Remember this post and this post? Well I thought of more to add.
Set during the Sound Ninja attack:
Sasuke woke up and he was pissed.
"Sakura," he called to the Uchiha soulmate gently. "Who did this to you?"
The pink haired girl was covered in scrapes and bruises. One of her eyes was swelled shut while dried blood was stained all over her. Her pink hair was cut, and Sasuke could see clumps of it littering the ground from the corner of his eye.
But with her hair no longer in the way Sasuke could perfectly see the Haruno circle on her back. The red inside the circle had been torn, and a cut is now bleeding where the Uchiha fan marked her skin.
Someone had tired to cut the soulmate mark that connected Sakura to the Uchiha. Someone had tried to kill an Uchiha soulmate. Someone had tried to take Sakura away from him.
Sasuke saw red.
Two voices raged inside Sasuke's mind. Both of them demanding for the head of the scum that tried to take their soulmate.
"It's okay Sakura, just tell me," Sasuke urged. His eyes never left her form. The last time he did she was beaten nine ways to hell. He's the blood born Uchiha it's his duty to protect the soulmates of the clan.
"I did!" A cocky voice declared.
Sasuke turned to look. It was the lanky looking sound ninja with metal in his hands.
'Kill him, make him regret laying his filthy hands on our soulmate', the voices demanded.
Sasuke smirked. 'With pleasure.'
Sasuke felt chakra travel across his skin as that scumbag raised his hands to attack. That scum will not hurt his Sakura again.
"Supersonic Air-Slice!"
'Protect our soulmate!'
"Heh," the scum smirked. "Blown them all away."
"Blown who away?"
Sasuke smirked as he sent that piece of shit flying. He'll handle him away from his Sakura.
Hidding shurkins in the flames Sasuke took his chance to get a hold of that fucker's arms. Sasuke pulled as his foot pushed down on the scum's back.
"You must be very proud of your arms," Sasuke said as he pulled harder.
'Rip. Them. Off!' The voices commanded. 'Avenge our soulmate!'
Sasuke pulled harder and harder, relishing in joy as the scum screamed.
A crack, and Sasuke drops that piece of filth.
'Good boy. Now finish them and get back to our soulmate.'
Sasuke faced the last standing sound nin. "Looks like you're the only one left."
Sakura stared in horror. This, this wasn't Sasuke. He wasn't blood thirsty or cruel. He wouldn't torture an opponent like this.
'Help him, he needs you,' two familiar voices whispered to Sakura.
Without realizing it Sakura forced her body to run. "STOP!"
Sasuke froze as two arms wrapped themselves around him.
"Stop," his Sakura cried. "Please stop."
Sasuke looked down into his Sakura's eyes. The tears falling, falling because of him, felt like a punch to the heart.
'She needs you,' the voices urged. 'Our soulmate comes first.'
'Sakura needs me,' Sasuke thought as he let go of the dark chakra. He let himself lean into her. Using the opportunity to cluch the circle on her back and force the last of his natural chakra into his palm.
He felt his body truly relax as he felt the soulmate mark fix itself on Sakura's back.
Fugaku had told his wife of his encounter with Sakura. His eyes narrowed when Mikoto bit her lower lip.
"Mikoto what's wrong?"
The Uchiha matriarch sighed and pulled out the scroll of Shachi. It holds the name of every soulmate born for the Uchiha and the name of their Uchiha soulmate. It's one of the Uchiha's most valuable possessions.
"It will be another six years but I believe we have found Sasuke's soulmate," Mikoto said as she opened the scroll.
Fugaku's eyes widened as he looked the last name on the scroll.
Sakura Haruno

Commission for the ever so lovely @bouncyirwin - who spreads joy, happiness, and support as freely and easily as some people breathe (this fandom wouldn’t be the same without you 💜💜💜💜💜)
---
How anyone could so much as breathe without adoration hitching their efforts around her, Shisui really didn’t know.
This wasn’t even the first time this week he’d found himself staring in awe without a word able to escape him. Sakura had a way of making him dumb to the quick wit and playful flirting that usually came as natural as most any other social interaction to him - he’d always been the social butterfly of his clan, berated for it at times and having his hair fondly tousled at others. And yet here he sat, in the corner of the little restaurant Sakura and her team and her team’s families had all crowded into, unable to absorb any of the chatter or whatever joke had Kakashi snickering behind his book or even what had Naruto and the brat arguing this time.
Sakura seemed content enough to sit back and soak it all in as well, pride in the soft smile that graced her lips, a cup of tea cradled in her hand near her chest in lieu of the spirit that many of her companions had chosen to partake in this evening. And who could blame them? Rare was the day any shinobi party could come back unscathed along with their success, and given the tentative peace between Konoha and Kiri could have been destroyed at the smallest misstep their celebration came with relief felt by the entire village.
It warmed him to no end to see her so content and sure, so proud, none of the hesitance that used to haunt her expressions and tense her body anywhere to be found - the kunoichi that had chased and chased after her teammates had long since caught up and surpassed them in so many ways, and even without being privy to the intimate details of her internal battles Shisui could feel emotion trying to choke him.
Gods, but he had it bad, didn’t he? He forced some of his own tea down, looking away from the woman who had no idea she held his heart so tightly in her grip, scrubbing his face with his free hand in an attempt to clear his head. Admiration was one thing - very understandable in this case, given Sakura set the precedent for strong and capable shinobi who could punch a ravine into existence - but they could hardly even be called friends if he was honest with himself. So openly staring at her with his heart in his eyes could definitely count as creepy.
Maybe he needed more hobbies.
“Not really like you to hang out on the sidelines.”
It was a bit embarrassing to be snuck up on like that. He hoped his surprise wasn’t too obvious as he peeked through his hands, finding the woman who’d been occupying his thoughts all night now occupying the seat next to him. Up so close he could see her cheeks were dusted pink, though he couldn’t really tell if it was the chill from the night air or just some blush she’d painted on.
Either way. It didn’t really matter which one it was. All Shisui could really do with the information is filing it under “she’s the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever met” and keep the simple image of her tucking some pink hair behind her ear firmly in his mind’s eye for the rest of his days.
“Not a place I’d expect to find you either.” She blinked at his words as if confused, pursing her lips even, so despite how obvious it seemed to him Shisui clarified, “You more the frontline type, right?”
“Ah, yeah, I don’t really care for ‘supporting others’ to mean ‘being left behind.’ But today,” Sakura turned just enough to look over at her teammates, Shisui following her gaze to see Naruto gesturing wildly in horror at something that had Sasuke snickering unashamedly. “Today, I think I’m alright with not being in the middle of them. There are some conversations I’d rather they have without me.”
“What even has them going, anyway?”
“Relationships,” Sakura said, a little too quickly. But she didn’t let the awkwardness stay, her eyes flicking down to her tea which she held between her hands as if her fingers might be cold. Shisui wished he could warm them between his own. “Well, not exactly relationships. More like things people do in them. They seem to find it amusing to list all the people they’ve managed to kiss or make out with.”
With a snort, Shisui said, “I’m guessing they’re both at the top of each other’s lists then?”
He was very glad to see the tiny bit of tension relax right away from Sakura as she laughed, her eyes alight with mirth. “Somehow, they always seem to forget to mention that.”
“Bet you love to remind them.”
“Bet I do.” She flashed him a smile that had his ears heating up, and for the life of him Shisui could not say why it made him feel bold.
Despite how calm people saw him, despite his rather laid back nature, Shisui often found himself tongue tied where feelings were involved. But past his beating heart he somehow managed to not make a fool of himself, his nerves not overwhelming him - perhaps it was simply how welcomed he felt in her presence? How inviting and warm she was even as all she did was sip her tea, simply existing but existing there, next to him, when any number of seats were available next to those she was far closer to. And didn’t that make him feel lucky.
“Do you have a list?”
The gods only knew how he managed to make that sound casual. Even when Sakura’s eyes widened and blinked up at him (he swore his favorite color used to be blue but damn if that shade of green wasn’t going to change that) - and for a terrifying moment he remembered just how easily this woman could demolish any wall that stood in her way. With her fist.
Even if that wall was made with solid concrete, or was, say, a whole ass mountain. He was pretty sure he wasn’t anywhere near as solid as a mountain.
When she chose to not punch him, every single last bone in his body heaved a sigh of thankfully unbroken relief. “No, I...don’t have a list.”
No list? That was a little surprising. “A name, then?” Maybe not the best thing to ask someone, at least not before he was sure she would be comfortable with answering. Shisui was quick to add “Unless it’s a secret or something” - the last thing he needed was to drive her away by pushing into her own personal life.
Though, then again - and something in Shisui rose up in slight saddened panic at the thought - what would he do if she did have a name? A significant other? Itachi was out on another of his long missions, who exactly was he supposed to lean on and eat comfort chocolate with if it turned out his growing crush was, well...crushed, before anything could come of it?
“No. No name.”
It took physical effort to not sag with some sort of relief at her words, but it wasn’t a relief that Shisui had much time to process. Because as much as he wanted a chance with the woman of his dreams, as much as he had wanted to hear that...
“Eh? Really? You?” Shisui found it beyond the realms of possibility that Sakura, of all the people in Konoha, had yet to have her first kiss, and that shock was perhaps a bit too loud in his tone.
Definitely not good for his health and wellbeing. The nerve on Sakura’s forehead was suddenly twitching, and the sharp look she sent his way had him gulping.
“And what’s that supposed to mean?”
“Oh, no! No no, nothing- I didn’t mean like that!” He shook his head a little more than necessary, horror dawning on him as he realized his unintentional insinuation. “I just meant- you’re just, well, beautiful! Beautiful and an exceptional shinobi, a damn good medic, and from what Sasuke’s told me in confidence you make a mean blueberry tart. Not to mention you could punch through steel if it offended you.” By some grace of the gods he managed to bit off his rambling there, scratching nervously at the back of his head, almost mumbling as he ended his poor excuse of an explanation with, “I just expected, you know… You might have kissed at least one of the people who admired you.”
The moments of quiet after his words were probably the most terrifying seconds of his life, though by some mercy Sakura did not seem angry. Maybe his apology/explanation was acceptable after all and he wouldn’t have to-
Sakura said something under her breath, and Shisui blinked back out of his thoughts, frowning a little in confusion. “What?”
“It’s just that I…” Her bottom lip caught between her teeth for a moment, drawing Shisui’s eyes. “I’ve never really had an appealing offer. You know?”
Had she always been sitting that close to him? Their thighs were touching and Shisui couldn’t remember when that had happened, but his pulse picked up, the whole of him keenly aware of every inch of her.
And how bad would it be, really, to be buried in the ground by those deceptively slender fingers?
“Would I,” Shisui started, with a smooth tone that belied how his heart beat frantically in his chest, “qualify as an appealing offer?”
A breath. Two. Sakura’s gaze flickered down to his lips as hers parted the barest bit - and even before she nodded Shisui knew her answer - though he knew not how he'd been so lucky as to get a yes.
Her hair was soft under his fingers as he cupped the back of her head, her pupils wide as she tilted her chin to look up at him. Somewhere in the back of his mind he was aware that they were not alone, their friends and coworkers laughing and drinking and chattering away not even half a small restaurant away from them, but all of him preferred to focus on Sakura’s hand now coming to rest on his arm, the way she shifted forward as he leaned closer, how intimate it felt to brush their noses together, her breath tickling his lips.
And then their lips met, and the rest of the world fell away.

of love and gratitude
Tumblr media
A/N: this was requested by my dear twitter friend alex ❤️
tw for blood, crying and mentions of death.
“You’re coming?” You asked in an excitedly incredulous tone of voice.
It’s been a very, very long time since you and your husband, Kakashi, have been on a mission together. Not since you assisted him in tracking and infiltrating Akatsuki. Ever since your husband had been officially assigned as the sixth Hokage, he had been caged in his office dealing with documents and formal stuffy meetings for months. And you can see how it affected your husband. He would often complain of how boring his job was, despite the importance of it, and how he would be glad to save a cat stuck in a tree if it meant he could leave his office.
“I am.” Kakashi replied as he contained the excitement in his voice. You could almost see his body shake with elation. “The mission is ranked as an S mission that even Anbu had a difficult time completing. I was requested to assist them on the behalf of the council. You’re joining us because of your exceptional skills with Katana and daggers.”
The silver haired Shinobi took a couple of steps forward to stand in front of you, “And because you’re my wife and I miss you.” He then leaned in and kissed your lips.
“Kakashi-sama, Y/N. It’s good to see you.” Yamato greeted, early the next morning.
Kakashi let out a groan. Not only was he woken early but he also made it on time to their rendezvous. “I liked it better when you called me senpai.” He muttered under his breath.
Sakura offered a wave, a small smile curving her lips. The pinkette had dark circles under her eyes, indicating that she had slept poorly the previous night. Her pink locks were tied into a messy bun and her clothes were wrinkled. You kind of felt sorry that she was accompanying you on your mission. The girl needed to rest and you wished you could give her that. Working at a hospital full time was no easy task, especially for someone as young as Sakura.
“It’s good to see you too, Yamato. You too Sakura-chan,” you replied warmly. It felt wonderful to be up so early for a mission instead of trying to get your husband to wake up early and shove his ass out the door to go to work. You cracked your neck and knuckles, eager to get the mission started.
“Alright, recap of the mission summary: Some Otogakure Shinobi rebels who still believe in Orochimaru’s ideology have been spying on Naruto to extract the Jinchuuriki and use it to their advantage. Our job is to apprehend the enemy and gather information on their group and if they had any allies in other villages.”
You and Yamato nodded your head at him.
The news of Orochimaru supporters was not new to any of you. Ever since the end of the Fourth Shinobi War, there had been hearsay on their reformation but no one had made any moves until just recently. Anbu had been suspecting a trader and tracked him down, only to discover that Orochimaru’s followers were active and plotting for battle. Unfortunately, the Anbu team was almost wiped out in a sudden ambush in the middle of the forest.
