two Fire Nation royals that can (and want to) use legitimate means to not only end the war but also help make up for what their nation has done, or to lock them up somewhere and then try to defeat a nation that has been kicking the good guys's asses for a whole century and possibly having to stage a coup to put someone non-Fire Nation on the throne, which the citizens would obviously reject?
Can the heroes (and the whole world) affort to NOT have the Avatar learn firebending just to make Zuko feel like shit for not being forgiven? Can the world afford to keep fighting with the Fire Nation non-stop instead of changing it from within just to punish Zuko by not making him Fire Lord? Does the world gain anything by imprisoning Iroh, the heir that got cast aside, the general that doesn't bother with battles anymore, instead of letting him fight for their side to make up for the evil he did in the past? Is that truly having the moral high-ground or is that simply being stubborn and stupid?
There's a reason most former colonies in the real world immediately create strong diplomatic connections and trade stuff with their former colonizer. Why terms for peace are constantly exchanged through wars, no matter how brutal the mutual attacks become. If you focus so much on punishing the bad guy that you forget about making sure the innocent survive, you're going to get everybody killed either by being obliterated by the enemy or by running out of resources (including people that are willing/able to fight for the cause).
Now, don't get me wrong, it's valid to wonder "Is it fair that Zuko and Iroh don't get punished?" But if we do that, we also have to ask "Is it fair to cause more suffering and death just to punish them?" and "Is it fair to put them in the same category as everyone else in their nation when they are genuinely sorry and making an effort to fix things?" Not to mention "Is it even fair to put Zuko, who changed sides as a teenager, in the same category as Iroh, who only felt remorse for his actions as an adult?"
People are complicated. Justice, as a concept, is complicated. War is fucking complicated, tough to end, and creates TONS of inherently unfair situations. The writers of Avatar are well aware of it, but their answer to the problem has been pretty consistent: rehabilitation.
We are repeatedly told "The people of Fire Nation itself are not inherently evil, they were literally indoctrinaded for a whole century" and "EVERYONE is capable of great good and great evil." Characters are redeemed in the show ALL THE TIME, and the last episode has Zuko, who was victimized by Ozai his entire life, say that he now believes even Ozai isn't beyond redemption - provided, of course, that he ever bothers to put any effort into it.
The show is well-aware that not everybody wants a second chance. Or a third, or a fourth, and so on. That not everybody even DESERVES said chances. But that the door should remain open anyway because that's the only way to move forward - and that doesn't have to mean "Let the bad guys walk all over you." Ozai, who has yet to show any remorse for anything, is still in jail, without his bending and political power, meaning he cannot hurt anyone (which he explicitly would have done if he could) and that's where he'll stay until he decides to change. Zuko and Iroh, who are already sorry, get to live in harmony with others.
This is as close to "fair" an inherently unfair situation could ever get.

Sentinel 9.5
Every thirteen year old in this story is going through hell
Dear Parian, how do you puppet cloth dolls with boxing gloves on their hands?
Nah but this is nice to see them getting along with each other, and I'm glad that Vista gets to see something cute in such a blighted fucking time.
The background levels of desperation and fear in this setting remain very strong and evocative.
Gayyyyyy
Vista like "hey I'm not young enough to actually enjoy this, but I'm old enough to act polite about it"
God that's so fucking cool
Oh man who could have possibly predicted that putting a thirteen year old in constant life-or-death situations with people dying around her could possibly result in a warped perspective on death and dying, that's so weird
Oh man, who could have possibly predicted that enlisting a thirteen year old in a quasi-military policing organization where she's legitimately got seniority over high schoolers could possibly result in feeling distanced from her own age, that's so weird
So like, is there truly nowhere else to put the team portrait gallery than right where everyone sees them every time they enter? Just put them in another hallway or wing or something, especially if you're dropping bodies.
