A Love so Sweet, it Hurts 🥀 - Prologue
Scripps Memorial Hospital - San Diego, CA
Feburary 13th, 2011
Footsteps padded across the linoleum floors as people walked by, the elevator dinging as it made it to the ground floor, and espresso being grounded up as the barista started on the hazelnut latte with whipped cream. The custodian pushed their cart over to the spilled juice near the gift shop, where a little boy had dropped it only 9 minutes ago. Speaking of which, the cashier scrolled on her phone as a man awkwardly browsed the 'Congratulations it’s a Boy!' cards he would give to his best friend and wife, whose baby potentially could be his. And in the middle of it all, a journalist beelined towards the woman standing by the coffee counter, who was finishing a sudoku puzzle. Head held up high, heels clicking against the floor, and a uncontainable grin plastered on her lips. "Dr. Velasco?" she asked as she approached the attending in maroon scrubs, "It's Dr. Tala Velasco, right?"
"Who's asking?"
"My names Lyla McDowell, I'm a journalist with The Washington Post, but I'm here on more of a...personal matter," she explained with a slight chuckle to break the ice, "You see, I'm writing a book about Walter White and Saul Goodman and what happened in Albuquerque. You were Hector Salamanca and his mother's cardiologist at the time, and I just wanted to ask if you knew anything about the Salamanca's, or suspected them of anything?"
For a second she stopped, but continued on, not interested enough to even look at the journalist. Though, she did murmur something that Lyla did hear at first. "I'm sorry what was that?"
"I said: piss off."
Finally, Dr. Tala turned her attention to the woman. Her expression was apathetic, unreadable to anyone. Her tone was as well. She didn't sound angry or upset, just indifferent to the conversation. Lyla nodded, but tried to keep a friendly expression. To be frank, she's received worse responses over the years. "Dr. Velasco, I know it's been a while and might be hard for-..."
"No, not hard at all. But, apparently, it is for you. So, let me make myself very clear: I don't know anything about the Salamanca's and I don't care. And if, by chance, I happen upon your book at the airport or checkout line at the grocery store, and see my name anywhere in it, you're not gonna hear from my lawyers. You'll be hearing for me. So, you can take 'Walter White: From Mr. Rogers to Scarface,' or whatever cheesy title you already decided to call your book, and shove it up your ass. Now, you can either leave my hospital, or I'll stab my pen in your eye. Understood?"
Lyla stood there speechless, mouth agape as she listened to her calmly explain the situation. A chill rolled down the writer's spine as she starred deeply into the doctor's eyes. She seemed so detached, it was a littler unnerving. "I-I...Have a good day."
Without another word, she scurried away, tail tucked between her legs and she didn't dare look back. Tala just shook her head and sighed before turning back to her sudoku. "And you wonder why the interns here call you the general," the barista remarked as he frothed up the milk.
Tala chuckled, "And I thought it was the barista's just to keep their mouths shut and keep the coffee hot."
He put a hand over his chest, as if the comment actually wounded him. "Ouch, here I was gonna give you a discount," he teased.
"Danny, if I can't get a new Hoyer lift till April, there's no way in hell you're allowed to give discounts," she said, he just laughed.
Danny finished up her drink before handing it over, "So, is it true?"
"That I was Hector Salamanca's cardiologist? Yeah. And Dr. Mike Kukral was classmates with Jeffery Dahmer," she replied with a shrug, "Everyone has their alumni, mine just happen to be drug dealers. Thanks, Danny."
Tala took her sudoku puzzle and latte as she walked off to the closest bathroom. She set her things down and made sure no one was around before locking the door and letting a deep breath, sobbing as the tears began to roll down her face. Her guts twisted and her heart burned as she fell to her knees, not caring if anyone heard her at this point.
Salamanca.
It's been years since she every uttered that name, but it always been in her mind. One Salamanca in particular. No matter how far she went, no matter how hard she tried, Lalo would always be apart of her.

I'm so excited about the Jodice cons coming up this year, I felt the need to write a little FF based on them (kill me if it's more than 10 parts) leading up to June.
Synopsis: Actors Candice Accola and Joseph Morgan don't like each other at first but being forced to act together means they can't avoid the simmering attraction developing behind the scenes. Fast forward 8 years and they're due to appear in two fan conventions but given all the baggage and unresolved issues things aren't going to run as smoothly as organisers would hope.
Give Me Love
Part 1: Hello
“They say that time's supposed to heal you...But I ain't done much healing.”
June - 2019 - Los Angeles CA
What exactly do you say to the person who can see straight through you?
That was Candice's biggest challenge ahead of Bloody Night Con in seven days, not that she was counting. She hadn't seen Joseph in eighteen months and although he continued to plague her thoughts, at least she didn't have to actually converse with him. Talk about awkward if she did.
Hello and how are you didn't seem to cut it after all they'd been through together and apart the past eight years.
It was a cool, grey afternoon in Los Angeles, Candice was stretched out in the love seat by her window nursing a cup of herbal tea. In fact, it was French Earl Grey, something Joseph had introduced into her diet all those years ago. Something she couldn't quite let go of yet. If any ex-boyfriend had given or introduced her to anything it would find itself in the closest garbage bin straight after the break-up.
With him it was different.
The Chelsea FC jersey he gifted her still hung in the wardrobe (even though she supported Arsenal just to annoy him), his first edition copy of Great Expectations and the sketches he did while they holidayed in Saint Barts were housed in the den and the remnants of Acqua Di Gio hidden away in the bathroom cabinet.
Most people would put that down to forgetfulness. After all, you can't be expected to remember everything left over during a break-up. But Candice knew every single item and where they were, she just didn't want to part with them. Hence why Joseph Morgan was scattered all throughout her apartment to this day, not that she advertised the fact for obvious reasons.
She fingered the silver, antique locket around her neck. It was the last remaining piece of him and she liked to wear it close to her heart when she was alone. Not all the time but in moments of reflection. They were picnicking in Tuscany, their May birthdays only a few weeks apart, soaking up the wine, pasta and sunshine during a break in filming. He'd plucked the gift from what seemed like thin air, housed in a white box with a royal, blue ribbon. Her favourite colour.
The locket's exterior was flawless but the best was yet to come. She could still remember how he laid her against his chest as the sun set over the hills and told her the story of his grandparents who were split apart during the war and how they came back to each other again stronger and even more in love. The fact he'd placed their faded, black and white picture next to theirs in the locket was enough to cause a few tears and a thank you that lasted quite a few subsequent days in their hotel room.
He never asked for it back and Candice was glad he didn't. Maybe it was selfish but it just meant too much to return.
