For some reason I just got the idea to do a relativity falls au with stancest from Mabel’s pov. Because relativity falls is the gravity falls au that I’m the most picky about and have seen so little incest fic from.
But just Mabel, posing as Mason Pines, watching her great nephews and being reminded of herself and dipper. And then realizing that holy shit those too boys are way too similar to her and her brother. Her brother who she definatly fucked before they separated on terrible terms.

Summary: um. Mod's gonna write their own description of this. Because wtf. This is tagged as a shockfic. And boy is it shocking. I've only read the synopsis and holy god. READ WITH CAUTION. Contains incest, necrophilia, fetishes, underage sex, graphic gore and...other stuff, child murder, and implied cannibalism.

HELP I AM CURRENTLY WRITING 3 FANFICS AT ONCE. i need to commit to one at a time but my adhd ass just cannot-
lmk if anyone is interested in any of these? it's prolly gonna be a minute until i finish any but it would be nice to see if anyone is interested in my concepts/wips
camp cretaceous potentially no longer canon compliant yasammy (i haven't played hidden adventure yet and it might destroy my fic's canon compliancy) about the failed escape attempts mentioned in the show and sammy falls HARD. it's mostly trying to keep the comedy and suspense of the source material, though.
hololive gura/amelia criminal+cop au where there's an illegal trade of things like shark fins and it's threatening atlantis, so gura tries to take them down with crime™️ and ame's job is to stop her, but ends up going rouge to help gura save atlantis and epic cop action and romance insues
gravity falls post canon hurt/comfort pinecest (oops, i'm a sinner) where dipper and mabel are now adults and adventuring on the stan’o’war with their grunkles and it's actually kinda cute? messed up morally ofc but it's so fluffy and gentle tbh

I started reading fanfiction on Wattpad, I started reading fanfiction on ff.net, on AO3, LISTEN I started reading fanfiction on YouTube! The first fic I ever saw was an origin story for Celestia, Luna, and Discord where their parents all died at war!
The next site I found was DeviantArt, the first fanfic I read that was written out on an actual website was a my little pony gore fic, and for a years, YEARS I read EXCLUSIVELY DeviantArt!
I didn’t leave DeviantArt until I found fimfiction.net, and then I went far too deep in the MLP ship war trenches, I was an 11 and I would have fist fought anyone if they said that Dislestia was better than Fluttercord.
fanfiction.net was not a thought in my head until the she-ra fandom, and Wattpad was where I read questionable things in Hazbin Hotel fanfics. I didn’t get on AO3 until I was a Junior in High school!
I don’t read poorly written fanfics in larger fandoms because I’m looking for specific tropes, I read them because my standards for what I read are based on YouTube fanfics, you guys all have your fanfic standards on the floor, well mine are buried in a cave 10 miles underground, you guys all learned to be picky, well I learned that as long as it doesn’t have untagged incest or forced Cannibalism that I could power through it for content!

@maknaasfalti
first of all, being this condescending and mean isn't gonna change anyone's minds. you're being an ass.
just because the content gets taken down, doesn't mean it violates copyright law. you know that as well as i do. that's why so many sites take down things that are falsely DMCA'd, and they get put back up later. they act first, ask questions later. that's how most sites operate.
that's not how boundaries work. you set boundaries FOR YOURSELF. once you start telling other people what to do and how to do it, you start making RULES.
this has nothing to do with being proship, really, but it has everything to do with keath falsely copyright striking people due to their personal distaste or disgust for what other people do.
also saying "kill yourself" over pinecest (re: fiction) isn't cute! nor is your blatant xenophobia of rural americans!
Tumblr media
NOW let me outline why it would be a false copyright strike!
