I hate ads so much but they are actually really essential to the worldbuilding in Tiger & Bunny. It showcases how the heroes are exploited by their sponsors and Hero TV to sell products and entertain which is prioritized over saving lives. The spectacle is more important to draw in ratings. The heroes' efforts to rescue people in danger is constantly being monitored and controlled by the showrunners at Hero TV. heck they can only BE heroes if their sponsors are pleased--the heroes are instructed to have the logos visible when on screen as much as possible. The heroes being plastered in logos is vital to the story and I think them using actual irl companies vs. fictional companies (not counting the in-universe ones like Apollon) makes this more obvious bc we the viewers recognize them. I think it's actually pretty clever and probably one of the least annoying product placements I've seen in a show bc for the majority of these brands it's just the logos on the hero suits--the only product I recall being explicitly shown off is Pepsi with Blue Rose in the first season opening credits and in The Beginning when she is performing and straight up talks about Pepsi before drinking a bottle lmao. It's even kinda sadder with her bc she only became a hero to help start her music career (there's the whole episode in season 1 about that). Is there any things you recommend to start learning about cars? Especially from a complete beginner standpoint

hi hi hi anon!! first of all thank you so much for asking this question and second of all: I binge youtube, and go to car shows. And play videogames.

A little bit of (disclaimer?) info is that I was never really allowed to do anything in my life, and that included driving and working on anything mechanical. We're still in that phase of getting out this box and branching out, so in a sense, we're both beginners on this together :)

Youtube - So there's a lot of youtube channels out there that talk about cars (and of course other automotives) my picks are the really silly funny ones. I personally watch MartiniWorks, spearheaded by Alex Martini. This channel is mainly focused on history and drama and of course useless fun facts about cars I wish I can afford. He has builds like the junkyard Ferrari and racetrack S2000 that keeps blowing up in retaliation against the government - Hmm, not into the history aspect of things? Want something more hands-on? Still want it to be silly so it doesn't bore you to death? Look no further than Garbage Time ! This channel is focused on mainly restoring weird little creatures and the video lengths are not too terribly long to make you wish you were in math class instead. Things to expect: trying to run the engine with chocolate / WD40, replacing the coolant with Pepsi, and restoring weird goobers you've never seen in your life. - What if you have a car and want to work on it? Getting serious about it? Then I must introduce you to every car guy's holy grail, CHRISFIX. This channel is all about the specifics and step-by-steps on how to destroy modify your car. Or maybe you just like the guy. Or like knowing how people work on cars. Either way, ChrisFix is a wonderful channel if you're interested in actually working on cars! - "But I like experimental vehicles and racing and cool expensive builds!" We have a classic for you, then! TopGear showcases the latest and greatest of cars, from the Tuthill GT ONE road legal Le Mans race car to the Bentley Blower, if you're one to simply appreciate great pieces of work, or you're a history nerd with a knack for enjoying sarcastic commentary, you're looking at the right channel.

Car shows / meets - My first experience with cars was a car show I went to by myself. The show included supercars, built JDMs, local cars, bikes... pretty much everything you'd expect out of a car show. I even have a tumblr sideblog where I post my photography. My tip when going to shows is don't be afraid to ask around! Car guys are simple people. You can come up to them and say that you're just starting out and would like a little explanation on what's going on with the car in front of you, they'll be more than happy to entertain you! You'll even make friends along the way :) There's different things to expect when going to a show vs a meet, I recommend going to shows rather than meets because meets are more closed and most likely held just amongst people who own said cool cars.

Videogames - Videogames remain a great way to learn and be accustomed to cars, and there's a lot of titles out there like NFS, Burnout, Gran Turismo, etc... so which one is for you? - Most mainstream racing games like NFS and Forza Horizon focuses on the gaming aspect of things. If you're looking for something uncomplicated and fun, those games are the way to go. - Lets get a little bit technical. Wanna learn how to build an engine, but you don't want to ruin your own? Car Mechanic Simulator. I'll admit this isnt the most detailed, theres so many things going on with a car and so many different platforms and complications, but from a learning standpoint? Really great if you're just getting into it or want to learn names of different parts effectively! - Ohh. Maybe you're that type of person. Experimental tuning and racing person. Assetto Corsa / Competizione, iRacing, Gran Turismo is for you, buddy. There is a steep learning curve that will force you to learn about different specs and how they affect the car holistically, and if you're into that, then I don't see why not.