She picked up her phone, scrolling through her social media feed as she did so often. Candice knew that looking at her twitter feed was never a good idea. If she wanted a reminder of her relationship with Joseph it was plastered across her timeline on a daily basis. Granted the photos were either scenes they shared from the shows or creative fan edits but they all stirred the same feelings inside.
Candice didn't want to but she missed him. Still. She was happy his latest directorial foray into film had been such a success. If there was something Candice knew it was how good he was at directing people, she'd been one of his star performers in the bedroom after all.
Looking back, Candice would never forget the first time they met at the Craft Services table on set. It was season two of The Vampire Diaries and his character was cast as the big bad and from what Candice knew they wouldn't really have any scenes together but it didn't stop her from thinking he was all sorts of cute with that accent and those dimples.
February - 2011 - Atlanta, GA
"Did the new guy smirk at you?" Candice asked Kat earnestly.
They were in wardrobe after lunch break and she couldn't stop thinking about the way Joseph had been looking at her while they spoke. They'd just met so she thought it was strange, not to mention a little rude. Just because he had a gorgeous accent and lips the colour of deep crimson didn't give him the right to think he was God's greatest gift. Although Ian was an exact and nauseating replica of that, so why should she be surprised?
"I think he has a name, Candice." Kat mumbled from the corner where she was changing her top behind the makeshift screen.
"That's not the point."
"What do you mean smirk? He's always been perfectly polite and professional with me. What did he say anyway?"
"Wished me good afternoon and then I asked him how he's finding everything on set given he's just come onboard." They'd been shooting for the better part of the morning and the hungry hordes had made their way to the craft services table absolutely famished. Her eyes were firmly focused on the sushi, Candice was pretty certain she could have finished the entire plate on her own.
"Sounds pretty inoffensive, maybe that's just the way he smiles at people, did you ever think that?" Kat asked, finally emerging from changing her clothes for the next scene and looking at her curiously.
"You didn't see it, Kat," she sighed. "It was almost like..."
"He was trying not to laugh?"
"Excuse me?" Kat let out a giggle, moving closer and wiping her face with a tissue she'd swiped from the nearby table. "What are you doing?"
"You, uh, have some rice on your cheek," she smiled, knowingly.
"What?" She asked rubbing her face, slightly mortified.
"Seems like someone was trying to hide that fact and obviously it took the form of a smirk." Candice went from completely embarrassed to annoyed in seconds. How dare he do that?
"The least he could have done was say something rather than embarrass me like that in front of the cast and crew," she muttered.
"You just met the guy, he probably thought it wasn't polite to call you out about food on your face. It doesn't make for the easiest first conversation."
"Yet instead he was secretly laughing at me," she growled. "You know, I'm just happy that we don't have any scenes together because I'm not sure I could stand that smirk and those dimples from such a close proximity."
"Sounds like someone was paying an awful lot of attention to someone's dimples," she grinned. Candice didn't respond just busied herself for the next scene.
From then Candice made it her mission to steer clear of the new guy, until it became almost impossible to avoid him. That's what you got for being on a hit TV show and having to do publicity together. And there was no bigger publicity opportunity than the annual Comic Con in San Diego.
July - 2011 - San Diego, CA
This wasn't her first Comic Con, so it was going to be easy right? But apparently the powers above in the network decided to invite him along for the first time. Candice was generally very welcoming but she still wasn't quite sure what to think of their newest cast member.
Given he was pretty much the most evil character to hit the Vampire Diaries in its entire run so far, no one was expecting such a frenzied reception. Turns out a lot of the girls there seemed to have a thing for the bad guy. Candice really should have known.
She found herself looking across at Joseph at the signing table, his dark, blonde hair curled over his ears and that grey, fitted t-shirt highlighting his toned chest. He didn't scrub up too badly and it seemed like the screaming legions of female fans wholeheartedly agreed. Ever since their first meeting all those months ago they'd barely had any interaction, mainly because they didn't share any scenes.
After the craziness of 5000 screaming fans at the panel earlier in the day and a never ending number of interviews it was time for the after party, an opportunity to let loose and really enjoy themselves. Given they were all staying in the same hotel it seemed normal that they made their way together however for some reason it was just him and her crossing the street while surrounded by screaming photographers.
Candice was trying not to stare at just how adorable he looked in that suit while making sure her strapless, aqua dress was still in place as they walked brusquely to avoid the cameras. If there was one thing she knew about Joseph from their day at Comic Con it was just how overwhelmed he seemed to be around the press. For Candice it was actually refreshing given how arrogant some actors could be. Maybe she'd misjudged him?
One of the photographers got too close, knocking her slightly and Joseph reached forward without thinking. His hand grazed her lower back and Candice felt herself shiver slightly. "Are you okay, love?"
"Um, yeah, thanks," she mumbled, her gaze cast downwards. "It's uh just a little cold." She cursed inwardly thinking what a lame excuse it was. The one thing Candice knew without a doubt was that 90 degrees on a Summer night in San Diego wasn't in the least bit cold and she was sure he was aware of that fact.
"If I had a jacket I'd give it to you," he promised choosing to ignore her lie, steering her towards their destination. Maybe it wasn't the best look given the press would misconstrue anything but right now she didn't give a damn, it felt far too good having his hand on her back.
"Nice to see chivalry isn't completely dead," she smirked, and by his expression he couldn't miss the sarcastic tone in her voice.
"Is there something I'm missing?" Joseph murmured, trying to avoid the inquisitive stares of the reporters loitering close by. "You realise I'm a gentleman, right?"
"A gentleman who doesn't tell a girl she has rice stuck to her cheek?"
"I didn't want to be rude," he insisted, his cheeks colouring slightly with embarrassment. She'd never admit it aloud but it was pretty cute.
"Trust me, Morgan, a girl needs to know these things even if she barely knows you."
"Noted, Accola," he grinned.
"Um, we're here," she said, gesturing towards the hotel where the party was being held. "You can let go of me now." As soon as Candice said it she regretted it as he lifted his hand from her lower back. She gave him a thankful smile and breezed into the party like the professional actress she was. But she'd be lying if she couldn't still feel the residual heat on her back.
October - 2011 - Atlanta, GA
"Social media is going to go nuts," Candice murmured, laying herself out on the bed. "You know if it's anything like the response from you putting your hand on my back at Comic Con in July."
"I was only trying to protect you," he replied, flashing her one of his winning smiles.
They were currently at the Forbes house ready to film their second ever scene together. Candice would be lying if it wasn't a big moment for her. She'd always been able to hide her attraction for him because they didn't share any scenes, well until now that was. Now she had to be in close proximity and in a bed of all things. She wasn't quite sure what the writers were getting at given she'd been so hot and heavy with Michael's character Tyler lately.
