#Playing all kinds of roles

On one hand, Young Justice is kind of neglected by the actual superheroes that should be looking out for them in a lot of crucial ways and very much failed by the adults around them
But on the other hand Red Tornado straight up hosts a parent-teacher conference where their respective legal guardians all show up, barring Batman who’s in traffic so Nightwing fills in instead because Robin’s dad does not know he’s a vigilante which is objectively hilarious
#Superboy does not have a name and his ass is constantly getting groomed like Clark please take a more active role in his life#And all of these guys need a healthy interaction with their respective legacies that does not involve heroing#Take them out for lunch! Play a video game with them! Let them be a kid around you without getting criticized!#Red Tornado had barely reconnected with his own humanity and he’s taken a more active role in being like they are safe happy and learning#compared to the people who literally are the reason they exist in the first place#and is the only one who seems to recognize their potential and ability as a team! and he wants others to know that!#and it’s kind of heartbreaking because the JLA should be paying attention to them and noticing how they succeed and instead just show up#at the worst possible time and take things out of context and criticize them and bestie I bet you they are a lot better of a hero#than *you* were at 14-16 because they actually are going out and making a difference and saving people#but the ones who should support them the most are barely there for them at all#someone give these kids healthy and appropriate emotional support I am begging you#yj#young just us#young justice#yj98#bart allen#tim drake#kon el#conner kent#superboy#robin#dc impulse#cassie sandsmark#wonder girl#cissie king jones#arrowette#greta hayes#slobo dc#empress#anita fite

the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.
and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.
And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.
#pjo#percy jackson#riordanverse#nico di angelo#i will also note it is implied though we never see that Hazel has the exact same powers as Nico#and Hazel has trained with her powers way longer than Nico has plus is older so theoretically is more powerful already#she killed a giant all by herself. sank a small island. and successfully subdued Gaea for like another 60 years#so given that + her also having Nico's powers then *Hazel* is theoretically the strongest demigod no contest#Jason and Thalia end up kind of nerfed by the plot in that neither is allowed to overshadow Percy either#but they dont play the same roles that characters like Nico do - Nico keeps getting stupid abilities just for convenience factor#and Bianca never got the opportunity to use many powers besides astral projection/dream manipulation and similarly hades kid illusion stuff#and general ghost stuff. and she does all that as a ghost really. her killing the skeleton wasnt even her powers that was just a normal sta#and it was just by virtue of her being a hades kid and fulfilling the ''can kill these skeletons'' requirement that it blew up#technically she also showcases underworld immunity with the lethe stuff wearing off but that's very subtle#Hazel also doesnt play the same role as Nico and so doesnt get to showcase all that#plus is similarly nerfed with the ''cant be cooler than Percy'' constraint and so never gets to really do anything#even though logistically she is the most powerful and should showcase the full extent of her abilities to the same degree as Percy and Nico#Jason at least gets a little bit more wiggle room than Thalia being a main protagonist#Nico just gets the most wiggle room out of both not being a protagonist and being functionally a dues ex machina most of the time#versus Thalia or Bianca who are only ever secondary or supporting characters

to have this line delivered BY klytemnestra's body and actor!!! we do NOT have klytemnestra's corpse after all because she is walking and talking and addressing the court and arguing for the prosecution!!! her corpse is nOT a cold hard fact!!! it proves nothing.
#new eumenides take. orestes is acquitted BECAUSE he is in a play.#his defense is that he was an actor (acting the role scripted for him by apollo) but it should have been that CLYTEMNESTRA was an actor#and that death was her enacted role#orestes can't be convicted of killing her because clytemnestra got right up and came back on as athena#this is the robert icke oresteia. which im kind of okay with not having seen in 2022 bc it would have destroyed me#i cut off the speaker attribution (which is klytemnestra) bc speaker attributions are not at all real in act iv#the actress both is and is not playing klytemnestra at this point#so i would say the line is not delivered by klytemnestra but it is delivered by klytemnestra's body.#mine