Still a little darkly funny that Browbeat doesn't even get a portrait, guy was straight up too new to even put in front of a camera
The idea that Coil has only managed to infiltrate the PRT at all because they're letting him infiltrate the PRT is. Oh my fucking God he's so bad at this. So far every win we've seen him take against other players is because they feel bad enough to let him have it. Coil, you have got to fucking hang it up my man, the minute someone decides to actually deal with you you're cooked
(It's almost certainly gonna be Taylor, on account of that child you kidnapped and forcibly addicted to drugs)
Okay so like. Hwoo. I keep talking about the expectations being put on the Wards in this fucking story but this is a really steep one. Let this fucking mole into your midst and let him do what he does. Let a tinker, a goddamn superpowered tech specialist, hang out where your stuff is.
I know they all agree to do it but they already all agreed to fight fucking Leviathan, Vista agreed to kill a man for seconds on the clock, we're waaaaay past the point where any boundaries might still be crossed
Hey you know what, self-awareness is good, it's healthy, I wish someone would let Taylor have some but that's fine
Okay, well, at least Piggot is willing to treat these kids a little like kids. And address some of the concerns that they have. And promise that she'll find some kind of compensation for the fact that these kids are going above and fucking beyond in their role as junior heroes.
Glad Kid Win gets a... win
and while I don't love Clockblocker making fun of Piggot, I get it. She's the authority figure in their lives, she consistently plays the role of bad cop with them. That's how it goes.
Okay so Vista turned thirteen on the day that Leviathan hit Brockton Bay, which means she's been at this since she was eleven, maybe younger. This now puts her pretty firmly in the same age bracket as Alec, and that might put her at silver or bronze for youngest known trigger event depending on how old Miss Militia was at the time.
Also, the fact that Vista has thrown herself into her career as a cape, at age thirteen, as a means to not have to spend time with her parents? That's bleak. I continue to maintain that she should be allowed to commit any misdemeanor she wants to and get away with it forever
So Hookwolf almost murdered an 11-12 year old and they truly can't just commit to having a single Triumvirate member sit on his Birdcage transport the entire way along just to make sure he actually gets gone? At least until they're out of the Empire's reach, surely, like what the fuck
Do the unspoken rules not kick in on attempted murder? Do you need a corpse to make it stick?
Jesus God, Sophia, I am trying to keep an open mind about you but so far you have just been such a jerk in so many directions.
Like obviously she's not doing well but what's the alternative for her at this point
Just gotta pick up the slack left by two older, more experienced(?) teammates who had a lot of hopes and emotional bonds riding on them. And Browbeat.
Does anybody on this team like Sophia?
Weld is good people. Also I think "empathetic" is technically the correct word unless the ability to warp space like putty also comes with emotion reading.
This is sweet.
Also, yeah, cry. It's good for you.
Godddddddd fucking dammit Sophia.
This is so unreasonably cruel to do to a teammate, never mind to a kid
"Bluh bluh life is pain, the real world is all about what's hard, suffering builds character" shut the fuck up Sophia, Vista put up bigger numbers against Leviathan and doesn't have a rusty knife in place of a personality.
Also "kids" girl you have at most three years on her
Big bad Shadow Stalker can't handle being the one under the microscope
Yeah no for real, the moment she gets provoked in a way even kind of resembling the way she provokes others, she resorts to acts of physical violence. Thin-skinned hypocrite, thy name is Sophia Hess.
Guess Vista's lucky she's not taller and more gangly or else Sophia would've tried to rip her ear off.
Current Thoughts
Vista is the PRT's strongest soldier and she is out there fighting their hardest battles. She also has not reached high school yet and possibly wasn't even in middle school when she first donned the costume. This whole system is a scam.
Cool to see Weld better settling into the leadership role, at least.
And then Sophia. Sophia, Sophia, Sophia. I don't know what the Undersiders have planned for you but right now I'm having a hard time feeling sympathy. Do unto others, you little maniac.

