This December marks 1 whole year

It's been a whole year since Cedar-dog walked into my life completely out of nowhere. I never went out looking for a dog. And despite all the peeps on Reddit telling me how hounds were "tough" for first-time dog owners, there was no way I would let this abandoned pup go to the pound.

I'm glad I didn't.

Having him in my life has genuinely enriched it. It's frustrating at times because he's got significant separation anxiety issues, but I'll do anything/everything I can to make things work. A year ago, I wasn't sure if I could handle having a dog (Cedar's my first dog, I mostly grew up around cats, lol). But now, I couldn't imagine my life without him.

My wife got Cedar a little bandana, and he somehow grabbed hold of it around 5 minutes after this photograph was taken and proceeded to show us exactly how he felt about it. lol

Look, statistically speaking, I will outlive Cedar. So, I want to ensure our time together is fun, that he gets lots of love and attention, and has plenty of toys and treats, along with a comfy bed and unique presents for special days (birthdays, Christmas, New Year, etc.). This is why I take SO MANY photographs. It's because one day, he won't be here... and these photographs will serve as a memoir of his life and time on this godforsaken rock we like to call Earth.

UPDATE: A Christmas Angel appeared and donated! Thank you so much!!! I now have enough money for medicine. Thank you!!!

So my dog, Frida, has heartworm and needs to go on meds right away. After bills, I do not have the funds to get the medicine. I am cutting every corner in my finances I possibly can and have been eating rice and beans and lentils for over a month in order to make this work. Shes a great dog and I love her more than anything. If anyone would be able to help a girl and her hound dog in need, I would appreciate it. The first round of medicine is $150. Any bit helps and I hate to beg but I would do anything to save her.

July 5th, 2024: Pt 2

Today’s Dog: The Plott Hound! Plott Hounds are unique among coonhounds because they do not descend from foxhounds. They are named after the Plott family of North Carolina, who were their initial breeders. In shows, Plotts only became widely accepted in the early 2000s. It is a requirement to have the fur brindled if a Plott is to be shown. They are a short haired, medium sized hound, and are only allowed to have white on their chest and feet when being shown. Plott Hounds are very common in mixed breeds in the US, and are the state dog of North Carolina!

Today’s Monkee: That Was Then, This Is Now! This track was released in 1986 and was written by Vance Brescia who wrote it for his band The Mosquitos the year prior. Michael Lloyd (who did the music on Dirty Dancing) produced That Was Then, This Is Now! This is a Micky lead and was the Monkees’ first Top 40 hit since 1968 with DW Washburn.

my sweet dear miss sandy dog is fading, as one does on this mortal plane. i'm going to see her tomorrow, flying up above and out of these snow storms, down into a land of green moss warmth, montreal's snow falls turn into loud and trembling thunderstorms. sandy baby is my best friend, i've held her since she was 5 months old, now we're both grown up with our own aches and pains. she is best known for napping in my colored-lighting bedroom, both back home and here home (green, pink); for sitting in the sun in her papason chain; for ripping toys apart and leaving carcasses surrounding our house; for sticking her face in other people's burrow homes; for rolling around crazy in the grass; for sniffing and loving all my friends; the two of us running wild in our woods. my sweet dear baby, how i long to hold you forever.
