Missed Mile Markers:
Welcome to Missed Mile Markers! šŸŒæšŸ“ø
Hello and welcome,
Iā€™m thrilled youā€™ve found your way here! Iā€™m a quirky, humorous, and enthusiastic photographer, capturing the beauty of Coloradoā€™s parks and wildlife. Originally, I come from a background in internet security and technologyā€”specializing in DevOps, infrastructure, and optimizationā€”and I dabble in programming. But hereā€™s where things get interesting: Iā€™m also colorblind.
The Beauty of Seeing Differently
Being colorblind is at the core of how I experience and share the world through photography. I donā€™t edit my photos, and hereā€™s why: if I were to edit them for my eyes, they just wouldnā€™t look right to most people. The warmth, the balanceā€”it would all be off! My goal is to capture moments that stand out in my mindā€™s eye. If it catches my attention, then I figure for those who see color as it truly is, youā€™ll often be treated to something exquisite. Seeing differently means seeing something truly unique.
Here are some examples as how things look to me.
Here are edited photos that begin to depict how I observe the world. The bottom one is the normal photo which is unedited. The top 2 photographs are edited to so you can begin to understand how I see the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That is a big difference, or so I am told.....
No Formal Training, Just Passion
I have no formal photography training. Everything I know comes from reading, learning, and then simply getting out there and experimentingā€”like that classic advice, "always shoot into the sun"ā€¦ just kidding, never shoot into the sun, unless you want to! šŸ˜„
A Lesson in Color: Unedited, Unfiltered
Take these two photos, for instanceā€”both unedited, taken at the same time with the same settings, yet the difference in colors amazes me every time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The difference in the above photos are slight positional differences, and slight variation in time (maybe seconds). However the only difference I see is the one on the left looks darker....
The variations remind me why I prefer not to edit my photos. To me, thereā€™s beauty in capturing a scene as it is, without my colorblindness adjusting the reality of it.
Interested in My Work?
I do sell my photographs, and in most cases, Iā€™m more than happy to allow them to be used in creative works. If thatā€™s something youā€™re interested in, just shoot me a DMā€”Iā€™d love to chat more!
Thanks for visiting, and I hope you enjoy seeing the world through my eyes.

I love creating Egyptian themed artworks , there's always such a presence about the peace of work. And the eyes, always those eyes are watching you.
There will definitely be more Egyptian work in the future, but very soon I will finally be showing The Lost Boy Of Venice finally finished.

ā€˜At Homeā€™ explores the artistā€™s T4T relationship in moments of admiration. A story of queer joy, their existence together validates and affirms one another. Transcending typical levels of respect, solidarity, and understanding.
Through these moments, they exude gender euphoria, away from cis-heteronormative society.
Together they rest from the world others have created. Theyā€™re at home.
this is a new & ongoing project that iā€™m really relishing in. instagram.com/ajslens

#101
Itā€™s six in the evening. The villain knows this from the telltale sound of plastic scraping against the wooden floor. The sound is accompanied by the undeniably incredible smell of food.
They donā€™t bother turning their gaze from the windowā€”they can see the hero in the reflection anyway. They nudge the tray into the room as far as they dare, lingering awkwardly on the threshold for a moment.
ā€œFinding everything okay?ā€ they ask after an unbearably thick silence.
ā€œFound everything but my morality,ā€ the villain retorts flatly. ā€œKeeping me in here wonā€™t make me a goody two-shoes like you, yā€™know.ā€
The villain had expected worse; concrete floors, metal bars. But here they are, in a plush bed, looking out to the beautiful scenery beyond, a goddamn lasagne sitting on a plate for them.Ā
ā€œWas compassion not a good enough reason to have you in here the first three times?ā€ the hero asks, their voice halfway between confused and joking. ā€œI get the impression you like it though, seeing as you havenā€™tā€¦ left this room.ā€
The villain scoffs. ā€œEscaped, you mean.ā€
ā€œLeft,ā€ the hero corrects. ā€œYouā€™re notā€¦ locked in here, you know.ā€
The villain finally snaps their gaze from the window. The hero flinches slightly at the speed of it. ā€œWhat?ā€
ā€œYouā€™re not locked in here.ā€ The hero shifts on their feet restlessly. ā€œDid you never even try the door?ā€
Itā€™s too embarrassing to admit that it was too nice here to bother trying to leave. ā€œI like to get my escapes right first time. I wonā€™t try it until I need to.ā€
ā€œRight.ā€ The hero shuffles again. ā€œWell, thereā€™s a lot of villains who know youā€™re here and have been wondering where you are.ā€
ā€œVillains like who?ā€
The hero smiles, like theyā€™ve fallen into a trap. ā€œCome outside and find out.ā€
The villain scowls at that. The hero raises their eyebrows expectantly. ā€œEat your food,ā€ they say casually. ā€œThen come say hi, okay?ā€
ā€œNo.ā€
The hero sighs, like this is a conversation theyā€™ve had a thousand times. ā€œThe doorā€™s always open,ā€ they say gently. ā€œCome see the others when you feel up to it.ā€
They linger in the doorway for a moment but the villain offers no response, so they simply sigh defeatedly and carefully shut the door.Ā
Tsch. Does the hero think theyā€™re stupid? Theyā€™d open that door and heroes would descend on them.
The day they leave this room, itā€™ll be as part of their greatest escape yet.