how is wonyoung perceived by fellow idols, female and male??
wonyoung's reputation among idols
based on tarot. i do not know these idols personally. energies are always changing. what i say is NOT straight fact. pls take it with a grain of salt!
female idols 4ofc, hangmrx, aceofc, moon, devil&10ofc, 10ofp
+ they perceive her as someone with very unbothered and peaceful energy. she's very drama-free in their eyes, you rarely catch her engage in fights or create conflicts. and although there is this sense of unapproachableness to her, ("should i go up to her? i don't know, i don't wanna bother her.." type of way) once you do talk to her, she has this very naturally nice and agreeable vibe to her. it's giving everybody's darling, wonyoung is known as the girl you just can't help but like. if you dislike her, there must be something wrong with you in their eyes.
so naturally, wonyoung has a lot of girls jealous of her. they see her as this "perfect" female idol who just has it all, and it spites them. i literally can hear them say "how can she even be like that? does she ever mess up? 🙄 " like it's annoying for someone to embody everything they wish they were, whether that's appearance-wise or career-wise, with her being the it girl of the 4th generation. i'm not exaggerating and saying it as it is, like the devil card is no joke when it comes to jealousy and envy. remember jyp saying that wonyoung was the perfect idol in every way? many female idols will agree with that statement, and it clearly frustrates them. she's the pretty and popular girl who everyone wants to hate for the sake of it, but you literally can't since she's an actual sweetheart. that's the energy i got very clearly. - she's very inflexible and stubborn in their eyes. like she's just doing her own thing, doesn't care about your stance or view on things at all, in fact doesn't even consider it. even if you present your take on something to her, she'll probably smile at you and politely decline your opinion, no matter how wrong she might be. it's this feeling of never really being able to get close to her, just very unapproachable and stuck in her ways, which can give off an arrogant or "know-it-all" vibe.
the moon card is also telling me, that there is this overly mysterious energy to her, where they just can't figure her out in any way. it's like they believe there must be so much hidden behind this mask of perfection that she puts on, but it's very difficult to actually decipher what that is. wonyoung seems to be a very private person behind the scenes as well, and doesn't like revealing much of her private life in general. she gives off this vibe of having a lot of secrets and being very uptight and overly careful about sharing things about herself. as if she doesn't really trust people, even within the industry.
male idols hermit, queofsw, 7ofw, 9ofp, kingofc+2ofc&lovers
+ male idols perceive wonyoung as a very independent, confident and self-sufficient woman. she not only seems very comfortable and content in her own skin, but has also evidently come to a place of financial success and stability through her very own efforts, which they respect a lot. there's just this vibe that she doesn't need anyone else in order to feel happy, and they're in awe of her self-reliance. i'm gonna be honest, i'm getting the feeling that many of these men still get surprised when they see a woman make it on her own, which is crazy to say the least. i can see them being all 😮 about a woman being able to get to such a high place without being in need of any man, and it's honestly baffling how ancient some of their mindsets still seem to be. (not surprising considering all the internalized misogyny still going on in south korea)
i'm also getting a lot of respect for her resilience when it comes to dealing with obstacles, especially things like hate-trains. they believe it's incredible for her to remain so strong and unmoving after being confronted with so much negativity.
wonyoung is very desired as well, the female idol that every korean man would mention as their idol type. a lot of them would love to be with her, but are aware it's difficult since she's extremely closed off, and not easy to get close to. she also exactly knows what she wants and is a smart and professional girl in their eyes, which intimidates many of them to an extent. there seems to be some male idol, perhaps a water sign, whom she had a close relationship with. i can sense a lot of jealousy surrounding him.
- she's too much of a loner and "buzzkill" in their eyes. in similar fashion to the female idols, many male idols seem to view her as someone who doesn't really know how to let lose and have fun, and is just way too uptight. one aspect they definitely share, is that both male and female idols just struggle approaching her in a comfortable manner since she always seems to be so lost in her own world. although she isn't necessarily unfriendly, she just isn't the type to care about socializing much and someone who prefers keeping to herself, which makes her very guarded in their eyes.