"Funnily enough I didn't need protection and we both know that," she smirked. "I really should have known Klaus would order Tyler to bite me only to ride in on his horse and save the day."
"I think you've misjudged Klaus, he really can be a nice guy," he offered, winking in her direction. "Speaking of which, I better go wrangle my horse in anticipation."
Candice would be lying if she didn't think he was cute. She'd been so quick to write him off as one of your typical, egotistical actors she came across daily (not naming any names of course) but he had this adorable wit that she couldn't quite resist. Ever since he'd placed his hand on her back in July she'd been a little distracted by those lips and those damn dimples too.
Candice was an actor first and foremost and the scene played out exactly as planned but she couldn't deny just how good it felt to have his body pressed up against hers in bed as she pretended to drink from his wrist. His chest seemed so much more toned than she'd imagined and the smell of his spicy aftershave was definitely causing a few foreign feelings to take over. It was all done in one take, unheard of but Candice knew their underlying chemistry had definitely played its part in creating such a perfect scene.
"Don't worry I'm not counting," he smiled rising from the bed, as the crew moved away in preparedness for the next scene.
"I'm sorry?"
"You know the number of times I've saved you."
"Oh p-uh-lease," she groaned, rolling her eyes as she did. Candice was finding it more and more difficult not to act on her burgeoning feelings for him and she secretly hoped they got more time to spend with each other on set as an excuse.

10 Questions to Ask Before Building a Swimming Pool
The most important part of building a pool is the preparation phase, when you’ll decide the overall look of your swimming pool and hire a pool contractor. A landscape architect or luxury pool builder can walk you through the design process, but it helps to have a general idea of what you ultimately want. Before building a pool, ask yourself these 10 questions and follow tips from the pool builders who weighed in to share their expertise.
1. Why do I want a swimming pool?
As with all good design, form follows function — so the answer to this question will establish the foundation for your pool design. For example, a pool meant for fitness swimming can look remarkably different from one intended for backyard entertaining. You may simply want to enjoy the aesthetics or audible appeal of water in your garden — which will greatly influence the design. To fulfill hydrotherapy aspirations, a combination pool/spa may be in order.
Brian Van Bower, owner of Aquatic Consultants, Miami, FL., recently designed a pool for one high-profile client in Pennsylvania who requested a pool situated on the side of his yard where his kids could play. After visiting the client’s estate, Van Bower was able to show the homeowner that what he really wanted was a centrally-located, three-sided vanishing-edge pool to accentuate the spectacular hillside view. “Sometimes, people don’t know what they want until they see it,” Van Bower says.
2. Who will use the pool?
Keep in mind that a pool designed for child’s play may look quite different from one designed for romantic interludes. To accommodate swimmers of all ages and allow for multiple activities, you might want to include shallow areas for toddlers, extra grab rails for the elderly, tanning ledges for sun worshippers or even underwater speakers for music aficionados.
3. Is my yard suitable for pool construction?
Many builders recommend that soil tests be conducted to confirm the site is suitable for pool construction. Sandy, expansive or rocky soil and other ground factors present unique building concerns. In addition, a high water table can significantly increase construction costs.
Bill Drakeley, owner of Drakeley Swimming Pool Company, Bethlehem, CT, recalls one project where he uncovered a garbage dump during excavation. The trash had to be removed and the loose soil compacted, costing the homeowner an additional $30,000.
Sometimes a proposed site will not work because it is inaccessible by the heavy machinery needed to dig the hole for the pool. Ideally, the pathway should be at least 8 feet wide.
4. Where will the pool be located?
Before you can answer this question, you’ll need to know the zoning and building laws for your property. To control water runoff, there may be restrictions on how much of your yard can be covered with decking and in which direction it must slope. Many municipalities also require that pools be fenced in, which might affect where your pool can be located. Gas, electrical, telephone, cable and water lines may also influence the pool’s location, as there is often an additional expense to relocate these utilities.
Remember to consider how people will enter and exit the pool, where people will congregate and how to maximize sun exposure while minimizing wind exposure, which contributes to heat loss and evaporation.
Because homeowners typically spend more time looking at their pool than swimming in it, consider how the pool will be viewed from the rest of the yard and from within the home, says Kevin Braidic, vice president of Watershape Consulting, Inc., San Diego, CA. He recommends including landscape lighting and water features so that the pool can be enjoyed year-round. “We do a lot of design based on visibility from within the house,” Braidic says. “We strive for a work of art that is dynamic, that clients can enjoy everyday, whether they’re eating dinner, washing dishes or whatever.”
5. What shape and style will the pool be?
Luxury pool builders suggest choosing a shape and style that complements the architecture of the home and existing landscape.
One of Drakeley’s New England clients lived in a traditional colonial home but wanted a freeform kidney-shaped pool like the one his mother had in Florida. “I had to tell him, ‘You may like that because it’s a great memory, but it doesn’t fit with the house,’” Drakeley recalls. “Once you bring up the point that the architecture doesn’t fit, most clients are open to discussing other options.”
If you are set on a pool design that doesn’t match the home’s architecture, try to incorporate a transition area from the home to the pool, says Brian Van Bower. Through the use of walkways and plantings, as well as by changing materials, you can gently guide people from one aesthetic to another without causing a clash in styles. “Landscaping makes a great transition, especially where there are elevation changes,” he says.
6. What special features do I want in my pool?
To maximize enjoyment of your pool, even when you’re not swimming, you can incorporate water features and lighting. Based on how you plan to use your pool, you may also want to consider underwater benches, shallow beach-style entries, a swim-up bar and areas to play water volleyball or basketball. An automatic pool safety cover will also provide a convenient form of protection whenever the pool is unsupervised. If aquatic exercise interests you, consider installing underwater handrails and a variable-speed current system, which creates a flow of water that enables you to swim in place.
7. What other backyard amenities do I want?
When planning your ideal poolscape, list everything you’d like to include, even if your budget does not permit building it now. Some things to consider include a pool house, outdoor kitchen, firepit, outdoor shower, swim-up bar, gazebo and even children’s play equipment.
As Braidic points out, it’s much cheaper to accommodate future plans in your original design than to modify your poolscape later on. For example, if you know you’ll be adding a firepit or outdoor kitchen at a later date, it’s best to run the gas lines to those areas of the poolscape in the beginning, which eliminates the need to tear up the deck and surrounding landscape at a later date.
8. What materials do you want to use?
Although plaster had been the dominant pool surface for decades, aggregate and tile surfaces have become de rigueur. Elaborate tile mosaics and, more recently, glass tile provide the artistic flexibility many luxury pool owners seek.
You’ll want to look at the surrounding architecture and landscape for clues about what materials to use. Natural stone pavers and rock waterfalls can help a pool blend into a natural landscape, whereas glass tile and arcing jets of water might look lovely around a home in a contemporary, urban setting.