Sometimes I think about Urianger's role in and feelings on the Thancred-Ryne dynamic and I think watching it kills him a bit inside. For several reasons.
Like, to begin with there's the guilt he's been carrying with him since he ushered Minfilia to the first, how he effectively killed the person Thancred cared about the most in the world and who's "death" ended up causing Ryne's entire Situation. He looks at what's happening between them and can only think "I caused this" even though that's not really true. No one person is responsible for this outcome, it's a culmination of several circumstances and the consequences of them. Logically, Urianger knows this. But it doesn't matter, because his guilt is overpowering his logic.
And also, like. What Thancred is doing here, the way he's knowingly letting Ryne be and stay hurt because he literally cannot bring himself to tell her his feelings, is the exact same mistake Urianger made with Moenbryda. Of course, the circumstances are vastly different, and the potential consequences to Thancred telling Ryne the wrong things or her misinterperating it is far greater (being a matter of literal life or death), it's still the same sort of paralysis they are trapped in.
And he knows it. He sees it. But he can't say or do anything about it, he doesn't have the right to. He acknowledges the mistake, but he hasn't really improved upon it yet. He still doesn't voice his thoughts and feelings as he should. He's also non-confrontational by nature, he doesn't argue or try to change peoples minds, he probably doesn't think he has any place to.
So, he tries to help in what little ways he can. Because he doesn't want it to become Monebryda again, he doesn't want to know he stole not one but two people from Thancred. So he does what he can. He tells Ryne little tidbits about Thancred, things that help her understand him but are safe to share. Nothing too deep, nothing too personal. Just small things, things that are purely factual, because he can't afford to give her a false image of who Thancred is. He teacher her fun and interesting things, because Thancred isn't in the mindset to provide her with non-essential skills.
I like to think Urianger has brought it up with Thancred at least once, during one of his stays. But nothing would've come of it. Not really. Unlike Y'shtola, Urianger isn't pushy, he'll bring it up once or twice and when he sees this won't go anywhere, he gives up. He wants to help, but he knows that persistance only does do much, and he is not the person who has the resiliance needed to push and push until Thancred finally budges (because he won't budge, it won't help anything but to sour things further by adding aditional stress to an already strained dynamic).
And like. Urianger gets it. He gets it because he's been the same way- not saying what he should to someone he loves more than anything else because she was meant to figure her life out herself, and 'steering' her in any direction by telling her his feelings (regardless of if the 'steering' is intention or not) will go against that. He gets it. He gets it and it's all the more painful for it. He knows it can't just be fixed by acknowledging it or with encouragement, something needs to happen to break the stasis.
I think this is probably why he stayed behind while they went off to Nabaath Areng. This is the very last chance they have to say what they want to, and he can't afford to be the anchor anymore. This is about them, not him, he can't let their resolution be buffed by his presence, so he stays behind. Which was probably for the best. Ryne got nervous when Urianger said he's staying behind, probably not too excited about being alone with Thancred (well, not alone, but WoL doesn't count) so soon after she had ran away crying. But she needs to be nervous. For anything positive to come out of this Thancred and Ryne both can't afford to be too relaxed. As sad as it is, the stress is necessary for anything to happen. He knows it. Does he like it? Absolutely not, but nor does he like his other plots. At least no one dies this time if it goes right.
#urianger had an integral part in the thancred-ryne situation and i think its very important to remember that#like i think he served as a very important buffer that prevented the dynamic from becoming even more strained than it already was#but also like. ryne NEEDED to have at least someone she can be comfortable around without the stress of her circumstances souring it#urianger is uniquely suited to play that role. even with his guilt regarding minfilia he never showed anything but genuine kindness for her#it helps that she didnt know about his hand in the situation existing to begin with (as shes surprised when he tells her in ahm areang)#THATS ALSO IMPORTANT BTW. like this man had a DIRECT hand in making this happen (even if it isnt fully his fault. minfilia made her choice)#AND LIKE. the parallels between uri-moen and thancred-ryne. they both love these girls so so much but cant bring themselves to say anything#urianger has been through the pain before. he knows. but he hasnt improved much himself. what right does he have to scold thancred?#silent support is all he can give. pushing thancred would make him a hypocrite and risk making it worse. hes not suited for confrontation#y'shtola and uriangers approaches to helping both have their merits but it needs a balance#too much pushing and the dynamic just gets worse but too forgiving and nothing will ever change#and yes i know im just repeating myself but ITS IMPORTANT OK#GOD#urianger augurelt#thancred waters#ryne waters#final fantasy#final fantasy 14#final fantasy xiv#ff14#ffxiv#xander rambles#xander being insane about ryne#urianger actually this time but. its related to ryne so. it gets the tag

