The scientific jargon that came with having not one but both of your fated being inventors was overwhelming. The words they tossed around became an entire other language since you’d all gotten closer. It left you feeling unbearably empty-headed, wondering why the universe would bond you to such intelligent men.

They were already changing an entire city with their ideas, and you would bet the world would soon bear their mark as well. In comparison, you were a meager artist making ends meet at festivals and street corners. Sure, maybe your work could be seen on a few shop signs or covering a wall or two in a cafe, but that was as famous as you’d ever be—a stranger to the passing eye.

“We need to widen the cylindrical chamber, maybe add an exhaust pipe to help with the cooldown.”

Jayce’s voice slipped through your head, smooth and confident and making no sense. You’d gotten rather good and tuning out the meat of the conversations, only recognizing the tones and emotions.

The heavy, warm accent of Viktor’s replied, swirling in the back of your mind as your pencil swiped over the heavy parchment against your thighs.

Recently, they’d begun inviting you to their lab to spend your free time in their company. There were two desks to choose from, though they were usually piled high with blueprints or notes. Jayce had moved a couch into the space for your comfort, placed in the corner and under a window, well away from any dangerous work they had their hands on, though they usually took anything too precarious into another portion of the building.

Their assistant, Sky, was in and out, always double-checking if you needed anything. She was a kind young woman, curly hair and glasses and a smile that made anyone feel at home. She brought you your own coffee and snacks, promising it was no trouble since she was already bringing them to Viktor and Jayce, anyway.

“You actually eat them,” she chuckled. “Jayce will if he notices they’re there, but it’s a long shot most days.”

You understood what she meant, seeing how focused the men became on their gadgets and studies. You’re sure if you got up and left they wouldn’t notice for a good, long while.

Today was one of those days, though there was peace in your private little corner as you sketched away. You squinted over the top of your sketchbook, skimming the outline of Viktor’s goggles pressed into his thick, winding hair and quickly adding the little licks of tresses to the paper before he was moving again.

You switched targets, taking in Jayce’s side profile and adding a bit more depth to his eyebrow and under eye.

Taking a moment to look between both drawings, you were hit with their beauty once more.

Jayce was deemed the academy’s “pretty boy,” with his strong jaw and perfect smile. He was a clean cut handsome, peak health and built with broad shoulders. He knew how to use those looks to his advantage.

On the other end was Viktor. He was a haunting beauty, sleek and angular. If he had the same charisma with speaking to the masses as Jayce did, that accent would gain him more than a fair share of admirers, but his confidence and skills lied elsewhere. He had a sharp eye and wore his emotions rather loudly on his face.

Where Jayce had faint lines from how much he smiled, Viktor had a feather soft crease between his brows from how often he furrowed them. Where the golden boy’s hands were always warm, his partner’s was cold. They made such gorgeous opposites, yet they held so many comparisons in mannerisms when it came to their shared hobbies and passions.

It was safe to say you adored them and their intricacies.

Taking a slow, deep breath you checked both shoulders before moving the tuft of black in your periphery into your hand. Gold shimmered between the dark mass that made up Jayce’s lumen, settling deeper into your palm as you raised your arms and stretched.

When you moved your drawing pad to the side, you spotted Viktor’s wedged between the apex of your thighs. Swallowing your gasp, you scooped it up, praying it hadn’t been smushed the entire time.

“When did you get there?” you whispered, rubbing your pointer finger into the tawny fuzz of his light. His lumen had always had a bit more give to it, leaving it to wedge itself under your leg or your shirt collar. Viktor’s preferred to be as close as possible to you, even if it left his lumen squished.

Jayce’s lumen was firmer, still soft but in a velveteen sort of sensation. It was bigger, taking up a good portion of your palm. Now your second month with it, you’d learned if it wasn’t on one of your shoulders, it was likely circling your head. His never went far either.

You wondered if you’d received Jayce’s lumen first, if it would have more of an attachment to you. As it stood, you’d had Viktor’s since you were young while he’d held Jayce’s and Jayce yours. The three of you being tied together had become quite the story as there went many outward poly fateds in Piltover, but luckily the gawking had passed after the first handful of weeks.

It was only a few days ago that Viktor confessed he’d been rather confused when he’d met Jayce and the lumens had flashed against one another.

“There were no similarities,” he’d explained, holding up one long, thin finger for your lumen to rest on as it hovered in front of him. The three of you were cozied up in your lackluster apartment—a studio more than a bedroom but it had a nice pullout couch and plenty of blankets to rest on in front of your heater. “Jayce was ecstatic, of course, but I was ruminating over your lumen when we first met.”

