📸 Syd Barrett and Rick Wright at Abbey Road Studios, then simply called EMI Studios, during the recording of The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Pink Floyd debut album, in 1967.
The Beatles were recording Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band (1967) album in one of the rooms next door and the two bands met during the sessions. ✨🎧

Pink Floyd Discography Study~ Album #1- Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
Realeased in 1967. Overall an interesting album. You can almost hear them get more confident in the way they play as you listen through the album. You can also here a lot of the influences Syd Barrett took from the Beatles. At the same time this album was being recorded at Abbey Road, the Beatles were recording Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, which makes me wonder truly how often their works were shared and how much influence each respective band allowed each other to take.
Album 1 #1 Astronomy Domine-
7/10 Love the spirituality hidden within this song.
Album 1 #2 Lucifer Sam-
5/10. Unremarkable track.
Album 1 #3 Matilda Mother-
9/10, one of my favorite tracks from this album. You can already hear the influence of psychedelia listening to this.
Album 1 #4 Flaming-
8/10, listening to this track I can't help but have the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland pop into my head.
Album 1 #5 Pow R. Toc. Н.-
6/10. Not much to say, jarring intro.
Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk-
Album 1 #6 3/10, this song in particular sounds like a practice session they decided to just produce anyways in my opinion.
Album 1 #7 Interstellar Overdrive-
7/10, this song is a hint at the kind of riffs and random instrumentals they'd put in later songs, you can almost hear some of their later work hidden within this song.
Album 1 #8 The Gnome
10/10, best song on this album by far. I remember when I was growing up my dad and grandpa would reference Grimble Crumble.
Album 1 #9 Chapter 24-
8/10, I love the use of bass guitar in this song. The use of their now famous MD 409 vocalizer really starts to become apparent in this song. I also think this is the begining of them telling complex stories with hidden details within their songs.
Album 1 #10 The Scarecrow-
7/10, Another track where you can hear what they will one day be, but can tell they aren't there yet.
Album 1 #11 Bike-
9/10, the lack of the MD 409 is interesting. The way the speed of the song alternates gives a unique listening experience even when it comes to psychedelic rock. The beginning is almost soothing in a way, whereas the ending is jarring and gives an unsettling effect.

I was talking to a friend about Syd Barrett last evening, he hadn't heard of him, and I started playing "See Emily Play" on the guitar to show him what kinda songwriting Syd did and I kid you not, 2 sec into the song the lightbulbs in the room burned out and we were pretty much in darkness except a little light from the hall and I continued playing, he was like "I guess that was supposed to happen"

New found pictures of Iggy the Eskimo
Photographer and artist Kevin Geronimo Brandtner is a collector of all things beautiful and curious, from Vienna, Austria. On one of his discovery expeditions, end of June 2023, he entered a second-hand shop and… Well, why don’t we let him tell about it?
“I happened to be in a second-hand shop today. As I work in the darkroom myself, this contact print was interesting. When I got home I realised it was Iggy Rose (Iggy the Eskimo/Inuit) the muse of former Pink Floyd guitarist Syd Barrett. The pictures seem to be unknown because I can't find them anywhere.
So many questions. The photographer seems to have been Lukas Feri. Little is known about him either. The print is original from the 70s with markings.”
