I'll be cosplaying 3rd semester Goro this month, but the bangs on my Goro wig is too long and annoying so I trimmed it. This is my very first time styling a wig so I don't think I did a good job but meh- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So every year I make a new cosplay for Halloween since I don’t have the time or money to go to conventions and for the last two years I’ve tried styling wigs and I have learned to despise it.

Last year I did a Nagito cosplay, and by the gods that shit was absolute hell.

And then this year I made the terrible choice to wait until literally the last possible day to style the wig for my persona 5 Joker cosplay.

Why do I do this to myself.

Lucien invited Tamlin out to play a game. It was not at all what Tamlin expected.

(Tamlin is a famous actor while Lucien is an up-and coming guitarrist)

Kind of fits the game prompt but is mostly just something silly that popped into my head while in the shower

Tamlin sat in the audience, waiting for some kind of show that Lucien claimed he was putting on. He had been so tight-lipped about it that Tamlin was mildly suspicious-and curious. What had the foxy boy brought him to?

The curtains opened, and a small man in a flamboyant purple suit and a thick mustache announced, ��Welcome to the Tamlin Wallace lookalikes contest!”

Tamlin blinked. A lookalike competition? He’d heard of these. The lookalike that looked the most similar to the actual person won the award. At least, that was the idea. Lady Gaga had entered her own lookalike competition. Tamlin was tempted to do the same.

Each Tamlin imitator strutted once across the stage. Tamlin was so shocked to see the ridiculous outfits that he doubled over laughing, missing several contestants.

After a few minutes, Tamlin decided to enter the competition too. After all, he was Tamlin; who looked more like Tamlin than him? He snuck to the entrance backstage, where two bodyguards looked him over.

“I want to enter the lookalike competition,” Tamlin said. One of them looked him over and sighed.

“Fine, but only because your costume is good,” one said. Tamlin was tempted to laugh. This wasn’t a fucking costume.

Tamlin was last in line with three contestants in front of him yet to go. He laughed softly to himself. This was probably the most ridiculous thing he had ever done.

A few moments after the contestant in front of him walked across the stage, Tamlin entered. The stage lights were extremely bright, and he felt uncomfortable seeing the audience. It was one thing acting in movies where the only audience was the people working on the movie, but a live performance? He could not channel his movie persona.

When Tamlin walked back inside, the announcer began to call out the finalists.

“Contestant 5!” Cheers. “Contestant 21! Contestant 24! and Contestant 28!”

That was him! Why was he so excited? It would’ve been strange if he didn’t make it to the final round of a lookalike contest of himself.

Tamlin’s jaw dropped when he saw who the other finalists were.

Was that Lucien and his friends??? Tamlin had to try very hard not to laugh.

Vassa honestly looked so good. She was dressed as a soldier from Tamlin’s part in The Cruel Prince movie. Full golden chain-mail armor, with blonde hair (a wig, tamlin guessed) tied back in a ponytail. Complete with long boots, Vassa pointed her sword at the audience, mimicking one of the most iconic moments. She had even worn green eye-contacts.

Then there was Jurian. He had fully embraced the lion look. Tamlin had once played the voice of an animated lion named Citron, so that explained the costume. Jurian wore an enormous overcoat made from (hopefully) fake orange fur. He had even got his nails done with huge dark brown claws that he was wiggling around. He had grown out his facial hair, making him look truly fearsome. Though he didn’t need facial hair for that; Jurian was a firefighter-turned model after his rescue of an orphanage went viral. Everyone had a crush on him.

And then there was Lucien. Tamlin’s jaw dropped. He looked so fucking hot cosplaying as him. He was dressed as Tamlin’s role in The Secret Letter, a period piece he had done. Only he was much hotter than Tamlin recalled himself being in that movie. His jacket and shirt were unbuttoned a little, showing a bit of his muscular chest. A corset was cinched around his waist. He wore tight brown pants that emphasized his huge thighs, and knee-high boots. An old-fashioned gun was strapped to his belt while he held a rose in one hand. He wore a wig of white-blonde hair that almost went down to the floor. Tamlin was fairly certain his hair was never that long, but he suddenly wished it was. A flower crown lay lopsided on his head. Like Vassa, he wore green eye-contacts.

Lucien had his other hand on his hip, and when he winked at the crowd, everyone cheered. Tamlin suddenly felt very underdressed in his turtleneck and jeans. Why was everyone better at being him than he was?

“And the winner is… Contestant 21!” The announcer declared. Tamlin had to laugh. He had lost his own lookalike competition to his boyfriend. Lucien turned around and smirked at Tamlin.

“The real Tamlin is with us tonight,” he announced. The crowd went into a hushed silence. Then Lucien strutted up to Tamlin.

“You make a very sexy me,” Tamlin murmured, then blushed at his own boldness. Lucien grinned. “What can I say? I know you very well, Tam.”

“I like you better as you, though,” Tamlin said. Then he pulled off Lucien’s wig and kissed him..

Max wasn’t a nerd, but he did like Pokemon. Looking at Pokemon shit on TikTok didn’t make him a nerd. 

Everyone liked Pokemon! Everyone grew up with Pokemon and wanted a relationship with their pet like Ash had with Pikachu. And most people liked Pokemon Go, especially Max, since it gave him a nice excuse to not be in the house.

Either way, scrolling through Pokemon stuff and going down a rabbit hole of Pokemon cosplays didn’t make him a nerd. 