“I thought he hated me,” Jayce had murmured, breath warm against your ear as you laughed.

“I did not hate you,” huffed Viktor on your other side, rolling his eyes as he dropped his hand, your lumen resting within. “I wasn’t aware we had a third, yet—it was puzzling.”

“I had to explain it to him,” Jayce chuckled. “One of my old friends was in a poly.”

“And, then, he was even more ecstatic,” Viktor sighed but there was affection in it. “I thought you’d follow him home some nights.”

“And leave you all by yourself?” You laid your head on his shoulder, grinning as his eyes fled. It was still so early into the relationship, and he grew flustered with physical affection whereas Jayce sought it every chance. “I’d never.”

“It’s better now, we’re all together,” Jayce hummed, lowering to lay his head in your lap. You brushed your hand through his hair, smiling as his lumen lit up in Viktor’s lap.

“Yes,” Viktor had agreed, careful as he laid his head against yours. “It all feels…complete.”

Your chest warmed at the memory as you held both of their lumens in your hands, giving a fleeting kiss to each. Viktor’s snuggled happily into your palm while Jayce’s pulsed a happy gold before flying off, likely to check in with Viktor.

As your eyes lifted to follow its journey, you jumped when you found Jayce smiling from a few feet away by his desk. He seemed to be shuffling through some papers. Your lumen floated just nice his head, twinkling in the sunlight that shone through the windows behind you.

“Didn’t see you there,” you said, stretching your legs out before standing. Viktor’s lumen left your hand, keeping close to your neck.

“I hope you’re not bored.” He opened an arm up and you approached. You still grew giddy with any chance to be wrapped in his embrace, quick to accept the invitation.

“I like spending time here with you both,” you assured, giggling as he bent down to kiss your forehead. “Gives me plenty of practice.”

His eyes lit up, one of those dark eyebrows lifting. “Oh?”

“I know what you’re about to ask—”

“Please?” His arm wrapped tighter around your waist. “I wanna see.”

“They’re just rough sketches!” you laughed, pushing against his chest.

“C’mon, I bet they’re great! I’m sure Viktor wants to see them, too.”

You shook your head, a mess of giggles as he wrapped both arms around you and slowly edged his way towards the couch.

“Did someone call my name?” asked Viktor, turning from the machine he was working on. A torch was in his hand but luckily still off for the time being. Jayce’s lumen was sitting on his knee.

“Viktor tell her you want to see her art!” Jayce goaded.

“Tell him he needs to wait for a real piece,” you threw back, wrinkling your nose at him as he stuck his tongue out.

“You’ve been drawing us?” Viktor’s voice seeped with awe and innocent curiosity. “May we see?”

Jayce bounced his eyebrows at you, all too smug. “Told you.”

“Fine—fine!” you sighed, throwing your hands up and wiggling out of his hold as you went to grab your canvas notebook. “Don’t gripe when you see your half-finished faces.”

The tap of Viktor’s crutch intermingled with Jayce’s footsteps as they met you by the couch. As you handed over your work, Viktor was the one to accept it as Jace stood over him. Both their eyes went wide at the current page and your hand went straight to your arm as you shuffled in place.

“Those are just warmups, so…”

“Warmups?” Jayce breathed, looking up from the notebook. “These are amazing!”

“I have to agree, the detail is astounding,” Viktor hummed, looking to turn back a page. He caught your eyes before he did. “Is this all right? Tell us if we’re overstepping.”

“No, it’s okay! I’m used to people watching me draw on the street, it’s just… I don’t know.” You shrugged, bringing a hand up as Viktor’s lumen rubbed against your neck. Jayce’s was just settling on your shoulder again. “I care about what you guys think. It’s not anything big like you do, but…”

“Big?” Jayce echoed, both of their sights set on you.

“Well, it’s not as important as what you both do is what I mean.”

“Of course it’s important,” Viktor argued, expression stern.

“But it’s art!” you laughed, waving off the sudden seriousness growing from them. “It’s helping a bunch of people like your creations do. That’s much more important.”

“Art is just as, if not more, important,” he continued, passing the notebook to Jayce. “We are helping people in different ways, but do not do yourself the disservice and think what you create is anything less than what we do.”

“He’s right,” Jayce agreed, holding up your work. “This? This speaks to people. Your work can bring life to a room and lets people save a special moment in time.”

