Self portraiture I: As discussed in the post, almost all photos taken voluntarily are essentially self-portraits. Why is it so? Well, this hypothesis is based on the fact that we all are conditioned by our societies through various factors like culture, religion, language, and so on. On the other hand, our personal experiences such as traumas, family environment, ambitions, hopes, and disappointments also shape our personality. This becomes crucial in photography because all these factors influence how we perceive the outer world and see it through our cameras. This means that our subject selection, camera angles, and lens preferences are guided by our psychological programming. In short, all the photos that we take contain a part of our personality, making them self-portraits. And, it doesn't have to have our face or body in the frame.
