Kinda a spiritual successor to if *insert Pokémon* evolved like a Digimon😅. In this case it’s what if the Pokémon protags had Digimon.

This is Gen 1-5 I’ll do the others later. Their partners are based on the starters they chose it masters.

No brainer of course he gets the fire lizard. As for him going in the virus direction a bit that’s because Red has Mega Charizard X.

Anyway as the og boy he probably uses a crest or something to evolve his partner. His dark Digivolution is at the perfect level as a reference to Tai.

Honestly with Ethan I just stuck to the whole flame thing and giving him a flaming partner that is not a dragon or dinosaur.

I kinda just gave them armors for funzies but only Ethan would probably actually use it. I imagine Silver having Dianamon and they end up jogressing their Digimon in the final battle.

Unfortunately for poor Brendan I couldn’t find anything to serve as a super ultimate. If anyone has any ideas then tell me.

3rd one so…Biomerge? I think that would be especially cool with Bloomlordmon.

I guess since he’s number 4 that alternatively spirit evolution is on the table 😅. I mean…your throwing hands in Legends Arceus so maybe it could work. Especially since Digimon Frontier has a lot of holy figures involved too.

Overall kept to the samurai theme with Oshawott. I imagine his mega gets influenced by the dragon stone.

He 100% evolves his Digimon the same way Masaru does. This boy is clinically insane enough to throw hands with Pokémon in the manga. No I’m not joking.

I’ve decided that Black is either immortal or a Pokémon because those are the only explanations for how he isn’t dead. So go right ahead and fight those digital monsters Unova man.

So Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has an Eevee outbreak event...you know what that means? Shiny hunting time!

I spent literal years trying to collect a full set of shiny Eeveelutions before this... starting in gen V with a Vaporeon I got ina trade, and ending in Gen VIII, when I got Leafeon in an outbreak.

This... this took 2 days. For a tip find an outbreak near a city, knock out 60 Eevees, create a normal type sparkling power sandwich (I recommend 1 fried filet, one salty herba mystica and one sweet, spicy or sour herba mystica) and then just walk in and out of the city till a shiny spawns, since they despawn every time you enter a town.

Pokémemories: The Black/White Chapter

These last two days of October are the last two days I'm going to go into specifics about story arcs in the Pokémon Adventures manga series, because boy oh boy is this a special case.

Hidenori Kusaka seemed to run into a problem when adapting the Black/White games. Its story was the most thoroughly crafted in the game series to date, and yet at the same time it was highly reminiscent of the exact sort of storytelling Kusaka had been engaging in from the beginning. Meaning that what felt new and revolutionary for the games would be old hat for the manga. As such, he and Satoshi Yamamoto clearly struggled early into the Black/White Chapter on how to distinguish it. Therefore it felt exactly like the game's story, except that the characterizations for the central characters (Black, White, Cheren, Bianca, Professor Juniper and N, all pictured above) were totally wrong. So I was not a fan of this story arc, at all.

Then, about 1/3rd of the way in, this happened.

At the time, I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about this moment, but I did know that it was the first big, jolting, "WTF!?" moment the arc had pulled that separated it from the games' plot.

From that point onward, Kusaka and Yamamoto pulled off a truly remarkable glow-up.

In many ways, Gen V's Black/White Chapter is the complete, diametric opposite of Gen III's Ruby/Sapphire Chapter. Whereas that arc opened up with promise yet only got worse and worse as it went on, this arc opened up lackluster yet only got better and better as it went on. The characterization problems were fixed, new events were added into the game's while other events from the games had their order shuffled around, stronger ties to the sequel were established, and the finale was like the games' endgame on steroids...and closing on an even more emotional note. In the end, this arc can stand beside the games as an equal.

On my time scrolling through tumblr I’m very happy to see that the Pokémon fanbase is really chill here and doesn’t seem to be complaining or at each others throats or as toxic as in other social media sites.

Like, holy shit, it’s so much more enjoyable to look at Pokémon related stuff on here wayyy more than on other sites like Instagram for example since I’ve been on that app for over a decade.

It’s kinda surreal to me, because ever since 2019, I’ve been very used to Pokémon discussions being very bitter and cynical, things like how “the franchise isn’t good anymore” or “it hasn’t been in 10 years” or how “anyone who likes any of the new games are shills” or “meat riders” or that people who like or enjoy the newer games are “the reason why the franchise isn’t good anymore”, like…I haven’t seen anyone being cynical assholes about Pokémon around here, something that I have unfortunately been very used to seeing for the past 4 years.