“Our design is a seasonal design,” Drakeley says, pointing out that the colors and textures of both the hardscape and softscape play an important role. “They have to have a symbiotic relationship.”
youtube
9. How can you ensure that your pool will be easy to maintain?
No pool is maintenance-free, but you can greatly reduce maintenance by making sure your pool is engineered to be energy-efficient, with sound hydraulics and substantial filtration. According to Van Bower, this means using variable-speed pumps, larger pipes, adequate skimmers and above-standard turnover rates. Automatic sanitizers, such as saltwater chlorinators, ensure that the proper amount of sanitizing chemicals are in the water at all times, making it hard for algae to grab hold of your pool.
10. Who will build the pool?
The best way to locate pool builders who are committed to quality construction and good design is to ask for referrals from friends and colleagues who own pools you like. Building inspectors and landscape architects are other sources of referrals. Thanks to referrals, Van Bower, who works on award-winning projects around the world, is able to forgo traditional advertising. If a potential client calls, it’s because he or she was given Van Bower’s name by a previous client. The same goes for Drakeley, who once built a vanishing-edge pool for a client and then signed pool contracts for six other couples in the client’s social group.
“The important thing is for clients to enjoy the relationship with their contractor,” adds Van Bower. “I’m a big believer in breaking bread and getting to know people. That’s when you can tell whether it’s right or not.”

Synopsis : [read ebook] The California House: Adobe. Craftsman. Victorian. Spanish Colonial Revival #*DOWNLOAD@PDF>
The aura and romance of Old California lives on in this treasury of inviting homes. The California House presents the magic of the 'golden state,' that land of infinite promise and dreams, the most tangible expression of which can be found in the homes built by early California dreamers. Here domestic visions of tranquility and repose were inventively realized—in stucco or stone, wood and wrought iron, plaster, and glass and tile. Spanish Colonial Revival–style homes with elaborate wrought-iron window grilles, romantic, shadowy interiors, and lush courtyard gardens stand beside other particularly Californian architectural wonders such as the San Francisco Victorian Painted Lady, the Monterey Colonial, Eurekan Queen Anne, and the homey California Arts & Crafts. Including houses designed by luminaries George Washington Smith, Stanford White, Greene & Greene, and Reginald Johnson, this book will fascinate both the architecture aficionado and interior design enthusiasts, as well as the everyday lover of homes. Including, but going beyond, the much-adored Spanish style (in its many manifestations) and Mission Revival, the book features as well the Victorian of San Francisco's Painted Lady and Eureka's Queen Anne, Monterey Colonial, California Arts & Crafts, French Chateau, classic Colonial farm house, and more. All new color photography of 25 houses in California ranging in style from Spanish Colonial Revival, Mission, Victorian, Queen Anne, California Arts & Crafts, Monterey, French Chateau, Colonial Farm House. The book includes little known California work by well known architect Stanford White, known primarily for his East Coast work (designer of the original Penn Station with McKim, Mead & White, and original Madison Square Garden, and many others); as well as the Magdelena Zanone House (Queen Anne late Victorian style home in Eureka, CA); the Murphy House, San Francisco (Classic French Chateau); a Gothic Victorian 1860s home in Sonoma; Casa Amesti (Monterey style home); 'El Cerrito' designed by Russel Ray and Winsor Soule and built in 1913 in Santa Barbara (an amalgam of Mission and Spanish Colonial Revival); the Frothingham House designed by George Washington Smith in 1922 (Spanish Colonial Rev.); Cuartro Ventos House by Reginald Johnson, 1929 in Santa Barbara; William Edwards House by Roland E. Coate, Sr. in San Marino, 1926; Robinson House by Greene and Greene in Pasadena, 1905; Sack House in Berkeley (California Arts & Crafts) Brune-Reutlinger House in San Francisco (classic Painted Lady Victorian); a colonial mid-19th cent farm house in Sonoma; 'Mariposa,' classic Spanish style in Montecito; The Marston House in San Diego (Arts & Crafts/Tudoresque); Rancho Los Alamos De Santa Elena in Los Alamos (Span. Col. Rev.); Pepper Hill Farm in Balard.

♛ Biography:
The Lockwood family; well known for the hotels all across the prestigious areas of California, a few Winter seasons ago they invested in a couple of cabins in Lake Tahoe. They also just signed a deal for a Lockwood Hotel to be built in New York and a couple of cabins in Canada, hoping to expand their horizons in more than just California. But all of this isn’t exactly what Ryan Lockwood wanted to live for, in fact he didn’t even want to bother taking over the family business someday his heart desired something more spiritual and meaningful than that; Ryan desired to be an artist.
Of course his family thought it was a silly idea and that he would be far more successful taking over the hotel business after they retire. Belinda and Mark Lockwood had always believed if they played their cards right the hotel business could last them through out generations in their family, Ryan always thought differently however, and he firmly believed that his passion was being an artist and he could make something out of it. For how long didn’t really matter, as long as he pursued his dreams that’s all he really cared about, never stopping and wondering or looking back at anything, that’s how he wanted to live his life.
When marked as Dominant his parents couldn’t have been more proud. Since he was the oldest from his sister and brother, he would obviously be passed down the family legacy. In hopes that his brother would be a Dominant as well, he would be shortly after Ryan. Though, things didn’t quite turn out the way Belinda and Mark had planned, in fact it left Ryan shunned from the family for awhile. Once Nicholas, his younger brother, was able to be designated a mark, it was by God’s blessing that he became a Dominant, leaving him to take over the family business when he became older.
This clearly gave Ryan a better opportunity to stand up and ask his parents if he could follow his dream. Of course they struck a deal with him; if Ryan were to complete all his Dominant studies and pass with flying colors then they will gladly pay for him to attend the art school in San Diego. And of course the deal had clearly seemed to good to be true, when Ryan had passed and his parents had changed their minds, knowing this would happen Ryan had already booked tickets for himself weeks in advanced, he was scheduled to leave the next day on the bus heading to San Diego, leaving him to never speak or see his family again.
Once arriving there a wide grin was plastered on the Dominant’s face, it was everything he could have dreamed of and more. The competition was in the air and it was fierce, for the first couple years everything had seemed perfect. But of course everyone knows perfection doesn’t exist, and if you ever felt like something was going right it clearly wouldn’t last forever. In college everyone experiments of course, it’s natural. When Ryan and his room mate who just so happened to be a male, were caught making out in their room by the Head Master of the school, he knew instantly that his dream had came to a crashing end. However, what Ryan didn’t expect was the Head Master to present them with a proposition, one that would change his life forever.