Hi yes hello, I have a question that's been bothering me. In Lovers Trophy, when you get put into the pit what kind of pallet is it one of those plain blue wooden pallets? Or is it like the plastic black Coca-cola? Of the blue plastic Pepsi ones?? And is there stuff on top of it? How far am I from the top if I'm also on a pile of bodies?

I ask this because I work at a ✨grocery store✨ and I can pretty easily pick up a pallet (because I never learned how to use the pallet jack and I'm not gonna now) with fairly low effort.

Dante vs beast mortos vs kommander vs buddy: I’m going with Brady mortos because my boy needs some wins especially now that’s he’s with LFI and Jake just traded lance for the whole group. We can’t let the whole faction look like shit and Jake look like an old fool. Plus with the taven and kingdom storyline of them wanting him back with them it makes him look better to be a winner on his own. They can use him losing with lfi but winning here alone as a just argument for why he should lfi and come back to the undisputed kingdom. I think tk will have buddy win because hob is losing later in the night and this was his consolation prize.

Qt marshal vs big boom: I do not care about this in all honesty I am not the target audience but I will say based on audience reception it should be the boom guy. Also QT should never win anything as a matter of fact.

Deonna vs anna: I can see they’re building Anna up I get that and I love that for her which is why if she wins I won’t be mad but I think she should lose here to give her a story and feud to focus on while they get the other two belts and storylines settled before putting her back on the path for the tbs or world title pictures.

Private party vs hob vs outrunners vs acclaimed: private party fought for too fucking long to be taken seriously and get this gold and so far have not been involved at all in their own fucking story. In fact they still don’t actually have one the focus has continued to be on acclaimed and I get it most likely caster is gonna fuck up and they will finally FINALLY break up same for ftr turning on outrunners but private party are our champs and deserve to shine. After tonight they need to be focused on and showcased not jay backstage but in the ring. If you have to get cmll and new Japan tag teams to come over and give them a weekly match. Showcase new talent and our current champs.

Strong vs mjf: it’s mjf if anyone is gonna get to put him down it’ll be cole. I’m still very confused how he’s the badguy but Roddy and Cole aren’t. They’re all terrible but focusing solely on this situation max is absolutely the victim and they are the bad guys.

Swerve vs Bobby: bobby just came in and has the team behind him it makes complete sense for bobby to win this and I will not be mad about that. I know I said I’m focusing on story but I’m a lying liar who lies and I want swerve to win because he’s hot and deserves to pin me I mean his opponents.

Will vs Kyle: another one that they are building up Kyle this makes the most sense and it should absolutely be Kyle winning. The reason I put the purple on will is because with the storyline about his kid and wife I kinda feel like the good guy almost has to win now unless it’s still building which in that case run this back for worlds end.

Jack vs Daniel: Daniel has spent years in a push and stop climb to the top. Give him the fucking belt already. They didn’t pull the trigger for him during the Bryan storyline and I truly think besides everything with Pepsi that will go down in history as the worst decision aew ever made. And unlike every other bad booking decision they can’t blame it on injuries signings ratings audience or nothing it was just a horrible fucking decision. Fix it now give him the fucking belt you dont need to make him a loser to make him fight harder and make us cheer harder just give it to him. It’s tk and I don’t trust him to not just keep it on jack as his own apology for the Pepsi situation.

Jay vs hangman: give it to jay even if he cheats even if the gunns come back and give hanger their lick backs for his attack on them give it to jay. Hanger is unhinged he’s lost in the fire of anger and hate and revenge and losing especially losing to someone like jay who neeeeeeever let’s him live it down jay who has always had adams number this will be delicious torture. And because I want this so badly I think tk is gonna keep it from me but hey at least jay is finally on the show proper not just zero hour.