for @mcyt-aro-week - day 5 - flowers/wedding
"Etho," Bdubs says. "Should- should we get married?"
Etho blinks and sits up, moving his head out of Bdubs's lap. "What?"
"Well- hey, you didn't have to move," Bdubs pouts. "I mean, should we get married?"
"Why?" Etho says. He's not wearing his mask right now, and even with it on, he manages to expressive. He's obviously confused, which is weird, because Bdubs sort of thought...
"Well, you know," Bdubs laughs a little awkwardly as he rubs the back of his head. "It's- I mean, we're- I don't know! It just seems like something we could do."
It's hard to explain. He loves Etho. It's a deep, deep love, too, because Bdubs loves often and easily, and that's fine, he loves loving people, but Etho- Etho and him have been entangled with each other for so long that it's different. Bdubs knows Etho, and Etho knows Bdubs. Bdubs would do anything for a lot of people. He loves it. He loves them. But Etho...
Well. He's special. And maybe that kind of connection requires some kind of... marking. Celebration.
"I just kind of thought," Etho says. "That- um- marriage was for people in love."
"Bwuh- huh?" Bdubs says. "But- isn't that us?"
"What?" says Etho. "Um, no, I didn't think so..."
"Well, I do love you, you know," Bdubs says. "I wouldn't have asked if I didn't."
Etho looks away, and a horrible dread rises up from Bdubs's stomach.
"But... um, you love me, right?" Bdubs says, voice wavering.
"Well, yeah!" Etho says. "Just- I mean, not in the get-married way."
"Oh," says Bdubs. "Oh! Well, that's fine. Okay!"
"Okay?" Etho chuckles, shoulders relaxing slightly with relief.
"Yeah, I was scared you were going to be like- oh, you've been hanging out with me for all this time, and you hated me for all of it, and were just too shy to say so. Wow!" Bdubs laughs. "So who would you want to get married to?"
"Um," says Etho. "I don't really know. No one, maybe."
"Oh!" Bdubs says. "So you- so if you're not saving your marriage for anyone, can we still do it?"
"Huh?" says Etho. "Oh, yeah, sure."
"Hey! You were so worked up about it earlier, and now you're just giving in!?" Bdubs says. "What's with that?"
"Huh? Well, if you're fine marrying someone who doesn't return your feelings, I'm fine with it," Etho says. "I like the idea of wedding presents."
"No, but-" Bdubs breaks off and grabs his face in his hands, frustrated. "It's not the hearts and kissing and stuff, because like, I wanna do that to you, but I don't care if you want to do it to me. It's just- you know me, yeah? And I know you. And that's the thing that I care about. That's the reciprocation."
"Oh," says Etho. He smiles. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, I love you. Like that."
"So we can get married?" Bdubs says hopefully.
"Of course," Etho says. "Make sure you require people to bring gifts on the invitation, though."
"You got it," Bdubs promises him.
- - -
Neither of them wear white. Etho, who has about 20 copies of the same outfit and wears nothing else, wears the same outfit he always wears. Bdubs isn't really surprised.
Bdubs borrows one of Cleo's dresses and looks absolutely fabulous in it, even if he does keep tripping over the hem. They pinned it up for him, but it's still far too long- NOT because he's short. Because Cleo's a giant.
It's totally worth it though.
Scar officiates, which means that there's a 75% chance they aren't actually legally married, but Bdubs isn't too bothered about it. This is more for sentiment than anything else. Actually, it's probably a good thing if his finances aren't tied to Etho's, since he commits tax fraud. Etho doesn't take off his mask when they kiss, which kind of sucks, but is also par for the course. Joel monologues loudly to anyone who will listen about the deep bond he and Etho share.
"Congrats," Grian says, grinning like a shark as he downs what has to be his 12th glass of punch, seemingly unaffected by it. "You've got a nice hustle going on here."
"You-! You and Scar and Mumbo did the same thing last season!" Bdubs protests.
"Yeah, but we ended up meaning it," Grian says dismissively. "This? Well, I mean, maybe you mean something by it. Etho doesn't."
Bdubs chokes on his own cup of punch.
Back in the games-
Well. Bdubs tries to keep his lives separate, but it's hard when some of his closest allies don't even bother pretending like it never happened. Etho and Cleo are always rubbing it in his face, the jerks!
The point being- he doesn't like thinking about it, but back in the games, when Bdubs had been red for the umpteenth time and not quite desperate, he had thought-
"He loves me."
And everyone had laughed.
Because the thing was- it had been a little bit of a lie. Playing up the role. Leaning into the blind faith that had carried him that far. But the faith had been there, and it had gotten him that far, so-
Etho doesn't love easily, and when he does, it's a choice, fragile and thin-spun from familiarity and the thrill of trying to stay. It's a little different from the love Bdubs feels- even the platonic kind.
And. The thing had been. That Etho hadn't chosen to love him then. Or he had, but it hadn't been enough, or maybe it was never love at all and it was just- the knowledge that Bdubs was Bdubs and Etho was Etho and that they'd always find each other.
Etho plays into the roles he's given, just like Bdubs. He's a little more subtle about it, sure, but Joel decides that they're soulmates and Etho plays along. Gem decides that he's washed up and he plays along. Cleo decides that they're divorced and he plays along.
Bdubs says, he loves me, and Etho lets him die.
That's how he knows there's something more than Etho just playing along there.
"Well, you think what you want," Bdubs says dismissively, and wanders off. It doesn't matter if Grian knows that he and Etho have stumbled into something a little different than love.
"Bdubs!" Etho shouts, waving him over to the gift table. "Look what Skizz got us!"
"A crockpot?" Bdubs squints.
"An essential for any newly-wed couple," Skizz says sagely.
"Well, if you say so," Bdubs says, and sits down next to Etho to help him unwrap presents.
#mcyt aro week#“why didnt bdubs know etho was aro if they were so close” do you think these guys TALK to each other?#no. they just orbit around each other like insane people and communicate through actions and references to past events ONLY.#insane behavior. anyways aromantic ethoslab for lifeeeeeee#ethoslab#bdubs#hermitfic#ethubs#hermitshipping#kind of lol#seeeee the thing is. bdubs can watch etho for years and notice all the ways he loves#but not know that it doesnt encompass romantic love. because once again they are insane.#idk. i love to think about wtho and bdubs and roles and the way they play into peoples expectations#its so good. last life changed something fundamental in me.