The person he was stuck on right now went by the name Rocket or “Rocky”, which he assumed was a reference to their first cosplay: James from Team Rocket. Which was also the first one that Max saw.

The third video on their account was one of him in both a Jesse and a James cosplay, doing the Team Rocket opening. 

(Max might’ve watched that video about seven or eight times, entranced by how amazing the cosplays were)

The most remarkable thing about any of Rocky’s cosplays was the makeup. With white eye-liner making his eyes look bigger and more like an anime character, and contour depeaning their features, and everything accented the colour of his contacts and the shade of his wig. 

Max scrolled through about half their content in two hours, everything ranging from Pokemon to Persona 5 to JuJutsu Kaisen and Bungo Stray Dogs. Max didn’t know what most of those were, but the cosplayer made them look so beautiful and interesting. Despite the fact that Max didn’t know any of the characters, he was always heartbroken through every angst post. 

Ones that really got to him were characters named ‘Atsushi,’ and ‘Akutagawa.’ Admittedly, Akutagawa reminded him of himself, and how much he wanted to please the Dazai that was his father. 

Apparently Rocky liked Dazai, which Max just did not understand; he did not seem like a likeable character. Hell, the character himself did not like himself— from what Max saw, it looked like his whole personality was suicide and killing. 

A video of Rocky dressed like ‘PM Dazai’ essentially flirting with the camera, captioned ‘POV: You’re literally anyone in the Port Mafia,’ made Max blush. He’d never ever admit that, but wow. Who knew a dark wig, brown contacts, a suit, and bandages could be so charming. 

Max liked his ‘Rin Okumura’ cosplay, which looked like he used his natural eyes and hair for. 

Well, not natural hair, but his actual hair. His hair was dyed a dark blue, but Max could tell it wasn’t a wig because of the shaved sides beneath the hair. 

He looked kind of familiar, but he was just… he was kind of just a white guy with blue eyes and short hair. And Max wasn’t great with faces generally, it was probably just another white guy. 

Max laughed loudly when he found Rocky’s Hatsune Miku cosplay, and smiled at the caption that said ‘look… my friends kept harassing me about cosplaying her, and they bought everything for it, so i guess i owed it to them.’

Not that it was the first time seeing Rocky in shorts, but Max did quite like the Hatsune Miku cosplay too. 

Rocky seemed to be most proud of his ‘Sigma’ and ‘Nikolai’ cosplays. Which, when Max looked up pictures of the characters, he decided that yes, Rocky should be proud of them. They were both very personalised, and Rocky did an amazing job of making Nikolai look as deranged as he did in the show— according to a few gifs Max saw. 

Sigma made Max sad, but wow Rocky was so pretty. With shimmery eyeshadow and coloured lashes that matched Sigma’s split hair, and beautiful lavender contacts that exposed just enough of Rocky’s natural blue eyes to compliment them perfectly. 

The first night Max had seen Rocky’s account, he didn’t end up getting to sleep until about 2 am.

From there, he kept up on his account. 

In every video, Rocky was so amazing and beautiful, and Max who wasn’t in any way interested in cosplay and cosplaying but anyone would be able to tell how much passion and dedication was put into every character. 

Just looking at him made him smile. 

He left one comment and a few likes, despite watching dozens of videos. He didn’t want to spam like and get Rocky shadow-banned. 

‘I don’t give a shit about anime, but you look fantastic. Just wow.’

And he finally went to bed.

In the morning, he had a notification; a response from Rocky. 

‘... What? How did you get here??? Wtf??’

Max laughed. 

‘Idk, but I like it here.’

The response came fairly quickly. 

‘Okay I guess?’

“Hey, so you guys know my online self, Rocky?” Richie asked, stabbing the sub-par cafeteria food with his flimsy plastic fork.

“Sure,” Pete responded. 

“Yeah, still waiting for you to invite me to film with you,” Ruth pouted.

“After you get the headgear off,” Richie dismissed. He swallowed and leaned closer to his friends. “Max Jagerman found my account.”

I asked a friend of mine, “Which Persona character do I remind you of the most?”, they responded with “Ren from Persona 5, don’t know why though”.

So I made do with whatever I had at home and copied Ren’s winter outfit. What do you think?

In all seriousness, this looks good! All you'd need is a wig and you'd look pretty damn 1-to-1. Not many characters I could convincingly cosplay using the stuff I have lying around...

I mean, Akechi is my favorite character from persona 5 (even if he is a little silly) so I though "hey there's this next anime event coming around, might be interesting to cosplay as Akechi just for funsies" lol. I still have to buy the wig though, but that's pretty easy to get here!

And, uhhhh, technically winter already started. But the weather in Brazil is always a mess as all these days it has been warm and not at all cold 🤡. Still, it should get colder the next few days. Well, I hope. I bought a lot of beautiful clothes that I want to wear.

Aside from that, I'm pretty good. Still have a last assignment to submit and after that the holidays will start, so I'll take advantage to write plenty of ideas I had >:D

Oh look it’s another post I meant to make months ago but then forgot! This is my annual cosplay for Halloween. This year I did Joker from persona 5, in his Dancing Starlight outfit. I painted the shirt by hand, styled the wig (badly, but I did it all in one night the night before Halloween so cut me some slack), and hand sewed the jacket. I never did manage to finish the jacket - I never painted on the chest pocket emblem. But otherwise I think I did pretty great!
