Begin by mixing two cups of flour with a little water, using both hands to knead until the dough is smooth and pliable. Divide the dough into small portions, roll each into a ball, and press them flat with your palms. Roll each flattened dough ball on a floured surface, turning and adding more flour as needed to prevent sticking. Heat ghee on a tawa (griddle) and carefully flip the rolled dough onto it, allowing it to cook until it bubbles and then flipping it again. Once cooked, apply a little ghee to the finished roti and repeat the process for the remaining dough portions.

How to Make Roti Dough in a Food Processor
Preparation of dough for the roti the traditional way is a tough task. However, one can use the quick way of making roti dough in a food processor. Let us take a look at this simple method so that you can always enjoy a nice homemade roti with all your meals. For most, Roti is one of the earliest and most basic versions of unleavened flatbreads. In certain regions, it is also known as âphulka or the classic chapattiâ.
Roti is prepared using only two ingredients: wheat flour and water. However, it still requires perfect dough preparation and a few minor tricks for these ingredients to work their magic as expected.Â
However, with the standard quantity of flour and water to be mixed using a food processor can offer you relief from the major chore of kneading the perfect dough. Let's take a look:
Utensils:
Food processor (not blender)
Rolling pin
Skillet or Tawa
Ingredients:
3 cups whole wheat flour
1+1/2 cups iced water
extra flour for dusting
HOW TO PREPARE:
Pour the flour into the food processor and shut the lid.Â
Start the processor at first at high speed.
Next Start pouring iced water in a thin stream slowly through the opening provided on the lid of the food processor.Â
By this time after pouring all 1+1/2 cups of water, the dough will form a neat ball.
Turn the processor off.Â
The entire process takes about 2 minutes.
Now Take the dough out of the food processor and keep it covered with a plastic wrap in the fridge till you are required to use it.Â
This can be kept for two days.
Now Heat a skillet on medium heat.Â
Next Dust the worktop with some flour.
Form the dough balls, slightly smaller than the tennis ball by rolling the dough between the palms of your hand.Â
Flatten a dough ball on your worktop and roll it out into as thin and even as possible.
The skillet should be hot enough before you place the roti on, or it can stick to the skillet. Spread the roti on the skillet and give it 30 seconds before you turn it.
Now Cook the other side for a slightly longer time. Wait till you find tiny brown marks all over it.
CONCLUSION
So, there you have it friends, these are the tips required to follow when you need to prepare rotis using a food processor.Â