The Head Master wouldn’t tell their parents or kick them out, if they were to agree to engage in sexual activities with him on the low of course. But it didn’t end up being just Ryan and his room mate; there were orgies involved. Any time the Head Master wanted to, they would come together and perform sexual fantasies that he had all while he watched and got off to them. At times he would film but luckily every time Ryan was involved in a film he would wear a mask, so no one would really know it was him. Which was a good thing, because when word got out the Head Master was doing this he was convicted and ripped his Dominant status, most of the kids reported it to the police and what not but Ryan and a few others just wanted to lay low, try and forget this ever happened even though they knew it would be hard to.
Last thing Ryan wanted was his family to know about the incident, he ended up leaving the school without graduating or getting any type of scholarships, truth be told Ryan couldn’t really look at that place anymore and he just wanted to move on, and that’s exactly what he did. Moving to Canada was the best choice he ever made. Though, he’s living in some cheap apartment it’s still a roof over his head and he managed to find a job at a lingerie store named Hanky Panky. It pays for rent and keeps food in his belly, and though it did take him awhile he decided that art was still his passion as well as writing, so he decided to take a few art classes at the community college he’s going to as well as writing. Hoping that maybe one day he could be his own author and illustrator.

“If you’ll remember, this story by the author of “Sense and Sensibility” — and by the way, those last seven words are actually plastered on a billboard above Sean Fanning’s playful, very meta-theatrical set — centers mostly on the fraught bond between Elizabeth and Darcy.” -James Hebert, San Diego Union-Tribune

Critical Analysis R&E
Allen, A, 2015-6 Joseph Beuys(Focus Artist) Press: Guangxi Fine Arts Publishing House
The translation of Chapter 5 in the book is: Everyone is an artist.
The book describes the expansion of Beuys research and multiple fields-including mythology, zoology, botany, and Rudolf Steiner's theory of mental intelligence. Before becoming an artist and working in various fields, he was a soldier. In 1945, with a body with a spleen removed and a gold wounded medal, Joseph Beuys was arrested by the British army in Cuxhaven, ending his Soldier career, and the peers died on the spot. In the spring of 1947, Joseph Beuys entered the Dusseldorf Academy of Fine Arts. Boyce was assigned to the class of sculptor Anselin. Soon after, Joseph Beuys found that Anselin was Rodin's. For Beuys who had seen death after the war, it was an old world.
However, academic techniques and aesthetic systems are the cornerstones of modern art creation. So-called other academic students have not experienced war and death. Beuys also do not have enough understanding of academic art.
For example, Picasso is the founder of modern art and the main representative of Western modernist painting. Picasso is the most creative and far-reaching artist, and one of the greatest artistic geniuses of the 20th century. Picasso's works are divided into different periods, "blue period", "pink period", and "black people" "Period" and "cubism period", although the public's impression of Picasso stays on the abstract picture more, if you deeply understand the founder of modern art, you will know that the work of "classical sculpture plaster at 13 o'clock" Like sketching exercises. The work "Science and Kindness" at the age of 14 is already amazing. As Picasso said, "I can paint as good as Raphael when I am 12 years old." (Swisher, C, 1995)After reading Picasso's young works, it is not difficult to find that Picasso has a very deep painting skills, which is the academy that Beuys hates. send. Focus on light, perspective, and accurate modeling, with exquisite and delicate brushstrokes. When the academic research is thorough, it has the ability of aesthetics, thinking about space and light, and then has the key to better explore other fields. Just as babies cannot eat steak as soon as they are born, they need to develop and grow, and to avoid these basic qualities, they just want to gain strength and avoid shortcomings to gain attention.
Beuys first personal performance art event, "How to Explain Painting to a Dead Rabbit", in this work, his head is covered with honey and gold paint, and a steel sole is tied to the right foot, Felt soles are used for the left sole. Lasts 3 hours. During this period, Boyce always embraced a dead hare, constantly twitching his lips to make a complaint, as if explaining his paintings. It's obscure and difficult to understand, and I don't know how a person who hates academics should explain painting, skip the long development period such as the Renaissance. Just like relying on fertilized eggs, but talking about the origin of life. The painting described in this way is just a painting full of prejudice.
Beuys has always advocated a new art category that is different from the previous art forms and connotations. He once said: "My art is not limited to those collected in art galleries or any other place (collection)... my main activities It is always placed in organization and action." This shows that there are many problems in Beuys' paintings. Without a solid aesthetic foundation and painting level, it cannot stand out and be collected by the museum. Beuys emphasized a gesture of involvement in society, politics, and culture. There must be a revolutionary spirit that encourages everyone to participate in social and political actions, including environmental protection and organizing social activities. A large amount of his performance art uses art to participate in public affairs. Because he believes that the artistic way is the most authentic way of mankind. Beuys is an excellent activist, but does not have enough ability to say "everyone is an artist"
Beuys' explanation is: "His work is the intervention and thinking of art in daily life. Art is not just an artist's work. Everyone thinks independently with full of vitality, and has free creativity and imagination. They are all artists. Freedom equals creation and humanity. Life itself is a manifestation of creation. Creation is also the only sensible form of human existence. "This interpretation is too ridiculous, because it is well known that it is impossible for everyone to have independent thinking ability, and It must also be full of vitality. Freedom equals creation, and life itself is an expression of creation. According to a relative theory, everyone is an artist, then there is no artist in this world.
The reason why people praise Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo and other great artists is because they have made great contributions in special periods and achieved what others can't do.(Hartt, F. and Wilkins, D.), 2011 There are countless students studying academic painting in the long history, but no one has taken their place. This illustrates the importance of talent. In the Stone Age 20,000 years ago, humans began to use stones on walls, and animal blood to record hunting activities, as well as mammoths, bison, wolves, and other animals. (Gowing, L., 2002)According to Beuys' theory, the hunter who is only responsible for hunting is an artist like him, because he will not choose to pick up tools to depict the scene at that time and the animals he saw. But in the same way, he will carry the corpses of animals and look at the paintings of artists in his group.
The Western Renaissance experienced a dark medieval period, a stage that erupted after repression, broke through the rules of religion, and allowed people and gods to stand on the same level through art. Kant later had Schiller and Goethe, and romanticism and realism were born after the collision of philosophy and art. After understanding these history, they will cherish today's free art environment even more. However, it is precisely because of this environment that Beuys launched more activities.
Beuys said that everyone is an artist, in fact, just show their activities and actions, let people guess and speculate. At this time, people with artistic cultivation and cultural background will try their best to add and use each of his activities. Elements, looking for the corresponding metaphors and associations, which are not known and unknown by Beuys himself. Whether Beuys is an artist, he doesn't count.