(i'll also @silly-lil-bimbo for this section)
once again, we go back to THE ACTUAL LAW (17 U.S. Code § 107) which clearly states it that the factors considered when referring to copyright and fair use are as follows:
the purpose and character of the use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes,
the nature of the copyrighted work,
the amount of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole, and
the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
also note the fact the work is unpublished does not bar itself from a finding of fair use.
the fact is, it's entirely on a case-by-case basis, as a lot of this is subjective and completely depends on the judge presiding over the case. HOWEVER, fanfiction is very likely to count as "transformative", due to the nature OF fanfiction. there's a reason AO3 is still up and the entire site hasn't been removed for copyright infringement.
in the case of yaelokre, specifically the nsfw works, they're only taking the characters and some elements of the story, but they're not appropriating the entirety of the work, making profit off of it, detracting from the potential market value of the original work, or claiming it as their own, which is NECESSARY to prove it is an infringement of copyright.
regardless of all that, the fact remains it is shitty to try and strike down what fanfiction writers/fanartists do just because YOU PERSONALLY do not like what fans do with your characters. keath made their characters public, now they have to deal with the consequences of that, or remove their characters from public eye. very simple.
at this point, i hope people DON'T make fanfic/fanart for yaelokre lest they get a cease and desist, because who knows what keath/the people working with them will determine as "inappropriate, offensive, or misinfo".

I agree with your pinecest and stancest posts and reblogs and fanart, opinions on the headcanon that mabel is a fujoshi darkshipper who writes fanfiction and draws fanart of her grunkles and brother all going at it in pink glitter pen in her diary and puts stickers all over the pages?
(I haven't interacted with any of your posts though since I'm not openly a proshipper and I don't want my anti moots, followers and friends to know that I am- sorryyy D:)

feeling nostalgic, so I thought I’d share my story of how I came to be here, as an incest shipper. Up until now I have been too concerned with others finding out my identity to share my thoughts, but I think I am finally comfortable doing so.
The first incest ship I was into was pinecest back in 2017 (thanks to doublepines artwork) and I felt so guilty about it I deleted that blog. I still have the dummy e-mail address I used to create the account, though. That was my real first incest ship. I never would have gotten curious if it weren’t for anti-pinecest fans vaguing about the ship in the tags. I remember liking the taboo nature of the ship, and the portrayal of the forbidden love between the siblings as something that had some positive aspects (rather than the universally negative portrayals I had only ever seen in media at that point in my life.) After having that account for a short period, I deleted it out of shame and pretended it had never happened.
Years later when I got into Jojo, I was enjoying part 4 and the fanart that came with it. I stumbled across some Josuhan ship art, and ended up feeling conflicted. At the time, I still saw ship art as something that can be immoral. Yet, I liked the bickering, frictional relationship between the characters, and imagining how it would transfer to a romantic context.
Eventually I decided to make a separate twitter account for my problematic Jojo fanart indulgences, the Sarah_j0jo account which is now my main twitter account. (I stopped using twitter connected to my real name a long time ago.) I got into Josuhan even though it was an age gap ‘toxic’ ship, and then by proximity, because I figured if I was going to ship problematic things I might as well go whole hog on the matter, so I got into JotaJosu. To be truthful, I didn’t like it much when I first got into it, but the ship gradually grew on me. I found one of the most haunting fanfictions that I have read to date. The power imbalance between the older and jaded Jotaro and his young uncle Josuke felt like a very old story indeed, just put through the lens of fandom’s interpretation of the characters.
Over time, I went back to using tumblr, but gradually I was becoming more comfortable with the idea of shipping “immoral” things. I became infatuated with Kusucest later in 2021, another frictional relationship, but this time between estranged siblings, both of whom were queercoded and one of whom was implied to have masochistic, incestuous feelings for the other on a purely physical level, the other implied asexual, forming a stark contrast. They captivated me, these two characters who were so different and yet blood related; so dependent on each other despite themselves, all their interactions coming in the form of violence of some kind, even when they had a positive outcome.
I was fascinated by the fact that one was so thoroughly obsessed with the other, the other pretending they weren’t related whenever possible; this inconvenient, spiteful, competitive brother who so thoroughly messed up his worldview as a child by demonizing an integral part of him, his psychic powers. And yet, at the same time, the older idolizes the younger for what he is, and even loves him unconditionally. And the younger realizes that he is indebted to his brother (and by proxy his brother’s obsession with him). Despite everything, by the end of the story, Kusuo can’t seem to dislike him.
It’s a thoroughly dysfunctional relationship with plenty of themes to explore, and both of them grow over the course of the story, and there’s so many things about the characters that feel like contradictions and yet seem to work. I stayed quiet about shipping them because most of the fandom understandably wasn’t interested in imagining them together in a romantic or sexual context. The blog I ran was (or rather, still is) mostly focused on the characters and the story,  and the themes of friendship (all things that I still wholeheartedly love and appreciate about the show.)