Soap for the character ask game plz :)
Do I really need a reason to yap about him? Nah, but I'll take it, thanks :)
If anyone else is interested, I'll be glad to talk about someone else from COD and BG3. The game itself is here if someone wants to reblog!
So. John "Soap" MacTavish.
favorite thing about them
Is "everything" a good enough answer? No? Damn. I guess I'll have to go with his passion. I can tie that to his ADHD, I can tie that to the fact that he's sunshine (and sun burns hot and flares), it doesn't matter - his emotions are bright, run hot, he's impulsive and he feels so strong. I relate to that, I also just like everything bright and flashy. His anger, his loyalty, his sense of justice, his love - they are so big and strong they cannot be contained inside his heart no matter how huge it is. This is what makes him dangerous, this is what makes him vulnerable, this is what makes him so fucking lovable to me.
least favorite thing about them
The fact that he prefers coffee over tea (source: his VA). I'm sorry, I can't stand coffee, my throat literally closes up and stops breathing if I enter some coffee-smelling space and it's not something I can control well (I tried, I swear). So the knowledge that living with Soap would involve the apartment reeking of the forbidden drink, and even worse, kissing him might taste like coffee... it's heartbreaking. I'm training that man to drink tea whether he likes it or not, coffee doesn't do anything for ADHDers anyway.
favorite line
I mean. I feel like using any of Ghoap batner here would be cheating cuz it is very much the best thing ever and also they're bouncing off each other. So I'll go with "Kids, guns and balloons. That's a new one."
It's at the start in Las Almas. I love listening to Soap in general, I love all the Scott-isms he has (even though it seems actual Scottish didn't appreciate those too much), I obviously love the funny lines he has or when he gets angry. But this one just stuck with me. Probably not because it's a Soap line, but because it's a sad line in general (and hits a little too close to home in the current situation).
But also I feel like it's kinda. The fact that I, a 22yo civilian am not actually surprised to see that "kids, guns and balloons" situation (although I am so fortunate to not be witnessing that directly), and Soap, a 26 (I think?) yo SAS Sergeant who ran off to enlist at 15-16 is. It says something about how he views the world, doesn't it? He lacks that cynicism. I've seen people say that veiwing him as a "happy go lucky" guy is incorrect, but I dunno, man. I think if someone who kills people for his job is surprised to see kids involved into crime+politics games, then he's a pretty damn optimistic lad that believes in the good in the world.
brOTP
Soap and Alejandro. There's just something so smooth, straightforward and inherently good about just two men coming to fight for what's right. Also nothing is funnier than Soap's constant cultural shock in Las Almas and Alejandro just chuckling at every silly question Johnny asks. Big brother Alejandro go go go!
OTP
Karlach x Soap for life, everything else is secondary.
nOTP
I reject the concept of nOTP, even the least likely/adhering to my tastes ships are at least interesting to explore. However, I am not a big fan of toxic relationships and such, so something like Soap x Makarov or Soap x Graves would be interesting to look at, but probably upsetting.
random headcanon
He likes the pink Orbit bubblegum, the one that comes in little stripes. His dad used to bring those at the end of the work week, sometimes unopened, sometimes with just a couple pieces left, and Soap stashed them away in his pillow case when he had the willpower not to eat them all at once. His old pillow in his childhood bedroom still smells like bubblegum.
absolutely based on my own life
unpopular opinion
I don't know what's popular to say what's unpopular. But maybe the fact that I think that Soap isn't like a total horndog 24/7? I still think he is pretty horny, more than an average person, but I also think that he's more tactile than anything and that even when he gets a random boner or just is hot and bothered, he can be satisfied with non-sexual touch. But he does not respond well to touch starvation, oh no.
song i associate with them
I am so bad at assosiating songs with characters/ships etc :( I'll be boring and repeat myself for the third time: Ren's "Loco"
youtube
favorite picture of them
That comission of him and Karlach I got, duh
But if we're talking ingame, nothing beats him being pretty and doing puppy eyes in that Milena interrogation scene. That hand reaching scene alone has me by the throat.