“Okay, don’t butter me up so much or I’ll melt!” you squeaked, too embarrassed to look at them as they chuckled and continued flipping through your sketches. It wasn’t long before the three of you were on the couch, both of them pointing out their favorites.

“Is my hair truly that messy?” Viktor grumbled, raising a hand to it. “Perhaps I should cut it.”

“No, I like it,” you said, grabbing his wrist. “You twirl it when you’re thinking! It’s so sweet.”

He blinked at you. “I do?”

Jayce whistled and you turned and gasped, completely forgetting the drawing you’d done of him in the forge. It was more from memory so your imagination had left it a bit more detailed than the rest.

“Okay, that’s enough!”

You swiped for the book, shutting it as Jayce laughed. Viktor rolled his eyes, smirking as he nudged your shoulder.

“Should I be worried of any scandalous pieces of me in there?”

You pouted, holding the notebook tighter to your chest.

“Oh?” Jayce breathed. “She didn’t say no!”

“You two are the worst!” you groaned, unable to help yourself from smiling as they both laughed in tandem.

Okay so I was thinking about Sonic Cowboy AU thoughts. Obviously all my ideas for it are very much informed by the designs from candycatsuffs's Cowboy Sonic pics, they kind of set the benchmark for Sonic Cowboys I think everyone would agree. These ideas are my own though, they just take inspiration from those designs.

Would be set in and around a frontier town which is still on the wild side of the west, though the days of the gold rush are over and the industrialization of the east is starting to claw out in efforts to "civilize" the west.

Sonic would be a cowboy. Like straight up just a cowboy. As in he ranges cattle for a ranch, shepherding herds of cows into town. He spends most of his time in the plains, and is often beset by cattle rustlers. But he's the fastest quick draw in the West, so he's able to protect his herds single handedly.

Eggman would be a rail king robber baron the CEO of Eggman Enterprise, a big city fat cat who is building a railroad and train station through the town. He uses an army of steam powered robots to build the rails, and also is being corrupt and exploitative to the town in general while their enterprise is moving through it.

Knuckles would be the town sheriff. Doing what he can to keep the peace with the railway making trouble in town, along with all the unsavory individuals that are being attracted to the town by the industrial activity.

Tails would be an inventor using the latest in steam powered technology, but would be regarded as a crackpot by the town. And the Eggman enterprise would soon start strong arming him into joining the railroad.

Amy would be an Annie Oakley style trick shooter as part of a Wild West show that is trouping through town, using a short barrel Winchester rifle. She would transition into becoming a bounty hunter after Eggman buys out the Wild West show and liquidates it making it go defunct.

Vanilla runs the towns Saloon (soda bar) along with her daughter Cream.

Shadow Rouge Maria and Gerald would be an outlaw gang. Shadow would rob stage coaches, and Rouge would be a Saloon girl who mostly rips off her John's. Gerald was the founder of the company that became Eggman Enterprise and is now this gangs mastermind but his brain is starting to deteriorate and he suffers bouts of dementia, and Maria would tend to the gangs camp both in providing creature comforts and in defending it from interlopers while Shadow and Rouge are away. They'd find and recruit a Steambot Omega when finding him while breaking into an Eggman Enterprise mobile headquarters that travels on the rails.

Fang would be a card cheat who spends most of his time at the saloon gambling and scamming. Often spends the nights in jail. But gets hired by Eggman Enterprise to go from small time to big time.

I think of a scene that's like, Eggmans robots are busting into Tails curios shop and dragging him out into the street trying to bring him to Eggman, since he's been trying to intimidate Tails into joining the railroad for a while but kept getting rejected. So now he's basically trying to shanghai Tails into joining against his will. All the main characters are in town watching it go down and all of them, particularly Knuckles and Amy, take umbrage with it but feel conflicted about intervening due to the influence Eggman Enterprise has over the town.

But a blue gust rolls through and Sonic yells out "hey rust buckets, why don't you pick on someone your own size!" And all eyes are on him. Six steambots are suddenly staring him down and everyone thinks Sonic is practically just sacrificing himself in vain. But when the steambots rush at Sonic, in the blink of an eye Sonic draws his six shooter and rapid fire plugs each one of the bots hitting them in a vital steam pipe that makes them crumble into a pile of scrap. It takes a few seconds for anyone (except Shadow) to even realize what happened by the time the steambots are a pile of junk letting out noises like garbled teakettles.