It wasn’t until I got into Vijinx about a year later that I really decided, fuck it, this is fiction, and stopped seeing the matter as a two-sided issue. Instead, there’s people who are comfortable with it and people who aren’t (and it is a weird, uncomfortable hobby to have by definition.) I spent a very long time being uncomfortable with it, and yet drawn in nonetheless. But around early 2022 was the point at which I completely stopped seeing it as an issue of something that reflected any sort of real life morality, and embraced the idea that we as human beings will have dark thoughts and fantasies that don’t define us as people, no matter how much or how little we identify them as true.
Fast forward to this year, and everyone who follows my non-problematic tumblr accounts knows that I’m accepting of portrayals of complex characters and character relationships, both in canon and in fanon. I’ve attended therapy, spent invaluable time thinking about what it *really* means to be a good person, and read some really insightful books that made me rethink the shame I felt over ‘problematic’ shipping, more specifically incest shipping which I had by then realized I liked.
I figured out shipping was, for one, a harmless diversion and didn’t mean that I had any interest in doing anything that I wanted fictional characters to do. It’s a way to mentally put yourself in a difficult, undesirable or even dangerous situation without being harmed. I figured it was ultimately me trying to work through difficult questions and feelings, ones that weren’t actually directly related to incest at all, but instead reflected the ways in which people are alienated and ostracized from their true feelings and inner selves.
It’s about falling in love and feeling totally out of your depth and out of control because of who you fall in love with. It’s about the unspeakable taboo (what happens if other people find out how I feel?) and the way the entire world is against the feelings that seem inevitable to you, no matter how much you try to scrape them out of you. It’s all a potent metaphor for queerness and the feelings I’ve struggled with my entire life. Especially because there seems to be less and less stories in fandom these days that really dig into the psychological terror, the confusion, the guilt, the anxiety, cold fear and the repression that queer people go through (especially ex homophobic, and ex religious christian queer people) to accept their identities.
On a deeper level, it’s about the shame itself; it really is. The shame I have been conditioned and taught to the point that I internalized it. The ways in which I am still discovering the power that unnecessary shame holds over me, deconstructing the ways it eats into my life as I take it into consideration with everything I do- scheduling my time, creating art, communicating with others, even simply using my own body as I eat or exercise or sleep. That shame is the root of so many psychological problems and so much miscommunication, not just in my life but in many people’s lives. It’s a much deeper shame than feeling; it’s the shame of being.
Incest just happens to be the perfect vehicle to examine that shame. There’s nothing quite so universally shamed and condemned as incest, for its connotations with abuse and the inherent ‘yuck’ factor that nature, nurture or perhaps both has installed in humanity.
If incest is about shame, then maybe cannibalism is about codependency, vampirism is about sexuality and lyncanthropy is about repression. So many dark tropes have a metaphorical quality to them.
Literary metaphors are sometimes a hard thing for someone who is naturally somewhat literal minded like me to accept. But most of the time, even when an author means a story to be completely literal, there’s a metaphorical reading that can be found within.
I just wasn’t consciously aware that I was looking for that in these stories for a long, long time.
Many fanworks are created by victims of some kind of abuse looking to understand that abuse better through the artwork. Some people are aware of everything they are exploring through their art, some aren’t, and some, (probably most) like me, don’t fully realize what they are exploring until they really dive in and let themselves have fictional experiences through fandom that aren’t restricted or unilaterally positive. I honestly believe that in some way, on some level, every person who creates art with dark themes is trying to understand something that happened to them, or someone else close to them in their lives. It just isn’t always exactly what they are creating art about. And it isn’t always life ruining trauma, but it’s something no less real. And of course it is enjoyable. Exploring human relationships through fiction is enjoyable, creating art is enjoyable; controlling the narrative and the outcome of the story is enjoyable. Examining it is an important step in learning about ourselves and the world around us, and in the healing process for trauma that allows us to make these difficult questions and emotions and construct them into something. It’s an enjoyable process, because it’s cathartic.