The journey to the outskirts of Konoha was spent in silence, save for the light ruffle of tree leaves being blown by the wind and the melodic chirps of the birds. It was quite, peaceful even. Almost giving you the false illusion that you were traveling for holiday instead of onto a difficult and long mission that could be life threatening.
You spared a glance at Kakashi and couldn’t help the small smile stretch across your lips. Although he had to wake up as early as five in the morning, Kakashi looked refreshed, as if he had a full night’s rest. Which was something quite rare since he was still haunted by the memory of his fallen teammates and father figure, Minato. However, they had lessened through the years, especially after he had met Obito during the Fourth War. It was difficult for Kakashi. He had confided in you that during the battle, he felt hope bubbling inside of him at the idea of having Obito back in his life. His mind played rosy colored images of them being the best of friends; visiting Rin and Minato’s graves, him introducing Obito to you, having Obito safe and sound and basically living a normal  life. But his mind was cruel, however, as it winded its thin and boney fingers around the images and ripped them to shreds. Robbing Kakashi of that short lived serenity. The copy-cat Shinobi couldn’t sleep for weeks afterwards, constantly crying in his sleep and waking up with a start. It was a while, but eventually, Kakashi was able to move on and promised his team that he wouldn’t take life for granted. That he would live life they way they couldn’t.
Kakashi spotted you glancing at him and offered you a smile under his mask. Your heart fluttered with love. Kakashi deserved all the love and support the world had to offer him and you were grateful that he wanted to receive them from you. To reciprocate those feelings to you. He chose you to be his backbone and he allowed you into his world to help him heal, feel and to live. It was a huge responsibility, nerve wracking almost. Though, you toughened it out and faced his traumas head on. It wasn’t one sided either. Kakashi had done the exact same thing to you. He was by your side when you felt alone. He held your hands when you felt scared to return to being an active Shinobi when you almost lost your life all those years ago on an S rank mission. And Kakashi brought you joy, love and safety. Soon, your worlds merged into one and you were both at your happiest. It almost felt too good to be true.
-
The team has been traveling for two days with minimal amounts of sleep. It wasn't until the third morning did you stop in your journey when Yamato had stopped at a clearing, staring intensely at a speck he found, a torn piece of pale grey fabric.
“Could belong to Otogakure.” He stated once all of his teammates came to a stop and surrounded the piece of fabric. Kakashi nodded and, with lightning speed, summoned his Ninken. Before the wrinkly pub could utter his usual greeting, Kakashi held his index finger against his lips, indicating for the dog to stay quiet. Using the signals that he had trained his dogs with since he was a child - signals you’ve come to memorize by heart after dating Kakashi and being introduced to his Ninken - to debrief them on the mission you were all on. You then saw that your husband had instructed them to smell around the area, starting with the piece of fabric, and pick up any stray trail.
It took them about twenty minutes of them sniffing around before Shiba stood tall and alert. Kakashi and Pakkun both went to him and watched as the dog tilted his head this way and that, Kakashi nodding along every few seconds. When Shiba was done, Kakashi reached down, ruffled his fur and slipped a small dog biscuit into his mouth.
“The track is weak but Shiba could lead us to where the rogue Shinobi might be.” Kakashi announced quietly, “We head east from here.”
You, Yamato and Sakura all nodded your heads and followed after the light grey colored dog after Kakashi had dismissed the rest.
The track led you deep into a forest where the branches were thick and the leaves were colored a dark shade of green, your shadows moving and warping against the trees. Had you not seen the sun shining down on you in the clearing earlier, you would’ve mistaken it to have been night time rather than day.
Shiba suddenly came to a halt and rapidly sniffed the air around him. Before he could yell out his warning, six Shinobi had jumped out from the dark colored leaves and attacked.
The Shinobi were strong, Kakashi could see why so many Anbu had failed in capturing them. Through his peripheral vision, he could tell that Sakura was fighting against one of the enemies while Yamato was fighting with two, one was being flung around by the branch Yamato had summoned as he fought in close combat with the other. Kakashi tried searching for you but couldn’t find you. Just that moment, his opponent ducked and thrust his Kunai in hopes to slash Kakashi’s leg but he was too slow. Kakashi was so engrossed in trying to jump away from the Shinobi trying to slash at him every two steps, he failed to notice that his second opponent had slipped away from the fight and by the time he had, it was already too late.
It had all happened too fast. One second he just landed a strong punch, successfully breaking the Shinobi’s nose and rendering him unconscious and the next, he heard you cry out in pain. Whipping his head around, he watched with horrified wide eyes as your body slumped forward, a Kunai shoved deep into your back and dangerously close to your spine.
“Y/N!” Kakashi screamed and rushed to your side to hold you in his arms.
“K-Kakashi.” You gasped weakly as your husband tried to hold you up. Your vision blurred and it was difficult to stare at the silver haired Shinobi. A burning sensation filled your lungs with every breath you took and you struggled to keep your eyes open.
“Y/N, stay with me!” Kakashi barked, “Don’t close your eyes!”
There was a soft thud somewhere; could be closer or nearby the area. But you were too out of it to really tell. Though, you immediately felt another pair of hands grab onto your left arm and drape it across broad shoulders.
“Sakura!” A voice yelled urgently, however you don’t know why. Things were getting hazy and it was strenuous to stay focused on your surroundings. Everything became cold. Your limbs grew weak. And your head felt heavy. Everything hurt and you just wanted to sleep.
“Baby, stay awake. We’re gonna fix this, okay?” A voice that trembled with fear spoke. The words were fast and clumsy. You nodded your head in response despite your eyes closing fully.
“Oi, Y/N!”
And just as a tingling sensation grew into a strong sting on your lower back, you were pulled deep into an ocean of darkness.
-
White noise invaded Kakashi’s ears as he was being pushed about Konoha’s Shinobi Hospital’s ICU, overpowering the hustle around him. His hands were covered in blood, stark red against his pale shaking hands. His shoes, covered in mud that dirtied the white tiled floor. And his mask was dampened with all the tears he had shed.
Kakashi never in his life had cried in front of anyone, not even you. But when he felt your body become limp in his arms and you failed to respond to him, he had genuinely thought you had died. And Kakashi lost it. He shook with all his might, and if the Kunai shoved deep into your back hadn’t killed you, then your neck snapping from Kakashi’s abusive shakes would’ve. Yamato tried to stop him, to pry his hands away from your shoulders, but he was met with the harshest glare Kakashi had ever directed at him. It wasn’t until Sakura had slapped him after successfully stopping the blood from flowing out and closing the wound to a small gash, did Kakashi finally snap out of it. The trip back to Konoha was fast and short and you were quickly admitted into the hospital. One glance at blood covered Kakashi with tears streaming down his cheeks had sent the hospital into a frenzy.
The five nurses struggled to take you from Kakashi’s hands (he was too scared to let you go, that if he looked away then you would die) while two doctors tried to sedate Kakashi. It took two shots from Kakashi’s hands to go numb, though not enough to knock him out. He helplessly watched as the nurses laid you onto a gurney and sped through the doors for emergency surgery. That was six hours ago.
Kakashi’s vision was obstructed by a beige paper cup that was filled to the brim with black coffee. Elegant swirls of grey smoke twirled heavenwards and almost successfully tempted him into grabbing the cup and chugging the whole liquid, uncaring if it burnt his throat along the way.
“Just take it.” Sakura huffed after rolling her eyes at the way Kakashi had lowered his head in shame.
“It wasn’t your fault.” She spoke once Kakashi had taken the warm drink from her hand and into his. “You were both doing your jobs. It was just...the bastard was a coward.”
Sakura’s words did nothing to ease Kakashi’s self loathing. Y/N, his caring wife, had waited patiently for years for Kakashi to move on and live a healthier life. Stayed up all night with him to comfort him through his nightmares and his insecurities. Still, there were times when those bouts of anxiety would sneak in and mercilessly torment him.
“I spoke with the surgeon operating on her.”
That had Kakashi lifting his head.
Sakura hid the smile that was threatening to stretch across her lips, she knew him too well,  “Luckily, the Kunai wasn’t shoved into deep to cause permanent damage.” She began slowly, “She will need to enroll in a rehabilitation program to help her walk again.” At the way Kakashi’s shoulders tensed, Sakura reached out and placed a hand on his right shoulder, “She’s going to be alright.”
“What’s the bad news?” Kakashi’s voice was raw. It sounded as if it was too painful for him to speak. Be it from the tears he’d shed or from the way he had screamed his wife’s name when she passed out, Sakura winced.
With a deep exhale, she replied, “She is to be dismissed from Anbu. Effective immediately.”
Dismissed.
From Anbu.
Immediately.
Kakashi’s ears rang with an annoyingly high pitched whistle. He felt dizzy and if he stood up, then he’d feel like the room was spinning.
Y/N took Anbu seriously. It wasn’t just a job for her. It was her legacy; her pride and joy. She spent most of her life in Anbu and Kakashi wondered how fate could be so cruel.
At least she didn’t die.
The voice in his head whispered.
True, had she died...Kakashi wouldn’t know what to do with himself.
He already lost so many people dear to him, losing Y/N, his best friend and the love of his life...Now that would be brutal, even fate wouldn’t be heartless to do something like that.
If only Kakashi was quick enough.
If only Kakashi was paying attention.
If only-
“She’s awake.” The head of the surgeon team interrupted his thoughts. His forehead glistened with sweat and his eyes dropped with exhaustion. But there was a small and weak smile tugging at his lips, proud of what he and his team had accomplished. “I wanted to debrief her on her surgery but she insisted that you be there, Hokage-sama.”
Weakly, Kakashi nodded his head and handed the empty paper cup to Sakura and stood up to follow the surgeon to where his wife was recovering.
“Hey, you.”
Her voice was light, playful almost. Though her skin was pale, her eyes grey and her hair matted to her forehead. However, she still greeted him sunnily, as if she hadn’t been in surgery for the past eight hours.
“H-Hi.” Kakashi replied, internally cursing at himself for stuttering and his voice breaking at the end. He knew that Y/N could tell that he had been crying. She could always tell from the way his voice broke at the end of his syllables and how nasally it sounded. He didn’t deserve her.
Y/N nodded to the empty chair beside her with great effort. Kakashi would’ve wept just then if the surgeon wasn’t waiting patiently behind him to step into the room.
“Y/N-sama,” The doctor spoke when Kakashi had taken a seat next to his wife’s bed and instantly took hold of her hand, gripping on it as if it were the life line that will rescue him from whatever darkness that was drowning him. “Do you remember what happened?”
“I do.” Her voice was scratchy and Kakashi hurriedly poured her a glass of water and handed it to her.
“Good.” The doctor wrote down on his note, “Thankfully, the surgery was a success. The Kunai wasn’t plunged too deep and thus did not damage any major nerves. However, due to the sensitivity of the surgery, two month of rehab is strongly recommended.” The doctor informed them before he hesitated. He met Kakashi’s gaze, as if asking him for permission for what he was about to say next. Seeing that Kakashi remained quiet and didn’t intervene, the doctor continued.
“As your surgeon, I have spoken to my team and the council in regards to your surgery and the post effects of it. It may have been successful, however, any strenuous activities could lead to long lasting aftermath. It was agreed that you are discharged from Anbu duty and as Shinobi. Effective immediately.”
Both the doctor and Kakashi were waiting for an outburst. For Y/N to throw a tantrum and beg the doctor for any other way for her to continue being an Anbu or be an active Shinobi. But their ears were met with nothing.
One glance at Y/N and they were both surprised to see her crying.
“Y/N!” Kakashi cried in surprise and jumped from his chair.
“I’m fine,” Y/N hiccuped as she hastily rubbed her tears away, “I’m just happy that I’m alive.” she choked. Kakashi instantly wrapped his arms around her, careful of her wounds, and laid his head atop of hers.
Sensing the need for privacy, the doctor discreetly excused himself. Though, his ears didn’t miss the choked sob coming from his Lord Hokage.
-
Six months later Y/N is fully recovered.
Her recovery wasn’t easy. There were a lot of frustrating moments and times where Y/N couldn’t stop crying. Having to relearn how to walk, something that was so natural to her, was laborious. She would stumble and sometimes trip on thin air and fall. She could only walk two steps at first before slowly walking five steps, then ten steps and so on and so forth until she could walk normally.
It was difficult, but just like how Y/N was with Kakashi, her husband was with her every single step of the way. Consoling her. Comforting her. And encouraging her. Kakashi was patient, endured all of her tantrums of frustration and was her shoulder to cry on.

A lifetime with you
A Zora x Nebra one-shot.
Warnings: none
The night air was ever so thick, however the chill in the air felt somehow different, was his emotions taking over him? Hope the fuck not. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop he was returning from a 3 day mission on some rescue revival plan, whatever, he didn’t quite understand but heck his father would slap him silly if he were to refuse a mission, but what excited him most was seeing his wife.
Reaching the window sill to their bedroom. Zora could already tell that this was their bedroom window because it was the only window in the palace that was unlocked.
Opening the window he crouched down, one hand on the window sill and another hand on the top of the window holding it up, his blue hues graced over the sleeping Silva beauty sleeping on her back with the sheets covering her entire body but her head not facing the moonlight.
He rolled his eyes to the side a little as he heard his heart thumping and his cheeks flushing Sakura pink
“How the wonders of love can do to someone...what shit hole.” His mind spoke.
Leaping forward he didn’t notice that his foot was a second behind leading to the window clashing with the ring on the back of his boot causing him to make a yelping sound, causing him ot face plant on the stone cold floor.
Lifting up his head to use his hand to swipe over his mouth, hoping that Nebra wouldn’t have woken up.
Hearing a slight groan from Nebra, Zora laid out an arm before leaning his head on the arm preventing him coming into contact with the cold floor. He perked an eye up and noticed Nebra’s hands through the blanket holding her stomach, without noticing a small smile growing on his face.
“Almost six months huh....” he whispered underneath his breath. another 3 to 4 months before their baby is brought into the world. The bridge between Peasants and Royals, this feat their taking feels way too unreal to be true.
