Extras came in from the library, and setting aside that we should start calling influencers ego-kickers, given that the Committee for Morphological Standards is an international body, has banned black hair, and seems to prefer "olive" skin and straight textured hair, I'm wondering if the nose Aya was born with is really that big or if she just hasn't had it surgically altered to look whiter.
#i mean maybe the committee would have local standards even if tally seems to think it's consistent internationally#but there are already trends of plastic surgery to make you look whiter so I feel like it would get worse#uglies#@ scott westerfeld: you sure had thoughts on how bad social media was gonna get

someone on here will literally say "encouraging plastic surgery for the sole purpose of conforming to eurocentric beauty standards isn't actually feminism" and 200 other people will come out of the woodworks and chant in harmony LET WOMEN BE HAPPY and WHAT ABOUT TRANS PEOPLE AND BURN VICTIMS as if the post wasn't clearly 1. about womens' self image & insecurities being strongly influenced by the richest and whitest of society and 2. not about trans people or burn victims at all
#ive thought about it a lot and i know the main argument is that it's bodily autonomy and also having it more widely available makes it#easier for the people who really do need it to get it#but like. first of all the industry (and it is an industry) spends SO much money convincing women their bodies look wrong#if it wasnt advertised everywhere and if the expectation wasnt there to look 'perfect' according to the most recent trends#the amount of women getting elective plastic surgery would be drastically lower#second of all. yeah having more surgeons out there means more experience and safer treatments for those who really need it..#as long as they have the money#and for trans people as long as they have money and/or good insurance and/or all the required medical documentation and/or therapy#and at the end of the day you can criticize just part of something but not all of it. i feel like a lot of people forget that when they#start saying shit online. just stop and think and dont interact with people assuming the worst of them!!#when i criticize the beauty industry im never calling any woman who's ever worn makeup or gotten a facelift evil it's an INDUSTRY#it's systemic!!!#almost reminds me of how criticizing the patriarchy and systemic misogyny as a lesbian will get u painted as some man hating terf#i love men! i dont blame individual men for the system we're all a part of i just criticize its existence and try to work to dismantle it#and i know complaining on the internet is like a little raindrop in the ocean but still. it needs to be discussed i think

marble nymphs and medieval ladies with their gallant knights and Boticelli’s virgin staring at you gentle and half-moon eyed and Goja’s Maja with her rosy cheeks and Liberty guiding the people, hope and anger and action all in one symbol, and women of each of Renoir’s impressionist paintings playful and alive, and Suzanne and Judith and Esther and Bathsheba and all of the women of artemisia gentileschi. imagine having all those pieces of art depicting your face. The plumpness of the cheek painted with such painstakingly precision that now your face represents history. imagine carrying centuries of art in the roundness of the face and just decide to throw it all away just because the last fad says every single piece of softness has to be obliterated. fuck buccal fat removal.
#buccal fat removal#plastic surgery is already extremely dangerous and unnecessary as its#i hate this need trend particularly#because its so unnecessary#im tired of all celebrities having the same face#aesthetically i also think it looks very bad#give me roundness or death

also didnt mean to post two different heath ledger films, lmao, the queue decided to put brokeback on my blog today
but it works out!! i think heath leadger is part of what i'm talking about
he's obviously VERY beautiful but even his face is more... natural than what we have now, like, he was allowed imperfections. he isn't 20 different deliberate cosmetic surgeries merging into one person (i don't doubt he had any, like he probably did, but not like we see now)
he feels more authentic. beautiful in a way films demand but still like... just a guy
it adds to the vibe of his films
#i’m not even against plastic surgery#but every celeb ever getting the same procedures to have the same facss#bodies#mouths#and then changing them to be on trend#it’s WEIRD#and makes film feel less real