And this isn’t the end of the journey for me, either. I have more art to create; more of myself to accept, more difficult bits of reality to understand. But I’m no longer shying away from the darkness of it. Sometimes the only way out is through. If I can’t handle reality, then it follows that I would include bits of reality in my fantasies which reflect some truth which I have yet to fully see. Constructing a story, oddly enough, helps me do that. By constructing the story I extract the unconscious things which I observe and make them conscious, and draw conclusions about them. And of course, what I create isn’t reality itself, only a meditation on it from my own limited perspective, injected with enough fantasy to make it something I can comfortably embrace.
Finally knowing and understanding all of this has brought me some peace. I hope it brings you peace as well.

i want to preface this by saying i treat rape in big-budget media and rape in fanfic the *exact* same way.
i'm so tired let me write my fanfic in PEACE. I don't give a shit that i'm an "anti" for thinking children shouldn't be posting their coping rape porn online and i don't give a shit that I'm an "pro" for saying the majority of art should be preserved and not censored as long as you behave yourself. I'm not choosing some sort of imaginary label for being normal and paying my taxes aka: thinking nobody should be leaving heart eye emojis under graphic rape fiction that utilizes rape apologetics but ALSO thinking that nobody deserves to be harassed on either side and at the end of the day ITS NOT A BIG FUCKING DEAL. (i put that in bold so children with bad reading comprehension remember that more easily.) ITS NOT A BIG DEAL THIS WHOLE ARGUMENT IS STUPID AND CONTRIVED "i'm a minor so i would know" IF YOURE A MINOR THEN TAKE YOUR PORN OFF THE INTERNET. IT ISNT SAFE. RUB ONE OUT TO IT IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUT OWN ONE DIRECTION BEDSHEETS BUT NOT ON THE INTERNET WHERE ADULTS CAN LEAVE COMMENTS THAT SAY "❤️❤️❤️❤️ this one is so cute teehee" ITS NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT ITS CHILD INTERNET SAFETY. IT IS NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT. i'm not calling anyone a pedo, or a groomer, or being homophobic or anti-kink. I'm *absolutely* not calling for censorship of anything. i hate censorship. i do not CARE that you are a rape survivor. i am too. i dont think your fanfic about sexual assault is causing rapes. i don't, I really don't. But most of these 13-14 year old children do not understand that while it's okay to have kinks and they are natural sexual expressions, you *have* to understand that treating rape like it's cute is *bad.* I'm very glad that rape is being more talked about but it's important to treat it with grace and respect. im breaking out the bold again: i have read and enjoyed graphic and disgusting rape fanfic. but it was fics that treated it respectfully, with grace, even if was graphic, or hell, pornographic. I see obvious rape culture rhetoric like "she was biting her lip so even though she said no her face said yes" being repeated in fics by kids and this isn't a "protect the kids" thing. this is an "im allowed to critiseze how media depicts my trauma without harrassment on either end" issue. call me homophobic (ive been gay longer than you peewees) but its an issue of rape apologetics not "censoring gay people." I am a VERY pro-kink person. but real life bdsm communities have been normalizing Safe, Sane, and Consensual for longer than you've known where babies come from. And "she was biting her lip so even though she said no her face said yes" without any context of it being SSC perpetuates this. im aware
Also, if you're in your 20s-30s, and you write porn of teenagers or kids (fictional or elsewhere), you're gross. If you act like you're an oppressed class for writing porn of kids, incest, or animals, you're gross! You're oppressed for being queer, not writing omegaverse pinecest- and yes, these things are mutually exclusive and it's gross to assume omegaverse pinecest or whatever is inherent to queerness. If you're in the "proshipper" community where there are lots of kids writing porn and you aren't posting your own porn on 18+ sites, you're gross. this should be common knowledge, but you're gross. im not commanding you to take your fic down or censor it, nor am i saying youre a pedo or groomer, im saying please direct your sexual thoughts about children in an appropriate place. As I said before: I'm pro kink. There are appropriate kinks for that, that you could write about non-children! If you write diaper fanfic about adults, good for you! If that's what gets you off, I'm very happy you've found your niche. But making porn of children isn't good. I understand fanfiction does not have the reach to make massive change on it's own. But so much of it has genuinely caused people to get stuck in these patterns of feeling ostracized for their kinks, then resenting "antis", then resenting anyone who looks like an "anti" then getting stuck in a bubble comparable to internet agoraphobia where the fictional kiddie porn that could have been weird but mostly harmless takes over them and their whole group chat's twitter accounts. They get fucking redfaced over antis raising critism over a disrespectful depiction of something *very* serious- rape and pedophilia.
i wouldnt have made this post and i wouldnt have even cared if other people weren't forcing me into some sort of box and straightup CALLING ME a proshipper or an antishipper to my digital face.