Sometimes I think I’ve got a good idea of sans character then I remember deep down I consider him kinder then papyrus and I have to come to terms with the fact that I have also fandom-fied him and it hurts, anyway congratulations on staying true to his character your the strongest soldier out there
lol don't beat yourself up. i wouldn't use "kind" as a qualifier, but i do think papyrus can come across as much blunter than sans. he's loud and banging and over the top in a way that exaggerates his other attributes, and one of those is his social awkwardness. he's shameless! both when he's being positive and uplifting AND when he's being a bitch. sans is more... contained. less vocal. but that's something that applies to his character in general.
more than anything i think—as jaded and more pessimistic as sans has become with time and his reset knowledge—both him and papyrus start from the same core personality. papyrus' kindness is obviously important to his character, but people tend to play it up too much in my opinion. he's just as capable of disregarding people's suffering and unhappiness for his own interests (empress undyne ending, king mtt ending, remaining our friend in spite of our actions) as his brother. he's just... very loud about his positivity and caring for other people and DOES want what's best for everyone... when it's not particularly inconvenient to him. lol.
#but yeah overall like you said papyurs being kinder than sans is the more quote unquote correct reading#at least the more functional one. he has a very important role as the one character whose death will NEVER be justified in the story#his positivity his harmlessness and yes his kindness all play a part in that#answered asks#undertale#papyrus#sans#metanalysis