Thank you for asking about him!! Love youu <3

Could I request Ryunosuke, Iori, Tenn, and Gaku witness their s/o beat up the person who's harassing them?
Ryunosuke, Iori, Tenn, and Gaku witness their s/o beat up the person who's harassing them
a/n: i love violent reader asks like go off girlies but ive been getting a lot of them are you guys ok-
.::.
Tsunashi Ryunosuke
After calling your boyfriend a fraud and a womanizer, despite being in the middle of walking away from them, your feet skid on the pavement, whipping around to give a rude individual a physical version of what you imagined doing to them. Which was punching their face
Unlike the others on the list, Ryuu is quick to immediately try to break the fight up. You're better than this, he thinks. And due to his size and strength, doing so is rather easy (or depending on your size and strength, but he eventually gets you off)
" (y/n), please, lets just go.."
He's not above glaring back at the harasser as he puts an arm around your shoulder while you walk away. A silent warning to not mess with either of you.
If you're generally a bit on the rowdier side, he wouldn't expect you to fight someone unless the first punch was thrown
If you're on the softer side, he'd be extremely caught off guard by your sudden switch, and feels a bit guilty feeling like you may have felt the need to resort to that despite your kind nature just to defend them
He feels like you were doing your best to protect his honor as his partner, and he truly appreciates that.. but maybe you could come to be a little less violent next time
Izumi Iori
As soon as you start punching he's trying to get you off of them.
Being the way he is, he'd already had measures in place to keep the stalker from interfering in any way that matters, both in person and online. Today just happened to be an unlucky day where they were in arms reach when you and Iori were about to walk him back to his dorm.
Though, he's not that strong, and you were pretty vicious, so his arms fail him the first 2 times he attempts to pry the suffering harrasser from your grasp; even he's out of breath after doing so
He holds your shoulders from behind, waiting for you to calm down and your breathing to slow before doing anything else, your adrenaline was still up
"(y/n)-san, they aren't worth our time. I've handled everything already.." His tone indicated softness, almost like a plead for you to snap out of it, even if you were doing this for him, it was a risky thing.
Once you've settled down, you nod, and the two of you head off.
Is Iori a bit worried that the situation will progress after this for better or worse? Yes.
But, he finds himself more focused on your wellbeing than some rude person he doesn't care about.
If you're the rowdy type, he'll sigh to himself as he does when you get up to these things every other time, and politely ask you don't fight anyone for his sake again
If you're the soft type, he'll run his hand through your hair, feeling even more bad you felt the need to resort to physical violence out of frustration for his situation...but also mostly surprised and while he'd never assume you'd do anything to him, notes that this is something that can happen
Kujo Tenn
Tenn knows this is wholly unprofessional and inappropriate behavior on your end...
....but he'll let a few more punches be thrown before kindly but sternly asking that you let it go.
He wasn't a fighter and much less in any position to retaliate, especially violently or in any way he'd possibly wish to. So it was a bit satisfying to watch, even if he wouldn't prefer you dirty your hands with such filth
Though, if it went on any further, what kind of boyfriend or idol would he be? Even as the victim (who's been pretty longsuffering with this particular harasser) he decides that itd be better to call it after a few hits even though the probably deserve it. Whats more important is getting away from this rabid fan and getting proper authorities to handle it.
He doesn't pull you off, but rather handles you gently, putting a hand firmly on your shoulder and shaking his head to let you know thats enough and it isn't worth it to get in further trouble (especially if they report it try to play the victim from their bruises)
You two walk away hand in hand, leaving the stalker to writhe on the ground.
if you're a rowdy type, he feels the need to scold you, and he will, just a tad. Tenn probably should've seen it coming a mile away though, and he understands your frustration, so he wont be harsh.