The bottom line: i don't care if you have a cnc fetish, need to cope with rape trauma, etc. I don't care if you write fanfic about it, I do too. I didn't get assraped on the disney cruise for nothin. I also don't want anything to be censored. But *please* remember Safe, Sane, and Consensual in your fanfic. Ultimately, just be respectful that you aren't perpetuating harmful ideas about real life rape, not cnc, being genuinely desirable. And remember to recover outside of the internet by spending time with your real life hobbies, friends, or most importantly: THERAPIST. And if you're therapist reccomends writing as a coping mechanism: awesome! Just make sure that when you post it online you 1. are not a child, 2. are not sexualising children, 3. you're keeping it respectful. If you keep respect in mind while writing media (I sure as hell do, and I'm no less satisfied with my fic) there wouldn't need to be a conversation about censorship in the first place. (not that im pro censorship)
Please reread this whole post before leaving a comment because your question is likely already answered.
EDIT: I forgot to mention but you can like something and still criticize it. I love bojack horseman but i don't like the way it handled adoption, for example. I've liked some cnc fics or fics about rape trauma and still liked the fic, but thought "Damn, they really could've worded that in a less victim-blamey way" or something along those lines.

Mabel’s All-In-One Guide to Being a Shooting Star: How to Avoid Being Caught and Other Tips You Should Know
Chapter Four: Not Gravity Falls
Whoops I forgot to post it my b you guys
Shoutout to @edward-or-ford and @pacific-ship for being bangs
When I wake up, the dream isn't done, I wanna see your face and know I've made it home. If nothing is true, what more can I do?- All Time Low, Painting Flowers
There was something… off about this Gravity Falls. Which was, of course, to be expected; alternate reality and all that. It wasn’t as different from her Gravity Falls as Not Dipper was from her Dipper, it just… It just felt strange. Like it was just a little bit wrong. It was darker. Everything was darker. She didn’t quite understand why.
She was still somewhat out of it, and walking was a chore. She really missed her bike. Why didn’t she have her bike again? Right, because she’d been abducted by gnomes, and then abducted-slash-rescued by an alternate version of her bro.
He was walking beside her, this alternate Dipper, and there was something different in the way he held himself. Her Dipper was… awkward, for lack of a better word. Adorably so, of course; it was one of the many things that had made her fall in love with him to begin with.
But this version… this version of Dipper walked with an easy sort of confidence Mabel wasn’t used to seeing, not on anybody, or at least not to that degree. He wasn’t awkward. Not even a little. He was sure of himself, perhaps even arrogant. He stood at his full height, not slouching or hunching his shoulders.
He didn’t just walk, either. He strutted, and he didn’t seem to notice when the townspeople (who had all stopped dead in their tracks and were looking at her, slack-jawed and wide-eyed) gave them both an unnecessarily wide berth. He didn’t glance at them, not even briefly to take mental note of their locations in relation to his own. He simply continued on as if they weren’t there, as if they didn’t exist.
They were looking at her with such unmistakable horror that Mabel had to say something.
“Hey,” she murmured at Not Dipper. “What’s the deal with these guys?”
“Hm?” He didn’t appear to have been paying attention to them, so when she voiced her question, he glanced around haphazardly. “Oh, I suppose they might think you’re… the other Mabel.”
“Huh. Weird.” Before she could comment further, her words were cut off.
“Mabel?” came a shocked voice that was almost familiar, but not quite. And when Mabel slowed her pace along the sidewalk and turned her gaze to her right, she found herself looking at a very… well, it was just odd, wasn’t it, almost as odd as Not Dipper’s mannerisms and general Not Dipper-ness. The contrast of these weird versions to the people she knew was lowkey freakin’ her out.
It was… “Pacifica?” It did very much appear to be Pacifica. The girl looked like Pacifica. She had the same face, eyes, and general appearance, but it looked like Pacifica if Pacifica had aged several years and gotten a hippie costume from a Halloween store. Or a Summerween store. Y’know. Whatever.