Don't make fun of any accents, ever, for any reason.
The person on the receiving end will most likely fall in at least one of three categories:
Second language
Regional accent
Speech impediment
1. Second language
This person is probably speaking in this language to you because either you don't speak their mother tongue or you speak it worse than they speak the language you are speaking. They are making an effort for you. An accent doesn't make you dumb.
Making fun of someone for attempting to communicate in another language is the height of assholery.
2. Regional accent
Half the time you make fun of regional accents, you make fun of historically disenfranchised accents.
Southern accents? Congrats you're making fun of the way rural, usually poor, people speak. Their speech was highly influenced by black people.
Don't even get me started on making fun of AAE.
Again, an accent doesn't make you any less intelligent.
3. Speech impediment
They know they have a speech impediment. They are probably trying very hard not to sound like that. It is literally not their fault. They have had to deal with people making fun of it their whole life.
A speech impediment doesn't make you less intelligent either.
#submission#manners#good manners#etiquette#politeness#courtesy#nationalism and xenophobia plays a pretty big role in the first one too#In the country I live in a lot of the nationalism and xenophobia specifically centers around language#For foreigners it's a lose / lose situation#If they speak the local language then locals will be rude to them for having an accent#But if they don't use the local language (since most locals born here are actually pretty multi-lingual) they get yelled at#and generally treated like garbage#@ nationalistic people in the country I live in: please choose#Either be patient and kind to people with an accent#or be willing to use English or Spanish or other languages#you can't just yell at foreigners who speak to you at all either with an accent or in a different language#and get mad that they just don't appear here with perfect native speaking abilities

I continue to be in the foulest of moods so here are some Zeus + Apollo headcanons because they make me happy :)
(Important note: this is largely specific to my original work and is not me making inferences from mythical or historical texts)
Zeus and Apollo spar. Like a lot. Like a lot. A big reason why Apollo gets so good at boxing is because he usually sparred with his father as a young god and getting hit with one of Zeus' punches is!! Not advisable. He focused on becoming fleet-footed to combat Zeus' more solid fighting style which was definitely helped by his dancing. Conversely, Hermes would later develop wrestling partially as a response to Apollo's annoying fleet-footedness in combat.
Zeus decides to tie his mind to Apollo's when the strain of Apollo's visions become too intense for him to handle alone. When Apollo first returns from his exile after slaying Python, his visions are so severe that he suffered from 'time-blindness' where he could only percieve the future and was completely unable to see the present. Zeus shoulders some of that strain until Apollo becomes strong enough to handle prophecy on his own - though Zeus is careful not to give Apollo absolute prophecy lest he get overwhelmed again.
Despite their closeness, or maybe because of it, Zeus and Apollo argue quite a lot. Usually it's banal things like administrative work or squabbling over which of them should get the larger portion of a hecatomb, but they do argue about how prophecies should be carried out quite frequently too. There's a general agreement for Zeus not to bring up Apollo's children after how messy Aristaeus' anointing was (and how angry Apollo was at Zeus' disagreement with his decision to make his firstborn son a god) but the odd occasion where it cannot be avoided is usually when they have their most grave spats.
One of Zeus' greatest regrets is his relationship with Ares, partially because Ares grows up seeing him dote and teach Apollo with his full attention. There is... a lot of himself that he sees in Ares. A lot of Kronos too and the part of Zeus that is a warrior before he is a king has done his best to keep the boy at arms length entirely because of that familiarity with the face staring back at him. It's another of the things he and Apollo have argued ceaselessly about. Naturally, Apollo has attempted to bridge that gap many times and while Ares is still quite close with Artemis, when it comes to Apollo, he is particularly sensitive.
Zeus is the one that ultimately decided that Apollo should never marry. Due to Apollo's love-curse and his already concerning tendency to be overly attached and committed to his mortal affairs and offspring, Zeus decided that marriage would be doom to Apollo's spirit and proclaimed him unfit for the ceremony and its status. Instead of the expected argument, everyone was quite surprised when Apollo merely bowed his head and accepted such an outrageous decision.
#ginger rambles#apollo#zeus#pursuing daybreak posting#Apollo and Ares have a really fun dynamic tbh#Apollo is partially his therapist/partially his rival/partially the guy that cuts his hair so Ares sees a lot of his whether he wants to#or not#Ares thought Apollo was pitying him for a very long time and that stopped them from being better friends for a while#wrt Zeus Apollo is just kind of a confidant as much as he's a son#The three of them - Zeus Athena and Apollo - are a very tight-knit group who share many many things together#but Zeus' relationship with Athena is VERY different from the one he has with Apollo and that influences what kind of role Zeus plays#in Apollo's life in a very profound way.#Athena and Apollo - like Zeus and Apollo - argue all the time and over seemingly everything#It's much rarer when the two of them truly disagree though and all the better for it because Apollo's anger is deathly cold and Athena's#is blazing hot#Which is to say it's always very very awkward when they're fighting because Apollo will be coldly professional while Athena will be#actively trying to hurt him LMAO#Very “good morning” “I don't give pleasantries to cowards” core#this was very relaxing to do mmhm#writing#headcanons

