I am now rotating ur persona x infinity train AU in my head at mach speeds aaaaaaaa

please take this ask as an open invitation to talk about the AU as much as you want

OH MY GOSH THANK YOU!!! I have so many thoughts about this AU but some I consider "spoilers" so this will not be *everything* I've thought of.

Similar to Infinity Train proper, the structure of the story is an anthology up until The Plot Happens and the individuals we follow get stuck in one big group. While "Chapter 1's" protag is left unstated for now (though they're in a previous post of mine), "Chapter 2" follows Tulip and Futaba after an inciting incident than ends with both of them on the train.

Fun fact! This AU spawned from me wanting to have Tulip and Futaba interact. It evolved more and more as I thought about the Train and the Metaverse interacting and what could occur from that.

Because putting the two gamers together will lead to absolutely no mischief >:]

The AU takes place after the events of Royal but, at least in part, during the events of Book 2. In fact, Jesse and Lake get a bit derailed on their trip through the train (pun intended).

"If Mementos is so good, why isn't there a sequel?" said no one, ever.

Mementos is back! But what does it have to do with the train? And what's with the giant door?

Gamer.

Tulip's Metaverse outfit is inspired by techwear. She's got a tech staff that transforms its head shape based on the combat situation.

Tulip obtains her Persona in Mementos, alongside help from Futaba. How that happens I've hinted at in a past post.

A friendly denizen looking to explore the train

This is Unamed Grandfather Clock Owl, who I cannot decide a name for, but ends up accompanying Chapter 1's protagonist on their leg of the train journey. He's a wise and rather jovial denizen who wishes to see the rest of the train before "his old heart stops ticking." (Then again, he's almost 200 years young!)

I don't have a lot else to show or talk about that is non-reveal related. But I'm up for more asks if anyone would like specific details ;]

Hmmm. Let me think! I’m sure I’ll miss a lot of good ones, but some of the first to come to mind: 💪

Film: obviously LoTR. I think that was one of the category namers. Gladiator (historical fiction). V for Vendetta (speculative fiction). Mad Max Fury Road (apocalyptic sci-fi). Terminator, but mostly the original and Terminator Salvation, not every film in the series (sci-fi). Meet John Doe (contemporary fiction at the time, but to us, historical fiction). The Prince of Egypt (Abrahamic story). The Wind Rises (historical, tragic drama). Spider-Man 2 (superhero). The Sound of Music if you push it. Like the hopepunk is contained in almost exclusively Act 3 but shit is it a hell of an act (historical, musical).

Tv: 1: Unlimited Blade Works (modern fantasy/sci-if)—one of my favorite TV shows of all time, painful and beautiful, very hopepunk. Do not watch the movie watch the 2014 anime, and watch the OG Japanese audio with subs. The dub was hell. 2: Angel Beats! (Supernatural dram/tragedy/comedy) This is a very hard show—like lots of painfully sad moments, but very sweet and worth it. End is bittersweet, but good. I’ve only seen the English dub, but the dub is very quality. 3: Infinity Train [seasons 2 and 3] (sci-fi, cosmic horror). 4: Tomorrow (supernatural, K Drama) — really good, watching it right now, Doctor Who (all of Doctor 9 and 10 at least much of his run),

Books: Any Terry Pratchett, but Night Watch probably top ranking, or maybe Small Gods (fantasy). LoTR again. The Shining Company (historical fiction) (a lot of her books are). Good Omens (supernatural fiction). Revolution (historical fantasy). 

Games: Days Gone (zombie apocalypse, work of art), Persona 5 Royal (speculative fiction, also a work of art), Kingdom Hearts (at least some of them, fantasy), arguably S4 of TWDG (zombie apocalypse), Determinately either Wolf Among Us (fantasy) or DBH (sci-fi) by dent of being decision based branching games.

Podcast: Nightavle through Stexcorp arc at least. TAZ Balance (fantasy, d&d podcast). Hello from the Hallowoods (ongoing, supernatural horror).

Comic: Bronze Age X-Men especially, I’m a huge fan of. If you’re interested in some of the really good ideas and meta that came with X-Men but don’t do comics, the best adaptation I’ve seen yet is X-Men Evolution, and I think that’s available to stream (superhero, sci-fi, social justice). Bone (fantasy).

Music: The Trans Siberian Orchestra album Beethoven's Last Night (album, rock opera, historical fiction), Les Miserables (musical, historical fiction). 

It also depends on how broadly you define the genre. I think of anything fitting into “Antithesis of GrimDark. Stories where the world is cruel and unfair and brutal any maybe on a grand scale, unchangeable, but combatting that and living and loving is deeply precious and meaningful despite, or in some cases even more so, because of that.” Some people might categorize The Wind Rises, for example, as Historical, Drama, Tragedy, but not as Hope Punk. I would call it that though. I hope that the list is still a good one for you. If you want only the most true-blue Hope Punk, I could give you a shorter list too.

So now what?

I have read through all your lovely submissions and am happy to say that 47 spots in the 64 slot bracket have been filled. All these characters had multiple submissions.

I have also excluded some submissions for characters who I didn't think qualified and sadly won't be in the next round of polls.

The remaining 145 characters will participate in preliminary rounds to see who will make it into the actual bracket. Each round will feature a couple characters and the one who gets the most votes will make it into the official bracket. (One of these preliminary rounds is the Favorites Round which has a couple of my favorites because I want to see at least one of them get in. Yes I am biased.)

I'm allowing a maximum of 2 characters per franchise. Any characters who already have 2 characters of the same franchise in the bracket have also been excluded from the preliminary rounds.

Preliminary rounds will be posted Thursday, May 11 and last only 24 hours. I'm planning for the official bracket to begin Saturday, May 13.