Getting back on his feet he walked over, trying not to make any sudden noises yet slipping on the tiles. Walking to her side he threw the blanket off her, as soon as he did that Nebra wrapped her arms around her pregnant belly, still asleep. A pin drop. No words can describe how he’s feeling but a pin dropping. She’s protecting their baby. Something triggered inside him and thus, tears spilled down his cheeks, not sad tears but happy tears.
Zora’s tears had dropped down to Nebra’s cheek causing her to flutter one eye, those enchanting eyes of her viewing her boyfriend crying right in front of her as if he was attending her funeral.
“Hi cutie.” Jolting a hand back from the sudden raspy voice of a tired Nebra Silva.
She lifted her right hand up wanting to play with his cheek. Lifting down to his knees, Nebra played and pinch with his cheeks. Zora couldn’t hold back his small laughter, happy tears still spilling down, giggles filled the room as Nebra continued to play with his cheeks. Taking her hand back there was tears on her hand, she starred at the softly before she kissed her hand lightly.
Feeling his heart tingle he moved his head forward to Nebra’s until he reached nose length, Nebra didn’t hesitate to move back but only moved a smudge closer.
“can I have kiss?”
“If you say the magic word” she said with a high laugh in her voice.
Thinking with every word on the top of his head.
“Please?” he pulled a slight smirk hoping to be right, not seeing any signs of rejection he tried to pull in but as Nebra placed a finger on his lips disappointment slapped him.
“Nope! You didn’t say that correctly.” She giggled to him in a low voice.
Zora moved his eyes to the chandelier above them and whispered to her. “Pwease.”
Back when they were told to perform Royal duties they visited an orphanage where this one kid would always ask for anything is he would use the word “pwease.” And whenever that would happen Zora would crack up laughing.
A small laugh came from her as she walked her fingers up his back to his nape. Wrapping her arms she pulled him in for a long passionate kiss. Never he had been so in love, sure he had his one night stands with other people but god, if he were to tell himself 2 years ago that he would of been in a full course relationship with a Royal he would of laughed his ass off, but now it all feels like a dream up to this moment.
Releasing him from her grip. He looked down on her to see her wearing his green shirt that Solid gave him for Christmas, he said he wouldn’t wear this shirt even if he was caught dead in it but if he were not to be caught he might use it as a night shirt.
“Is that my ugly green shirt Solid gave me?” He questioned leaning his hands over to her. He tried so hard to be intimidated but all she could do is pull an unsure smirk hoping to not break into laughter.
“What’s with the smirk, princess?”
“You being intimidating of course, I use to think you’re intimidating but looking at you now, Mr Big Boy~ I’m less sure these days.” When she called him “Mr Big Boy” her tone sounded more seductive. Zora felt as steam flew out of his ears. He couldn’t respond back as he was too flustered, situations like them he would retaliate but tonight he had fallen into her hands.
Nebra slowly sat up, still cradling her stomach, she swore her stomach had grown over the past 6 days, she’d had imagine what it would be like carrying a bag of flour up her stomach. Caressing her stomach another set of hands joined hers. “Wouldn’t you believe that our bundle of joy in there.” He spoke softly and that was rare to hear Zora speak softly, he would only speak softly when he was super serious about something.
“Do you mind turning on the lamp lights, honey.” Zora did what she told and straight away she notice the light reflecting off his bracelet.
“You know what I feel like what’s missing.”
She spoke quietly, causing Zora to lift up his head
“Wedding rings.” Mid-through sentence she slid her fingers into his.
“I promise you after this we’ll get married, soon enough just promise me my princess.” He kissed her knuckles.
Leaning back he did take notice of the squinting in her eyes, Zora completely remembered what was on her mind.
“Have your trashy grandparents and father asked about your pregnancy?” He wasn’t going to hold his punches against them, Nebra’s father might of has droplets of respect for him, but you knew darn well that her grandparents resented him very well. Even almost six months after they’re still mad at him for getting their granddaughter pregnant before marriage.
“Shitty Royals and their Jack-ass traditions.” Listening to his mind. They’ve put such pressure on her, even humiliating her at their royal gatherings.
She tilted her head and felt the swelling of tears about to flood in. “They sat me down, both of my grandparents excluding my father, in their living quarters and asked me some rather sensitive topics about the future of our baby.” She squeezed his hands tighter, the memories of screams flooded back to her as if it happened 10 minutes ago.
“Take your time baby.” He came up closer and pressed his forehead against hers.
They sat in the wondering silence for a good 5 minutes. Nebra pushed his shoulders back and bolted her pink hues to his blue hues. “The questions they asked made me wanna punch all my nerves. They asked if when the baby is birthed if I would leave the royal family, I knew from Haskell’s mother that they never asked her such questions, I might be taking a big leap but I think it was because the father is peasant. Next was the amount of mana that what the child might come to possess, I told them they had to wait and see. Third question was if we were going to get married and replied after the baby is born hopefully after their 1st birthday. “
She continued on what questions, Zora felt so horrified by these, what human beings can have such ruined souls. Asking about what blood type the baby might have, the wedding, the color of the baby’s hair, if the baby would be overweight or not. Such a horrible and personal questions to ask someone, he wouldn’t be darned if they were trying to put so much stress large enough to kill their baby.
The worse one of all was when Nebra’s grandmother started to scream at her when she asked if they want to hold the baby when it’s birthed. According to Nozel she found the question ‘invalid’ and ‘stupid’ thing to ask. Nebra missed dinner due to her crying all on the ballroom floor, thank God, Noelle had walk in and make sure to feed her and make sure for her to take a bath.
Zora couldn’t have prevented the situation from so far away. But he can prevent further situations like these to happen again. “I’ve decided that I’m going to take leave earlier than expected.”
“What? Zora please don’t do this.” The desperation in her voice was sure noticeable, she felt as tears were about to finally spill.
“Quit worrying about me And let me worry about you, you’re carrying the kingdoms future not me.” He caressed her stomach one more time before tracing his finger up her arms to her neck, then her chin, up to her cheeks where he kissed her one more time. That’s when Nebra spilt her tears and so did he.
As they broke off Nebra finally whispered to him. “There’s one more thing I want more than anything, even more than our baby, A lifetime with you.” Zora smiled at the response he couldn’t agree even more.
And thus a new beginning rose for them, a memory of them starting a family together.

Not sure how I feel about some of these. Probably cuz it’s 2 am. I should sleep... (disclaimer: I don’t own any characters from Naruto even if they own me!)
He Asks You Out
Naruto~
Three months had gone by and you and Naruto had quickly become best friends. He introduced and integrated you into his friend group and showed you around Konoha, and you kept him company and helped eat food other than ramen.
You spent a lot of your time at the blondes house, either just hanging out or making sure he didn’t starve or drink spoiled milk. Now was one of those times.
“Naruto, you had ramen for breakfast already! I’m not making any more!” He groaned, following you into the kitchen. “Then I’ll make it! It’ll only take five minutes!” You exhaled slowly. “Naru, you can’t live on ramen, it’s not healthy. I’m going to make you a balanced meal. You’ll love it okay?” He sighed. “Fineeee.”
You smiled. “Great! Would you make the tea real quick?” He gave you a mini salute already back to his chipper self. “So, what should do we do once dinner is ready?” Naruto asked you. A smirk appeared on your face. “Well, there’s this thing called face masks. They’re super relaxing and I just happen to have two on me!”
He gave you a sideways look. “What do they do?” You clapped gleefully. “It’s like a paste that you apply on your face, it feels really good. It also helps your skin!” He laughed. “Sasuke will be so jealous when my skin is better than his, believe it!” You laughed, agreeing.
Dinner was Yaki Udon, a simple meal with stir-fried noodles and beef, but it was one of your favorite things to make and you’d added a few things to it. “(Y/N), this is amazing! Almost as good as ramen, believe it!” Although it sounded like a backhanded compliment, you knew just how strongly Naruto felt about ramen. This was high praise.
“I’m glad you like it, Naruto! Now hurry so we can do face masks!” He pursed his lips, finishing his bowl. “What color are they?” You giggled at his skepticism. “They’re both pink.”
Naruto pouted the whole time. From the time you’d brought out the jar, to the first time it touched his face. “Oh, c’mon! Pink is a manly color, Naru!” He scowled. “I’ve never seen Sasuke wear it.” He muttered. I dawned a smug expression. “That just proves you’re manlier than him!” The blonde was silent, much to your confusion.
“What’s wrong?” Naruto flushed, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. “I was just thinking… how you always support me and take care of me. You keep me company even when I’m being an idiot… I really like you, (Y/N). C-can I take you out? Like on a date?”
Your hand fell away from his face. You had begun to catch feelings for your best friend, but you didn’t think he’d return them. You were practically on cloud nine!
“Naruto… that’d be amazing!” His expression was pure joy, no doubt reflecting yours. “But on one condition… you let me finish your mask!” “(Y/NN)!”
Sasuke~
You dodged a roundhouse kick to your temple by the skin of your teeth, grunting as you blocked a fist. You returned his attacks with a rapid flurry of punches, all being blocked, but that wasn’t your goal. You sent a spin kick towards him, but he caught your leg, tossing you away from him. You landed on your feet in a defensive position, panting slightly.
“Hn. You’re a bit slow today, are you okay, (Y/N)?” You scowled at Sasuke as he stood up from his stance. “I am not! I just didn’t get a lot of sleep last night.”
He gave you a look and put his kunai in his pocket. “You should’ve just said that. I wouldn’t have asked to spar.” Your face screamed indignation. “I’m fine! A little tiredness never killed anybody!” He gave you a questioning glance as he sat down on the grass. “Actually, I’m sure it has. Especially in battle.” You groaned, crossing your arms. “Smart alec.”
He smirked, tossing you a water bottle. “You want to spar that bad?” You shrugged. “Usually I’d go for more talented opponents but I guess you’ll do for now.” He chuckled. “So that’s why you could hardly keep up with me?” You threw the water bottle at him, scowling when he caught it. “Just fight me, Uchiha.”
You and Sasuke had meeting up for weeks now to train together and sometimes just hang out. Playful banter was a constant between you two but at the end of the day, you guys knew it was all in jest. You had caught your thoughts drifting back to your conversations with him to know that you were beginning to fall for him, but you kept it under wraps, there was no way you were going to turn into Sakura and Ino.
But you didn’t have time to dwell on your blossoming feelings, Sasuke was already charging you, kunai in hand. You pulled out your twin katanas and parried his every attack. It was almost like a dance between you two; both of you light on your feet and dodging every attempt while counterattacking. It went on for a while before those four fateful words left Sasuke’s mouth.
“Go out with me.” You didn’t know what to think. Was he serious? Did he even mean a date?! “We’re in the middle of a fight and that’s what you’re thinking of?” I saw his lips curve upwards as he blocked my swords. “Tch. I’m serious, (Y/N). You’re different from other girls… I like you.” Sasuke blushed, but you were sure your face was showing shades of red no one had ever witnessed before. “If we don’t accidentally kill ourselves because we’re distracted, I’d love to.”
“Would that mean it’s a bad time to tell me you kinda stabbed me in the side?”
Neji~
“Where are we going exactly, (Y/N)?” You smiled at Neji as you pulled him along behind you. “I went to this great little cafe and their tea is to die for! I had to take you!” He snorted, clearly amused. “The tea?” You laughed. “You’re always drinking tea, I thought you could use a little a variety!” He chuckled as you both walked through the door.
“I’m going to use the restroom real quick, will you be okay?” I nodded but pointed to the menu. “What do you want?” He handed you a few yen, that you didn’t plan on using. “Surprise me, this is supposed to be for variety right?” Then he was gone around the corner.
You shrugged to yourself as you walked up to the counter. “Hello, how can I help you today?” You smiled, pulling out your own money. “Hi, can I get a Berry Blend Açai Tea, please? Oh, and two dangos, as well!” In no time you had paid and received the sugary treats. They would bring you and Neji your tea.
“Well, well, well, what’s a pretty lady like you doing all on your own?” A man appeared in front of you, causing you to stop in your tracks. You looked behind you, unsure of who he was talking to. “Yes, you, sweet cheeks.” You scowled. “I’m not alone, now if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to sit down.” The man just laughed, not moving an inch. “Aw, don’t be like that. I don’t see anyone-”
You took a deep breath, but it didn’t work. You were still pissed. “Look, if you don’t move, I’ll be forced to move you.” He didn’t have a headband, so he wouldn’t be a challenge. He just stood there laughing at you. You set your dango on a nearby table, before kicking out his knee. When he bent down, yelling profanities, you grabbed his head and brought it down harshly onto your knee. He wouldn’t need his nose, right? “Why you little-!” You cut him off with a hand to his pressure point and he fell, unconscious before he hit the ground.
“(Y/N)?” By now you had a small audience, but you were only paying attention to Neji. “I was just coming over to tell him that I was with you… but it looks like you had everything under control. You laughed sheepishly. “Maybe we should get out things to go?”
Neji walked beside you, quietly sipping his tea, seemingly deep in thought. You knew it was best to let him think through whatever it was, so you ate your dango while you waited. “She really is perfect…” You heard him mumble to himself. You have him a strange look. “What?”
His cheeks were tinted pink, but he didn’t back down from your gaze. “I realized you were special from the moment I first met you, but… seeing you take that man down opened my eyes to how perfect you really are.”
Your heart fluttered at his words. Did Neji like you…? “I don’t want to lose you to anyone else, I was wondering if you’d like to… go out with me?” Your face broke out into a huge smile.
“Oh, Neji only you could see a girl fight someone twice her size and fall in love. Of course, I’ll go out with you.”
Shikamaru~
You and Shikamaru had agreed to meet up for lunch at a local sushi place for lunch at noon and you were so excited that you had ended up a little early. You didn’t mind though, you’d have a chance to survey the menu before you ordered.
However, you didn’t expect to see Shikamaru Lazy as Hell Nara already waiting on you. But what really shocked you was the cigarette dangling loosely from his lips. You walked up to him, hands in your pockets. “I didn’t know you smoked, Shika.” He took a long drag, a lazy smile playing at his lips.