If you're a softer type, He'll request that you don't take things like this to heart so you don't lose your temper again. He hasn't, after all. You scared him
Yaotome Gaku
He is.....utterly flabbergasted
Especially because he feels he couldve well handled that on his own, yet you stepped up first because the disrespect settled in faster for you than him, even though HE was the one being targeted
Gaku is so frozen he forgets that he should probably seperate you from the other person
You get a few good hits in before he's dragging you away, maybe even over his shoulder if you're small enough. He won't bother to spare the other person a glance, focusing more on calming you by reassuring you that you don't have to go to such extremes since the situation is already being handled in a different manner
Once far enough away, he sets you down with a sigh. You nearly gave him a heart attack. It was far too sudden for him to be satisfied nor upset with you.
First and foremost, he makes sure you're okay, even if he didn't see the person fight back. His slender fingers brush over your cheeks, wiping across invisible bruises. He's being a bit protective, maybe even in a pushy manner when you're clearly unharmed.
Gaku straightens your clothes out as well
"You good?" Is all he asks. Its all that matters after that.
He won't scold you, but he will remind you that was a bold and maybe not entirely thought out move you just made. But he can't really talk, easily envisioning himself doing the same thing if you had a stalker or being harassed.
Wrapping an arm around you, you two head home or wherever you were going in peace.
If you're the rowdy type, Gaku knew there'd likely be a day this would happen, he just wish he'd tuned in sooner before the stalker was half bruised up.
If you're the softer type, he promises you'll never have to do something like that again

Luck of the Draw
Day #8 - Prompt: Band Politics | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: T | CW: Language | POV: Jeff | Pairing: None | Tags: Making Decisions, Fussing and Fighting, Like Overgrown Children
Jeff passes out the poker chips, counting out a stack for each of them, to see how this goes. Because there's clearly no other way. They keep fighting about the stupidest shit, and if they're gonna make this tour work, they're gonna have to stop bickering over nonsense.
"Each chip is a unilateral decision, no pushback. Over and done," Jeff says, and pulls out the baggie full of paper slips covering all the dumb shit they've been arguing about.
It's not any of the big decisions. Those things can't be decided like this. But the small shit? Absolutely.
"Draw a slip of paper," Jeff says, "and if you care enough about what's on it, you spend one of your chips to make the decision between the options we've been discussing. No going rogue. These have to be decisions that make sense, logically, even if we all don't agree."
Everybody nods. They roll a die, to decide who will get to go first, and it's Eddie, which is no surprise. He's always had that kind of good luck behind a roll.
Eddie draws a piece of paper, and reads, "What to paint on the van."
Goodie and Gareth both groan, and Eddie squirms in his seat with delight, handing over one of his chips.
Eddie's had strong opinions about this, and it's pretty fucking lucky that this is what he drew. If Jeff hadn't set everything up himself, he'd definitely think Eddie had cheated somehow to rig the system. There's probably nothing else Eddie has fought harder for, so this is a best case scenario, because they won't have to listen to him bitch anymore.
"Picture it," Eddie says, hands waving, as if he's setting the scene, "Corroded Coffin. Naked pin-up lady-"
"Why on earth do you want a naked lady?" Goodie interrupts, the ongoing fight picking right back up.
Which is not allowed. The luck of the draw has spoken. Eddie gets to choose.
"It's ironic," Eddie says, as if that's obvious.
"It's not-" Goodie starts to snap, and Jeff has to nip this in the bud.
"No. Nope. Eddie gets to decide this one. Next!"
And Gareth grabs a slip of paper from the hat, reads it, and groans.
"What is it? Jeff asks.
"Getting to decide the standard setlist," Gareth answers.
"You want it?"
Gareth waffles, not wanting to give up his turn, clearly, but also probably not caring about the setlist. This has been a back-and-forth Jeff has had with Eddie, and Eddie alone. Gareth doesn't care what order they play songs, just that they play.
"Pass," Gareth says, throwing the slip of paper back into the drawing pool.
Jeff shakes them again, and lets Goodie take his pick.