It’s honestly a shame cause a lot of the negative discussions and discourse about Pokémon during that time had an extremely negative impact on how I enjoyed the franchise for a really long time, I remember I went from being extremely excited towards sw/sh to a toxic sw/sh hater and supressed myself from talking about or being passionate towards the games past gen 5 for a really long time despite them being the ones that I played the most during my adolescence, I remember I thought what I was doing made me look smarter and thought that it made me look like I didn’t have “shit taste” in video games and that it would make me look like I wanted what was best for the series but in reality I just became a huge bully, it didn’t help that I was friends with people who acted the same way, I cut them off my life a long time ago and thankfully I stopped behaving that way around last year and since then, I’ve become far less bitter and cynical cause if it, I still don’t like Sw/Sh and I still think they’re to worst mainline games, but I can care less if there’s people who just like those games.

And yes I’m obviously aware that there are fans who are toxic towards defending the games and I don’t condone that behavior whatsoever either, I’m just talking about the more cynical side of the fanbase because that’s the part of the fanbase I’ve been to most exposed to for the past 4 years. Thankfully I’ve moved away from that side of the Fanbase and I am now able to enjoy Pokémon like I did when I was 14 again without a single care about any sort of discourse or other peoples opinions getting in the way of enjoying the games, I swear I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as much as I did if I didn’t let go of my toxic behavior, like that game has become my 3rd or 4th favorite Pokémon game and it has my favorite story in the franchise now.

I need to clarify I’m obviously not against anyone criticizing the newer games, Pokémon as a whole, or people who simply just have concerns regard legends Z-A like wether it’ll be glitchy/unpolished like Sc/Vi for example, I have my criticisms regarding the newer games too just don’t be a cynical asshole about it.

Another thing I want to mention is that yes I know that tumblr will have toxic Pokémon fans too, every site will have toxic fans in them no matter what, it’s just that here it’s not as prevalent on other sites and it’s much more easy to avoid.

Tldr: wow the Pokémon fanbase is way more bearable here, and that’s very refreshing due to my bad experiences with other toxic fans.

I grew up on Disney movies, like most people where I’m from. That means that I never got to experience different movies, I never got to branch out. I had PBS, Disney, Noggin, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, etc… I remember when Teen Titans went off the air, I remember when Noggin turned into Nick Jr.

I remember crying when my parents thought that the TV shows I was watching made me behave in certain ways (nope, I’m just autistic)

I only got those cartoons when i was a bit older, I remember having an antenna and watching TLC, and GCN because that’s all we could get

I remember going to my grandparents house and watching MASH or The Andy Griffith Show, or old movies like Pollyanna and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, I watched White Christmas, the original Miracle on 34th Street from the 30s, Rudolph, and the original Frosty The Snowman

I watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Dexter’s Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, The Flinstones, old school Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry

I had VHS tapes for the original Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, and My Little Pony

while I had lots of “normal mainstream TV” from multiple generations, I got easily bored because it didn’t have a whole lot of wonder

I’m not an old soul by any means, in fact I’m pretty middle of the pack gen Z, born in the early 2000s

you could call me cultured all you wanted but I started enjoying TV in 3rd grade, watching the Japanese dub for the first season of AOT because the english dub hadn’t yet been released

I discovered as I got older that I preferred anime to “normal TV” and that got me into MHA, Black Butler, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, Hunter x Hunter, Pokémon, and many other shows like them

I’m glad that I was able to branch out and discover my interests, now I’m finally able to watch Studio Ghibli movies and I can say that I love them so much more than most of the media I grew up on

I honestly think it’s great to let kids branch out and discover their own interests, I can say for myself that the shows I currently prefer to watch are South Park, Shameless, and Bluey and my favourite movies are Studio Ghibli movies, and the 1975 version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I think it’s amazing when I show kids a piece of media I like or grew up on and they fall in love, and I urge you to help people branch out for new media no matter what their age is

Okay I grew up with 3rd gen on the gameboy and I’m guessing Luigi did too. I used to loath finding shroomish (cus I was stuck at that point in the game at the time because I wasn’t a strong reader at 7 years old.) but now as an adult I’ve come around on those Pokémon I used to loath for being unspecial and inescapably common in the early game. Im guessing Luigi likes breloom because of a predisposition to shroomish. Also you face a lot of water type Pokémon later on. And I know that as a kid I would default to Torchic as my starter (cus karate chicken cool) so assuming Luigi wasn’t picking Treecko as a starter, breloom was probably carrying him during the surf sections.