“You’re, uh… how are you…?” Pacifica was asking, and Mabel still felt a bit wobbly, but she smiled at this strange version of Pacifica all the same.
“Hi!” Mabel greeted with a cheerful wave, sticking her hand out for the other girl to shake. “I’m Mabel, nice to meet ya!” There was murmuring of words from the crowd that Mabel couldn’t hear or understand, and Pacifica was looking at Mabel’s hand like it had a shark’s mouth and the corresponding number of teeth (which was, fun fact, three thousand), and would give her hand similar treatment to that of those teenagers in Jaws.
Realizing Pacifica wasn’t gonna take her hand, Mabel lowered it with a pout. Not Dipper wasn’t looking at her. He’d stopped walking when she had, but he was staring off into space, his expression blank.
“I… I don’t understand,” Pacifica said, eyeing Mabel warily. “How are you… how are you here?”
Suddenly, Mabel remembered: ‘nother universe, concussion, blah blah blah.
“Right!” She snapped her fingers. “Sorry, I totes magoats forgot!” Pacifica (and everyone else) raised their eyebrows at her. “Have a bit of a concussion here,” she explained, knocking on the side of her head. “Yowch, prolly shouldn’t’ve done that. Anyway, the long and short of it is,” she paused for dramatic effect, “I’m from an alternate dimension! Ta-da!” She did jazz hands. Dramatic effect really was important. Essential, even.
“Okay,” Pacifica said slowly, looking immensely confused. “So, how, exactly…” she glanced at Not Dipper, and her eyes widened. “Holy crap, what happened?!” she exclaimed, rushing towards him. “Are you okay? We need to get you to a hospital, ommigod!”
He rolled his eyes, allowing them to land on her. “It’s none of your concern.” His voice was bored, disinterested, like the absolute last thing in the world he wanted to be doing was to be talking to her, and the fact that he was having to was nothing more than an irritating waste of time.
“Worry not, little missy!” Mabel gave her a double thumbs up. “We’re gonna get it taken care of and the not-broseph over here will be a-okay!”
Nobody else said anything. Pacifica was still looking at her nervously. If they thought she was the alternate universe’s Mabel and they were acting like, well, that, then what in the hell had her other self done to them? Dang diggity, they were looking at Not Dipper the same way; what had he done to them?
She glanced at him. He wasn’t looking at Pacifica anymore. He was staring off into space again.
“Um, well, I-“
Pacifca’s nervous stuttering was cut off by Not Dipper sighing, taking Mabel’s hand in his, and pulling her forward again. “Time to go,” he said, not bothering to look over his shoulder.
Had he always been so... apathetic? Mabel wasn’t sure. Her head was still pounding somewhat, and she couldn’t remember suuuuuper clearly, but she was pretty sure he’d been paying attention to her before. In fact, he’d been focused entirely on her, she had thought. But just then, he wasn’t focusing on anything. He’d totally snubbed Pacifica, too!
“Where are we going, exactly?” Mabel asked, doing her best to wave over her shoulder at the bewildered and fearful-looking townspeople as Not Dipper dragged her along behind him, his hand gentle but firm around hers.
“Home,” Not Dipper said simply, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Not her home, obviously, but his. Was it her shaken brain, or was his distinct lack of the word ‘my’ weird?
“Not… uh…” she took a moment to collect her thoughts. Stupid concussion. What was that word again? “Not a hospital?”
“Not a hospital,” he agreed.
“O...kay…?”
After several minutes of him walking in strides that were a bit much for Mabel, particularly since she was having difficulty walking at all, he looked over his shoulder at her with one of those stupid stupid stupid grins-
“You seem to be having a bit of trouble there, Mabel dear. You’re quite sure you don’t want me to carry you again?”
“Yes, I’m sure!” She nodded emphatically. But, wait a second. “Again? What do you mean again?”
“Oh,” he glanced over his shoulder at her for a second, as if he’d forgotten he’d mentioned it to begin with. “I carried you earlier. When you were unconscious, you know.”
“R- right,” she stuttered. He’d carried her? How terribly embarrassing. She was far too heavy to be carried, and she was massively uncomfortable with this random version of her twin she loved in a very un-sister-type way knowing that she was far too heavy to be carried. “Thank you for saving me, by the way.”
