Phoenix Crowns
Tumblr media
Phoenix Crowns have a long history in China. Called fengguan (鳳冠), phoenix crowns were worn by noblewomen for ceremonies, official occasions, and weddings.
The phoenix crown got its start as fengchai (鳳釵), otherwise known as phoenix hairpin. Fengchai were worn by empresses and imperial concubines starting from the time of Emperor Qin Shihuang. Eventually it would evolve from a mere hairpin to an elaborate crown decorated with precious gemstones.
Phoenix Crowns would be adorned with phoenixes made of kingfisherpins, gold dragons, beaded pheasants, pearls, and other gemstones. The number of each phoenix, dragon, and gemstone was different on each crown. Empress Xiaoduanxian’s crown (pictured above) had 3 phoenixes, 6 dragons, 5,499 pearls, 71 rubies, and 57 sapphires. These crowns would also feature 6 blades of temple ornaments, which were the wings found at the sides and backs of the crown.

Imperial Concubines and Imperial Princesses would wear similar crowns such as a jiudiguan (九翟冠, nine pheasant crown), qidiguan (七翟冠, seven pheasants crown), or a wudiguan (五翟冠, five pheasants crown). The number of pheasants on the crown indicated the individual's rank and only a Crown Princess could have temple ornaments on her crown.
Other noblewomen would the Pearl and Emerald Crown (珍珠翡翠冠, zhenzhufeicuiguan), which was decorated with pearls and gemstones. These crowns lacked the temple ornaments of the imperial women.

Okay now that we got the information that Eternity is to Storm as Phoenix is to Jean that makes their similarities make a lot more sense. However that makes my gripe with this look a bit more glaring because I really feel that her hair should be the elements and not just its usual white. Im wondering if this is her look while shes not actively using her powers or even just Eternity's idea of how she would look and not how she actually will look

🦜 Diyi | 翟衣 🦜
Is a type of historical Chinese attire worn by empresses. During the Song (960–1279) and Ming (1368–1644) dynasties, it was considered the highest form of ceremonial clothing worn by the empress. It’s worn with Fengguan (phoenix crown). It was first recorded as “Huiyi” in the Zhou dynasty (1046–256 BC).

[ no dl6 au ]
hey look, i stopped drawing angsty stuff and drew them happy for once
lil lore bit here: phoenix and miles' relationship during chapter one is very.. ambiguous? not sure if that's the right word
what i mean to say is, they're not officially dating in chapter one, but they do platonically kiss now and then. but they never really go much farther than that, which is mostly just because they're way too busy with their lives at that point.
in chapter one, miles is just now starting to take cases and is spending more and more time out of the office investigating. phoenix is busy travelling back and forth between his home in the US and his art school in germany.
plus, with the great time difference between LA and germany, there would only be a certain window of time where phoenix and miles could actually talk to each other.. if they're not busy, that is-
not saying romantic relationships like this couldn't work, but a qpp is what phoenix and miles have worked out for them.
i'm still working on script for this au, but there will be a point where one of them say that this partnership is what's best for them right now. maybe they'll go further when their lives get less hectic, or maybe they'll stay where they are.
but they know that they're happy.
which just makes chapter two and everything that plays out hurt even worse.
anyways enjoy :)

Genderswapped zucest,,,,,,little brother Azulon creeping on his big sister Zuka.......
This would be so insane though...i could totally picture azulon having a deranged fantasy of bringing back zuka to the fire nation [after crossroads of destiny in canon] so that they can get married and he can be half of the most powerful couple ruling the whole world under the glory of the fire nation.
