Six Sentence Sunday Monday

@impishbiscuit tagged me forever ago, and I just started a new WIP lolsob, so here are six (five) sentences fresh off the google docs. This is for a prompt (I submitted) in WoNC and I really thought I'd be writing for Ted & Becca, but it seems that Mitch and Val have moved back in. 😌

Mitch paces beside the panzer, pulling hard on the cigarette in his flesh fingers. He hasn’t seen V yet this morning, other than when he left a cup of coffee for her while she was still asleep in his bed— his face flushes at the memory of her sprawled across the double mattress, breasts peeking out under the thin sheet. He’s not sure what to expect from her now. She’d made it clear it was just for the evening, that she was just seeking comfort and she trusted him enough to be the source of that comfort. He tells himself if that’s all it was, it’s enough that she trusted him like that; he knows he’s lying.

modern family is all fun and games until you get to the scenes where you burst into tears because the once-vaguely homophobic dad now refers to his son's husband as family, and also the academically gifted daughter realizes that her dorky, clumsy dad was always really proud of her and just never surprised because he just assumed she could do anything, and also the eldest daughter who eloped comes crawling back to her parents' room and whispers that she still wants her parents to be present for her wedding, and also the anxious queer lawyer character admits that he was terrified that his husband would just leave him alone with their baby daughter, and also that the once-vaguely grouchy dad looks at his stepson and tells him that what makes a family is who sticks around, not who you're blood-related to and anyways what was i saying

THIS IS MY KIND OF ASK. Prefacing this with a Mitchy sketch:

I genuinely have no bad things to say about The Firm, it's a very good film! I'd rank it in my top 10 Cruise films and I even have a poster of it on my wall!!! Mitchell Y. McDeere is very important to me.

I haven't read the novel yet so my only reference of the story is the film, so just putting that out there before I get into what I particularly love about this film LOL 1. Mitch and Abby's relationship is genuinely such a strong part of the film. I maintain that the film wouldn't have worked as well if Abby had been given less importance as a character. And when Abby decides to come back to Mitch, you really do get the feeling that she was given the space and time to do that herself rather than being forced into it. I love them, they're a wonderful couple <3 Communication and forgiveness wins 2. Something I don't see a lot of people talk about is Avery. Yeah, he's a weird guy and he's Lowkey a creep to Abby, but I was eating up the implications that Avery used to be just like Mitch before the Firm dug its claws into him. Avery is what Mitch's future would have looked like if Mitch hadn't gotten out and it ups the stakes for me the tiniest bit 3. The entire final act. Delicious. Tom Cruise running for his life and then looking like a sad wet dog while speaking to the Moroltos. How could you ask for more . 4. Just in general, every character feels so Distinct in a way a lot of films don't manage. I think about Ray and Tammy way too often 5. HEARSAY!!!!! NEED I SAY MORE

speaking of fucked up overly hated female twdg characters i find it Super Interesting how people will say carver was the best villain in the whole series, but when lilly is literally just a successful carver (iron fist leader of a community turning children into soldiers) suddenly shes a bad/lame villain for some reason 🤔