Takeshita vs ricochet: the champ needs to retain and needs to be on tv way fucking more come tf on! I don’t think tk even knows this match is happening.

Mariah’s championship celebration: Toni in her new era is coming to disrupt everything now if Nina is turning on Mariah tonight or they’ll hint at it and build it up more for tv audiences because of the missed time due to visa issues idk but fuckery will occur.

Mercedes vs kris: the way they threw kris storyline heel turn and broken friendships with orange Chuck and willow away on a dime I can see tk giving this to her but I don’t want it. Let Mercedes retain and let someone more worthy come and take it. Someone we can actually root for like Anna Jamie or even Penelope hell I will also happily take Harley or Nyla since we still don’t have womens tag belts but again we can’t do right by the men there I sincerely doubt the man who books 6 min womens match for 1 two hour show is gonna do right by them here.

Mox vs Orange: it needs to be mox I get orange being champion is a feel good moment but we already did that with Bryan and sting. If we focus on story it makes way more sense for this to break orange somehow and mox retains and blood orange is what’s left of Cassidy (especially if somehow they hurt wheeler and blame it on orange like we had to do this cause of you look how terrible of a person/friend you are that winning a match mattered more than your former sons safety.) This also gives his friends the conglomeration a chance to do what the dark order couldn’t for hanger and that’s save him from himself. I can also see darby challenging next with the excuse that’s he’s unkillable (and give someone else a chance to earn tks special keep darby off Everest bonus check)

“OKAY KEEP THEM CLOSED,”

robby kept his hands over y/n’s eyes as the two walked through her house, and towards her living room where robby swore her birthday present was. “alright, now open.”robby instructed, stepping back and to the side of y/n. the girl cautiously opened up the card, taking note of the bag that it was sitting on. 

her eyes scanned the card, with a piece of paper folded up taped against one of the sides. slowly taking it off, she opened up the paper, with tears instantly filling her eyes, “you did not!”

“we did.”robby laughed as the girl flung herself into his arms with joy, “everybody chipped in to get the tickets.”

“i couldn’t have us not go scream out our song live y/n/n.”robby grinned, causing the h/c girl to throw her head back laughing.

two vip tickets to see maren morris live at the hollywood bowl, for the two to go see in three days.

it was the one concert y/n wouldn't stop talking about. why would she! it was her favorite artist at one of her favorite venues. tickets had sold out almost instantly, leaving y/n to believe she’d be sitting outside the venue, listening to her favorite songs from there.

robby’s eyebrows furrowed as he dropped the bat that was in his hands, “y/n/n what the hell are you doing here?”

“i got bored and my parents are fighting again.”y/n shrugged, placing a few bags on the counter, “plus i come bearing our favorite ice cream and some coke we can have.”

“its a school night.”robby pointed out, and y/n rolled her eyes, “since when have we ever cared about that?”

“alright good point.”

robby grabbed two spoons before joining the girl on the couch as she put on victorious, the show they deemed as theirs. handing the spoon to his best friend, he watched as she pulled out their favorite drinks, and placed the pepsi in front of robby.

the two sat in silence for awhile, before y/n turned to robby, “sometimes i wish we went to hollywood arts y’know?”

“finally be able to paint as much as i wanted, and for you to be able to showcase the karate more.”she went on, and robby stared at her for a few moments, expecting something to follow.

“live up to what we actually want to be, not just some kids from broken families.”

wrapping an arm around the girls shoulders, he wrapped her in a side hug, bringing her more comfort than he knew, one the both of them needed.

“i did, for two days.”he told her, and he heard ‘all too well (10 minute version) being played loudly from the tv, “now c’mon, let me in.”

“no!”the h/c girl shouted back, before turning up the music to full blast. rolling his eyes, he pulled out his phone, before taking a picture of the bags in his hand, and sending it to the girl.

hearing footsteps approach the door, the lock clicked and the door opened slightly, revealing the girls e/c eyes, “do you have a cannoli?”