Eggman stomps in and demands to know what happened to his robots, looking at Sonic while he's casually emptying the shells from his guns cylinder and using a speed reloader and looking smug and cocky. Eggman looks at Knuckles, the law, who just shrugs and says he didn't see nothing. Tails is in awe at being saved, and Amy is flustered in admiration.

Eggman decides to take petty vengeance by having his steambots target Sonic's cattle herds while he's out ranging with them, but he protects his cows with ease and finesse. This stretches his resources he should be using to expand the railroad thin, and let's the other characters take risks in making their moves against the Enterprise as well.

And so things would develop from there that's all I've thought of so far lol

My Pipe Collection

No one will remember that I said this because it was ages ago and only one person replied to it, but the reason I like drawing Kaiju with a pipe is because I collect them irl! Fun times :D Anyway, thought it would be fun to show off my pipe collection and share a bit about them. Without further adue: First off, the first pipe I ever got! This style of pipe with the long stem is called a "Churchwarden". This is aesthetically my favorite type of pipe because it reminds me of Gandalf, and I absolutely love anything with wizard vibes. I also really like the name for it. What makes this pipe nice is that the longer stem allows the smoke to cool more before it reaches your mouth, so it's easier to avoid getting tongue-bite with it (a sort of feeling of having burned your tongue a bit; it often happens if the tobacco gets too hot). The main drawback is that, because the bowl is further from your nose, you can't really smell the tobacco as much, which is a bummer because I think the scent is one of the many reasons I enjoy pipes. (If you've smelled cigarette smoke and not pipe smoke, I assure you that pipe smoke smells more pleasant; there's not any chemical additives in pipe tobacco and they burn a little cooler I think. But it's also kind of subjective, anyway.)

(That bit of metal sticking off the front isn't part of the pipe, it's my pipe tamper, which I just used to prop the pipe up with; you'll notice it in a few of the other pics because I don't have a proper pipe stand :')) Don't know the company that made this one, but it's probably the most expensive pipe I have (it was about $80). I remember the day I bought it; I went to a cigar shop shortly after I turned 18 (which was then the legal smoking age in my state). There was a bunch of old guys with big beards sitting around a table and playing poker. Scrawny 18-year-old me felt very out of place, but the gentleman behind the counter was very helpful. I picked this pipe because it was the cheapest one they had at the time. I have since found cheaper ones, but I suppose they only had pricy ones at that store.

These next two I shall present together, as they're both from the same company; these are Missouri Meerschaum pipes! It's a nice company because all their pipes are turbo-cheap (these were each about $10). The corn cob pipe is a classic, often sported by popeye and random famers! I like the corncob because it's lighter than my other pipes, so it's a good "walking around" pipe since I can hold it with just my teeth easier, rather than having to hold it in my hand as much. I think the other is called an "apple pipe", lol. Not much to say about it. It's nice, I suppose.

I don't like the stem color on these; the transparent orange just looks out of place to me. You can buy replacement stems, though, and I plan to get a couple black ones at some point. I bought the corn cob from Amazon and the Apple from Missouri Meerschaum's website. I am docking points from these two because they're a bit of a pain to clean. Where a better-made pipe will be completely smooth inside, you can see the stem in these ones is clearly just jammed into the side. Tobacco gets stuck in the little gaps around it and it can be a tad annoying to clean out as a result lol.

(Corn cob pipe is on the right; did my best to show what i was talking about but it was hard to get good lighting. You can *kind of* see it though) Next up, this pipe shape is called a "Diplomat" I think. This was the third pipe I bought, and I got it off of Amazon. If you look closely you can see it has "Free Boy" inscribed on it. For the brief period where I had a fellow pipe smoker living down the road from me, he poked fun at me for it because it sounded kind of funny (and I agree with this assessment lol)

Not a whole whole lot else to say about it. Some pipes let you use filters in them. You'll find debate on pipe forums over weather it's better with or without them; I always use a filter in my pipes that allow it because it's supposed to get rid of some of the tar and other nasty stuff that comes in tobacco. Some folks claim that filters remove the flavor but I haven't personally noticed a difference. The Free Boy pipe requires these big fancy filters; there's some kind of pellets inside it so it rattles if you shake it. Shown compared to the filters I use in my Missouri Meerschaum pipes (the longer filter), which are just some kind of rolled-up paper-y material.

