When the carnivore diet gets out of hand.

JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. In this Bible story, Jesus and His disciples go to rest on a mountainside, but a big crowd of followers tracks them down. They want to hear more of Jesus's cool Jesus-words and see more of Jesus's cool Jesus-deeds. Jesus asks Philip what they can feed everyone, and Philip replies incredulously that it'd cost 200 days' wages to buy everyone something little. Of course, Jesus was only testing his faith with one of His many Jesus-tricks. Then Andrew appears, escorting a kid who offers to share a few fish and some loaves of bread. Jesus accepts the food and passes some out to everyone, and somehow, there's plenty for over 5000 men (not including families that might have been with them). When Jesus asks His disciples to clean up, the leftovers fill twelve baskets -- way more than they started with. The people are all wowed, dazzled, and amused. 2. In this cartoon, I inject an extra bit of dialogue into the story. When Andrew introduces the boy, Jesus assumes Andrew is suggesting they eat the child, causing Andrew to panic until the boy clarifies his true purpose. Of course, Jesus only said this to test them, for He Himself knew what He was going to do (John 6:6), and is just being super hilarious.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: This cartoon is a Tomics "Second Coming," where I've taken an ancient comic that was already resurrected, and redraw it once again. You'll notice through these iterations that it's gone back and forth between length, but the pacing remains roughly the same throughout. The first version features my ancient desaturated style in all its boring wonder. The second features brighter colors but strangely greenish skin, and also a shorter and more to-the-point format. I think I prefer the longer version for setting a scene, but I could go either way -- and I have! Anyway, it's a very exclusive status for one of my comics to be redrawn twice. Maybe one day I'll redraw it a third time, but for now, how does it compare to its past selves?

September 9-14, 1824

Lafayette was in Manhattan

he was in Manhattan the whole time why not just do it in one post?

the evening of September 8th he went to park theater. They had a reenactment of the battle of Yorktown there for him. In fact, Lafayette visited this place 4 times during his tour!

September 9th, he visited St. Paul’s chapel and city hall park

September 10th, he visited Free School number 3 and African Free School During his tour, he will be at schools a lot. Just saying, if Lafayette was watching me write an essay. HOW CAN I CONCENTRATE ON THE EASSAY???! adopt me Lafayette. He also visited the home of Nicholas Fish, another Amrev veteran.

September 11th, Lafayette attended a performance at the Chatham Garden Theatre.

September 12th, he visited trinity church, he accompanied Eliza Hamilton to visit Hamilton and Philip’s graves.

September 14th, they had a WHOLE DAMN FESTIVAL for him in castle garden. About 5000 people attended. They also made it look like his house in France a lot (la grange) which a onlooker recalled “[Lafayette] exclaimed, ‘Oh, ma maison! La Grange! La Grange!’

As long as Harry and Meghan are listed on the Working Royals page, I will continue to say Charles is complicit in all of this. - I would like to remind you that they were there when QEII was alive. They were also there when PP was alive. And Philip died in April 2021, they left in January 2020. And ohhhhhhh my gosh I can’t even describe how o felt during the walking on water. That’s been one of my favorite Bible stores for a long time and I even wrote a song based on it once. I kept imagining this scene in my head before I watched it but I couldn’t have imagined how powerful it was. Letters from the late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret to their childhood riding instructors are to be auctioned in April, Tatler can exclusively reveal.

The collection includes Christmas cards, invitations, telegrams and handwritten notes from the late Queen and Princess Margaret to their riding instructors, father-and-daughter duo Horace and Sybil Smith.

It reveals a lifelong connection that started when the two young princesses first sat in the saddle.

Horace and Sybil Smith provided riding classes at Cadogan Riding School in Belgravia, an internationally famous institution fit for two young royals with a budding love of horses.

By 1938, 12-year-old Princess Elizabeth and 9-year-old Princess Margaret were attending lessons there, both being taught how to ride by the Smiths.

These lessons stayed with them for life: both the late Queen and Princess Margaret were keen riders, with the Queen riding on horseback at Trooping the Colour and remaining in the saddle into her 90s.

Both Princess Margaret and the Queen stayed in contact with their beloved riding teachers, the Smiths, throughout their lives.

Their letters show their deep affection for the instructors, along with gratitude for the lessons they taught them.

They sent Christmas cards almost every year, along with telegrams of thanks: the collection includes 30 Christmas cards from the mid 1940s until early 1990s.

Princess Margaret also sent them an invitation to her wedding to Anthony Armstrong Jones in 1960, and the Queen invited them to the Thanksgiving Service of her 25th wedding anniversary to Prince Philip in 1972 - both of which are included in the collection.

In 2016, the Royal Windsor Pageant had a re-enactment of the princesses receiving lessons from the Smiths as a tribute to the role they played in the lives of the young princesses.

On Sybil’s 90th birthday, Princess Margaret sent a letter which read:

‘Many happy returns of the day, and congratulations on your 90th birthday. I have never forgotten our happy riding lessons which resulted in many years of enjoyable times in the saddle. Have a lovely time. Love from, Margaret.’

In 1950, the then Princess Elizabeth sent Horace Smith a letter from Malta, where she was visiting Prince Philip.

She wrote:

‘I send my sincere thanks to you and Sybil for your message of good wishes for my birthday, which I much appreciate.

It is lovely out here and I have become a great polo fan - I even took it up mildly myself when I was out here last year.

It is extremely good for one’s riding, I find, as all the ponies are so quick that the unexpected turn, which they are inclined to do, has one off in a moment!’

Letters from the Queen and Princess Margaret to the Smiths were all kept by Sybil Smith, who passed them onto a friend when she died.

They are to be auctioned on 18 April 2023 by Griffin’s Auctioneers and Valuers based in Warwick.

The total estimate for whole collection is around £3000 to £5000.

Ben Griffin, director at Griffin’s told Tatler:

‘We are delighted to be able to offer this large and significant collection of correspondence from the late Queen and other members of the Royal family that were sent to Sybil and her father over the span of five decades.’

He added:

‘The Malta letter in particular gives an fascinating insight to the Queen's life during the earliest days of her marriage to The Duke of Edinburgh, a period she herself referred to as “the happiest days in her life”.’

“In Praise of Heroic Masculinity” by Caitlin Flanagan. The phrase “toxic masculinity” has been thrown around a lot in our culture the past several years, particularly when high-profile men use their power and strength to take advantage of women. But Atlantic writer Caitlin Flanagan argues that “If the noun masculinity can be modified by the adjective toxic, then there must exist its opposite, which can be revealed by a different adjective.” Her choice for that adjective is “heroic,” and she argues that all the talk about the wrongs men commit overlooks the fact that they often use their physical strength and courage to protect and serve the vulnerable. Heroic masculinity manifested itself big time on 9/11 as male firefighters rushed into the World Trade Center, and, Flanagan says, it shows up every day when a young man stands up for someone getting picked on at school. She argues that if we want boys to become good men, we need to talk more about their potential for heroic masculinity and show them examples of what it looks like. “Dream of Mickey Mantle” by Bleachers. Paul King did a great job of injecting whimsy in the movie without going overboard with it. It’s a great movie for the entire family, and you’ll wish you had a Paddington Bear friend in your home to eat marmalade with when you’re done.