“Of course,” he said easily. “Though please do try not to get into too much trouble now that you’re here.” He paused for a moment. “I’d hate to see something happen to you.”
“Honestly, the only place weird stuff ever happens to me is Gravity Falls,” she chuckled a bit. Her own need to escape had trapped her in a way, hadn’t it? “I’m probably no safer here than I was in my dimension.”
They’d migrated from sidewalks to dirt walkways along the side of a long, winding road that Mabel couldn’t see the end of.
“You’re safe with me,” he told her firmly. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
He was pulling her along the dirt path still, the earth and gravel crunching beneath her shoes. It was fairly dark by this point, so the chill of the evening air bit into the bare skin her shorts and loose crop top revealed.
“Sorry for complaining, but like. We’ve been walkin’ for a hot minute here, and I’m not seeing any houses in sight, so I’m just…'' she paused to take a break. Words were hard when one had a concussion. “Just kinda wondering if we’ll ever actually get to your far-far-away abode, y’know?”
“We’re almost there,” he assured her, and she could’ve sworn he squeezed her hand, but she really wasn’t sure. She might’ve imagined it. Actually, she probably imagined it. Almost certainly.
Which, side note, but why was he still holding her hand? They weren’t exactly walking side by side, no, but she was close enough behind him to where he didn’t really need to lead her anywhere.
Before she could formulate the words to question it, however, a wall came into view. A very high wall. Perhaps ten feet? Mabel didn’t know; she’d never been great at math. Sue her. It was stone, it looked like, but it was difficult to tell for certain because it was covered in ivy from top to bottom.
“You see?” He smiled at her slightly. “We’re there.”
The road they were walking beside appeared to end at a very large, ornate wrought iron gate that the wall-slash-fence appeared to house, and beyond that lay a driveway, leading to…
A… castle? It certainly looked like a castle. It was very very tall, and she couldn’t see much, but it definitely looked like a castle.
She sped up her pace a bit so she could match his long strides and poke him lightly on the arm. He looked down at her with mild amusement, it looked like. “Hey, uh…” he raised his eyebrows at her. “Is that where you live?”
“Yes, that’s why we’re here,” he said as if it were obvious. As if anyone living in a goddamn castle in the year of our lord 2019 was an obvious conclusion for somebody to jump to.
She noticed that some of his hair had fallen from its slicked back style and was falling over his birthmark. She wondered what it would look like down. She wondered what it would feel like. She wondered- no no no, bad Mabel, very bad, he’s not your Dipper!
“So…” she trailed off for a second. “Just to be clear, so we’re like, one-hundred-and-ten percent on the same page here, you live in a castle. Have… have I got that right, oooorrrrrr…?”
“If you consider this a castle, then yes, I suppose.” Not Dipper was looking down at her again, and he looked like he found her surprise quite funny. Which she didn’t exactly appreciate, but y’know. Beggars can’t choose their rescuers and all that.
They’d finally reached the gate, and it appeared to have a very large G in very fancy cursive on it.
He pressed his thumb to an electronic pad. The gate creaked open, and he strolled through it, pulling her along after him. It closed again as soon as they went through, and she found herself looking around every way she could without making herself all dizzy again.
They navigated around what appeared to be a hedge maze (that she would later discover was also in the shape of a giant cursive G), and it was several more minutes before they reached the overly tall wooden doors.
It wasn’t until he pushed the door open, taking his hand from hers in the process, that she realized he’d never let go of her hand. He’d been holding it the entire time, and she’d never even noticed.

The Signal, Part 1
BRAAANG! BRAAANG!
Ms. Johansson rubbed the drowsiness out of her eyes, reaching for the bleating phone. She had anticipated that the weekend would bring some busy sets of callers, but this one began rattling the phone off the hook the second her foot entered her office.
Of course. Typical, with my luck I’ll get the eager ones rather than letting me wake up in the morning first.
She grabbed it, clearing her throat slightly as she enunciated “Hello, California Child Protection Services, Mia Johansson speaking. Can I help you?”
The voice across the line caused her to shiver; In her line of work, she’d encountered all manners of metaphorical monsters, and defended and shielded as many kids as she could manage from them. Still, none of them caused the little hairs on the back of her neck to prick like this, and she felt herself glancing towards the shadowed corners of her office in the early morning, the sound of voices outside her door sounding distant and muted.