the inevitability of obsessing over character actors is that they will all at some point play priests and force you to examine why that's the hottest. and it's totally not my religious trauma-
#i'm watching a hellbounders with clancy brown as a priest and this just occurred to me#that nearly all of my crushes have played priests of some kind at some point#and they are definitely their best roles or at least the ones i find the hottest#clancy brown#brad dourif#jeffrey combs#i'm pretty sure#kevin mcdonald#dave foley#hell even#david cronenberg#showed up as one#old men

Okay, I'm putting on my tinfoil hat and my clown makeup. I'm officially jumping on the insane bandwagon: "Alice", Daniel's wife or girlfriend or something is Armand. She was Armand all along. That's gonna be the twist.
As much as I want old!Daniel devil's minion (and oh how I want it) I feel that it's already happened. I mean they are laying the clues pretty heavily.
"You felt free holding her hand in Paris, I wonder why that was"... And taking into account Louis' comment about his sexuality liberation in 1940's Paris in the last episode, I mean it's foreshadowing for sure. And then, the other thing we know is that Daniel proposed and she said no, immediately Armand says: "She wanted to say yes, but she didn't trust you".
I mean It's all a little too convenient. Also how funny would it be for the twist to be some character being Armand all along... Twice
#lets make it a tradition#every season we find out someone else is secretly armand#i wonder who gets to be armand on season 3??#maybe Akasha was Armand all along#you get to be armand#and you get to be armand#EVERYONE gets to be armand#interview with the vampire but every role is secretly played by armand#okay. im done#i really hope this is true because it'd actually be devastating. but also kind of funny#interview with the vampire#iwtv#amc iwtv#the devils minion#armand#the vampire armand#daniel molloy

oh pallas and agnes power dynamic you really are SO unbelievably fucked,,,,,
#haven’t been able to write in days so i am posting instead. forgive me.#it’s just so. like. okay pallas has all of the material power here that’s not a question they’ve got much stronger magic they#know how the library works they’re directly placed in a mentorship role at the beginning re agnes she depends on them#for everything.#but also#pallas is very much Not Doing Well mentally (<- understatement of the century) and is pathologically incapable of processing their own#emotions related to this AT ALL. and in the process of trying very very hard to get to Know pallas (so pallas will Like her so pallas will#want to keep her alive) agnes kind of comes to understand a lot of pallas’s issues even better than pallas does and pallas starts to depend#on her for emotional support in a way they NEVER have with anyone else.#and pallas’s ability to show vulnerability has been soooo wrecked beyond belief that to them doing things like sharing part#of their backstory and being visibily hurt around someone is tantamount to placing a knife in someone’s hand and#then circling all of their weak points with a giant red marker while going ‘HEY STAB HERE’#so in their mind by doing this they’re giving agnes an IMMENSE amount of power over them like enough to kill them dead even though very#little else has changed about their dynamic. so pallas believes that they’re standing on much more equal ground then they really are#and agnes partly believes it too she thinks that by seeing this much of how broken down pallas is she’s finally found the balance in their#relationship she’s finally found a way to make it stable. and yeah. to some extent this is true!#pallas DOES listen to agnes more than any other person agnes IS the first person in years to understand them this much pallas’s dependence#on her for their mental wellbeing DOES give her some measure of power over them. but that power is given out on pallas’s terms is the thing#whether they’re aware of that or not. agnes wouldn’t have anything if pallas didn’t actively choose to be vulnerable with her there’d be#no way she’d learn about anything no way she’d get to play this role in their life#they believe that this thing is much more equal much more sustainable than it really is (pallas especially) and they’re#literally all each other have#grabs your face are you listening THEYRE ALL EACH OTHER HAVE IN THIS PLACE THEYRE BOTH IN SUCH HORRIFIC SITUATIONS AND THEY R EATING#EACHOTGER TO SURVIVE!!!!#head in fucking hands#wip: ghost story#pallas and agnes