And that just leaves my clay pipes! I absolutely love these things. I wasn't too interested in clay pipes at first, but wanted to get one after watching a video that talked about the history of clay pipes. I found it really fascinating; I didn't expect to actually enjoy using it, but I thought it would be neat to have in my collection as a cool novelty. After trying it out, though, it became one of my favorite pipes! For some reason I find these are easier to pack right and keep lit than my other pipes, and I really love how small and lightweight they are. I liked that first one so much that I got a second; it's cool because it looks like an eagle claw! :D I find them really easy to clean, too. I've been told that you can apparently "deep clean" a clay pipe by tossing it in the oven and heating it up for a while. I have never tried this but can share the results if I ever do (I probably won't tho ngl). Both of these were purchased from a website called PipesAndCigars, which has since been my go-to site for these sorts of things. For some reason every package I've gotten from that site came with like four coupons for other things, including Doordash and some kind of wine-store site, none of which I ever use, lol.

I have all sorts of fun facts about clay pipes I could rattle off but I will spare you that and maybe save them for a future post. For now I'll say this: the biggest drawback on these is that I have to resist the urge to bite down on the stem. Besides the fact that it feels unpleasant (go bite a rock sometime if you're curious how it feels), it's really bad for your teeth. Fun fact: a large amount of skulls from Victorian-era England have giant gaping holes between the teeth from where people were biting down on their clay pipes. I do not want tooth-holes so I just hold these with my hands. The bowls occasionally get too hot to hold so you have to hold them by the stem sometimes, though. Which isn't a huge deal but feels a bit wrong to me for some reason. Ah well. Anyway, that about does it for my pipe collection. I'm eyeing another churchwarden pipe made entirely out of wood as one of the next ones to get. The wizard vibes will increase exponentially! :D Anyway, for all 2 people who actually read me rambling about my little hobby, cheers! the good(ish):

major is a sweet boy underneath it all, he just has a hard time showing it. once he gets to know someone, he's very giving in emotional support. he shows up when one of his people needs him, sometimes even to his detriment... especially when he's stepping in with people who might not be very good for him, but he's never been so good at filtering his own company.

maybe Leninist Pope - his band - hitting it big is a pipe dream, but when it comes down to it, major is talented. he's a killer on the bass, he can sing enough to run back up, and he can fake his way through a guitar melody like a true musician. he might be able to get paid for it if he could focus a little harder... but who knows if he'll step into line.

major really does love kids, and he knows it stems directly from the lack of parental love he suffered through in his own life. he loves his own kid, even if it's hard to show it sometime. he looks out for a lot of the kids on the block he grew up on. he doesn't really have the brains to help anyone study, and he can't exactly float the hungry ones money anymore when he has his own kid to feed, but he at least tries to make sure that the little weirdos have somebody to watch their back.

the bad:

although the birth of his and tessa's baby was sort of an unpleasant shock, major genuinely does love the time he spends with the kid, and he really does love tess. she's always been his sweetheart: the mere thought of her has gotten him out of some rough scrapes at rock bottom. when taking care of their kid tests him, though, he's failing more often than not - even when he tries. it makes him feel like some deadbeat dad; or maybe a little too much like his own deadbeat dad. sometimes he thinks they might be better off if he just left them alone, but if that's what he thinks, then he's too selfish to do what's right.

major has always had the wrong friends. he's gotten himself into fights, and thrown into cuffs more than a few times. there's been a stint in juvie or two. when he had his kid he made a promise that he'd leave it behind, but his promise that he'd get tessa cash when she needed it outweighed the first one. stealing cars wasn't his usual groove, and sometimes it scares the shit out of him - but until he figures something else out that's a little more above board, he considers himself stuck in the game.

the ugly:

in the most simple of terms, major is short for 'major mommy and daddy issues.' his mother was murdered by his father when he was twelve years old, and though he always saw it ending that way, nothing could have prepared him for the reality of the situation. he was bounced around in group homes and foster homes for a few years after it all went down, but he landed himself in a pretty good spot sometime in high school. they're his family now, and they love him, but he'll probably stay their problem kid - guess the shit he learned in the system was unshakeable.

New neighbors Au - Wordgirl x Welcome home chapter 2

A few days have passed, being that it was the weekend, there was no school. So the Boxleitner family took time to relax and hang out together. Their parents had yet to come off of work in close to an hour so in the meantime they were trying to figure out what to do.

Well Bob decided to go raid the fridge for a snack. That left the three kids to ponder.

Becky, Chase and Blu sat on the couch. Blu had decided to grab her crayons to color a picture. Squeaky, who was out of his cage, poked his head out of her overalls pocket. The two older siblings frowned upon seeing the mouse, obviously they weren't too fond of him. After shooting them a glare he hid again.
