While out today I managed to spot these two gorgeous native Western Australian Birds. Lucky I had my camera with me.

Western Rosellas, found in southwest Australia, are the smallest species of rosella. Their diet is largely based on grass and flower seeds, but can also include fruit and insect larvae. These birds nest in hollow tree trunks, favoring those with wood dust settled at the bottom. The female sits on her eggs for most of the day, but leaves them during the morning and afternoon to eat the food her mate brings her. Western Rosellas are the only rosella species with yellow cheeks. They have been considered a crop pest in orchards, but are now legally protected.
