As I am setting up my blog, I got the sense of vanity when I am editing the appearance of my blog. I was kind of disappointed that the last time I was on here, which was 2013 (err, maybe), people sell codes for customized themes, opening soundtrack in your profile and, all the sub links to your other social media accounts. I dubbed it as the last remains of friendster or myspace era. Now, I only get to choose three things; avatar/profile picture, blog name and, banner photo. And everything remains the same! That's it! Unlike before, you learn how to code just to have fancy backgrounds. You go for hours and hours of searching just to find that free theme from the favourite blog you follow. Now, we are here, the times of informational overload within, user based algorithm and ai generated photos to actual work. I thought that I can't go wild with any background anymore hence, the core of our aesthetic is the avatar. My avatar. I call they/them, Beatitude. When I was learning how to draw or even an inch close to an art, I worked hard in understanding the basics of utilization of my imagination. I would look up hundreds and hundreds of an image separated from the entire landscape of my imagination for reference. Then I would put all the pictures together to create one of a whole art, obra or painting. I wanted to do the same for my avatar but, then I got lazy and I remembered that there are AI Generator apps that can create paintings or art from your simple and few sentences of command. I typed in "an avatar mixed of bee, rat and two fishes" and, not even a minute after popped these pictures. I feel cheating. I feel cheated. I am in awe of what human civilization can achieve in a short span of time. We are not even lightyears away from known origin but we are already trying to replace ourselves. Maybe, this is the beginning of an end. The question is: is this the end of something that's bad and beginning of something good? or the other way around. Either way, I have gained my imagination and I have lost my imagination to make up an avatar in a flick of a hand. Is this what we are becoming right now?