“of course.”robby gave her a shocked look, “you ask this as if i don’t know you.”

the door fully opened, and she quickly took the pink drinks and bag from emili’s, before retreating back to her bed. robby soon followed, closing the door behind him, and tore open the in and out bag.

“eat.”robby nodded towards the girl, and she stared at him, “c’mon i know you and your shitty eating habits, eat.”

“wow way to call me out there.”she mumbled, before taking a cheese burger, and starting to eat it as robby changed her music.

“hey!”

“if we’re going to listen to music, we’re going to listen to your happy playlist.”robby told her as delicate by taylor swift came on, and she pouted, “let me wallow in self pity.”

“no.”

the two sat there for awhile, listen to the playlist while eating, before y/n looked over at robby, staring at him for a few moments before speaking up, “you really know how to cheer me up don’t you?”

“you learn a thing or two within sixteen years.”robby shrugged, with a teasing smiling spread across his lips, “i also figured you hadn’t had your starbucks in a few days either.”

robby and y/n sang as they looked at each other with the biggest smiles spread across both of their lips, “we just show up at each others house unannounced in the middle of the night.”

“we got history, no conditions,”they continued, with such a euphoric feeling filling y/n, “you don’t ever have to worry, yeah i’ll keep you sturdy.”

“cause we’re good friends.”

there was something so euphoric hearing a song that meant so much to the two, knowing how it fit the best friends to a t. through thick and thin the two had stood with each other no matter what, and being their when the other called for help, even if it were for help on a math assignment.

they were good friends, and it’d always be like that for the two.

pulling out her camera, y/n video taped the two as the song began to end,

when you think about how aiden was isolated (because he was homeschooled until the events of SBG) and how daniel and jessica currently travel/leave him home alone (or, well, with ben) a lot, it really makes the flashback showcasing his depression. a little bit more painful imo. not sure if they left him alone overnight when he was younger, but i can personally imagine that they probably did.

↳ As the sun started to set on Ben Murray's fifty-sixth birthday, February 27th of 1981, he sat across from his partner at their patio table, nursing a can of Pepsi and a cigarette. He leaned back to blow a column of smoke into the air, eyes closed against the fiery sky, and when he opened them again he frowned in thought.

Reagan watched this, also with a cigarette and an empty can of Coca-Cola. He stuffed the remains of the cigarette into the can and ran a hand through his hair, pulling a single strand of loose gray away from his scalp. "What's on your mind?"

"Did you ever think we'd get here?" Ben tapped ashes out into the ashtray in the middle of the table. "Back when we were teenagers?"

"Define 'here' and I'll tell you."

Ben shook his head, knowing the clarification would be crucial and possibly charged. "Just...here. You and me." He gestured between them, then to the mansion behind them. "Sometimes I think I'm gonna wake up in Jersey and none of this'll have happened."

"I knew we'd get here." Reagan smiled at him, soft and warm, his eyes sparkling with contentment he hadn't felt in quite some time prior to the preceding year. He quirked his brows to evoke a smart grin from Ben. "You're too damn incredible to not have eyes on you. Even if we didn't end up as Gilmore and Murray, I would've dedicated my life to making sure you got to showcase your incomparable talents to the world. I knew we'd get here."

"Your lofty confessions are becoming tiresome at best and unbearable at worst," Ben muttered, not bothering to hide the pleased expression cast over his aging face.

"How about a simple 'Yes, I did,' then?"

They maintained eye contact. Ben tilted his head, asking the more pertinent question with his gaze.

Reagan tucked his bottom lip between his teeth and his crow's feet became more pronounced. He doodled a bit on the tabletop with the tip of his finger, thrilled as he always was that their dynamic still allowed for moments of figurative telepathy. "I can't say I knew we'd end up like this," he murmured, his silky voice heating the chilled air between them. "...But as I've told you several times, I hoped it would happen a lot sooner."

