The Worhedd brothers, Randal and Irving. They’s assassassins, which is a disturbingly lucrative industry since nothing stays dead in It’s Color Theory.

Randal’s the Orchid Pink Drewman; the more dominant personality between the duo. He’s the loud, theatrical sort, which is of course the absolute best personality to have when you’re a sniper.

Irving’s the Lavender Blue Drewman. The younger brother, he wields a sword. He’s by far the more professional of the two, but his overly flashy techniques mean he’s actually worse at murderfying people than Randy.

These two neutrals have absolutely no relevance to the first season, but I can see them getting a few appearances in other seasons that feature the side cast more heavily.

Also there’s Orchid and Landon, the regular orchid and lavender Drewmans, for comparison.

This is the first appearance of Elio, Erica, Brody, Rodney, Aoki, and Saffron in It’s Color Theory. Erica and Rodney had previously appeared under the names “Aubrey” and “Avery” in the old continuity.

This is the second appearance of Orchid, Lloyd, and Hermes and the third appearance of Dwight. This is the former two’s first speaking role.

This marks the debut of Contrasting, a technique where a sufficiently talented artist can spawn whatever they draw. A Master Artist can do this with any drawing voluntarily, but most have to be able to draw realistically in comparison to the show’s art style. This is also the first time we see one of Olive’s drawings since her debut.

All the characters in this episode were either in Rough Sketch or were planned for it. Saffron is the sole exception.

At least one Drewman of all seven color types appears for the second consecutive time.

None of the six founders appear in this episode.

This is the first episode characters from outside the main company have dialogue where the actual leads don’t.

Elio is the first relative of a side character to appear, being Orchid’s younger brother.

For simplicity’s sake, episodes that feature a lot of side characters no longer feature their or ICT’s surnames in the splash text. Despite this, Orchid still addresses Olive as “Ms. Zanille”.

Despite having been around since episode 13, this is the first episode Martin appears where he doesn’t speak.

Martin, Olive, and Tanner as a trio originates from Season Two of Rough Sketch, where they were the only three (at the time) teenagers introduced that season and are now the only characters introduced them to be a part of ICT. Despite this and occasionally being lumped with RS’ Season One cast, they only featured together in one episode: “More Art than Science 4/4”.

The drawings are as follows: Orchid’s is in color as she’s teaching the class. Erica’s is more or less how butterflies are typically drawn in ICT’s art style, reflecting her intelligence and slightly snobby nature. Rodney draws three, reflecting his overachieving. Brody’s features a creepy face on the wings and is in inverted colors. Dwight’s is a gray chrysalis, showing him to be artsy yet bleak. Hermes’ is stylized and anthropomorphic, as he’s an eccentrically creative character. Aoki’s is fairly standard, and he himself is very straightforward. Saffron’s is more stylized than Erica’s, and she’s goofy and spontaneous. The main three’s drawings predictably stand out as well; Olive’s is realistic to show her skill, Tanner’s is actually a fairy because he completely misunderstood the task given to him, and Martin’s is a picture of Noth, a character from a completely different project.

Martin is the only character to use a tablet rather than a sketchbook.