“Do you want me to stop?” You shook your head as he blew out the smoke in the opposite direction of your face. “Nope. As you long as you know the dangers of smoking, I won’t mention it.” He smirked, throwing the topic of conversation down and squashing it with his heel. “No nagging?” I shook my head. “Doesn’t help. If you’re going to quit you need to do it for yourself, not cause someone bothered you about it.”
Shikamaru wrapped his arm around, in a rare show of affection, and led you inside. “You’re really something else, (Y/N).” You couldn’t help but eye the pack of cigarettes he clearly had in his pouch. You knew they were bad for you, but surely a few couldn’t hurt right?
“Tch, I’m not letting you smoke, so you can get rid of that idea.” Shika deadpanned. Your jaw dropped. “But I didn’t even say anything!” He just chuckled as you both took a seat at a booth back in the corner. “I know you, you were clearly staring at them and thinking about trying one.”
You groaned at how easy to read you were. Surely he was exaggerating and it was just a lucky guess. “Hello! I am to be your server today. What can I get you, sweetheart?” You gulped, more than a little uncomfortable with the way he was looking at you. “Oi! Are you serious? We’re clearly on a date! Stop eyeing her like a piece of meat and take our orders!” Shikamaru shouted, peeved. It was an unusual sight, you knew he was a laid back guy, he was more likely to brush things off.
“I apologize, I was ju-” Shikamaru held up a hand. “I’m not her keeper, apologize to her, she was clearly uncomfortable.” The waiter paled. “I’m really sorry, I don’t know what came over me.” You nodded once. “It’s okay…” Seemingly satisfied, Shikamaru grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the restaurant, obviously not caring for the service.
You couldn’t help but giggle at his annoyed expression. “So that was a date, Shika?” His face went from annoyed to embarrassed instantly, but he didn’t let that deter him. “I mean, it’d be a drag but I could ask you on a more official one.” You grinned, linking arms with him. “That’d be fabulous, but I’ll spare you the trouble, Mr. Lazy, and say that I’d be happy to go on a date with you.”
With a slight blush still adorning his cheeks, he moved his hand to wrap it around your waist. “Maybe you’re not as troublesome I thought.” You gave him a look. “Wanna bet?” He just sighed, but you didn’t miss his smile.
Kiba~
Shikamaru and Kiba had gone a few hours ago for a ‘boys night out’, leaving you alone with a plethora of movies and all the ice cream. Mr. and Mrs. Nara were already asleep and from their bedroom, you couldn’t hear the TV in Shika’s room. It was perfect.
You had decided on watching ‘The Boy In The Striped Pajamas’ after having heard it was good. It was a mistake. A huge mistake. You could handle movie horror, gore on missions, and real-life tragedy, but this was too much. The tale of two boys, oblivious to the horror show they lived in as they became friends, only to be killed in such a brutal fashion…
That’s how the boys found you, sobbing as you watched the kids enter the gas chamber. You felt like your heart was tearing apart. Maybe you shouldn’t have had so much coffee before. “Um… (Y/N), you okay there?” You turned to Kiba, sniffling. “No! They d-died!” Your wailing started back up again. Shikamaru groaned. “Troublesome woman, you know you’re not supposed to watch sad movies.” Kiba wrapped an arm around you. “Cut her some slack, Shikamaru. Everyone gets sad from time to time.”
Kiba gave you a small smile as he grabbed a tissue. “Here,” he gently wiped away your tears as he looked at the ice cream tub. “How much ice cream did you eat, (Y/N/N)?” You flushed. “More than I care to admit.” He laughed, throwing away the tissue. “Thank you, Kiba, I really appreciate you.” He gave you a grin and ruffled your hair.
“That’s what I’m here for. Now, let’s clean up the remainder of your sob fest.” You laughed tears forgotten, as you and Kiba cleaned up, while Shikamaru took out the movie from the DVD player. “Was the movie that bad?” Shikamaru asked skeptically.
“Yes. It was. You have to watch it sometime when I’m not around.” They both snickered. “We’ll have to just so we can see how dramatic you’re being.” I scoffed. “Sure, Kiba. But you’re going to eat your words when you start crying.” Shika sighed. “What a drag. You have a bad taste in movies.” I rolled my eyes. “Lies.”
Kiba crossed his arms. “If you let me take you out, I’d show you some good movies.” He mumbled under his breath. You did a double-take. “K-Kiba… what was that?” The rest of his cheeks matched his red stripes. “I said that if I could take you on a date, I’d show you a good movie.” A grin spread across your lips. “I think I’d like that… a lot.” Shikamaru looked between you two, alarmed.
“Wait, my two best friends?! I’ll always be a third wheel!”
Gaara~
You set down your book when you heard a soft rapping at your door. Puzzled at who it could be you walked to your door, opening it. You were pleasantly surprised to see Gaara standing on your front steps, a small smile adorning his face.
“Gaara! Come in, what are you doing here?” He stepped into your home, as you closed the door. “Well, I learned my first song and I wanted you to be the first to hear it.” You grinned following him to your piano.
“This is great! What is it?” He sat down beside you and flushed as he began. “The first thing I ever heard you play was the theme for Swan Lake, so I learned the finale to it…” His fingers danced as he played the song perfectly. It was the simplistic version, but you could tell he really practiced.
“Gaara, this is beautiful. You have a real talent for the piano.” His blush darkened as he finished. “Thank you. I couldn’t have done it without you. Truthfully, when I asked you to teach me, I just wanted to spend more time with you, but then I really did enjoy playing.” Your flush matched his. “R-really?” He nodded, uncharacteristically nervous. “Yes, but now I… want to see you outside of these lessons.”
You placed a hand over his, both of you wearing matching smiles. “Like a… date?” He nodded, shyly. “Yes, like a date.” You wrapped him in a hug. “That sounds amazing, Gaara.” He hugged you back, his head resting on your shoulder. Your door slammed open, scaring you both so bad you both fell off the piano bench.
“YES! We’ve been waiting for this moment!” Kankuro and Temari stood in your doorway fists raised in victory. You and Gaara just stared, too shocked to even be embarrassed. “Were you guys eavesdropping?” He asked, clearly not thrilled. He stood up before lending me a hand.
“We couldn’t help it!” The siblings whine simultaneously. “You guys are just too cute together! After all our planning, we just had to know what happened!” Temari cooed. You just covered your face, trying to hide your red face, but you were secretly flattered that Gaara had actually taken the time to plan. “Guys! This was supposed to be a private moment!” Gaara gave them a look.
“You heard her, bye guys, see you later!” With that, he shoved them out of your living room, slamming the door. “At least they’re happy for us?” You suggested, giggling.
Kakashi~
“Don’t be so stubborn, Kakashi-sensei! How hard could it be? You guys are so close, this next step is natural!” Your eyebrows furrowed as you saw Sakura and Ino talking to Kakashi. They were actually getting along?! You pushed down your shock, opting to listen to their conversation from your hidden spot in the tree.
“It’s not that simple, guys. (Y/N) and I haven’t been friends for that long, I’m pretty sure she would turn me down.” You perked up at hearing your name. What were they talking about? “Oh, c’mon! We see the way you look at each other, it’s clear you both like each other!” Ino exclaimed. Your face instantly heated up. Were you that obvious and oblivious? Did he actually like you? That would be a dream come true!
“I don’t know about that… I think it’d be best to wait a little longer before I do that.” Sakura rolled her eyes at his hesitance. “Sensei! There’s nothing to asking someone out, it’s so simple!” Ino complained impatiently. Kakashi crossed his arms. “Oh, is it? Then why hasn’t Sasuke gone out with either of you?” You covered your mouth at the utter brutality, trying not to laugh.
Sakura and Ino screamed incoherently at how that was a totally different story. “Look, Kakashi-sensei,” Sakura exhaled, “we’re just trying to help you. You of all people deserve to be happy and it’s obvious she makes you happy!” You smiled, seeing how she cared for her sensei.
“Sakura is right, said no one ever,” Ino whispered, “how do you know she doesn’t like you if you never ask? But, she’s my sensei! I see the way she smiles more when you’re around. She blushes like a schoolgirl for goodness sake!” Said blush was creeping up your neck as they ruthlessly exposed you.
“I know you girls are right, but how am I supposed to ask her?” Sakura gave him a dubious look. “You’re the one always reading those smutty romances, shouldn’t you know?” A small giggle slipped through your lips. You watched Kakashi smirk suddenly and you swooned. Swooned?! You mentally shook yourself, trying to control your emotions.
“I don’t think asking her will be a problem since she’s been listening to this whole conversation. Come on out, (Y/N).” You were pretty sure your heart dropped down to your feet. You gracefully jumped down from your tree, blushing about fifty shades of red.
“Um, h-hey guys! What’s up?” All three of them gave you flat, unamused looks “C’mon (Y/N)-sensei! What’s your answer?” Ino begged. Kakashi placed a hand on her head. “How about you let me ask her, hm?” Her cheeks went red. “O-oh, right!”
His focus turned back to you. “I know you heard everything, but I really do like you and I want to take you on a proper date.” Sakura rolled her eyes, snorting. “‘Proper’? Have to be on time for that.” Ino punched her, hissing at her to shut up.
You giggled at the pure chaos, but you knew you wouldn’t have it any other way. “I guess it’s good I really like you too. Let’s just hope it’ll just be the two of us!” Sakura and Ino laughed before realizing it wasn’t a joke. “Oh-oh…” Now it was you and Kakashi’s turn to laugh.
~Akatsuki~
Pein~
Even though Pein had seemed cruel and cold in the beginning, he had actually panned out to be a decent human being. Or God, in his not-so-humble opinion. It took six months for you to realize, but you had noticed. He made sure you had everything you needed, food, clothes, your own room… things you hadn’t had consistently in years. You couldn’t hide the fact that you had grown fond of him.
When he sent you on missions they were usually solo, seeing as no one had your stealth and sticky fingers. However, they were always manageable and you were always successful. You had just gotten back from your last mission, you had been sent to eavesdrop on Orochimaru’s meeting with some important what’s-his-name, and you were heading to his office to report back.
You knocked twice, knowing he didn’t like people just barging in. “Enter.” You opened the door, unsurprised to see the Akatsuki leader surrounded by paperwork. “Ah, you’re back sooner than I expected.” You handed him the scroll, filled with your findings. “It was a very to the point meeting, Leader-Sama.” He nodded, exchanging the scroll you gave him for another one.
Your eyebrows furrowed in question. “I know you just got back, but I have one last mission for you. It’s very simple, I have no doubt you’ll finish it before the night is over.” You sighed, at least it was quick.
“Yes, Leader-Sama.” Just as you turned, you heard the carrot head’s voice. “Oh, and (Y/N)? Tell no one of this mission, please. You leave in 30 minutes.” You nodded sharply. “Understood.”
~~~Time Skip Brought By You Stealing Kakuzu’s Money~~~
Your mission was almost too simple, in comparison to what you’d been tasked with before. All you had to do was make your way into a high-end restaurant Pein had gotten you a reservation for. Your goal was to find one of Orochimaru’s contacts and steal an important message he had.
You awkwardly smoothed out the red cocktail dress you had on and moved to look for the man the scroll had described. You didn’t see anyone, so you sat in a corner booth, content to wait. “Can I get you a drink to start you off?” Your attention snapped to the waiter, and you dawned a smile. “Um, I’ll just take a Sake, please.” He nodded, writing it down. “I’ll be right back with that.” He dashed away, revealing someone behind him.
You blinked rapidly trying to make sense of what you were seeing. “Leader-sama?!” You shout-whispered. “What’s going on?! Is something wrong?” He offered you a smile as he sat down across from you. “Not exactly. There was never a mission, I ju-” Anger surged within you.
“You mean to tell me, you brought me on a wild goose chase while I could’ve been sleeping?!”
The man had the nerve to sigh at you. “Just let me explain, okay?” You crossed your arms, waiting for him to explain.
“There is no mission because I wanted to take you out on a date.” You choked on absolutely nothing but your own disbelief. You had developed a soft spot for your leader, but… he wanted to take you on a date?
“Leader-sama-” “Pein,” He interrupted. You nodded slowly. “Pein… why didn’t you just ask me? Like a regular person.” He nodded at the waiter as he brought your drink. “Well, first, I’m a God, so I don’t do things like humans, and second, I didn’t know if you’d say yes.” You laughed a bit. “Well, Pein, that’s usually where asking the person comes in.”
His lips quirked upwards. “Well, we’re already here, aren’t we? We might as well enjoy the night.” You hid your grin (unsuccessfully).
“Yeah, yeah, I suppose. I am pretty hungry.”
Deidara~
Ever since your explosive art exhibit, you had been wondering what had happened to Deidara. It’d been a month since you’d seen him ad frankly, you missed him more than you’d care to admit. Maybe he hadn’t meant what he said?
You hadn’t been up to making ant new art lately and that wasn’t going to change any time soon. Instead, you resigning yourself to a self-pity nap. You’d been resorting to those a lot lately.
You heard your bed creak in the back of your mind, and because you were a light sleeper, you felt yourself begin to wake up. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to wake up, (Y/N), un.” You blinked for a solid twenty seconds, your tired mind not being able to compute what you were seeing.
Deidara sat next to you, on top of your covers, a half-smile on his face. But what was possibly even more astonishing was the fact that he was wearing an Akatsuki cloak. “Dei…? W-what’re you doing here?” You sat up, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes.
He sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. “I made you a promise, and I intended to keep it… even if it took me a little longer than I imagined, un.” You still couldn’t believe what you were seeing.
The sweet, charming artist you had come to love was a member of the Akatsuki. “Ah, I see you noticed my cloak, yeah. I figured it was wrong to keep it from you, un.” You just stared, totally stunned. His hand rested on your cheek, gently bringing your gaze up to meet his. “Please say something, (Y/N),” He whispered nervously. “I’m really glad you’re back, Deidara.” And it was the truth, him being an S-ranked criminal didn’t change that. You had no loyalties, no ties, and that gave you no reason to dislike his choices.
“You don’t hate me, un?” You placed your hand over the one that was still placed on your cheek. “The time we spent together, the person I got to know didn’t change in my eyes just because he has certain loyalties. You’re still the funny, wild, and charismatic Deidara I met a month ago.” His smile brightened up the whole room.
