i've been thinking about livestreaming some pendragon stuff recently, like playing the old flash games, taking pendragon quizzes, looking through old fan stuff, maybe playing the sims with pendragon characters, and just talking about pendragon live... i have a lot of ideas and i think it sounds fun so who would be interested? let me know!

Did anyone else read the Pendragon books when they were younger?
That series deserves new covers/ a re release and facelift.

Hey people familiar with how copyright works on TikTok can you help me out with something
So I got an idea I'm thinking I wanted to try once I'm not sick and feeling awful, right now shooting for trying in the next month or so, but I'm worried about the copyright legality of it. I have a bunch of book series that I absolutely loved growing up, that barely any of my friends have read. I also really enjoy reading aloud. I was thinking I'd love to do livestreams of reading these books, but I'm worried that this doesn't count as fair use and I'll get hit with copyright stuff.
My main question is, if I'm reading YA books from early 2000s on TikTok Live, should I try and reach out to the authors first to try and get permission? I know one of the authors has a Twitter and has been pretty chill with his fans in the past, but I legit have no idea about the other author whose books I was considering. I don't wanna upset them bc these particular two authors have inspired so much of my own fiction, and I mostly wanna read them on stream to share with my friends that aren't as into reading as I am.
I was alternatively thinking of reaching out to one of my friends that I wanted to get into these series, and asking if he wanted to do videos on YouTube together where I'm reading and he can comment or ask questions to make it a more transformative thing than just reading someone's book.
Does this sound like a doable idea? Does it count as transformative, or should I try and email the authors first to guarantee that it's ok?

Spoken like a true villain. I honestly love thos series but it's been so long since I read it. I legit use the "This is the way it was meant to be." In my day to day life.

Hello Quicktime. What do you think L and Light's favourite books might be, please?
hello anon thank you!! this is such a great question. i think about this 24/7.
light
ok i am convinced light is not a strong reader(tm), at least when it comes to fiction. he can read very quickly, but he has trouble remembering a bunch of information that isn’t true, and he finds it very difficult to engage with emotionally complex characters. this upsets and embarrasses him.
anyway. all this being said. i think he primarily likes middle grade novels. he gets a lot out of them because they often teach you basic but important things about what sorts of feelings one might have, which is something he struggles with. he likes fantasy because it is fun.
1. totto-chan: the little girl in the window by tetsuko kuroyanagi. this is actually a memoir but it’s also a classic japanese children’s book. light would have read this in school and i think it would have stuck with him. it’s about the author’s childhood in ww2, centred around her school, where she is very beloved.
2. the stranger by albert camus: this is light’s one adult novel. he is utterly obsessed with it; it is one of the only books he feels truly moved by. he cried hysterically the first time he read it because he didn’t know books could be about things you feel and are ashamed of feeling.
3. the pendragon series by dj machale: i think he would find this SO cool and mind-blowing.
4. inkheart by cornelia funke: he has laid curled up against L’s legs while L reads him this children’s novel about a girl whose silvertongued father can magic characters and objects out of books. he also likes the thief lord by the same author
5. coraline by neil gaiman: he finds this book very cathartic because he is also scared of being left all alone amongst people who love him but in the wrong way
6. silverwing by kenneth oppal: he loves this children’s novel about a bat who learns that divine evil is real but divine good is not
L
L i think has more standard adult tastes, and his preferences tend towards books that are deeply amoral, somewhat surreal, and occasionally slightly wicked. i think reads a lot and across a variety of genres, however
1. the decagon house murders by yukito ayatsuji: a fun little locked-room mystery novel & a japanese cult classic
2. kafka: i don’t have a specific work in mind but i know in my heart he’d love kafka
3. i am a cat by natsume soseki: a slightly mean story about a meiji-era housecat
4. the maddadam trilogy by margaret atwood: he loves this novel about two deeply fucked up people destroying the world
5. the girl with the dragon tattoo: i have thought about this very deeply and i’ve decided he would love this series. he thinks lisbeth salander is so cool and the mystery has enough twists and complications to keep him occupied
also he sometimes reads children’s books BECAUSE of light and he has enjoyed: most of cornelia funke’s books, remnants by ka applegate (light hated this) and the golden compass by phillup pullman (light found this kind of hard to follow.) the music of the dolphins by karen hesse gave him a mental breakdown.

Okay but imagine you’re a time/space traveler and you thought you caused the complete destruction of “dimension A” and then a few seasons later you visit “dimension B” and you’re dropped off on this funky island. And you’re hanging with your bros and you decide to go sailing. And while you’re on you’re on this sailing trip one of your bros is like “alright let’s head back to B”
And ur like… wait. That sounds goofy. What’s wrong with what he’s saying? You think we should “head back” … “to” …. “B”
And you’re like “wait my bros. ‘B’ is the name of the island??!!!???”
And the bros are like “ummm we know you’re faking amnesia. WTF is wrong with you?”
And you gotta be like!!! “What is the name of like, this world? This planet? Where are we?”
And your bro looks you dead in the face and says “A”
Damn this moment in fiction lives in my head rent free. Thanks for attending my high rendition of the 8th Bobby Pendragon book by DJ MacHale (I think this was book 8 but the series is muddied in my aged brain)

What are the 5? Mine are currently in no particular order.
Hero of ages by Brandon Sanderson
The Pendragon series by DJ Machale has one of my favorite openings of all time in 'merchant of death'
Starswarm by Jerry Pournelle
Three days of happiness by Sugaru Miaki
And the hataraku maou series by Satoshi Wagahara
Went through my book bins (5 now) in an attempt to see if there were any books I was willing to part with (6, 8 if you count old girl scout stuff) and have by process of "ooh I love this book, I wanna read it again" determined my five favorite books of all time (currently)

I'm still not sure what the slogan "imagine the unimagined" had to with Pendragon. It feels like it was swapped with another young adult series or something

I keep thinking about this tweet bc I don't know??? Lmaooo like it depends on how well they're written??? Like this reminded me how I really was (maybe still am👀 a little bit) a Saint Dane fan and there were some points I was like <he's-got-a-point-you-know> (that is until the final books lol) and he has some iconic lines and the energy he has,,, but I'm even a bigger Alder stan who is the antithesis of Saint Dane in every single way.. Despite everything tho I could never throw the stone at Saint Dane. I mean I can't anyway, he'd k word me first lol. But then there are characters like Emhyr and Leo fuxcking Bonhart, or even Dandelion from the Witcher who isn't even a “bad guy”, and still I feel like throwing a boulder at them lmao so it all depends if I like them I guess not if I think I'm pure bc I'm not