“’Ullo, guardian,” the voice said, sounding like the…man?… on the other end greeting a friend. “I know of where the they have fled, the naive child and the fool, the ones named for the trees who have eluded you.”
Mia was on edge, but the news about the location of runaway children had her focused and quashing the little nagging voice telling her to get as far away from the phone in her hand and the unnerving voice on the other end as she could.
It took her a moment, but then the riddle of a line clicked into focus. “Pines? You have knowledge about the whereabouts of the Pines twins?”
“Of course.”
Remembrance of the date hit Mia, and she slumped back, her excitement dwindling into a huff of frustration. She took a breath, gingerly holding the phone as she replied “That’s great. Let me know, and I’ll pass the information on to the state patrol; They turned 18 recently, and so are out of our jurisdiction.”
She managed to keep what she believed was all of the bitterness out of her voice, but still she heard a tutting noise as the voice replied “What a shame, what a shame. Regardless, their location is yours.”
The administrator doe for a pen, grabbing it and a rogue pad of sticky notes as the voice spoke again. She frowned, writing down what he said but feeling more and more like this was just a damn prank as she got not an address, but a damn riddle and an eerie one at that.
“A village was built near the end of the trail,
Protections were raised, and all of them failed,
Teeth have gone missing in their house of deceit,
And when one more is given, their pain is complete.
Three are the spirits, yet two are the flesh,
One more is adrift, amongst all the rest,
The watcher beyond, the listener’s seat,
All shall be felled like a harvest of wheat.”
Mia kept as much of a groan of frustration out of her voice as she could, and nearly hissed into the phone.
“That’s not a location, you jackass. That’s a bit of Shakespearean horror. I need a place, a name.”
“The Molala called it Matka Was Ya’i. Modoc called it the site of a great evil. But your modern tongue would call it by another name: Gravity Falls.”
Then the line went dead, and she swore, hanging up the receiver and looking over the scribbled message on the pad. Eyes narrowing, she yanked it off, pulling out a file from her desk marked ‘Pines’ and sticking it to the security-cam photograph of the two of them, hand-in-hand in front of a convenience store in Seattle.
“Same damn place as before? Or are they elsewhere, and our tip had news of where they were going next?”
“Either way, this is a job for the state patrol to enjoy, and for me to finally be able to file away.”
She massaged some feeling and sense into her temples after replacing the phone, and fruitlessly hoped for a quiet rest of her morning.
“Director McCorkle? We’ve got it, sir.”
“Does it match the signature profile?” The voice was insistent, pleading almost behind the perfectly-composed manner. Internally, though,a dark streak of frustration that had long simmered finally relieved some tension. Finally, we officially know what I’ve known for half a century. But now, this time, we can act.
“Yessir. Loud and clear, with a better than 95% match. This dwarfs even the signals we got in ‘81, and all the noise we were getting in 2012. It’s him all right.” The second voice was newer, less experienced, but sure as stone and with a note of both excitement and anticipation. He leaned back, out of the way of the monitor and the little wavy line shown bright as day across the front of it. Above and below it, various algorithms confirmed his statement.
“It’s Pact.”
Then his supervisor stepped forward, leaning a bit on the old cane of hers, the black orb of the grip shining dully in the light despite its scratches. She shifted in the uncomfortable suit, ignoring it for the sake of decorum, and a wide grin split across her wrinkled face. She patted the man on the shoulder, murmuring a bit of glowing praise.
“Good job. He’s a slippery bastard; Every time before has been like nailing jello to a wall, but that voice recognition system your predecessor installed worked brilliantly.”
She took a step backwards as the man went to work, and behind the thick rimmed glasses, she blinked back a sudden tear. No, not yet. You can celebrate when it’s over, and not a damned minute earlier missy.
Still, she felt the tear escape anyways as her grin crinkled, her fingers tracing the familiar square outline inside of her suit’s interior pocket.
I’ve almost got you back.

There once was a little heart. It beat for a living. It's job was to keep the Princess of Arendelle alive. Despite once being completely frozen solid, it had managed to do a fine enough job for nineteen years. However, the sad truth was this little heart thought it had a much grander purpose to life. It was very aware of this. It went as far as to make it quite clear to the body it supplied, constantly reminding its Princess there was more to living than love.