“Thank you for waiting for me, I didn’t have a chance to get away from our base, yeah.” You smiled. “It doesn’t matter why, you’re here with me now.” The two of you were silent for a moment before you both burst into laughter. “We sound so corny!” He snickered. You rested a hand on his shoulder to stay upright as your laughter shook your form. “I know right! But, I did mean everything I said, just pretend I phrased it cooler.” Deidara chuckled before his face turned serious.
“Me as well, especially when I say that I’m going to take you on the best date ever before I have to leave. I swear it, un.” You pulled him into a hug, resting your cheek in the crook of his neck. “How much longer do you have?”
His arms snaked around your torso. “Until the end of the night, yeah.” You pulled away, giving him a sly look. “Well, we’d better get going then, huh?”
Until the End of Times
Pairing: SasuSaku
Rating: K
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto and the characters.
Author’s note: This is not the long distance au, but I’ll post that one soon. This one is a random story that I thought of and I hope you guys like it! I apologize for typo errors and grammatical mistake.
There was something fascinating about Sakura Haruno. You might say it is because of her soft pink locks that reminds you of cherry blossoms, or maybe it is because of her vivid green eyes closely akin to a forest filled with greenery.  She is the human embodiment of spring, “The spring field of cherry blossoms” as others would say.
The spring sunshine to my dark life. After the harsh cold from winter, there comes spring that will bring warmth back.
No words can describe how breathtaking she is. If others were to describe Sakura Haruno, some might say she looks like a porcelain doll. While she may look like a porcelain doll, she was far from it. A porcelain doll is fragile, made out of glass that can break easily, can be destroyed into tiny pieces with little to no chance to be ever fixed again.
But Sakura, Sakura cannot break—she will not break. Of all the women I have met in my life, Sakura is the only woman I know that has a fire coursing through her body. A fire that slowly flickered into life, burning brighter and brighter as she grew into the woman she is now. Nothing can extinguish the fire burning in her body, nothing can take out the Will of Fire that will serve as her greatest weapon until the day she dies.
When I saw her again, I was in a loss of words to how much she has changed. From the small, innocent girl that I left behind on the stone-cold bench, to a woman hardened through the years with strength and determination inside those green eyes. During that time, I was in disbelief. I questioned myself if I was staring at the same girl who cried endlessly when I left the village.
Sakura, how much you grew. Yet behind those chakra filled punches, you were the same innocent girl back in our genin days. Even as years passed, you are still kind, caring, and selfless. The hands that can cause destruction are the same hands that can give life. Those hands were once soft and smooth, but now, they had become rough due to your job as a medic-nin and I am so proud of you. No wonder everyone admires you, you gave them their second chance to live again by saving them from the brink of death.
Her smile alone can make anyone let their guard down. Just remember to stay in her good side or else she'll punch you meters away from her. She might sound perfect, but like any normal human being, Sakura has her own flaws.
Sakura was easily angered, her temper getting the best of her in some situations. But that's normal, isn't it? A person's emotions can make them do stupid things, say things that they'll regret later on, or even cause them their own downfall. Sakura Haruno is one of the few people I know that is easily stirred up by her emotions, and it caused her to regret some things she shouldn't have done. But that's part of her, that's the human side of her.
Everything about her is... amazing. Sakura Haruno is fascinating. You might say it is because of her appearance, or maybe it is because of her strength, or it could also be because of her ability to heal. All of this is true. She is fascinating because of all of this. For you, maybe.
But for me, Sasuke Uchiha, she is fascinating because she is Sakura Haruno.
As I stared at her sleeping form, I'm still in awe towards her. I lifted my hand to remove a few stray hairs away from her face which caused her to stir a bit before falling in a deep slumber once again. I resisted the urge to let out a chuckle, afraid she might wake up. I gently stroke her cheek with my knuckles, humming a lullaby she often sings when caring for a child. Even without the use of the Sharingan, I could see her lips lifting up a bit.
My journey to discover the world with a new perspective became a lot more exciting when Sakura decided to come along. Wherever you go, with Sakura by your side, everyday will be exciting. Her aura alone can make you feel at peace, to remind you that you are never truly alone and she will be right by your side.
During our journey, she never fails to bring joy towards others when we came across a village. She would not hesitate to help when they are in need or in danger. Because wherever she goes, her kindness will leave a mark. Watching her from the corner of my eyes, I would always see the sparkle in her eyes when others thank her for her generosity and I would get lost in it until she directs her attention towards me.
With her, I'm not afraid to let my guard down. I'm not afraid to show my weaknesses and my vulnerable state. Right now, with her by my side I feel like nothing is impossible. After being free from the Curse of Hatred, I thought I didn't deserve Sakura and Naruto's forgiveness. I caused them too much pain, especially to Sakura. When she healed me and avoided my gaze, I thought to myself that she hated every fiber of my being. That didn't stopped me from apologizing to her, to everything I have done to her up until then.
I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders when she forgave me. I couldn’t stop the smile surfacing on my face while staring at her with tears in her eyes. At that moment, I was able to feel genuine happiness once again.
With her asleep by my side, I feel contented. Like she was the final piece to complete the puzzle I couldn't finish throughout the years. And with that puzzle done, a new one awaits in the corner of the room. Unlike the last puzzle that I completed on my own, Sakura and I would complete the next puzzle together. The first piece has already been placed, because tomorrow she'll no longer be Sakura Haruno.
Tomorrow, she will be Sakura Uchiha—my wife.
This woman sleeping besides me right now will be my wife.
Sakura, I made a lot of mistakes in the past. I hurt you so much, made you cry again and again that it made me doubt if I deserve you to be here right now. But your love for me never wavered and I'm deeply sorry that it caused you so much pain to love a guy like me.
I leaned my face towards her and pressed my lips on her forehead.
Sakura, you never fail to fascinate me. You never fail to take my breath away. You have proven to me time and time again how much you grew. You have proven to everyone that you are a force to be reckoned with.
I let out a tiny smile and settled myself besides her, wrapping my arm around her waist. For the longest time, I could finally sleep without worrying that my nightmares will wake me up. Because even in her slumber, she has a certain glow that can light up the whole room. I’m no longer in the dark because of her and the rest of Team 7.
Sakura, I love you and I'll always do until the end of times.
Please leave a like and comment if you enjoyed the story ❤
Title: Haru no Tani (A Valley of Haruno) Fandom: Naruto Genre: Family Characters: Haruno Sakura Triggers(s): – Rating: G Additional Tags: AU Summary: Where the Haruno Clan does have a kekkei genkai, except it's a useless one and everyone forgets it exists, until it becomes relevant.
AO3
Sakura had grown up with lessons that she was a Haruno, Harunos are the trees and the earth and that Harunos never married out.
Contrary to Konoha’s belief, the Harunos did have a kekkai genkai. It just wasn’t useful in battle and in the days of the old, the Harunos were revered. They fertilized the earth when they died, blooming into pastures and trees, orchards heavy with fruits. Vegetation that would continue to bloom and grow decades even after their deaths.
Now with the event of chakra and jutsu, the need and reverence for a person’s death had been significantly diminished.  Why feed and wait for a person to age and die when you could pay a shinobi to do the same regularly?
So the Harunos adapted.
Instead, they bought a large plot of land and when they died, they would plant their bodies there, fertilizing the land and selling fruits and vegetables from it.
The Harunos became simple merchants.
The day Sakura insisted on becoming a shinobi, was the day she had a tattoo inked onto the small of her back.
History had largely forgotten them and the Harunos wanted it to stay it that way. As long as no one released her seal, she would not turn into earth when she died. That was their own requirement.
Of course, all that changed when the Chuunin Exams happened.
It was assumed that the Harunos had been forgotten. The Suna clearly did not.
✥.✥.✥
“Let go off the boy,” Sakura growls at the strange kabuki painted boy.
“Ha— Haruno?!” the boy splutters.
“I apologise on my brother’s behalf if the kid was one of yours Haruno-sama,” the blonde girl with twin pigtails says nervously. “Kankuro!” she hisses at her brother and he quickly sets Konohamaru onto the floor.
“So— so sorry for this!” Kankuro stammers, bowing as his sister drags him away.
“I didn’t know you were a big shot,” Sasuke says when the two siblings vanish from sight.
“Ah—”
I didn’t know either, was what Sakura really wanted to say. Also, she would definitely need to report this to the clan elders.
✥.✥.✥
In retrospect, as a shinobi, Sakura should have planned for eventualities where she would be interesting to other shinobis.
Sakura’s a Haruno. Harunos are considered civilian in the fire country region. There is literally no one who would kidnap them for any reason — maybe except for that merchant clan in Iron.
So when she found herself on the back of a Suna shinobi, Sakura is completely embarrassed by her first reactions. She did not act like a genin or even as shinobi in training.
She had, instead, screamed “Pervert!”
Sakura states several times in her report later, that it had been a reaction to someone grabbing her butt and legs. Kakashi-sensei later ups her evasion training.
Kakashi-sensei is also confused why a Suna-nin would attempt to kidnap his civilian student. Neither Kakashi nor Sakura realises until much later when Gaara becomes the Kazekage that Harunos are a legend there, thought to have died out in the warring era.
The Harunos are worshipped in Suna.
✥.✥.✥
“Why are you worshipped?” Shikamaru asks Sakura months after Temari had revealed the Haruno religion in Suna. ‘You’re civilians,’ he doesn’t say. He can’t figure out why and neither Temari nor Kankuro would say why.
“Would you like to see why?” Sakura says as she moves her gold general across the board.
He nods and counters her move. “Tsumi.”
Sakura had been lasting longer against him. With more practice, she might even become as good as a Nara.
“Next week, Thursday. Wear something formal and come over at four pm. Don’t be late.”
The requirement of wearing something formal is ominous enough to rope Ino into joining him. Shikamaru knows with the right buttons, Ino would be curious enough and he is right.
“What kind of situation would we even need formalwear anyway?” Ino grumbles the entire way to the Haruno compound.
They arrive precisely at four on Thursday. Both dressed in their formal black kimonos. Sakura definitely not wearing formal black kimono, instead she, her aunt and probably nephew are all wearing bright red qipao.
Sakura rises from her seiza, giving them a formal bow as the little boy ushers them in, fetching their geta and offering guest slippers.
“Nara Shikamaru, heir to the Nara Clan, Yamanaka Ino, heir to the Yamanaka Clan, Haruno Sakura, heir to the Haruno Clan greets you. You are welcomed here,” Sakura greets.
They stiffen. Shikamaru had never known Sakura was a clan heir. It’s likely because the Harunos were… are… civilians?
Shikamaru is actually not sure anymore. There has to be a reason why a whole village would worship them and attempt to negotiate the Harunos setting up a branch in Suna during the diplomatic meetings.
“What is going on?” Ino hisses to Sakura when they are alone in the hallway.
“Shikamaru asked to see why we’re worshipped. It so happens that there’s a funeral today.”
What has a funeral have to do with being worshipped?
“A funeral? I didn’t ask to go to a funeral.” Ino eyes Sakura’s bright red qipao then glances at the other Haruno’s funeral red qiapo.
Ino is tactful enough to not ask why anyone would wear red to a funeral, instead follows Sakura silently down the hallways.
“Please do not make a sound and fidget during the service,” Sakura whispers when they reach the door to the courtyard.
Ino scoffs. “We’re clan heirs. Of course, we know not to.”
Motioning to another little boy, Sakura pushes the boy forward. “This is Hibino. If you need anything, you can ask him. These two are Nara Shikamaru, heir to the Nara Clan, Yamanaka Ino, heir to the Yamanaka Clan. Take care of them, Hibino-kun.”
The pink haired boy grumbles under his breath but plasters a service smile. “Haruno Hibino, second in line at your service.”
Sakura’s words are oddly specific that Shikamaru wonders if he’s overthinking it.
Hibino shows them to seats on the engawa. “When the procession starts, you can follow behind me. Please remain silent.”
“We’re clan heirs too,” Ino mutters indignantly.
Shikamaru can’t help but feel a shudder. Likely because the sun is setting. Not because of the shadows in the forest, or how wild the Haruno forest looks.
The Nara forest has all these too.
Sakura is upfront next to a woman wearing white at the end of the pathway. The Harunos stand along the path, holding up tiny lamps. A man wearing white carries an old woman, with blanket folded around her, in his arms steps onto the path.
There is no sound. Not even the sound of the birds roosting as the sun sets. Not even the sound of the leaves.
The man takes the lead, followed the Sakura and the woman in white, Shikamaru and Ino are near the last to follow.
The forest is dim enough that Shikamaru has to circulate chakra in his eyes to see the path before him and he wonders how the other Harunos don’t seem to have a problem. They walk far into the forest, until they hit a clearing when the man places the old woman in the middle. Sakura bites her forefinger and crouches next to the old woman, drawing symbols on the woman’s face.
“Bloom,” the woman in white says.
“Bloom,” the Harunos chorus.
“Into the Spring coursing through our veins.”
Sakura stands next to the woman in white, just over the old woman.
“Grow,” the woman in white says.
“Grow!” the Haruno chorus, this time louder.
“Into the fruits and trees that we partake.” The woman in white holds her arms up and the Harunos roar as Sakura presses her hands into a tiger seal. The blood on the old woman glows briefly.
“FLY!” They scream.
There’s a heavy silence, a pause that Shikamaru idly muses if he had just witnessed a sacrificial rite. Then a shuddering, an explosion of branches and leaves, trees and earth exploding from the old woman around them.
Ino claps her hands over her mouth, muffling her shriek.
The clearing turns into an overgrown forest, the dirt becomes grass, the sprouts become the trees, the trees grow fruits and dip their branches.
All in a span of minutes.
Almost like watching Yamato using mokuton, except these are civilians, people that shouldn’t have a kekkai genkai.  What is a civilian clan with a kekkai genkai called? Is a civilian with kekkai genkai even a civilian?
Shikamaru watches all these and realises with horrifying clarity that even in the shinobi world, a clan with the ability to sprout fruits and trees in a matter of minutes is irreplaceable.