Every day in the world, people look up at the stars, and only Van Gogh draws a spinning galaxy. Pencil charcoal is so easy to buy in today's industrial development, and it does not need an expensive price, but no one uses only three lines to draw the finger that is praised like Michelangelo.
Everyone is an artist, there will be no artist in the world.

Castiel saw a boxing ring set up with none other than Dean taking on Ed Zeddmore. He watched for the rest of the round while Dean beat down Zeddmore. Even from a distance, He could see the green t-shirt Dean was wearing sticking to his skin from the sweat. It outlined every muscle on Dean’s stomach, chest, and back, hanging on like a second skin. He saw the muscles in his chest and back tighten as Dean threw a punch and saw the muscles on his stomach clench as he ducked down to avoid a swing.
Dean’s green t-shirt made the green of his eyes pop, enough that Cas could see from a distance. Up close, his eyes reminded Cas of the forests in Washington and Oregon that his family visited when he was little. They were like when rain soaked the forest and highlighted the green in the moss, and the leaves were lush and vibrant and alive. Sometimes he got lost looking into Dean’s eyes, like he was trying a path out of the forest, but didn’t want to leave yet.
He could see the sweat dripping down Dean’s face and neck, not from exertion, but from the heat. A light blush covered Dean’s cheeks and forehead, enough to make the freckles on his face stand out. Cas noticed their outside activity gave Dean more freckles every day, and Cas knew he could spend hours tracing constellations on his face and body.
But that would never happen. Dean was a good, all-American boy with a girlfriend and a family.
Cas wasn't ashamed that he was attracted to boys, not anymore, but it wasn’t something he would wish upon anyone who had another choice. He didn’t know how Dean felt, and he didn’t want to find out. Cas promised himself he would stay celibate in the military, that he wouldn’t play games with the good boys who could go back home and live a normal life.
But he had been around Dean for three weeks, and his commitment was starting to waver. With every smile or laugh or joke Dean told, he felt his restraint slip a little more. The powerlessness he felt around Dean was intoxicating. Their week sharing a tent made it worse, and pulling away only made him want Dean more.
Dean smiled as he knocked Zeddmore out. He caught Dean’s eye across the crowd, and he waved Cas over. He hadn’t seen Dean look that happy since he got to San Diego. It was a good look.
He matched Ash’s level of enthusiasm when he cheered, and Dean stumbled between the ropes toward them. He had the biggest grin Cas had ever seen plastered on his lips. Dean wrapped an arm around Cas' neck and pulled him close in a side hug.
His hand rose to the middle of Dean’s back for balance, and he felt the heat and muscles under Dean's shirt. It was like touching a live wire, and he froze, searching Dean’s face for a reaction. The bastard acted like nothing happened. He pulled away while Ash asked who he was fighting next.
He reminded himself that Dean was normal. Dean had a girlfriend. He had a picture of Lisa on his bunk, right next to the one of his little brothers. He was a regular, all-American boy. Cas could not get stuck on him.
He missed the first part of Dean’s next fight. This time was Spangler. He looked up and caught Dean’s eyes, and that smug grin was back on Dean's face. His motions were more fluid, his punches more precise, and he looked back to Cas’ eyes after almost every move. It was like he was showing off.
He won against Spangler without breaking a sweat. Cas was too impressed. Too attracted.

Too many Jodice tumblr posts contributed to this spontaneous drabble. I hope you are all very proud of yourselves (you know who you are.) I'm no Jodice aficionado but have tried to do some basic research on events, episodes etc but have obviously taken liberties too.
PS no spouses exist for obvious reasons! Picking up from the most recent episode of the Originals. Also points of view will change in each section. All lyrics in italics from Lady Gaga.
You and I
"Something about this place, something, 'bout the lonely nights and lipstick on your face."
Present Day - London, England
The fact he'd just directed the most recent episode of The Originals and it was trending worldwide certainly gave him a renewed boost in confidence. Apart from acting, directing was his closest passion and seeing that fans liked his work filled him with a certain ambitious desire to repeat the experience.
As an actor he knew very well that a renewal was still pending and given his affection fo the show he hoped it got its rightful continuation. The finale which he'd already taped told him that much. There was too much unfinished business, in more ways than one. As Joseph scrolled through his twitter feed he found the usual mentions of a certain co-star that hadn't graced the screen with him in a while.
His mind flashed back to that particular scene, there was apparently a tree, some woods and about 200 crew present. Not that he'd noticed at all. He'd been far too consumed by the blonde beauty who he'd known so intimately both onscreen and off at that stage.
He would never forget the first time they met at the Craft Services table on set. Joseph always thought she was stunning on screen but seeing her there with rice unknowingly stuck to her cheek was causing him to smile uncontrollably (he was pretty certain he flashed a few dimples in the process). He'd never seen anything more beautiful in his life. He knew right then and there he was a goner.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
"It's been years since I let you go. I couldn't listen to a joke or Rock and Roll."
Candice knew that looking at her twitter feed was never a good idea. If she wanted a reminder of her relationship with Joseph it was plastered across her timeline. Granted the photos were either scenes they shared from the show or manips but they all stirred the same feelings inside. She missed him, she'd be lying if she said she didn't. She was happy his latest directorial foray had been such a success. If there was something Candice knew it was how good he was at directing people, she'd been one of his star performers in the bedroom after all.
The hardest part was trying to answer all those questions at the Vampire Attraction Event about a possible appearance in the Originals after TVD's recent ending. She'd been told by producers to encourage such a move, it made a fifth season all the more possible if the fans were invested. Like the dutiful CW employee she'd done it but the thought of being that close to Joseph again was causing all of the residual feelings she had for her former co-star to resurface and she wasn't quite sure how to handle a possible reunion.
February - 2011 - Atlanta, GA
"Did the new guy smirk at you?" Candice asked Kat earnestly. They were in wardrobe after lunch break and she couldn't stop thinking about the way Joseph had been looking at her while they spoke. They'd just met so she thought it was strange not to mention a little rude. Just because he had a gorgeous accent and lips the colour of deep crimson didn't give him the right to think he was God's greatest gift.
"Sounds pretty inoffensive, maybe that's just the way he smiles at people, did you ever think that?" Kat asked, finally emerging from changing her clothes for the next scene and looking at her curiously,
"You didn't see it, Kat," she sighed. "It was almost like..."
"He was trying not to laugh?"
"Excuse me?" Kat let out a giggle, moving closer and wiping her face with a tissue she'd swiped from the nearby table. "What are you doing?"
"You, uh have some rice on your cheek, Candice," she smiled, knowingly.
"What?" She asked and rubbing her face, slightly mortified.
"Seems like someone was trying to hide that fact and obviously it took the form of a smirk." Candice went from completely embarrassed to annoyed in seconds. How dare he do that?