Random question but

Do you have any favourite games/TV shows or any other fandom?

Also who are your favourite characters to fatten up ?

Wow am I glad u asked! Here we go...

Some of my favorite games are Dragon Age Inquisition, The Last of Us, Persona 5, The Stanley Parable (among other walking simulators), Pathologic 2, Silent Hill 2, and Fire Emblem Three Houses. 

Off the top of my head, my favorite TV shows/animes include Eyewitness, One Punch Man, Baccano!, Hunter x Hunter, Good Omens, Infinity Train, and Hannibal. Also, season 1 of Westworld. 

I’ve been in a ton of fandoms over the years, including several infamous ones, but I won’t list them all lmao. I must retain some dignity. 

I usually have at least one character per fandom who I like to imagine getting fat. Sometimes two, sometimes none. For a long time, I’ve been trying to discern a pattern with the characters I like imagining gaining weight. Currently I have 3 theories. All three are likely true.

The 1st theory is that I like fattening characters who are already either prone to stress or canonically enjoy eating/eat too much. Them getting fat seems like the natural order of things. I am also a big slut for characters being “destined" to become fat.

The 2nd theory is that I like to fatten characters whose traits I identify with. It’s nice to write about a fictional character I can project onto to do whatever they want and become overweight since I don’t feel that same freedom. 

The 3rd theory is that if a fictional pretty boy with long orange hair exists, I want to love them and fatten them up. Elliot from Stardew, Ferdinand from Fire Emblem, Gust from Portia, idk why, but it’s one of my favorite character designs, and they need to be fed and teased until they are docile and obese.

A Follow Up Post for the English Voice Casting of Mr Osomatsu

Okay so I'm doing a part 2 cause the last post didn't mention all the best roles Billy, Ray, Sean, Kyle, Michael and Max did as voice actors.

First up is Billy Kametz as my personal favorite, Osomatsu. What roles has he done? How about everybody's favorite pretty boy delinquent with the stylish hair, Josuke Higashikata from JJBA: Diamond is Unbreakable. Like isekai? He is Naofumi from Rising of the Shield Hero. Love watching anything by Studio Trigger? He's the number 1 firefighting idiot, Galo from Promare. He's also Anai from Aggretsuko, Macaque in Monkie Kid, Rui from Demon Slayer, Dr. Maruki from Persona 5 Royal, Nenji Ogata from 13 sentinels, Asmodeus Alice in Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun and Ferdinand Von Aegir from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Next up is the totally painful cool Karamatsu (and Dekapan), played by Ray Chase. Interestingly enough, he does a couple of Nakamura Yuichi's other roles, one of them being Bruno Bucciarati from JJBA: Golden Wind, He also does Ryoumen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, Roswaal L. Mathers in Re: ZERO, Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV, Puri Puri Prisoner in One Punch Man, Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer, and for those who like Smash Bros, he does the voice of Roy from the Fire Emblem games. (He also did the voice of that subway announcer in Persona 5)

Next we have Sean Chiplock as the nerdy straightman, Choromatsu. For those unfamiliar with his work, he did the voice of Subaru from Re:ZERO, Ishimaru and Monotaro from the Danganronpa franchise, Shin from Dorohedoro, Kazunari Takao in Kuroko's Basketball, Daewi Han in God of Highschool, Frankenstein in Noblesse, Revali from Zelda: Breath of the Wild and my favorite role he's done, Mista from JJBA: Golden Wind! I'm so glad he was chosen to replace the old actor, I'm much more familiar with his voice work anyway.

Oh boy, we got another talented voice actor that's had a lot of great roles. Kyle McCarley is the voice of our favorite emo cat boy; Ichimatsu, but you might also know him as Mob from Mob Psycho 100, 9S in NieR Automata, Ei Sekigahara in 13 Sentinels, Kusuo Saiki from Saiki K. Reawakened, Shinji Matou in the Fate/Stay Night, Simon from Infinity Train, Ryo in Devilman Crybaby, Yushiro in Demon Slayer, Collot in Beastars, Red Blood Cell in Cells At Work: Code Black, Red Son in Monkie Kid, Narancia in JoJo's Bizzare Adventure and a bunch of more roles. If only the last two were major JoJo characters.

Well, Michael Sinterniklaas did appear in Jojo in a minor role towards the end of part 2. Aside from playing as the goofy and loud Jyushimatsu, he is also the voice of Mikey Simon from Kappa Mikey, a teenage mutant ninja turtle named Leonardo, Funshine Bear in Care Bears, Dean Venture from the Venture Bros, a show I recommend for those who like adult comedies like Mr. Oso. Aside from cartoons, he's done a lot of anime stuff too, some of it goes all the way back to the 90s with his first role being Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura. He's also Netherlands in Hetalia, Sora in Naruto Shippuden, Moritaka Mashiro in Bakuman, Dagger in Black Butler: Book of Circus and additional voices for a LOT of anime. He's probably a background character in your favorite show, like JoJo's, Naruto or One Piece.

Last but not least we have the only actor that hasn't done anything in JoJo, Max Mittelman. That's fine, because aside from the cute two-faced Todomatsu, he's also the laid-back hero for fun, Saitama from One Punch Man. He's also Ryuji Sakamoto in the Persona 5 games, Tee in Puyo Puyo Tetris, King in Deadly Seven Sins, Meruem in Hunter x Hunter, Kousei Arima in Your Lie in April, Plagg in Miraculous Ladybug, Ritsu Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100, Atsushi Nakajima in Bungou Stray Dogs, Resasuke in Aggretsuko and the list goes on.

There that's about all of them, I'm sorry this post took so long. But I was busy with other things, so taking the time to make this post was gonna take a while. But I'm glad I made it because now everyone can learn more about the english voices behind these brothers the way I did with their seiyuus.