How has no one wondered how the Haruno sells fruits even in the dead of winter?
Shikamaru goes home with more questions than answers.
✥.✥.✥
Sakura punches the clones into submission. How dare this Pein person attack Konoha. She punches the puppet through the wall but it still gets up.
It’s likely that she will die today, Sakura realises. Thank the sage for the seal her clan head had forced onto her when she insisted on becoming a shinobi. At least she won’t accidentally turn land into a forest when she dies, or at least not without another Haruno’s chakra.
Then a meteor crashes into Konoha.
Sakura holds onto her conscious long enough to see the broken buildings transform into a valley of Sakura trees and thinks that soon she’ll join them.
Except she doesn’t die. Not permanently that is.
Sakura wakes up to a crater of what was once Konoha but now trees and to the knowledge that Pein had resurrected all the people who died in his attack, except the Harunos. Not the Harunos, because they had a kekkai genkai that activated when they die, converting them bodies into earth.
If there was no body, there is no way Pein could have converted them back.
Sakura becomes the last Haruno, the only person in a village full of people that day, to shed tears of sorrow instead of tears of relief and joy.
pairing: jaehyun x fem!reader genre: fluff a/n: another scenario for you all yay! excuse the grammar if there are sore ones down there.😂 ideas pop up to me at midnight and i probably wrote this with half-lidded eyes/sleepy self lol this is a prequel to this! 😊 enjoy reading! ~j.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
you twirled several times in your new dress, admiring the style and design you recently bought from your savings. it was your favourite outfit. especially today when it was summer; your floral yellow smocked bandeau mini dress shaped your body. gladly your best friend gifted you a new curler and because of that, you tried your best to doll up for today’s occasion. and as much as possible, you kept your makeup natural.
the mirror in front of you revealed your husband jaehyun, eyeing you from head to toe as a smile crept his lips. he rubbed the nape of his neck in surprise that no matter how he looked at you, he always told himself that he chose the right one for him. “wow..”
your lips curve to a smile from ear to ear. “so.. how do i look?” you swayed as you held the hems of your dress, tiptoeing on your wedged heels with fresh white manicure. on every new outfit you wore on dates with jaehyun, you felt like a princess. and this time, you got married, queen was the definite and suitable word now.
“do you want my honest opinion, love?” his hands snaking to hug your waist where he rested his chin onto your shoulder. jaehyun looked at your side profile for a while before looking back at the mirror, in awe that his wife was his world now.
you giggled at his reflection, his ears turning from pink to beetroot red. “i think you’ve said it already.” you kissed his cheek. a scoff from him made you laugh so hard, he chuckled at your reaction.
“damn, i can’t really hide them, can i?” he kissed you back and let his fingers inter-locking with yours. “c’mon, we’ll be late.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
the drive to the beach was a long one, but since jaehyun was with you, it was ever so often that car karaokes were the norm. it became daily. he called it ‘car’aokes instead, and you sighed at the corny bad pun. yet despite his failed attempt on bad jokes, his voice was so soothing you secretly could not help yourself to record his vocals while he was immersed into the songs he played. today though was quite different. jaehyun wanted to enjoy the drive with a track from chet baker.
you brought out your sunglasses and fixed it onto the bridge of your nose. “love, here.” you handed his pair between your fingers and he took to wear it.
“the vibe’s great.” he turned to the next street. “sun’s out and i’m with you. this is the life.” you hiccuped at the sudden cheesiness, feeling his hand onto yours as you hummed in response. “‘everything happens to me’ is great.” he smiled, referring to the title song track.
at the corners of your eye, you spotted the crystal blue of the sea with white sand in contrast. you sat up properly that it caught jaehyun’s attention. “gosh i love the view!” you squealed as if you’ve seen it for the first time. you loved beaches, which was why for your honeymoon just a month before, you and jaehyun went to the maldives. heck you wished you never left.
“i love this view better.” he said under his breath as he smiled, but you couldn’t hear it since you excitedly vlogged the scenery. minutes later you both arrived at the car park just by the beach. jaehyun unbuckled his seat belt and grab the essentials. just by the outdoor hut and public toilets, he noticed how men would eye you differently. and because of these kinds of indicidents, he became protective. you felt him pulling your body closer to him. “stay close to me, y/n.”
you sensed what he meant and you assured him that everything will be fine. “aren’t we close already?” you teased as you both walked to the party.
“closer is better.”
upon arriving to the beach, johnny and your best friend min-ju welcomed you both. their one year old son youngmin, immediately ran to you with his wobbly legs and squeaky shoes; it was a gift jaehyun chose for his first birthday.
“hey buddy!” you bent down, later carrying him in your arms. “i heard you’ll be a big brother soon! oh min-ju he looks just like you.” the compliment made her blush. she then brought you to the nearby restaurant where the others had been.
jaehyun had his hands in his pockets, smiling to himself at the sight of you as he followed you from behind. johnny nudged him, making the lad blush. “so how was the honeymoon?” he wrapped his arm around his shoulders, attempting a head rub.
“it was great. could’ve stayed there longer but i had to work with the team right after-”
“will youngmin expect a best friend in a few months?” johnny’s grin crept his lips and for sure he wanted to see his best bud’s reaction.
“oh my go- dude!” jaehyun attempted a punch but was stopped by taeyong, yuta and taeil.
“what did we miss?” taeil asked the younger ones. curiosity grew in him when he spotted jaehyun’s red ears. “yep, i think i got what you mean.”
the party began shortly after lunch. at one table, there were two buckets of blue and pink, and post-its beside them. variety of foods were placed nearly onto the tables. you stood beside jaehyun, who wrote his guess onto the squared paper as you poked his cheek. “i think it’s a boy.” you said.
“my guess is a girl.” jaehyun held your waist, walking to the rest of the group. there was a short video tribute, of how johnny’s family had started; from the proposal to the birth of youngmin. games were played too, and it somehow ended up becoming a bet of who will have their next child. now, johnny and min-ju stood at the front with youngmin as they lead everyone out to the beach. the baby’s gender was about to be revealed.
phones and cameras were up already to record the moment. johnny had his baseball bat ready and min-ju threw the ball. blue powder scattered the air and you hopped in joy, cupping your mouth for a louder volume. jaehyun found that trait of yours cute and imagined the time when you both become parents some day in the future.
his friends approached him and johnny soon followed. “congrats johnny!” mark shook the older’s one hand. behind the dimpled man, little did jaehyun know that his friends planned to tease him again and obviously it was johnny’s idea.
yuta nudged jaehyun, trying to point out how his wife and you, were conversing by the hammock. “looks like they’re having a good time.”
“y/n, how was maldives?” sakura sat beside you, handing you fresh orange juice and cookies.
“tell me about it. i’d want to live there forever. it’s all stress free.” you munched onto the cookies as you told her how the place truly felt like paradise.
sakura giggled at your hungry self. she noticed how much of a foodie you were today and leaned in to whisper. “you can’t be.. uh pregnant right?”
you bursted out a laugh with cheeks that made you look like a hamster. automatically your hands waved in the air. you held your dress and made your stomach shape visible through the fabric. “it’s a food belly though.” you tapped onto it.
jaehyun choked on his drink when the droplets slid down his lips. quickly he put down the glass he was holding as he watched you giggle with sakura. smirking at the scene, yuta saw the lad with a teasing mind. “it’s probably a sign, jae.” he said, making him cough.
*cough* “it can’t be that fas-” he trailed off, later realising how he slipped. “ah! it’s not what you-”
“so youngmin will actually be expecting a best friend in the months coming.” johnny interrupted, overhearing the conversation. “great i’ll tell him!”
“uh wait we haven’t really plan-” jaehyun stumbled his words, panicking that how to reply.
squeals and laughters from children stopped the men from teasing jaehyun. they looked over to where you were, surrounded with children who thought you had a life inside you by tapping your belly. your flustered state caused you to fan yourself from the heat. whether it was from the temperature or the reaction towards the children, heat still crawled your body.
you carried youngmin in your arms and he pointed at your stomach. jaehyun rubbed the nape of his neck; a lost for words. he really wanted to have a family with you, be a father to your kids and watch each other grow as parent.
his tinted ears caught the attention of his friends. “is y/n really pregnant?” taeyong asked.
“babies are crowding over her.” taeil took a sip from his drink.
“she’s loved by everyone because she’s a teacher. i’m guessing it’s instinct for children to know if a person loves children.” jaehyun looked at you.
“well, i’m sure she’ll be a great mom.” taeil said, noticing how jaehyun held his chest that was probably hammering quick.
the party was ending and you later stood beside jaehyun, his hands rubbing circles at your back. his lips took your attention where teeth marks were seen. whenever he would bite his lips, it only meant that either he was thinking too much, or that he was stressed. he felt fingers brushed onto them made jaehyun turn to you. “hm?” he hummed.
“are you okay?” you asked with worry in your eyes. he didn’t respond, but his large palms pulled you to rest on his chest for a hug. “well if you are, i think we should be heading home.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
you had already fastened your seatbelt. jaehyun soon opened the door, typing away on his phone as he waited for the air conditioning to settle down. his brows furrowed onto the luminated screen.
[22:54] john suh: “u might want 2 buy a pregnancy tester. :p”
[22:55] john suh: “there’s a possibility ;D”
[22:56] jae jung: “we’ll do that if symptoms comes, johnny. lol take care on ur way home. see you at the office in 2 days. :p”
“love?” he shot up at your voice and grabbed your hand.
“yes?” he asked and you pointed at the back.
“they’re flickering headlights?” you giggled and jaehyun embarrassedly stepped on the gear with his faint dimples.
whilst on the way, jaehyun decided to stop by the convenient store before heading home. he opened the roof for fresh air and to stargaze. he thought that a little night snack wouldn’t hurt, so when he saw you entering the car with a bagful of snacks, all he could do was to hide his reaction from you. you sat comfortably with your legs rested onto the dashboard, munching away your favourite sushi roll and chips. he saw your slowly-hyped up self, dancing to nothing but the sound crunches your mouth made as you created your own song out of pure happiness.
when you danced, he then remembered the children back at the party. his eyes took a quick glance towards your belly and did notice a belly. his loud gulp caused you to turn at him. “okay, what’s up with you?” you giggled. “you’re all so tensed right now.”
“uhm n-nothing.” jaehyun said as his fingers gripped so tightly onto the stirring wheel.
you eyed him with a smirk, and a short stare-off happened. “are you sure love?”
“of course!” he attempted a smile but gulped unknowingly.
“uh-huh. i recognise that kind of gulp.” you popped another piece into your mouth.
jaehyun inhaled deeply enough that his lungs were running out of oxygen. all kinds of ideas came flooding his mind. did you know what he was thinking as you looked at him? he anticipated for the answer and the silence was killing him. maybe you overheard his conversation with the guys? of the possibility that you might be-
“you’re hungry too, aren’t you?” you laughed so loud that jaehyun did the same. “you could’ve just gotten a pack for yourself!”
“what?” a dumbfounded jaehyun asked with his mouth slightly open. “oh gosh..”
“look i even got your favourites!” you fumbled the insides of the paper bag. “see!”
jaehyun pursed his lips, grabbing a red handkerchief from his pockets to wipe the sweat rolling down his temples. as he finished doing so, a piece of chip appeared before him. “y/n my love. you are so cute.” he said with his ears dusted with pink shade.
“it’s my dress that makes me feel cute.” you singsonged.
“no i mean i find you really cute when you’re hungry all the time. you’ve had cravings here and there. sometimes it’s out of the blue too. the guys even joked about it but i just can’t help thinking that you might be-” he felt you kiss his cheek as he said his feelings in one breath. you smiled at him lovingly, and you found your hands interlocking with his.
“the guys could be right though.” you spoke in a soft voice. jaehyun had his hopes high earlier with his friends, but right now the assumption was confusing. “but they could be wrong too. jae, we’ve been wanting to start a family. i know that completely. we even talked about this back in college and i really can’t wait for that time to come when there’s mini you’s and me’s. we have to wait for the right time.“ you said as you caressed his cheeks.
“okay.” he finally smiled. “i guess i just got excited at the thought of it. because the hyungs have their own children and i’m kinda lacking behind.”
“it’s never a race to start a fambam! it’s a process that needs effort and dedication.” you said. “and for the record, mark’s still single so you’re way a step ahead.”
“but you just said it’s not a race.” jaehyun chuckled.
“did you know mark actually planned to pursue me back in high school?” you teased jaehyun again. his smile slowly disappears on every word. “but you were better at scoring the jackpot so yeah.” you gestured yourself.
jaehyun’s face cringed at your self compliment. yet he wouldn’t say he didn’t like it. “that’s because you’re really cute, hot nerd.”
“nah you’re star player who caught my eye, hot coach.” you felt your neck being pulled closer. he looked at your lips and tilted his chin slightly for a kiss.
there were only two things; the signs earlier could be wrong or that it was going to happen soon. jaehyun knew anyway, that you both were to be parents later in the future.
⏱ If you'd like to!
Kakashi wasn’t sure what exactly had happened. One moment he was in the training field with his little team of evil gremlins, the next he found himself opening his eyes to a very familiar head of pink hair.
Except the person with the pink hair was diffrent. She still had the same bright green eyes, that smile that hid 1000 deadly punches and way too much joy for qny sane shinobi to have, but she was older.
Much Older.
“Sakura!?” He bolted up in his spot, examining the woman beside him as she sat back on hear legs to give him some space “what...when...” he glanced around the area, trying to figure out what exactly had happened.
“it seems you took a nap in the wrong place, Lord Sixth,” He did his best to ignore the honourary. There was already too much to unpack in this situation “I was just about to use the training field with my team when we found you.”
“Your...Team?” Kakashi’s eyes scanned over to the three students standright right behind Sakura. One of them had broght silver hair that matched his and bushy eyebrows that could only come from zgai. Another one looked like a very interesting mox of Asuma’s body and skin tone, with Kurenai’s deadly red eyes.