Before Ben could respond, a gradual rumble at their feet swelled into mild crescendo, jostling the table and the soda cans, and they glanced up in unison at the palm trees surrounding them. Their fronds shivered, swaying from side to side above them. In the distance, a car alarm sounded.

"Not too bad," Reagan said as the quake died down to an almost imperceptible shudder. He waited a moment for any potential aftershocks, and when none immediately followed, he looked at Ben. "Should probably go in and check the damage, prep up for any bigger ones headin' our way."

"I can think of about eighty things I'd rather do than that," Ben sighed, reaching over to stuff the remains of his cigarette into Reagan's can.

Reagan took hold of Ben's hand. When they looked at each other, Reagan laced their fingers together, and Ben imparted him with a genuine smile.

"It's your birthday. If it's not too serious," Reagan said quietly and with purpose, "we can worry about it later."

Ben brought Reagan's hand to his lips and pressed a soft, kiss to his knuckles. "I accept the gift."

Reagan laughed, falling head over heels in love with Ben all over again as he seemed to do daily. And when he did, Ben fell right alongside him.

Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, perhaps the most important figure in the field of anarchist theory. He developed many of the most important cornerstones of the anarcho-communist ideology, the most important of which being the following principle; "Property is Theft!"

Indeed, property is theft. Specifically, private property which forms the cornerstone of our capitalist system. Yet, there is another form of property which can be just as oppressive, namely intellectual property. The ownership of ideas, of art, of symbols, intellectual property offers someone the right to sue others for using the products that originated in their mind. In itself, a seemingly noble idea as it can potentially serve to protect the livelihood of smaller artists, academics and inventors. However, these same people are often not the ones who actually manage to profit from these laws. No, it is primarily the companies who can afford the most skilled lawyers that actually manage to protect their ideas whilst those who might actually need this protection are left to fend for themselves. In fact, smaller artists usually end up being the victim of these kinds of lawsuits especially when it comes to the practice of sampling in music.

In this manner, the right to sample becomes a practice to fight for within the anarchist struggle, especially when the use of sampling serves to criticize the current systems that govern society. Thus, the subject of today's review will be one such artist known as Saint Pepsi and his 2014 music video Enjoy Yourself.

Admittedly, most Vaporwave artists do not explicitly ascribe to anarchist ideology and Saint Pepsi is no exception. In fact he barely has a public persona at all, let alone one that promotes specific political goals. However, the combination of anti-consumerist critique, diy-ethic and, as formerly established, a potent disrespect for intellectual property rights, it becomes clear that Saint Pepsi falls quite neatly in line with the means and ends of the average anarcho-communist, intentionally or not.

But how does the Saint spread our anti-capitalist message in Enjoy Yourself? It is through a process of defamiliarization, and emphasization. The song repeats slowed-down snippets from the song Off The Wall by Michael Jackson. I'm sure Michael needs no introduction, but I'd still like to clarify some things about his history. Michael Jackson had his start in Motown Records, one of the biggest titans in the music industry. Though they have platformed many great artists, they are also one of the primary culprits of the mass-commercialization of popular music. This does not necessarily make their music any worse, but it does make this song a great choice for the Saint Pepsi treatment.

It is set to clips taken from a McDonald's commercial, one of the other titans of consumerism. It features a smiling man with a moon-shaped head (who also became an alt-right symbol for some reason). He dances while playing the piano on top of a hamburger, flying through a city-scape. The city is filled with bill-boards and McDonald's' classic yellow M's. It's a bizzare picture that could only be found within the post-modern, late-capitalist regime we currently live under.

The song ends on the message "Just Enjoy Yourself!~" repeated multiple times, eventually fading out to give the impression of its infinite repetition. On the surface, this phrase gives a sense of calmth and nostalgia, it's an invitation to simply let go and have fun. However, through the constant repetition Saint Pepsi showcases the way that consumer-capitalism controls its subjects.

With this message the song highlights consumerism's role as a primary means to pacify the masses and manufacture its consent. If a society feels the need to constantly repeat the message that everything's fine it's a sign that it's clearly not.