#p4g#persona 4 golden#p4#persona 4#hanamura yosuke#yosuke hanamura#ok ok this scene gets to me so bad actually#because yes on the one hand hes playing up that big brother role again#reminding kanji of HIS role as nanako's big brother as well#but its also reminiscent of yosuke's tendency to hide his own sadness and put up a front for others so they wouldnt catch on#i think in this moment its not necessarily a bad thing and yosuke was kind of right (imo anyway)#keeping their spirits high would be a more comforting sight for nanako#who wouldnt want to see them worried#i think its such a strong reflection of yosuke's consideration towards others#part of me is like yes kanji is the one that said it but hes just voicing what everyone else was also thinking in that moment#and yosukes response isnt just for kanji but also for the team and esp Yu#because of them all Yu is the one that undoubtedly looked most heartbroken considering how protectice he was of nanako#even though we cant really see it in game it's very clear how his reaction is like in p4u when he thought nanako might be in danger#anyway yu didnt have a speaking line in this scene so i could be delulu but im pretty sure it was about him as well#he's good with his queue

a small moment of kindness that touched me today. speaking about our struggles as grad students in class with classmates. our small group is all BIPOC; another latine and two arabs, one who is palestinian. we are speaking very honestly about our fears and frustrations. feeling useless. feeling scared. upset at the world and its horrors. angry at other peoples' silence. but at the same time so so full of joy and hope. i talked about being scared of being forgotten, and we continued on with our group task of creating a liberation health triangle.
professor transitioned us back to the full class and while our professor began speaking again, my Palestinian classmate--so beautiful and with the most wonderful curls--leaned close to me and whispered "I'll never forgot you." I almost didn't hear her so i whispered back, "what?", and as sweetly as the first time she said, "I'll never forget you. And I'll never forget what you said last semester. You were the first person in this entire program who spoke of your frustrations. I felt less alone."
the walk home from class was very cold, but i could not help but let myself repeat the moment in my head over and over again.
#muerto talks#the way we are all forced to carry on because of the horrors of this world#and we can still choose to be kind to each other#what i took as a frustrating and vulnerable moment in my 10 am class last semester#was a moment where she could find some solidarity in someone else's words#and my small comment about being scared of being forgotten....#i just#man let me appreciate the small moments of joy and love please#we are so exposed to cruelty and i have been seeing war and murder and violence nonstop#i spent the rest of class giggling and joking with them as we did our class role plays#it had been a long time since i had laughed that freely#i need to remind myself of this joy#it is so so important to#getting emotional writing this but it was beautiful

Kind of wild to think about how House of the Dragon could have turned out so differently if the casting director had made different choices. Because from interviews with the cast, we know Olivia auditioned for the role of Rhaenyra, Sonoya auditioned for Alicent and Phia auditioned for young Rhaenyra. Just interesting to think about really <3
#in conclusion i am very glad that we got the actors we did for all the roles they ended up playing; they're perfect like this <3#hotd#house of the dragon#olivia cooke#sonoya mizuno#phia saban#hotd cast#(kind of fun to imagine this alternate reality though where somehow sonoya and olivia would play rhaenicent;#i would miss d'cooke too much though)