“Yes. Today we’re going to work on Chakra control a bit more, not that any of them need much training in that area,” Sakura glanced back at her students with a soft smile “but you seem a little out of it, Lord Sixth.” a hand came down on his forehead, nudging his headband up out of the way so she could check his temperature properly “hmmm, you don’t seem sick...”
Sick... He had to be sock. Hallucinating most likely.
There was no other way he could explain the situation he currently found himself in.
Gravitation
Sumary: Canon divergence! Gennin fic! Sakura shares the joys of her mom’s pregnancy with her team, Sasuke unconsciously invests himself too much.
Rating: K+
Characters: Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki, Mebuki Haruno, Kakashi Hatake.
Relationships: Sasuke Uchiha/Sakura Haruno, Mebuki Haruno/Kizashi Haruno
For the Sasusaku day 12: Gravitation
Sakura is prone to giving them surprises.
She’s not a mysterious girl with a dark past and the death of her loved ones behind her like Sasuke and Kakashi, and she’s definitely not, Lady Luck’s favourite person with a knack for saving everyone in the last single minute like Naruto.
But she comes from a different world than her boys, moves in different circles. She’s all sincere smiles and infinite love to give, she’s also all girl defiance and anger controlled in the little space that is her tiny body.
Naruto still remembers the Saint Valentine’s day she rejected him because she had a date with Ino. Apparently girls did that. They went hand in hand to the market, gifted each other flowers and fed each other ice cream by hand without worrying if it looked weird to the rest of the world.
“Valentine’s day is also Galentine’s day,” she told them the next day after scolding both: Naruto and Sasuke for spying on her date with her best friend. “We girls like to go out from time to time. You know?”
And that was that.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Sasuke still can remember the day she cried during a sparring to trick him into loosing a Taijutsu-only training.
It was uncanny in the first place that Kakashi decided to put Sasuke against Sakura in a fight, but it was definitely weirder for Sakura to take any form of physical contact with Sasuke in a serious manner.
Therefore, when Sakura broke out crying after a well placed punch to her face, Sasuke reacted almost instinctively and approached her with his guard lowered to assess her wounds.
She, then proceeded to punch him so hard in the middle of his face that he went flying a few meters and got his nose broken. Kakashi declared her the winner.
“They taught us how to use men’s weakness for girls as an advantage in Kunoichi training.” She told him matter-of-factly after training. “You can’t lower your guard around me just because I’m a girl, Sasuke-kun.” Instructed the Kunoichi.
“And what are we supposed to do against girls, Sakura-Chan?” Asked Naruto, curious as ever by anything that had to do with the female gender.
“I don’t know…” She stressed. “What did they taught you?” Sasuke doesn’t remember any teacher schooling him about best friends and loved ones using his care for them against him.
Maybe they should have.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Sakura has proven time and time again to be quite the anomaly for them.
Hence, when Sakura gives them three cherry scented little pink cards decorated with a blue ribbon and the words ~ Please Joins Us to Celebrate! ~ In bold, golden letters.
They’re obviously surprised but maybe, not so much.
“What is this, Sakura-Chan?” Asks Kakashi with a fake smile lightening his one squinted eye.
“My mom is pregnant and already passed her third trimester!” She annunciates with the happiest grin they’ve ever seen on her. “So we are throwing a baby shower to celebrate.”
“A baby shower?” Asks Naruto confused.
Sasuke is equally confused, he’s only accustomed to celebrate a baby after they are already born. But it was rare for him to be able to celebrate with the mothers of his clan when they were alive and now is even odder.
“Yes! It’s foreign custom.” She explains “we throw a party to celebrate and cheer up the mother, we play games and give her gifts. We are also supposed to know the baby’s gender in the party but mom doesn’t want to know until the she gives birth…”
“Ah! But Sakura-Chan! We don’t have any gifts!” Exclaims the Jinchuriki agitated.
“Don’t worry, you don’t have to bring anything.” Smiles Sakura, “and if you don’t want to come bare handed then you can adhere yourself to my gift, the party is in a week anyway and I haven’t bought anything yet…”
“Then we can buy her ramen!”
In a strange act of unprompted violence Sasuke hits him right on the middle of his head “She can’t be eating that crap, idiot!” growls Sasuke “It can hurt the baby!”
“But what can we buy it!” Cries Naruto, holdings his head in pain “We don’t even know if it’s a boy or a girl!”
“It doesn’t matter, Naruto. Mom and dad hate gender stereotypes, besides” explains Sakura “I wear red even though I’m a girl and everyone on Ino’s team wears an earring, also Sasuke-kun wears purple sometimes,” exemplifies the pinkette looking directly at her crush, “No one knows about weapons more than TenTen-san and Neji-San has the prettiest hair in the whole village.”
“So that means…” Tries Naruto.
“It means gender equality or death, Naruto.” She smiles creepily “Now, are you going to accompany me to buy my mom a present or not?”
“I will,” volunteers Sasuke hiding his blush under the high collar of his shirt.
“Then Naruto and I will be buying her another gift” smirks Kakashi, directing a conspiratorial look towards Sasuke who in turn, glares at his teacher. Kakashi then hoists Naruto by the collar of his track jacket and takes him away against all of Naruto’s complains.
They spend the whole afternoon in the market after her announcement, it’s the longest time they’ve ever spent together alone outside of training or missions and Sakura doesn’t even squeal or blush one single time.
It’s actually really fun.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
After the baby shower Sasuke starts to gravitate towards her house.
The first time it happens Sakura thinks it’s cute and a noble gesture coming for a normally aloof Sasuke.
She comes back home from a date with Hinata and TenTen when the sight of Sasuke stocking her mom’s shopping bags in the kitchen takes her by surprise.
“Hello, Sasuke-kun!” Sakura blushes red up to her ears and squirms under his cold gaze. “I didn’t know you were coming over.”
“Oh, Sakura-Chan!” Welcomes Mebuki “your cute little teammate found me on the market and insisted on helping me home” Relates the pregnant woman holding her own cheek, smiling wide while recalling her encounter with Sasuke “I was about to invite him over for dinner so why…”
“I have to go.” Interrupts her the prodigy “Take care, Haruno-San” He bows to the older woman, uncharacteristically polite “bye, Sakura.”
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The next time he actually invites himself over for dinner when Sakura comments on his father having to go away for the weekend.
“But he’ll come back by Monday.” Explains Sakura “So mom and will make do until then.”
Sasuke waits until they finish every mission for the day to talk to her, he doesn’t want Naruto or Kakashi to hear him and think they’re invited too “I will accompany you to your house today” he says in a serious tone of voice, “it’s not good for you and your mom to be alone.”
Sakura of course accepts his offer, even when Sasuke didn’t ask her anything.
In a weird turn of events Sasuke cooks them a healthy dinner and prepares green juice for her mom.
“The women of the clan used to gather around our house and talk about pregnancy and babies when anyone of them got pregnant.” He explains late at night when Sakura’s mom goes to sleep and leaves them to clean the table. “Father didn’t like us boys to share those moments because it was for the women, but I sneaked away with them nevertheless.”
Sasuke smiles nostalgic and sad all at the same time, as he usually does in the rare moments he talks about his past with Sakura.
“But why?”
“Because gender equality or death, Sakura.”
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
After their talk is easier for Sasuke to visit Sakura’s home or walk alongside her to the market. They both enjoy the experience of expecting the new life coming onto their lives even if is only Sakura who’s getting a new sibling.
Naruto smiles sadly every time he sees his teammates walk together after training but allows them their little piece of heaven.
Kakashi always smirks when he sees Sasuke at the market and he’s not buying weapons or vegetables and instead buys China Roses, Mimosas and Lilies for a calming pregnancy. But also buys Cosmos and Sakura branches in bloom, seemingly only on a whim.
He gravitates around Sakura and her family, attracted by the warmth and the kindness emanating from them, allows himself to enjoy Sakura’s world as if it belonged to him.
Some V-day prompts! Fine if none of them appeal :) 1) Sasuke wants to ask out Naruto but struggles with social anxiety. 2) all the flowers are sold out or overly expensive so Sakura has to improvise (any ship). 3) useless queers not realising they're on a date until halfway.
I want you to know that I sat down with the genuine intent of doing the Sasnar one but it’s femslash February and this is the first fic I slammed out on my new keyboard. Holla————–
Sakura has gone to four different flower stalls, all of which are out of even their meager selection by now. The one shop that is open caters to filthy rich civilians. She can’t justify giving that much money to anyone, much less Yamanaka Flowers’ most staunch competitor. A surprise evening isn’t worth putting that expression on Ino’s face when she inevitably finds out.
Even if every other part of the dinner is perfect. The food, the wine, the timing– all suspiciously impeccable. It’s literally. Only. The flowers.
And she can’t get them from Yamanakas’, because keeping a secret from a whole clan of telepaths, even a harmless one, has already involved weeks of effort.
She’s not about to ruin it now.
She’s also not about to let this one piece be out of place for her masterfully executed plan.
Sakura growls hard, grinding her teeth.
Three separate chunin cross the street to avoid walking within five feet of her. It’s oddly sweet, actually, but she shakes herself and forces on her best smile as she turns the corner.
A jonin blanches, all color leaving his face. He disappears with leaves in her wake. Sakura’s knuckles, already itching with the urge to punch all her problems, demand to be cracked.
She does so and suddenly she’s alone on the street.
“Ugh!” The other rookies don’t run from her like this. Neither did the rest of the village, usually– they love her.
She must look particularly annoyed.
It all comes down to the flowers!
How can she not have flowers!? It’s Ino and it’s their anniversary. Is she a ninja or isn’t she? She’d split every single hair planning this, ordered the assortment over a month ago.
And for what? The shipment had been waylaid. By bandits. Kiri bandits, at that, poaching on the coast of Wave, the warm climate that– she knew from Ino’s pillow talk– grew flowers near year round.
She cursed the flaw in an otherwise perfect plan. Should she have personally escorted the damn cart? There was no way she could have taken off that much time. It was such a pointless thing to happen– agh.
There was going to be a reckoning in Wave as soon as she got the paperwork filed next week. Last time she’d been there, they’d killed all the damn bandits in the area, and she’d been twelve at the time!
For now, though–
“What am I going to do!?” She demanded of the orange sky.
She needed flowers.
It was getting late.
Sakura chewed on her thumbnail, anxious, as she climbed the steps to her modest apartment. Across the street, Naruto’s was decorated with banners and potted plants, mottled colors all around. From the window she saw golden light and heard laughter, the sensor of their team leaning out his window to wave enthusiastically, one arm around Sasuke’s resigned shoulder.
She scowled at them, then sighed, and waved back.
She shut the door behind her, trying not to hear the thunk as a portent of defeat.
Wracking her brain, Sakura tried to think. Flowers, flowers…
Eyes closed tight, she fixed her breathing, went into the calm of battle. She had a mission.
Flowers: where?
Immediately, Ino’s smiling face filled her mindscape, a thousand thousand memories of a little bell jingling and bright grins. Her wife leaning over the counter, chest pressed comically to the glass, feet lifted behind her.
Sparkling eyes, a face so achingly pretty it almost– almost– distracted from the beautiful soul underneath, the devastating looks only a front for the kindest and most amazing person Sakura has ever met.
A myriad of colors and scents, all sweet and familiar and safe like no one in her life ever died, like the village never fell. It’s a place of serenity deep in her heart that pulses with love, even in her memories, and Ino is like the watercolor centerpiece, a hundred different smiles and laughs and unexpectedly cute snorts superimposed over each other in a cacophony of joy.
All the stress rocked out of her shoulders, slowly untensing. Her life was bloody and intense, hands fit for violence no matter how you cut it– either clenched into fists or wrist-deep in a life-threatening wound, bullying a heart into beating– and yet at her center was a core of peace, carved into her with years of teasing words and struggle and love despite conflict.
She let the disappointment flow away. Ino would be happy with her anniversary plans. They’d laugh at how much effort Sakura put into it; they’d eat; and they’d break their record for most amazing night alive, as they did every night they were together.
“I don’t have time to do anything about it, anyway.” She admitted to the blacks of her eyelids, hearing the unmistakable whisper of shinobi-trained feet up the stairs. Like Hell she’d have let her wife come home to an empty house on the fifth anniversary of their wedding night!
And as the doorknob jingles, Sakura can’t help but smile, helplessly fond.
The door opens.
Ino walks in, flawless pink lips already open on a greeting, but she stops. Sakura blinks, staring at pearly white teeth dropped open in shock. And then the rest of the room registers.
Ino drops the bouquet of roses she’d been carrying– because of course she had picked up flowers on her way home; of course, she’s perfect–
It lands on a sage carpet, previously beige. The roses thump softly against a sea of other flowers; all of Ino’s favorites and then some, all the varieties Sakura’s learned over the years and more. They crawl up the walls in draped vines. They stretch up Sakura’s legs and blossom.
Roses in every color bloom into existence between them, a rainbow path built on impossibilities.
Even through the surprise, peace sings through Sakura’s bones. The nearest flowers sigh open and closed like butterfly wings, like breathing.
“Um. Surprise?” She tries, stunned that her dry mouth makes words.
Ino stares at her for a long, dumbfounded second. Then she throws her head back and laughs, loud and boisterous and uncaring who sees. Sakura’s heart pounds, eyes wide and enthralled. Tiny lilac flowers she doesn’t recognize, but which match her wife’s eyes, stretch shyly onto Ino’s bare arms, contrasting with the sleeveless black shirt she wears because the Yamanaka in ANBU are an open secret, at best.
Ino looks at them and Sakura can’t read her face, but that’s okay, because soon it changes to wonder and then three bold steps and arms wrapped around her, the little purple flowers suddenly near her chin.
“My family is going to make so much money from this.” Ino asserts smugly, smelling like jasmine.
“Our family,” Sakura corrects automatically, her own hands coming up to rest familiar on Ino’s hips. She shivers. “I’ve got your favorite foods in the kitchen.”
“I don’t care,” Ino smiles.
“And your favorite wine.”
“Baby?” Soft hands push pink hair back from her forehead, dislodging petals as they go. “I don’t care.”