"Shotgun schedule," Goodie says with absolute glee, and Gareth throws his hands in the air.
"Well, that's fucking great!" Gareth snaps.
Jeff reaches over and squeezes Gareth's shoulder, "He gets to choose the schedule, he does not get it all the time. Right, Goodie?" Jeff prompts and Goodie grumbles, but nods.
Gareth will still get screwed, Jeff's absolutely certain of that, but he will get his turn. Jeff will make sure of it. They aren't trying to piss each other off that bad, he hopes.
And then Jeff grabs one himself, "Tour routing."
Eddie starts to argue, because he has big thoughts about this, too. Eddie has big thoughts about everything, and he'd steamroll them all if they'd let him.
They've been fighting about the route the next tour should take. Stay in the Midwest, or venture out further. Whether the van can handle that, even. This one is a big responsibility, and Jeff wants to take it on, so they don't end up on a wild goose chase of a tour.
"It's mine," Jeff says, forking over his chip.
And then they start all over, picking and choosing, until there's a stack of papers left, and Gareth is the only one with a chip left, because he skipped that first turn.
He keeps drawing and throwing them back, ending up redrawing things over and over again, and Jeff's not sure what he's looking for in there. They're never gonna finish this up at this rate.
"Gareth. It's just you. Open them and set them aside. Pick the one you want. It's fine. Just get on with it," Jeff says, trying to steer this in the right direction.
Gareth does, until he has a table full of open slips, looking over all the options leftover. Options they will still have to make decisions on, eventually, but not today. Jeff's hit his limit for the day, they all have, except Gareth apparently, as he wavers.
"For fuck's sake, pick one or I'm picking one for you!" Goodie shouts at him, and Gareth just ignores him.
"What do you want, kid? What are you looking for?" Eddie finally asks.
"Room assignments," Gareth said, "did someone else get that?"
They all shake their heads.
"That wasn't even an option. Have we been fighting about that?" Jeff asks.
Gareth looks disappointed, "No. But I just didn't want to fight about it."
Jeff always assumed he'd stay with Goodie and Gareth would stay with Eddie. A given. But if Gareth wants to pick that, fine. Jeff scrawls it on a piece of paper and slides it over, "All yours."
Gareth looks thrilled, and Jeff starts to clean up the mess. This isn't over, not by a long shot, but at least they've made some progress.
Eddie and Goodie are gone, out to grab a couple pizzas, and Jeff can't resist asking. "Why the room assignments?"
Gareth looks up, "Because I don't want to fight with Goodie all day and then all night, too."
Oh. This is gonna be a bigger issue than he thought, probably. Nobody warns you that these things are the hardest parts about being in a band.
The little squabbles, and slights, that snowball.
The resentments that build, and fester.
Jeff catches his eye, "I'll make sure that doesn't happen."

Ichi the Witch ch.13 thoughts
[You're As Cold As Ice]
(Topics: criticism - presentation, character analysis - Desscaras/Togeice/Ichi, thematic analysis - talent/philosophy, speculation - arc progression)
This week's chapter is meant almost solely as an introduction to Togeice as a character rather than just a plot device to give Ichi grief. To accomplish this, Nishi lists off all of Togeice's most notable accomplishments
Tell Don't Show
A child prodigy who developed Mantinel's security system, a beloved teacher, a seasoned Witch with 16 acquisitions to her name, and even an endorsement from Monigold to become the next head of Mantinel, Togeice sure sounds impressive!
