QUICK CHECK-UP: JYP
2019-20 SEASON: 8TH PLACE
Coming into the New Year’s JYP Jyväskylä was one of the hottest teams in the league. But then… A catastrophic 8 game losing streak at the start of the year 2020 made them drop from 3rd place to 7th. The coach Pekka Tirkkonen admitted that they had been seeing an issue in their game earlier but not done anything about it at the time being because of still being able to win games.
2020-21 SEASON
With leading score leader Julius Nättinen leaving the team, it is up to the young talent to fill up the gap he left. The team acquired Carolina Hurricanes prospect Patrik Puistola during the off-season after he had been playing in three different teams the previous season. Rookie Brad Lambert also made headlines by leaving HIFK and joining JYP instead because of having a better chance to break into the core lineup.