saw a post about the how we can't ban plastic surgery because sometimes its medically nessicary, which is completely true and right and i don't disagree, but i do have a problem with people acting like plastic surgery itself is the problem here instead of a society that treats bodies like fashion trends
like.. come on! this is the 'why don't humans have a character customization menu' website! You cannot start treating plastic surgery as the problem when the problem is a society that punishes everyone who doesn't fit the very very very small white cis *constantly changing* ideal of what makes you attractive.
like ok. the question shouldn't be 'should people be allowed to get nosejobs for purely cosmetic reasons' it should be 'would this person feel the need to get a nosejob without living in a society that tells them smaller, whiter noses are attractive and bigger noses are ugly' because for some people the answer would still be yes even if they were in a pro big nose society and those people should still be allowed to get plastic surgery. Some people just genuinely like having big boob implants and thats ok. bodily autonomy means people should have the option to choose if they want to alter their apperance without the pressure of the world telling them they Have To Look A Certain Way and that being attractive is the be all end all of exsistance. No one should feel like they need lip filler, but they people who want it should still be allowed to get it
in my perfect world, this would come with more trustworthy surgeons deveoping safer techniques for more out there surgeries like tongue splitting or that one that makes your ears pointy. Those purely cosmetic surgeries that aren't really done by trustworthy professionals (generally speaking) but that people still are getting done.
i don't know. The conversation is a lot more complicated than just 'ban all plastic surgery!!' but absolutely no one should be getting surgery because tiktok made them feel they had to you know what i mean?
#dear god please don't let this devolve into drama#doc rambles#been thinking about this a lot ever since those horrific tiktok plastic surgery trends started popping up

you can tell Suzanne did NOT tip off Lionsgate about Tigris being Snow's older cousin
like does that look like an octogenarian to you? even with anti-aging treatments?
also, "until Snow decided I wasn't pretty enough anymore"
ma'am you faded into obscurity so that he didn't kill you for knowing too much
#tigris SNOW#hunger games#ballad of songbirds and snakes#i mean yes maybe part of it was her overdoing the plastic surgery and losing relevance#if that's what katniss got from it and she grew up watching the games and would recognize that trend#but she was missing some key information there!#in the book tigris offers no explanation

hey so. yeah i am actually anti plastic surgery. yeah even just nose jobs. no like all of it. yeah. even just little things. yeah. yeah.
#plastic surgery ≠ reconstructive surgery#you’re beautiful#so why change things like this#to fit in with trends that change every 5-10 yrs#you don’t exist in a bubble#anti choice feminism#and no i’m not counting transitioning surgeries here because gender dysphoria and not liking your nose are different things

this plastic surgery trend of removing buccal fat really does need to stop. have we not learned anything about how drastic beauty standards can be real triggers for ed survivors
#apparently not. i just watched a video from a medical expert and i’m horrified. it’s wild how many celebs in their early 20s are going 4 it#just to follow the skinny trend and it makes me so sad. esp if you take into consideration it can be very harmful for people with ed issues#some of them have taken it to a point where you cannot really tell if they’ve taken it off or they’ve lost weight drastically which is so#concerning. like i’m not against plastic surgery bc everyone is free to do whatever with their own bodies but this??? what for really#literally what is the point when it’s harmful to your health and irreversible and aesthetically it’s not even great either like??#it makes them look older and it reinforces the idea that you Must look like that to be pretty. therefore skinnier or dead atp#it’s so harmful in all cases sorry idgi#pt#ed mention

The bitches getting buccal fat removal are the same bitches who made fun of my pointy, skinny face.
This has nothing to do with their own desires and everything to do with following a trend.

I keep wanting to make a post gently discouraging people from getting their buccal fat removed because I honestly think it’s the Worst idea but I can’t because I would want to make counter-arguments for the common reasons why people want to get it done and I simply can’t wrap my mind around any of those arguments enough to argue against them.
#like I’m very against anyone getting plastic surgery as part of a *trend* and that’s the only reason why I want to say something#but also like#idk I just generally can’t wrap my mind around the idea that having hollow cheeks makes you look hotter#i also severely disagree with the idea that it makes your cheekbones look higher I think that’s bs#like. Wang Yibo has chubby cheeks and he also very clearly has very high cheekbones#the amount of fat in your face isn’t going to change the appearance of your god dam skeleton

This gets so much funnier if you read it with the other definition of head
the next big thing in plastic surgery trends will be making your head 20% bigger they'll call it cartoonization and say looking like a bratz doll heals your inner child who wanted to play with bratz dolls

We promise you'll be beautiful!
She has such a nice body.
She is super cute.
She has a great style.
She has perfect proportions.
She is so cool.
She is taller than she looks.
She is so funny without even trying.
She can get away with everything,
With those long, skilly legs.