"The least he could have done was tell me rather than embarrass me like that in front of the cast and crew," she muttered.
Candice didn't respond just busied herself with her clothing for the next scene.
From then Candice made it her mission to steer clear of the new guy, until it became almost impossible to avoid him. That's what you got for being on a hit TV show and having to do publicity together. And there was no bigger publicity opportunity than the annual Comic Con in San Diego.
July 2011 - San Diego, CA
It was his first Comic Con and for Joseph it was completely overwhelming. Given he was pretty much the most evil hybrid to hit the Vampire Diaries in its entire run so far, he wasn't expecting such a frenzied reception. Turns out a lot of the girls there seemed to have a thing for the bad guy. Not that he was complaining.
He looked across at Candice at the signing table, her golden waves cascading down her back and wrapped in a fitted blue dress, thinking just how much the colour brought out her expressive eyes and creamy skin. Ever since their first meeting all those months ago they'd barely had any interaction, mainly because they didn't share any scenes. Joseph had to admit he was a little disappointed by that fact. It seemed like she had this amazing chemistry with everyone who she interacted with on screen and he'd be lying if he wasn't jealous.
After the craziness of 5000 screaming fans at the panel earlier in the day it was time for the after party. Given they were all staying in the same hotel it seemed normal that they made their way together however for some reason it was just him and her crossing the street and surrounded by screaming photographers. Joseph was trying not to stare at just how her strapless, aqua dress showed off those creamy legs as she walked brusquely to avoid the cameras. If there was one thing he knew about Candice it was just how shy she could be around the press. For Joseph that was just another reason to admire her given so many actors were the complete opposite.
One of the photographers got too close, knocking her slightly and Joseph reached forward without thinking, his instinct to protect her taking over. His hand grazed her lower back and Joseph could swear he felt her shiver slightly. "Are you okay, love?"
"Um, yeah, thanks," she mumbled, her gaze cast downwards. "It's uh just a little cold." The one thing Joseph knew without a doubt was that 90 degrees on a Summer night in San Diego wasn't in the least bit cold.
"If I had a jacket I'd give it to you," he promised, steering her towards their destination. Maybe it wasn't the best look given the press would misconstrue anything but right now he didn't give a damn, it felt far too good having his hand on her back.
"Nice to see chivalry isn't completely dead," she smirked, he couldn't miss the sarcastic tone in her voice.
"Is there something I'm missing?" Joseph murmured, trying to avoid the inquisitive stares of the reporters loitering close by. "You realise I'm a complete gentleman, right?"
"A gentleman who doesn't tell a girl she has rice stuck to her cheek?"
"I didn't want to be rude," he insisted.
"Trust me Morgan, a girl needs to know these things even if she barely knows you."
"Noted, Accola," he grinned.
"Um, we're here," she said, gesturing towards the hotel where the party was being held. "You can let go of me now." Joseph immediately but albeit reluctantly lifted his hand from her lower back. She gave him a thankful smile and breezed into the party like the professional actress she was. He'd be lying if he couldn't still feel the residual heat on his palm from the close contact.
October 2011 - Atlanta, GA
"Social media is going to go nuts," Candice murmured, laying herself out on the bed. "You know if it's anything like the response from you putting your hand on my back at Comic Con in July."
"I was only trying to protect you," he replied, flashing her one of his winning smiles.
They were currently at the Forbes house ready to film their very first scene together.
March 2012 - Atlanta, GA
Joseph found himself missing home for the first time in a while. Although he'd been working in the States for close to a year now it didn't stop him wanting all of the familiarities from home. He'd spoken to his mother and thoughts of her amazing cooking had infiltrated his brain which he carried with him onto set.
This was the day he saved Caroline from Alaric's clutches at the high school and Joseph was excited about reminding her just how many times he'd saved her now. He could just imagine the cute, exasperated look she got when she was attempting to argue back. Social media had erupted as Candice had predicted after their first scene together and fans were delirious about their onscreen and offscreen characters giving into their feelings. Joseph would have laughed if it wasn't so true.
The scene at the school went off without a hitch which was becoming the norm between them. Even Julie Plec had pulled him aside a few episodes ago and mentioned just how explosive the chemistry between them was. He wasn't going to argue given his ever growing feelings for his beautiful, blonde co-star.
"What's wrong?" She asked, approaching him at the lunch table.
"Excuse me?"
"You haven't boasted about the fact you saved me yet again," she drawled. "I know you were thinking it, Morgan."
"I was," he admitted. "But I'll admit, I was kind of distracted by a bad dose of homesickness." Joseph couldn't believe he was admitting it to her of all people.
"Missing the Queen and Prince Harry?"
"I'll assume that Prince Harry reference was just for you, Accola," he joked. "While her Majesty certainly holds a dear place in my heart I was thinking of my family, if you must know."
"It must be difficult to be this far from home." She murmured. "I may come from Houston but at least the flight doesn't take that long."
"And without the jet lag," he joked. "I guess I just miss my family and the food."
"I was actually thinking of having a dinner party to celebrate the wrap of season three next week. I can't promise you England but hopefully a pretty good time at least?" Joseph couldn't have declined if he tried. He knew this was her way of trying to welcome him and it was something he'd been craving for a while.
What Joseph wasn't expecting was the array of English delicacies on her dining room table that night and as he helped himself greedily to the Beef Wellington, he couldn't help but send her a smile of gratitude. The fact she'd thought of him was only making him want her more.
"Don't ever let my mother taste this," he said pointing to the Yorkshire pudding on his plate.
"Why" She squeaked, self consciously.
"She might not like the competition," he shared. "I can't believe you did all of this."
"I know better than anyone else how difficult homesickness can be, Joseph." His heart almost stopped beating as she uttered his name for the first time since they'd met. "But I couldn't imagine having my family that far away so it was really the least I could do."
"Well, thank you, love," he smiled. The fans seemed to think that was a Klaus term but Joseph had been the one to suggest it to the writers. He was starting to realise he only wanted to use it on one person though, acting or in real life. "You have no idea what this means." He noticed her blush slightly as he said it. If Zach hadn't interrupted their conversation right then who knows what she might have replied?
September 2012 - Atlanta, GA
"Now, you both know what you're supposed to do this episode?"
"He's supposed to shamelessly chase me as usual?" Joseph sent her a sideways glance. Ever since her impromptu dinner in March, their relationship had elevated to an extremely flirty friendship. Not that he could recall when they'd ever really been friends. She delighted in teasing him but Joseph would be lying if he didn't delight in exactly the same thing.
"Last time I checked Caroline was the one who suggested a date?"
"Yeah to a movie where I can put at least three seats between us," she quipped.