“Oh.” Sakura tries to realize, but Ino is kissing her, and then she’s lifting her wife by the hips because she’s light as a feather, and. Well.
Later, she’ll laugh about this.
And even her hard-to-please clan will admit that nothing could ever beat making love to a Yamanaka on a bed of constantly-blooming flowers.
Best anniversary ever.
KARIN | A SasuSaku FanFic - (2/10)
(Karin - Part 1)
———
Burying herself in her work was effective in giving her the numbing sensation she was eager to have since that day. Since she's the head of the hospital, she has access to all the departments inside; hence, she could take over whichever task she wants, which was what she did as if her plate was not yet full with her regular work. If the only thing that would save her from sulking all day and crying all night was getting involved in her least favorite departments in the hospital, then she's fine with that.
For weeks, she had been ridiculously out of reach even to Naruto, Kakashi, and Shizune. And she hadn't heard about Sasuke ever since.
But there were some days, at those exact rare hours that she allowed herself to breathe, wherein she unexpectedly caught a glimpse of a raven-haired man with a redhead clinging unto him at the market. Whenever that happened, she immediately stopped on her tracks, bags of groceries almost falling from her grip, then opted to go home without even completing her shopping list.
She thought those few instances were already enough. However, there was one moment that she was left with no other choice but to face the man that makes her heart beat faster yet cripple it at the same time. She found him at Ichiraku, of all places, and she mentally scolded herself for listening to her unusual craving for the meal that their jinchuriki teammate loves. It was right after he paid for two to-go bowls of freshly cooked ramen that he turned and saw her, charcoal eyes widening at the sight of the pink-haired medic in her white coat.
For a second, she felt self-conscious. She hoped that he wouldn't notice the dark circles under her emerald eyes. She hoped that he wouldn't notice how those orbs weren't as bright as the way they used to shine for him. She hoped that he wouldn't notice that she was fresh from crying, partly due to a patient losing his battle with cancer just recently, but mostly due to her heart losing its battle in moving on from loving him since they were kids.
It was too late to even retreat from the small stall so they stiffly stood there, face to face, flabbergasted with the sudden encounter after a month of absence in each other's lives even though they were just in the same village for once.
Sakura tried to smile. "For Karin?"
There was a momentary pause as the wandering ninja threw a glance at the plastic in his hand. "Yeah."
"I see."
Sasuke just stared back at her, his lips parted as if he was about to say something.
And then her phone rang. Saved by the bell, alright. When she turned to answer the direct call from the hospital phone, she somehow considered believing that she saw from her peripheral vision how his shoulders slumped at the sudden interruption. But who was she kidding? She has lived a life wherein Sasuke finds her annoying. If anything, he’d be glad that she’s going to be out of sight immediately.
She then tipped her head over her shoulder after ending the call. "It's time for another surgery. Bye, Sasuke-kun...Take care of her well."
Then she headed back to work. She wasn't even able to order her own meal but it was better than spending another second with Sasuke who had been so expressive on his concern for the redhead medic nin. A new set of tears rolled down her cheeks, but this time, it hurt more because she couldn’t deny that she missed seeing his face. But she also knew that she won't be able to move on if she'll keep on seeing him.
Maybe she'll just keep on healing others, then eventually her heart would heal as well.
Sakura exhaled in relief after taking a step back and glancing at the carefully stacked medicines in the pharmacy. The pharmacists would surely be glad at the accomplished work that Sakura had taken off their shoulders. It wasn't the first time that she bothered to lend them a hand, but she figured it was better to use her break there than go out and risk the happenstance of seeing Sasuke again.
"Sakura! Sakura!" She was welcomed by a rattled Shizune once she reached the hallway to her office from the pharmacy.
"What's the matter, Shizune-san?"
"I know you've just finished your break but we need you in the operating room right now." She panted.
Sakura gaped at her colleague. "Another surgery?"
"No. Emergency labor. It's been a dangerous pregnancy for her so we'd rather have you deliver the baby for you are one of the bests that we have." Shizune handed her a white folder. "I trust you, now go."
Startled, she pivoted due to the force of Shizune's push as she opened the file of her new patient.
Ho—
"You have to hurry, Sakura! She's been having intense contractions for hours now. You know what's at stake!"
A glimpse of the very few patients she'd unfortunately lost since the war flashed in her mind and it made her shudder. She didn't want her new patient to be one of them. "Right! Shannaro!" Sakura shut the folder and headed to the stairs.
Turning from the last flight of stairs, her jaw dropped at the sight of no other than Sasuke who was leaning his back on the wall in front of the operating room with his hand brushing through his hair.
What in the world?
Her heart clenched at the realization that her patient must've been Karin.
Why me? Why is it always me?
Sasuke tilted his head towards her when he heard the shuffling of her feet. "Sakura," he acknowledged, shifting his gaze to the operating room and then back to her with a tinge of panic drawn on his face. "Karin."
Her hands trembled, but she rushed inside the room and true enough, Karin was there, hands gripping tightly on the metal rail of the hospital bed as she winced from a recent contraction. "S-sakura! Thank Kami! It's—Ugh!—time!"
Baffled, she grabbed a pair of medical gloves and went back outside the room. "Sasuke-kun. Go inside, or you'll miss the whole thing," she stated professionally, eyes not meeting his as her hand pulled her gloves in place.
Sasuke looked at her with a puzzled expression. "Why should I be there?"
This time, she faced him, fighting the urge to punch the last Uchiha and eradicate him before he even multiplies. "What?! She needs you there! C'mon! Your baby's about to come out anytime soon!" And then she rushed inside again, leaving the dumbfounded Uchiha by the door.
It was, by far, the most dreadful six hours she has ever had as a medical ninja. Shizune wasn't kidding when she mentioned that her patient's pregnancy was dangerous. For hours now, she had been transferring chakra to Karin so she could exert more effort to push the baby out of her womb without her own heartbeat stopping in the process. If another two hours would pass without the baby coming out yet, she knew she would have no choice but to use the Byakugou. It was that fatal.
And it scared her to the core. She didn't know why Sasuke chose to stay outside, but in all honesty, she was glad. If he was here, watching how she mediated between life and death for his...for his wife and child, she was sure she would be more pressured to the point of making a mistake in just a snap.
What would Sasuke think...if...if when all else fails, he'd lose a family again, but this time, it would be because of me? She felt her heart constrict, for her own pain and for his.
She knew she'd rather live a life wherein Sasuke is happy with somebody else than a life wherein he'll loathe her forever. As she once again put pressure on Karin's belly, tears began rushing down her face at the thought of finally letting go of the man she has always loved.
But then, before she even fully lose her focus on the job, Karin released another earsplitting scream. And moments later, Sakura came to smile amidst the tears as she saw the product of her hours of perseverance in helping to bring out a new life into the world. It wasn't even her own child, but somehow, all the heaviness inside her moments ago was abruptly replaced with the joy of successfully giving a baby the chance to live.
For in her own arms was a tiny red-haired baby girl.
With vibrant purple eyes.
Proud
So this little number popped into my head this morning. I’ve always wanted to see an interaction between Tsunade and Sakura, Kakashi and Sakura after the war. That’s how this came to be. It hasn’t been beta read, it’s really just a little Drabble but hopefully you all will enjoy 😊😊
“How are they doing Sakura?” Lady Tsunade’s voice fills the office. There’s hint of worry and just as much curiosity. It doesn’t come without saying we are all worried about the two saviors.
“They should be awake sometime tomorrow. Their bodies took a lot of damage and underwent so much stress.” It goes without saying that Naruto and Sasuke-kun are exhausted. I’ve been watching over them for the past few days and it’s not surprising the rate of healing they have. Both have been through so much in their young lives.
“That’s good to hear. In just a few weeks Kakashi will be taking on my role. I’ll need you to help him understand the structure of the hospital.”
“Yes shishou.” A wave of sadness washes through me. My teacher is leaving me. I should be happy that she can finally retire and spend quality time to herself. She’s earned that much. But I can’t lie, I’ll miss her.
“I’m so proud of you Sakura. You truly are a student worthy of passing her teacher.” A prideful smile spreads on my face and a heat rises to my cheeks. Closing the distance between us, my arms wrap tightly around her. This woman has been there for me, taught me everything she knows, and cared for me as her own daughter.
“I’ll carry on the Slug Sannin name with pride.”
“No, you’ll carry on something more meaningful. Sakura Haruno, legendary Kunoichi of the Hidden Leaf.” Her words are enough to cause the tears to drop from my eyes. I squeeze my told slightly tighter before moving away to wipe my face dry.
“Now, go check on your patients. We can meet for some sake later.” Shishou wiggles her brows at me as she ushers from her office. Once that door is closed I know she will shed a few tears of her own. That’s the type of woman my master is.
Once outside in the hallway, I notice a mess of grey hair to my right. My Sensei is casually leaned against the wall reading a dirty book. Typical Kakashi-Sensei.
“You know once you become Hokage, you won’t be able to read those smutty books anymore.” I tease as he closes the distance between us. Tucking the book into his back pocket slowly. Beneath that mask I can see a genuine smile.
“I’ll walk you to the hospital.” He’s acting strange. For the past few days Kakashi-Sensei hasn’t been seen. No doubt dealing with the political aspects of his new job. I remember sitting with Lady Tsunade through those excruciating meetings. Even I was bored now and then.
The walk is short but the tension between us is loud. Never before have I felt so awkward around my Sensei.
We’ve been through so much together. But at the same time, we haven’t been through anything. When I was younger I didn’t understand why he spent so much time teaching Naruto and Sasuke-kun. All I wanted was to be recognized as a true Kunoichi and Shinobi. I partially blamed him for my stunted growth.
But now I understand. They needed more guidance than I did. Naruto is the son of his deceased Sensei, of course he would feel obligated to protect him. Sasuke-kun is an Uchiha just like his deceased best friend. He wanted to make things different this time around. His goal was to teach them all he could to keep them safe.
In the end, he did. Kakashi-Sensei’s lesson of teamwork never left us. Even after so many years apart Team 7 still fought together as if nothing happened. And now we can continue to do so.
The hospital is quiet as we enter, a few new medic bow at me. I return the gesture quickly, slight embarrassment on my face. Just recently I’ve been name successor to Lady Tsunade as chief medic. Once her retirement is official, I’ll be in charge of the Leaf Medics. It’s a strange feeling but I couldn’t be happier. Being a medic is what I was destined for.
Entering Naruto and Sasuke-kun’s shared room we are greeted with the beeping of the monitors. Their bodies were drained of almost all energy and chakra. With their injuries I’m surprised that they recovering this fast. Getting their lost blood replenished was my number one concern once we rushed them back to the village. Kakashi-Sensei was trying to be funny and carried an unconscious Naruto while I had to help a barely conscious Sasuke-kun. Under that damn mask I knew he was smirking.
“They seem to be healing nicely.” I nod at his words as I read over the nightly physical. It seems they were more responsive last night. Which means they should wake up any day now. Signing off on the observations, I take the empty seat beside him. The smutty book hasn’t made an appearance which is shocking.
“Is everything okay Kakashi-Sensei?”
“Ah. I guess it is.”
My jade eyes glance over at him and I can see his eyes staring intensely at the two boys. His eyes are telling a different story. Even from here I can see regret and pain filling them.
“You know, back when I first met you three I thought you all were hopeless.”
“I remember the term ‘I hate you’ came up.”
A chuckle escapes both of our lips. It seems that there is more on my Sensei’s mind than I thought.
“I never thought that I would grow to love you three as my own family. To see you all surpass the previous Sannin and save the world, made me so proud.”
The sense of pride makes me feel as if I’m floating on a cloud.
“But I have to say Sakura, out of Team 7, you’ve made me the proudest.”
His words cause my eyes to widen and my jaw to slack open. Turning my head towards him, I take in his stiff composure. Kakashi-Sensei has his face rested on one hand while the other is gripping the chair arm tightly. Under those gloves I bet his knuckles are white.
“I spent so much time training Naruto and Sasuke that I never took the time to teach you anything. My guilt is part of the reason why I approached Lady Tsunade on training you.”
My mouth feels dry and a nauseous feeling settles in my stomach. My Sensei has never been this open with me before. Clearing my mind, I swallow the lump in my throat.
“Guilt?”
A heavy sigh escapes through the mask before he shifts to sit fully.
“Sakura, you were and still are the most matured on Team 7. From a young age I noticed your battle strategic abilities, your chakra control has always been impressive, and your genjutsu analytical abilities rival mine. I felt as if there was nothing I could teach you. I spent so much time training them that I forgot about developing your strengths.”
“Kakashi-Sensei you taught me more than you think. Watching you throughout the years I learned how to fight against an Uchiha to avoid the Sharingan. I learned to never give up. But most importantly, I learned that those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum.”
It is his turn to be shocked by my words. Our first lesson as a team definitely threw us all for a loop. Even I was stunned by his passing remark. But I understand now.
“That’s why Naruto and I couldn’t give up on Sasuke-kun. No matter how many times I studied the ninja rule book or how perfect I can recite them, if I had to break them to save a comrade then I would. Your teachings are the reason why we are all sitting in this room together.”
My lips twist upward in a reassuring smile. Reaching over I lightly punch his shoulder causing him to laugh. It’s contagious as I join him. Laughter is a rare sound as of lately. Too much darkness has entered and left our lives. It’s good to feel normal again.
“Sakura, I’m proud of you. I apologize for not being the best teacher I could be. But you’ve exceeded all of my expectations. I’m honored that you still call me your Sensei.”
“I overheard your conversation with Lady Tsunade. I agree wholeheartedly that you are the legendary Kunoichi of the Leaf. Soon you will show the whole world what you’re capable of in the medical field.”
Joy rushes through my body and I lean over to hug my Sensei quickly. It’s an embrace that ends as quickly as it began. But now it’s truly does feel like everything is back to normal.
“You’ll always be my Sensei, Kakashi-sama.” Wiggling my pink brows at him I can see the sweat rolling off of his forehead. Looking back at my boys that lay in the beds, I let a small smile spread on my lips. Without a doubt things will change but our bonds will only grow stronger.