Except...we still have no context for any of that. We don't know what it takes to run Mantinel or even how big of an organization it is, we don't know what the average number of acquisitions any given Witch has, or even how much weight Monigold's word has. We can infer a lot of that from the fact that Monigold is the head of such a politically important organization and that she's pointing to Togeice's record as evidence of her prowess, but without a frame of reference for any of this information, I'm not exactly blown away by any of it
Still, it's not like it's entirely lost on me or anything. Like I said, I can make inferences, and it's clear enough that Togeice is meant to be a big deal that I think we can take this chapter at face value, I just feel like this flavor of character introduction needs a little more prep work to get the full effect
All of that said, this chapter did help put a few things into perspective for me. In particular, what makes Desscaras the "Strongest Witch"
Might Doesn't Make Right
When asked if she would consider nominating Desscaras as the next leader of Mantinel, Monigold bluntly refuses the notion, citing her and other Witches' egotism as a disqualifying factor
Desscaras is clearly powerful, but she lacks discipline, foresight, cooperation, work ethic...she doesn't have a single quality that suggests she would know the first thing about being a leader or maintaining an organization. Under her leadership, at best Desscaras would allow Mantinel to fall into chaos due to her own negligence, and at worst she'd drive it into the ground herself with ill-conceived policies that would likely harm its reputation and relationships
Togeice, however, actually cares about Mantinel and its longevity and has the skills necessary to preserve it. She may not be physically capable of beating Desscaras in a fight, but she's far better equipped for a leadership role
This is yet another example of the cast's unique talents being highlighted, suggesting that this won't just be a theme surrounding Kumugi, but rather one that permeates the entire story. We'll have to keep an eye on how Nishi continues to develop it, but I'm starting to think that talent is going to be one of if not the foremost theme of the series
In fact, it's already being used to paint Togeice as the underdog in this competition
Bad Matchup
In shocking contrast to her fastidious nature, Togeice doesn't seem to have any battle sense, trying to brute-force her way to victory by blasting the entire area with ice instead of systematically searching for Kindake. Based on Kindake and Hisame's dialogue, this flashy and aggressive approach is pretty common for Witches, so it's possible that Togeice came into that habit naturally based on the nature of Magik battles, but going by what Monigold said, her style is unusually wanton even by Witch standards
Maybe she just doesn't have any respect for combat as an art form, or she's strong enough that such a straightforward approach has simply never failed her, but either way her detail-oriented style simply doesn't manifest in how she fights. While she is reducing Kindake's hiding spots, the only reason he's concerned about that is because it will make it easier for Ichi to find him, not because he seems to actually consider Togeice herself a threat
While I thought that her poor sense of direction would be what hampered her ability to track down Kindake, she's managed to circumvent that expectation by not even looking at all. She probably thinks she's bound to catch him eventually, but really he's just going to keep slipping through her attacks until he's cornered by Ichi
Everything is stacked against Togeice here, both despite her overwhelming capacity for force and because of her inability to apply her best talents to a situation that seems like it would perfectly complement them
Meanwhile, Ichi's hunting skills are not only completely appropriate to the situation, he's also proving more than capable of applying them as needed. The problem, though, is that he's being portrayed almost like a villain
Good is Not Nice
While it's almost certainly just for comedy, there's no denying that Ichi is chasing a small, cute, nearly defenseless critter with bloodlust in his eyes. His relentless pursuit of Kindake, who again hasn't actually violated Death for Death aside from simply saying he would kill people while throwing a tantrum, makes Ichi look pretty far from the heroic role that being the protagonist would usually fill
I think this is going to help flesh out the nuance of Ichi's character, as I've been speculating from the beginning that Death for Death was a thin veneer meant to hide and temper Ichi's violent nature, and that his justifications of D.f.D. would likely become flimsier over time. I don't know if this is meant to be the start of it, but I think it will come to serve as an early warning sign when Ichi falls down the slippery slope later
Ichi taking on the role of the heel here also furthers my suspicion that neither he nor Togeice will win this challenge and a third party will swoop in to steal the kill. With Ichi being this cruel, it almost feels like he doesn't deserve to win, but it's not like we want him to lose because of that either. Instead, I think both Ichi and Togeice would stand to gain a lot more as characters from having their bout interrupted
I may change my tune with this coming week's chapter, as Kindake may prove more aggressive or Ichi may lighten up, but for now, like I said last week, things seem to be stacked a little too far in Ichi's favor for his win to be satisfying
Until next time, let's enjoy life!