"Glad to see you two know your lines," the director drawled. "How about we get this show on the road then?"
"Happy to buy you a drink later, you know tell you all about being the bad guy," he whispered in her ear. Candice was trying to ignore just how good it felt to have him tease her hair with his hot breath as he said it.
"Easy tiger," she joked using his own terminology, moving away to her starting point but it was difficult to ignore her shaking legs as she did.
After the director called cut for the day, Candice made her way towards the porch where the cast would relax between scenes. It was extremely peaceful overlooking the lake at the fictional Lockwood Mansion. The other actors were filming elsewhere and she found it quite relaxing sitting there and drinking in the Fall afternoon.
"A souvenir," he announced, placing it on the table and assuming his seat on the nearest rocking chair.
"You realise I could write a much better Miss Mystic Falls application? As much as I love Caroline, I don't think everything needs to rhyme."
"I don't doubt it," he murmured, his blue eyes closing in obvious exhaustion. "Although I'm pretty certain Candice would be just as equally enthusiastic about the task at hand, you know just saying."
"Hey," she growled, slapping him awake. "We can't all come from the birthplace of William Shakespeare."
"I wasn't judging, love."
"Yeah sure," she muttered. Suddenly she found some extra courage and kept speaking. "So, apparently you promised me a drink." He was immediately awake, leaning forward in his seat.
"Well, of course. It's the least I owe you after having to put up with me all day."
"Not sure your thousands of twitter followers would agree, they seem extremely excited about you sharing so many scenes with 'you know who'."
"I didn't realise you followed me on twitter, love?"
"Call it professional courtesy," she shot back, her blue eyes blazing.
"It's okay, I've been following you since the beginning for exactly the same reason,' he admitted. "Dana?" Her face broke into a gorgeous smile and Joseph was extremely excited to be able to have even one drink with this beauty.
One drink had led to more at the local whiskey bar in Covington. She was trying to ignore just how gorgeous his stubble looked as they talked across the bar and felt herself slowly losing all her inhibitions. She remembered him brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear and placing a chaste kiss on her cheek before escorting her to her accommodation. Who knew he had such impeccable manners? Candice would have been lying if she wasn't disappointed it didn't go any further given the chemistry they'd generated on set earlier that day.
January 2013 - Atlanta, GA
"There's been two massacres. Pastor Young's farm is here, and the old Lockwood cellar, where you spitefully slaughtered 12 of your own hybrids, is here. According to the book, the expression triangle is equilateral, putting it here."
"Somebody's been skipping their geometry classes. There are actually two places where the third massacre could be." He drew the extra lines on the map as she watched him curiously.
"Well, you didn't let me finish." They held each other's gaze because the scene called for it but Joseph knew it was the built up tension between the two co-stars who couldn't resist each other any longer. He could sense it in her eyes, her demeanour and the fact that her breathing had quickened slightly.
He couldn't wait until they called cut and he subtely called her to his trailer with his eyes. They'd missed each other over the holidays and he couldn't wait to embrace her after too much time apart. Joseph couldn't quite recall whose clothes came off first but before he knew it the beautiful blonde was straddling him naked and he was sucking on her nipples hungrily.
She was moaning now as he raked his hands through her waves maintaining his pressure on her nipple while finding his way to her quivering centre. This was the moment he'd been waiting for, so too Candice. He looked into her eyes asking permission, he didn't want to do anything unwanted but her blue eyes were begging him to continue and before Joseph knew it she was laying on the couch as he writhed above her uncontrollably. Their intermingling cries as she rode him until climax.
Joseph held her for a long time afterwards, he wasn't one to get attached but he couldn't let go of her soft skin if he tried. The feeling of her beating heart against his was enough for him to realise she was it. His hand found its way through her hair as he placed butterfly kisses on her jaw and onto her collarbone.
"I'm usually more of a gentleman, I promise," he mumbled against her bare skin.
"I'd usually reprimand you but for once I'm not entirely annoyed by your behaviour," she moaned, running her hands through his curls. "As long as this stays just between us."

The Botanical Building, San Diego, CA
The Botanical Building is a small garden located in Balboa Park, a popular tourist destination in sunny San Diego, California. The Building itself is made of lath or thin and flat strips of wood. Wood like this is typically used for setting a layout for walls or plaster, however in this case, it is used in a way similar to a greenhouse. Built in 1915, this building’s uniqueness makes it a popular historical mark to visit. In addition to the building, the lily pond in front of it makes this site the perfect spot for photography.
In addition to the eye catching exterior, the interior of the building is full of beauty. There are two entrances in which visitors may enter through, both of which are located in the front. The admission to this garden is free of charge. Despite the entrance you take, you are greeted by a planter that hosts a variety of colorful orchids. Majority, if not all, plants within this building are tropical. Throughout the short walk there are many breathtaking flowers that are bright striking colors. Along the path you’ll not only see a multitude of flora, but also fountains.
Although the garden was not that large, it did really impress me. First of all, the garden’s layout was very easy to move around. Because Balboa Park is such a busy site, there are often a lot of people, but when I was inside the building, I never felt cramped or uncomfortable. In addition, the grounds were very well kept. Every planter that I saw was well maintained and the pathways were clear of any dirt or decay. Another pleasant aspect of this garden was that the lath in which constructed the building provided a lot of shade which kept the interior rather cool. Also, I’m not the most familiar with the blooming season for tropical plants but there were many flowers within the planters that really added to the beauty of the experience.
Overall this garden is definitely something I would recommend to others. It was well organized, neatly kept and full of extravagance.

$29M ‘Mediterranean Masterpiece’ Is the Week’s Most Expensive New Listing
realtor.com
The California coastline boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. So it follows that the beaches of the Golden State are also home to some of the country’s priciest properties. A prime example is this week’s most expensive new listing on realtor.com®: a coastal retreat in Del Mar, CA, on the market for $29 million.
The current median list price in Del Mar is a whopping $2.6 million. And while this Del Mar dream estate is the priciest new listing to pop up this week, it isn’t even the most expensive listing in the tony town. It’s topped by a $35 million mansion that landed on the market in early February.
As for this brand-new “Mediterranean masterpiece,” it takes full advantage of its waterfront setting in the San Diego County beachside town. Walls of sliding glass and terraces make for a seamless, indoor-outdoor space that’s becoming standard for high-end homes in California.

Thoughtful details such as radiant floor heating in the kitchen, dining room, and outdoor patio ensure a chilly evening will never place a chill on an outdoor party there.
Builders also went all-in on architectural finishes, which include marble, onyx, Venetian plaster, walnut floors and cabinetry, and Douglas fir beams, according to the listing. Eric Iantorno is the listing broker.
